Apparently your water bottle says more about you than your personality ever could. This episode starts with the crew uncovering the shocking truth that every few years a new water bottle brand completely takes over society. Stanley, Hydro Flask, Yeti, Owala... are we hydrating or just collecting emotional support cups? The gang breaks down every hydration trend from the last decade while exposing who's secretly obsessed with insulated bottles and who proudly survives on free swag from company events. From there, things somehow get even weirder. The crew jumps into a homemade game of Jeopardy featuring songs that begin with the letter "G," and what should have been a simple trivia segment quickly turns into total chaos. Buzzing too early, forgetting the rules, arguing over answers, and roasting each other... basically everything you'd expect from The Rizzuto Show. There's also a look Back in the Day with everything from Jeffrey Dahmer's arrest and America's Beautiful origins to remembering Ozzy Osbourne one year after his passing. Then it's time for a massive Crap on Celebrities packed with entertainment news including:• Oasis climbing back onto the charts thanks to the FIFA World Cup• The latest on Jelly Roll and Bunny XO's divorce rumors• Snoop Dogg's upcoming biopic• Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees• Billy Idol almost becoming the T-1000 in Terminator 2• RoboCop returning as a TV series• Netflix bringing back Untold• MrBeast getting married• Ryan Reynolds teasing another Deadpool• Greta Van Fleet's newest music• Marilyn Manson's latest single• LEGO's incredible X-Files set• Plus birthdays, random movie facts, and enough sarcastic commentary to make your morning considerably more entertaining. As always, nobody stays on topic for very long, facts are occasionally questioned, and somehow everyone leaves knowing far more about trendy water bottles than anyone should. If your idea of a daily comedy show involves pop culture, hilarious fails, weird news, music, celebrity gossip, random trivia, and friends making each other laugh for over two hours, you've found your people. Thanks for making The Rizzuto Show part of your day. BONUS EPISODE: What’s On in London in July 2026: America 250, Exhibitions, Events & Heat Wave Survival Tips, What To See and Do

Anglotopia Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 30, 2026 45:12

In this monthly bonus episode of the Anglotopia Podcast, Jonathan Thomas returns with the July edition of What's On in London — a complete rundown of everything worth seeing and doing in the city this month. July is London at its most extroverted: Wimbledon fever, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, British Summertime at Hyde Park, open-air cinema across the city, and a remarkable cluster of new exhibitions opening across the major galleries. Particularly special this month are three America 250 exhibitions viewing the American Revolution from the British side — at the National Archives, the British Museum, and Benjamin Franklin's only surviving house anywhere in the world, just around the corner from Trafalgar Square. Jonathan also covers the ongoing blockbusters already running from June, gives an honest assessment of London's July heat wave (currently under a red weather warning), shares a firsthand account from an Anglotopia friend who was in the city during the worst of it, and walks through the practical survival tips that will make your summer visit not just manageable but genuinely wonderful. Links New Exhibitions — July Richard Dadd at the Royal Academy of Arts (from July 1) Young Artist Summer Show, Royal Academy (from July 14 — Free) Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller Landscapes, National Gallery (from July 2 — Free) Anna Mendieta at Tate Modern In Other Worlds by Liam Young, Barbican (from July 15) Audrey Amis at the Wellcome Collection (from July 9) Art as Witness: The Lying in State of Queen Elizabeth II, Westminster Hall (from July 13) America 250 Exhibitions Revolution 250: America's Independence Story, National Archives (open now — Free) Declaring Independence: USA 250, British Museum (from June 30 — Free) How We Lost America, Benjamin Franklin House (from July 3) Ongoing Exhibitions from June Frida Kahlo & Tracey Emin at Tate Modern Anish Kapoor Retrospective, Hayward Gallery Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art at the V&A Zurbarán at the National Gallery James McNeill Whistler at Tate Britain Marilyn Monroe at the National Portrait Gallery The Queen's Fashion at The King's Gallery (sold out through 2026 — now extended into 2027, book ahead) Inside Aardman: Wallace & Gromit at Young V&A Major Events Wimbledon 2026 BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall (from mid-July) British Summertime at Hyde Park Open Air Cinema — Somerset House, Rooftop Film Club, Regent's Park Buckingham Palace State Rooms Summer Opening (late July) (likely sold out — check for returns) Houses of Parliament Tours (July/August recess) Practical Resources Londontopia London Events Calendar TfL Tube Map — Which Lines Have Air Conditioning Refill App — Free Water Refill Points Across London Ken Burns American Revolution Documentary — PBS Passport Friends of Anglotopia Club Takeaways July is London at its most spectacular and its most demanding — maximum daylight (sunrise before 5am, sunset after 9pm), world-class events, longer museum hours, and beautiful golden evening light, but also peak crowds, peak prices, and the very real possibility of an extreme heat wave. Three once-in-a-lifetime America 250 exhibitions are open this July, all viewing the American Revolution from the British side: the National Archives has George Washington's handwritten letter accepting the British surrender at Yorktown and an original copy of the 1783 Treaty of Paris; the British Museum has four key objects from the Revolution; and Benjamin Franklin's only surviving house anywhere in the world is hosting "How We Lost America" from July 3. Richard Dadd at the Royal Academy (from July 1) is the most compelling new exhibition of the month — a rare survey of the brilliant Victorian painter who created hauntingly intricate fairy scenes while confined to an asylum after killing his father in a psychotic episode. The red weather warning heat wave currently affecting Britain is not a reason to cancel a trip, but it does require preparation: buy a fan on arrival (from Boots, Superdrug, Marks & Spencer, or a corner shop), carry a refillable water bottle, avoid the Central, Bakerloo, Northern, and Piccadilly tube lines during the heat, and use the air-conditioned Elizabeth line instead. During an extreme heat wave, even well-equipped venues can be forced to close galleries — one Anglotopia friend visiting recently reported that parts of the British Museum had to shut because industrial fans couldn't bring temperatures down, and visitors were fainting. Have a backup plan for every attraction. The Art as Witness exhibition at Westminster Hall (from July 13) — gathering official artworks made to record Queen Elizabeth II's lying in state in September 2022 — is a quietly moving, freely accessible display in one of the oldest buildings in London, and is worth combining with a Houses of Parliament tour during the summer recess. The BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, running from mid-July straight through August, offers some of the most affordable classical music in London — from Bach to brand new compositions — with tickets potentially still available for some concerts. The Queen's Fashion exhibition at The King's Gallery is now extended into 2027 — if you're visiting next spring, book now, as it continues to sell out in advance. Jonathan's honest verdict: July is the right month if you love outdoor events, maximum daylight, world-class exhibitions, and big set-piece British occasions like Wimbledon, and you're comfortable with higher prices and significant crowds. It's the wrong month if you want contemplative museums, budget hotels, relaxed restaurant booking, or the tube to feel bearable without the Elizabeth line. Tucked between every crowded attraction, there is still a quieter London in July — in tree-lined squares, along the Thames at dusk, in church gardens, in early-morning side streets before the tour groups arrive. Walk slowly, sit in the parks, get to the pub before the evening rush, and the city reveals itself. Soundbites "July is London at its most extroverted, most expensive, and most crowded — and honestly its most beautiful. The city is showing off, and you can either love that or find it exhausting. There really is no middle ground." — Jonathan's honest verdict on July in London. "Richard Dadd created these hauntingly intricate fairy scenes like the Fairy Feller's Master Stroke — while he was confined to an asylum after he killed his father in a psychotic episode. So that's like, this guy already sounds really interesting." — Jonathan on the Royal Academy's most compelling new show. "The National Archives has a handwritten letter signed by George Washington accepting the British surrender at Yorktown. They have an actual copy of the 1783 Treaty of Paris. You're going to be seeing some of the most famous documents that are really founding documents for us — from the British side." — Jonathan on the National Archives America 250 exhibition. "Benjamin Franklin spent something like 20 to 30 years living in London. And his only remaining house that he ever lived in is in London, just around the corner from Trafalgar Square. They're hosting a witty and thought-provoking exhibition called 'How We Lost America' — a British perspective on the Revolution, told in the very house where Franklin spent years trying to hold both sides together." — Jonathan on the Benjamin Franklin House. "The temperature climbed to about 98 degrees on their last day and it genuinely curtailed their plans. Walking the sun-drenched pavements and riding the crowded tube became, in their words, a bit debilitating — especially as they were senior travelers. In an extreme heat event, the heat doesn't just make you uncomfortable. It can quietly eat your itinerary." — Jonathan sharing a firsthand heat wave account from an Anglotopia friend. "The first thing you should do when you land and you've checked into your hotel is go to a local ironmonger or hardware store and get a fan. Buy a fan. You will need a fan. Buy two fans. You'll have two fans. Be in a wind tunnel." — Jonathan's number one heat wave survival tip. "The light is a secret superpower of July travel in London. That long golden evening light makes every gray building glow. Yes, it's hot. Yes, it's crowded — but the city looks absolutely beautiful at 8pm with a cold glass of something in your hand." — Jonathan on why July evenings in London are worth it. "Even though the British Museum has air conditioning, some of the galleries had to shut because they couldn't bring the temperature down even with industrial fans — and they mentioned visitors fainting from the heat. If you're building a trip around a specific thing you want to see during a heat wave, have a backup." — Jonathan on extreme heat and museum closures. "Sun rises before 5am, sets after 9pm. It's glorious if you love long evenings — maddening if you want to sleep in. But you're in London. Why waste time sleeping?" — Jonathan on July's extraordinary daylight hours. "Walk slowly, sit in the parks, go to the pub early before the evening rush. The city is jammed with people but it's also jammed with possibility. July is London saying: I'm giving you my absolute best. Here it is, take it or leave it. And most people will take it — which is exactly why it's so crowded." — Jonathan's closing thought on July in London. What if the pain you've learned to live with isn't something you have to accept forever? In this episode, Dr. Robert Whitfield shares a moment that stopped him in his tracks — a patient who had quietly lost the ability to open a water bottle, turn a jar lid, or walk through a door without pain. She hadn't even fully realized how much her body had taken over her daily life. Then, within one to two weeks after her procedure, something remarkable happened. She was watching a movie with her husband when she noticed she was opening and closing her hands — without pain. Her husband ran to the kitchen, grabbed a water bottle, and said, "Open this." She did. Then a jar. Then a door. The inflammation that had been silently accelerating her arthritis and deforming her hands had been driving her symptoms all along. Dr. Whitfield breaks down why stories like this matter — not just emotionally, but clinically. Grip strength, balance, and thigh strength are foundational to longevity and quality of life. Chronic inflammation doesn't always announce itself dramatically. Sometimes it quietly steals the small things — until they're gone. In this episode, you'll hear about: How chronic inflammation can silently accelerate joint degeneration and arthritis Why grip strength is a critical and often overlooked marker of long-term health The connection between brain fog, systemic inflammation, and implant-related illness Why patients often adapt to pain and limitation without realizing the full extent of their loss How the SHARP Method supports recovery that goes far beyond the surgical site If you or someone you love has been told their symptoms are "just aging" or "stress," this episode is essential listening. Send us Fan MailMost people worried about microplastics are focused on the wrong things. The receipts, the water bottles, the plastic cutting boards. Dr. Matt Campen has spent his career actually measuring what ends up in the human body, and the picture that's emerging looks a lot less like a consumer choice problem and a lot more like a food system problem.Dr. Kevin White sits down with Dr. Campen, a toxicologist and environmental health researcher at the University of New Mexico, to talk through what the science actually shows: where microplastics accumulate in the body, why the brain appears to hold more than any other organ, what his lab found when comparing plastic concentrations in healthy brains versus those with dementia, and why the biggest exposure vector isn't your water bottle. It's processed food, irrigated by groundwater running through plastic-contaminated agricultural fields. They also get into wildfire smoke as a largely overlooked driver of neuroinflammation, and why the recovery window is longer than most people realize."I worry that the United States may end up being sentinels for the rest of the planet on what the health effects of microplastics are."This isn't a conversation about panic or dismissal. It's an honest look at where the science actually is, what it means for brain health and longevity, and why solving this one is going to take more than switching to a stainless steel bottle.Find Dr. Campen on LinkedIn.Instagram: @kevinwhitemd YouTube: @kevinwhitemd primehealthassociates.com Prime Health Associates

On May 28, 2023, 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack Belton walked into a store in Columbia, South Carolina. Minutes later, he was running for his life down the street. Two grown men chased him. One shot him in the back. The sheriff confirmed he stole nothing. The coroner confirmed the fatal wound was to his lower back — consistent with someone running away. On June 1, 2026, a jury found the man who killed him not guilty of murder.Content Note: This episode discusses the murder of a child, systemic racism, anti-Black violence, and contains strong language and emotional content. This conversation is appropriate for mature audiences ready to engage with issues of racial injustice in America. In this heavy, emotional episode recorded just days after the verdict, Dr. Marjorie and Michael don't just discuss the case of Cyrus Carmack Belton. They grapple with what it means to live and raise Black children in America. They compare it to Trayvon Martin. They discuss anti-Black racism not just from white people but from other communities. They break down the normalization of anti-Black violence, the political failures of leadership on both sides, the comforts of privilege that inoculate people from action, and the necessity of economic disruption for real change. The conversation is about social cohesion and accountability. About how injustice after injustice piles up until we stop asking "can this happen in America?" because we know the answer is yes — it already has, for 250 years. There is also a powerful moment where Dr. Michael rejects language that diminishes Black humanity, refusing to accept the phrase "the least of us" and insisting on full humanity and equal dignity. This episode calls for more than conversation. It demands action. Economic disruption. Political accountability. Refusal to accept the normalization of anti-Black violence. Released just before Juneteenth 2026 — a reminder that 250 years later, Black Americans are still fighting to be seen and treated as human.Inside the Episode:A 14-Year-Old Boy and a Bottle of Water. The facts of the Cyrus Carmack Belton case. "A bottle of water is worth chasing somebody down and shooting them in the back? That can't be anything but anti-Black racism."He Looks Like Trayvon. Ten years later, another Black child killed, another not guilty verdict. Pattern recognition across time. The case that reignited the national conversation about systemic racism and racial justice in America.Anti-Black Racism Is Not Just From White People. A complicated, necessary conversation about anti-Black racism from multiple communities — and what that means for Black children navigating the world. What We Tell Our Black Children. The talk every Black parent dreads. "Buckle up, because the world is still not one where it feels safe for you to be Black." What Black youth protection actually looks like in 2026.Economic Impact Is the Only Language in Common. "There has to be an economic impact, because that is the only language that people have in common. Anytime anything has worked, it's because it was an economic impact." Showing up to protest is not enough.250 Years Later. Juneteenth is June 19. From emancipation to the Cyrus Carmack Belton verdict — one unbroken line. This is essential listening before Juneteenth 2026."250 years later, we are still fighting to be seen and treated as human." "He didn't steal anything. The sheriff said so himself." "Buckle up, because the world is still not one where it feels safe for you to be Black." "A bottle of water is worth chasing somebody down and shooting them in the back?" "We are not the least of any f***ing thing." "Comfort is a diffusion, not a protection." "There has to be an economic impact, because that is the only language that people have in common."

Mike Levy, Lisa Charleboise, and Logan Jones-Wilkins hold down the fort talking about pee, ultra-racing, and Strava feuds. First, Levy tries to pry embargoed information out of Jones-Wilkins before Charleboise recaps another massive weekend ride. From there, it's on to the main topics: Urine Intel from the Giro d'Italia The trio tackles the recent UCI warnings at the Giro d'Italia. Racers have been put on notice for urinating into their water bottles and tossing them to the roadside. Levy attempts to defend the logistical efficiency of the "bottle pee," while Logan and Lisa outline the absolute horror for roadside fans hoping to snag a souvenir bidon. Strava Feuds and Indoor Aerobars Addressing reader questions, the team discusses the mental health aspects of chasing Strava KOMs in highly saturated areas. Logan shares his philosophy on defending niche segments against World Tour riders, and Levy confesses to running a high aerobar setup on his indoor Zwift bike strictly for comfort during three-hour sessions. The Traka 560 Controversy & Ultra-Racing Ethics The crew dives deep into the messy world of ultra-distance racing. Logan breaks down why Victor Bosoni's victory at the Traka 560km Adventure event sparked intense debate after he cut approximately 400 meters off the official GPS track. This leads to a fiery debate: Lisa firmly believes missing that much of the course is grounds for immediate disqualification, while Levy and Logan argue for a bit more nuance in self-supported "adventure" events. Two Dubai sellers reveal how they built seven-figure brands via duty-free, Amazon UAE, and quick commerce. One through iconic local products and duty-free dominance, the other through acquiring and scaling an Amazon-first brand across markets. First up is Rami Rabia of Al Nassma Chocolates, a Dubai chocolate pioneer known for camel milk chocolate and giftable products. Rami breaks down the region's offline-heavy reality (with duty-free as a major growth engine), why COVID forced rapid channel diversification, and how Amazon UAE's cold-chain logistics solved the biggest hurdle in selling chocolate online: heat and product sensitivity. He also shares how he uses Helium 10 to track seasonal search behavior tied to Dubai's nonstop calendar of holidays and gifting moments, plus his interest in TikTok Shop once it launches locally. Then Aslam Yousuf, founder of S2C, explains how he acquired an Amazon UAE brand (instead of starting from scratch), scaled it beyond $1M, and used “quick commerce” via Noon to accelerate growth. He dives into the systems behind scaling in competitive categories—brand positioning, packaging upgrades, content overhauls, marketplace expansion (India and KSA), and a hard-earned logistics lesson from choosing the wrong shipping partner. The episode wraps with his view on Helium 10's impact and what it takes to build a regional winner that's ready for bigger markets. What if the idea that changes your life… starts with something as ordinary as being thirsty? In 2007, Travis Rosbach walked into a sporting goods store looking for a water bottle—and stumbled onto a problem no one had solved. Plastic, BPA-lined bottles dominated the market. Metal alternatives leaked, dented, or couldn't keep drinks cold enough. Travis's solution? A double-walled, vacuum-insulated, stainless steel bottle. His expertise? Non-existent. This is the improbable story of how Hydro Flask was built—from scavenging metal parts in China, to selling bottles at outdoor markets, to getting into Whole Foods by sheer timing and luck, to a last-minute investor who walked in on the day Travis planned to shut the company down.Hydro Flask would go on to become one of the most recognizable and popular bottles in the country. This is the story behind it.What You'll LearnHow paying attention to trends can lead to new business ideasHow a novice learns the ropes by obsessively comparing existing products How the lessons from past ventures can fuel future success Why perseverance and timing can be just as important as know-howTimestamps: 05:46 - Building a fence, and a first business: “I had no clue.” 09:33 - A one-way trip to Hawaii : The surprising detour that leads Travis to his biggest invention15:13 - How Travis gets inspired—then obsessed—after trying to buy a water bottle 22:08 - Searching for a manufacturer: a here-goes-nothing trip to China31:58 - The first prototype: two colors, sharp edges35:43 - Bootstrapping Hydro Flask: moving in with mom, storing bottles in grandpa's garage 37:14 - Farmer's markets, ice tests and the first buyers52:27 - The crisis that almost kills the company56:30 - An eleventh-hour visitor: “I might want to invest”58:34 - Leaving the company he built: why Travis walked away1:06:07 - Small Business SpotlightThis episode was produced by Chris Maccini, with music by Ramtin Arablouei.Edited by Neva Grant, with research help from Claire Murashima.Follow How I Built This:Instagram → @howibuiltthisX → @HowIBuiltThisFacebook → How I Built ThisFollow Guy Raz:Instagram → @guy.razYoutube → guy_razX → @guyrazSubstack → guyraz.substack.comWebsite → guyraz.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
