This Sunday, co-lead pastor Alex Leyva continued our series in Zechariah with a message from chapters 9–11, reminding us of God's faithfulness to His word. In chapter 9, we see that God promised to judge the proud—and He did. He stands against what is evil and calls us to worship Him alone as our true King. But God also promised to send His King—and He did. Jesus entered not with force, but in humility, riding on a donkey, pouring out His blood to set us free. And God has promised to restore His people—and He will. Chapter 10 points us to a God who does the work of restoration, shaping His people by truth, not falsehood. May we be a people who put away what is empty and cling to the only One who satisfies.

Continuing our series through the Psalms, we arrive at Psalm 2- one of the great Messianic Psalms. Here, we find that in the midst of the rebellion of the nations, God has placed His King upon the throne. This king, His son, shall rule and reign, and the nations are called to recognize the wisdom in submitting to his rule.

Go to follow.lifeword.org! ~~~ The conclusion to all that we have studied this week is pretty simple: Our hope, our confidence is in the eternal durability, unstoppability, unconquerable king and kingdom of God. And we can have confidence in this hope because of the resurrection. Stay true to God's kingdom through the submission to the Holy Spirit. When it looks like God's people are going to be defeated, going to be erased from the pages of history, don't lose hope. God is simply arranging the pieces on the chessboard. His Kingdom will not be overthrown because His King has already conquered all that He needs to guarantee His success. And because of that you are a part of an unstoppable kingdom.

In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Zechariah 9. In this passage, we see that God's coming will secure His land, through His King and for His people. As we study this passage, we learn that just as God has judged His own people, so much more (without mercy) will He judge the wicked. We see the righteous King (Christ Jesus) return! We see that God's covenant from Sinai is ratified with blood. Ultimately, in this passage we see the great salvation, deliverance, and beauty of God! ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_2b101f2c20084401b5904c8a8a27d8fa.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_13ed620488e54b35b22845b73abdd8a9.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Psalm 18 is a triumphant declaration at a time of great victory. David (and Christ) explode with love for the Lord (v1), who'd manifested His covenant love to them in many ways. They declare 9 Names of God, describing ways they knew God from personal experience thru many trials (v1-2). Many times they'd called on Him and He delivered them from their enemies. In particular, in the face of death they cried to God and He heard them (v3-6). In its fullest sense it applies to Christ who actually suffered, died & went to Sheol (v4-5), but called to God during this whole time (v6), and He answered. In v7-19, it reveals what happened in the Spirit as God manifested His glory & moved in majestic power at His death & resurrection, bringing darkness & shaking the earth (v7-9,11), personally coming down from Heaven (v10) releasing His arrows against His enemies (v12-14), then invading Hades (v15), and reaching down there by His mighty Arm, He pulled Christ out of the Prison of Hades (v16), rescuing Him from the devil & all His enemies, and raised Him from death & exalted Him to a high spacious place (v17-19). The basis for this divine deliverance was His perfect righteousness as a Man (v19-24): "He delivered me because He delighted in me" (v19b). Likewise, in Christ, God delights in us & delivers us. After His Ascension, God reigns over man thru Christ as His executive at His right hand (Ps 110:1-4). He is merciful, gracious & righteous in His rule, saving the humble & humbling the proud (v25-27). At His resurrection, God regenerated & glorified His human nature, lighting up His lamp, His human spirit (v28, Prov 20:27), anointing Him for victory over all His enemies (v29-36), and sharing His anointing & weapons with His people, who trust in Him, and engage in spiritual warfare in His Name (v30-31). Finally, in God's perfect timing He'll release Him to fully manifest His authority, power & glory to pursue & destroy all His enemies, at His 2nd Coming (v37-42). Then having put down all rebellion, He'll establish His Kingdom on earth and reign as Head of all nations (v43). At this time saved Gentiles, who hear of Him & submit to Him (v43-45) will be included in His covenant community (v49): "Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among (in fellowship with) the Gentiles, and sing praises to Your Name" - quoted in Rom 15:9 and applied to Christ, proving it's a messianic psalm. Rom 15:7-12 quotes 4 prophecies to prove when Christ comes, He'll bring salvation to the Gentiles, so they'll be included with the Jews in God's People. Though these prophecies originally spoke of the Messianic Kingdom, for the Church Age was a Mystery, not yet revealed, they revealed God's purpose to save Gentiles thru His Coming, so Gentile salvation in the Church Age thru the New Covenant is consistent with the revelation of the prophets, and is an initial fulfilment. So Jews & Gentiles in the Church should receive each other as equals (v7). The prophets saw His Coming to die, rise again & establish the new covenant, and had Israel received Him, He'd have established His Kingdom, with Jews & Gentiles equally saved, in fulfilment of the prophecies. But, when Israel rejected Him, instead of establishing the Kingdom, God brought in the Church Age, in which Jews & Gentiles are equally saved, as in the Kingdom. Thus, though He could not fulfil all the Kingdom prophecies, He did fulfil the prophecies of salvation in the new covenant for all who call on His Name, both Jew & Gentile. Similarly, in Acts 15:13-19, James quoted Amos 9:11-12 to show Gentile salvation in the Church Age is consistent with the prophets, as an initial fulfilment, and so Jewish believers should receive Gentiles into the Church as equals. Psalm 18 concludes with a Doxology of Praise, summarising all the great things God did to manifest His covenant love (v46-50), giving Him glory for being His strength & giving Him victory over all His enemies, especially the violent man (antichrist), and for executing justice and establishing His Kingdom on earth over all nations, with Christ exalted as Head. He also gives thanks for the salvation of Gentiles, now in union with Him (v49). He concludes with a summary statement: "Great deliverance He gives to His KING, and shows covenant love to His ANOINTED, to DAVID and his SEED (CHRIST) forevermore" (v50). This confirms Ps 18 was originally fulfilled (in type) to David, but the ultimate fulfilment is to David's SEED, Christ. Just as we are Abraham's Seed, as we're in Christ, the SEED of Abraham, and so inherit his blessing (Gal 3:14,26-29), so we are David's Seed, as we're in Christ, the SEED of David, and so are joint heirs of the covenant blessings (mercies) of David, described in Ps 18. Thus we share in Christ's victory, anointing & reign, thru our union with Him. Thus Ps 18 doesn't just describe God's covenant blessings to David & his Seed (Christ), but also to those in Christ, which we can apply to & appropriate for ourselves.

Psalm 18 is a Thanksgiving Psalm of intense emotion giving God the glory for all the victories God gave David and His Son (Christ) in fulfilling His covenant promises to them (v50). It continues the story * typology from Psalm 17. The title is: "A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all of his enemies and from the hand of Saul." This is clearly an important Psalm, as it is in 2Samuel 22. It's a Messianic Psalm - although it was spoken by David and corresponds to his own circumstances & prayer, it was written in a Spirit of Prophecy, and can only be perfectly fulfilled by the Messiah. This is clear by the magnitude of the language, the claims of perfect righteousness, and the fact Paul quotes v49 in Romans 15:9 and applies it to Christ (see also v2 and Heb 2:13). Moreover, v50 gives a summary: "Great deliverance He gives to His KING, and shows mercy to His ANOINTED, to David and his descendants (SEED = Messiah) forevermore." So this indicates it is about God's manifestation of His covenant love to both His anointed ones - David and Messiah, His Seed. The promises & blessings of this Psalm also apply to believers who are in Christ, the Seed of David. As the title indicates, it was sung after David conquered all his enemies, both internal & external. It gives thanks and glory to God for all the deliverances and victories over the years. David, the warrior king, is a type of Christ, and so the stages of his life foreshadow that of Christ: (1) His anointing, mighty feats, suffering & persecution from the governing authority (Saul) before he became king foreshadow Christ's earthly ministry before He was enthroned as King. (2) David's enthronement as King at Hebron corresponds to Christ's enthronement at His resurrection. At this point, most of Israel did not follow Him (only Judah, a remnant), and although there was a 7-year war between him and the house of Saul, he did not try to force His rule on the rest. He was depending on God to establish His throne. David waited for 7 years before all Israel came to him and submitted to him as King. This corresponds to the 7 years on Israel's Clock yet to run as the Tribulation (Dan 9:24-27) during which Israel will come to Christ (2Sam 3:1) - the typology jumps over the Church Age, which was a mystery. At the end of the 7 years all Israel will be saved and welcome Christ to be her King (2Sam 5:1-5, Matt 24:37-39). (3) At this point, with Israel now submitted to him, David immediately operated in his kingly anointing to conquer all the surrounding enemy nations, starting with Jerusalem (2Sam 5:6-12), where he established His throne, followed by the rapid defeat and conquest of the Philistines (2Sam 5:17-24, 8:1), Moab, Zobar, Syria, Ammon & Amalek (2Sam 8:2-14). Likewise, when Israel receives Him, Christ will return at Armageddon as King of kings and conquer all the enemy armies from every nation gathered against Israel, and sit on His throne in Jerusalem. (4) Then David reigned over Israel and was also the head of the surrounding nations (2Sam 8:15). Likewise, Christ will reign over Israel and all the nations, as King over all the world in the Millennium. At this point David wrote Psalm 18 to give thanks for the manifestation of God's covenant love and power (v1,50). Likewise, it's also the Psalm Christ will sing when He has defeated all His enemies and established His Kingdom, giving thanks for what God has done. We see the stages of the parallel exaltation of David & Christ reflected in the Psalm. In v1-3, Christ (as typified by David) gives thanks for His strength and protection during His earthly life. Then in v4-24 He thanks God for delivering Him from death and conquering all His enemies in His mighty resurrection. Then in v25-36, He describes His regeneration and anointing by God at His resurrection & ascension (coronation) to reign as Lord administering God's grace and justice in His dealings with mankind, and His empowerment to vanquish His enemies, at the appointed time. In the meantime, God anointed Him and His people to operate with strength and wisdom in the ongoing (spiritual) warfare. Then in v37-42, we see Him in His 2nd Coming destroying all the enemy armies at Armageddon (Rev 19) and judging the whole world, destroying all those who hate (reject) Him, grinding all the kingdoms of the world to fine dust (Daniel 2:35). Then, in v43-49, with Israel and the Gentiles in submission to Him, Christ establishes His Millennial Kingdom, becoming 'the Head of the nations' (King of kings) - 43. In this Kingdom, the Gentiles as well as the Jews will be saved and in covenant fellowship with Him (v43-45,49). At this time He will exalt the living God over all (v46), for God had delivered him from all His enemies and subdued them under His feet (v47-48).

In this sermon, pastor Keith shows us from 1 Samuel 18 that the LORD prospers His King and that there are only two relationships to this king: one of love and the other of hatred. Love and loyalty to David was shown by Jonathan and the people of Israel as they saw David prospering in all his undertaking, because he was with the LORD. On the other hand, Saul only showed jealousy and hositility against David. But because David was with the LORD, Saul greatly feared David. Given the two opposite relationships to God's anointed King, pastor Keith asks whether you love God's prospering King Jesus or hate him.

Psalm 2 is a compelling piece of biblical poetry that is categorized as one of the “royal psalms,” dealing primarily with themes of kingship and the establishment of divine order. It is traditionally understood as a coronation psalm, used in the context of the enthronement of a Judaic king, and is also regarded as messianic, foreshadowing the ultimate kingship of Christ in Christian interpretations. Structure and Themes: Psalm 2 is structured into four distinct stanzas, each containing three verses. The psalm progresses through a sequence of voices and perspectives: 1.Verses 1-3 - The Nations' Rebellion: The psalm opens with a rhetorical question about why the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain against the LORD and His anointed. This reflects a universal rebellion against divine authority. 2.Verses 4-6 - Divine Response: God's reaction to this rebellion is described as one of derision and wrath. The Lord asserts His authority by proclaiming the decree of installing His King on Zion, His holy mountain. 3.Verses 7-9 - The King's Proclamation: The anointed king recounts the decree of the Lord, stating that he has been adopted as God's son and given the nations as his inheritance, signifying a universal dominion. 4.Verses 10-12 - A Warning to Kings: The final stanza serves as a warning to the rulers of the earth to serve the Lord with wisdom and submission, highlighting the peril of opposing God's anointed. Interpretative Insights: The overarching theme of Psalm 2 is the inevitability and supremacy of God's plan over human plans and the futility of resisting His will. This psalm starkly portrays the contrast between the tumult of human kingdoms and the unshakeable order of the divine rule. Messianic Interpretation: In Christianity, Psalm 2 is read as a prophecy concerning Jesus Christ, the “Anointed One,” or Messiah. This interpretation is bolstered by its quotations in the New Testament, particularly in Acts 4:25-26 and Revelation 2:26-27, where the themes of this psalm are applied to Christ's mission and authority. Application and Relevance: The psalm serves as a reminder of the power dynamics between divine authority and earthly power. It encourages believers to reflect on their allegiance, urging fidelity to God's sovereignty above worldly power. The warning at the end (“Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way”) can be viewed metaphorically, calling for reverence and submission to divine authority. In contemporary reflections, Psalm 2 continues to be a rich source for theological and spiritual meditation, offering insights into the nature of God's rule, the folly of human resistance to divine decrees, and the ultimate triumph of God's ordained order over chaotic human ambitions.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.

Psalm 2 is a Messianic Psalm of importance, much quoted in the NT, a cosmic Drama describing the present spiritual warfare in the Church Age, especially as it comes to its climax. Along with Ps 1, it's part of the Entrance Hall into the Book of Psalms. Ps 1 reveals the contrast between the righteous & wicked on an individual level, Ps 2 reveals it on a global scale, showing the spiritual conflict between those in God's Kingdom and those in satan's kingdom. Thus they are foundational. In this video, we introduce Ps 2 and see how it fits with our times. It's a Psalm of David (Acts 4:25-26) pointing Messiah's victory & rule over the earth, fulfilling the Davidic Covenant (2Sam7, 1Chr 17). It's parallel to Ps 110, for both speak of Christ as having ascended, having accomplished the work of His 1st Coming & received all authority to rule earth, and both also look forward to His 2nd Coming, when He'll enforce His authority, judge His enemies and establish His Kingdom on earth. Thus they describe the present spiritual war on earth between His 2 Comings. They are prophetic of the spiritual war in the Church Age, with relevance to us, giving a theological perspective for interpreting world events. In Scene 1 the focus is on the unsaved masses of humanity living under darkness & deception, striving with God's Spirit, lovingly yearning for their souls. Speaking thru David, He asks from a heart of love: "Why do they restlessly war against each other, and imagine (meditate) a vain (worthless, empty) thing?” (v1). Why reject God who loves them so much? Why think they can save themselves without God? These souls are the battleground, over which both sides are fighting. In the end each must chose between God & satan. Scene 2 answers the question as we see the forces trying to control them - rebellious angelic & human rulers of earth: “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His ANOINTED (Messiah-King)” (v2). This describes purposeful rebellion against God. This describes the battle-lines of the 2 opposing powers. On one side, the Lord & His Anointed One (Christ & all those in Christ), God's anointed weapon in this war (we are in Ps 2), and on the other side all those fighting for the enemy, both demonic & human. This war is over (1) the inheritance of precious souls, and (2) possession of the nations & their land (v1,8). The enemy's desire & message is revealed in v3. They want to throw off God's laws & authority but can't escape His rule & jurisdiction. In Scene 3, the focus moves up higher to God on His Throne and His Anointed One (2:4). What's His reaction to the enemy? He laughs at all their plots & striving. He's in Heaven, far above, seeing all. He has all authority, knows the final outcome and never worries. Heaven is always full of joy. As we live on the battleground, it's vital for us to keep this vision of God before us - that we are on the victory side and He will defeat all His enemies. We can laugh with God that the enemy is defeated and rejoice in His victory. The next step in this drama is that God gets serious. Righteous anger rises up in Him against His rebellious enemies (v5), and He announces He's already made His decisive move, guaranteeing His victory and the certainty of final judgment on His enemies: “Yet have I installed My King on my holy Hill of Zion” (v6) - fulfilled in His 1st Coming. God sent forth His anointed weapon, Jesus, who destroyed the power of the enemy in His life, death & resurrection. He rose victorious, ascended far above all powers and is seated at God's right hand, signifying His completed work (Ps 110:1). So, God's answer to satan is He has already set His King on His Throne in Heaven, in the holy Hill of Mt Zion. The battle is already won and satan defeated. Jesus paid the price to redeem every soul (His inheritance), and purchased the earth (His possession), so He now possess the earth's title-deed (Rev 5), and has the right to rule all nations. He is already God's appointed King, over both sinners & saints - ruling sinners by external power and His saints internally by His grace. At His 2nd Coming, He'll manifest His authority & victory, returning in power to take possession of all the earth and rule over all nations from His earthly throne of David on the holy hill of Zion. In our spiritual war, we must follow God's example in 2:6, and point to Christ's finished work, declaring He has accomplished our salvation, defeated all evil powers, and has risen victorious and ascended on High, far above all principalities, and is Lord over all. Thus we confess Jesus has defeated the evil one, and is enthroned on high, with all enemies underfoot, so now we also have the victory, for we're in Christ and have risen with Him and sit with Him far above (Eph 2:6), so now we operate from a position of victory (Rom 8:37). We're not trying to get the victory, for He is our victory, and we're enforcing His victory on the earth.

David wrote many of the psalms we have in the Scriptures.   In psalm 145 David is offering God praise as His King.  Looking at this psalm reminds the reader that a life spent serving God is not necessarily easy but worth it as we see the hand of God moving throughout our lives and are compelled to worship our King like David did.

Jesus fought our battles on our behalf and defeated the enemy we could not. ~~~ The Bible is compilation of 66 books and letters that make up on grand narrative, one book, one story. And in that one grand narrative, there is one hero. Everything before that hero arrives on the scene is meant to either foreshadow, point towards, or get us ready for that hero. That Hero is Jesus Christ. David is a precursor, a giant foreshadowing figure of Jesus Christ. And one of the problems we run into when we remove the David and Goliath story from context is that we can easily insert ourselves into the wrong character and we become the David facing off against the big bad giant. But we can't forget the context. David has been chosen by God to be His King for His people. David has been anointed by God, and the Holy Spirit of God has rushed upon Him to empower Him. You have not been anointed as King over God's people. But Christ has. And the Holy Spirit rushed upon Christ, and empowered Christ. And just as David rushed down into the valley of Elah to face Israel's enemy, so too, but in a greater way, did Jesus rush to the hill of Golgotha to face man's greatest enemy of sin and death and Satan. Jesus is the believer's great champion, the man to stand between! He stands between us and death. You need a person to stand between you and death. Your sin has assured that there will be death to pay, hell to pay. And if you are apart from Christ, if you have not Christ as your Savior, as your man between, then you sit there condemned today with no hope. And you will be defeated. You will die. You will face judgment, and you will be given over to eternal death. But listen, there is a man! There is a man who has done the fighting on behalf of people who call out to Him. And what God is calling on you to do today is to put down your weapons, your idols, your pride, your sin, and turn and trust in what Christ has already done. He has already defeated the Goliath of sin. Just like David ran to Goliath, after nailing him with the slingshot, he then cut off his head, so too did Christ stomp Satan, crushing His head, delivering him over to final death. We need to know that in this story, we are the Israelite army. And we have no business heading out to fight against Goliath, but we do have a champion, a man who stands between, who has already fought the Goliath of sin and shame and death, and where David lopped the head off of Goliath, Jesus crushed the head of Satan in the resurrection.

In the last teaching, we saw how The Footsteps of Messiah are directly linked to the feasts. More specifically, it is the three “foot festivals,” also known as the chagim: Pesach Shavuot Sukkot A feast is not just a moed or chag, but mikra [convocation]. It is a planned happening. Here is our working text: Your neck is like the tower of David, Built with rows of stones On which are hung a thousand shields, All the round shields of the mighty men. (So 4:4) Prophecies are planned things, but we don't always understand they are guides that inform every generation...prophetically, a thousand generations, thus “a thousand round shields.” Because the neck is a vulnerable spot, the Tower of David is an excellent analogy. It is tall and conspicuous in Jerusalem, yet a thousand shields cover it. Likewise, in the Shabbat Blessing After Meals, every week we acknowledge that Adonai is a tower of salvations to His King, a Shield keeping His promises to 1,000 generations of Israel [1,000 is a symbolic number-don't get out the calculator!] “He is a tower of deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, To David and his descendants forever.” (2 Sa 22:51) In return, the righteous of each generation walk in the Covenant, and they become shields for their generations. The obedient service of Israel protects the earth in their generations from total calamity. It almost makes me wonder if the sealing of the saints in Revelation and the half-hour silence is not just to protect them, but also to silence them from interceding so that the final destructions can be loosed. Like a mikra, or appointed time of the feast, the prophecies of the gathering of the twelve tribes of Israel are already known. The Temple was the focal point of gathering, and the Tower of David thought to represent it. Rather than the modern Tower of David built in the Second Century BC on the ruins of earlier fortifications, the Biblical tower is thought to be the Temple itself: Pesikta Rabbati 33:1 R' Avin the Levi said: “our neck is like the Tower of David, built as a model …” What does talpiyot mean? The hill toward which all turns are directed. [tel-hill; "the holy hill," the Temple Mount] Proverbs 15:6 “The house of the righteous one [i.e., the Temple, built by David] is a tower of strength, but with the entrance of wickedness, it is polluted.” Tosafot on Berakhot 30a:10:1 The Gemara concludes that the verse “as the tower of David”, refers to the Beit Hamikdash [Temple]. ??????? literally means a landmark. The House, or Temple, is a metaphor for Israel, something Paul emphasized. The Temple past, present, and future is the place where it all "happens." It is part of the prophecy of the Greater Exodus to gather a single people from every nation, tribe, and tongue. What could possibly unite that remnant from every nation on earth? The appointed times. On the other hand, isn't Israel still very scattered? Some faithful, like Joshua and Caleb, visit the Land of Israel and attend the feasts anyway, setting steps in the Land, giving a good report, and establishing a claim to their future inheritance. Even if they are prevented from living there now, they will be back at the conclusion of the Greater Exodus! Others cannot afford it or are too feeble. Nevertheless, they continue guarding and serving in the lands of their exile faithfully. They gather for the feasts and understand that they are little temples stationed wherever they are to testify to the Covenant by being "conspicuous," like a tower hung with a thousand shields. These are the shields of their generation, leaving no generation's place with an empty spot. Because the rows of stones graduate higher and higher, each generation builds on some strength or advances a step higher than the previous ones. This allows them to "shield" their generation with obedience and prayer. Scorn for the shortcomings of previous generations c...

Text: Psalm 2:1-12 1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, 6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” 7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. 8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.” 10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. GOD LAUGHS Pagan nations led by their rulers and kings, had opposed ‘the Lord and His Anointed'.[v.1-3] They take their stand proudly against God. They "set their counsel" here implies deliberate preparation and arrangement. It's ridiculous to think that one can overpower, undermine, or escape from the will of God, isn't it? Why? It's an attempt to throw off the authority of the Sovereign God and His Anointed One.[v.3] Anointed [mashiach], from which is derived the English word Messiah or Christos in Greek, is predictive of Jesus. The opposition to God and the Messiah are inseparable. John declares, “No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.”[1 John 2:23] Similarly Luke says, “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”[Luke 10:16] But, our confidence is in the victory of the Messiah [v.4-9] God "sits", a reference to His throne (Isa 6:1), from which He rules heaven and earth. From that lofty and majestic position, He sees the frantic and feeble nations. He laughs. Isaiah declares, "Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust. All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness."[Isa 40:15,17] Take for example the proud Nimrod who built Babel who ultimately crumbled. Victory is certain. The sovereign Creator of the universe will set His King, the Lord Jesus Christ, Israel's Messiah on Mount Zion, His holy hill.[v.6] Let's recall Gabriel's address to Mary. He prophesied concerning Jesus: "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom, there will be no end" (Luke 1:32–33). As King David has ruled from Jerusalem, so King Jesus will rule from Jerusalem[Zion]! He is begotten.[v.7] Interestingly, in the ancient near east, a king was considered ‘begotten' when he entered into kingship. He is assured that the nations of the earth would be his heritage and the earth his possession. The prophet Zechariah anticipates Messiah's possession of the nations by declaring, "And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you."[Zech 2:11] He would smash the rebellious with a rod of iron and break them into pieces as crushed pots. But, the Lord has offered hope to the nations.[v.10-12] God warned them to be wise and humble lest they be crushed. Pride is the recipe for destruction.[Prov 16:18] They must revere and serve Him. Serving God is the hallmark of Christianity, isn't it?

Psalm 61 - "Lead Me to the Rock..."

"Lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Spurgeon called Psalm 61 a pearl, little but precious!  David could have written this psalm during any of the many times he was in danger, but perhaps the best context is the rebellion under Absalom (2 Sam. 15-18). David prayed about a foe (v. 3), protection for his life (v. 6), and the security of his throne (v. 7, where "abide" means "be enthroned"). The psalm opens with David crying out in distress but closes with him singing praises to God. There was an urgency in David's cry because he was overwhelmed by what was happening and fainting under the pressure. He was obviously not at "the ends of the earth," but he felt that way, for he was away from home and away from the sanctuary of God. He was describing "spiritual geography" and his need to know the presence of God in what was going on. The image of the Lord as "rock" is a familiar one in David's writings (Psalms 18:2, 31, 46; 62:2, 6, 7). A rock is a symbol of strength, stability, and security. I can't help but think of one of my favorite hymns, The Solid Rock. “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand: all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.”  Paul told the church at Corinth that when the people of Israel came out of Egypt with Moses that they “all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:3-4). David needed the Lord to “lead him”, to lead him to this Rock, to help him and sustain him (Psalm 62:2, 6, 7). We are never so far away that we can't pray to God, or, as in the case of Jonah, so far down (Jonah 2). David looked back at his life and was encouraged to remember that God had never failed him in any crisis (v. 3), and He would not fail him now. To David, God's home was the tabernacle, the place where His glory dwelt; and David longed to be back in Jerusalem to worship and adore his Lord (v. 4). "I will trust in the shelter of Your wings", probably refers to the cherubim on the mercy seat that covered the ark of the covenant in the Holy of Holies (Psalms 36:7-8; 57:1; 63:2, 7). David was not a priest, so he couldn't enter the Holy of Holies, but he could abide in the Lord and find refuge in Him (Psalms 46:1; 90:1). God's "wings" provided safety right where David was, so he didn't need his own "wings" to fly away (Psalm 55:6-8). When David became king, he made some promises to the Lord and to the people, and he intended to keep those promises. All during his wilderness exile, while hiding from Saul, David obeyed the Lord (Psalm18:19-27), and he sought to be a shepherd to the nation. Why would the Lord care for David all those years, give him his throne, and then allow him to be replaced by his wicked son? His throne was his heritage from the Lord (16:5-6), just as the land of Israel was the heritage (possession) of God's people (37:9, 11, 22, 29, 34). David's requests in verses 6-7 relate to God's gracious covenant with David (2 Sam. 7). The Lord promised David a throne forever and a dynasty forever (Psalm 89:36), and this has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ (Luke 1:30-37; Acts 2:22-36). David's concern was not for his own name or family but for the future of Israel and God's great plan of redemption. His own throne was in jeopardy at that time, but he had confidence that God would keep His promises. "He shall abide before God forever " (v. 7) meant "May King David live out his full life," protected by God's mercy and truth, but to believers today it means, "May Jesus Christ reign forever!" The throne of glory is secure, for God has set His King on His holy hill of Zion! (Psalm 2:6). In view of this, let's follow David's example and trust the Lord, call on Him, obey Him "day after day," and sing His praises. God bless!

Remember in verse 6, God the Father declared a decree, despite what the kings of earth were thinking about how powerful and sovereign they were, that He will set up His King on His Holy Hill of Zion. Now in verse 7, the Son, Jesus, responds and tells us what the Father said to Him. "I will declare the decree" informs the rebels that God rules His creation on the basis of sovereign decrees. He doesn't ask for a consensus or take a vote. God's decrees are just (7:6), and He never makes a mistake. How good to know that God has decreed the fulfillment of His plan, and that man will not hinder God's working. Christ speaks in these verses and tells us what the Father said to Him in His eternal decree. "You are My Son, today I have begotten You." When did the Father say this to the Son? Not when He was born into the world, and came out of Mary's womb, but when He came out of the tomb in His resurrection. Christ was "begotten" from the virgin tomb into a glorious life of resurrection power. In Acts 13:28-33, where the Apostle Paul was preaching to the Jews on his first missionary journey in Antioch of Pisidia, he quoted from Psalm 2 as he proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “…But God raised Him from the dead. He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. And we declare to you glad tidings--that promise which was made to the fathers. God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.' And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption…” You will recall the Father saying to the Son at His baptism, "This is my Beloved Son" (Matt. 3:17). He repeated this at the Transfiguration where Jesus faced His death on the cross (Matt. 17:5). Because of His victory over sin and death, Christ is given an inheritance. These verses are quoted again in Hebrews 1:4-5: “Having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You"? And again: "I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son"? Jesus has all the nations as His inheritance because of His faithful work on the cross. However, Satan offered Him these same kingdoms apart from the cross; (Matt. 4:8-10). Jesus could have received the nations without suffering had He yielded to the devil, but then He would have stepped outside the Father's will. (Of course, it was impossible for Christ to sin, but the temptation was still just as real.) Satan will offer these kingdoms to Antichrist, and he will rule the nations for a brief season. (Rev. 13:1-10). When will Christ receive "the uttermost parts of the earth" for His possession? When He returns to the earth in power and glory; (Rev. 19:11-21). Psalm 2:9 is referred to in Revelation 12:5: “She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.” And also in Revelation 19:15: “Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” The Father has promised the Son complete victory over the nations, which means that one day He will reign over all the kingdoms of the world. Christ's rule will be just but firm, and if they oppose Him, He will smash them like so many clay pots. Jesus is God, Jesus is King, and Jesus is Conqueror. Today, I believe we can also pray and ask the Father for the nations as an inheritance for Jesus Christ as we share the good news of Christ's resurrection with them! Will you join me in doing this! God bless!

In verses 1-3 we heard the voice of the nations. It was the voice of rebellion. These verses remind me of Psalm 53:1-3. “The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good." In my Bible next to these verses, I wrote down, “Why? Because…” Why do they claim there is no God? Because they are corrupt and are living in abominable iniquity. They don't want to be accountable to a Holy God one day! If they are going to enjoy their sin and wicked ways, they can't have God even in their thoughts or mind. But my friend, to deny something or someone does not take them out of existence! God is still where He always was, in Heaven! The peaceful scene in heaven is quite a contrast to the noisy scene on earth, for God is neither worried nor afraid as puny man rages against Him. He merely laughs in derision (37:8-13; 59:1-9). After all, to God, the greatest rulers are but grass to be cut down, and the strongest nations are only drops in the bucket (Isa. 40:6-8, 12-17). How does God respond to the threats of men? He laughs! It is the holy voice of derision, for God is greater than man and need not fear the proud attacks of puny kings. Today, God does not speak today in judgment; but instead He is speaking to the nations in His grace and calling them to trust His Son, but the day will come when God will speak to them in His wrath and send terrible judgment to the world (Rev. 6-19). If people will not accept God's judgment of sin at the cross and trust Christ, they will have to accept God's judgment of themselves and their sins. The day is coming when God will have "the last laugh" (Ps. 37:1-15; 59:1-8). Remember how proud Sennacherib defied God and the Jews and then was suddenly wiped out? (2 Kings 19) This will happen again when God decides to deal in judgment with the nations of the world. There is also the voice of displeasure in verse 5. The word "displeasure" means "fiery anger". This is the tribulation, described in detail in Rev. 6-19. It will be a time of awful judgment upon the land and sea, the heavens, the world of nature, and people and nations. Millions of people will die in plagues and heaven-sent disasters. During the tribulation period, the nation of Israel will be "purged" to prepare a believing remnant for the return of Christ to establish His kingdom from Jerusalem. Multitudes will be saved during this time, but many of them will seal their decision with their own lives. Finally, God's voice is a voice of declaration (v. 6); God has set ("His anointed"), His King upon His holy hill. This is Christ (Isa. 9:6-7; Dan. 7:13-14). It was God who gave David his throne on Zion, and it was God who gave David victory after victory as he defeated the enemies of Israel. But this was only a picture of an even greater coronation: God declares that there is but one legitimate King, and that is His Son who is now seated on the throne of glory (Mark 16:19; 1 Cor. 15:25; Eph. 1:19-23). Though Christ is not yet seated on His own throne of glory, or upon the throne of David, He is seated at the Father's right hand; and His throne is as certain as the Father's word! Today, Christ is a priest-king like Melchizedek (Heb. 6:20-7:17). He intercedes for His own. One day He will return in glory and sit upon the throne to judge and rule the nations (Matt. 25:31-46). If we fail to see Jesus Christ in this Psalm, we miss its message completely: His death (vv. 1-3, Acts 4:23-28), resurrection (v. 7, Acts 13:33), ascension and enthronement in glory (v. 6), and His return and righteous rule on earth (vv. 8-9, Rev. 2:9, 27; 12:5). Today, in this age of grace, we can bow in humility and repentance, and we will find hope and mercy! God bless

We also know those without the hope of God live in a dark, deep, and anxious existence. We also know that hope in God brings light. We know we hope in God as the one who will destroy the enemy and deliver the people. This passage in Isaiah 11 feeds this hope. In that day, God will destroy His enemies, install His King, restore His people, and reconstitute His land.

Rev. Dr. Tim Saleska, professor of exegetical theology and Dean of Ministerial Formation at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 2. Psalm 2 pictures the nations and their rulers assembling together in an attempt to cast off the bonds of the LORD and His Anointed. Yet the LORD is the true King; He sits on His heavenly throne. He laughs, derides them, and speaks to them in wrath by proclaiming that His King, the Anointed One, has been set on Zion. The Anointed speaks concerning the decree that the LORD gave, in which the LORD promised His Anointed that His requests would be granted. The Psalm ends with instruction for all rulers to place themselves in subjection to the authority of the Son, the Anointed. Psalm 2 points us to Christ Jesus as the Son of God who did not ask His Father to be spared from death as He reigned from His cross. By His ascension, Jesus is the true King over all. Join Sharper Iron during the month of July to study several Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

If your problem originates in the heavenly places, then you need a solution that originates in the heavenly places as well. Most of us are vaguely aware of angels because they're not part of our physical world. But we need to understand that the angels of God and the demons of hell are the warriors in the cosmic battle between God and Satan. When you hear believers say they are being attacked by the devil, they probably mean they are being harassed by his foot soldiers. Satan is a limited being, just like any other created being. He is not everywhere present, all-knowing, or all-powerful. Satan is not God, but he has a whole host of evil angels called demons he can use for spiritual attacks. Anything that hell can bring against you results from satanic activity in the same realm in which God operates, called heavenly places. You and I are no match for the power and deceptiveness of Satan and his army. We need the power of God to neutralize and eventually overcome Satan's attacks against us. We can be thankful that God has established His throne in heavenly places, pitting His kingdom against the kingdom of darkness. The kingdom of darkness has its own king, Satan, and he wants to be in charge of the universe. Yet when it comes to the universe, there's no question that God's kingdom and His King, Jesus Christ, are firmly in charge. And Jesus' eternal victory is already assured. Still, God has allowed us to choose in our individual lives who will rule over us.Revelation 12 depicts a day when the invisible warfare in the heavenly places will break out in a very visible form. Verse 7 shows us who the enemy is in this conflict: “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels waged war.” The archangel Michael and the holy angels are fighting Satan and the angels who rebelled with him. The battle is angelic, but they are fighting over the earth. Thus, the war in heaven directly affects what is happening on earth. We are in the midst of an angelic conflict, a satanic rebellion, in which Satan is seeking to bring this whole world under his rule. That means when you were born into the kingdom of God, you were born into a war. You were born a warrior. You are surrounded by a spiritual enemy, but the battle is not for land or anything physical. This cosmic battle is for glory. The issue is: Who is going to get the glory in this universe? Who is going to be worshiped? Who will have notoriety? Who will get to call the shots?Satan has essentially said to God, “You cannot have all the glory in creation. I want some of the glory for myself.” God's response? “My glory I will not give to another” (Isa. 48:11). Of course, that answer didn't sit well with Satan, so he set about to steal what was not rightfully his—glory. The battle is for glory. Understanding that is half the fight. That's why Paul told us, “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31; see also Col. 3:23). Glory—it's what the battle is all about.

These are the last words of David, King of Israel, passionate worshipper, forgiven transgressor, ancestor of Jesus, warrior, poet, musician, man after God's own heart…he says, “The God of Israel spoke; the Rock of Israel said to me, ‘The one who rules the people with justice, who rules in the fear of God, is like the morning light when the sun rises on a cloudless morning, the glisten of rain on sprouting grass.'” David could have compared a Godly reign to anything: a castle with high walls, a splendid temple, a rich city bustling with enterprise, military conquest and vanquished enemies. No, he chose a sunrise. A simple sunrise. Something so mundane that it's happened predictably every single day for ages and will continue for ages. A sunrise. Chances are it happened before you got up. Or if you're an early bird and it's still dark, you'll likely get your morning coffee and go through your routine without hardly giving it a second thought. A sunrise. Predictable. Steady. But that's not even what David focuses on. No it's the beauty of a sunrise on a cloudless morning. Nothing to impede the vision of that gentle golden gleam across the glistening grass. Have you noticed that when you stop to watch a sunrise you wish you did so more often? It's breathtaking and yet it happens every morning. You could set your watch by it. In fact, you have to watch it precisely on its schedule not yours. You can't rush the sunrise. And you won't see it if you don't discipline yourself to get up early, sit still long enough, at just the right time, looking in just the right direction. Otherwise you'll miss it - it'll be too late. Such is the Godly King. And you, if you want the effectiveness of David, the closeness to God of David, the blessing of David, ultimately the Jesus of David, you will imitate David who spent many mornings on a hill watching the sunrise, seeking God, getting to know His King. The invitation is there for you just as surely as the sun will rise. Oh God, You are beautiful. I want You my King. I cannot rush You, I will meet You on Your schedule, on your terms. Psalm 2 is the first of the Messianic psalms. It is a psalm that speaks of the ultimate worldwide conquest of Jesus Christ over every king and every kingdom. We are living on a planet that is in rebellion against God and at war with one another. The nations are raging. World rulers are imagining vain things. Fallen men do not want to be ruled by God; thus they take counsel together against The Lord and His Anointed One, Who of course is Jesus Christ. Is God threatened by man's defiance of His sovereign rule and authority?” He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh.” (v4)As we read the Holy Scriptures and observe the events that are unfolding on planet earth, we are compelled to ask ourselves a question regarding our worldview. A person's choice of worldview is really quite simple. It is either man-centered with man in control of this planet's destiny, or it is God-centered with God in control of its destiny. Oh granted there are those whose minds are completely given over to the devil and who have the belief that Satan is in control of this planet. Lord, have mercy on their souls! Despite fallen mankind's twisted attempts to place themselves as rulers over nations and people, the True and Living God declares, “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” (v6) In other words, after every king and kingdom falls, God is going to place His King in Zion, and every king, every resident, every world ruler will be amongst those who will bow the knee and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God The Father (Philippians 2:10-11).But did you notice that God's agenda for His Anointed One Jesus Christ is to ultimately be given “…the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” (Psalm 2:8) In other words, the mandate given unto Jesus Christ is to bring unto The Father all those who repent and trust in Him for the salvation of their souls.I asked you what your worldview was. Let me put it to you another way. Do you have God's worldview of life on planet earth or the wrong worldview? Let God's Eternal Word ever dictate your theology and worldview, not the headlines or current events. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but God's Word will never pass away (Luke 21:33). Selah

When the going starts getting tough in life – you know what we often do – we look to other people to help. People more experienced than us. But what if they've lost the plot too.  Then what? A Hopeless King Have you ever been in one of those places of real desperation – you know, nothing is going right – you're wondering what, if anything, God is thinking and has He taken a holiday; has He taken leave of His senses? How can a faithful God allow this to happen to me… me, of all people? Today on the program, in this second in the series called "Having Faith that Moves Mountains", we're going to take a close look at such a time in the history of Israel. It was absolute desperation time, in fact, things were so bad; people were so hungry that mothers were cannibalising their children. Can you imagine? See, by and large, we don't have to rely too much on faith when things are all going swimmingly well. We need faith when there are mountains that need moving; we need faith when we have something impossible to deal with. And those are precisely the times that we find ourselves at our weakest and most vulnerable. Those are precisely the times when the last thing we feel like we have is some mighty faith. So this story… this story takes place at a time in Israel's history that can best be described as ‘rock bottom'. So let's have a look – if you have a Bible, grab it. We are going to Second Kings chapter 6, beginning a verse 24: Sometime later, King Ben-hadad of Aram mustered his entire army; he marched against Samaria and laid siege to it. As the siege continued, famine in Samaria became so great that a donkey's head was sold for eighty shekels of silver and one-fourth of a kab of dove's dung for five shekels of silver. Now as the king of Israel was walking on the city wall, a woman cried out to him, ‘Help me, my lord king!' He said, ‘No! Let the Lord help you. How can I help you? From the threshing floor or from the wine press?' But then the king asked her, ‘What is your complaint?' She answered, ‘This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son; we will eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.' So we cooked by son and ate him. The next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son and we will eat him.' But she has hidden her son.' When the king heard the words of the woman he tore at his clothes – now since he was walking on the city wall, the people could see that he had sackcloth on his body underneath – and he said, ‘So may God do to me, and more, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat stays on his shoulders today.' So he dispatched a man from his presence. Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Before the messenger arrived, Elisha said to the elders, ‘Are you aware that this murderer has sent someone to take off my head? When the messenger comes, see that you shut the door and hold it closed against him. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him? While he was still speaking with them, the king came down to him and said, ‘This trouble is from the Lord! Why should I hope in the Lord any longer?' But Elisha said, ‘Hear the Word of the Lord: thus says the Lord, ‘Tomorrow about this time a measure of choice meal shall be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.' Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, ‘Even if the Lord were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?' But Elisha said, ‘You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it.' What an incredibly sad state of affairs! Can you imagine a hunger and a hopelessness so deep that mothers are cannibalising their children? I can't conceive of a situation more desperate, more repugnant, and sadder than this. But here it is – that's what happened – rock bottom, in fact, so rock bottom that you and I would struggle to point to an event more rock bottom in our own lives. Israel was under siege from the Aramean Army. The whole point of a siege is to starve the opposition out of their impenetrable citadel and quite clearly, the food has run out. I don't know the last time you went to the butcher's shop and bought a donkey's head but my hunch is there is not a lot of meat on a donkey's head and this was selling for an outrageous amount of money. A clear case of supply and demand. So here's God's anointed King – in fact, the Hebrew word for God's Anointed is "Messiah" and it was so often used of the Kings of Israel. The King is walking up on the ramparts of the city and tearing at his clothes – he is wearing sackcloth, which means that he is in mourning. And up there on the city wall all the people can see him. What they need is leadership and inspiration from God's anointed leader but he's lost all hope in every sense of the word – he's hopeless. And a woman comes to him out of sheer desperation having eaten her son (eaten her son!!) and what does the King have to say? "What do you expect me to do? Look at the mess we are in!" Great leadership! And what's the obvious thing to do when you believe in God and lose hope? Well, of course, you blame God which is what the King did. Clearly, this mess was God's fault – He is God isn't He? And that's exactly what the King did. So as any good King anointed for leadership by God would do, he decides he is going to go and kick the dog – in this case, he is going to go and kill the prophet Elisha – to shoot the messenger, as it were. I make light of it but Elisha was in danger of losing his head. So the King goes to see the prophet. Remember the prophet in society is the man who speaks for God – the prophet's role here in Israel is to speak God's Word into the life of Israel. And so the King demanded to know of the prophet, "This trouble is from the Lord – why should I hope in the Lord any longer?" That, as it turns out, is a very good question. It's a question that a few of us have probably asked once or twice at some rock bottom point along our own journeys. And the prophet speaks the Word of God – it's a word of outrageous hope and promise – it's a faithful word from a faithful God. "Hear the Word of the Lord. ‘Thus', says the Lord, ‘tomorrow this time a measure of choice meal shall be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria." Now that was completely and utterly outrageous; it was impossible, unless you believe God. And remember what the King's soldier said, "Even if the Lord would have made windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?" But God did more than that and as we will see in a moment, within twenty-four hours the words of the prophet – the very Word of God – came to pass. Why? Because however difficult it is to believe; however impossible the situation and big the mountain and distant our God seems, He is mighty to save; He is faithful; He is awesome – just is! Four Nobodies Have you ever met a Mr or Mrs Super Christian? I have! These people have their lives so incredibly together and they seem so strong in their faith, that you go home, you look in the mirror and you think to yourself, "Oh, I could never be like that, I'm hopeless; I'm a failure." Funny how we look at things through the world's eyes – just because on the outside someone appears to be confident and they can tell us good stories of their lives, we assume that they are perfection personified. And we know for sure that they're not. If someone has a position or a title or something like that, we imagine, well, that they are better than us. To do something mighty and powerful, God would obviously use them instead of you or me. But here in this city of Samaria that was under siege, where there was no food, where things were so desperate that mothers were killing and eating their children, God had a plan to bless His people. And you and I, we'd imagine that He is going to do this through His King, the anointed King of Israel, or maybe, His prophet, the man of God on the ground. That's because we look at it from a human perspective. God ends up doing neither of those things – He chooses, well, not even ordinary people like you and me because He wants to make a point, so He chooses the least of the least. I would like to introduce you now to the four key characters of this story. They are so far down the pecking order they don't even have names – in fact, they were lepers; outcasts, they were sitting at the city gate. They were cast out; they didn't get to live with everybody else in the safety inside the city walls. The leper colony was on the outside of the wall – outside the protection of the city. If there were a social register in Samaria, these men would be so far down the bottom they wouldn't even make it on the list because as far as the people inside the safety of the city were concerned, these men didn't even belong. They are at the complete opposite end of the social scale to the King. Now there were four leprous men outside the city gate who said to one another, ‘Why should we sit here until we die? If we say, ‘Let us enter the city,' the famine is in the city and we shall die there, but if we sit here we will die here too, therefore let us desert to the Aramean camp. If they spare our lives we shall live and if they kill us we shall but die.' (2 Kings 7:3, 4). Now it turns out that these four nobodies ask the very best question they could have ask – "Why should we sit here until we die?" And the very next verse; verse 5 of Second Kings chapter 7 – it says: So they arose at twilight to go to the Aramean camp. Imagine you and I are a couple of those lepers and we have thought it through and it's logical. Our hunger tells us so. We know that if we sit here much longer, we are going to die – we can't go back because they are dying in there so we get up and we start that long walk to the Aramean camp. How do you feel – jubilant, excited? I don't think so. We feel sick in the stomach – we have weighed up our chances and they are slim – five percent, ten percent at best. Every fibre in our being want to stay put, to preserve our lives for just a few more hours; a few more days maybe. It's such a long walk to that camp – a kilometre, two, three – out to the Aramean camp, across the open ground; the no-man's land. But then… then we arrive at the Aramean camp and something strange is going on. Have a listen, in: So they arose at twilight to go to the Aramean camp but when they came to the edge of the Aramean camp there was no one there at all, for the Lord had caused the Aramean Army to hear a sound of chariots and of horses – the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, ‘Oh, the King of Israel has hired the kings of the Hitites and the kings of the Egyptians to fight against us,' so they fled away in the twilight and abandoned their tents, their horses, their donkeys, leaving their camp, just as it was and they fled for their lives. When these leprous men had come to the edge of the camp, they went into a tent, ate and drank and carried off silver and gold and clothing and went and hid them, then they came back and entered another tent and carried off things from it and went on and hid them. (2 Kings 7:5-8) Can you imagine? We wander across, we bump into the camp, we go, "Hang on, where is everyone?" I stick my head into this tent, it's full of stuff but there is no one there. You stick your head in that tent, same thing. What's going on? We wander around tent to tent and God's done this amazing miracle. And of course, what happens is exactly what the prophet Elisha prophesied. God's done this miracle – eventually all the people come out, the camp is full of food and bounty so they take it back and they use it and eat it and drink it and just like God said, there's abundant food – there's plenty. I love this story! God is just such an amazing God; He does an amazing miracle. And you know, when the message gets back to the King, he doesn't even believe that it's happened. He goes, "No, no, it's a plot. It's a trap" and he sends scouts out to find out. See, so often when God does a miracle no one else wants to believe it – no one wants to show any faith that God has done this miracle but God did a miracle because God is a faithful God. He spoke His Word to these people through the prophet Elisha. He said, ‘I'm going to bless you,' and everybody was blessed, everybody that is, except for the Captain of the Guard, because the King had appointed this Captain on whose hand he leaned to have charge of the gate and when all that food was there, the people trampled him to death in the gate just as the Man of God had said when the King came down to him: For when the Man of God had said to the King, ‘Two measures of barley shall be sold for a shekel and a measure of choice meal for a shekel about this time tomorrow in the gate of Samaria,' that Captain had answered the Man of God, ‘Even if the Lord were to make windows in the sky could such a thing happen.' And Elisha had answered, ‘You will see it with your own eyes but you will not eat from it.' It did indeed happen to him – the people trampled him to death at the gate.' (2 Kings 7:17-20). Unravelling The Story Of Faith  Well, let's stop and go back to this story of Israel and the siege in Samaria and the great miracle that God does, for a moment. Israel is under siege; the King has lost hope; mothers were eating their children; these lepers; these four lowly outcasts, who were the only ones to step out into the unknown, even they acted out of necessity instead of faith. They sat at this gate under siege and they said to themselves, "Why should we just stay here and die? We can't go back – they are all dying in there. We can't stay here! Well, the only option is to see if we can convince the Aramean Army to spare us." So off they go only to discover that God has already done this mighty miracle and the Aramean camp lies empty and ready to be plundered. These people Israel, who profess to believe in God showed not a single ounce of faith – none, zip, nada. That's it in a nut shell. You might say, ‘Berni, how can this be a story of faith? What's it doing in a series of radio programs called, Having Faith that Moves Mountains? It has nothing to do with faith.' They are all good questions and my answer is this: it is precisely because not a single mustard seed of faith is to be found in this story, that I have included it. Not one person showed any faith… not one, except the prophet Elisha – the man who stood his ground and spoke the Word of God to a King who was ready to kill him – the one man who trusted in God. Did Elisha have any idea how this impossible Word from God was to be fulfilled? Well, we don't find that out but even if he did, what a mighty amount of faith it would have taken to believe. This particular prophesy to the King didn't give Elisha a whole bunch of wriggle room, did it? It was very specific with a twenty-four-hour fuse on it and if God didn't show up, it was going to blow up in Elisha's face. Yet none of the others in this story showed any faith and here's why I've included it in this series about faith: because it demonstrates very clearly that God doesn't depend on us to do His will. He isn't sitting around waiting in heaven scratching His head, wringing His hands, sweating on you and me to deliver. He is not sitting there looking at me saying, "Oh, no, Berni's going to blow it again. What am I going to do? How am I going to solve this dilemma without Berni?" We may laugh, but don't we start getting a crazy notion that God's eternal plan for this cosmos hinges on the strength of our faith? Well, get this; let it sink into your heart: this story is about the faithfulness of God, not the faith of men. This story tells us about a God who is worthy of our faith – it tells us that what God says and what God does are one and the same thing, however impossible things may seem. God has a plan and He tells us about that plan through His Word. Read any story about any character whom you would choose to name in the Bible, even the story about four hapless lepers with no names and you will discover a faithful God in that story. The whole point of this story is that when God speaks, you and I can take Him at His Word. He never, ever departs from His Word. Let me say that again: When God speaks you and I can take Him at His Word. He is the one person who always delivers on His promises. He always does! So I can open my Bible and believe that what it says about who God is and what His plans are and who I am in Christ and how He is calling me to respond, I can believe that He means those things for me and that He will never, ever fail me. If we are going to talk about faith, then let us not begin to conceive of faith as some inanimate object. It's not just faith that moves mountains – it's faith in God; the God who has the power and the desire to move our mountains – that's what moves mountains. Let me ask you something – who benefitted from this miracle in this story? Well, the lepers did – they showed no apparent faith, but they did step out. They walked into a miracle – they kind of stumbled in on it rather than believing for it. The King benefitted – he was this hopeless leader, whichever way you look at him. He was going to shoot the messenger, the prophet, but he didn't. He neither heeded the Word of God nor believed it. He didn't even believe when he was told of what had happened and yet the King benefitted from the miracle. Isn't that amazing? Elisha benefitted from the miracle – not specifically – not in any special way that we discover but only that he was part of Israel in that city of Samaria that once was under siege and starving and now had an abundance of everything. The whole of Israel benefitted from the miracle, including the women who had eaten their son, presumably. They all benefitted – no particular faith to be found there so far as we can tell – but the one man who did not was the Captain of the Guard because he defied God; he hurled unbelief in God's face. It's a dangerous thing to do. It seems to me, the thing that we learn from this story is this: that even in the direst of circumstances; amidst the most impossible of people, God remains the God of blessing. Our failures will not bring God undone. His plans do not depend on us – they won't be thwarted by us. And sometimes… sometimes all we need is to step out and to walk into them… to step out and walk down the path that God has kind of pointed us on and bump into the miracles, like those lepers. Can I ask you this? God blessed a whole nation where only one man showed faith, how much more then, will we see the blessings of God when we hear God's Word and believe in Him? I want to ask you something today. What is the one thing that somehow you can't quite seem to believe God for – the miracle, the breakthrough, the healing – whatever it is? What if instead of imaging somehow, that it all depends on you and your faith and you being perfect and good, you just abandon it to God? What if instead of staying here in this place and dying, you just head off across no-man's land, like those lepers did? Sure, it's going to be scary! Sure, there are going to be times when you wonder, "What's God doing? What's the plan?" We don't deal well with ambiguity; we don't deal well with uncertainty. We want to see it all, we want to know it all, but the whole point of the way that God has set the universe up is that we need to navigate it by faith in Him. What if we just stepped out and walked into His miracles?

At our last gathering at The Table, we saw how great our God is when we understood that His Throne is not in Heaven, but that Heaven is His Throne, with the earth as the stool for His feet. Consequently, we saw the infinite scope of The Kingdom of our Father. We saw that all of the greatness and all the authority of The Kingdom of God are vested in The Name of our Lord Jesus. We also saw that the great love which our Father loved us with is revealed tangibly in The Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus delivers to us here on the earth the practical benefits of the love of God. Amongst other manifestations of the love of our Father, we saw that in The Name of Jesus, we are absolutely immunized from all toxins and from the venoms of serpents and scorpions. In other words, in The Name of Jesus, no poison from external sources — no airborne diseases, no water-borne diseases, no venom from animals like mosquitoes, snakes, scorpions, and all, can in any way hurt us. Our Lord Jesus said this to us in Mark 16:18 and Luke 10:19. However, we do not deliberately expose ourselves to poisonous substances or venomous animals in order that God may prove Himself: such thinking is to have fallen into the Tempter's snare. The Name of Jesus trumps every sickness and every disease, and He keeps physical death on hold until God's eternal purpose summed up in His Son is accomplished in, and through us in our mortal bodies. Furthermore, we understood that our Lord Christ was born again by His Father when God raised Him from the dead and brought Him out of hell. And we saw His Father subsequently enthrone Him as His King on Mount Zion. We concluded our meal by seeing that our Lord Christ is the great King ruling on the earth from the throne of His father David, in Mount Zion. Today, our main dish is served from the words of our Lord Jesus taken from Matthew 5:14: Mat 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. We will note the following in these two sentences: 1. Our Lord Jesus was speaking to His disciples. 2. He said to His disciples that they are the light of the world. 3. He spoke to His disciples about a city situated on a hill, which cannot but be visible to all. Our Lord Jesus would subsequently expound these words to His Apostle in Revelation chapters 21 and 22. We will begin with chapter 21 and verses 9–11: Rev 21:9–11 (9) And one of the seven angels who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife. (10) And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (11) having the glory of God. And its light was like a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. May you be nourished with the bread of life as you continue to listen, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-table-with-bro-joshua/message

The Faction Election War Won (29) David Eells - 3/14/21 (Audio) The Lion of Judah Triumphs - Trump Anointed Four More Years Timothy Dixon - 01/24/21 (David’s Notes in Red)   In this dream I saw the capitol building and the steps that went down from it were really long. There was a patio leading out to the steps of the capitol and two pinnacles on each side of the steps. Out of the doors of the capital came a Lion and this Lion ran out cross the patio. It ran out on top of one of the pinnacles and stood and threw its chest out and raised its head. It looked so majestic and noble. It roared with a really loud roar. (I think the Lion of Judah is announcing that the capitol is His and He will do what He likes with it, including install His King over it to rule. And He used His bride of Zion to intercede to bring this to pass. Joel 3:16-17, And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but Jehovah will be a refuge unto his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel. 17 So shall ye know that I am Jehovah your God, dwelling in Zion my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.) I saw, from the front, seven men that come out and started walking across the patio. These men looked like some kind of rabbis or priests. I knew that these seven men were from the tribe of Judah of Israel and each one of them had a shofar; a ram's horn. (There are seven churches, seven trumpets and seven years of tribulation. (Is the Lord anouncing the soon coming of tribulation?  Rev. 1:20, the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks are seven churches. Rev. 8:6, And the seven angels that had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. As they walked out, the Lion was standing on that pinnacle and each one separated themselves like maybe eight or nine feet apart. I knew that they were exactly the same distance apart as they sprawled out and one by one. They each blew their horns, in turn, until all had blown the seven horns. (The seven years of tribulation and the seven trumpets each have a set time period by the Lord in which they will occur. Joshua 6:1-5, Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. 2 And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor. [Our land is full of usurpers which our Lion and King will conquer.]  3 And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams horns before the ark: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him. [And we through our prayers and warfare will conquer the first city of our promised land given to us by the Lion, Washington DC.] Then I looked out, and in the front of the capitol, was a sea of people just as far back as you could look towards the George Washington monument. There were so many people way beyond what I could see, all the way down to where that reflecting pool is. (The people are waking up and reflecting on what the Lord is revealing to them about the DS and what’s been wrong with the country and their own lives. And the usurpers of our Land and Christianity are being defeated.) Then I saw the Washington monument and there was a door in the bottom of it. Out of that door came President Trump and he walked up through the crowd of the people and the people just went crazy. They started lifting up their hands and praising and magnifying God and you could hear them all of them saying, “Lord I thank you for your mercy! I thank you for four more years!” (A great revival is about to explode among God’s people who have lost hope but now it will be revealed to them that God used this all to drain the swamp.) As President Trump walked up towards the front steps of the capitol building, there was a man that came out from the capitol. It was like he was hidden from people or invisible. He looked like Moses or Elijah. You couldn't see him at first but when he came out, he manifested himself for all to see and he had a staff in his hand. When he walked out with the staff, he remained silent as the seven other priests or rabbi’s from Judah screamed with a loud voice saying, “The Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed!” (I believe this man with the staff represents the return of Jesus in His Man-child reformer ministers. He will epiphany or shine forth through them and be manifested to God’s elect at the beginning of the seven year tribulation period. This also reminds me of the Trump / Man-child parallel that we’ve been shown in dreams was happening at the same time. Daniel was promoted over Babylon when Cyrus as a type of P. Trump's army was coming through the gates and now the first city was falling to Trump as Cyrus. Rev 5:5  and one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion that is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath overcome to open the book and the seven seals thereof. The word “hath overcome” here is “hath prevailed” in Timothy’s translation the KJV, and it means the same thing. “The Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed!” Then the man with the staff was now standing at the bottom of the steps. He gave a white mule to President Trump. (Trump is now head over all the people; the donkeys and the horses. A male donkey and a female horse bring forth a mule, which is a hybrid of two types of people, the democrat donkeys and those who are bigger, faster, wiser, and better looking LOL. White represents that their flesh will be obedient servants unto Trump.) As they were standing there, all of a sudden, a great storm, like a violent hurricane, appeared and out of the hurricane came a whirlwind that went out and touched down on top of the patio of the capitol and it started spinning.  Then another man came forth out of the whirlwind (Elijah was taken to heaven in a whirlwind and was returning to anoint the King. This also represents prophecies that have been spoken coming to pass.) and walked down to the front. He had a horn of anointing oil in his hand and he anointed President Trump. As he poured the oil on top of his head, the man with the staff (the Man-child) and the man that come out of the whirlwind both said to President Trump, “I anoint you king. I anoint you President of the United States for four more years.” (LOL, you cant make this stuff up folks.) After this I looked over to the right and there was like an alley over to my right and I looked and I saw two donkeys with two people sitting on them. One was a man and the other was a woman. (This is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They are both donkey democrats who have usurped the authority over the Land.)  Both the man in the whirlwind and the man with the staff announced, “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord! God is fixing to work wonders!” Then the man with the staff jabbed his staff down on the ground on the bottom step of the capitol and, when he did, the man that had come out of the whirlwind and had anointed President Trump, went back up inside the whirlwind.  Immediately after this, I looked back over to my right and the two donkeys fell dead right there in the streets (Meaning they no longer support Biden and Kamala), and the man that was sitting on one of the donkeys grabbed his chest and fell dead with a heart attack. (The Democratic party is going to be dead when the people find out that they were organized crime and perversion. God is exposing all their evil and wickedness and the people are waking up and will no longer stand for it. God will judge Joe Biden’s clone or double.)  Then the woman, who had been sitting on the other donkey, ran inside the capitol building. She had daggers like some kind of throw knives that were hidden; you couldn't see them. Nobody in the public could see them. She was wearing a purple dress and she started running towards the capitol building. When she got inside the capitol she was pulling out those daggers from behind her back and just throwing them at all the senate and house politicians; just throwing them and throwing them. (God’s judgment is about to expose Kamala Harris for the traitor and back-stabber that she really is and use her in shifting the blame on the rest of the traitors. Like the Jehoshaphat war they will divide against one another shifting the blame and all will be known and destroyed.)  She walked up to Nancy Pelosi who was standing at that little desk or podium. The woman took one of her daggers and jabbed it down into Nancy’s hand and pinned it to the podium. After this, the tornado with the man in it, blew inside of the capitol. “Oh thank you Jesus!” and when it blew inside the capitol, there was such a chaotic pressure. It was like one of these news reports you see on TV where a tornado had struck a residential area and just tore it all to pieces. That's how the inside of the capitol building looked. (The storm is upon us. Trump, who was anointed by the prophecies, and the patriot’s too bring a storm of Judgment from God.) After the man in the whirlwind / tornado (Representing prophecies that have been spoken, now coming to pass)  blew inside and devastated the capitol / congressional building, it went out the doors and moved on throughout the rest of the land. It was just traveling like a tornado does and it blew through the rest of the land (This will bring down false leadership all over the country.) as the man with the staff, who had manifested himself to the people, started walking on foot, throughout the land, following the man in the whirlwind / tornado. (As riots and unrest will follow the shake-up in DC and the country, the Man-child ministry will also be going throughout the land and the world fulfilling prophecies simultaneously at the beginning of the tribulation period.) I went back inside the capitol and so many people were gone. Nancy, wasn't there any more. Schumer and so many other people weren't there any more; they were gone. (The swamp will be totally drained soon.) Then I looked around and was amazed because there was a small, little group of people that remained. They had been untouched, unscathed by the storm. Their ties weren't even messed up; their hair was not even blown, not one piece out of place. They were kept through this storm. Then woke up. (God will spare a remnant in government and His first fruits Man-child and Bride will be preserved through the judgement that’s coming. Rom. 11: 2-5, God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel: 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have left for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.) It was just such a powerful dream that when I woke up I was sick in my stomach and felt weak; just sick, just plumb shook at what i’d seen. I pray you all are blessed by this revelation. You can interpret it as you will. I believe God has his eye on the devil. Satan will not have this country, not now. God's gonna move! It's gonna be a great biblical power! A power of God that no one can stop! May the Lord bless you and keep you. I pray for all our leaders. I pray for everyone. I pray for all that is in our country. I pray for everyone across the world because God is fixing to move! He’s fixing to send great revival across this land!   The Whirlwind Has Begun and the Red Tide - Trump Prevails! Rose Dixon (Timothy Dixon's wife) - 8/10/21 (David’s Notes in Red) I just want to share a dream that I had early this morning 8/10/21. I dreamed that a whirlwind had hit America and when I woke up the Lord spoke these words to me, “The whirlwind has begun and the Red Tide.” When I woke up, I didn’t realize what the Red Tide was, so I texted a lady and my husband and asked him what the Red Tide meant because I'm not too familiar with things such as that. (President Trump and others have referred to the ‘Great Awakening and the MAGA movement as the Red Wave since the Republican Party’s color is red. The Lord refers to the judgment of the Red Sea in several different scenarios in the Bible where He set His people free from bondage to their enemies.) I believe that this whirlwind the Lord showed me in this dream, is about the whirlwind that's gonna hit the capitol and I pray that the Lord has mercy. I pray Lord has His way in this situation. America needs revival. America needs to get back to serving God and I believe that this is the time we don't need to let the enemy have a foothold in America. We need to stand with all we got. MY GLORY WILL FILL THE EARTH THIS YEAR!!!” I believe the Lord wanted me to release this to you to encourage you, and that our best days are ahead of us! I believe the Glory we will see, to the degree we will see it, has never been seen before by anybody. The greatest harvest of souls will also come!!! The Church's greatest days are at the doorstep at God's timing. Outstanding mind-blowing miracles will be before us. God will use vessels of honor not dishonor to carry His Glory throughout the earth!!! Angels will be very prevalent among His people. Jesus is the Commander of His Angel Army!  "I AM A JUST GOD” - Rick Sergent, 02/06/21 - Word of the Lord: "I AM THE GOD OF LOVE, BUT I AM ALSO THE GOD OF JUSTICE. I AM NOT ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER! FOR ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER WOULD NOT BE ME! FOR I AM BOTH OF THESE WRAPPED UP IN ONE! I AM THAT I AM SAYS THE SPIRIT OF GOD. I AM THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH. I AM THE LION THIS NATION HAS NOT KNOWN, IN THESE LATTER YEARS, BUT I THE LORD, HAVE NOT ROARED YET! FOR WHEN I ROAR, THINGS WILL SHAKE! WHEN I ROAR THINGS WILL BE DISPLACED! WHEN I ROAR THINGS WILL CHANGE! WHEN I ROAR IT WILL BE A SIGN UNTO THIS NATION. FOR I AM THE GOD OF JUSTICE. WHEN I EXECUTE JUSTICE, THIS NATION WILL NOT FORGET. FOR I WILL BRING SIGNS BEFORE YOU AND MY JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL! AFTER MY JUSTICE, MY GLORY WILL COME AND FILL THIS NATION TO OVERFLOWING AND IT WILL GO ABROAD WORLDWIDE. PEOPLE OF THE WORLD WILL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD OF THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH! GREAT JOY WILL COME TO MY PEOPLE! THEY WILL CELEBRATE AND DANCE IN THE STREETS WHEN THEY HEAR THE GOOD NEWS SAYS THE SPIRIT OF GOD! (In parallel to this celebration of the political revival, We just received a dream of great celebration below when the wicked leadership in the Church is replaced by the reformers.) BE AT PEACE, MY PEOPLE! YOUR PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION. HAVE NOT COME TO NAUGHT! YOUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN BOTTLED UP AND PRESERVED. IT IS THE PRAYERS & REPENTANCE OF MY PEOPLE, THAT I WILL BRING JUSTICE SAYS THE SPIRIT OF GOD!”   Evil Leadership is Replaced by the Reformers and God’s People Celebrate Joe Britts - 3/12/21 (David’s notes in red) The Lord then gave me a short dream.  I saw all of the UBM'ers in a room; they are all excited and full of joy. I recognized Michael and Julie. Some of them in the USA were putting their finger against their pc screen. I then put my finger from the other side of the earth in SA on my pc screen. Allmost like a high five, as a form of agreement or to share their excitement. End of dream. I received by faith at random for this dream: Eze 17:16 (in context: 15-24) Eze 17:15-19  But he (The apostate leadership of God’s people including the faction) rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? (All of the apostate leadership dont have faith and trust in their own works.  Jer 17:5  Thus saith Jehovah: Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from Jehovah.)   Shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?  16  As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. (The apostate leadership deceiving Gods people is destroyed by Babylon) 17  Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons.  18  For he hath despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet hath done all these things; he shall not escape.  19  Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, I will even bring it upon his own head. 20  And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me. (The plague of Babylons vaccines will take many down. Rioters also may burn churches again.) 21  And all his fugitives in all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward every wind: and ye shall know that I, Jehovah, have spoken it.   22  Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also take of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it upon a high and lofty mountain:  (The reformer Man-child leadership takes their place)  23  in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all birds of every wing; in the shade of the branches thereof shall they dwell.  24  And all the trees of the field shall know that I, Jehovah, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I, Jehovah, have spoken and have done it.   Red Sea Judgment on DS Coming  Ken Dewey - 03/11/21 (David’s Notes in Red)   FIRE AND BRIMSTONE AND CHOKING WATER: This morning the Lord woke me up at 3:33 am and said get up and write a Word for me.  Here is what He said: "I AM THAT I AM have waited until they are well in OVER THEIR HEAD and there is NO TURNING BACK.  They cannot now again harden their hearts to lie their way out.  They have ridden right into the Storm and NOW IT IS TOO LATE.  They cannot turn back! See them FALL AND CHOKING ON THEIR OWN BLOOD WATER.  Watch them in the "Midst of the Sea!” Oh how the Flood engulfs them, Oh how horrible is their Fall! The whole World knows just how many INNOCENT ONES they have KILLED!  The whole World knows their SINFUL HEARTS that want to sin the sin of Sodom!   Oh How great the Fall Headlong into the Sea to Choke on their own Decisions.  Now they will be engulfed and trapped by their own FORMULAS OF DEATH. That which they have put on and FORCED UPON OTHERS is now FORCED UPON THEM! The World today is still looking to prove the first Red Sea event. They search beneath the waters of destruction, hoping to find [a chariot wheel] to prove the Army of Egypt died in the Red Sea. Now the World will SEE ALL and even in the future they will be lost under their own Red Sea, NEVER TO RISE AGAIN! Oh their awful deeds. Oh their wicked hearts indeed! Now ALL SEE CLEARLY just exactly as they all are, Oh, how many know ALL. Now those who know will WATCH THEM CHOKE on the blood crying from the ground, the Blood of them they killed will be their Red Sea Water. Even as I Struck the Sodomites blind at the door, now see I have Stricken them Blind.  Now see them Search in vain for the entrance door, only to no avail!  Now watch the Fire and Brimstone Fall upon them, and even today men still search to find Sodom and Gomorrah, but to no avail for it is covered over and seen no more.  Only their Folly is in truth recorded. Did I not say:  You will watch with your own eyes the Wicked perish?  Yes, Standby now and see the Sodomites burn, but not in their lust but in their Brimstone Fire! Stand Ye well Back and don't look back.  FLEE AWAY FROM SODOM for only Salt will be left of any who look back! I AM THAT I AM will once again reveal my mighty hand and because I do many will see yet and many will yet know me as their Lord and King!  There will begin again a new Beginning. I AM.” (The greatest revival will come forth as the Lord in His man-child reformers does the signs and wonders to bring restoration to the people.) Then He added, " Choking Water of Destruction will rush in and shaking land, Fire Brimstone will burn them.  Water cannot quench the Fire, till all perish.  I have waited long enough, now all see clearly My mighty hand!” Supporting scripture: Exodus 8:32, And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go. Genesis 4:8-12, And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. Genesis 19:11, And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. Luke 17:29, But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Exodus 14:3-4, For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. 4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so. Psalm 91:7-8, A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. I have posted this Word in Obedience to my Lord, and I have written it Exactly as I heard Him speak it to me.  Desert Prophet   Time for the Red Sea Judgment and Revival Marie Kelton - 03/12/21 (David’s Notes in Red) During the evening prayer meeting, on 3-12-21, I had a vision of really dark storm clouds and below the clouds was field with tall brown grass. I knew by looking at the storm clouds that a tornado was about to form from it. (This whirlwind/ tornado judgment is imminent. It will destroy the DS capitol seat of government. The tall brown field represents the harvest being ready and a great revival resulting.) A while after that, The Lord gave me an open vision of him standing in linen garments, I couldn't see his face. Jesus was holding a huge hourglass with one hand on the top of it, the other hand on the bottom of the it. The hourglass had red sand in it, He flipped it and the sand started pouring through the hourglass. I saw this multiple times. (The time has come for the modern-day Red Sea judgment to begin! God’s people are finally going to be free to worship Him in the wilderness having escaped Egypt and the Babylonish beast system.)   John Roberts Repents - The Tables Are Turned Timothy Dixon- 02/02/21 (David’s Notes in Red) We're in a time where the church and Christians are fixing to witness the greatest outpouring of the holy ghost; the greatest outpouring and shaking that the world's ever witnessed with our own eyes. And then I believe, with all my heart, that, then Jesus is coming. (As He once came as the first New Testament Man-child to heal and deliver and provide for His people in the Tribulation.) I had laid down in the wee hours of the morning. I had drove through the night and I was praying and, as I was praying, I fell into some kind of trance. I was not asleep. I was awake but yet I was dreaming. I know that sounds crazy, but I was awake somehow but subconsciously I was in some kind of deep sleep. I believe Daniel called them night visions.  I dreamed I saw the Statue of Liberty and I'd walked up to where she stood and the Statue of Liberty was on her knees and one of her hands was on her knees. She was squatting and bowing her head and the flame in the torch that she held was just barely flickering; it had almost gone out. (Freedom was almost extinguished) Then I saw the Lord standing by the Statue of Liberty. He said to me, “You're witnessing a prophecy that was prophesied 70 years ago. Your witness had come to pass.” There were a lot of people all around the Liberty. (I believe he’s referring to A.A. Allen's vision in the 1950’s of the Statue of Liberty. Here is the link to it on the UBM website: https://www.ubm1.org/?page=first Vision to Evangelist A.A. Allen in the 1950s - UBM [David Eells] The Allen I Knew Paul J. Cunningham, D.D. I have been asked by some, to "set the record straight" concerning A. A. Allen, by writing about the man I personally knew. Because of the confusion, and the continual attacks on this man who has been dead for 30 years, (as though he were such a "force" that certain parties must discredit him), I have agreed to do so. www.ubm1.org   Then the dream scene changed and it's like I was watching some kind of movie. I could see through the Lord’s eyes. I could move around but yet I wasn't there. As I was seeing through the Lord’s eyes, we were walking inside an old building. We were instantly at the bedside of Supreme Court Justice, John Roberts. We watched him as he slept. Through the eyes of Jesus I saw what John Roberts was dreaming. I saw what he was thinking in in his dreams. Everything looked so evil. God then visited Justice Roberts in his dream and took him up to heaven and he was standing before the Lord. I could hear John Roberts thoughts as he said to himself, “I've been a judge in the highest courts in the land and now I'm being judged.” And the Lord spoke to him and said, ”Hold up your hands!” and Roberts held up his hands as if they were dripping with something. And when he looked at them, there was blood dripping off his hands. (John Roberts got mixed up with Jeffery Epstien through the adoption of his two children. I’ve heard of a whistle blower interview that said, they took John Roberts to Epstine Island and forced him at gunpoint to commit sataninc ritual abuse and sacrifice of children and have been blackmailing him ever since to rule in favor of the DS agendas.) Then Justice Roberts woke up from his dream, he went inside this large building; into a large room. When he got in there, Justice Amy Coney-Barrett was sitting at a big table. Justice Roberts was wrestling in his mind with the dream the Lord had given him. He looked at Justice Amy Coney-Barrett and he was shaking his head and there with such emotion of what he had just went through in his dream from the Lord. (It reminded me of how pilate’s wife suffered the things in a dream from the Lord and told pilot to have nothing to do with this just man (Jesus). So Pilate washed his hands before they crucified Jesus.) John Roberts looked at Amy Coney-Barrett and said, “Will you help me?” and she jumped up like she was waiting on him to say that and said, “Yes. Yes I will!” So they grabbed that big table that they were at and they turned it.  And as they turned that table, something began happening in the atmosphere all around. Everything began to shake under the supernatural presence of God that was just unreal! (This is a play on words. God is going to ’turn the tables ‘ on the DS and it looks like He will use John Roberts to do it as well as others.) Then afterward, Justice Roberts had a little envelope in his hand. He walked outside through a little hallway and out on the side of this building was a side door that a man was standing beside.  (What he described below was that this man was a high level Marine or military officer.)  He had been waiting there for some time. Roberts handed the envelope to the man and said, “This will change everything.” (Justice Roberts will repent and begin to work with Trump and the patriots to bring others to justice in some form or fashion. Maybe he will cut a deal and confess to his crimes and begin to turn in those higher up than himself. Trump may allow him and others to continue in the Supreme Court to return constitutional law to the Courts and the country?) I noticed that the officer was dressed in a real nice blue uniform and his shoes were really shiny. On top of his shoulders he had big, long gold or brass shoulder lapels. He took the envelope from Roberts and went to another building with it.  Inside the other building there was four other people military officers that looked almost just like him dressed a little different but they also had the gold or brass shoulder lapels on their shoulders as well. They started copying the papers from John Roberts and began handing them out to between 500 and a 1000 people in the building. After the papers were handed out, I saw some kind of law enforcement agency or something, like the FBI, had uncovered a ring of child traffickers that had ties with political people in the state of New York and they uncovered them. Then I saw several people from the state of Pennsylvania. They were arrested. (Their time is coming! There's nothing anybody can do to change the power of the Word of the Lord.) I saw these people arrested because of the children. The law enforcement agency busted some kind of ring. I saw several high officials in the state of Pennsylvania that were arrested. Then it went out through different other states and there were arrests out West. I saw them handcuffed and they were being carried off. Then I saw a group of people that had been blackmailed. Two individuals who, very clearly, had been blackmailed. They had been blackmailed by some very very harsh blackmailers who threatened their lives.  I saw this one person that was in Georgia that had been blackmailed to commit election fraud. They had been paid by these criminal people and it wasn’t in some of these people's heart, but they'd been blackmailed up to the highest levels. (Everything is being and will continue to be exposed. Arrests will continue until the swamp is drained. The Lord will see to it.) Then after this, I looked out through various cities across America and people started burning again and rioting and all kinds of just chaos, just major chaos, was going on in different cities much like what we've already seen. I saw the National Guard having to go out and help police in different situations again. (We haven’t seen the end of civil unrest, rioting and looting. It will get worse even as a great revival will be sweeping the elect in the church.) Then the scene changed and I was standing with the Lord. He took my hand and we were back at the Statue of Liberty. I began to look out at the people and the people around Liberty started lifting her up, like under her elbows and grabbing her legs, helping her. All these people working together, and she began to stand up again from off her knees. And the Lord spoke to me and told me, “I AM the Alpha. I AM the Omega. I AM the first and I AM the last. I AM He that was dead but behold I’m alive forevermore! America will rise! There will be a shaking across this world of revival!” Then, as He grabbed my hand, I had a vision in the dream of Air Force One picking up President Trump. Then I woke up. This isn't an event of the past, this is the future that's coming! Pray for our leaders. God does not need anything nor man’s help in the natural. God can work miracles on his own! It's time that us Christians stand together and believe in his Word and not believe in Baal god and the false prophets that speak in lying tongues that tell us all kind of other stuff that's against the Word of God!  Stand with me children. Stand with me saints. Stand with me America and pray for the best of our country. God's gonna move! It's beyond me. It’s beyond that I believe could make this happen. This is God! This is an Almighty God that is standing up and gonna move one more time and He’s gonna change things to where communism cannot take over our country; not now, in the Name of Jesus Christ!  What I saw in this dream was people beginning to stand up. They just stood up as one people, all over everywhere, and the Land of Liberty began to have Liberty again. This god of communism was stomped out and stopped. And the Lord caused these evil doers to be moved out of the way for a time. (This will be temporary during this time of great revival among God’s elect for the first 3 1/2 years of the tribulation period and then the Beast will make war on the saints again.)   Select Language Afrikaans Albanian Amharic Arabic Armenian Azerbaijani Basque Belarusian Bengali Bosnian Bulgarian Catalan Cebuano Chichewa Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Corsican Croatian Czech Danish Dutch Esperanto Estonian Filipino Finnish French Frisian Galician Georgian German Greek Gujarati Haitian Creole Hausa Hawaiian Hebrew Hindi Hmong Hungarian Icelandic Igbo Indonesian Irish Italian Japanese Javanese Kannada Kazakh Khmer Kinyarwanda Korean Kurdish (Kurmanji) Kyrgyz Lao Latin Latvian Lithuanian Luxembourgish Macedonian Malagasy Malay Malayalam Maltese Maori Marathi Mongolian Myanmar (Burmese) Nepali Norwegian Odia (Oriya) Pashto Persian Polish Portuguese Punjabi Romanian Russian Samoan Scots Gaelic Serbian Sesotho Shona Sindhi Sinhala Slovak Slovenian Somali Spanish Sundanese Swahili Swedish Tajik Tamil Tatar Telugu Thai Turkish Turkmen Ukrainian Urdu Uyghur Uzbek Vietnamese Welsh Xhosa Yiddish Yoruba Zulu Powered by Translate Printer-friendly version

John Baumgartner In Psalm 2, God reveals the history of every nation and people, the secret motives behind all human actions, and the final end of every person who will ever live. Humanity since Adam has tried to overthrow God’s Kingdom and set up our own. But God is not threatened by our rebellion. He has set up His Kingdom with Christ as His King for all eternity. He could crush every rebellion immediately but instead has chosen to make Christ a refuge for all rebel sinners who abandon their rebellious ways and come to Him.

Study Notes Ed Underwood  Zechariah The King Is Coming! “‘Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord who rules over all.” (Zechariah 4:6) The seventeen Books of Prophecy record the messages of the writing prophets (those whose messages are preserved in writing) God raised up to speak for Him following the ministries of the prophets Elijah and Elisha. The failings of the Divided Kingdom Era prompted God to speak to Israel in the north and Judah in the south. They continued to speak to God’s people for over 400 years, including the exile to Babylonia and the return to the Promise Land. (1 Kings 12-Esther) The prophets spoke for God to His people concerning the enforcement of terms of their covenant relationship with God. Each spoke to a specific generation of Israel or Judah to enforce the conditional covenant (Mosaic) in the context of the unconditional covenants flowing from the Abrahamic Covenant. Their message can be summed up in these sentences: You are mine! (Unconditional covenants, Romans 11:29). Walk with me and I will bless you. Walk away from me and I will call you back to myself through loving discipline (Conditional covenant, Romans 9-11). The Jews had been living in exile in Babylonia for 70 years. They had not been able to practice their formal worship as the Mosaic Law prescribed, because the Babylonians had destroyed their Temple and they had no authorized altar for sacrifices. They were forced to settle for private and public prayers while facing toward Jerusalem (Daniel 6:10). They gathered in synagogues to hear the Law read and worship God in exile. Imagine their joy when King Cyrus of Persia allowed them to return to their land in 538 B.C. The first wave of 50,000 Jewish pilgrims returned under the leadership of Zerubbabel. They enthusiastically rebuilt the brazen altar and resumed offering sacrifices, and laid the foundation for the reconstruction of the second Temple. They even celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles that first year. Envision their discouragement when Samaritan leaders with ties to the Persian authorities resisted their Temple construction. The former exiles felt threatened and unable to accomplish God’s first priority for the returning remnant—reestablish worship that glorifies Him. They went about their daily routine, and concentrated on rebuilding their lives—their businesses, their homes, and their farms—while ignoring their mandate to rebuild the Temple. Sixteen years later, God called Haggai and Zechariah to expose their misplaced priorities and challenge them to rebuild the Temple, because God had greater plans for them than they ever imagined. In 520 B.C. Zechariah encouraged the returning remnant to rebuild the Temple by inspiring hope in the discouraged community. His book, the “Revelation” of the Old Testament, persuaded the Jews to lift their eyes to see the larger purposes and plans of their God. The Lord who rules over all is at work for His people and is moving history toward the return of His King—first to save, and then to reign. “[Zechariah’s] book is the most Messianic, the most truly apocalyptic and eschatological, of al the writing of the Old Testament.” (Joyce G. Baldwin, “Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: An Introduction and Commentary, pp. 69-70) Zechariah’s message reminds discouraged believers of all generations that in spite of difficult circumstances, God’s all-encompassing power and unrelenting purpose cannot be resisted: Zechariah emphasizes the irresistible power of God: “The Lord of Hosts” (“Lord who rules over all,” NET) occurs 35 times. I. EIGHT VISIONS (1:1-6:8): The book opens with an introductory appeal to the people to repent and return to God unlike their fathers who rejected the warnings of the prophets (1:1-6). A few months later, Zechariah has a series of eight night visions, evidently in one troubled night. The first five are visions of comfort, and the last three are visions of judgment. The angel who speaks with him interprets the visions, but some of the symbols are not explained. Zechariah: Your King is coming! Live with confidence in His unseen power and unfulfilled promises. THE CROWNING OF JOSHUA (6:9-15): The crowning of Joshua (6:9-15) anticipates the coming of the Branch who will be King and Priest (the composite crown). III. FOUR MESSAGES (7-8): In response to a question about the continuation of the fasts (7:1-3), God gives Zechariah a series of four messages—a rebuke of empty ritualism, a reminder of past disobedience, the restoration and consolation of Israel, and the recovery of joy in the kingdom. God’s point is that it is more important how you live than how you fast (7:8-14). Rather than celebrating the fasts of the exile to commemorate their past failures, they should now commemorate the feasts to celebrate God’s blessing in the land. IV. TWO BURDENS: The first burden (9-11) primarily concerns the First Advent and rejection of Israel’s coming King. The second burden (12-14) primarily concerns the Second Advent of Christ and the acceptance of Israel’s King. The Jews of Jesus’ day had missed the distinction between these two imbedded events. Like all the prophecies concerning the coming career of Messiah-King, we know now that the prophet was describing two events that were blurred into one. This is the “telescopic” or “foreshortening” principle of understanding prophecy. The prophets are presenting two mountain peaks—the First and Second Coming of Messiah—but not the valley in between—the time of the Gentiles, the Church Age. With New Testament perspective, we see this foreshortening in Zechariah. 9:9 speaks of the 1 st st Advent, 9:10, the 2nd. 11:7-16 speaks of the 1 Advent, chapter 12, the 2nd. 13:7 st speaks of the 1 Advent, 13:8-9, the 2 . Peter describes this dynamic and our need to carefully divide the Scriptures: “Concerning this salvation, the prophets who predicted the grace that would come to you searched and investigated carefully. They probed into what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified beforehand about the sufferings appointed for Christ (1st Advent) and his subsequent glory (2nd Advent)” (1 Pet 1:10-11) ZECHARIAH AND YOU: Your King is coming! Evil happens, but God will eventually defeat evil. His power cannot be resisted and His purposes cannot be thwarted. He is moving history toward His end, despite human and Satanic opposition. Even though we live in times of darkness and discouragement, we should live with the unshakeable confidence in His presence, power, and promises. What is hard in your life right now? What difficult or discouraging assignment have you received from God? “‘Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord who rules over all.” (The Lord of Hosts to Zerubbabel, Zechariah 4:6) For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comprehension, because we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.” (Paul, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18) QUESTIONS: Where does it hurt? What don’t you understand? Take that hurt and that confusion and plant it into a garden of trust and hope. Don’t put your faith in circumstance; put your faith in the Rejected One who will be crowned in His Kingdom! nd

This is a prophetic hint that was given 500 years before God brought in HIS King: the King of kings, Jesus Christ. Jesus will rescue anyone who will bow to him as Lord. In a few verses later in that passage in Isaiah we will come upon another prophetic promise: He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; and gently leads those that have young (Isaiah 40:11). Revelation 6:12-17 Series: Just Conquer #22 # Introduction One of my greatest concerns with Postmillennialism—I'll even call it my bias against it, however it was that I came to have such a bias—is that the Postmillennial hope for the future, where the gospel conquers and brings about [a golden age in which Christian ethics prosper](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmillennialism), while confident and comprehensive, isn't quite cataclysmic enough to explain Bible language. When Scripture paints a picture of the last days, and of the coming of the day of the Lord in particular, I don't imagine a calm day on an ocean shore while the artist keeps pushing paint into the corners of the canvas. When Scripture paints, the ocean crashes onto to the easel, thrashes it to pieces, throws it fifty yards in three directions, and all the beach-goers are running for cover that they never make it to. I'm willing to have my bias corrected, but part of my bias comes from a jealousy for the power of the inspired words to hold their own. Chicken Little/Henny Penny was paranoid because of gravity's pull on an acorn and took it as a sign that the sky was falling, but when the prophets say that the sky vanished like a scroll whose holder lost his grip, that sounds cosmic and cataclysmic. It sounds terrifying. And as John saw his vision, it terrified the most powerful people on earth who ran for their lives like little girls. For that matter, if the scene of judgment in the sixth seal (6:12-17) begins to answer the cry of the martyred souls under God's altar in heaven in the fifth seal (6:9-11), then these dramatic, extensive events are a proportional response. The souls gave their lives for the Lamb. They cry to Him for justice, and He comes in such a way that men on earth would rather die than see His face. Now that I think about it, cataclysm itself may still be too calm of a word. The Lamb has opened five of the seven seals on the scroll through Revelation 6:11. The four horsemen rode out on earth to begin the havoc in verses 1-8, then the fifth seal turned the focus back to the heavenly throne room, as the Lamb heard the voices of the martyrs, and then told them that it wouldn't be long. In Revelation 6:12-17 John sees the sixth seal opened, and by order of magnitude the kings and bankers, the movie stars and factory workers, all who had rejected the Lamb, some of whom were even directly responsible for Christian-killing, begin to reckon with the one with whom they have to do. There are two parts to this paragraph, the creational cataclysm (verses 12-14) and the human fear and flight (verses 15-17) which is both completely understandable and completely futile. None will escape the Lamb's wrath. # Creational Cataclysm (verses 12-14) When we're reading prophetic, poetic, apocalyptic language (which, by the way, all of these genres are meant as different ways to give *understanding* not to cause confusion), it can be challenging to distinguish the symbols from the substance symbolized. In other words, there is reality behind the representation, and the interpreter's work is to identify what's what. The Bible uses metaphors and analogies, so we don't, for example, expect to see a knob coming out of Jesus' torso just because He said He was the door (see John 10:7). As we look at verses 12-14 note that there are numerous similes (comparisons of things using “like” or “as”), but there are not similes explaining similes, or similes within similes. The similes explain in what way the thing that is happening happened. Of the various attempts to symbolize all of these happenings or events, the typical approach is to take the sun and moon and stars as governmental leaders. But then why refer to governmental leaders in verse 15? If there was a transition explanation such as “the stars are the kings,” well, that would be different (as in Revelation 1:20 where the stars are identified as the angels of the churches). But in this paragraph we have heavenly *impersonal* rulers (see Genesis 1:14-18) and earthly persons as rulers and *both* are ruled by God. If the stars are merely symbols, why are the kings also not symbols? It's not just mixing metaphors, it's messed up interpretation. **When [the Lamb] opened the sixth seal, I saw, and there was a great earthquake.** Is this an actual earthquake? Why wouldn't it be? Doesn't there need to be a bias even to ask that? Perhaps, as we read, we would see clues that tell us that a “great earthquake” merely conveys the idea of upheaval. Okay, an upheaval of what? The burden of proof is on those who have some other explanation for “earthquake” than as the shaking of the earth's crust and tectonic plates. If it's shaking up government, why say it again in the following verses? The earth quakes at numerous key displays of God's arrival and judgment, in the Old Testament and also in the Apocalypse. Earthquakes make a statement. But if the earthquake is merely a symbol of some intangible event, I'm not buying it. Next, **the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became [red] as blood.** Here are two celestial phenomena. The sun, the central star providing light and heat in our solar system, is eclipsed. The metaphor of “as sackcloth of hair” refers to “a coarse coat made of black goat's hair and usually worn in time of mourning” (Osborne). The parallel with the other major light-giving source to those on earth, due to various changes in the atmosphere, and undoubtedly a result of the great earthquake, caused the moon to appear red “as blood.” The color red isn't named in the Greek text, but fits the comparison. It also fits with ancient prophecy. > The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. (Joel 2:31 ESV) If these heavenly bodies represent earthly leaders, what is the point of the black and the red? And why add similes to the symbols? And how are these leaders different than the stars? Speaking of which, **and the stars of the sky fell to earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale**. These are not shooting stars, but falling stars, and falling all the way to earth. What is figurative about that? The metaphor shows how easy the stars fall. Come winter time, if there are any figs on the tree, it's barely hanging on, like the last string of a second-grader's top tooth. The branches can't keep their grip against a gust of wind. This language also has history. > All the host of heaven shall rot away, > and the skies roll up like a scroll. > All their host shall fall, > as leaves fall from the vine, > like leaves falling from the fig tree. > (Isaiah 34:4 ESV) Whether or not the original audience looked to astronomy for guidance, until Copernicus, the movements of the planets meant something. God Himself said that He gave the sun, moon, and stars to govern days and seasons and years (Genesis 1). He also said that His promises were as certain until they passed away (Jeremiah 31:35-36). The Lord is causing that to happen before the eyes of the world. Though a fictional account, it reminds me of the following scene of Narnia's end: > “Even one shooting star is a fine thing to see; but these were dozens, and then scores, and then hundreds, till it was like silver rain: and it went on and on. And when it had gone on for some while, one or two of them began to think that there was another dark shape against the sky as well as the giant's. It was in a different place, right overhead, up in the very roof of the sky as you might call it. “Perhaps it is a cloud,” thought Edmund. At any rate, there were no stars there: just blackness. But all around, the downpour of stars went on. And then the starless patch began to grow, spreading further and further out from the center of the sky. And presently a quarter of the whole sky was black, and then a half, and at last the rain of shooting stars was going on only low down near the horizon. > “With a thrill of wonder (and there was some terror in it too) they all suddenly realized what was happening. The spreading blackness was not a cloud at all: it was simply emptiness. The black part of the sky was the part in which there were no stars left. All the stars were falling: Aslan had called them home.” (_The Last Battle_. 83-84) There's one more verse of cataclysms: then **the sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.** Imagine that the sky was being held open, and that it ripped apart in the middle. The two pieces would rapidly roll up toward each edge, as if each end was trying to get back to its resting position. It was only held open by God's hands. As for the mountains, the great earthquake has begun to level them, and as they fall into the sea, and as the seas themselves are stirred up, the islands are covered and moved. # Frightened Flight (verses 15-17) Humans have a built in response mechanism often referred to as fight or flight. We either face something difficult or dangerous by putting up our dukes or by putting on our running shoes. But here is no fight. Also, there is an interesting awareness of why these things are happening. All sorts of classes of earth-dwellers are mentioned. **Kings** are the national or tribal heads of state. The **great ones** are likely the second level officials, cabinet members, counselors of the king. The **generals** are military leaders (the Greek word contains the idea of overseeing a thousand men), not just the soldiers, though by implication the soldiers follow their generals. The **rich** and the **powerful** own the wealth and buy what they want with it. Then it's **everyone**, the last class, both **slave and free**. This is all of society. None are unaffected by the cataclysmic ruin. **They hid themselves in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.** This is irrational. Not even the mountains can be trusted, they are in process of being removed. More drives the flight than protection from the earthly dangers, they fear the Lamb's wrath. They are **calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.”** They are right to fear the holy one. They are wrong to think that physical death will spare them, and have a misplaced hope to avoid dealing with the King (on the throne) and His King (anointed by the LORD in Psalm 2:6-9). The one sitting on His throne started this vision in chapter 4. The Lamb is His Son and the only one worthy to bring about the recompense as seen in chapter 5. The earth-dwellers know, by conscience, that the cataclysms mean that they are guilty, and they are aware that they will give an account. They don't want to. More than the first guilty pair who hid in the garden, mankind will do whatever to avoid the wrath, the anger, of the Lamb. They say, **“for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”** This is the day of the Lord, the day of reckoning. Either God's wrath is satisfied by the Lamb slain, through the ransom of His blood, or God's wrath will bring about blood. **Who can stand?** This rhetorical question caps the cataclysmic point. How can anyone escape the worthy Seal-breaker? It's as if they realize, “How did we think we could get away with this? Who is going to put up any sort of resistance to the one who causes the cosmos to be undone?” # Conclusion These things have not happened yet. There have been earthquakes and eclipses, there have been meteor showers, and there have even been some who have fled into the wilderness to avoid destruction on a city, but the stars have not fallen to earth and the sky has not vanished. For that matter, the full number of the martyrs is not complete, so the final judgment on the persecutors has not come. We may still ask, if this is the end of all things, then how is there more of the story? Not just returning to the shire. The new heavens and the new earth doesn't come until chapter 21. There are, in fact, more earthquakes mentioned, and *all* the mountains removed, and more men killed. > Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. (Revelation 20:11 ESV) > Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. (Revelation 21:1 ESV) Either there are repeating ways of referring to the same judgments (as in the sixth seal is also the sixth trumpet is also the sixth bowl), or, as I still think, the sixth seal is followed by the seventh seal which contains the rest of the judgments. It gets worse (for example, in 8:12, a third of the the sun and moon and stars are *struck*, not just changing color). The question that ends the chapter is the great question: Who can stand? -------------------- ## Charge Knowing that the Lamb is storing up wrath for the day of judgment, what ought we to do? Yes, we do have a warning to give to men that they can flee from the wrath now in repentance before the Lamb. But we are also told explicitly to cheer each other up and build each other up. We don't just have one job (evangelism), but we do have one Lord, one hope, in one body. By His grace, stand firm. ## Benediction: > But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:8–11, ESV)

It's hard to live without hope. Many of the Psalms narrate the psalmists' renewal of hope in the midst of tragedy and trial. But several of the psalms also point to a broader, more universal hope—the Messianic Hope. God has a solution for all the wickedness, corruption and evil so prevalent throughout the world and its institutions. He will install His King on Zion, His holy hill. We must live in light of His coming, living not for this age and its rulers, but for Him and His coming kingdom.

The main message of the Bible declares God’s power to accomplish His eternal redemptive purpose. God, the Creator, wants loving fellowship with mankind, whom He created in His image. The reign of God’s King, Jesus, is more than some nice figure or feature of redemption. It is more than a promise about the end of time. God’s covenant with David reveals a very important aspect of God’s purpose: The Reign of His King! The reign of Christ is a fact of the here and now, and it is a necessity for God’s purpose in His church.

The Setting for Palm Sunday Various Passages April 14, 2019I. Introduction:A. The setting for any story is a crucial element of the story.1. Just think if you missed the first 15 minutes of the Wizard of Oz and all yousaw was the rest of the story without being introduced to key characters, thetornado that knocked Dorothy out and not know why she was trying so hardto get back to Kansas!2. That setting helped us better understand the events, characters and theconclusion to the story of the Wizard of Oz!B. The setting is also important to the story of the triumphal entry of Jesus intoJerusalem. It helps us get some context as to what was really going on, helps ussee the importance of that event, we learn more about Jesus from it, and finallythe theme of that event that we celebrate today on Palm Sunday.C. My goal this morning is to show “what is the big deal” with this event that kickedoff …1. The most important week in the history of this whole world which resulted inthe death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.2. And it kicked off a series of events that eventually led to Jesus’ departurefrom this world, His ascension when He went back to heaven.• To accomplish this goal let’s look at …II. The setting to the Triumphal EntryA. Turn to Luke 9:29-31.1. This passage was the time that Jesus was transfigured on the mountain whileHe was praying. It goes on to tell us that two men appeared at that time andwere talking with Jesus, those two men were Moses and Elijah.2. Wouldn’t you have loved to be in on that conversation and listen to what theywere talking about?3. Read 29-31.4. They were talking about His departure, His departure from this world afterHe died, rose and ascended to heaven. And it was going to take place inJerusalem.5. I would say since that was their discussion during the transfiguration of JesusChrist then it would put that topic right at the top of importance list!B. Look at Luke 9:51 and read1. We see here that the days were approaching regarding His ascension whichHe talked about with Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration.2. In light of that, Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem. It literally meansHe “set His face” to go to Jerusalem. That means Jesus had a strong, firmand unchanging commitment to go to JerusalemC. Then in Chapters 13 and 17 it makes a point of telling us about Jesus teaching anddoing miracles while He was on his way to Jerusalem.D. Turn to Luke 18:31-34 where Jesus told the twelve disciples why He was going toJerusalem. Read v31-34E. Turn to Luke 19:11 as they now were getting real close to Jerusalem. And thetwelve disciples had a whole different idea as to why they thought they wereheading to Jerusalem.1. Read 19:112. They thought it was time for the kingdom of God to appear3. But in the next verse Jesus starts to tell them a parable that indicates He isgoing to be going on a long trip, receive a kingdom, then return back again.Read v124. No, that earthly kingdom of God is not going to start now but after a longperiod of time when I return!F. Look down at 19:28 where we see that they were so close that Jesus sends two ofHis disciples ahead to get a donkey, actually a colt – a young male donkey, tobring to Jesus.1. Read v28-352. And now we are ready for the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.• So it is clear that this entry is important. But to understand why this is thesignificance and Jesus had to do this we need to seeIII. The setting behind the settingA. We find this by looking at three key Old Testament passages that actually refer to“this” event of Jesus coming into Jerusalem. And these will help us understandwhy this is so important, exactly what was going on that day.B. Turn to Psalm 118:22-26. This is what is known as Messianic Psalm – simply aPsalm that speaks of the Messiah, the Christ, the coming Savior and King, notonly of Israel but of the whole world.1. As I read watch fora) The rejection of the Messiah, the stone, by the builders but God takingthat rejected stone and making it the chief corner stone for His building,His church, His kingdom.b) Also note that the psalmist calls upon Him to save them, and they givetheir blessing upon this one, this corner stone who comes in the name ofthe Lord2. Read3. Note in Acts 4 that Peter told the rulers and elders of Israel, their leaders, their builders, that they had crucified Jesus the Christ whom God raised –then he said this. Read Acts 4:11-124. So we learn in this passage that there is going to be a rejection by the leadersof God’s Messiah, His Christ, His King and a praise of Him by the people!C. Turn to Daniel 9:25-261. And it is important to realize this book was written 600 years before Jesuscame!2. Here we see what I believe is the most amazing prophecy in Scripture whereGod tells Israel the exact date the Messiah will come to them. I did a sermonon this 16 years ago where I broke down the whole passage phrase by phrase(April 13, 2003) – I am sure you all remember it. But if you forgot it will beattached along with these notes on our church web page. Also CDsavailable!3. Actually from this verse if you do the calculations you will see the exact datethe Messiah, God’s anointed King will come to Israel.a) When the calculations are done you will see the date is April 6, 32 AD –the exact date of the Triumphal Entry we are looking at today in Luke19. The day that Jesus officially presented Himself as the Messiah!4. Then the next verse tells us what will happen after this date. Read v26a) The Messiah will be cut off – the Hebrew word used to indicate a violentdeath. – An obvious reference to the Cross of Christb) Then after this violent death the city of Jerusalem and the Temple will bedestroyed by enemies. –(1) We know from history that the city of Jerusalem and the Templewere destroyed in 70 AD by the Roman army under the leadershipof General Titus.D. Final prep verses I want you to see is in Zechariah 9:9-10. A book that waswritten 500 years before Jesus came! Read and point out1. Their king was going to come to Jerusalem bringing salvation and riding on adonkey, specifically a colt a young male donkey. v92. And note that He is coming to bring peace v10a) He is going to cut off the chariot, horse and bow – all instruments of war.b) He will speak peace to the nations3. His reign will be over the entire world!• Now let’s go back to Luke 19 and read the account with all this setting now in ourminds.IV. Triumphal EntryA. We already saw in the setting to this that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem and Heis going to be on the colt of a donkey, just like Zechariah 9 says and He is alsocoming in on the exact date Daniel 9:25 told us that the Messiah would come toJerusalem. April 6, 32 ADB. So let’s read this – Read Luke 191. Read 35-37a2. Remember we learned in Psalm 118 that the people will praise him but theleaders will reject Him.a) Listen to 37b-39b) They actually quoted the very words of Psalm 118 but changed it fromone who comes to the King who comes. Because of the miracles theysaw they knew He was the Messiahc) The religious leaders told Jesus to stop the people from calling Him theKing. They rejected Jesus as the King.3. Note Jesus’ response to what just happened as he was approaching Jerusalem.Reada) V41-42(1) “This” day – this specific day – April 6 32 AD the date that Danielhad told you about.(2) This day with a proper response would have brought the peace thatv10 of Zechariah 9 spoke of, cut off war weapons and bring peace.4. Now in the next few verses we see the enemies and destruction that Daniel9:26 told us would happen after the Messiah came to Jerusalem and would beviolently killed. Read 43-44b.5. The reason for all of this is found at the end of v44. Read 44ca) They did not recognize that they just got a visit from God, from theMessiah who would bring them peace and salvation.b) Rather than accepting and worshipping the Messiah the leaders of thenation rejected Him and actually sought to put Him to death – Read v47a fulfillment of Daniel 9:26 the violent death of the Messiah.C. Palm Sunday was the official presentation of God’s King to Israel, who came tobring peace and salvation and while the people recognized who He was theofficial leaders of the nation rejected Him.• There are two possible responses to this major event in Jesus life. First….V. ApplicationA. The religious leaders rejected Jesus because they did not recognize who Jesus wasor what was going on1. Read v44.2. Do you recognize that King Jesus is actually here at MVC this very morning? You can’t see Him but the Bible teaches very clearly He is with us when wegather in Jesus’ name3. And do you recognize what is going on here today is you just heard clearlywho Jesus is as proven by this very special event, the Triumphal Entry? AndHe is here today to bring you salvation and peace!4. John 1:9-13B. Is your response like the common people who recognized and praised Jesus astheir King?1. Read v37c-382. Read v40 – If they did not praise Him the stones on the street would havebecause this event was so big and important. This entry demands praise!!!!
