The Rock n Roll Archaeologist does some actual digging with the help of two veteran journalists, Bryan Reesman and Jeff Slate, as they discuss two recent re-releases from the rock n roll golden age, 1965’s POP GEAR and 1973’s That’ll Be the Day. Without a doubt one of the most ambitious pop group films ever produced, POP GEAR features Britain's top 16 groups and solo acts of the day, from The Beatles to The Animals to Herman's Hermits. Directed by Frederic Goode That’ll Be the Day. Jim MacLaine is 18-years old and studying for his advanced level exams, beginning to find his work increasingly irksome. He packs a suitcase, hitches a lift to the coast, and starts a new life with a new job. While working at a fairground, he's invited to a university dance by his old friend Terry, where he meets Terry's sister, Jeanette. They fall in love, marry, and when their first child is born, Jim seems content. But it is not long before he once again walks out in search of freedom and irresponsibility. Directed by Claude Whatham. Jeff Slate's music has appeared on the BBC and in shows like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Jeff writes about music for the New Yorker, Wall Street Journal, Esquire, Rolling Stone, NBC News, and many other publications, contributed liner notes to the 50th anniversary edition of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and is the author of The Authorized Roy Orbison, a biography of the legend, with Orbison's sons. In 2018, Jeff wrote the liner notes for Bob Dylan's The Bootleg Series, Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks. Jeff is a regular visitor to SiriusXMs Volume, has appeared on Jonesy's Jukebox, and numerous podcasts -- such as Roadie Free Radio and the Rockonomics Podcast, as well as numerous Bob Dylan- and Beatles-themed shows -- and local TV and radio shows. He has been profiled in publications around the world. Veteran entertainment journalist BRYAN REESMAN has interviewed countless pop culture luminaries from around the world. He has test driven a Corvette with Rob Halford, visited Lemmy’s apartment, and been an on-camera interviewer of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Hugh Jackman. He has contributed to the New York Times, Playboy, Grammy, American Way, MSN Movies, and over 100 other media outlets and written extensive liner notes for rock icons including Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and AC/DC. A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Bryan is the author of the biography "Bon Jovi: The Story" (Sterling). Over four years had passed since the official break-up of the Beatles, and by the tail end of 1974 the world of music was changing, evolving and finding new stars to light the way. But despite these shifts in faces and trends, the Beatles' legend remained surprisingly vital, with not only a slew of successful solo material from the former fabs, but also from tributes such as the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the Road off-broadway musical. Though it was panned by critics, this production tapped into a public yearning for a return of the band that changed everything - and while a formal reunion was never to be, Beatle music was alive and well in the cultural zeitgeist. But nostalgia wasn't the only currency of the day, November 1974 also brought with it Ringo Starr's new album Goodnight Vienna. To follow-up the monster success of 1973's Ringo album, Starr and producer Richard Perry brought in new guest stars and new hooky material in the hopes of repeating their own critical and commercial heights the year prior. John Lennon also returned to lend his friend a helping hand on the title track, as well as lead-off single Only You (an arrangement Lennon and Harry Nilsson had been work-shopping for the ill-fated Oldies But Moldies project). From the Elton John/Bernie Taupin-penned Snookeroo to the novelty No-No Song, Goodnight Vienna was indeed another successful endeavor - though ultimately fell far short of its predecessor. And as 1974 draws to a close, there's still another solo Beatles LP ready for release... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

If I fell. While My Guitar Gently Weeps», "Mientras mi guitarra llora suavemente", está escrita por George Harrison e incluida en The White Album. Come together. ¿Get Back?

Helmed by a doe eyed Peter Frampton and the drug addled husks of The Bee Gees, masterminded by their manager, and rounded out with a cadre of cartoon voiced actors, Sgt. Presenter: Tina Daheley Producer: Kirsty Starkey According to Freedom of Information requests made by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism almost 700 cases of alleged domestic abuse involving police officers and staff were reported in the three years to April 2018. An official “super-complaint” is to be launched and central to that are at least 12 cases where women have made allegations of domestic abuse and sexual violence against an officer, only for the case to be dropped and, on occasion, for the alleged victim to be arrested and intimidated. We’ll hear from Harriet Wistrich lawyer and founding director of the Centre for Women’s Justice who are bringing the complaint and two female Police officers, one serving and one former, who are bringing a claim against Gwent Police. Jann Haworth is the co-creator of The Beatles' iconic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. Regarded as one of the leading figures of the British Pop Art movement she was also seen as a pioneer in the face of the 1960’s American feminist movements. Before Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or the White Album, there was Help! by The Beatles. There's not much complexity in this album, unlike some other albums we've looked at, but this one holds a unique charm that makes it stand out from all of the rest. It remains a timeless classic album today, thanks to John, Paul, George, and Ringo: The Beatles' Help!

Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to. Joining Tim this time is Beatle Academic Chris Shaw, who can identify every photo on the cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band but still struggles to find anyone else who can remember action comedy cartoon Bailey's Comets, Trade Test Transmission film Evoluon, BBC2 muso how-to show Rock School, live action/animation movie The Phantom Tollbooth, Radio London phone-in host Robbie Vincent, and Fighting Fantasy phone-in role-playing game F.I.S.T.. Along the way we'll be listening to Herbie Hancock jamming with Emu, revealing why you should never employ Freddie Phillips as your punchline writer, and looking into what happened in that weird bit of the television listings where the font went a bit smaller than the rest of it. Bien, no? BUENAS VIBRACIONES.

Sharon Redd - Somebody Save The Night SImple Dj Friendly Edit By PetkoTurner DL >> https://hypeddit.com/track/qfzlb4 THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DISCO CLUB SONGS EVER. BEST GROOVE, SOUNDING, ARRANGMENT, MOOD, PRESSURE, LYRICS, COOLNESS AND ATMOSPHERE FOR A DISCO CLUB DANCE NIGHT CONSOLIDATED AND PACKED IN ONE JAM. In the midst of mounting a comeback in the early 1990s, Redd died of pneumonia on May 1, 1992. Dance Music Report magazine reported that her death was AIDS-related. Sharon Redd was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Gene Redd and Katherine Redd. Gene Redd was a producer and musical director at King Records, and her stepfather performed with Benny Goodman's orchestra. Her brother Gene Redd Jr. was a songwriter and producer for Kool & the Gang and BMP. Her sister Pennye Ford is also a singer with two albums to her credit and known for her work as the main singer for Snap!. She began her recording career with four singles in 1968 for the United Artists label, three written and all four produced by songwriter and record producer Bobby Susser. Susser chose the Hank Williams song "Half As Much" to be Redd's first single. Redd's vocals, against Susser's heavy-bass track, made her presence very quickly known to R&B radio stations. Redd, as a budding actress, got a major break when she starred in an Australian production of the rock musical Hair. She was among a troupe of young African-American imports to the Sydney production, a group which notably included Marcia Hines. Redd appeared in the production from its June 6, 1969 premiere through 1971. As Redd was becoming famous in Australia, she was interviewed by Barry Sloane on a 1971 episode of "GTK". Her popular adverts for Amoco led to her own television special. Redd and Hair co-star Teddy Williams were asked to leave Australia by the Immigration Department in April 1971 for reasons they believed were race-motivated. Aside from Hair, Redd also appeared in Ti-Jean and His Brothers and, in 1974, traveled to London to star in an American production of The Wedding of Iphigenia. In 1977 Redd played the role of Sherrye in the U.S. television sitcom "Rhoda".[9][10] 1978 also saw Redd feature as a guest in the musical Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In the mid-1970s, Bette Midler was looking to replace Merle Miller and Gail Kantor, both of whom had left after Midler's 1973 tour to pursue their own interests. Midler auditioned over 70 performers, but Redd landed the job, becoming one of Bette's Harlettes. Aside from performing as a Harlette, Redd also provided backing vocals for Carol Douglas ("Burnin'" and "Night Fever") and Norman Connors ("You Are My Starship"). Having ended their association with Midler, Redd, Charlotte Crossley, & Ula Hedwig released an LP, Formerly of the Harlettes, in late 1977. In 1979, Redd recorded the disco hit "Love Insurance," released by Panorama Records under the name Front Page, her own vocals going uncredited. But she soon signed a recording contract with Prelude Records, and Redd became the label's most successful artist. Her first album, 1980's self-titled Sharon Redd, was closely followed by two more—Redd Hott (1982) and Love How You Feel (1983). Redd placed several songs on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, including "Beat the Street," "In the Name of Love," and "Love How You Feel." After these releases, Sharon Redd returned to her successful career as a background vocalist, most notably with the group Soirée, which also included among its members Luther Vandross and Jocelyn Brown. Following the UK top 20 success of a re-recorded "Can You Handle It", she recorded a single entitled "All the Way to Love", with Les Adams. The song remains unreleased. This was to be her last solo recording. In 1993, Pennye Ford dropped the 'e' from her name and released the album Penny Ford, which featured a duet with her sister entitled "Under Pressure."
