In this episode, we sit down with Maria Grachvogel, the celebrated British fashion designer known for her distinctive approach to craft, creativity and conscious luxury. Maria shares her journey building a brand that has always prioritised artistic integrity, timeless design, and thoughtful production over fleeting trends. Spanning her early career, the evolution of her business, and her pioneering circular stock model, Maria offers a candid view on what it means to design sustainably without sacrificing soul. With host Fred Moore, the two explore how technology is reshaping creativity, why true luxury lies beyond price tags, and the challenges of staying timeless in a world addicted to speed.
In this episode, we dive into the fascinating world of superyachts with Anders Kurtén, CEO of Fraser—the world's leading luxury yacht service provider. Anders shares why the core of yacht ownership isn't just about luxury—it's about a human desire for freedom, adventure, and, simply, messing about in boats. Spanning Fraser's evolution—from a post-war brokerage to a full-service powerhouse—to the staggering diversity of yacht owners, crews, and designs, Anders lifts the curtain on a world that's both wildly ambitious and surprisingly grounded. With host Fred Moore, the two also cover how the industry is racing ahead with tech-driven sustainability and how the soul of the experience often comes from the people behind the service. This one is a rare glimpse into an industry balancing heritage, ambition, and a greener future—all wrapped up in a timeless spirit of adventure.

Things Discussed: Vance Bedford (watch his breakdown) is a Michigan guy now. Texas fans haven't been good to him; Sam shares they were asking him why he's doing a Michigan show when we were down there for Houston. Defense: Bringing five shouldn't be your base. We can talk about the zero blitzes—McBurrows needs to drive not back out—but this team allows 2 yards per snap when they rush four and 8 yards per snap when they rush five. That's what they have, and need to play like it. Seth: If you're blitzing Mikey Keene you're just wasting coverage guys. Think it's the difference between Minter (a DBs guy) and Martindale (a DL/LB guy). Sam: They need to deal with RPOs because Texas has a lot of them, and the LBs were dead on play-action. Answer: do what you did last year: Drop linemen so you're impossible to read. D-Tackles? Graham was good, KG had some contain issues. Will Johnson: had to calibrate his pick six but it was coming all game. Did they stay away from Hill? No, Michigan put Johnson to the field because Fresno State throws to the side with easy reads. The bad calls: They were *really touchy about Michigan. The overturned INT when they bought a flop was one of the worst calls of the decade, kind of thing that deserves a reprimand because he made a call he did not see. Seth's answer: Now that the Big Ten has this great replay center, just have a dude with a DVR and a ref on the field with an earbud he can tell "pick that up." Offense: Have to calibrate the fans because it's an all new QB and an all new OL, and JJ McCarthy was one of the best QBs in college football, and it's going to be a big downgrade. Davis Warren: Was better than we realized. Needs help from his receivers; Tyler Morris stopped on the fly that was perfectly thrown. Sees his pre-snap reads but struggled with some post-snap reads. The interception was mostly on him, but Fred Moore needs to break that up at least—there are ways to get the cornerback wrong. Everybody's hearts sank when Orji turfed it, because that recast the battle from fall camp. Giudice: the wedge was a little on him, also Bredeson missing a block, also they can have a check to run Down G.
John has a new video featuring his latest research on Lee Harvey Oswald on Nov. 22/63. New Video - Tampering of Dallas Police transcripts John is always finding information that no one else has found because he reads. Earlene Roberts saw Lee leave the rooming house in a dark brown shirt. zipping up his dark blue jacket. Lee wore a dark blue jacket when he appeared in the morning at Wesley Frazier's house on 11/22/63. Taxi driver William Whaley also described Lee as also wearing a dark blue jacket. Lee left the rooming house at approximately 1:03 PM. The man who shot Tippet at 1:06 PM was wearing a light colored Eisenhower type windbreaker jacket. Please read John's analysis and description of the Tippet murder on his website, HarveyandLee.net Oswald was wearing a long sleeved brown shirt (no blue jacket) at his arrest in the Texas Theatre. John encourages you to READ the Dallas Police Department dictatape transcriptions from 11/22/63. The FBI edited the DPD transcriptions, changing the time stamps around the Tippit murder. Three Ambulances sent to 10th & Patton - Dudley M. Hughes ambulance, Baylor University & the VA. By 1964, Ely was aware of the many Oswald impersonations happening in multiple places. Oswald shows a Texas State Driver's License to Fred Moore at the Jiffy Mart at 10am. How can Oswald be at the Jiffy Mart when he's pushing boxes around at the TSBD? Oswald seen getting on bus in Dealey Plaza while also spotted getting into a Rambler station wagon. John Hart Ely, 26 year old & the youngest member to work on the Warren Commission. Ely's job for the Warren Commission was to research the history of Marguerite & Lee Harvey Oswald. Seeing obvious discrepancies, Ely started to question Oswald's duplicity in his investigation. Ely talked to the men who were stationed with Oswald in Santa Anna & El Toro. Talked to Sgt. Donald Goodwin at El Toro. Friendly with Oswald, going to the movies together. In 1975, Ely wrote a summary of his deep & complex feelings about the Warren Commission. Mr. Ely, in his own words, recognized there was multiple Oswalds. In April '64 Jenner wrote to Rankin about Ely's records, Ely's research was going to have to be edited. John has wondered for 20 years why Capt. Fritz didn't ask Lee any questions about the Tippit murder. A blue jacket was placed on Tippit's body after he was murdered before the ambulance crew arrived. Witness Domingo Benavides tried to contact DPD dispatch but didn't know how to use the police mic. Tippit's body was taken the Methodist Hospital by the Dudley Hughes ambulance by Jasper Clayton Butler. Although Butler was on site by 1:10 PM, Tippit was declared dead until 1:15 PM? How? Capt. Fritz was aware of the 2nd wallet found at the Tippit crime scene, helping in the cover up. On 11/22/63 the Dallas Police Dept. sent the FBI 225 items but returned 455 items on 11/26/63. John spent 2 weeks at the National Archives searching for DP initials on items in Oswald's inventory. The government offices protect each other, enabling them to destroy & hide assassination evidence. What would have happened if the public found out two wallets at the Tippit crime scene in 1963? Why haven't the seasoned researchers questioned the two different jackets & shirts worn by Oswald. What happened to Oswald's blue jacket? It was missing at the time of his arrest. John first started to seriously research the JFK assassination after attending an event in 1991. Madeline Brown's attended the JFK event, bringing her son, who is the spitting image of LBJ. Was LHO in N. Dakota in 1953 but also in New York going to school? It takes years researching & reading to understand the all of the little links that slowly connect.
Fred Moore discusses the mission behind Flags4Vets and how you can help them place flags on the graves of veterans on Veterans Day...
Things Discussed: Seth comes on early to talk about Jim Harbaugh's comments: If NCAA starts revenue-sharing now they'll get a better deal than when they're forced to do it. He's real about it—he knows the guys who played in the NFL before revenue-sharing—he's also political, and also sticking it back to the NCAA, and also manipulating the media away from suspensions. Does he have allies on this? Players, obviously. Coaches will be told to be against it. Resume this w/ Brian & Craig: He's earnest about it. If Northwestern unionized maybe Fitz is still coaching. ECU Preview: Mason Garcia is a tank, came up through the program. Last year was The Year, got portal-picked. Bend-don't-break. Michigan careful with injuries: Think that Cornelius Johnson, Tyler Morris, Rod Moore, Will Johnson, Makari Paige could play but no need to get them hurt. Nobody's got an NHG issue. Seth: You can't tiptoe through a football season. Don't agree with taking it too easy because football will punish you cosmically. Sam: They have 2 more noncons to sleep through. Freshman receivers: Fred Moore ran a slow 40 in the snow and got underrated—gonna start—very good deep threat. Semaj is super fast, reminds Craig of Speedy Eaglet. Karmello is the most college-ready. Michigan needs to play-action more. The stats say JJ was the best play-action QB and Michigan ran it just a few times. Just six PA plays against TCU for 25 yards/per. Deep ball gets better when receivers get an opportunity to build trust. Receivers were used to Cade McNamara? Michigan's going to see zone because who can man up a LB against Loveland/Edwards? What did Weiss do here? He made great tweaks in the running game. Discussion on redzone offense growth over the season from slow-mesh reads to dives to Belly and QB lead power. JJ making more checks, changing routes, getting to sling more. Michigan needed to adjust faster to teams loading up the box. Run JJ! If you're worried about injury, it's less risk to run him six times in the first half than subject him to three hits in the second half. More RPOs? Let's do it!

Sadly this year we also lost ‘living legend of the Illawarra', Fred Moore. This episode we look back on the highs and lows of 2022.

What Jess Walter shows us in his 2020 novel The Cold Millions is that he is a wonderful story-teller, a fine historian, and like one of his characters guilty of “first-degree aggravated empathy.”This lovely historical novel is on one hand simply a story of the love between two brothers, Gig and Rye Dolan who hop freight trains together, traveling from town to town and job to job. They are part of the cold millions, that is, the millions upon millions of workers who struggle day to day simply to live, while a few wealthy owners live lives of almost unfathomable wealth and luxury. While Walter is quick to inform us in his afterward that this is a book of fiction, he also makes it clear that some of his characters are based on real life people, one of whom, is “the great labor organizer, Elizabeth Gurley Flynn”, a key character in the book. Gurley is a mesmerizing and powerful speaker and organizer. Even the skeptics listen when she speaks.Listen brothers and sisters, have we ever seen such trying times? She went through a list of outrages, fifteen-hour workdays and women dying at their sewing machine, men crushed in cave-ins while their families got nothing, copper kings and shipping magnates living like royalty while poor workers couldn't even afford a flop bed, families in tents and hovels, workers given no rights and tossed aside when they were too broken or sick or old to work.Clearly Walter shares the sense of outrage expressed by Flynn. He tells us that his own father was a union man. Gig, the older brother joins the IWW, although he discourages his brother Rye from getting involved. While Walter's sympathies are clearly with the so-called Wobblies, he carries on a kind of debate regarding the efficacy of their non-violent methods. One character, Early Reston, clearly thinks non-violent methods will not work, and that rather than piecemeal reform the whole structure must be blown apart. At times in the book both Gig and Ryan become disenchanted with the methods of the IWW.Rye felt demoralized. It didn't matter what he did, what Gurley did, what Fred Moore did, what any of them did. Somewhere there was a roomful of wealthy old men where everything was decided. Beliefs and convictions, lives and livelihoods, right and wrong—these had no place in that room, the scurrying of ants at the feet of a few rich men.It made me think that Early Reston was right, in his way ... that maybe it was the castle that needed to be blown up...While it is clearly the struggles between owners and labor that is the focus of this novel, the side stories are also fascinating. The story of Ursula the Great, a performer who enters a cage with a full grown cougar, and then strips to near nudity as the crowd looks on partly horrified, partly titillated. There is also a sweet tale of budding love Rye feels for Gurley, although she is married and pregnant, and nothing comes of it.I much appreciated the argument Walter has with himself throughout the book regarding the possibility of real change and the methods that can achieve it. At one point when Rye is called out as one of the Wobblies by a salesman:Rye didn't answer. But at that moment, he felt done with it all—done with the beatings, done with Taft, done with Lem Brand and Ursula, done pretending they could stand on soapboxes and draw justice out of the air. Early was right. Rye didn't believe in anything but a job, a bed, some soup. If you read this novel, be sure to leave some good reading energy for the acknowledgments and the short closing essay by Walter: “The Undercurrents of History”. Walter talks of his own growing up in Spokane, Washington, and of how “The World came to me in books.”With The Cold Millions, I set out to write about the sort of working-class Spokane family in which I had grown up. My dad's father, a rancher named Jess Walter, first arrived in Eastern Washington on a train he'd hopped as a vagrant field-worker; my mother's dad, Ralph, was an itinerant laborer in the 1930s who later died on a construction site when a crane fell on him. My own father, Alfa Bruce Walter, was a lifetime steelworker and union leader who worked almost forty years in an aluminum rolling mill. For those readers who want to go to original historical sources, Walter provides an extensive list of his own sources in addition to his personal experience. For all who have labored, and for all who feel keenly the injustices of the world, this is a must read, and it is also a wonderful story.

Join us as we go back to February 7th, 2002, for an extraordinary evening with Ween at The Conduit in Trenton, New Jersey. This is the kind of show that comes around once only in a great while, and like the moon landing or the Discovery explosion, those who witnessed this night would remember it forever. This was Ween at the height of their powers: Glenn was back from a brief hiatus, and the band was ready to explode with new content from the still far off Quebec album, songs that would once again push boundaries, that would show yet another, perhaps darker, perhaps more mature, side of the band. This was a show of firsts and rare moments. Of exquisite solos and bounteous debuts. Debuts like virtually every major hit from Quebec: “Zoloft,” “Transdermal Celebration,” “If You Could Save Yourself,” to name just a few. And if it wasn't a debut, then it was a rarity: “You Were The Fool'' blew us out of the water, and “Sweet Texas Fire'' was like a raunchy sweet and spicy barbecue on a hot summer day. I would be remiss not to also mention that for the first time ever, Ween played a full acoustic set! "The Wood Set," as Deaner called it, allowed the guitars and keys to really shine, and the listener here is treated to some especially resplendent musicianship. For this show we're pulling out all the stops. We couldn't fit all the brownness into one episode so we made this a two-parter. Fred Moore and Reverend B'ill were there and shared with us a few soundbites of their recollections, and we've also got some fun fan stories of the evening to share. We sprinkled some highlight clips on top, brought into a boil, and then simmered it low. Enjoy!! Do you need a guitar monster? Better break out the Reverend!! Rory and Shane were granted a real treat by spending some time on the phone with the mystical being himself, "B-ILL" Bill Fowler. The shredding lead guitarist for Sound of Urchin has been an infamous musical figure in the New Hope PA music scene since the early 90's, and has the stories to prove it! In this call the Rev schools Shane and Rory on the early days of living in the infamous Brookridge Farm, being able to lay down guitar on Ween tunes like "Skycruiser", the John and Peters weekly "Invitational" jam, Bill and Fred's Excellent Adventure with Fred Moore, and of course, guitars!!! Order both of the new re-releases of The Sound of Urchin "Rejoice" and "Black Castle" now at The Urchindise Store Enjoy!!! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/weencastpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/weencastpodcast/support
To some Ween fans, Fred Moore, aka August Forming, needs no introduction. But for those not in the know, let me tell you how it is. Fred's been taping Ween shows for more than twenty years, with his taping work reaching legendary status. Not to mention, he's been to 194 Grateful Dead shows (but who's counting?) among tons of other rock shows. This guy's been there, done that, and's got the stories to prove it! Shane and I are tickled brown to have gotten the chance to chat it up with Fred, it was a blast. We discussed taping in detail: how he got started, equipment, the scene at John and Peter's, as well as other tales. We also talked about Fred's own music, especially Bill and Fred's Excellent Adventure, a collaborative effort with the Reverend B'ill. And we talked about WEEN: how he came to love Ween, taping for them over the years, his experiences at their shows, especially rarities like the Concert for Claude. And did I tell you this guy's jammed with Deaner? Did I tell you we have the audio to prove it? This is part 2. If you haven't listened to part 1, I suggest you do so before you listen to this one. To some Ween fans, Fred Moore, aka August Forming, needs no introduction. But for those not in the know, let me tell you how it is. Fred's been taping Ween shows for more than twenty years, with his taping work reaching legendary status. This guy's been there, done that, and's got the stories to prove it! In part two, we continue to discuss the evolution of Fred's own music, and how he finally broke the “Leave Deaner Alone” mantra to get up the gumption to ask Deaner if he'd jam. The answer was, “I thought you'd never ask.” It was awesome hearing Fred talk about actually recording and working with Deaner at his private studio, as well as playing live with Deaner, and his fly-on-the-wall experience with the production of the Dean Ween Group album (Fred's pic made the album art!) Of course, we also talked about WEEN: his favorite album, his experiences as a Ween taper, especially for rare shows like the Concert for Claude, and we waxed philosophical about what the future might hold for new Ween music. You'll want to hear what Fred had to say! And for the true New Hope insider, we also discussed the history of the Invitational at John and Peter's, (here is a link to Fred's youtube page where he discusses the Invitational in depth) as well as temporary exile across the street to Mojito's. We finished up by discussing Fred's live streaming work during the pandemic, groundbreaking awesomeness for sure! It was a blast chatting with Fred, and we hope you enjoy it! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/weencastpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/weencastpodcast/support
Join us, Weenheads, as we rundown our episodes from 2020! 2020 has been one upside down year for sure, with the pandemic, election anxieties, racial injustice and civil unrest, and so a third of the way through the year, we had no idea what to expect out of the podcast. Well, we both were fortunate to not get laid off or out of work as a result of the pandemic, and it turned out being stuck at home all this time provided plenty of time for remote podcasters such as ourselves to practice their craft. So we are happy to look back, and see that we pulled off a hell of a year. We produced more episodes in a year than ever before, had several amazingly awesome and unforeseen interviews, expanded our Patreon offerings patreon.com/weencastpodcast ,and had our highest listenership ever. If 2020 was a bronco buck at a Wyoming rodeo, then we took the bull by the horns and rode it for all it was worth! First and foremost, we want to say thank you to all our fans, patrons, and contributors. And thank you to Ween, without whom we wouldn't be doing this podcast at all. Extra super duper thank yous to: Claude Coleman, Mike Maronna, Fred Moore aka August Forming, The Reverend B'ill, Tomato Eleven, Kenny from Earfloss, Brian for the awesome digital artwork, and Travis at West Brandywine WoodWorks. Also, huge shoutouts and thank yous to the following patrons and contest participants: Mike, Miles, Daniel, Spencer, Dan, Corrine (Rin) aka Rin the Red, Cody, Michelle, Rich, Ben, Andre/Matter, Laura, Helen, Shawn, Rick, Sonya, Eli, and Jim. Thank you and dog bless! In 2020, we covered four ween shows: 5/27/2000, The Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA; 7/21/2000, Metropol, Pittsburgh, PA; 03/23/2001, The Tradewinds, Sea Bright, NJ, and 04/06/2001, The Norva, Norfolk, VA. The first two were from a post White Pepper spring tour in 2000 featuring the quintet at the height of their powers, while the latter two were from a brief Glenn-free tour in 2000 that showcased the hard rocking, heavy metal side of Ween. In the category of rockumentary, we put out a double episode of our interview for the podcast Earfloss by Kenny, and as 2020 was the 20th anniversary of White Pepper, we also rocked out an episode covering the story of its creation, behind the scenes, influences, discussions of the songs, and the albums place in the annals of Ween. We rarely actually plan interviews, but in 2020, interviews kind of fell in our lap. We interviewed Fred Moore, aka August Forming, taper legend and member of Bill and Fred's Excellent Adventure, Claude Coleman, who needs no introduction www.soundspaceavl.com, and Michael C. Maronna, former actor and huge Ween fan. We are incredibly honored to have interviewed these guys. Check them out, the episodes speak for themselves! For the first time ever, we ran a contest and it concluded in our Summer Spectacular Fan Story Contest episode in September. What a blast! It was gratifying to have so many submissions that we actually had to be selective. And it was awesome collaborating with West Brandywine WoodWorks to offer an amazing handcrafted, Boognish emblazoned cutting board to the winner. Congratulations Helen, aka Ween Lebowski! I guess that just about covers it. What a crazy year. Thanks again for listening. Here's to a great new year!
