Montana Woodruff (Women in Film and TV) and Tommy Pullen join Flixwatcher to review Montana's choice Woman of the Hour. Woman of the Hour (2023) is the directorial debut from Anna Kendrick and is based on the true crime story of serial killer and sex offender Rodney Alcala. The plot alternates between aspiring actress Sheryl (Anna Kendrick) as she navigates sexism and harassment in 1978 while trying to secure acting roles and Alcala's known murders from 1971 to 1979. On her agents advice she takes up the opportunity to be a contestant on The Dating Game, also a contestant is Rodney Alcala, a serial killer hiding in plain sight. Woman of the Hour is a confident debut from Anna Kendrick, she sensitively handles the rape and extreme violence that Alcala inflicted on his victims. Recommendability scores for Woman of the Hour were very high, however, despite its 94 minutes runtime it scored low on repeat viewing to give an overall rating of 3.81. Cheyenne Bart-Stewart (Little White Lies, Moviemarker) and Amon Warmann (Fade to Black podcast, Empire Magazine, Talk Sport) return to Flixwatcher to review Cheyenne's choice Hit Man. Hit Man (2023) is a romantic crime comedy, directed by Richard (Boyhood) Linklater, written by Linklater and Glen Powell, who stars as Gary. It is loosely based on on the true story of a college professor who worked for the Houston police in the late 1980s and 1990s as a fake hitman, as described in a 2001 magazine article by Skip Hollandsworth. A philosophy professor, Gary Johnson, moonlights for the police by posing as a fake hitman to catch people hiring assassins. He adopts elaborate personas, but when he meets a desperate woman, Madison, he falls for her and starts blurring the lines between his real self and his "Ron" alter-ego, leading to unexpected trouble. Hit Man is a lot of fun and scored very highly on recommendability from Flixwatcher and guests to score 4.03 overall. Despite any gripes with Xbox this year, there's no denying that 2026 presents a fun challenge for them. Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Halo, and Gears Of War E-Day are all slated to drop next year. However, a new wrinkle has been introduced in the ambitious RPG, Clockwork Revolution, which hails from inXile Entertainment. After a seven minute trailer from this summer's showcase, we felt this thing had to be ready to go soon. Sadly, the RPG titan tempered our expectations when the trailer ended with the familiar statement from its initial reveal: "Coming in due time." Well, if a LinkedIn profile is to be believed, Clockwork Revolution may join the fray of a busy year for the "biggest publisher in gaming." Naturally, we hone in on GTA 6 which creates a splash radius so large that every publisher will be avoiding them for the fall. How Xbox navigates this will be interesting as we have yet to consider overdue titles like State Of Decay 3 and third party deals. Buckle up, friends! It's going to be a wild ride. The instructions were very clear: Walk over to the hit car. Open the front passenger door and get in. Do not look around. Keep your head facing forward. Act normal. Angie Solomon does just that, slides in and stares at the dashboard. “Have you done this before?” A male voice answers from the backseat behind her to let her know that she's asking one too many questions. Angie nervously laughs then continues. Angie tells the hitman in the backseat of the car about her youngest child. A daughter named Gracie, whom Angie claims, was abused by her ex-husband and Gracie's father Aaron. Angie continues. She tells the hitman about Aaron's schedule, his address, how his gate has a hole in the back that the hitman can get through. The hitman finally speaks, “You understand that I'm not going to see you again. You understand that right? He'll be dead and disappear…” But the morning after Angie plotted to kill her ex-husband, Aaron would not be dead.And the two them, Mr. Backseat man and Angie, they would see each other again… In a courtroom full of people while the recording of Angie in the hit car plays in open court. Mr. Backseat Man is an undercover FBI agent. By 2025 Angie will be arrested for murder for hire. Aaron will be accused of trafficking his daughter Gracie in a high powered ring of mega church pastors and the governor of Tennessee. And Grant, the first born son will be dead. This is the case of the Solomons where it's clear that at least one of them is lying.
