You've probably seen this man in the background of movies, tv shows and in a certain Blockbuster commercial, you're whole life and not realized it. Bill was recently in a horror parody sequel called They Came Back From Somewhere, he was also in Puppet Master: Doktor Death and so much more. Bill tells his story that is one of a blue collar actor, one that also started in Improv in Chicago back in the 80s. He was a bit of a contrarian earlier on but did find some commercial success in the 90s. You might recognize him from a ‘Perfect Store' Blockbuster commercial, which shows up in the Last Blockbuster documentary as well as in the background of Home Alone. He considers his first feature to be Wildcats, (the movie with Goldie Hawn) where he played a referee. He's done America's Funniest People and mystery series like Mysteries Unknown. After a break, when his family came along, he returned to his Improv roots, teaching in 2014. He did some sketch shows in Second City, but because of his contradictory nature, Bill never sought the main stage there, like everyone else who aspired to act. But he was definitely inspired by a Second City success, Harold Ramis and actually auditioned for Ground Hog Day, three times. Bill has a film streaming now called You're Out, it's not horror but you get to watch him play a huge a**hole in it! If you like baseball flicks, check it out. He will also be in the psychological thriller, Unseen (directed by Steve Merlo). Plus a slasher flick called Final Summer (John Isberg), check it out!! Bill has quite a few exciting projects coming out. It's been a winding road but Bill is on his second wind of his career. Follow him on IG to keep up with him. An award-winning global director of cirque, cinema and stage. As a comic act designer he specializes in clowns, characters and story components. Stefan is the author of The Power of HA!Connecting Through the Heart of Humor. He studied theatre in college only to realize that his true passion lay in the cross-over to the circus arts, so he set his sights on Cirque du Soleil. As a result of his intuitive gift for mining actors' true potential, various sit-coms hired him to coach actors, including The Roseanne Show. After self-producing a number of critically acclaimed plays in Hollywood and New York City (Call of the Wild, Midsummer Nite's Text, Your Town Follies, Moon Over Madness, Atomic Holiday Lift-Off) he traveled to Europe to juggle on the streets and study with the premiere master-teacher, Philippe Gaulier. This move resulted in a collaboration with Bill Irwin and David Shiner on the Tony- winning show Fool Moon. Haves was then poached by Cirque du Soleil, collaborating on clown and character performances within six touring and resident productions (Kooza, Iris, Amaluna, Banana Shpeel, Zaya, and Drawn to Life). Prior to that, he wrote and directed the world-class Teatro Zinzanni—a dinner/ cabaret featuring such luminaries as Joan Baez. Today, Stefan Haves is a trusted international thought-leader who was tapped to present a TedX Talk in New Delhi, India, and was invited to conduct personal appearances for blue-chip companies like PepsiCo, Infosys, Mindtree, and Barclays Bank. He gleefully shares his innovative message on the role of humor, creativity, and effective expression gleaned from the stage and applied to the corporate workplace. In 2021 Haves was granted the opportunity to co-direct Katy Perry's Playland-branded New Year's dinner/cirque event at Hilton's Resort World in Las Vegas. Earlier in his career, Haves cut his teeth as an actor and a visual-comedian who appeared on stages and television shows worldwide—even garnering $10,000 on America's Funniest People by performing his signature piece "Back-Man". Stefan's 2016 original conception of the spectacle Festigal, in which Haves was tasked to showcase famous pop celebrities from television's Romania's Got Talent, used a Cirque du Soleil aesthetic in a stadium setting. His cinematic offerings include the award-winning short film Punch Drunk, featuring Academy Award nominee Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) and full-length feature Stalled starring Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth).

According to the man himself, if it was possible to stuff Daffy Duck, some oatmeal, and Benjamin Franklin into a blender and hit the puree button, one might pour out a helping of Bruce Baum. Unfortunately, we may never know for sure. After attending UCLA and UC Davis, Bruce was part of a community of comedians at the Comedy Store in the 1970's that included Jay Leno, David Letterman, Robin Williams, and other icons of comedy, many of whom appeared in his own student films and short films at the time. Bruce went on to become a sketch comedian on Sunday Comics and Comic Strip Live and then a two year sting on ABC's America's Funniest People. Known for his "Babyman" character, he went on to play him in his film, The Adventures of Babyman: Born To Be Raised. Bruce has served as a creative consultant on ABC's Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and appeared as himself on The Simpsons, Hollywood Squares, Full House, Growing Pains, Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime and more. Through extensive exposure on television, film, radio, and live performances, Bruce Baum has built a solid national audience, headlining regularly in Las Vegas, and top venues (and some not so top venues) around the globe. Today my guest is the brilliant, Jordan. Sharpiro. Jordan Shapiro, PhD is a globally celebrated American thought leader. He's senior fellow for the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop , and Nonresident Fellow in the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution . His Forbes' column (2012-17) on global education, learning through digital play, kids and culture was read by over 5 million people around the world. He is an international speaker and consultant whose fresh perspective combines psychology, philosophy, and economics in unexpected ways. His book, The New Childhood: Raising Kids To Thrive in a Connected World (Little, Brown Spark 2018) changed the cultural conversation about parenting and screen time. In his upcoming book, Father Figure: How to be a Feminist Dad (Little, Brown Spark 2021), Shapiro offers a norm-shattering perspective on fatherhood, family, and gender essentialism. This thoughtful exploration of dad-psychology—presented from an archetypal perspective—challenges our familiar assumptions about the origins of so-called traditional parenting roles. There are hundreds of books on parenting, but when it comes to books about parenting identity, rather than the nuts and bolts of raising children, nearly all are about what it's like to be a mother. Father Figure fills that gap. It teaches dads how to embrace the joys of fathering while guiding toward an image of manliness for the modern world. Shapiro has worked an adviser and strategist to the United States Air Force, helping Air University's eSchool develop pedagogical practices that promote sophisticated 21st century “habits of mind.” He created Thomas Edison State University's flagship online course, “Critical Thinking with Video Games,” an interdisciplinary learning experience designed for adult learners, that draws connections between the classic texts of the Western academic tradition and the narrative and mechanic components of today's most popular video games. During the week, you can find him in the classroom at Temple University, where he teaches in the Intellectual Heritage Program and developed the online version of the university's core curriculum. Asked to list his favorite texts to teach, he doesn't hesitate, “Plato's Republic and Freud's Civilization and its Discontents. It's amazing to see young adults discover how old ideas can remain so relevant even in such a new world.” Shapiro is an expert adviser to the World Economic Forum, and a participant in China's Taihe Civilization Forum. He's also a member of the academy that judges the Varkey Foundation's Global Teacher Prize. And he serves on the advisory board of the exclusive global think tank, Symi Symposium, led by former Greek prime minister George Papandreou. He regularly travels around the world, delivering keynote addresses at international conferences hosted by organizations like UNESCO's Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP). A Philadelphia native, Jordan is a graduate of Friends Select School, a small Quaker college preparatory school. He earned his bachelor's degree at Bard College, where he studied closely with Lithuanian filmmaker/artist Adolfas Mekas and Judaism/religion scholar Jacob Neusner. He earned his doctorate in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, where he studied phenomenology with legendary American philosopher Edward S. Casey (former president of the American Philosophical Association). Before graduate school, Jordan dreamed of becoming a chef. His first job, as a teenager, was as a prep-cook at Jack's Firehouse, a long-time Philadelphia institution. He quickly worked his way up to the position of head line cook. Next, he took a gap year between high-school and college, to work with celebrity chef Bobby Flay at New York City's Mesa Grill and Mesa City restaurants. After college, Jordan became owner/operator of the Reading Terminal Market's Down Home Diner. In 2008, he sold his stake in that business to shift his focus to education and public service. At parties, Jordan has been known to humble-brag about winning the $10,000 grand prize on Television's America's Funniest People when he was thirteen years old. Along with his best friend, he sang an original song called “What Part of the Pig Does the Hot Dog Come From? ” Find out more about Jordan on his website https://www.jordanshapiro.org And you can find some fun stuff he posts on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jordosh/ I have so much gratitude for everyone who has been listening to the Joyfull Parenting Podcast and joining the community of supporters at https://www.patreon.com/user?u=40232525 ! Approximately two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the one and only Tawny Kitaen in what I can only assume is one of her last interviews ever. Tawny was full of life, happy, generous, pleasant. We talked for almost two hours. She followed up after in a series of texts, as kind and sweet as can be. She lit up when she talked about her daughters which were clearly her greatest accomplishment in life.Tawny went to her first rock concert at age 14, saw how the singer’s girlfriend got full VIP access and treatment and decided, “hey, I want that.” Tawny went out and made that happen. A rocker gal by nature, Tawny dated the guitarist from Ratt while in high school. From there she graduated, and “graduated”, by marrying Whitesnake’s lead singer. Although they divorced years later, she is most notorious for being “that girl” in the Whitesnake video. With that career defining moment she went from “groupie” to wife and celebrity. Choreographer Paula Abdul took one look at Tawny’s moves on the set of the Whitesnake video shoot and said, “you don’t need my help” and left! Tawny graced our small screens with roles on many of the beloved shows including Seinfeld (who she also dated), Married...With Children and America’s Funniest People. Before it was the “cool” thing to do, Tawny transitioned from “actress” to reality star starring in VH1s “The Surreal Life” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew”. Speaking of Reality TV, who could forget Tawny’s 2017 appearance on E’s mega-hit Botched with Doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif. Of course, there was also that star studded role with Tom Hanks in Bachelor Party. What follows is an unedited, almost two hour, chat with Tawny as she shares stories from a life well lived opening up about career and personal highs, some of which have never before been revealed. She discusses the book which she was working on because, as stated, “if I don't write my life story, somebody else is going to, and they're going to do it off of sound clips, that aren't true and aren't real about me. So it's really, really important that I get my book out.” Hopefully this interview can help accomplish that just a little.@tawnykitaenofficial@behindvelvetrope@davidyontefBonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetropeBrought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Actress and model Tawny Kitaen has been seen in such films as ‘Bachelor Party', ‘Witchboard', ‘White Hot', and ‘Malibu', as well as the TV shows ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', ‘The New WKRP in Cincinnati', ‘Married... With Children', ‘America's Funniest People', and ‘Seinfeld', appearing as Jerry's girlfriend in the episode “The Nose Job”. Tawny is well known for her featured spots in several Whitesnake videos, including ‘Here I Go Again' and ‘Is This Love', as well as her appearance in Ratt's video ‘Back For More' and their album covers for “Ratt” and “Out of the Cellar”. Tawny is available to record custom greetings at Cameo.com and her autobiography is due to be released later this year.

"My goal is to be the teacher I would have wanted when I was learning to do stand-up." - Bill Word Bill Word has been doing standup comedy since 1991. Bill has been featured on “ABC’s America’s Funniest People.” You have seen him on NBC, TLC and PBS. Bill was a panelist in the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. He has been featured on National Lampoon Comedy Radio numerous times. He is the executive producer and creator of Orange County's Funniest Person Contest™, Ultimate Laff-Down Comedy Competition™ and California’s Funniest Female Contest™. From the "Learn From My Mistakes" page on his website: SORRY LONG STORY BUT HAPPY ENDING. Late January 2016, I woke up around 5 am with the worst pain in my upper back. I couldn't go back to sleep. I tried ice and ibuprofen. Nothing worked. The pain was getting unbearable. I called 9-1-1. When I was with the paramedics and in the ER, I was screaming in pain, “Please help me!!!” They couldn’t give me any painkillers because they didn’t know what was wrong with me yet. My blood pressure was over 200/100!!! After x-rays and CT scan, a doctor told me that I had a tear in my aorta. I didn’t know what an aorta was, but it sounded serious. IT WAS!!! I was transferred to another hospital that could handle my condition. Couple days later they found two more aortic tears now three in total. I was getting worse. I was bleeding internally which if not fixed would kill me. I still remember the surgeon standing over my bed telling me that I needed surgery and that my family needed to get to the hospital ASAP. I thought, “Why? So, I could say goodbye to them? Get my affairs in order?” The surgeon told me that there was a 30% chance that I lose my left arm and 10% chance lose my legs because where the tears were in my aorta. Unfortunately, they had given me blood thinners to lower my BP. They couldn’t do the surgery on blood thinners because my blood wouldn’t clot. Now a balancing act, between needing surgery now and waiting for the “thinners” to get through my system. The first surgery was stopped because there was blood in my spinal fluid which could cause paralysis. I had to wait another 12 to 24 hours for surgery. Hopefully the “thinners” would be out of my system by then and I wouldn’t die before they could do surgery. The wait was scary but helped by the great love and support from my friends and family. I had over 300 posts on my Facebook page praying for me and wishing me well. The second surgery was successful. I now had extra hardware in me. Five stents in my aorta. Still had my left arm and legs. Three months later, I had a third surgery. This time I had an allergic reaction to the “dye” used to see the tears. I woke up from surgery with my arms tied to the bed and a tube down my throat. Not a pleasant experience to have the tube removed. Later the surgeon would tell me that he was afraid that he had lost me because of the allergic reaction. Now three years later, I have lost 35 lbs. since my surgery. Walk 5 to 10 miles a day. Eat a lot better. THE MORAL OF THE STORY?!?! I nearly died because didn’t take care of my health. More specifically control my hypertension (High Blood Pressure). I used to brag that I hadn’t been to the doctor in years. Realize now that wasn’t a good thing to brag about. Hypertension is called the silent killer. You only know something is wrong when something bad happens like a stroke, heart attack, tears in your aorta… Check your Blood Pressure recently? If it’s over 120/80 then act. Going back to science class, I'm reminded of Newton's Third Law which states “for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction.” Going back to ClubPharmacy, I'm reminded that the #1 killer of dreams is STRESS! She also lived and performed in New York City where she appeared at the nation's top comedy clubs such as “The Improvisation” and “Catch a Rising Star.” Kay Frances combines her years of standup comedy, her education and her passion for her message to offer a unique skill set not often found in one speaker. It's clean, relatable humor-with-a-message at its funniest! Critics and audiences agree, NY-based writer and stand-up comedian Michael Che is a star on the rise and a shooting star at that. This year he has already been named as one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Funniest People in 2013. Michael Che makes his Edinburgh Festival debut this year with his hour long show ‘Michael Che – Cartoon Violence’. His comedy uses humour to identify humanity in the most controversial actions. Whether it is a story about his friend “Homeless Dave,” or tackling relationship issues and why “like” is better than “love”: “People kill their loved ones all the time. Nobody ever kills people they like, though. Nobody’s watching you sleep through your bedroom window because you’re ‘pretty cool.’” Che’s act also digs deeper than the seemingly common topics he addresses by providing keen, yet jovial insight into larger issues like race relations, gay marriage and world hunger. A native of lower Manhattan, Che applies street culture to world issues with a delivery that The New York Times describes as "a reflective, laid-back stage presence with jokes that draw as much from his city upbringing…as from blunt, insightful points that bring the abstract into focus.” In March this year, Che was brought on as a writer for two instalments of NBC’s iconic Saturday Night Live. His romantic comedy parody “She’s Got a D!%k,” starring that week’s host Justin Timberlake, was a highlight of the March 9th episode. Che appears weekly on Vh1’s Best Week Ever and was featured on John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show on Comedy Central, Money from Strangers on MTV and as a recurring contestant on IFC's comedy game show Bunk. This year, he will be featured at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s South Beach Comedy Festival, The Moontower Comedy Festival, and Bonnaroo. At the end of last year Che made his Late Night television debut performing stand-up on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. Also in 2012, he created, wrote and starred in the original web series “The Realest Candidate” on Broadway Video’s YouTube channel, The Above Average Network. Che was crowned the winner of the New York’s Funniest Stand-Up competition at the 2012 New York Comedy Festival, and both Time-Out NY and Comedy Central have listed him as one of their "Comics To Watch." He headlines comedy clubs and colleges nationally and internationally. - Sara Shulman is the Founder and Editor of Comedy Blogedy, TEDxUCL speaker on 'The Power of Funny', former Head of Comedy at UCLU Rare FM and produces the Humour Me Comedy Podcast.
