This week on Serialously with Annie Elise, it started as an ordinary night among friends—but ended in one of the most harrowing and brutal crimes in modern history. In December 2000, five friends in Wichita, Kansas were suddenly ambushed in their own home by two armed intruders. Over the course of several hours, they were terrorized, humiliated, and forced to do the unthinkable to one another, all while being driven to their own execution. What unfolded was a chilling display of cruelty and control, known today as the Wichita Massacre. Why were they targeted—and how did one survivor live to tell the story?

The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey. Set in England in 1979, identical 13 year old triplets are part of a Government scheme where they're constantly monitored and medicated. They're overseen by Mothers Morning, Afternoon and Night who teach them from the Book of Knowledge, keep records in the Book of Dreams, and write up their misdemeanours in The Book of Guilt. There's a slow, insidious creep to the narrative and when the Minister for Loneliness decides more social interaction would be good for them, they're sent to visit a family who have secrets and a shocking connection to these boys, as they discover that the world they thought they knew is an entire fiction. From the author of the award winning The Axeman's Carnival, this is remarkable. The Good Mistress by Anne Tiernan. Set in Ireland, this is the story of three women who knew one another as young girls and went on to have very separate lives. Juliet is mourning the loss of her lover, Rory, with whom she'd had a long affair, and who died suddenly; Erica is mourning the loss of her husband, and Maeve mourns the loss of the happy marriage she once had which over time has become increasingly unhappy. They meet up again when Juliet travels from her home in Auckland for Rory's funeral, and find they need to reconcile the realities of love, betrayal and the limits of forgiveness. This is an update from Episode #155 & # 163 & #201 & #223 & the last one posted on 11th July 2024 after Scott's Daughter was murdered in the hospital. Now he has taken a landmark lawsuit. Previous Episode https://www.awakeningpodcast.org/update-an-landmark-covid-court-case-scott-schara/#covidlawsuit #hospitalcorruption #gracesdadAbout my Guest:Grace's dad, Scott Schara, is working tirelessly to bring his daughter's story to all corners of this country, and even across the world to Australia, to help prevent anyone else from going through the pain of losing a loved one at the hands of medical personnel. More importantly, he hopes Grace's story will stir people's hearts to turn to the Lord – the only one who will protect them into eternity. Grace, a 19-year-old girl with Down syndrome was killed by the actions of unethical medical personnel. Scott had to watch Grace die on FaceTime because he was prevented from being with her in the hospital, and no doctor or nurse would help save her life because of an illegal Do Not Resuscitate order placed on Grace without family consent. The good news is Grace's work here on earth isn't done. It's only beginning. The love she demonstrated to everyone when she was with us continues to live on through Scott and his family. This week on Serialously with Annie Elise, tune into the notorious case of Boston police officer John O'Keefe, who was found lifeless in the snow outside a quiet suburban home. His girlfriend, Karen Read, became the immediate suspect—accused of running him over with her SUV and leaving him to die in a blizzard. As the case unfolded, whispers of a cover-up, corrupt investigators, and missing evidence began to surface. Karen claimed she was being framed, while others insisted she was hiding the truth. A lead investigator was later fired, texts were uncovered, and the cracks in the prosecution's case grew deeper. Now, as her highly anticipated retrial begins in 2025, the stakes are even higher and the mystery more twisted. Was Karen a killer in plain sight—or the fall girl for something she didn't do?
