He launched a series with DAVID ATTENBOROUGH & launched popular TV CHANNELS. He gave a BLUR member a v special ride! He offered to teach DAVE GROHL drums and he's followed by BARACK OBAMA and he's in one of my favourite bands. My guest has SO much insightful advice and recommendations and some great stories. He's helped shape the media and music industries for over 3 decades and he's a drummer and guitarist in a great band. He got his first glimpse into the media world as a teenager by secretly following a courier into a music magazine and went on to climb the fence at Glastonbury before being invited back with VIP backstage passes. He went on to work for some of the world's greatest media brands launching a show with David Attenborough and even launching a popular TV channel. He's been a good friend of mine for a very long time and I can tell you he's a total original and a wildcard on a night out whether he's offering to give Dave Grohl drum lessons or dragging an almost naked member of Blur around a dance floor. Or meeting other greats like Nina Simone, James Brown, Van Morrison, John Cleese, the cast of Monty Python and so many other interesting people. I loved this episode as my guest is such an intelligent, funny and warm human being. Includes a HIP HOP song I wrote about our guest. I was introduced to him by our mutual friend Damian Lewis, he's starred in award winning films and he became close friends with Hollywood actor Tom Hardy who's since been nominated for an Academy Award. They've acted together and even set up a theatre company together. My guest's also a stand up comedian who's performed with stars like Harry Hill, Stephen Merchant and Russell Howard. I run with him and I wrote a rap about our guest DAVID WHITNEY that you can hear at the beginning of this episode. There's also a crazy song at the VERY END of the outro after I have done ALL of my spoken outro. JOHN MEAGHER was recently featured in ROLLING STONE who said he was "Ireland's next great comedian." The Irish Times said “it's like watching a young Irish Billy Connolly” he won an award at last year's Edinburgh Festival and he's been a finalist at the greatest Best Act competitions including ones at The Hackney Empire, The Leicester Mercury's, the BBC AND The Leicester Square Theatre. He's also turned his hand to investigative journalism and has an explosive documentary coming out on BBC Radio 4 in April called The Devil's Own which is going to shock the world. I was lucky enough to get an inside scoop and I can't believe what he's uncovered. It's ostensibly about a crazy underground devil-worshipping cult called the White Hoods but what he uncovers is stranger than any fiction you can imagine and if it wasn't going out on the BBC I wouldn't even believe it. He tells us more in this episode. I've written 2 songs about my guest. One's at the beginning and one's at the end so let me know what you think and whether I should ever do this again!? My guest this week is Tom Ward, one of the UK's funniest comedians. He performed a storming set on BBC's LIVE AT THE APOLLO and he's been on TV shows like QI and ROAST BATTLE. He hosts a show called Abandoned Engineering where they visit breathtaking places all over the world like Abandoned Olympic Villages, Huge Space Rocket Facilities, Ghost Towns and Jungle Cities. Time Out said he has fine jokes and star presence and Best of London gives him 5 stars and says he is a hilarious comedian, he's wonderful, warm, funny, loveable and relatable. He's got a show at this year's Edinburgh Festival called Choose Your Delusion and then he starts a UK wide tour of the same show… This is Best Of London According To… Tom Ward For tickets to his forthcoming Edinburgh show click here: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/tom-ward-choose-your-delusion For Tom's Linktree including tickets to his forthcoming tour click here: https://linktr.ee/tomwardcomedian Please FOLLOW and SUBSCRIBE TO BEST OF LONDON as we have great shows coming up. Our guest is an amazing musician and knows London inside out as he's one of the few people who actually grew up within the close-knit italian community of Soho in London. He's toured the world with bands and written breathtakingly beautiful albums and soundtracks including one which was part of a film by a director who's films have won Oscars and as you'll find out it was a film that I was in. Ben Holland was one of the biggest names in body boarding in the 90’s and early 2000’s. His career took off at the age of 15 where he was signed to some big paying sponsorship deals which allowed him to travel around the world surfing perfect waves. Being so young, full of energy and cash in his pocket he lived a life most of us can only dream about. Partying like a maniac, surfing around the world on the world tour and being one of the first to surf some of the waves that are so famous today. Ben takes us on a wild adventure, with his passionate story telling recounting some of the most amazing moments of his life.

Work Of Wrestling host Tim Kail reviews AEW's All Out, the blossoming wrestling promotion's final pay-per-view before the premiere of their weekly show on TNT. Horses and dogs and librarians, oh my! Tim covers all of All Out's five hours, which is the first constructive criticism he offers. From there, he talks #WomensWrestling in AEW and why it should be miles ahead of where it is, indy-wrestling's tendancy for its reach to exceed its grasp (sometimes literally), why A Boy and His Dinosaur has quickly become one of the best parts of the promotion, how commentary negatively affected PAC vs Omega (and the entire show for that matter), the incredibly fun Cracker Barrel match, the sincerity and humor of The Best Friends, why the overplayed David vs Goliath story reduces Tim's excitement for the women's title story, using sentient beings as entrance props, the gloriousness of Lucha Brothers vs. The Young Bucks and why AEW will be the definitive destination for tag team wrestling, and why the main event exceeded expectations and resulted in the right inaugural champ. Potable Water (start time 5:31). Here on the Front Range, the last three months have been the driest on record. Usually, we get about 8 inches of rain through this time period. This year, it’s more like three inches of rain. A dry year raises a question that’s always a worry in Colorado -- what can people do to get enough water? The question is even more urgent because more people are moving to Colorado . . . which means, they will demand . . . more water! As for where to get that water when supplies are scarce, Jörg Drewesat the Colorado School of Mines is leading a plan to build city water systems so that we save drinkable water for, well, drinking. And we use less clean water for flushing toilets, washing laundry, and watering lawns. Electric vehicle Infrastructure (start time 14:25). We cover electric vehicle technology a lot on How on Earth, but equally important issues to the vehicles themselves are the infrastructure required to make it work and the government policies. Rocky Mountain Institute, which has an office in Boulder, is an organization that has thought deeply about these issues. With us in the studio is Ben Holland, manager of the Project Get Ready. Hosts: Tom McKinnon and Susan Moran Producer: Jim Pullen Engineer: Jim Pullen Additional contributions: Shelley Schlender and Jim Pullen Executive Producer: Joel Parker Listen to the show:
