What if the pain you've learned to live with isn't something you have to accept forever? In this episode, Dr. Robert Whitfield shares a moment that stopped him in his tracks — a patient who had quietly lost the ability to open a water bottle, turn a jar lid, or walk through a door without pain. She hadn't even fully realized how much her body had taken over her daily life. Then, within one to two weeks after her procedure, something remarkable happened. She was watching a movie with her husband when she noticed she was opening and closing her hands — without pain. Her husband ran to the kitchen, grabbed a water bottle, and said, "Open this." She did. Then a jar. Then a door. The inflammation that had been silently accelerating her arthritis and deforming her hands had been driving her symptoms all along. Dr. Whitfield breaks down why stories like this matter — not just emotionally, but clinically. Grip strength, balance, and thigh strength are foundational to longevity and quality of life. Chronic inflammation doesn't always announce itself dramatically. Sometimes it quietly steals the small things — until they're gone. In this episode, you'll hear about: How chronic inflammation can silently accelerate joint degeneration and arthritis Why grip strength is a critical and often overlooked marker of long-term health The connection between brain fog, systemic inflammation, and implant-related illness Why patients often adapt to pain and limitation without realizing the full extent of their loss How the SHARP Method supports recovery that goes far beyond the surgical site If you or someone you love has been told their symptoms are "just aging" or "stress," this episode is essential listening. Send us Fan MailMost people worried about microplastics are focused on the wrong things. The receipts, the water bottles, the plastic cutting boards. Dr. Matt Campen has spent his career actually measuring what ends up in the human body, and the picture that's emerging looks a lot less like a consumer choice problem and a lot more like a food system problem.Dr. Kevin White sits down with Dr. Campen, a toxicologist and environmental health researcher at the University of New Mexico, to talk through what the science actually shows: where microplastics accumulate in the body, why the brain appears to hold more than any other organ, what his lab found when comparing plastic concentrations in healthy brains versus those with dementia, and why the biggest exposure vector isn't your water bottle. It's processed food, irrigated by groundwater running through plastic-contaminated agricultural fields. They also get into wildfire smoke as a largely overlooked driver of neuroinflammation, and why the recovery window is longer than most people realize."I worry that the United States may end up being sentinels for the rest of the planet on what the health effects of microplastics are."This isn't a conversation about panic or dismissal. It's an honest look at where the science actually is, what it means for brain health and longevity, and why solving this one is going to take more than switching to a stainless steel bottle.Find Dr. Campen on LinkedIn.Instagram: @kevinwhitemd YouTube: @kevinwhitemd primehealthassociates.com Prime Health Associates
Meeting PurposeDiscussing how to give feedback to high-performing, defensive colleagues.Separate the Person from the Problem: Frame feedback around the "water bottle" (the issue) to avoid activating defensiveness. Use neutral language like "workable" vs. "unworkable" instead of "right" vs. "wrong."Decouple Performance: Unpack "performance" into its component parts (e.g., sales targets + adherence to process). This prevents the person from anchoring to one metric and dismissing feedback on others.Build Relational Capital: Invest in personal conversations ("intimate" vs. "admin") and praise publicly to build trust. Deliver critical feedback privately to avoid triggering face-saving behavior.Manage Internal Friction: Acknowledge that internal and external "friction" (the gap between theory and practice) is constant. The goal is to improve your ability to navigate it, not eliminate it.Scenario: A high-performing colleague (e.g., a top sales rep) makes a costly error (e.g., a quoting mistake) and responds defensively to feedback.Austin's Reaction: Frustration at the person's defensiveness, especially when they are normally receptive.Key Discovery: Austin realized he was applying coaching tools only in formal coaching contexts, not in peer-to-peer colleague interactions.1. Separate the Person from the Problem"Water Bottle" Analogy: Frame the issue as an object separate from the person.Neutral Language: Use terms like "workable" vs. "unworkable" instead of "right" vs. "wrong."Decouple Performance: Define "performance" beyond a single metric (e.g., sales) to include process adherence, quality, and teamwork.2. Build Relational CapitalPraise Publicly, Reprimand Privately: This avoids triggering face-saving behavior.Personal Conversations: Invest in non-work discussions to build trust."Admin" vs. "Intimate" Conversations: Be clear on the type of conversation you're having.3. Manage Your Internal StateDecouple Anger from Passion: Reframe your intensity as passion for the person's success."Angry for you, not at you": A powerful reframe to communicate support."Help, Hug, or Listen?": Before offering advice, ask yourself what the other person needs.Friction (von Clausewitz): The gap between theory and practice is constant. The goal is to improve your ability to overcome it, not eliminate it.Relatability: Leaders should selectively share their own struggles to be more human and relatable, avoiding an "impossible ideal" that discourages the team.Coaching Permission: Coaching is most effective when the other person has granted permission.Austin: Apply the feedback framework (water bottle, neutral language, decoupling performance) in future colleague conversations.Austin: Proactively build relational capital through personal conversations and public praise.Austin: Practice reframing internal frustration as passion for the other person's success.
Chaz and AJ continued to relive the Knicks tip-in winner, this time hearing the call in multiple languages. (0:00)Allen Devlin from CBS NY was on the phone with Chaz and AJ this morning, to talk about the unlikely circumstances that created an all-time live hit as the Knicks completed the comeback win in Game 4. (7:23)In Dumb Ass News, Chaz and AJ had to share a call from yesterday that everyone needed to hear. Allen from Fairfield wanted to serenade the young lady who shared a bottle of water with him at the beach. (20:23) Chaz and AJ talked about the impressive lineup of celebrity row at Madison Square Garden, and spoke with Geoff Guy, who recently got to meet Alice Cooper after finding his credit card stuck in a gas pump. On May 28, 2023, 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack Belton walked into a store in Columbia, South Carolina. Minutes later, he was running for his life down the street. Two grown men chased him. One shot him in the back. The sheriff confirmed he stole nothing. The coroner confirmed the fatal wound was to his lower back — consistent with someone running away. On June 1, 2026, a jury found the man who killed him not guilty of murder.Content Note: This episode discusses the murder of a child, systemic racism, anti-Black violence, and contains strong language and emotional content. This conversation is appropriate for mature audiences ready to engage with issues of racial injustice in America. In this heavy, emotional episode recorded just days after the verdict, Dr. Marjorie and Michael don't just discuss the case of Cyrus Carmack Belton. They grapple with what it means to live and raise Black children in America. They compare it to Trayvon Martin. They discuss anti-Black racism not just from white people but from other communities. They break down the normalization of anti-Black violence, the political failures of leadership on both sides, the comforts of privilege that inoculate people from action, and the necessity of economic disruption for real change. The conversation is about social cohesion and accountability. About how injustice after injustice piles up until we stop asking "can this happen in America?" because we know the answer is yes — it already has, for 250 years. There is also a powerful moment where Dr. Michael rejects language that diminishes Black humanity, refusing to accept the phrase "the least of us" and insisting on full humanity and equal dignity. This episode calls for more than conversation. It demands action. Economic disruption. Political accountability. Refusal to accept the normalization of anti-Black violence. Released just before Juneteenth 2026 — a reminder that 250 years later, Black Americans are still fighting to be seen and treated as human.Inside the Episode:A 14-Year-Old Boy and a Bottle of Water. The facts of the Cyrus Carmack Belton case. "A bottle of water is worth chasing somebody down and shooting them in the back? That can't be anything but anti-Black racism."He Looks Like Trayvon. Ten years later, another Black child killed, another not guilty verdict. Pattern recognition across time. The case that reignited the national conversation about systemic racism and racial justice in America.Anti-Black Racism Is Not Just From White People. A complicated, necessary conversation about anti-Black racism from multiple communities — and what that means for Black children navigating the world. What We Tell Our Black Children. The talk every Black parent dreads. "Buckle up, because the world is still not one where it feels safe for you to be Black." What Black youth protection actually looks like in 2026.Economic Impact Is the Only Language in Common. "There has to be an economic impact, because that is the only language that people have in common. Anytime anything has worked, it's because it was an economic impact." Showing up to protest is not enough.250 Years Later. Juneteenth is June 19. From emancipation to the Cyrus Carmack Belton verdict — one unbroken line. This is essential listening before Juneteenth 2026."250 years later, we are still fighting to be seen and treated as human." "He didn't steal anything. The sheriff said so himself." "Buckle up, because the world is still not one where it feels safe for you to be Black." "A bottle of water is worth chasing somebody down and shooting them in the back?" "We are not the least of any f***ing thing." "Comfort is a diffusion, not a protection." "There has to be an economic impact, because that is the only language that people have in common."

Fans will not be permitted to bring reusable water bottles into World Cup stadiums due to safety issues, as stated by Fifa in a recent policy update. The official code of conduct for the stadium previously indicated: "To clarify, empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles with a capacity of up to (1 litre) may be taken into the stadium."However, just seven days prior to the tournament commencing on 11 June, the prohibition has been extended to include bottles, cups, jars, and cans, with Fifa asserting that this measure will reduce the risk of injury from fans throwing objects. "Fifa is dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of all players, referees, fans, volunteers, and staff," the governing body of football stated in an announcement.Fans will have the option to purchase water within the stadium, and Fifa has assured that prices will not exceed the standard rates for the venue. This reversal follows alerts from scientists regarding the inadequacy of Fifa's heat safety protocols for the tournament, as temperatures at 14 of the 16 host venues are expected to surpass hazardous levels. "Fifa collaborates closely with each host city committee and local authorities on measures to mitigate heat for fans attending the stadium, which may include amenities such as misting stations, fans, hydration stations, cooling tents, and more within the stadium area," Fifa's statement elaborated."Inside the stadium footprint, pricing for water bottles for the Fifa World Cup 2026 will remain consistent with other events held at each stadium." The change in policy comes amid complaints that fans are being hit by "extortionate" ticket prices and inflated train fares. Fans were also prevented from taking bottles into stadiums at the last World Cup in Qatar.

Mike Levy, Lisa Charleboise, and Logan Jones-Wilkins hold down the fort talking about pee, ultra-racing, and Strava feuds. First, Levy tries to pry embargoed information out of Jones-Wilkins before Charleboise recaps another massive weekend ride. From there, it's on to the main topics: Urine Intel from the Giro d'Italia The trio tackles the recent UCI warnings at the Giro d'Italia. Racers have been put on notice for urinating into their water bottles and tossing them to the roadside. Levy attempts to defend the logistical efficiency of the "bottle pee," while Logan and Lisa outline the absolute horror for roadside fans hoping to snag a souvenir bidon. Strava Feuds and Indoor Aerobars Addressing reader questions, the team discusses the mental health aspects of chasing Strava KOMs in highly saturated areas. Logan shares his philosophy on defending niche segments against World Tour riders, and Levy confesses to running a high aerobar setup on his indoor Zwift bike strictly for comfort during three-hour sessions. The Traka 560 Controversy & Ultra-Racing Ethics The crew dives deep into the messy world of ultra-distance racing. Logan breaks down why Victor Bosoni's victory at the Traka 560km Adventure event sparked intense debate after he cut approximately 400 meters off the official GPS track. This leads to a fiery debate: Lisa firmly believes missing that much of the course is grounds for immediate disqualification, while Levy and Logan argue for a bit more nuance in self-supported "adventure" events. Host Shirley Rooker speaks with Rick Berman, RBB Strategies, who cites numerous studies that reveal very high levels of contaminants in the majority of the bottles tested. The simple solution is to clean them thoroughly, especially the lids and the grooves in the bottles, wash with soap and water daily and put in the dishwasher at least once a week.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Is your son ready?John David was giving the boys a last-minute pack check before heading out on a week-long hike and campout of over eighty miles, when he noticed they only had one water bottle apiece. The trails were long and dusty, and many times there would be no streams or rivers along the way, and they could only find water to filter at the end of the day. He quickly got them more water bottles, and they were ready for the trip. One sip of a Sunday sermon is not enough to carry your son through the week. Teach him to drink deeply of the word, daily refreshing himself by streams of pure water in scripture. Morning and nightly draughts from God's word will sustain him, clear his mind, and give him strength to carry on.For information about raising your son into a godly man, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Two Dubai sellers reveal how they built seven-figure brands via duty-free, Amazon UAE, and quick commerce. One through iconic local products and duty-free dominance, the other through acquiring and scaling an Amazon-first brand across markets. First up is Rami Rabia of Al Nassma Chocolates, a Dubai chocolate pioneer known for camel milk chocolate and giftable products. Rami breaks down the region's offline-heavy reality (with duty-free as a major growth engine), why COVID forced rapid channel diversification, and how Amazon UAE's cold-chain logistics solved the biggest hurdle in selling chocolate online: heat and product sensitivity. He also shares how he uses Helium 10 to track seasonal search behavior tied to Dubai's nonstop calendar of holidays and gifting moments, plus his interest in TikTok Shop once it launches locally. Then Aslam Yousuf, founder of S2C, explains how he acquired an Amazon UAE brand (instead of starting from scratch), scaled it beyond $1M, and used “quick commerce” via Noon to accelerate growth. He dives into the systems behind scaling in competitive categories—brand positioning, packaging upgrades, content overhauls, marketplace expansion (India and KSA), and a hard-earned logistics lesson from choosing the wrong shipping partner. The episode wraps with his view on Helium 10's impact and what it takes to build a regional winner that's ready for bigger markets. How often do you wash your water bottle?
Another weekend in the books. Windows were open. ALMOST got on the Harley yesterday. Still too much dirt & salt on the roads to take her out of the garage just yet. In the news this morning, former President Obama admitted on a recent podcast that aliens are real, a Wisconsin fisherman is going viral for using a porta-potty for an ice shanty, some guys in Prairie du Chien are playing their own version of Olympic curling, and the latest on the search for Nancy Guthrie. In sports, the Badgers upset #10 Michigan State on Saturday, the Bucks are off until Friday, the results of the All-Star weekend in the NBA, and Tyler Reddick won yesterday's Daytona 500! We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we also talked about a possible reboot for "Charlie's Angels". Elsewhere in sports, Chris Paul retires, Kansas State fires their head coach, a college baseball player hit THREE grand slams in a single game, and a hockey team has to apologize after asking it's fans to shower before coming to home games. Speaking of the Olympics, we recapped some of this weekend's action in Italy, including an update on Lindsey Vonn, the US Medal count, the village is running out of condoms, the US men's hockey beatdown of Germany yesterday, and a Slovakian fugitive is arrested after he came out of hiding to attend a hockey game at the Olympics. A couple of cool stories including: a baby giraffe that was just born at the Kansas City zoo, a farmer in Idaho who donated millions of potatoes to local food banks, and a cashier at a Publix grocery store in Georgia who is everyone's favorite. Do you have a reusable water bottle? When was the last time you washed it? Might want to increase the amount of times you run it through the dishwasher! Today is "President's Day", so make sure you keep that in mind if you have errands to run later. Some stuff might not be open. We talked about the best & worst Presidents according to a new survey, and we had some other interesting stats & info on the holiday. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who got arrested and claimed he was George Costanza, a billboard with a QR code for a free burrito is apparently distracting drivers, a guy who ran over a bunch of mailboxes, & a former police chief who is going to jail after he was found guilty of setting a bunch of fires.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this Rohatsu sesshin talk, Chozen reflects on awakening, silent mind, and the constructed personality that both protects and confines us. Drawing on the Buddha's own awakening, the teaching of “don't-know mind” from Seung Sahn Sunim, Eckhart Tolle's modern account of disidentification from thought, and the koan of Isan tipping over the water bottle, she points to the moment when thinking falls away and original mind reveals itself—vast, intimate, and free from entanglement. The invitation is to trust this silence, let personality become optional, and allow awakening to flow through the body and into everyday life. ★ Support this podcast ★

What if the idea that changes your life… starts with something as ordinary as being thirsty? In 2007, Travis Rosbach walked into a sporting goods store looking for a water bottle—and stumbled onto a problem no one had solved. Plastic, BPA-lined bottles dominated the market. Metal alternatives leaked, dented, or couldn't keep drinks cold enough. Travis's solution? A double-walled, vacuum-insulated, stainless steel bottle. His expertise? Non-existent. This is the improbable story of how Hydro Flask was built—from scavenging metal parts in China, to selling bottles at outdoor markets, to getting into Whole Foods by sheer timing and luck, to a last-minute investor who walked in on the day Travis planned to shut the company down.Hydro Flask would go on to become one of the most recognizable and popular bottles in the country.
