What We Miss when we Set Goals

In this episode, I wanted to hop on and talk a little bit more about the idea behind my Anti Goals Workshop, and what that title actually means!   When we talk about goals, a lot of the time they can be deceivingly simple. The typical conversation around them ignores the anxiety that making goals can set off and the unique conditioning we all experience that might stop us from reaching that goal… or even making it to begin with!   That's why I want to do a 180 on goals as we step into the new year. Now don't get me wrong, it's a good thing to have an idea of where you're going and make plans. The thing I'm not a fan of within traditional goal setting is using goals as metrics to measure your worth or continued success. It doesn't take into account the unique human behind the goals: the fact that goals might take more than one try, or be effected by unexpected life events, or take a little more work depending on your own conditioning around things like success.     Listen for more talk about a new way to approach goal setting and how to make space for the individual, wonderful YOU as you make plans for 2022.   Want to watch the full Anti Goals Workshop? Just sign up here and we'll send you the replay: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/anti-goals-workshop   Interested in working with me in the new year? I want to double my business's revenue." Well, great....but what are you going to have to unravel in order to actually achieve that goal?"   "Goals often are made as if our subconscious brains and our feelings don't exist and they can give us a false sense of control. If I make a goal, if I name where I'm going, then I will avoid the stickiness of everything that surrounds that goal."   "Most goal setting I've seen is... about becoming a more standardised version of yourself. And forgetting, burying, casting aside, abandoning the parts of you that yes, are sometimes hard to deal with. But are also other sides of magical parts of you. And I really want to encourage you. I am excited to see what happens when we set goals that honour who we are."

This week, the tables are turned! In this episode, we switch it up and Jo Casey interviews me about everything that led up to me becoming a money coach and mentor, and everything that's happened since. We talk about how making 94k in the first year of my business wasn't necessarily the relief it seemed it would be, and the unexpectedly scary and intimidating things that can come with reaching financial milestones, especially when they happen so quickly (yes, it's possible for your diamond shoes to be too tight!) I talk about trying to come back from a bad experience in my second year of business, and the different things that you can do to build yourself up after you've been knocked down. We talk therapy, coaching, and how you can still be struggling and working through things while earning- the two aren't exclusive! There are things that you can consciously do to make that shift from having a business that requires your perfection (nope), to having a business that works with you, your growth and ambitions (that's more like it). If this sounds like something you're interested in, be sure to check out my new program Plenty More! We'll be offering a free training session for accepted applicants, so you can get a taste for what the program will be like before signing up. Applications are now open, so follow the link here to get on the list: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/plentymoretraining QUOTES ‘But a lot of my panic, a lot of my fear. A lot of the kind of emotional rollercoaster of like, of how I'd got to that 94k, was like: I can do this. I can do this. Oh my God. I don't think I can do this. I don't think I'm doing this. Or, oh my God. I need to hide in my bed and watch Grey's Anatomy because I'm terrified. Like that was kind of the three, like…the Bermuda triangle of emotion that I like swung around.' ‘I kept trying, I think it was like nine months to a year, I kept trying to fix myself and kept going for these quick fixes, like a short session with a hypnotherapist or a one-off session with a coach on something. And I just couldn't, it just wouldn't work.' ‘So even when we're in that high place where we're like, ‘I'm feeling really excited, therefore none of the other stuff exists.' I just squash it down and squash it down, squash it down, and then you can't. You cannot squash stuff like that down. It's not how we work as humans. And so it just boils up and you're suddenly like, oh God, it's like utterly overwhelming.' ‘But there is that feeling of like, I've got wages to pay. I have always been the breadwinner in the family - I've got to support. If I don't make money. What do I do? And there's so much pressure, which is not the best thing when you're not feeling, you know, when you're feeling anxious or you've had your trauma poked at.' ‘It doesn't feel trustworthy. I think when I made that money fast. It felt very much like I'd been chucked up in the air and left. Then I was a bit like, what? Where am I? What's happening? I don't know. I didn't get here gently. It's why we should be much more positive about slow growth'

In this episode, I finally get to introduce you to the brilliant Jo Casey. Jo is going to be joining the team as a coach on Plenty More, which is launching within the next few weeks! Jo has been coaching for over 20 years, and describes herself as the coach you come to when you've grown tired of the bro marketers and their obsessions over the size of their funnels and how early they get up in the morning. And she walks the walk. When I met Jo, I knew she was the perfect fit to join the team for Plenty More. As we've been developing the new course this summer, we've deep dived into our own ‘goods' and ‘not so goods' of coaching programs we've been on. In this episode, you'll hear a lot about how essential it is to find the right coaching match for you - a coach or program can be great, and still not fit your learning style, the level of support you need, your energy levels, and all the many factors that make you a unique and individual human. Jo and I talk about our love of coaching that doesn't just make room for mistakes but knows they're necessary for growth. We chat about leaning in to experimenting and troubleshooting, trusting yourself, and embracing your own process to build and grow your business on your own principles and terms. This one's all about coaching with integrity and being coached with your needs at the centre of it all. If this sounds like your kind of coaching, be sure to check out Plenty More! QUOTES - Jo: 'We call it business coaching, but a lot of the time its business strategy, business consultancy. And there's often things that will be bedded into a program, like our program, that will have elements of strategy. It will have elements of consultancy mentoring. That's why I call myself a money coach and mentor because I absolutely do both.' - Ray: ‘I kind of think of [coaching] as sitting with someone and they're drawing stuff out of you, but you're also absorbing stuff and learning stuff from that person. And that's no bad thing. That's great.' - Ray: ‘Patriarchy literally means handed from father to son. So to me, it means ignoring women… or anyone who's not father son. Who doesn't fit into that bracket. It means ignoring everybody. But that obviously happens in terms of, we talk about neurological diversities. You know, if somebody hasn't got that, if you're selling how you managed to do business and you don't have a neurological diversity, or you are a white woman, or you are a cis hetero woman, there are things you are just missing.' Jo Casey is a business coach for quirky, artisanal business owners (think coaches, healers and makers) who want to build a sustainable online business without any shiny, shouty nonsense. Jo is 49, lives in Manchester in the UK and was diagnosed autistic just a few weeks before our conversation, having self identified in February this year - so this is really new territory for her. But she has a really interesting take on autism and how it's helping shape the online business world. Jo and I met on Twitter and I knew immediately that I wanted to chat with her. As you may know I'm a little bit obsessed with coaches and coaching, I work almost exclusively with coaches in my business, and I'm really interested in online working, self employment and self development. But even if you don't share my obsession, you'll find lots to love in this conversation. In our conversation we talk about: ➡ Sensory challenges in childhood and adulthood ➡ Workplace challenges for autistic people ➡ Her journey from employee to business owner as an undiagnosed autistic person ➡ Why being autistic makes her good at what she does, and why self employment can be a good fit for us And Jo gives some great advice for autistic people wondering if self employment is a good option for them. Squarepeg is a podcast in which neurodivergent women, and trans and nonbinary people, explore navigating a neurotypical world and share their insights, challenges and successes. I hope that these conversations will be inspiring and thought provoking, open you up to new ways of thinking about being neurodivergent, and help you feel more connected to a worldwide community of people with similar experiences. I'm Amy Richards, and after being diagnosed autistic at the age of 37 I'm now on a mission to learn more about different perspectives and issues around being a neurodivergent adult in a world that feels like it doesn't quite fit.   EPISODE LINKS: Jo's website: www.jocasey.com  Her podcast: https://www.jocasey.com/unshiny-podcast/  Her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jocaseyb/ Her Twitter: https://twitter.com/JoCaseyB  The TED talk Jo mentions: https://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_how_to_start_a_movement   If you'd like to connect or get in touch with Squarepeg, you can find me on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/squarepeg.community/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/squarepegautism  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/squarepegautism/  Or on my website: https://squarepeg.community/    THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS! We talk about how many of the people she works with are people like coaches and healers and makers, and they don't necessarily see themselves as someone with a book inside them, until she suggests it might be possible. And once they get used to the idea, they see a huge value that a long-form book could offer them and sharing their expertise in a deeper way. (as much as possible)  **The difference between ‘responsible’ feminine and ‘irresponsible’ feminine, and between being ‘responsible’ and being a ‘good girl’. **How we can relate Elsa from ‘Frozen’ to our own lives and conditioning. **How we’ve been conditioned to associate creative and caring professions with a lower financial value than some other professions, like sport, law or science, which are perceived as more pragmatic/logical/data driven roles with a more ‘masculine’ energy. **The importance of recognising the value that you can provide, and the transformation that you can facilitate in others. **How when we’re talking about feminine conditioning, we’re not just talking about women - men have feminine energies too, and have also been conditioned. **That we’re not always aware of conditioning taking place **How working 9-5, Monday to Friday was set up for some men based on their cycle.  This ‘model’ of business doesn’t work for all of us though. Have you ever wondered why you do the things you do? Or why exactly you’re throwing up obstacles in your own path with stories and reasons why you can’t do certain things? In this episode, Jo Casey is going to help us unpack this and so much more. You’ve probably heard that there’s no greater self-development journey than running your own business. And I know that’s definitely been the case for me. Being a boss has stretched me and pushed me in ways that I never expected and constantly forces me to deal with what’s really going on in my head.  I’m sure it’s much the same for you, so I invited Jo Casey to help us examine why we do what we do and how we may be holding ourselves back. And while much of our discussion does speak to feminine conditioning, there are some amazing lessons in here — no matter what gender you are. Get the scoop here: www.smallbusinessboss.co/episode177

Today on the Ready Enough podcast, I am honoured and delighted to have my friend and colleague Jo Casey on the show. I wanted to talk to her about something she deals with on an on-going basis that I do not. And that I know many of you do. And that is Anxiety. When is the experience of staying out of action, doubting our capacity, and feeling alone and isolated the Imposter Complex and when is it anxiety? In this episode, Jo and I talk discuss that “positive thinking” to rid yourself of your problems is only part of the story, how Jo sees her anxiety and the imposter complex as a tag team, how anxiety functions with its on illogical logic, when anxiety can actually serve a semi-positive role (for Jo, it can make her hyper-focused), how anxiety plays into the sense of belonging, when anxiety plays into the lie of the impostor complex of “you must tell no one,” how anxiety plays into work and entrepreneur culture, and how messaging around anxiety functions differently in our culture for women.   Today's Guest Joanna Hennon and I are back with another co-hosted episode! Today, we talk about working with spirit guides vs connecting to our higher self. We discuss whether or not it’s disempowering to get guidance from external sources, and whether or not we should just rely on our intuition and our higher self for everything. This is kind of a Part II to episode 290 with Jo Casey, where we had a different conversation based on the same topic. This is the first time where I’ve covered the same topic with different people, and I think it’s really interesting how different the two conversations were. I hope you find this useful! This was inspired by an email Holly received from a listener: Spirit guides versus inner self! This has been on my mind for a while and has come to the foreground while I've been taking Lisa MW's WooWoo101 course I've been wondering; if you rely on spirit guides for guidance, is that not… disempowering? Your inner self has all the answers, right? So is looking to spirit guides, or things like pendulums etc, not giving your power away? Is it trusting external factors rather than trusting your own inner guidance? Or are they simply all coming from the same place? I'd love to have more clarity on this, since it feels a little woolly in my head.   More About Joanna Hennon Joanna is a #SoulSmart Success Mentor - she helps people to easily create more success  by using the wisdom and power we all have access to at soul level. Living life from a place of soul power, in tune with your higher self and your Guides, and using the Law of Attraction with intention will literally change your life! By working with spirit guides or with your higher self? Is guidance from your spirit guides better than guidance from your higher self? Is there a kind of hierarchy? Find meaning in the madness of running a business. In this episode, I chat with business coach (and host of the Meaningful Business podcast) Jo Casey about feminine conditioning, energetic scheduling, the best of books, and much, much more. The key takeaways: We all need to look at how we can create businesses that sustainable financially, emotionally and energetically. The rates of burnout amongst solopreneurs and entrepreneurs are really big, and it’s probably because there’s nobody telling us to clock out. We need to put those definite boundaries in ourselves. We’re the pioneers of working online. We’re developing new business models and ways of working ALL THE TIME. It’s exciting and gives us a lot of scope to get creative, especially with the ever-changing technology. Freedom? Yes, but we still need a bit of structure in there somewhere. Learn to understand your own energy patterns and build your schedule accordingly. There’s this idea that we are selfish if we’re not helping people all of the time, or if we ask for money for it, or if we’re not in all the Facebook groups answering questions and giving free advice 24/7, then we’re selfish and it’s just not true. But it’s a really pernicious idea that runs deep in a lot of us.   -------------------- Join me on Instagram here:  https://www.instagram.com/dairecharlotte/ Sign up for my weekly (ish) jolts of genius here: http://dairepaddy.com/ -------------------- For the full show notes, including all the links mentioned in this episode, go here >> http://dairepaddy.com/episode39 -------------------- If you enjoyed this episode I'd love it if you could: a) Share your favourite moment, takeaway, or place to listen in your Instagram Stories, tagging me (@dairecharlotte) b) Hop over to iTunes and leave me an honest review.

Today’s Guest I'm back with another co-hosted episode with the fabulous Jo Casey! Today's episode was inspired by a post that someone made in my Facebook group: “Hey Holly, I’ve been thinking about something just lately, and wondered if anyone has some thoughts about this? When you’re not making the progress you want in your business, how do you know if: You’re reluctant to move out of your comfort zone and step up (in which case, it may be worth pursuing, gently); or 2. What you want to do (or think you should do) is out of alignment with your values (in which case it should probably be abandoned)? Both these situations can feel like fear, reluctance, or lead to procrastination. How do you tell the difference if it feels ‘off’ but you’re not quite sure why? This is something I’d love to hear you and Jo discuss on the podcast!” Today, using me as an example, we talk about the difference between misalignment and fear. Some people can “solve” this dilemma using logic, but those of us who are more intuitive can really struggle with being in this type of situation. The differences are very subtle, and it's worth digging deeper into this topic to get clarity on what's exactly going on so we can know exactly what to do. The Couragemakers Podcast | Encouragement, Inspiration & Rebel Rousing for Mission Driven Doers, Makers & Shakers |

Hello Courgemakers and welcome to episode 71 of The Couragemakers Podcast. Before we dive into this week's episode, I want to share with you something pretty epic I've been working on lately. So, as you might know from previous episodes where I've shared parts of my story, a big catalyst in my story has been burning out and leaving the nonprofit and activist world. Since leaving that world, I feel like I've been on a huge journey of finding work that sustains me, brings me joy and changes the world at the same time. While I've learned so much during that journey, the biggest [something] that I've come to believe is that we're all capable of finding work we love, that aligns with our values and makes the world a brighter place. And the most important part of that lesson? We each have work that only we can do. In the past couple of years, I've been doing a lot of reflecting. My background is in community development work, activism, one to one client work and working to develop world-changing projects. And I absolutely loved the foundations of that work. I loved working on a grassroots level, I loved bringing projects to life and working with the people behind them, and I loved seeing dreams become reality. But somewhere along the line, the depth of my frustrations specifically with the sector and the internal structures completely blinded me to the parts I loved. And the strangest part was, that the work that I loved? It's never stopped. Whether it's the work I do here on Couragemakers to encourage and rebel-rouse you to do the work you love and find a life you love, the back and forth emails with lovely listeners who are trying to find a way to do the work only they can do, or the massive reams of blog posts, weekly newsletters and heart warming conversations I have - it's become all too clear to see that that work never ended. And I don't think the activist in me will ever go away, even if it is now different than marching on the front lines! So, there's been a question floating around in my head. I wondered: is there a way of properly combining the parts of the work I loved and excelled at, with That Hummingbird Life and Couragemakers? But the base of my question was this: What is the work only I can do, that really sets me on fire? The answer came a couple of years ago, sat in a coffee shop. And it was a pretty bloody obvious answer: how about helping multi-passionate, creatives and fellow dreamers to do the work that only they can do? And that work only they can do? Well, that's their epic shit. Since being in that coffee shop, sketching out the basics of what would become The Epic Shit Sessions, they've developed into a series of sessions designed to help you on every stage of your dream chasing journey. They are now four standalone mentoring/coaching sessions for multi-passionate doers, makers and world shakers who want to want to get their shit rolling, make it happen and generally just get shit done.  Basically, taking you from from Ahh I'm drowning under post-it notes, to holy shit I can do it They include a 90 minute brainstorming session to develop and refine your ideas and take you from overwhelmed to shut-the-front-door excitement (aptly named Get Shit Rolling) a 1:1 month long experience for turning your project into an action plan so you can walk away with your creative roadmap called Make Shit Happen and an email accountability service, which will give you the gentle kick up the arse you need to get your show on the road ,which helps you, as the name suggests, Get Shit Done! Oh, and also possibly my favouritely named one ‘Fuck This Shit', a 90 minute session designed for creatives with no fucks left to give, to drag your enthusiasm back from its gap year and focus on what really matters and how you can do your work in a way that lights you up as well. Think part coaching, part mentoring and part cheerleading without the cheesy pom-poms, but with the music.  Behind the scenes I've been working with clients on these sessions since May and now I'm so excited to officially bring them out into the world! So, just wanted to let you know the latest in my mission to stop dreamshitters and get you doing the work that matters! You can find out more about the sessions by going to thathummingbirdlife.com/epicshit. Now onto today's show! This week I'm thrilled to share with you my conversation with Lara Heacock. I was introduced to Lara by the lovely Jo Casey who's been a previous guest on Couragemakers. I've long been a fan of Lara's work over on the online magazine Kind Over Matter and it's fair to say that we bonded not only over our aligned values but also our shared love of goats! Lara Heacock is an Executive Life Coach based in suburban Philadelphia and   She brings a 15 year background in recruiting and leadership, an MBA and a life coaching certification, as well as her experience running an online business. Lara is passionate about empowering professionals to feel more confident, achieve goals and enjoy the lives they work so hard to build. Lara is an INFJ Myers Briggs personality type and is a travel lover and self confessed total animal nut. In this episode we're really diving into kindness, reclaiming the world selfish and the standards we hold ourselves and others to. Lara shares her journey to running online magazine Kind Over Matter and becoming an executive life coach, the year that changed everything for her and fantastic advice for saying no and setting boundaries. We have so many great conversations about holding our truths and other people's truths simultaneously, how self kindness doesn't always look like self kindness and also the power of making gutteral, intuitive decisions. This is such a wonderful, practical episode, and the And/Or method Lara mentions in this episode is seriously changing my life! In a world full of so much confrontation, angst and polite conversations over dinner with family avoiding politics, I know you're really going to love what Lara has to say about parallel truths and being able to hear each other without denying your own truth. You might need a notepad and pen for this one! Enjoy the show!   About Lara   Things we talked about   Lara shares her journey to running online magazine Kind Over Matter and becoming an executive life coach, the year that changed everything for her and fantastic advice for saying no and setting boundaries. Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

Life Coach is a word that you see everywhere today. But are you born a life coach or do you need to live a life of ups and downs? Well today's guest joining on the Join Up Dots show is a lady who I first connected with several years ago, but never got a chance to properly say hello to. Which is a bit of a regret, as not only is she a truly lovely individual but is also based in this little island of ours: Yep, she is based in rainy Manchester in the United Kingdom and since working for British Telecom as a Call Centre Trainer has been on a mission. A mission to develop employees everywhere to become the best that they can be, and find happiness whilst they are doing it. And she certainly seems to now have found her thing, after as much struggle as everyone else As she says “I'd love to be able to say I'm one of those people who is so super clever, I built a successful coaching business easily. But that would be a big. Fat. Lie. I spent my first year as a coach taking every course I could get my hands on, which led to massive overwhelm. It became a patchwork quilt of information: a course on blogging, another for WordPress, another on podcasting, then copywriting. But it wasn't cohesive. I wanted courses to help me go step-by-step so I could focus on what I loved, coaching.” And so how has she done it? How has she managed to blend her years of being an employee into someone who is crushing it, but also being totally themselves…being happy in the process? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the lovely Northern lass herself Jo Casey. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty Subjects with Jo Casey such as: Why she is so aware of the power that comes with being different to everyone else, and by embracing that fact you will find your customers so much quicker. How looking back on the first year of her making mistake is now fine as she can see that nobody was really listening or watching what she was doing anyway. Why she is so aware that she has the opportunity to become the best boss to herself that she has ever had, and doesn't take that fact lightly. And Lastly…….. Why it is so important to understand in life what you truly are: Artist and Entrepreneur especially when you first start building your dream business.

The Couragemakers Podcast | Encouragement, Inspiration & Rebel Rousing for Mission Driven Doers, Makers & Shakers |

Hello Couragemakers and welcome to episode 58 of The Couragemakers Podcast! This week I'm thrilled to share with you my wonderfully honest conversation with Jo Casey.  Jo Casey is a certified coach, speaker, trainer and coach mentor. In addition to being British, Jo is slightly nerdy and allergic to the marketing bullshit in the coaching industry.  Jo specializes in helping coaches do the self-development work needed to thrive in the online world, get more clients and build sustainable, honest businesses - all without resorting to the darks arts or sleazy marketing tactics. Jo's patronus would be Lesley Knope and Maya Angelou, Stephen Fry, Trevor Noah, Caitlin Moran and Tina Fey are among the many guests Jo would invite to her fantasy dinner party. This episode is all about undoing the messy reality of being a woman and all the challenges that come with being visible and putting yourself out there.   Jo shares her journey from being the first in her family to go to university, burning out in the workplace, being a coach for the past 17 year and bringing politics and feminism into her business. We really dive into what it means to show up as a woman, and how we can break free from what Jo calls feminine conditioning - this notion that we have to keep ourselves small and play the part of the good woman. We have so many great discussions about digging your heels in and demanding better as women, the courage it takes to bring your big picture and politics into the work you do and how we are all creating ripples without even knowing it. We also talk about what it means to be genuinely authentic online and how sharing your struggles can be a source of inspiration. This episode is essential listening for every woman looking to stop apologising for the fact she exists, for every woman who wants to embrace the messier, complicated bits of life and for every woman who is sick of the bullshit. Jo is a huge source of inspiration to me - she has been a great mentor to me and it was so good to sit down and really put the world to rights.  Enjoy the show!   About Jo Jo Casey is a certified coach, speaker, trainer and coach mentor.  In addition to being British, slightly nerdy and allergic to the marketing bullsh*t in the coaching industry, she's certain that succeeding as female entrepreneurs means violating every single message that's been poured into us about what it means to be a ‘good' woman. Is there a box that we’re supposed to fit into, and if so, how is being in it holding us back? If these are things you’ve often wondered about, then you’re going to be enlightened by Jo and the powerful message she shares with us today!

Today’s Guest After two and a half years of interviews and solo shows on this podcast, I'm super excited to introduce a new format. You may know Jo Casey from previous episodes: I interviewed her for episodes 21 and 121 (no, we didn't plan the numbering there...but I like it!), and Jo interviewed me for episodes 31 and 115. Plus, I've been on her podcast twice, first talking about social media http://www.jocasey.com/hollyworton/ and later talking about coaching http://www.jocasey.com/whp-27-combine-coaching-expertise/. So you can see that we have loads to talk about! I wanted to partner up with someone this year to do some co-hosted episodes, and we decided we'd make a great match. The idea is to have a conversation (much like my regular episodes) around a single topic each time. Today, we talk about messaging: what is your business message, and why do you need one? In this episode, we demystify messaging so you can understand why it's so important, and how to get clear on yours. I'd love to hear what you think of this format! Please comment and let me know. Also, we've got a whole list of topics that we want to discuss on this show, but please drop us a note in the comments and let us know what you'd like to hear us talking about. Thanks! We started out experimenting with this new format for episode 132 and got great feedback, so we're giving it another go. Today, we talk about how to get a book out of your head and onto Amazon. In this episode, Jo interviews Holly about the process of writing and self publishing a book. You’ll learn a step by step process for making this happen and you can even download a PDF with all the details. I'd love to hear what you think of this new format! Please comment and let me know. Also, we've got a whole list of topics that we want to discuss on this show, but please drop us a note in the comments and let us know what you'd like to hear us talking about. Thanks! About Jo Casey Jo Casey is a certified life coach, trainer and coach mentor.  She’s British, slightly nerdy and allergic to the marketing bullsh*t in the coaching industry. Founder of jocasey.com, podcaster, speaker, and writer for Coaching Blueprint, Mind Body Green and Tiny Buddha.  Things that make me scream with glee: Freshly washed bed linen, watching my husband get all 'handy' around the place (DIY I mean), yellow wedge sandals, fabric stores, the sound of my kids giggling, Jesus Christ Superstar the musical. Spirit Animal: Lesley Knope Why you should listen to me about coaching: I've been training, coaching and mentoring coaches for 14 years and I built my own coaching and training business after a lot of initial trial and error. I've been where you are now and I love showing coaches like you how to pull out all of the things that will make your business stand out and attract the right clients to you, without wasting a lot of time on useless and expensive shiny objects. Listen to this episode What You’ll Learn All the steps in the process of getting a book out of your head and onto Amazon: step by step How to write a book even if you can’t bear the thought of sitting at your computer for long enough to get it done Dos and Don’ts of book cover design, including tips that can make or break your book How to print a paperback without ending up with a garage full of books What order you need to do everything in, and which steps overlap in the process People and Things We Discussed Blinkist ACX.com It would make me so happy if you could take a minute and share this with other women entrepreneurs on Twitter. If you enjoy the Business Mindset Podcast, please click to tweet: [BMP155] Jo + Holly ~ How to Get a Book Out of Your Head and Onto Amazon  http://wp.me/p3507p-3wX #podcast How to Subscribe Click here to subscribe via iTunes Click here to subscribe via RSS Click here to subscribe via Stitcher Help Spread the Word If you enjoyed this episode, please head on over to iTunes and kindly leave us a rating and a review! Today's guest joining on the Join Up Dots show is a lady who I first connected with several years ago, but never got a chance to properly say hello to. To hear more from Joe Casey go to: Podcast: The Work Happy Coaching Podcast Description: The Work Happy Coaching Podcast is the place for Life Coaches, Health Coaches and Holistic practitioners to learn how to build their businesses in a way that's smart, non-icky & filled to the brim with integrity, heart and good humour. Even if you hate marketing, Jo Casey will share step-by-step strategies to get more coaching clients, earn more money and therefore do more good in the world. The show's a mixture of super smart guest expert interviews and Jo Casey's personal guidance to grow your coaching business like a weed. Oh, and she's a massive nerd when it comes to all things coaching - you have been warned!

Today’s Guest I originally met today’s guest, Jo Casey, not that long ago. She's actually a podcast listener and a coaching client of Kate Courageous, and that's how she found out about Socially Holistic. She helps people beat stress by building their resilience – so they can LOVE their work. Whether you’re a freelancer, business owner or work the ’9-5′ your work should be a source of joy and enrichment – but instead so many people are stressed out, overworked and feeling unhappy. There’s a much better way! Jo teaches practical ways to increase your resilience, reconnect with your purpose and rediscover the joy in your working life. Her client lists includes The Welsh Assembly Government, The NHS, The National Patient Safety Agency, Peugeot Motors, Barclaycard, Daimler Chrysler, BT, and Toyota Motors. And she's also worked with some of the coolest entrepreneurs and smaller organizations around too. So... how stressed are you? Are you really stressed? Are you sure you're not just overly busy? If things are getting out of control then there are some great ways to bring your energy back to where it should be. Enjoy the show!
