Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 2nd June. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Rimac Nevera Is A True Electric Hypercar “Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac is taking its radical C_Two concept into production with a raft of improvements and a new name: Nevera. The culmination of three years of development following the C_Two concept's unveiling in March 2018, the €2 million (£1.72m) Lotus Evija rival has been renamed in tribute to the strong and sudden storms that occur on the Croatian coastline." writes Autocar: "Rimac highlights that the Nevera is 2.5sec quicker to 186mph than was initially planned, needing just 9.3sec. Claimed to be capable of accelerating from rest to 62mph in just 1.85sec and covering a quarter mile in just 8.6sec, the Nevera will be the fastest-accelerating production car yet built and its 258mph top speed puts it roughly on a par with the W16-powered Bugatti Chiron." "Legacy automotive is doing its best as the electric revolution gathers serious momentum but from the land of Tesla – Nikola that is, not Elon Musk’s outfit – comes a company whose new car turns everything you thought you knew about hypercars on its head. Should you still be clinging to the notion that EVs are somehow missing something, prepare to be converted. Forever." is how Top Gear put it: "The car’s architecture encompasses a 6,960-cell, 120kWh Lithium/Manganese/Nickel battery pack in an H shape along the spine and behind the cockpit. There are four surface-mounted permanent magnet motors driving each wheel individually, the most advanced torque vectoring ever achieved and a power output equivalent to 1914bhp and 1,740lb ft of torque. A pair of single-speed gearboxes are connected to the front and rear wheels." "The Nevera’s construction is derived from a central carbonfibre monocoque tub, with aluminium subframes bolted at each end to which the axles are mounted. The battery pack also forms a structural part of the carbon tub itself, adding 37 per cent extra stiffness to the torsional rigidity rating. Suspension is of a double wishbone design at all four corners, with adaptive dampers and an adjustable ride height giving the Nevera increased adjustability within the driver mode systems." says evo magazine: "Like most EVs, braking is dealt with by two systems, with Rimac’s 300kW regeneration capability being the most powerful of any production EV, backed up by a 390mm set of carbon-ceramics discs and six-piston calipers from Brembo. The braking system is entirely by-wire, with a feedback motor built in to the hardware designed to merge brake feel from the two systems into one linear response. " "Rimac’s All-Wheel Torque Vectoring 2 system also helps here, bolstering grip and traction. The tech takes the place of conventional traction and stability control and governs the amount of torque sent to each wheel individually, with the parameters linked to seven different driving modes. These include Sport, Drift, Comfort, Range, Track and two Custom modes." according to Autoexpress: "Sport sharpens the throttle, steering, and brake response and firms up the suspension, while Drift mode “supplies more torque to the rear wheels to accentuate oversteer and help hold the car in a controlled power slide on the track.” Range adjusts the drivetrain to achieve the 340-mile claimed maximum, while Track mode “sets the Nevera to full, unrestrained configuration to help drivers exploit the car’s full potential,” according to Rimac." "Rimac has developed an “AI driving coach” feature that leverages the Nevera’s 12 ultrasonic and six radar sensors, as well as 13 cameras to help “optimize and enhance the driver’s on-track performance.” It does this by providing track-specific audio and visual cues for when to brake for, where to turn into, and when to accelerate out of a corner." according to The Verge: "Of course, very few people will have to worry about whether they can properly pilot a Nevera. Rimac is only making 150 of them, and they’ll each start around $2.4 million." https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/rimac/nevera https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/rimac-ctwo-ev-hypercar-enters-production-1888bhp-nevera https://www.evo.co.uk/news/20434/production-rimac-nevera-revealed-1887bhp-concepttwo-ready-to-go https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/355147/new-rimac-nevera-electric-hypercar-unveiled-1888bhp https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/1/22463499/rimac-nevera-production-c-two-concept-hypercar Headlines Again120kWh battery packfour electric motor1.4MW of power1,914 horsepowertop speed of 258 miles per hourcustom liquid coolingmechanical knobs and switches to feel the car Form follows function - The front bonnet profile, underbody flap, rear diffuser and rear wing can each move independently, driven by complex algorithms that provided the optimum aerodynamic configuration for every driving situation. World’s most advanced monocoque construction -The level of unmatched strength and safety this provides has contributed to the Nevera meeting strict global homologation standards, and delivering the most rigid structure of any car ever made. Driving the futureCapable of instantly summoning maximum torque from the first moment, the Nevera’s electric motors are 97 per cent efficient – compared with 40 per cent for the most effective internal combustion engines – and completely maintenance-free throughout their operating life. Minimalist design cabin, maximum comfort and control -With space for two occupants in full race regalia and their luggage, Nevera is as much a capable grand tourer as it is a performance hypercar. Digital screens soak up needless toggles and switches, leaving only essential tactile controls, giving more space to enjoy Nevera’s carefully designed interior. The cockpit features a trio of high-definition TFT screens, which present as much, or as little, information as the user requires. Configured for both track driving and comfort, the layout of the cockpit is divided into two zones. The focus of the top segment is entirely placed on driving pleasure and performance, while the lower part houses the infotainment system, comfort controls and driving data. Tactile billet aluminium rotary controls and switches – including three displays with rotating control – provide a resolutely analogue feel, tailored to enable the driver to utilise the cutting-edge digital technology in an even more engaging manner. From the cockpit, the driver can monitor every aspect of the car’s performance with real-time telemetry – downloadable to a laptop or smartphone for later review. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. ARRIVAL LIST AT A $13BN VALUATION "Arrival, a British startup that produces zero-emission public transit vehicles, has listed on the Nasdaq with a current valuation of $13bn, making it one of the largest-ever listings of a UK tech company. The company’s founder, Russian telecoms tycoon and former deputy minister Denis Sverdlov, owned a 76% stake in Arrival at the point of IPO, according to SEC filings, making his share worth $9.8bn." says sifted.eu: "For the first five years of Arrival...Sverdlov funded the company himself, piling $450m into it. In 2020, the company raised $300m from investors Hyundai Motor, BlackRock and Vladimir Potanin, one of Russia’s richest people. It’s developing zero-emission electric vehicles for commercial use: they’re made from a composite material that the company says is lighter and cheaper than steel. Arrival says its cars can be customised to specific companies’ needs. In October last year, it signed a deal with the United Parcel Service to provide 10k vehicles and an option to buy a further 10k — a deal worth $1.2bn. Arrival will also begin trialling electric buses on public roads in the UK from this autumn in a partnership with British bus operator First Bus. Arrival said it projects being cash-flow positive by 2023 and generating a gross profit of nearly $4bn by 2024." Their philosophy is about micro factories in, or close to, major cities. They say there are 560 cities with a 1million+ population which have the potential to support a micro factory. Starting just north of London and Rock Hill, S Carolina. https://sifted.eu/articles/arrival-nasdaq-listing/ RIMAC OPENS R&D CENTRE IN THE UK "Rimac has cut the ribbon on its first R&D office in the UK as it gears up for the launch of the production version of its C_Two electric hypercar" reports Autocar: "Based in Warwick Enterprise Park, Warwickshire, the office is planned to employ 30 people by the end of 2021. However, Rimac said it could “expand significantly in the years to come” as the company progresses its product lines. The office will collaborate with Rimac’s Croatian headquarters, enabling the firm to take advantage of British engineers, whom Rimac founder and CEO Mate Rimac regards as among the best in the world." https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-environment/rimac-opens-rd-centre-uk TESLA CLAIMS EPA RANGE NEEDS A DRAINED BATTERY "In response to an independent range test, Tesla has reportedly claimed that the EPA range on its vehicles can be achieved by draining the battery pack beyond the zero-mile displayed range. Last month, [Electrek] reported on Edmunds conducting independent range tests on a bunch of electric vehicles to compare them to their EPA estimates. The results showed that Tesla is using the most optimistic versions of its EPA estimated range in its advertising compared to other automakers." according to Fred at Electrek: "Now Edmunds is out with a follow-up report in which they claim that Tesla reached out to them following their test to state that they should have accounted for the “buffer” that comes after the displayed range reaches zero miles" Edmunds said: "Needless to say, Tesla was not happy with our test results, and we received a phone call. Tesla’s engineers disputed our figures. They argued that we’d underestimated their cars’ true range because our test ran to an indicated zero miles rather than to a stop. Tesla argued that even when the indicated range hits zero, there’s still a safety buffer. The engineers reckoned that if you add this buffer, the distance measured to when the battery is spent, their cars would match the EPA results. Our answer to Tesla’s dismay with our initial results is that, yes, two of the automaker’s vehicles can match the EPA’s range estimates in the Edmunds EV range test. But that’s only under specific circumstances and by driving each vehicle past zero indicated miles of range." https://electrek.co/2021/03/25/tesla-claims-epa-range-achieved-electric-cars-by-draining-battery-beyond-0-mile-range/ EUROPE: MORE THAN 600 TESLA SUPERCHARGING STATIONS "The number of Tesla Supercharging stations in Europe has recently exceeded 600 in 27 countries (with more than 6,000 individual charging stalls). On average, that's 10 stalls per station. The network has grown significantly over about eight years since Model S entered the market (initially in 2013). There were less than 20 stations as of the end of 2013. As of the end of 2014, it increased to more than 110 and then to almost 200 as of the end of 2015. At the beginning of 2020, the number of stations increased to 500 and now it's 600." says InsideEVs: "The largest station in Europe is in Norway at Nebbenes with 44 stalls. Europe is no longer the second biggest market for Superchargers because China has accelerated in 2020 and now has more than 925 stations. That's actually pretty close to the 1,125 in the U.S." https://insideevs.com/news/496754/europe-600-tesla-supercharging-stations/ THE END OF TESLA’S DOMINANCE "He doesn’t date a synth-pop star, publicly puff on blunts, or profess to want to die on Mars, but Herbert Diess is starting to look and sound an awful lot like Elon Musk. The chief executive officer of Volkswagen AG kicked off a March 15 news conference modeled after Tesla Inc.’s “Battery Day”—Diess called his “Power Day”—by declaring that there’s only one way to quickly reduce emissions from transportation: Go electric." writes Bloomberg: "EVs are shifting from what seemed like a one-man show to an extravaganza with an increasingly crowded stage. Although VW has as good a chance as anyone to share top billing with Tesla, what’s less clear is the rest of the cast. Tesla has done to the auto industry what Netflix Inc. did to cable TV, speeding the shift away from internal combustion in much the same way easy access to Breaking Bad and hundreds of other shows spurred consumers to take the scissors to their Comcast contracts." https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-24/tesla-tsla-and-elon-musk-s-dominance-is-threatened-by-volkswagen THE NEW NORMAL "Central Illinois, best known for auto insurance, corn and soybeans, finds itself hosting a startup that touts its own expertise in lithium ion battery architecture and cloud computing. The majority of new vehicles sold worldwide in 2040 are forecast to be electric, and Rivian appears set on taking a big slice of that pie." reports CNN: "Bloomington-Normal can feel the effects of Rivian's growing significance. Some real estate agents are asking potential home buyers to submit their offers just hours after open houses end, a practice local real estate agent Greg Zavitz said he hadn't previously seen in 35 years of business in the area. Hotels are filling with Rivian employees, defying the national trend of vacancies brought on by the pandemic." https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/24/cars/rivian-illinois-town/index.html KONA EV OWNERS SAY HYUNDAI MISHANDLING RECALL "Some owners of Hyundai Motor's Kona electric vehicles say the South Korean automaker is bungling a major recall with delays and poor communication, and risks losing buyers as it targets the No.3 spot in the fast-growing sector. Hyundai said last month it would replace the battery systems in some 82,000 electric vehicles globally at a cost of $900 million following fires in 15 Kona EVs." says Yahoo! Finance: "But Hyundai has yet to convey a clear plan to owners on when and how they can expect to have a potential fire hazard they are driving fixed, some of the owners have complained." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/kona-ev-owners-hyundai-mishandling-230000921.html USED HYBRID VALUES SLASHED "The pandemic’s impact on the private hire industry has severely affected second-hand hybrid car values. Non-plug-in models have traditionally been the tool of choice for the likes of Uber drivers, thanks to the reliability and suitability for town and city driving, and this generated good demand and healthy prices for used examples" says Autocar News: "Prices of petrol hybrids at three years and 60,000 miles dropped by 10.1% year on year in January. Values of used petrol hybrids fell by 16.9% during the week beginning 8 February" https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-environment/analysis-used-hybrid-values-slashed-demand-falls-pandemic HEAVY-DUTY TRUCKING MAY BE 'NEXT BIG FRONTIER' "Transitioning all of the United States' medium- and heavy-duty trucks to zero-emissions vehicles by 2040 would lead to cumulative pollution-related savings of $485 billion by 2050, according to Jennifer Helfrich, senior manager of state policy at Ceres." says Utility Dive: "California is the national leader when it comes to electrifying transportation, though other states are following suit, according to experts. Zero-emissions vehicles are planned to make up 100% of California light-duty sales by 2035, including short-haul and drayage trucks. The state's full transition to ZEV buses and heavy-duty long-haul trucks is expected to be completed by 2045." Opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one. Especially our host and today's guest. Cynical, hypocritical, and arrogant are just a couple words we might use to describe these guys. On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan is joined by Justin Zarr as they complain, rant, and B.S. about the state of the hunting community and hunting industry. They bitch about social media, weapons used for hunting, the lack of unity in the hunting community, and how major corporation are putting their foot in the door trying to market their products to the hunting and outdoor demographic. If you are interested in listening to two assholes talk shit, this is the episode for you. Enjoy! Nine Finger Chronicles is Powered by Simplecast

MERCEDES-BENZ EQS SUV PROTOTYPE TOWING "A prototype of an SUV version of the upcoming all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS was recently seen in Germany, when towing a trailer during tests. We don't know much about this vehicle, beside that it's based on the Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform (just like EQS, EQE and EQE SUV" says InsideEVs: "For sure it will be a large, luxury SUV, with a target range of up to 700 km (435 miles) in the WLTP test cycle. With trailer, we would expect maybe 200-250 miles. The EQS to be launched this year, but even this model is still undercover. If the EQS to be the first all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQ model in the U.S., then the SUV version has a chance to be the second." https://insideevs.com/news/466933/mercedes-eqs-suv-prototype-towing-spy-video/ PANDEMIC CHIP SHORTAGES ARE SHUTTING DOWN AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTION "Advanced electronics have weaved their way into the modern car, from engine to infotainment and climate control to the buttons now sprinkled throughout the passenger cabin. The gains in amenity and efficiency can’t be sniffed at, but it leaves manufacturers reliant on semiconductor suppliers to get cars out the door. Over the past year, it’s become much more complicated — with many automakers having to slow production in the face of integrated circuit shortages that can be traced back to Spring of 2020" says the Hackaday.com website: "Automakers were forced to scale back production as factories closed to avoid spreading the deadly virus. This meant slashing orders with suppliers, particularly as the just-in-time nature of modern automobile production means there’s little to no space to warehouse excess parts in factories. Tier-one supplier Bosch have noted the shortage is particularly acute in parts used for engine and transmission control units." https://hackaday.com/2021/01/18/pandemic-chip-shortages-are-shutting-down-automotive-production/ FIRST LOOK AT TESLA’S NEW STRUCTURAL BATTERY PACK "Electrek obtained the first picture of Tesla’s new structural battery pack with a honeycomb architecture that will power its future electric vehicles. Currently, Tesla builds battery packs by combining cells into modules, which when put together form a battery pack. That battery pack is installed into the vehicle platform. The difference with this new concept is that Tesla is not using modules and instead builds the entire battery pack as the structural platform of the vehicle" according to electrek: "The structural battery pack is expected to be first used in the Model Y that is going to be built at Gigafactory Berlin and in the new Model S Plaid. The image shows the battery pack without the new 4680 cells in them – showcasing the honeycomb design of the pack" https://electrek.co/2021/01/19/tesla-structural-battery-pack-first-picture/ SCANIA’S COMMITMENT TO BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLES The rapid development of electric solutions for heavy duty vehicles includes the fast advancement of battery technology in respect of energy storage capacity per kg. Charging time, charging cycles and economics per kg are improving rapidly. This means these solutions will become more cost effective, primarily in repetitive and predictable applications. They will gradually overtake Scania’s industry-leading fossil and biofuel powered solutions in most transport applications. The company has already launched a fully electric truck as well as a plug-in hybrid truck. In a few years’ time, Scania plans to introduce long-distance electric trucks that will be able to carry a total weight of 40 tonnes for 4.5 hBy 2025, Scania expects that electrified vehicles will account for around 10 percent or our total vehicle sales volumes in Europe and by 2030, 50 percent of our total vehicle sales volumes are expected to be electrified.ours, and fast charge during the drivers’ compulsory 45-minute rest. https://www.volkswagenag.com/en/news/2021/01/scania_commitment_battery.html MIAMI-DADE STARTS TRANSITION TO ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUS FLEET "Miami-Dade County Public Schools has made the decision to convert its fleet from diesel buses into an electric fleet. This push was driven by Holly Thorpe, a middle school student who used her science fair project to convince the school board that this switch was necessary." says CleanTechnica: "Superintendent Alberto Carvalho shared the good news with Thorpe that the district was applying for federal grant money from the $2.8 billion settlement fund that was a result of the Volkswagen Dieselgate scandal. “We’re finally going to turn the yellow school bus green,” Thorpe said. “Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gases. Electric school buses are essential for the health of students and drivers.” https://cleantechnica.com/2021/01/18/miami-dade-starts-transition-to-electric-school-bus-fleet/ VERMONT HAD THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF PUBLIC EV CHARGERS PER CAPITA IN US IN NOVEMBER 2020 "The number of public electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the country has been growing. As of November 2020, Vermont had the highest number of public chargers per capita with 114 EV chargers per 100,000 people, followed by the District of Columbia (81) and California (72), according to the US Department of Energy (DOE)." according to Green Car Congress: "Twenty-one states and the District of Columbia had more than 20 chargers per 100,000 people." https://www.greencarcongress.com/2021/01/20210119-doefotw.html XPENG RELEASES AUTONOMOUS FEATURES FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING "The new autonomous driving feature will allow the company’s flagship P7 sedan to automatically change lanes, speed up or slow down, overtake cars and enter and exit highways." says CNBC: "Xpeng’s NGP is a challenge to Tesla’s autonomous driving system called Autopilot. The highway driving feature will be available on the premium version of the P7 and available to customers in China only." https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/18/chinese-electric-carmaker-xpeng-releases-driverless-features-to-rival-tesla-.html NISSAN QASHQAI ENGINES DETAILED: E-POWER HYBRID "Nissan has detailed the upcoming third-generation Qashqai small SUV’s two new engine options, including a ‘self-charging’ series hybrid called e-Power." says CarsGuide: "The e-Power powertrain combines a 140kW/330Nm electric motor with a 115kW 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, but only the former drives the Qashqai’s front wheels, with the latter instead responsible for charging its ‘high-output’ battery." “This means the engine can always run within its optimal range, leading to superior fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions compared with a traditional internal-combustion engine,” according to Nissan. energy is also recouped via regenerative braking, with the e-Power even featuring the all-electric Leaf small hatchback’s more aggressive ePedal functionality, which enables one-pedal driving in 90 per cent of scenarios." https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/2021-nissan-qashqai-engines-detailed-e-power-hybrid-option-headlines-new-kia-seltos-hyundai RIMAC C_TWO FIRST-YEAR PRODUCTION RUN SOLD OUT "Rumors that the Rimac C_Two is completely sold out have been circulating around the internet since the Croatian company revealed the all-electric hypercar in 2018. However, that’s not completely true. Rimac CEO Mate Rimac took to Facebook yesterday to dispel those rumors with some much-needed context. However, in confirming that the C_Two wasn’t sold out fully, he did admit that the car’s first year of production was completely allocated for." reports Motor1: " the company has had the goal of having the car’s sales be 12 months ahead of its production, which is an amicable goal because the company has yet to reveal the production version or the car’s official name. The CEO also clarified in his post that “sold” to Rimac means that a dealer has ordered the model, though Mate has no concerns about selling the 150 examples the company plans to produce. Rimac will reveal the production version and the car’s official name “soon,” according to Mate’s post. For additional notes and resources check out Douglas’ website.Home, name, ministryLived in Bethsaida (also the home town of Peter and Andrew).Likely a former disciple of John the Baptist.Listed fifth among the apostles.Named after father of Alexander the Great, Philip II of Macedon. His name means "horse-lover." Another piece of trivia: a philippic is any speech or discourse of bitter denunciation. Origin of the term: Athenian orator Demosthenes delivered orations against Philip of Macedon (4th century BC).Not the same individual as Philip the Evangelist (Acts 6:5, 8:5ff, 21:8). There is another Philip in the N.T., Philip the Tetrarch (Luke 3:1; Mark 6:17), one of the sons of Herod the Great.Greek-speaking.Matthew 10:3, 14:3; Mark 3:18, 6:17; Luke 6:14; John 1:43-44, 6:5-7, 12:21-23, 14:8-9; Acts 1:13.Glimpses of PhilipObeys Jesus' call to follow, and then introduces Nathanael to Jesus (John 1:43-46). When questioned, his reply was "Come and see."Sensible assessment of the hungry crowd (John 6:5-7). Yet he sees the problem before he sees (by faith) the solution. Introduces some Greeks to Jesus (John 12:21-23) -- natural, given his own Hellenic background.Wants to see the Father, not quite realizing that whoever has seen the Son has seen the Father (John 14:5-9).What kind of person was he?Level-headedA people-person, possibly a networkerSpiritually thirsty yet sometimes missing the obvious (I think I'm not being unfair with this comment)Tomb discoveryPhilip's tomb identified in Hierapolis, 2011. Read the Fox news article. He died somewhere between 80 and 90 AD.Note, however, the Roman Catholic claim that his body was acquired from Hierapolis by Pope John III (560-572 AD) and interred in a church in Rome. Further traditionsTradition and legend place him in Greece, Syria, Phrygia, and Hierapolis. He was sometimes confused with Philip the Evangelist. The Gospel of Philip (a Gnostic next from Nag Hammadi, discovered 1945)The Acts of Philip (4th C?)Two execution traditions: beheading and crucifixion upside down. What we learn from PhilipHe is willing to follow Jesus.Though he may not initially understand, he sticks around and gets the answer. He realizes the answer lies not in himself, but in Christ (2 Corinthians 4:5).Accordingly, he is happy to introduce others to Jesus.

TESLA, THE FBI AND $1M HACK ATTACK "Earlier this week, the FBI arrested a 27-year-old Russian citizen for attempting to carry out a ransomware attack against a US company. It turns out that company was Tesla" says Autoblog: "Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov traveled to the U.S. and contacted a Russian speaking, non-U.S. citizen who was working at the Tesla Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. After meeting with that individual, Kriuchkov allegedly proposed a deal. He would pay the employee $1 million to deliver malware to computer systems at the Gigafactory. Kriuchkov and his associates allegedly planned to extract data from the network and threaten to make it public if Tesla didn’t pay a ransom." https://www.autoblog.com/2020/08/29/tesla-fbi-ransomware-attack-nevada-gigafactory/ LUCID TEASES POSSIBLE WORLD RECORD 1/4-MILE WITH AIR DREAM EDITION "Lucid has released a teaser for its first sedan, the Air, indicating that it may have set a new electric vehicle world record before its highly-anticipated unveiling event on September 9th." according to Joey at Teslarati: "The video did not reveal any specific time, but the quickly ticking timer that appears in the teaser goes as low as 10.48 seconds, but it is doubtful that this time is the lowest that the vehicle achieved. Lucid used the same style of video for the Air’s range unveiling, and that video only went as high as 441 miles. Lucid revealed the Air had 517 miles of range just four days later. The current world record for a quarter-mile for an electric sedan is held by the Tesla Model S, which completed a drag race in just 10.452 seconds at the Tulsa Raceway Park on May 17th, 2020. The Model S used Ludicrous Mode and the “Cheetah Stance” to record this time." The unveiling date is 9th of the 9th. Fitted to the i3s were the base 22kWh battery pack, the Deka World interior package, and the standard 19" aluminum wheels." reports InsideEVs: "CBS Los Angeles reported some i3s that accumulated just several hundred miles making the whole proposition look more ineffective. If LAPD had around a dozen of these vehicles, the story probably would never have been brought to light, but LAPD had 200, $45,000 electric cars sitting in a parking garage collecting dust. New Century BMW, the dealer that handled the leases initially, is currently selling them as CPO models. some are priced around $15,000, unbeatable for an under warranty, lightly-driven electric car. The order includes around 600 eVito and more than 1,200 eSprinter delivery vans, with Amazon expecting deliveries to begin this year. This is the largest order for electric vehicles from Mercedes transporter unit to date." according to electrive: "The internet retailer is reportedly expecting 10,000 electric delivery vans to come through Rivian, a US start-up, by 2022. The total order is for no less than 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by 2030. In Europe, Amazon has relied on established manufacturers such as Mercedes. In Munich, they use 40 StreetScooters and ten Mercedes eVito. Amazon recently added 340 charging stations and operates more than 150 electric delivery vehicles every day at its distribution centre in Essen together with a Mercedes partner." https://www.electrive.com/2020/08/28/amazon-orders-over-1800-electric-vans-from-mercedes-benz/ RIMAC AUTOMOBILI WELCOMES NICO ROSBERG "Rimac Automobili has welcomed 2016 Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg to the family, as he joined the team in Croatia to customise his personal C_Two and test an advanced prototype. The new estimates of the “levelised cost” of electricity, published this week by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), show that renewables are much cheaper than expected in the previous iteration of the report, published in 2016." reports Simon Evans writing for CarbonBrief: "The new report is the government’s first public admission of the dramatic reductions in renewable costs in recent years. In 2013, the UK government estimated that an offshore windfarm opening in 2025 would generate electricity for £140/MWh. By 2016, this was revised down by 24%, to £107/MWh. The latest estimate puts the cost at just £57/MWh, another 47% reduction. The new estimates include similarly dramatic reductions for onshore wind and solar, with levelised costs in 2025 now thought to be some 50% lower than expected." BEIS now expects offshore wind to become cheaper than onshore by the mid-2030s. This is primarily due to much larger turbine sizes, reaching 20 megawatts (MW) by 2040, up from 9MW today. https://www.carbonbrief.org/wind-and-solar-are-30-50-cheaper-than-thought-admits-uk-government You can listen to all 877 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. Show #852 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 29th July 2020. BMW 3 SERIES ELECTRIC SPIED UNABLE TO HIDE ITS MISSING TAILPIPES "BMW’s continued push of electric vehicles isn’t slowing down. It’s all part of the company’s plan to launch 12 fully electric models over the next few years. It’s ambitious, led by the iX3 SUV the automaker revealed earlier this month. The plan includes an all-electric 3 Series, and new spy photos show development continues on the sedan." says Motor1.com: "If it looks longer than a regular 3 Series, that’s because it is. BMW is building the all-electric sedan on top of the model’s long-wheelbase version. That means this could be a China-only model as BMW only sells the LWB version in the Asian country. The extended platform likely allows the automaker to install bigger batteries, helping extend the range and power while being mindful of the packaging. If that’s the case, then the electric 3 Series could arrive in the US and Europe." https://www.motor1.com/news/436256/bmw-3-series-electric-spied/ VW SAYS THAT THE PANDEMIC HAS MADE EVS "MORE INEVITABLE" "The full impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic remains to be seen, Volkswagen is already predicting that it will be good for electric cars. The pandemic has made electric cars "more inevitable," declared the headline for an in-house interview with Volkswagen Group of America senior VP of strategy Reinhard Fischer posted Friday." according to Green Car Reports: "While sharing services were heavily promoted before the pandemic, fear of virus transmission could cause more people to return to personal cars, Fischer said. In this scenario, electric cars have the added advantage of home charging, allowing drivers to avoid possible infection at gas stations, he said. The dramatic decrease in exhaust emissions during the early days of the pandemic, when most countries enforced strict stay-at-home orders, also showed the potential environmental benefit of electric cars. Municipalities will want to "hold on" to that cleaner air by enacting stricter emissions rules, Fischer said." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1129001_vw-says-that-the-pandemic-has-made-evs-more-inevitable FIRST GERMAN BUYERS OF ID.3 EV ARE YOUNG ‘TECHIE’ MALES "The Volkswagen ID.3 EV briefly became VW’s top-selling retail car in Germany last week when customers began placing orders at dealerships. The orders came more than a year after Volkswagen started taking deposits for its first purpose-built electric car. The company revealed who is buying the EV: mostly young “techie” men who had not previously purchased a VW." says Bradley at Electrek": "The company has received 37,000 pre-orders. About 85% of those deposit-holders have not bought a VW before the ID.3. That’s a dramatically different buyer than the loyal repeat buyers of the VW Golf hatchback. (About 85% of Golf buyers previously purchased a Golf.). The VW sales chief shared demographics about ID.3 buyers. They are predominantly: urban and suburban (not rural). Male self-described “techies”. Buying the ID.3 as a second car for a household" Jürgen Stackmann, VW’s sales chief, told the Financial Times: "The ID.3 is igniting with a population that is about 10 years younger than the average profile [of our customers], which is around 58 in Europe." https://electrek.co/2020/07/27/first-german-buyers-of-id-3-ev-are-young-techie-males-and-first-time-vw-owners/ TESLA MODEL Y REVIEW BY MARQUES BROWNLEE "A recent Tesla Model Y review from prolific YouTube tech reviewer Marques Brownlee has explained why the all-electric crossover is the company’s most important vehicle yet. In his segment with the Model Y, the MKBHD noted that the vehicle could very well tick most of the boxes for consumers looking into buying an EV. That being said, the Model Y still has its room for improvement. " picks up TEsmanian: "One thing that should be noted with the Model Y, particularly its Performance trim, is that its ride is quite firm thanks to its coil suspension. Despite this, the Model Y drives very well, and it behaves a lot like a sports car regardless of its size. And being a Tesla, the vehicle is also loaded to the brim with tech, from its Autopilot suite to its Full Self-Driving system. The YouTube tech reviewer remarked that rear visibility is quite limited due to the crossover’s sloping roofline, and early production units such as the Model Y Performance given for the review still had build quality issues. " https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmanian-blog/tesla-model-y-review-mkbhd-video CHINA NOW ACCOUNTS FOR NEARLY ONE-QUARTER OF TESLA REVENUE "Tesla has been counting on China to maintain its sales momentum, and it seems to be on track with the plan. In the three months ended June 30, the automaker’s revenue in China climbed 102.9% year-over-year to $1.4 billion, according to its latest SEC filing. That means China now makes up 23.3% of Tesla’s total revenues of $6 billion in the quarter, compared to just about 11% in the same period a year before." says TechCrunch: "While shipment in China jumped in the second quarter, Tesla delivered 4.8% fewer vehicles overall in the period due to challenges prompted by COVID-19, including suspended production. The period marked the fourth straight quarter of profitability for the automaker." https://techcrunch.com/2020/07/28/tesla-china-revenue/ ELON MUSK’S NEW FAVOURITE COLOUR FOR TESLA CARS REVEALED "A snap of what is believed to be Tesla CEO and co-founder Elon Musk’s own personal vehicle has revealed the first peek at his new favourite car colour: deep crimson. Tesla’s range of electric vehicles are currently available in only five colours: pearl white, black, dark silver metallic, blue metallic and red multi-coat." according to The Driven: "The image, which was used with permission by McCaffrey, shows a sublime dark reddish purple Model S that Musk confirmed is a “prototype of the colour”." https://thedriven.io/2020/07/29/elon-musks-new-favourite-colour-for-tesla-cars-revealed/ TWO-SPEED GEARBOXES IN ELECTRIC SPORTS CARS ARE STUPID "Mate Rimac: the founder of Rimac Automobili and the man behind the modern electric supercar. Rimac talks about the long and tortuous path to its single-speed gearbox, beginning with a startling admission - he hated the two-speed double-clutch gearbox that was in his first electric supercar, the Concept_One." says Domenick at InsidEVs: "Specifically, he says it was immensely complex, heavy, and inefficient. That's everything you don't want in a high-performance vehicle powered by already-heavy batteries. It makes sense, then, that when starting the C-Two clean-sheet design, they opted for single speed gearboxes. However, when it first debuted, that's not what was in the car. As Rimac tells it, they were just a few months away from the vehicle's Geneva Motor Show reveal when Tesla surprised the world with its upcoming Roadster (which, we should mention, has a single-speed gearbox), boasting acceleration of 0-to-60 miles per hour in 1.9 seconds. That was substantially quicker than the soon-to-be-unveiled C_Two. This development sent the team back to the drawing board and after, no doubt, many late-nights of work, it had revised the design and added a two-speed gearbox so as not to be outdone acceleration-wise. Still, Rimac wasn't satisfied. So, they redesigned the gearbox, motors, and inverter. After the changes, the motor's speed increased from 12,000 RPM to 17,700 RPM, while torque was juiced from 700 newton-meters (516 pound-feet) to 900 newton-meters (664 lb-ft). The change led to a lighting of the rear axle by a significant 60 kilograms (132.27 pounds)." https://insideevs.com/features/436049/rimac-two-speed-gearbox-stupid-video/ ARAL TO SET UP 100+ CHARGING POINTS AT GAS STATIONS IN GERMANY "The mineral oil company Aral has announced that it intends to set up more than 100 fast-charging points at its German filling stations within the next twelve months. The expansion is to continue as the oil giant’s long-term planning envisages “several hundred locations”." says electrive: "In February, Aral completed its pilot project for high power charging with the opening of the fifth charging park. These charging points are operated independently, supply pure green electricity and have a charging capacity of up to 350 kW. Up to now, Aral has relied on charging points that each offer a CCS and CHAdeMO connection. This is exactly what is planned for the 100 new charging points." https://www.electrive.com/2020/07/27/aral-to-set-up-100-charging-points-at-gas-stations-in-germany/ You can listen to all 851 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. Show #811 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Tuesday 16th June 2020. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Welcome to a new Patreon producer NICHOLAS MILLER MODEL S LONG RANGE PLUS: BUILDING THE FIRST 400-MILE ELECTRIC VEHICLE The freedom to travel anywhere is critical to Tesla’s mission. Since the introduction of our 265-mile Model S in 2012, we’ve continued to revisit every aspect of the design to deliver the longest-range and highest-performance electric vehicles on the road. Starting today, all North American Model S Long Range Plus vehicles have an official EPA-rated range of 402 miles, representing a nearly 20% increase in range when compared to a 2019 Model S 100D with the same battery pack design. This significant achievement reflects Tesla’s obsession with efficiency and energy frugality, and is realized through several changes, both iterative and transformational, in core hardware and system architecture development by the Tesla engineering, design and production teams. These changes went into production earlier this year when we first started manufacturing Model S Long Range Plus at our factory in Fremont, California. All Model S Long Range Plus vehicles will receive the new 402-mile rating. Significant Mass Reduction - Several lessons from the engineering design and manufacturing of Model 3 and Model Y have now been carried over to Model S and Model X. New “Tempest” Aero Wheels and Tires - 8.5 inch-wide aero wheels reduce aerodynamic drag compared to the previous wheels on Model S Long Range, and when paired with a new custom tire specifically engineered to reduce rolling resistance, add a 2% improvement to overall range. Increased Drive Unit Efficiency - Further improvements to the gearbox in our front permanent magnet synchronous reluctance motors shared with Model 3 and Model Y have resulted in a further increase of 2% more range while driving on the highway. Maximizing Regenerative Braking - To bring the car to a stop smoothly, regenerative braking now works at a lower speed and deceleration rate. THe Verge says: " On Tuesday, the EPA told CNBC that it approved the new range estimate after receiving data from Tesla gathered during an in-house test. EPA approved the new label value based on a review of the testing protocols and data submitted by Tesla and found it was complete and accurate. The improvements result in “a nearly 20% increase in range when compared to a 2019 Model S 100D with the same battery pack design,” Tesla says." https://www.theverge.com/2020/6/16/21292629/tesla-model-3-long-range-plus-epa-rating-aerodynamic-wheels-mass-reduction-efficiency TESLA AND PANASONIC AGREE ON THREE-YEAR BATTERY DEAL "Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) has entered a three-year deal with Panasonic Corp. (OTC: PCRFY) under which the Japanese battery maker will manufacture and supply lithium-ion battery cells at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Nevada." reports Yahoo Finance: "The deal is effective from April 1, 2020, until March 31, 2023, and covers the terms of production capacity commitments by Panasonic and purchase volume commitments by Tesla over the first two years of the agreement. Last month Panasonic’s CFO, Hirokazu Umeda, said they were seeing “strong demand” for Tesla’s battery cells. Umeda signaled interest in expanding the Nevada factory. Panasonic and Tesla’s relationship has been worsening over the past years and the automaker is moving towards making its own batteries." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesla-panasonic-agree-three-battery-051442193.html Teslarati notes: "Ultimately, the company’s goal is to end a shortage of batteries and begin a massive production phase of lithium-ion cells that will keep up with the increasing demand for Tesla’s electric cars. After Elon Musk announced last week that it would bring its highly-anticipated Semi to “volume production,” it is evident that Tesla’s cell shortage is coming to a close, and the company is on the brink of price parity with gas cars." RIMAC C_TWO PROTOTYPE PRODUCTION SPEEDS UP WITH SECOND ASSEMBLY LINE "Rimac’s recently opened factory in Croatia will be a bit busier going forward. Today, the bespoke electric hypercar maker announced that adding a second production line is “the next stage in the development of the C_Two.” The new line will help the company accelerate C_Two prototype production, cutting the build time in half to around five weeks. This will eventually let the company build four production vehicles a month when operating at full capacity." according to MOtor1: "The automaker promised a stunning all-electric hypercar that’d develop 1,914 horsepower (1,427 kilowatts). Rimac continues to guarantee a top speed of 258 miles per hour (412 kilometers per hour) with a zero to 62-mph (100-kph) time of 1.9 seconds. A sprint to 100 mph (161 kmh) from a standstill will happen in 4.3 seconds." https://www.motor1.com/news/429090/rimac-c-two-second-production-line/ SPAIN'S $4.2 BILLION AID PLAN TO SUPPORT THE AUTO INDUSTRY "Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced a 3.7 billion euro ($4.2 billion) aid package for the hard-hit auto industry to promote the production and sale of cleaner cars." reports NY Times: "he Spanish government will spend 250 million euros on cash-for-clunker schemes to encourage drivers to buy new low-emission and electric cars in 2020. Drivers will get up to 4,500 euros to buy a new, cleaner car when they scrap a 20-year-old car. Dealerships will give up to 1,000 euros in additional discounts. Spain will spend another 100 million euros upgrading official vehicles and will let regional authorities spend 100 million euros of their budget surpluses to upgrade their own fleets." https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2020/06/15/world/europe/15reuters-health-coronavirus-spain-autos-factbox.html TESLA MODEL Y SPOTTED IN HOLLAND Hans: Who said that Model Y wouldn't be seen in Europe before 2021? GM'S MARY BARRA OPTIMISTIC ON U.S. DEMAND, CHINA, EV PROFITABILITY " General Motors Co's top executive struck an optimistic note on Monday about U.S. demand for new vehicles despite the coronavirus pandemic, and the ability to sell electric vehicles at a profit, especially in China." according to Autoblog: "Consultancy AlixPartners has predicted that major automakers face a "profit desert" as they invest heavily in developing electric vehicles despite consumers' ongoing preference for gas-guzzling cars, especially in the U.S. market. When asked about that prediction, Barra said, "We are very excited with the portfolio of EVs we have coming. We are going to continue on that path. We have a strong future ahead, and I don't see that desert." https://www.autoblog.com/2020/06/15/gm-ceo-mary-barra-new-vehicle-demand-electric-cars-china/ BMW I8 HYBRID SPORTSCAR PRODUCTION ENDS AFTER SIX YEARS "Nearly six years after its introduction in the international markets, BMW has decided to pull the plug on the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. The line’s termination was originally slated to be in April, which was delayed due to the shutdown of the plants due to the COVID-19 pandemic." says MSN Autos: The car’s final example rolled out of the factory, finished in a unique Portimao Blue, a one-off shade to commemorate its purpose. The car laid the foundation to our imagination of an ideal futuristic car that came with a radical design. It was powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that worked in tandem with an electric motor to churn out a combined power of 374hp." https://www.msn.com/en-in/autos/news/bmw-i8-hybrid-sportscar-production-ends-after-six-years-final-unit-rolled-out-wearing-blue-paint/ar-BB15yHfh ELECTRIC CARS TO GET GREEN NUMBER PLATES "Owners of electric cars across the UK will be able to fit their vehicles with green number plates from this autumn, a move that is set to both further raise the profile of battery-powered cars, and pave the way for future incentive schemes that will encourage the take-up of electric vehicles." reports Hugo at Auto Express: "Rather than being a fully green plate, EVs will have conventional white and yellow plates on their front and rear, but the plates will feature a green vertical flash on their left-hand side. The plates will, according to the DfT, allow local authorities to “design and put in place new policies to incentivise people to own and drive” electric cars. While details are thin on the ground, the Government suggests reduced parking rates or exemption from emission-zone charges are two incentives councils might consider." https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/104561/electric-cars-get-green-number-plates QUESTION OF THE WEEK Tell me about a conversation you had with someone where you introduced them to EVs I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 231 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. Show #781 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 17th May 2020. DYSON FINALLY UNVEILS ITS CANCELED ELECTRIC CAR "Having famously killed off its electric car project back in October, Dyson’s automobile remained a mystery to most, with insiders telling Engadget that only a handful of engineers had seen a working prototype somewhere in Wiltshire. But yesterday, the company chose to finally show off its scrapped electric car for an interview about Sir James Dyson — now worth £16.2 billion — topping the Sunday Times Rich List for the first time." writes Engadget.com: "According to The Times, Dyson revealed that his electric vehicle, codenamed “N526,” would have been a seven-seater with a whopping 600-mile range per charge. This was largely thanks to the company’s proprietary solid-state batteries, which could apparently sustain such performance. Despite its 2.6-ton weight, Dyson’s aluminum car could go from zero to 62MPH in 4.8 seconds (about half a second more than the long-range Model X), with its top speed apparently reaching 125MPH (30MPH shy of the Model X’s). This is all coming from the twin 200kW electric motors rated with 536BHP. As the owner of the company, Dyson told The Times that this project ended up costing £500 million of his own money before he put a stop to it. " https://www.engadget.com/dysons-electric-car-n526-085341772.html KOENIGSEGG REGERA’S BATTERY COSTS 100 TIMES MORE THAN A REGULAR EV BATTERY "The Koenigsegg Regera’s batteries are designed to deliver uncompromising performance. It doesn’t come cheap. In fact, according to Jonas Voss, Director, EV Propulsion Systems, the Regera’s battery costs 100 times more than a regular battery pack you would find in an EV. Similar cells are used in modern Formula 1 cars." says TheSupercarBlog.com: "Koenigsegg sources the special batteries from Rimac. Apparently, these are cells are so specialized that even Rimac doesn’t use it the C_Two electric hypercar. There are 6 modules of 64 cells inside the carbon fibre housing. It is mounted in the centre of the car in order to keep the centre of gravity low. The batteries alone generate around 700 hp.The Regera also uses a twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. The combined output of the hybrid system is 1500 hp and 1500 lb-ft of torque, which enables the car to hit 0-400 km/h in less than 20 seconds." https://www.thesupercarblog.com/koenigsegg-regeras-battery-costs-100-times-more-than-a-regular-ev-battery/ TESLA UPDATES MODEL Y AND MODEL 3 DELIVERY TIMELINE "Tesla has updated Model Y and Model 3 delivery timelines after restarting production at Fremont factory. The automaker is now listing 5 to 7 weeks delivery time for new Model 3 orders in the US:" reckons electrek: "Prior to the factory shutdown, Tesla was listing 4 to 8 weeks for new Model 3 deliveries in the US. As for the Model Y, new buyers of the electric SUV are going to have to wait a little longer before getting the vehicle. Tesla updated the Model Y delivery timeline with a new 8 to 12 weeks lead time." https://electrek.co/2020/05/16/tesla-updates-model-y-3-delivery-timeline/ HOW TESLA MADE ITS BATTERY BREAKTHROUGHS IN A TINY CANADIAN LAB "After conducting battery research for 3M and Medtronic, Dahn signed a research partnership with Tesla in 2015 that runs through mid-2021. Tesla hired Dahn’s students and graduates and built connections to a small battery testing facility in Halifax in 2015, that was spun out of Dahn’s lab at Dalhousie." says iphoneincanada: "Tesla also set up its own battery research lab in Halifax that same year. A former PhD student of Dahn’s, Chris Burns, helped Tesla build its Halifax facility. Tesla’s funding of Dahn’s work is public, and Dahn has talked about some of his group’s accomplishments at public and private forums, including a presentation in February at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Videos of that presentation and at least two others where Dahn discussed his work were posted on YouTube, but since have been removed. Dahn’s team is now playing a key role in Tesla’s plans to introduce a new low-cost, long-life ‘million mile’ battery in its Model 3 sedan in China, which will bring the cost of electric vehicles in line with gasoline models." https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/tesla/tesla-battery-development-in-canadian-lab/ NEW FORD EXPLORER PLUG-IN HYBRID NOW BEING DELIVERED TO EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS THE ALL-NEW FORD Explorer Plug-In Hybrid – featuring electric driving, first-class comfort and true tough terrain capability – is now being delivered to customers across Europe, following the seven-seater SUV going on sale late last year. The Explorer Plug-In Hybrid combines Ford’s powerful 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine with an electric motor, generator and 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. Equipped with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and Terrain Management System with seven Drive Modes, the advanced powertrain delivers the ability to carry seven passengers in refined comfort, tow up to 2,500 kg, and enables 48 km NEDC (42 km WLTP) electric driving rang. The Explorer Plug-In Hybrid is one of 18 new electrified vehicles Ford is introducing for customers in Europe before the end of 2021. OCTOPUS ENERGY CREATES ROAMING CHARGING SERVICE IN UK AND EUROPE "Octopus Energy Group has launched a new roaming charging service, enabling electric car drivers to access multiple charging networks with a single account. The Electric Juice Network scheme can be used by any electric car driver – including non-Octopus Energy’ customers – and initially provides access to urban charging points through the Char.gy network, but with other partners to follow. This includes expansion into Europe." says FleetWorld: "Charging costs for all users are invoiced through a single bill – providing a solution to the long-standing issue of a lack of standardised payment measures. The launch of the new roaming service follows Octopus Energy’s work last year to deliver time-of-use tariffs and smart analytics to charging companies across the UK and will soon be supported by the Electric Juice app, which will also enable drivers across Europe to take advantage of the same service." https://fleetworld.co.uk/octopus-energy-creates-roaming-charging-service-in-uk-and-europe/ NISSAN LAUNCHES ALL-NEW KICKS E-POWER IN THAILAND "The Nissan Kicks e-POWER, an all-new compact SUV that gives drivers the power and performance of an electric car, debuted today in Thailand. This is a Nissan regional launch event, and the world-debut of the new Nissan model: Nissan Kicks e-POWER." reports Automotiveworld: "Equipped with e-POWER, the revolutionary electrified powertrain first introduced by Nissan in Japan, the new Nissan Kicks is built in Thailand and perfectly tailored for the lifestyles of urban customers. Nissan’s award-winning e-POWER technology brings a fully electric motor drive, meaning that the wheels are completely driven by the electric motor. The power from a high-output battery is delivered to the e-POWER compact powertrain comprising a gasoline engine, power generator, inverter and a motor." The all-new Nissan Kicks e-POWER technology features an EM57 electric motor, generator and inverter that generates electricity from its 1.2 liters DOHC 12-valve three-cylinder engine. The e-POWER system offers a maximum power of 95 kilowatts (kW) (129 PS), a maximum flat-torque of 260 Nm, and a lithium-ion battery—all delivering a driving experience similar to an EV. The 1.57 kWh lithium-ion battery in the all-new Nissan Kicks e-POWER has four modules that provide smooth acceleration, quiet rides, and increased fuel efficiency." QUESTION OF THE WEEK ANSWERS RAJEEV NARAYAN Here in Texas, I have used Plug-share, which seems to have a reasonable coverage map and can give you turn by turn directions and a trip planner which seems to work. It can also filter by type of charger. The problem for me is that in my area at least, there is no real guarantee the charger you pull up to will work. DOUG VOWLES I exclusively use A Better Route Planner. It allows you to enter the specific model of EV you’re driving, and then you can tailor trip parameters to include outside temperature, wind, road conditions etc. The program also knows road elevations. We made several trips beyond the range of level 2 and 3 chargers in the dead of winter, and ABRP let us anticipate the need for and use overnight 110 volt charging to make it back to “civilization.” Highly recommended. JEFFREY MURRAY My wife and I have a 2019 Chevy Bolt that we bought new in October and we already have over 20k miles on it, including multiple long distance road trips in the middle of winter (we bought it going into the worst case scenario for an EV, so now summer should be a pleasant surprise). My prefered route planner overall has been Plugshare, as it seems to have the most complete database of chargers here in the Indiana, USA area. I also use abetterrouteplanner.com since it has a lot of customizations to the car, how much weight, weather, etc. I will often take the charge stops that it finds and put them into plugshare since I find it easier to follow in the car. QUESTION OF THE WEEK Should Dyson have continued to make a £150,000 EV, or should we only make EVs realistic? What’s wrong with making cars at a high price point? TESLA UPDATE LETS DRIVERS STREAM SPOTIFY, NETFLIX, AND YOUTUBE "On Thursday, the latest over-the-air software update, known as Version 10, started rolling out to Tesla owners. The update packs in a lot of fun features, mostly for when the car is parked or charging." reports the tech site Mashable: "Games like Cuphead are coming to the Tesla Arcade and a new "Tesla Theater" application houses all the streaming video options. Caraoke is like it sounds: a karaoke interface with lyrics on the screen so you can belt out your favorite tunes. A Summon update will let you "summon" your car from a parking spot if it's in your line of sight. This is only available for drivers who have the Full Self-Driving version or Enhanced Autopilot package. Other updates will streamline Sentry mode, and the new mysteriously named "Joe mode" lets you lower the volume for parking chimes and other alerts if you have a sleeping baby in the car. The mobile Tesla app that lets you control the climate, unlock the car, and other options was also updated and now you'll be able to remote-control windows on the Model 3 and Model X from the app. " ZDNet reports: "Along with Netflix, Tesla drivers will be able to view content from YouTube, and Hulu or Hulu + Live TV from the dash console. Tesla's self-driving capabilities aren't yet advanced enough for drivers to switch off and watch movies, and thankfully the company notes that you can "watch your favorite shows, movies and content right from your car while parked". The company says customers have praised summon it for its convenience after shopping, but notes that "those using Smart Summon must remain responsible for the car and monitor it and its surroundings at all times". The feature is available to drivers when the car is within their line of sight. Owners of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus and Standard Range vehicles will now able to stream Spotify, TuneIn, and Slacker when connected to Wi-Fi." And The Verge reports: "video recordings captured when Teslas are in their self-protect Sentry Mode are now stored in a separate folder from other camera content. A new “Joe Mode” is meant to avoid waking up sleeping passengers by reducing the volume of certain car chimes and alerts. And the Tesla mobile app can do a few more things and control even more aspects of the car remotely (like the windows)." SlashGear on China: "Tesla customers in China will soon get iQiyi and Tencent Video access in the car with more services promised in the future." Tesla says: "“We’re expanding our music and audio platform to enable Spotify Premium account access in all supported markets – one of the most requested features from Tesla owners. This will be in addition to Slacker Radio and TuneIn, which are also available in Tesla vehicles.”" If you pause the video which Tesla put online today, there's Car Wash Mode. But what is that? And on turorials: "Additionally, all customers will have access to Tesla tutorial videos to learn more about their vehicle." In fact if you play that YouTube video frame by frame it says this: Voice Commands Driving Visualization Maps Improvements Sentry Mode Improvements Software Update Improvements Application Launcher Updates YouTube Car Wash Mode Caraoke Spotify Cuphead Feeling Lucky Tesla Theater TESLA JUMPS ON REPORT MUSK AIMS TO DELIVER RECORD 100,000 CARS THIS QUARTER "Shares of Tesla jumped more than 5% after Electrek, an electric vehicle news website, reported that CEO Elon Musk said the company “has a shot” at delivering 100,000 cars this quarter, which would be a new record." says CNBC.com: "Musk wrote in the email: “We have a shot at achieving our first 100,000 vehicle delivery quarter, which is an incredibly exciting milestone for our company!” The CEO also reportedly added, “The challenge is making sure that we have the right car variants in the right locations and rallying as much as our company resources as possible to help with the end of the quarter deliveries.” The automaker is expected to report its quarterly vehicle deliveries in the next few days." https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/26/tesla-jumps-on-report-musk-aims-to-deliver-100000-cars-this-quarter.html NORWEGIAN GAS STATION BECOMES FIRST IN WORLD TO REPLACE ALL PUMPS WITH ELECTRIC CHARGERS "Gas station" may no longer be an accurate description for a Circle K refueling outlet in Oslo, Norway, after it became the first in the world to replace all gas pumps with electric car chargers earlier this week." writes Newsweek: "The Oslo Circle K is one of the company's 16,000 gas stations around the world, but this location is the only one from any company to completely convert to electric fueling. The conversion to electric fuel "fast chargers" came at the same time as the United Nations Climate Action Summit was taking place this week in New York. Christina Bu, secretary general of the Norwegian Electric Car Association, said in a press release that it "was extra fun to highlight this" at the same time world leaders were discussing climate change." https://www.newsweek.com/norwegian-gas-station-becomes-first-world-replace-all-pumps-electric-chargers-1461714 FIRST GAS STATION IN AMERICA TO DITCH OIL FOR 100% ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING "The first gas station in the U.S. that has been completely transitioned from a petroleum station to exclusively charging EVs opened Thursday in Takoma Park, Maryland." says CNBC.com: "RS Automotives, the local gas station, has been around since 1958. Depeswar Doley, owner of the station since 1997, said he was already unhappy with the way oil and gasoline companies structure contracts — such as limiting the use of multiple suppliers, including clauses that extend contracts when a certain volume of sales is not met and limiting maintenance support. These business factors already were pushing him to consider other options. A nudge from his daughter was the final step in convincing Doley to make the switch to EV charging. There are more than 20,700 registered EVs in Maryland, and the area also has an electric taxi service in need of more chargers for their business. The gas station conversion was jointly funded by the Electric Vehicle Institute and the Maryland Energy Administration, which provided a grant of $786,000." https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/26/first-gas-station-to-ditch-oil-for-electric-vehicle-charging-now-open.html THE HYUNDAI VELOSTER N ETCR HAS HIT THE TRACK AND IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE A STAR WARS SHIP "Hyundai Motorsport hit the Hungaroring with its all-electric Veloster N to get the machine primed and ready for next year’s ETCR racing series. And man does it sound freakin’ cool." says Jalopnik: The Veloster N has a much higher pitch to its powertrain than fellow EV series Formula E. The company is turning its Italian HQ into an electric car centre of excellence, it says, confirming that all future Masers will be made in Italy." writes Tim Pollard for Car Magazine: "Maserati revealed that every new model in the pipeline will be either hybrid or full battery electric, and vowed that the switch from oil to volts wouldn't dent its commitment to 'innovation and the high performance embedded in the brand’s DNA.' It also committed to 'extended range and ultra-fast charging capabilities,' perhaps made easier by the brand's relatively late arrival into the electric car space." Follow Tim at @TimPollardCars https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/electric/maserati/ YOU CAN NOW BUY A PLUG-IN HYBRID BENTLEY BENTAYGA "Bentley's new Bentayga plug-in hybrid is now on sale in the UK with prices starting from a little over £133,000." reports Motor1.com: "The luxury 4x4 is described by its manufacturer as “the world’s first true electrified luxury car”, and offers an all-electric range of around 24 miles on the new and more stringent WLTP efficiency test. That’s provided by a 126 bhp electric motor, which is also used to eliminate turbo lag, while the power comes from a high-voltage battery that can be recharged in two-and-a-half hours." https://uk.motor1.com/news/373273/bentley-bentayga-phev-pricing-uk/ AUSTRALIA IS GETTING MORE ULTRA-RAPID CHARGING "Chargefox, which claims to be Australia’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, is increasing the number of ultra-rapid EV chargers it has in the country." as per Business insider Autralia: "The company revealed the target locations for all 22 sites in the first phase of its ultra-rapid EV charging network. It is part of Chargefox’s broader goal to have more than 100 ultra-rapid charging sites in the country. Chargefox already has 5 ultra-rapid stations open in, with 17 more in the works. All 22 will connect Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, with additional sites in Western Australia and Tasmania." That’s because this video contains footage of the £1.5m+ Rimac C_Two hypercar crashing. A lot. Five times, in fact. It’s all a part of the C_Two’s homologation process to ensure it’ll be safe and road-legal across the globe. Still, five times." says Top Gear: "No lie, it’s never easy watching a super-rare, very desirable 1,887bhp self-driving electric hypercar being squished against some very solid things. Rimac reckons on 0-62mph in a frankly terrifying 1.97s, 0-100mph in 4.3s, a quarter mile time of 9.1s and 0-186mph in 11.8s." https://www.topgear.com/car-news/crash/watch-258mph-rimac-ctwo-crash-five-times QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… What do you want to hear on this podcast? It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today, and picked out the best ones to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. TESLA MODEL Y UNVEILING MARCH 14 "Tesla has confirmed that it will unveil the Model Y electric crossover on March 14. This highly anticipated electric car is expected to outsell the Tesla Model 3. The unveiling will take place at Tesla’s LA Design Studio." says Eric Loveday for InsideEVs.com: "According to Tesla, the Model Y will be largely based upon the Model 3. This means its cost to develop should be on the lower side, though that doesn’t imply a low price tag necessarily. The newest rumors, combined with info from Musk, indicate a base price $40,000, provided it’s offered with the smallest Model 3 battery pack. However, we don’t think that will be available on the Y and for certain, not anytime soon. Previous rumors indicated Model Y would be a 3-row crossover, though that seems a bit questionable too." https://insideevs.com/tesla-model-y-unveiling-set-for-march-14/ FIRST TESLA SUPERCHARGER VERSION 3.0 TO GO LIVE ON WEDNESDAY Staying with InsideEVs: "We’re now just a few days away from the opening of the very first Tesla Supercharger Version 3.0. Tesla CEO Elon Musk says it opens up this Wednesday. This new, higher-powered Supercharger will enhance the long-distance travel capabilities of Tesla vehicles." "We presume that all newer Tesla vehicles will be able to suck down a whole lot more juice at the new Supercharger 3.0. However, the actual outputs of these units is not yet known. Nor do we know which particular Teslas will be able to charge at the highest rates. We do suspect that the Tesla Model 3 will benefit the most from these new Superchargers though." https://insideevs.com/first-tesla-supercharger-version-3-live-wednesday/ VW ELECTRIC BEACH BUGGY FOR GENEVA Volkswagen presents the ID. BUGGY at the Geneva International Motor Show. On the evening prior to the first press day, the concept car will celebrate its world premiere at the Volkswagen Group Night. The ID. BUGGY is a zero-emissions high-tech vehicle for summer, on the beach or in the city, based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). following on from the ID. (compact class), ID. BUZZ (van), ID. CROZZ (SUV) and ID. VIZZION (saloon), the new ID. BUGGY is the fifth concept car based on the MEB, with which Volkswagen has used to confirm the multifaceted nature of the ID. Family. ABB FIA FORMULA E CONCEPT LIVERY "Mercedes has unveiled an ABB FIA Formula E concept livery ahead of its entry into the electric championship in 2019/20. In a video released on Twitter, Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff hailed the manufacturer’s achievements in the DTM, which it left at the end of last season ahead of joining the season six FE grid alongside fellow newcomer Porsche." reports Motorsport.com: "Mercedes is understood to have received its test car from FE supplier Spark to allow it to progress with its 15-day manufacturer testing programme for the 2018/19 season." Wolff said: "“The potential of Formula E is enormous. With each day of progress in our preparations for the first race at the end of this year, our anticipation for the new challenge grows. The competition with Porsche, Audi and BMW, and all the other great manufacturers, will be a very special one – and I’m looking forward to it. We look at this new chapter with excitement and we would be happy if everyone one of your supports us on this thrilling journey.”" https://insideevs.com/mercedes-reveals-formula-e-concept-livery/ PIËCH MARK ZERO CLAIMS 5-MINUTE RECHARGE FOR 300-MILE RANGE "The new brand Piëch Automotive presents a concept of its new electric sports car, dubbed the Mark Zero, at the Geneva Motor Show. It is the first in a line of products that Piëch Automotive plans to launch in the next three years." according to Motor1.com: "The Piëch Mark Zero is an electric gran tourer that measures in at 14.2 feet (4.32 meters) long, with a wheelbase of 8.6 feet (2.62 meters), and a height of 4.1 feet (1.25 meters). The concept is powered by three electric motors: an electric motor on the front axle produces 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts), and two synchronous motors on the rear produce 201 hp (150 kW). Acceleration to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) takes 3.2 seconds, and top speed is listed at 155 mph (250 kmh)." https://www.motor1.com/news/307923/piech-mark-zero-electric-coupe/ RIMAC C_TWO MIGHT IMPRESS EVEN MORE IN PRODUCTION FORM "Supercar enthusiasts have a lot of reasons to get excited about automakers embracing electrification as plenty of zero-emissions machines have been announced with staggering technical specifications. Case in point, Rimac unveiled the C_Two nearly a year ago in Geneva and now they’re about to show the bonkers electric hypercar with a fresh new coat of paint." reports Adrian Padeneau for InsideEVs: "Rimac isn’t willing to go into any details for the time being regarding the upgrades they’re planning for the powertrain, but they do say these will be possible thanks to “new development efforts.” For the time being, we know the C_Two has four electric motors with a combined output of 1,914 horsepower and an instant torque of 2,300 Newton-meters (1,696 pound-feet). It’s enough electric punch for a sprint to 60 mph (96 kph) in precisely 1.85 seconds, with the 0-186 mph (0-300 kph) taking just 11.8 seconds." https://insideevs.com/rimac-c_two-might-specs-production-form/ PININFARINA'S 1900 HORSEPOWER BATTISTA WILL GO OVER 217 MPH "As it promised last year, Pininfarina is taking on Rimac with the Battista, a 1900 horsepower/2,300 nm (1,700 ft-pound) hypercar EV that the company calls "the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and built in Italy." according to Engadget: "Suffice to say, this car will be quick, with a top speed of "over 350 km/h" (217 MPH) and a zero to 62 mph time of "under 2 seconds." Though the target market might not care much, it will have a 120 kWh battery that'll give it about 450 km (279 miles) of range." https://www.engadget.com/2019/03/04/pininfarinas-1900-horsepower-battista-will-go-over-217-mph/ COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. Friday 4th May 2018. VW BATTERY ANNOUNCEMENT GOES UNDER THE RADAR There was another big auto event and it wasn’t Tesla’s Q1 results. It was VW’s AGM. Tesla has a market capitalisation of $48.2bn. Shortly after the Q1 results and a strange earning call you and I will get onto later, VW signed battery contracts. And let me put this out there. Every single article I read today talked about Tesla losing value due to Elon Musk’s attitude on the investor call. Let me throw something your way, which might not be the whole reason, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere. Just after the Tesla announcement, VW Group said they have contracts on their battery supply and associated technology worth way more than previously announced. Worth DOUBLE previously announced. VW Group said they have contracts worth 40bn Euros, that’s $48bn. What did I just say Tesla was worth? That’s right, VW signed purchase contracts for just one part of their electric cars worth the whole of Tesla – autos and energy combined. My mind is a little blown. By 2025 VW will sell 3 million pure electric cars every single year, Chief Executive Officer Herbert Diess told investors Thursday at the annual shareholder meeting in Berlin. VW currently makes more cars in four days than Tesla does in a year and has enormous firepower. “By 2020 we will offer our customers more than 25 new electric models and more than 20 plug-in hybrids,” Diess said. “In just a few years’ time, then, across all brands and regions, we aim to put the world’s largest fleet of electric vehicles on the road.” KIA UNVEILS NIRO EV IN JEJU Kia Motors took us by surprise yesterday by unveiling the pure BEV version of its Niro crossover, at the fifth "Electric Vehicle Expo" on the resort island of Jeju. Korea’s second largest carmaker showed off its Niro alongside the Niro PHEV and the Soul EV. The Niro is interesting because many people went gaga for the Hyundai Kona earlier this year, particularly the long range version with a 64kWh LGChem pack, with thermal management, and although the price isn’t known it won’t be Tesla prices. And now it's sister company Kia to take the spotlight. The Niro has the same parts, so can do 380 kilometres on a single charge of the 64kWh pack or 240 km on the smaller 39.2 kWh battery. Also, for Kia prices you get front collision avoidance, lane keeping assist and highway driving assist systems. Last year Kia sold 23,647 Niro hybrids and plug-in hybrid models. Kia plans to begin selling the Niro EV in the domestic market sometime soon after July, having received more than 5,000 pre-orders for the Niro EVs in February. Both Hyundai and Kia models will be supply restricted for a long time. GO INSIDE THE RIMAC FACTORY FOR A CLOSER LOOK CNET has posted a video of the Rimac factory. They say: "The Rimac C Two promises to make 1,914 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque, which should propel the car to 60 miles per hour in 1.85 seconds. Rimac estimates that the C Two's top speed will be around 258 miles per hour. While the preproduction car debuted at Geneva this year, Rimac estimates that it will be over a year before they start getting delivered to customers." I'll post a link to CNET in the show notes. they say the video offers a look into the Rimac factory and "explains how a Croatian electric hypercar startup came to source the wheels for its 2,000 hp car from a relatively small bespoke wheel company in sunny Vista, California." The video is 6mins long and if you like close up super slo-motions, you’re in for a treat. FAREWELL FLUFFERBOT & EARNINGS CALL REACTION The Tesla earnings call was very entertaining for someone not invested in the company. Elon was tolerant at best of some of the questions, especially things he thought were dumb to ask. Some highlights… Supercharger V3 network - something along the lines of 200-250kW is ultimate for pack size and C rating. Elon is open to other car makers using the network, for a fee. Share Price - The company’s share price dropped 5% on Wednesday and slid further on Thursday, wiping more than $3.4bn off the value of the company Model Y production - set to start within 24 months, 2020 being later than a Reuters report suggested, and it won't be at Fremont. That new facility’s location hasn’t been decided yet. Semi - 2,000 reserved. They're not actively selling. Musk said they could build a 500mile truck today, and by the time it launches, they'll have 600miles cracked. Is that because all these road tests are showing the letting regen do it's work on a heavy truck is giving them more range? Or platooning? Or better battery tech we don't know about? One thing JB Straubel said, when it was pointed out Daimler said the Semi was against the laws of physics, he didn't feel Daimler understood exactly what Tesla could do with batteries. China - He also mentioned that a Gigafactory for China would also be announced soon. And every future Giga factory would have car production and battery production under one roof. Cells - Cells used in Model 3 are the highest energy density cells used in any electric vehicle. “We have achieved this by significantly reducing cobalt content per battery pack while increasing nickel content and still maintaining superior thermal stability.” He gave us an insight into why the robots had held up production of the Model 3, including a machine which was trying to automate the process of bonding some fluff on top of the battery pack to deaden the sound, which is turns out wasn’t needed anyway. And the machine couldn’t match it up in the right place, a machine Elon dubbed Flufferbot. Sadly, it had to go. In a moment of pure internet, a Flufferbot now has it’s own twitter account. And in a moment which reminded me of pure Steve Jobs, when he wanted Apple to be a private company which didn't answer to bozo analysts (although I think analysts are a fine bunch of folk) Elon let rip. He cut off one question and then, after another, took a 14 second pause and went to a young YouTuber who seems to have found his way onto the call by way of a campaign to ask one question for retail investors. Elon kept him on for TWELVE questions. So established media and analysts got upset because their exclusive club had been gate-crashed and they had a good moan online today. Bernstein: "Beneath the bizarre theatrics, however, we see Tesla's Q1 as in-line with expectations on most metrics, including revenues, gross margins, and free cash flow." Morgan Stanley: "Irrespective of the Tesla CEO's annoyance with the genre of questions he was receiving from the analyst community, we note that an important part of Tesla's success has been its relationship with the capital markets in funding its ambitious plans." JP Morgan: "We expect TSLA to fall today after CEO Elon Musk dismissed multiple analyst questions as 'dry' and 'boring' (including questions probing what we feel are key topics, such as profitability of the Model 3 and the company's capital requirements)." Piper Jaffray: " The unorthodox behaviour sparked an after-hours sell-off. We still recommend TSLA, but in the next few months especially, we would expect significant volatility." Baird: "Ignore the noise and focus on metrics. TSLA reported solid results and is successfully ramping Model 3 vehicle and battery production" Nomura: "No shareholder wants to see a CEO lose his patience over important, albeit mundane questions" Evercore ISI: ""'Wow' is the only way to describe the Tesla Q1 call which was unlike anything we have heard before." NEW SWEDISH CAR POLICIES EXPECTED TO BOOST ELECTRIC CAR MARKET SHARE IN SWEDEN Zachary at Clean Technica has picked up on a story about new tax in Sweden from July which will penalise gas and diesel, whilst plug ins get a boost. In the first three years of owning an ICE car based on CO2 emissions. Sweden has 6.1% of new vehicle registrations being plug ins, and previous 5 year exemption to vehicle tax is now completely removed and zero emission vehicles get a bonus up to 25% of the list price, which is up to $6,700, for something like a Nissan LEAF. Whereas buying a BMW i3 REX gets you $5,600 bonus. ENPHASE REPORTS ‘DECENT’ Q1 2018 EARNINGS AS CFO RESIGNS And the last story today, a bit of solar. First up Enphase, makers of micro-inverters. Which particularly interest me, I don't have solar at the moment and really want to start adding some. However I also want to cashflow it, and also want to build up with some on the garage roof before any on the house. So micro-inverters would be an interesting way to scale up if i get some solar this year. I like that each panel can generate grid-ready AC power. Their latest results were $70m of revenue in Q1 18 and their cash balance was almost double, largely due to private equity investment in the quarter. They shipped 611,000 micro inverters last year. The IQ7, their latest model now available in the US and UK, soon Germany and Austria. "Unlike the rest of its inverters, the IQ 8 platform is designed to support both grid-tied and off-grid applications, supported by the company’s Ensemble software" say GreenTechMedia. I’d love to spread the word about electric cars so, if you can, share this somebody who might be interested.
