The sisters are thrilled to talk with multi-grammy nominee Blessing Offor about Co-writes and publishing deals and what it means to be the 'genre of humanity' in this episode. Blessing is one of the kindest and most talented humans out there! Blessing Offor speaks to relatable experiences of struggle, triumph, life, and love from a distinctive perspective as a Nigerian-born, Connecticut-raised, and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Exhibiting virtuosic piano ability, honest songwriting, and a showstopping voice, his musical fluency and creative foresight are unmatched only more inspiring by his journey.   With five older siblings, Blessing left Nigeria at just six-years-old to live with his uncle in Connecticut. Glaucoma left him blind in one eye, and mom and dad felt he might find better medical care in the United States. He lost sight in the other eye at ten-years-old due to a water pistol accident. Nevertheless, Blessing dove into music. He devoured classics by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores and Barry White.  From a young age, Blessing had the natural ability to learn music by ear, developing incredible skill while quickly building his musical index.  Now, this international upbringing, unbelievable journey, quiet grind, and confluence of styles define his first full-length album, "My Tribe," that brings together soul, pop, R&B, and African styles in service of a universal sound--which he fittingly dubs "the genre of humanity." Creating Positive Social Impact As A Physician Entrepreneur - Dr. Navin Goyal, Co-founder of LOUD Capital

Today's guest fits into one of Raise the Line's favorite categories of people: physician entrepreneur. We've talked before on the podcast about the overlapping qualities of drive, curiosity, and desire for impact that both share, and that last trait is the core interest of Dr. Navin Goyal. A great example is OFFOR Health, a mobile healthcare company he co-founded that expedites care for children in the US who face long waits for procedures. “If you're a four-year-old with dental disease and you're on Medicaid, you have an average nine-to-twelve month wait to get into an operating room.  We can enable that procedure within one month,” says Goyal. His experience with OFFOR led to the formation of LOUD Capital, which allows Goyal and his partners to seek out other business opportunities that have a social impact. Since launching in 2015, LOUD has partnered with over seventy portfolio companies in healthcare and beyond. But despite his success, Goyal has embraced the concept of being an underdog, hence the title of the book about his journey, Physician Underdog, and his weekly newsletter Underdog for Good. Check out this episode with host Shiv Gaglani to find out why he likes the term, what qualities a potential investment needs to have to get him excited and what he sees as a key upside to having physicians working in a variety of industries. Mentioned in this episode:https://www.loud.vc/Underdog for Good NewsletterPhysician Underdog BookBeyond Physician

These lyrics are my words from my life. Musically, there's a lot of who I am! Last but not least, I wasn't afraid to be honest. There are some heartbreak songs, and there are some more ambiguous songs. This is music for the world. This is music for every universal feeling we have regardless of who we are. Ultimately, I tried to make a life record.” --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/support

I believe in the promises of God. I've seen God move in miraculous ways in Scripture and in my own life. But I also know from experience that sometimes things don't turn out how I prayed for or in the timing I had hoped for. Benjamin William Hastings and Blessing Offor actually address this in their song, "That's The Thing About Praise." Join me on the podcast as we look closely at a church family who didn't get the rescue they probably wanted but remained faithful. I can imagine the only way through it for them was a hallelujah. In this episode, I discuss the following: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture – this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Make a list Read the whole letter Pray Scripture The Episode Guide for this week's podcast Considering the limitations of sermons that don't prepare you to endure affliction Recognizing that when we sing "the only way through it is a hallelujah," it means we are removing the focus from our situation to worship God Areas of Scripture you might study as inspired by the bridge of the song Matthew 6 - seek first Matthew 17 - faith moves mountains 2 Chronicles 20 - the battle was one through praise Joshua 6 - the walls fell down The Thessalonians received the gospel in suffering and held true to the gospel in suffering - 1 Thessalonians 1:1-7 Making a list of the characteristics of the Thessalonian church The culture-changing effect of the gospel on the Thessalonian church - 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10 An especially brutal kind of affliction -- the personal kind - 1 Thessalonians 2:13-16 What Paul didn't say to encourage the Thessalonian church - 1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:5 Praise tucked into Paul's prayer for the Thessalonian church - 1 Thessalonians 3:9-12 Using Psalm 27 to pray Scripture during times of affliction   He deserves our hallelujah, and everything else fades away because we are giving our praise to Yahweh. We are extolling the greatness--the excellence--of our great God. When we look at the greatness of God, it puts everything else into perspective.     Additional Resources Lyrics to "That's The Thing About Praise" by Benjamin William Hastings and Blessing Offor - NewReleaseToday.com My new favorite Bible Study Software - Logos Bible Software Affiliate Link This Week's Challenge Read the entire first letter to the Thessalonians in one sitting. Then interact with the text. Make a list of the characteristics of this body of believers. Make a list of the opposition against them (internally and externally). Make a list of how Paul is exhorting them to respond even if their suffering doesn't relent. Hop over to Psalm 27 and incorporate David's words into your own prayer life. Lift a shout of joy to the Lord with music—singing your praise to Him. Allow the Lord to refocus your attention on His goodness and the opportunities around you to love.

Why do individuals, organizations, institutions, nations, or responsible agents work hard to preserve their personal and enterprise data, personnel information, trade secrets, intellectual properties, technical know-how, or national data, yet easily trade on the individual and enterprise data and national data of others? To understand and answer the question appropriately, one must examine the underlying of the Information Privacy Realities Contradiction Theory (IPRCT), which is integral to (1) our natural unity of opposites, (2) our material dialectic mechanism or struggle of choosing from the opposites, and (3) the role of our self-interest in time and circumstance. Many of you may know singer/songwriter, Blessing Offor, as the outstanding vocalist who sang so strongly he had all four judges turn their chairs around. Although his talent is something only dreams are made of, it's his sroty of hardship and then his positive outlook on life that makes him the magnetic human that he is. Blessing was born without vision in his left eye and lost vision in his right eye in an accident as a young boy. To most, this would be a tragedy hard to recover from, for Blessing it was his call to channel that hardship into purpose. "If you told me I had the chance to do that moment (losing vision in his right eye) all over again, I would say, where do I stand? I would do it exactly as it happened, because that moment is the moment that shaped me into who I am today." Blessing talks about the one question he asks himself when he is having a hard time or bad day/moment: "We put so much energy into what's wrong, like the traffic, and what I know is that it's never really about the traffic. There is always something deeper that's actually going on." His favorite quote:"Grief carves a canyon, so that joy can overflow it." And the best tidbit his therapist ever pointed out to him about the human condition: "Sitting with yourself is a truly POWERFUL thing." Blessing also tells Chip and Kelly about his musical inspirations, new music coming up and where listeners can go on the journey with him. website: blessingoffor.com  socials: @blessingoffor  Follow Kelly: @velvetsedge  Follow Chip: @chipdorsch Email: theedge@velvetsedge.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is crazy. I have requested artist, Blessing Offor, on the podcast for 6 months and...crickets. Then last week, he walked into my studio unannounced on a radio tour, and I just hit record! No prep, no planning, no makeup, messy hair, no cameras just a GREAT authentic conversation about how to deal with the plot twists of life. YOU WILL LOVE HIM! He shares how he processed loosing his sight, but still chased down his dream to become a musician...and empowering YOUR to push through whatever plot twist your life might be facing right now...because as Blessing says, "God doesn't tell boring stories"4 Ways to Not Park in Your Pain & Put Your Life in Drive Again1. "When you get to the point where whatever you've been through is just a fact of who you are and nothing to bring you've down then you've reached healing." -3. As a musician, there is often a desire to prove that you are the best at what you do. But sometimes, breaking things down to the basics and keeping it simple is what resonates with an audience. This week James and Ayiesha have the pleasure of talking with Dove Award nominee Blessing Offor. Blessing shares his journey from practicing vocal runs in his bedroom to impress a girl, to performing on The Voice, and eventually making it onto the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Chart with his single ‘Brighter Days' from his debut EP. Although all of these blessings have been exciting to experience, Blessing finds not paying much attention to the greater things allows him to find inspiration through the simple things. Over the past several years, 90% of the new hires Offor has matched have come from black, asian, or latinx backgrounds. Ify is an attorney turned entrepreneur, driven by her desire to give people of color fair opportunities in the corporate world. She speaks about Offor's mission, gives insights about racial injustice, and debunks myths surrounding people of color in the workplace. Two such myths are that the lack of diversity in the workplace is attributed to the lack of talent in communities of color, and that hiring is a meritocracy. In reality, research shows that companies hire people in their networks, and that the majority of white Americans only know one other black person.  Resources Ify Walker on LinkedIn | Twitter Email: ify@offor.co Offor.co
