In this episode, we dive into an exciting announcement with Zach and Q from Foundation. After two years of hard work, they unveil the team's latest creation, the Passport Prime, a revolutionary personal security platform. Unlike traditional hardware wallets, Passport Prime combines the features of a hardware wallet with those of a YubiKey, offering multi-factor authentication, encrypted storage, and an extendable app platform for third-party developers. This open app platform aims to empower developers to build security applications, contrasting with Ledger's closed ecosystem.Zach and Q discuss the meticulous design process behind Passport Prime, highlighting its unique industrial design, including a curved screen and CNC'd aluminum chassis. They emphasize the device's durability, featuring Gorilla Glass and a high-quality IPS touchscreen display. The conversation shifts to the device's capabilities, which extend beyond a typical hardware wallet. Passport Prime supports various applications, including a 2FA codes app, a security key application, a file browser with a unique AirLock feature, and a seed vault app. These features make it a Swiss army knife for personal security, allowing users to securely store and manage their digital assets.KeyOS, the operating system powering Passport Prime, is introduced as a microkernel-based OS written in Rust, offering modularity, resilience, and enhanced security. The open-source nature of KeyOS allows third-party developers to create apps for the platform, with Cake Wallet being the first to integrate. The episode also covers the innovative Quantum Link Bluetooth, which ensures secure communication between Passport Prime and smartphones. This feature, along with the device's modular design, addresses potential security concerns while enhancing user experience. Finally, the hosts discuss the backup solutions for Passport Prime, utilizing NFC key cards and optional cloud backups to provide a seamless recovery process. The episode concludes with details on the device's availability and pricing, highlighting the team's dedication to creating a high-quality, user-friendly product.IMPORTANT LINKShttps://foundation.xyz/ungovernablehttps://foundation.xyz/beyondungovernablecrew@proton.mehttps://github.com/betrusted-ioVALUE FOR VALUEThanks for listening you Ungovernable Misfits, we appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoy the shows. You can support this episode using your time, talent or treasure.TIME:- create fountain clips for the show- create a meetup- help boost the signal on social mediaTALENT:- create ungovernable misfit inspired art, animation or music- design or implement some software that can make the podcast better- use whatever talents you have to make a contribution to the show!TREASURE:- BOOST IT OR STREAM SATS on the Podcasting 2.0 apps @ https://podcastapps.com- DONATE via Paynym @ https://paynym.rs/+misfit- DONATE via Monero @ https://xmrchat.com/ugmf- BUY SOME CLOTHING @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/store/- BUY SOME ART!! @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/art-gallery/FOUNDATIONhttps://foundation.xyz/ungovernableFoundation builds Bitcoin-centric tools that empower you to reclaim your digital sovereignty. As a sovereign computing company, Foundation is the antithesis of today's tech conglomerates. Jackson Mankowski grew up in a prominent musical home in Wisconsin (his dad is jazz saxophonist, Woody Mankowski). His formative years were filled with all sorts of classic music, so it's hardly a surprise that Jackson would become a musician himself. He's been around long enough to have experienced a lot that life throws at a person and it's evident in his songwriting. He writes, sings, and plays from the soul and as time progresses, that soulfulness in his songs only gets richer and deeper. In today's episode, we met up with the infectiously fun and self-proclaimed Jack of all trades, Natti from Fickle Friends. Fickle Friends continue to release banger after banger and have toured all over since forming in 2013. Fun Fact… Natti is actually the first guest that Flawes have officially collaborated with in the past (if you don't count the various Ella songs JC played on and the song we wrote with Thom). Fickle Friends did a remix of 'Here To Stay' that we released a couple of years ago! Stay tuned to hear nightmare stories on stage in Bingley, Natti's guide to securing work with Harry Styles and an array of off-topic tangents seemingly beginning with the letter C - caves, car insurance, curries, cats, and coffee. This is NATTI from FICKLE FRIENDS coming up on ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar'!

"Bluegrass Vacation” With close to 20 albums under his belt, including Country Love Songs, Let's Kill Saturday Night, and his fabulous new one Bluegrass Vacation, Robbie Fulks has had quite a career. Over the last thirty years the Pennsylvania born singer-songwriter has collaborated with everyone from Steve Albini to Dallas Wayne to NRBQ's Al Anderson, worked as a country music songwriter for the Music Row publisher API and scored two Grammy nominations in 2016 for Best Folk Album and Best American Roots Song. There's a lot that's cool about Robbie Fulks—his flatpicking guitar style, his poetic turns of phrase, his unique sense of humor and his penchant to cover songs you'd never think he'd cover—he's knocked out versions of tracks by everyone from The Bangles to Shania Twain, so you pretty much never know what's going to happen. But what's really cool about Robbie Fulks is that he's an engine of creative power and that engine hasn't dimmed once in his 30 year career. His new album Bluegrass Vacation is a rollicking and joyful blast of sheer bluegrass bliss. From One Glass of Whisky to Old Time Music is Here To Stay, Bluegrass Vacation is a joyful romp that references the genre with a respectful tip of the hat that breathes new life into an old tradition. www.robbiefulks.com www.bombshellradio.com www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.embersarts.com www.alexgreenonline.com Twitter: @emberseditor IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com
Najee, a chart topping saxophonist and flutist, is a contemporary jazz pioneer. The Grammy and NAACP award-winning musician has been one of the brightest starts in the genre for nearly four decades. Coool CAT's producer, Ray White, sat down with Najee in November of 2022 who talked about his latest album Savoir Fare - that was produced during Covid and utilized technology to bring the musicians together for the project. Najee also touched on several of his favorite legendary flutists and much more. In our showcase segment, Lisa Davis features three of the top R&B and Soul artists in history. The legendary Smokey Robinson whose upcoming album is Gasms, the two-time Grammy award winners Kool and the Gang and the super smooth sounds of Kenny Lattimore who released Here To Stay in 2021. Great smooth sounds with an upbeat twist, right here on the Coool CAT!

Introduction to Nutrigenomics for Runners Nutrigenomics is a relatively new approach to personalised nutrition and is still in its infancy in the world of sports nutrition. So in this episode we outline the definition of Nutrigenomics and introduce you to how it is currently being explored and adapted as an approach to personalised nutrition for athletic performance Show Notes (04:15) Defining Nutrigenomics and outlining WHY it is being explored as an approach to enhance sports performance (13:08) Outlining specific nutrients and how genetics may influence how they are used by the body (15:45) Discussing the genetic variants for CAFFEINE and how they could affect and modify a runner's response to health and their performance? (19:58) Discussing the genetic variants for IRON and how they could affect and modify a runner's response to health and their performance? (25:34) Discussing the genetic variants for VITAMIN B12 and how they could affect and modify a runner's response to health and their performance? (27:08) FEMALE FCTORS Females tend to be at increased risk of iron deficiency due to the menstrual cycle. They are also thought to have a lower overall energy intake from food compared to males. So, if they also have the risk gene for low iron status, then their risk of iron deficiency anaemia could be further elevated. When going through that menopause and moving into the phase of not menstruating, there is, for some women, a period of a few months and up to a year where iron levels could be higher than normal. This would be a time when women should avoid any iron supplementation due to the risk of iron overload and toxicity, especially for women who may have the risk gene for haemochromatosis. (33:25) Looking at how to put the knowledge into practice – which tests to choose (39:17) KEY TAKEAWAYS Nutrigenomics for runners and all athletes uses genomic technologies and genetic information to address issues important to nutrition, health, body composition and performance Nutrigenomics is still in its infancy when relating it to sports performance, however it would appear it is HERE TO STAY… but more research is required Remember our genes load the gun but our lifestyles (and environment) pull the trigger…so, even if we have an “at risk” gene it does not mean that it HAS TO BE expressed Genetic testing alone is not necessarily helpful, a FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE approach to care alongside other tests (blood/urine) would be far more beneficial to the athlete There are many nutrients that have been studied for their genetic variants, however some that are pertinent to a runner include: Caffeine, Iron and Vitamin B12 If you are considering DNA testing to support your health and running performance, remember to use a reputable testing company. We recommend you work with a professional who is trained/certified in interpreting the test results and who can give appropriate and personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. When the pandemic started, many people looked to government to fight the virus and provide them economic relief. But after years of restrictions, a lot of folks are urging those same government officials to get off their backs. Is there even such a thing as social media overwhelm?Social media overwhelm is a legitimate concern that most entrepreneurs (like me) face in our journeys. We find it a scary struggle putting ourselves out there for people to see, think, analyze and engage.Despite this, brands, businesses, and entrepreneurs spend scores of money marketing themselves, their products, or services to their target audiences. …AND it's undoubtedly worth the effort There are two reasons:ONE, social media marketing is HERE TO STAY (and is already the primary source of generating leads for many businesses). And TWO, when used in the right manner, social media marketing can offer perks you never thought you could achieve (which includes showing yourself authentically to people at large). So yes, by not making use of what's available through these platforms, we're missing out on a lot of opportunities. The advantages of social media for entrepreneurs and businesses are many. But most importantly, it saves you time. Why pitch to individual leads when you can instead market to your target population all at once?So where do we start? How do we discover what it takes to be a successful social media marketer? This episode answers those questions for you. Rebecca Hoover, my guest for this podcast episode, is an expert social media marketing specialist with a background in business management. In this episode you'll learn actionable strategies and processes to set up, launch, and grow your social media profile and find new customers for your business.Rebecca offers tips for entrepreneurs wanting to level up their social media engagement and find customers for their business. And if you're marketing on a local level, you would benefit from her tips to keep away social media overwhelm and stay on the top of technological advancements!Curious?Jump to these sections of the episode to take a glance at the talking points: ● [03:46] Rebecca's path to becoming a social media marketing specialist, her background in business management, and why she says running events are like the "mini version of running a business".● [06:38] Social media strategies for finding new customers for a brand -- 1) Using paid advertising to expand your business across geographies, 2) Creating organic content with clear calls-to-action, 3) Creating a separate website for franchising to keep it away from the main website.● [09:12] Rebecca's advice of strategies for individual entrepreneurs and franchisees marketing on a local level -- post behind-the-scenes of product making or photos of past jobs with clients or before-after photos of your product (whichever is relevant), make the best first impression to your leads and respond to reviews and comments actively.● [11:37] How to battle the overwhelm of social media -- pick what platforms you're comfortable with or hire or outsource someone to manage them for you.● [12:43] How to schedule (or batch) your social media● [13:25] Why it works best to be real and relatable on social media● [14:06] The two challenges Rebecca faces with social media -- getting people to really see the value you provide and tracking and making improvements● [15:40] How to stay on top of the changing technology ● [17:00] Rebecca's advice for becoming a successful social media marketer● [17:56] How to connect with RebeccaAbout Rebecca:Rebecca Hoover is a Social Media and Marketing Specialist for an international franchise company in the education sector. She has been working in the franchising industry since 2015 by supporting franchisees in marketing, social media and business operations. Real talk, there is a lot of misinformation to discuss about DACA. Joining me today on the DACA Series is a strong advocate for the immigrant community, Flor Selena Caseres! Today both Flor and I take on a conversation unpacking many misconceptions that come with being an undocumented latina in the DACA Program. Both of us have heard comments such as, "Why don't you just get a greencard," or "Why don't you just marry an American Citizen," or even, "You don't look undocumented," and it's time to speak up. Through our experience and passion for educating others we hope to offer a different perspective sharing what it really means to be a DACA recipient and some of the challenges we face.
The P pod comes from Durleighmarsh Farm this week, in the midst of a thunderstorm, where we find out more about this popular pick-your-own farm and shop from owner Paul Abbott. As ever, Jon Walker from the Petersfield Post has the latest news - this week from a birds eye view - and Suzie goes Wilde Walking with the help of the Petersfield Museum. We end the P pod with music from a very local musician - James Joe from Churchers College - and his track ‘Here To Stay'. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Future of American Tariffs: A Trump Phenomenon or Here To Stay? Harmon Skurnik and Mark Fornatale Skurnik has been importing wines and spirits from the EU for 33 years, and not once were tariffs considered a serious threat until last year. Now, with the Trump Administration initiating trade wars all over the globe, the threat to EU wine and spirits producers is very real, as evidenced by the October 2019 imposition of a 25% tariff on Spanish, French and German wines, based on the so-called Airbus dispute. Going forward, additional tariff threats loom, due mainly to the Digital Services Taxes being proposed throughout the EU, which the US government calls “discriminatory against US companies”. This situation threatens to bring about new tariffs of up to 100% on wines and spirits throughout Europe, and this time, on Italian wines as well. As a founding board member of the United States Wine Trade Alliance, a trade group doing everything in their power to avoid new tariffs and remove current ones, Harmon is well-equipped to give you the latest updates on this fraught situation, including what the tariff landscape will look like in 2021 and beyond.

Ivan Markman, Chief Business Officer of Verizon Media, joined me on the Reboot Chronicles to discuss all things tech, media, advertising and the next-gen of content for Verizon Media. With an impressive background, Ivan also serves as an advisor, investor or director at CreatorIQ, Measured, Holly by Nimblr.ai, TrueData, PetInsurer, Wonder, QLess, and Local ID. At Verizon he is responsible for the advertising and media platform businesses, B-to-B partnering, and innovating around an evolving set of offerings and solutions for the future. 2020 Trends: What's Here To Stay? With 900 million users worldwide, Verizon has seen a profound shift in consumer consumption patterns due to the pandemic, lock-downs, and here in the US, election year impacts. Specifically, there's been an increase of new, life-oriented content, entertainment, and finance with interest in following market volatility and what is currently happening in a somewhat upside-down world. The pandemic has realigned consumer media expectations, especially when it comes to connected TV consumption (CTV), which as of last year hit 200 million viewers and growing. OTT vs CTV During the course of the year, this dynamic space has seen a lot of change. They launched the Verizon Media Platform, with heavy partner participation and capabilities surrounding content delivery and video streaming. Verizon developed an integrated digital media platform to deliver, display and monetize online content on any device. The platform has over 10,000 of the world's largest brands and publishers including Disney, Fox, and Discovery. The crucial aspect is, as Ivan explains, is to continuously innovate when it comes to technology. Now more than ever, companies must adapt to the tech-driven digital revolution, leveraging the power of data and deploying AI for quicker optimization of assets. Because of the unprecedented coronavirus challenge, online grocery shopping is now the new normal and Verizon Media is well-positioned to take advantage of the behavior shifts. Despite nearly every state reopening its economy and easing lockdown restrictions, the Coronavirus pandemic is still a serious and dangerous reality for healthcare workers across the country. In this episode I speak to Aldo Martinez, a 26-year old Paramedic in Fort Myers, FL. Aldo says he has to deal with a COVID-19 patient at least once a day during his sometimes 48-hour shifts. He’s also one of thousands of DACA recipients saving lives on the frontlines during this health crisis. That means that as he risks his life saving lives, he’s also worried about an upcoming Supreme Court decision that could alter his immigration status. According to the Center for American Progress, nearly 30,000 health care workers are DACA Dreamers. They are paramedics like Aldo, but also doctors, nurses, medical techs, and others who are putting their own health and safety on the line to diagnose and treat the disease. FIRST Aldo gives us a glimpse into his sometimes anxiety-driven shifts during this pandemic, tells us what he’s doing to stay safe and how he deals with the stress and uncertainty of this lockdown. THEN he shares the one lesson from his parents that helps him get through even the toughest day and how this is fueling his dream of becoming a trauma surgeon in the future. It’s a lovely tribute that will inspire you! I would love your feedback! "I am an American in every way... except for documentation." If you couldn't vote, how involved would you get in politics? In Sarah Souza's case, the answer is VERY involved. Souza arrived in the country at the age of 15, went to college as a DREAMer, and grew into a community activist and U.S. public policy expert. The first DACA recipient on the San Francisco County Democratic Central Committee joined us to talk about life in a sanctuary city, how the Democratic party supports Latinx candidates for office, and why motivated leaders like her are #HereToStay.

800,000 undocumented young people in the US will be endangered if the DACA(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program ends. PhDivas Liz and Xine interview DREAMer Dory Castillo, an amazing undergrad furthering children's science education who hopes to become a physicist herself. But because of her undocumented status, she has to live with the threat of deportation to a country she's never even visited. From Dory's dreams about studying fluid mechanics and her love of teaching, we turn to discussing issues of respectability, immigration, and the many, many misconceptions about undocumented immigrants, particularly the DREAMers. We support the DREAMers because they are #HeretoStay. Help to defend DACA: https://unitedwedream.org/

6-piece SKA band The Meddlers enjoys creating a big band sound out of their horn section, while still maintaining their Ska Core roots. Trevor learns more about music this episode! We're so proud of him, he learns about horns...yeah, he didn't know what a 'horn section' in a ska band was. A little bit more technical, he also learns what a musical "exchange" between instruments is. Regardless of that, The Meddlers have created a unique listening experience that brings you through a few different musical styles. Alex and Jonathan talk about the melding of different influences from all the members, including bands outside the Ska scene, including Squirrel Nut Zippers and Leftover Crack. Their multitude of experiences adds a sense of experience to this young band. Formed only in 2015, they have already played with some of the well-knowns like The Toasters and the hispanic band Sektacore. Their writing style also shows their expansive forms, where one or two members would create a melody line and the rest of the band helps finish the song. These guys work as a team and play as a team. It's tough with 6 members...took them awhile to even settle on "The Meddlers" as a band name, but it led them to a beautifully simple logo and a bad joke by Trevor. This band is #HereToStay. Make sure and check them out at www.themeddlersmusic.com or on their Facebook at facebook.com/themeddlersmusic/ - Check them out on the Dusty Futon!
