What sprouted as a possible fashion editorial, ended up being one of the most original and thought provoking films I've seen in quite a while. Daisies from 1966 is a wild ride of surrealism, freedom, and feminism by Vera Chytilová. I can see how so many film makers are inspired by this experimental take on philosophy and existence through pleasure and all encompassing rebellion. I talk about why I have so many words but not enough about how brilliant this all was, the incredible fashion and color theory, and film techniques I was drooling over. --- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon!  Host: Lauren @lauren_melanie Find more Fashion Grunge onLinktree Join me on Substack:  The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletter ☕️ Support Fashion Grunge on Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/fashiongrunge

In this episode of Purple Political Breakdown, we dive into the sweeping resurgence of Trump-era politics and policies as Donald Trumps administration reasserts its influence across finance, government, and global affairs. We unpack how the Trump family is making bold moves in the crypto world, including a $2 billion investment deal facilitated through their digital asset firm and a growing alliance with platforms like Binance and Crypto.com. On the policy front, we examine Trump's 2026 budget proposal slashing domestic programs while ballooning military and border security spendingmoves sparking national protests and bipartisan tension. We also take a hard look at Trumps controversial immigration strategies, including self-deportation incentives via mobile app and secretive international deportation deals with countries like Rwanda and Angola. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court greenlights policies barring transgender troops, and a federal judge shuts down Trumps attempt to use wartime laws to expel Venezuelan migrants. In education, Trump renews his fight against Ivy League institutions, threatens Harvards tax-exempt status, and backs a billion-dollar Texas school voucher bill. Student loan delinquencies are surging post-pause, raising red flags for millions of borrowers. In health, Trumps HHS shifts focus from COVID-19 to universal flu vaccines and psychotherapy-only care for trans youthsparking fierce scientific and political backlash. Plus, we explore Trumps aggressive trade and cultural agenda, from ending Chinese import exemptions to proposing a 100% tariff on foreign films in a bid to save Hollywood. And in a headline-grabbing moment, Trump questions constitutional protections for noncitizens and flirts with talk of a third term.
