Julie Andrews warbles A Spoon Full of Sugar Makes the Medicine Go Down from the original Mary Poppins in 1964. Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman composed this memorable ditty. Atlanta-born filmmaker Ken Feinberg drops by Movie Addict Headquarters to give listeners a sneak peek at SANTA’S BOOT CAMP, a family holiday motion picture opening in November. This fun movie stars a bunch of kids and features a cameo by Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts. Feinberg once made a nice living in Los Angeles playing big, bad-looking meanies on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed, but he became disappointed about running into a wall of typecasting. That prompted him to move back to Atlanta and start the Creative Studios of Atlanta Film Academy for young actors. SANTA’S BOOT CAMP provided the students with an opportunity to work in a real film. This movie is a hilarious look behind the scenes at Santa’s Workshop where the Elves go on strike and a handful of regular kids must save the day.
Filmmaker Ben Cresciman drops by Movie Addict Headquarters to discuss Sun Choke, his new psychological thriller. A perfect melding of style and substance, Sun Choke has received rave reviews. This unique film, written and directed by Cresciman, stars Sarah Hagan as a young woman trying to get well and Barbara Crampton as her longtime nanny. When things go wrong with their relationship, the horrors begin. Cresciman, who grew up in Los Angeles, admits that director David Lynch and his Mulholland Drive have influenced his work. After finishing his first film Negative Space, Cresciman was accepted into the USC screenwriting MFA program. Sun Choke is his second feature film.

When he was only 10 years old, Dragon won a year-long scholarship to the Renaissance School of Art in Oakland, California. He is now an expert in props, costumes, weapons, miniatures, stunts, martial arts and swords. Among his accomplishments are doing the props for Total Recall and choreographing the gorilla fight scenes in Tim Burton’s The Planet of the Apes. Chuck is known for his work in Night Train, Under Lock and Key and Death Riders. Noted film critics Richard Jack Smith and A.J. Hakari join in this celebration of Horner’s impressive contributions to the cinema. Smith is the soundtrack reviewer for ReelTalk Movie Reviews, and Hakari contributes movie reviews to various sites including his own popular blog CineSlice. Sadly, Horner died in a plane crash on June 22nd at age 61. He left behind a remarkable reputation as one of the greatest film composers of all time. He boasts 125 composing credits on the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDb). His score for Titanic earned him an Oscar, and his popular My Heart Will Go On also won an Academy Award as Best Original Song the same year. Plus, Horner received many additional Oscar nominations during his illustrious career. Maureen O'Hara, one of the great stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, passed away on October 24, 2015. Film critics Diana Saenger and James Colt Harrison dropped by to salute the famous Irish actress who appeared in such classic movies as The Quiet Man, Mracle on 34th Street, How Green Was My Valley, Spanish Main and McClintock. Because of her beautiful red hair, she was called the Queen of Technicolor, and her work in so many Westerns earned her a Golden Boot Award in 1991. Brought to Hollywood from Ireland by Charles Laughton in the late 1930s, Maureen achieved immediate acclaim for her fiery performances in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Jamaica Inn. She remained a popular box-office draw throughout her long acting career and played opposite a host of A-list actors including John Wayne, Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart. It was a treat to hear classic movie experts Diana Saenger and James Colt Harrison discuss Maureen O'Hara's remarkable film career. Diana is the founder of Classic Movie Guide, and James is a film historian who writes movie commentary for a variety of outlets, including Review Express and Classic Movie Guide. Maureen O'Hara was a multi-talented actress and grand lady. She will be missed -- but her wonderful performances live on through the magic of film.
