Ever wonder how AI applies in Skincare? Welcome to another episode of the Dermhealth.co Podcast! Today, Marni sits down with Isabella Loneragan, founder and owner of Isabella Loneragan Skin and Ragan Skin. Isabella is a skincare industry expert with almost two decades of experience in dermatology and cosmeceuticals. She runs a private clinic in Bowral, NSW, and takes bookings in Sydney by demand. Isabella is known for her intuitive facial treatments, especially her trademarked master treatments, The Intrinsic Facial and The Intrinsic Illumination Infusion. She also founded the Ragan Skin product line and offers educational courses on facial massage mastery. Isabella regularly appears on Ch7 Sunrise and has been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Body+Soul, and Vogue Australia. In this episode, Isabella shares her journey into skincare, how AI connects with skincare, integrating psychological and mental health aspects into her treatments, and the importance of addressing clients' holistic well-being. Key Takeaways: AI's Role in Skincare: AI technology is growing in both medical and cosmetic skincare. While useful for initial diagnostics and product recommendations, it cannot replace the expert care of a skilled dermatologist or therapist. Holistic Approach: Integrating psychological and mental health aspects into skincare treatments is crucial. Isabella emphasises that how clients feel about their skin significantly affects their overall skin health. Consumer Education: Better education around skincare products and treatments is needed. Many misconceptions, such as relying solely on AI diagnostics or using makeup with inadequate SPF, can lead to poor skin health decisions. Social Media Influence: Social media profoundly impacts perceptions of skin health and beauty. Isabella discusses the negative effects of filters and unrealistic beauty standards and suggests ways to promote skin positivity and realistic expectations. Ethical Skincare Practices: Ethical practices in skincare are vital, including avoiding harmful additives and promoting genuinely beneficial products. Isabella highlights the dangers of over-reliance on products marketed with active ingredients, especially for teenagers. It exemplifies his commitment to the exercise of drawing.Hawkes states:I am obsessed by the seemingly endless vitality and flexibility inherent to the act of drawing. Being arguably one of the oldest modes of communication there is something so deeply rooted, open, adaptive and non- exclusive about the practice of making marks on a surface in various ways to embody an idea or sensation. In 2020, Hawkes exhibited in Real Worlds: Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial. In 2019, Hawkes was a finalist in the 2019 Ramsay Art Prize at the Art Gallery of South Australia. He has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards including the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship, Marten Bequest travelling scholarship, and the Asa Masakusa Award. Between 2013 and 2015 he was an artist in residence at Australia House, Japan and exhibited at the 2015 Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial. How do you grow your church's evangelistic ecosystem? Is that possible? 83% of Gavin's church members see personal evangelism as an individual responsibility, yet at most 60% of them had a maximum of two spiritual conversations with non-Christians in the last six months! Gavin Perkins has been researching what may be the causes and blockers to personal evangelism and how we might overcome these to see more people to Christ! (See https://bit.ly/3zUPIZK)So then how could we create a congregational ecosystem where individuals take personal evangelistic initiative? GAVIN PERKINS, is the senior minister of St Judes at Bowral, to the south of Sydney, and he's just completed a major project as part of his doctor of ministry project in this area.http://www.thepastorsheart.net/podcast/gavin-perkins***As The Pastor's Heart grows in audience our opportunities and responsibility grow as well. With the Mary Poppins musical opening in Sydney, I travelled to Bowral NSW, where over a hundred years ago, the author PL Travers OBE (Helen Lyndon Goff) moved with her mother and two young sisters, after the death of their father. Extensive research has uncovered Bowral as the birthplace of the character 'Mary Poppins', providing a lot of inspiration for her books. Local historian Paul McShane, along with his daughter campaigned to have a special statue made, that twice a year magically turns so Mary can catch the East wind - We speak in front of the statue (we get to see it turn) and we visit her home in Bowral. Also what are the connections with fellow Bowral resident, cricketer Sir Donald Bradman? This is a podcast not to be missed! Check our youtube and social pages for more content that can't be missed.

Danica grew up in Bowral, NSW. She loved God, but grew up feeling angry towards Him for various reasons. After finishing uni, she decided to go on a missions' trip to Mazatlan, Mexico, with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) for five months. Little did she know that she would put down roots there, find her husband and create a family with two sweet boys, while making it their mission to spread the Gospel to the city of Mazatlan and beyond. Seven years in, she sits down to chat with me about her change of heart toward God, how God asked her to give up her life of comfort and how evangelism is so much more simple than we make it out to be. If you would like to know more about Youth With a Mission, visit: https://ywam.org/
Understorey brings one report on five reports, all to do with the climate. The news is not good, but there is a glimmer of hope - if only Australia will join with it. There is the [Sustainable Development Report](https://www.sustainabledevelopment.report/reports/sustainable-development-report-2021/) for 2021, gives Australia 10 marks out of a hundred for its climate policies, plunging us into equal last place. There's the [Climate Change Performance Index](https://ccpi.org/), identifying Australia as a climate laggard, hooked on fossil fuels, rich, and wilfully ignorant about the climate action needs of the poorest nations to survive. Out only yesterday was Jubilee Australia Research Centre's ["Hot Money"](https://www.jubileeaustralia.org/resources/publications/hot-money-2021) report on Export Finance Australia's gift to fossil fuel companies - maybe $1.69 billion of finance credit, 2009-2020, when renewables only managed $20 million over that time - or one eightieth of the coal, oil and gas level of financing. Report 4 is the [leaked IPPC Report](https://www.sciencealert.com/someone-leaked-the-next-ipcc-report-here-s-how-experts-are-reacting), due out in 2022, warning that the worst is yet to come, a future world beset by species extinction, widespread disease, unliveable heat, ecosystem collapse, and inundated species. And so we finish with Report Number 5: in February 2021 the fifth United Nations Environment Assembly met, encouraging countries to be "[Making Peace with Nature](https://www.unep.org/resources/making-peace-nature)" to stave off species extinction, climate collapse and global pollution. So there are steps we can take. Understorey this week listens in to former Liberal opposition leader Dr John Hewson (speaking in Bowral in 2019 for a [Climate Action Now Wingecarribee public forum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guLj_gZIFR8)); Stephan Singer, from Climate Action Network International, shares the latest Climate Change Performance Index in December 2020; and UN Secretary-General António Guterres urges us to act, at the time of the 5th United Nations Environment Assembly, in February 2021. No one can say Australia hasn't been warned - or shown a way out. Image: A Glamorgan
Local police in lockdown Australian cities were busy arresting and fining people for having face masks off. Meanwhile, up in Canada local police have done no arresting of those destroying the nation's history. All that and more Western arrested development tonight on Tim's News Explosion. Although Victoria is out of lockdown the state is still imprisoning and prosecuting a number of political dissents. National Socialist Thomas Sewell has been moved from the Melbourne Assessment Prison to Port Phillip Prison as he continues to be held on remand facing armed robbery and assault charges. Nick Patterson was granted bail after nearly a month in custody after being charged with assaulting police during an anti-lockdown protest. A Yarra City Greens councilor Anab Mohamud has been charged with assault after being involved in a nightclub brawl where she screamed homophobic slurs. Brisbane telegram personality Philfy was arrested on outstanding warrants while live-streaming himself without a mask in a Centrelink. Philfy was remanded in custody at least until a court appearance in August. With lockdowns and restrictions affecting four Australian cities over the past week police were out in force. In NSW they arrested the owners of the Bowral organic store for not wearing masks, the WA Police arrested patriot Stephen Wells and his friend for not wearing a mask. In Australian political theater news, the #MeToo2.0 attacks against the Liberal Government continue. Former Liberal MP Julia Banks has written a book with more generalized allegations about bullying plus accusing an unnamed Cabinet Minister of putting his hands on her thigh. The new LNP preselected candidate for Bowan to replace Andrew Laming Henry Pike is in trouble for a decade-old comment claiming that fucking a fat chick makes you beyond redemption. Overseas the cultural Marxists in the lead up to Canada Day have torn down a statue of Queen Victoria and have burnt down several Catholic churches in response to mass graves being uncovered near 19th century Catholic missionary schools for Canada's Indigenous people. One of Donald Trump's former aides has created another new social media platform GETTR which is similar to Twitter. Bloodthirsty neoconservative and former Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld died at the age of 88. It's only until you become a chef when you realise the value of what you learnt at places like KFC or Red Rooster oh so long ago. For Thomas and I, that's something we really bonded over. Handling a fast paced environment, managing prep, learning how to best communicate with your team and so on. All of these skills have stayed with us both and continue to benefit us long after we have left and there are some hilarious memories to look back on. Thomas and I chat about his early starts and making his way through Milton Park (where he met good friend Joel Bickford), Eschalot in Bowral and Bentley restaurant before heading up The Gantry. It's been an incredible journey for him and we relive some of the finer moments of his career like jamming out on the guitar with Joel Bickford and Richard Kemp above the Eschalot restaurant or working in Canadas with some of the finest ingrediants from around the world or what it was like being promoted to his first head chef role at the Gantry. It's a great and super relatable chat that is worth your Saturday or Monday morning time to tune in and set your mood straight. Nick Turner - Turner Design Studio - explores everything from packing a glock pistol in Iraq to what it takes to scale an architectural business to over 100 employees, what does good place making feel & look like, managing the complex issue of community consultation, exploring the notion of planning purity as opposed to planning efficiency and all things property marketing. Nicholas is the Principal and founder of Turner, one of Australia’s leading architectural practices employing around 100 permanent staff from 24 different countries. Within the practice, he leads the design of innovative mixed-use residential, public, workplace, industrial and hospitality projects that are both responsive and memorable, each with a strong identity that reflects a familial approach to repairing and enhancing the urban environment. Projects to date include locations as diverse as China, Indonesia, Nigeria, Iraq, Vietnam and Lebanon as well as locally in Sydney, Wolgan Valley, Melbourne, Tweed Heads, Bowral and a personal project of great significance in Kangaroo Valley - the design of which he literally bet his life on. Recently the practice has opened a new studio in London, offering direct access to opportunities within the UK and wider European markets. Nicholas is an accomplished speaker and presenter of ideas, providing clarity to the process of designing and delivering buildings, helping to steer a definitive course through the often-complex requirements of approvals and construction.
Here is the podcast of the full call of the IDRU Round 5 match between Camden and Bowral from Wire Lane. Commentary from Mike Shean, Gregor McKenzie and Matt Wakeford, thanks to Le Good Services, Forte Financial Services, F2 Sportswear and The Beer Shed.
Kangaroo Valley Fire Storm explores a personal design and building project Nick undertook in the beautiful Kangaroo Valley just a few hours south of Sydney. Now to say he put his life on the line to save this house - is no where near an understatement. He and a few of his mates and some local refugees battled and took refuge from the mega Currowan Fire and Nick’s story of preparing for, fighting and surviving this fire is nothing short of astonishing. It really does talk to Nick’s character and his detailed & thorough approach to everything he does not to mention his courage and self belief in his own design ingenuity - it’s a fascinating story and I strongly encourage you to take the time to listen to the whole thing as Nick is a great storyteller and he really does keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. Featuring: Steve Collins Originally, Berrima was designed to be the capital of the Southern Highlands. Those plans went awry when the railway was built. The Old Hume Highway ran right through Berrima, but the railway was diverted in another direction, passing through Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale, which allowed those towns to flourish and Berrima to remain rather sedentary. Simon Taufel, for five years in a row the ICC's Umpire of the Year and author of Finding The Gaps, is the latest guest of Peter Oborne and Richard Heller in their regular cricket podcast, joining them from Don Bradman's home town of Bowral, NSW, Australia. His book Finding the Gaps can be found here: bookdepository.com/author/Simon-James-TaufelHe offers unique personal insight into the role of modern umpires and match officials at the highest levels of cricket. They have become a “third team”, with responsibilities much wider than interpreting the Laws and match conditions, which makes it possible for the two playing teams to perform. He describes his intense drive for continual improved performance, and the lessons it offers for other walks of life. Injury and chance turned him to an umpiring career at an unusually early age. When he umpired his first Test match (Australia v West Indies December 2000) he was younger than 12 of the players in both teams – an unusual world record which is likely to last, in spite of the trend for younger umpires. He contrasts the minimal pre-match preparations and later feedback for officials at that Test with those of the present day. He comments wryly that umpires are remembered for the 5 per cent or fewer of decisions they get wrong rather than the 95 per cent or more they get right. He gives an example of each. He describes vividly his feelings over mistakes (like grief at a bereavement) and how he tried to move on and learn from them.In a warm tribute to David Shepherd, with some delightful stories, he emphasizes the importance of partnerships and teamwork between umpires and other officials. Simon Taufel describes his terrifying experience as a victim of the attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore in 2009. Movingly, he describes the annual commemoration he holds with other survivors, as well as his feelings on a recent return to Pakistan. Finally, from all his experience as a top-level umpire, he says which of the Laws of cricket he would like to eliminate.Apart from their conversation with Simon Taufel, Peter and Richard react to Michael Holding's powerful and eloquent statements on BlackLivesMatter and the impact of racism. They suggest that he might follow Learie Constantine into the House of Lords, as Lord Holding of the Oval.
In episode 50 of the Mind Your Own Retirement podcast, Deeksie and Kaye get back together to talk money, health and travel for those in retirement – or planning it. First up, author and accountant Dr Adrian Raftery, a.k.a. ‘Mr Taxman’, shares updates on ways retirees can maximise their tax returns as the end of the financial year beckons. And whether you’re enjoying the sunshine in Broome or dodging rain in Adelaide, it’s still winter all over Australia. So Dr Billy Stoupas, practising GP and spokesperson for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, highlights the winter maladies we need to avoid, and how to do so. It’s great to be finally emerging from the strict social distancing triggered by COVID-19, which means travel is right back on the agenda, with New South Wales our first destination in focus. The folk at Destination NSW have just released a list of 213 things to do, revolving around food, culture, nature, wildlife, beaches and Indigenous activities and experiences. We speak with Izabella Lane, tourism coordinator for the Southern Highlands, about this special region of NSW, the main towns of Moss Vale, Mittagong, Bowral, Bundanoon and Berrima, and the amazing Pie Festival that is celebrated across the region in June.
Let's get this road trip started! First stop: Bowral, 2576, NSW. We take a pitstop at the infamous Little Miss Southern Highlands Pageant. Who will take the crown? Probably Jack. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We recorded this episode on the edge of the Sydney Harbour with views from the city to Sydney heads. An amazing guy with heaps of great stories, enjoy.

Tim Storrier's work sweeps you into his imagination: burning ropes in the desert, clothes wrapped around a torso-shaped void, mood-filled skies with clouds that go on forever. One of Australia's premier artists, his paintings often take the form of a memento mori - a reminder of our mortality - with detritus strewn across the landscape to remind us of what is left after life has moved on. He has been painting for over 50 years and in 1968 was the youngest artist ever to win the Sulman prize at 19 years of age. He has since won the Sulman a second time and has been awarded the Archibald Prize, the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and Archibald Packing Room Prize. His work is held in most Australian national and state art institutions and in private collections across the world. He has exhibited in dozens of solo shows including a stunning survey show in 2011 at S.H.Ervin Gallery, was a trustee of the Art Gallery of NSW for most of the 90s and has been awarded a member of the Order of Australia for service to the arts. He’s also known for being forthright and at times controversial and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him at his historic home in Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW. We talk about finding one’s voice, his friendships with John Olsen and Brett Whiteley and he talks of the aftermath of Whiteley’s death - he was the person the police called to identify Brett Whiteley’s body - as well as his views on the Archibald and post modern art (not all positive!). To become a better podiatrist you cannot underestimate the value of ongoing education, and as part of our registration requirements you must be involved in continuing professional development, CPD, but living in rural areas do not always make this easy compared to our city counterparts. Josh Truscott, the owner of Ultimate Podiatrist, makes CPD easy for podiatrists in both Australia and the UK and helps take away the pain of compliance with registration boards. Josh Truscott graduated from Latrobe University in 1998 and travelled and worked for a few years in Canada and the UK before settling down in private practice in Tasmania and eventually Bowral, NSW. On this episode we discuss: 1:02 - CPD in Australia and the UK, and the obstacles rural podiatrists face with educating because of travel and time. "The more you study and the more practice the more you realise you don't know" 6:00 - Working overseas after graduation. 9:30 - The transition from an employee to a business owner and eventually starting Ultimate Podiatrist. 12:35 - Selling his Bowral podiatry business and benefits of going fulltime with Ultimate Podiatrist. 14:20 - Ultimate Podiatrist has developed different types of learnings activities. For example, Expert Presentations Modules are webinars shown ten times per year and presented by experts in the podiatry profession. Simon Bartold, episode 04 was the first expert presenter. Webinar Schedule Webinars are usually run on the first Monday of each month, February - November, and recorded. To date, there are 25 recorded versions in the archives. After a podiatrist watches a webinar and completes a short quiz, a certificate is generated for proof of CPD compliance. 17:20 - Membership categories: Monthly and yearly subscriptions or you can pay per module. 20:15 - Josh runs additional events throughout the year himself, and also some events are joint ventures. 22:45 - Finding something you enjoy and your good at and pursue this interest. 27:20 - What's next? A career development program /personal coaching. 29:00 - Benefits of looking for a mentor and talking with more experienced podiatrists. 30:05 - Vital Few and Trivial Many. The Podiatry Gods 32:35 - Content is relevant to all podiatrists, but tracks are specific to each country, so US Podiatrists would also benefit. 34:30 - Josh is always looking for people to collaborate with so if you have a course or workshop contact him at josh@ultimatepodiatrist.com.au or via his websites: AUSTRALIA - UltimatePodiatrist.com.au UNITED KINGDOM - Ultimate podiatrist.co.uk If you have any questions about this episode, podiatry marketing or one-on-one business mentoring, please email me at tf@tysonfranklin.com LIVERPOOL Workshop How To Apply The Six Pillars of Marketing To Grow Your Podiatry Business. Vanessa Stockard's work is powerful. If you look into the eyes of her ‘Self-portrait as new mum’ which is hanging in the Archibald Prize this year you’ll probably see something different to the person standing next to you. Her expert use of colour and mixture of some looser and other more deliberate marks makes it one of those beguiling paintings where the expression is so subtle that it’s open to multiple interpretations. She's been painting for over 20 years, had over 15 solo shows in Australia and the US and has been in many more group exhibitions, but this year Stockard has really stepped it up a gear with her selection as a finalist in both the Archibald Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Award. She lives in Bowral in the southern highlands of NSW with her husband and 18 month old daughter in the beautiful and fabulously eclectic home her husband William Wolfenden designed and built. The plans included a roomy studio where she spends as much time as she can, constantly exploring new ideas. In this episode, we talk about what it’s been like being a parent for the first time, why she forced herself to do dozens of self portraits, life at boarding school and why humour is so important in her life. We also talk about Instagram, taking risks and her fascinating Derek Milkwood series - all with a good dose of humour. She's vivacious, funny and incredibly talented - don't miss this interview!
