This week on Drive-In Double Feature, Nathan and Ryan punch in for a graveyard shift filled with gore as they slash into Intruder (1989), a cult horror gem set in a closing supermarket. Directed by Scott Spiegel and featuring cameos from Sam and Ted Raimi, this splatterfest is packed with inventive kills, a twisted sense of humor, and more meat slicers than safety regulations. The hosts dig into its low-budget charm, impressive practical effects, and why it deserves a spot on every slasher fan's watchlist.

Evil Dead II (also known in publicity materials as Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn) is a 1987 American comedy horror film directed by Sam Raimi, who co-wrote it with Scott Spiegel. The second installment in the Evil Dead film series, it is considered both a remake and sequel (or "re-quel") to The Evil Dead (1981). It stars Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, who vacations with his girlfriend to a remote cabin in the woods. He discovers an audio tape of recitations from a book of ancient texts, and when the recording is played, it unleashes a number of demons which possess and torment him.

Written and directed by EVIL DEAD II scribe Scott Spiegel and featuring appearances by Bruce Campbell and both Sam and Ted Raimi, this supermarket slasher has the same scrappy spirit and gruesome gore of Raimi's legendary works. The JofA podcast took a road trip last week to the Future of Finance Summit, catching up with several leaders on highlights from the event and reflections on its growth since the first event in Nashville, Tenn., in 2021. Tom Hood, CPA/CITP, CGMA, executive vice president–Business Growth and Engagement at AICPA & CIMA, leads off this compilation episode, sharing a favorite quote and how it applies to the summit's themes. He and other speakers explain how a growing community of leaders is applying the knowledge of the crowd to guide their organizations in transformative times. Other speakers in this episode: n Carrie Kruse, CPA, CGMA, economic development administrator for the city of Des Moines, Iowa; n Scott Spiegel, CPA, CGMA, COO for AICPA & CIMA; and n Kelly Lorenz, AICPA & CIMA's associate director–Business Growth and Engagement. The episode is the first of several that will focus on Future of Finance speakers and sessions, so be on the lookout for more, starting Thursday and continuing into 2024. What you'll learn from this episode: · Hood's summary of the event's growth over the years. · Why Cruse considers the event the “top professional development opportunity of the year.” · The reasons Spiegel is more energized now about a new finance apprenticeship program. · Why the summit's idea-sharing has been a “gold mine of opportunity” for finance leaders, according to Lorenz.

Intruder" is a 1989 horror film directed by Scott Spiegel. The movie is notable for its intense and gory scenes. It's set in a supermarket and follows a group of employees who are stalked and brutally murdered by an unknown assailant after they close for the night. The film takes a simple premise and turns it into a thrilling, blood-soaked extravaganza. The setting in a supermarket after hours is both unique and claustrophobic, setting the stage for a tense and bloody night. The practical effects in "Intruder" are nothing short of astonishing for its time, showcasing creative kills that have since become iconic in the horror genre. The supermarket setting is ingeniously utilized, creating a sense of eerie isolation after hours. As the night unfolds, tension builds with each flickering fluorescent light, leading to a crescendo of gore. Sam Raimi's involvement in the special effects department ensures that each kill is a memorable work of gruesome art. Character development takes a backseat to the relentless suspense and inventive brutality, and it works to the film's advantage. The enigmatic identity and motivations of the assailant keep you engaged, while the plot twists and turns add an extra layer of intrigue. Intruder is a hidden gem in the realm of '80s horror and slasher films. What makes "Intruder" stand out is its commitment to practical effects, masterminded by none other than the legendary Sam Raimi and his crew. The kills have become iconic in the horror genre, and continue to influence horror filmmakers today. While "Intruder" might not be a household name, its cult following is well-deserved. It's a visceral rollercoaster ride through a supermarket of horrors, offering a satisfying blend of suspense, creative kills, and practical effects. If you're a devotee of '80s horror and can stomach a fair amount of gore, "Intruder" is a must-see that will leave an indelible mark on any horror enthusiast. Intruder is a must-watch that will leave an indelible mark on your horror-loving soul.

The incorrigible inebriates at DTS are confused to announce that we are now filming in front of a live studio audience! If you prefer your comedy situational, then we sure have something for you to sit through. Don't worry, just turn your mind off and laugh when the person next to you does. Did you say you're alone in a dark room with a drugpipe in one hand and a 64oz Mellow Yellow in the other? Then let us be your tour guides on this journey to prosperity. Remember kid, only shooting stars break the mold. Oh, and this episode's feature review is the 1989 Scott Spiegel supermarket smashterpiece “INTRUDER”! It's got Bruce Campbell and some Raimi's involved, so you know this isn't your grandma's weekly trip to the local Food Lion. Hide your kids, hide your wife, and tape up your orifices just to be safe, because the INTRUDER is coming, and he's hungry for fresh produce. That's not a metaphor.
Mathius the iLL and Rated-PG got yet another great Full Moon picture coming at ya - well, kinda. Technically, it was an Empire Pictures movie but, potato tomato. This episode we have Scott Spiegel's 1989 awesomeness - INTRUDER. Stars our favorites like Sam & Ted Rami, Emilio Estevez's sister, Renee Estevez (who knew) and some other cool cameos. This one gives some some really cool camera work, fucking awesome kill scenes and a tie back to Raising Arizona (the fuck!?)... come check it out.

October is upon us and we here at Cinema Degeneration thought it was time for another Appreciation Month topic! We bring to you a celebration of 'Single Serving Slashers', slasher movies that never got a sequel. There are plenty of chapters in the sagas of Chucky, Jason, and Freddy; however, we wanted to honor those often overlooked slashers that only graced the screen in one thrilling film. For our 4th slice of murderous mayhem we continue the 80's theme with "INTRUDER" from 1989 directed by Scott Spiegel. This killer after hours flick set in a grocery store stars the late great Danny Hicks, with supporting roles filled out by Bruce Campbell, Sam and Ted Raimi, and Renee Estevez. We have a lot of love for this flick and the incomparable Danny Hicks here and are ecstatic to finally be covering it. Join hosts Cameron Scott and filmmaker Rebecca Rinehart (Tin Roof, The Embalmers) as they take a deep dive into this maniacal gem that proves working the night crew can be deadly. "I couldn't let anyone get in the way... and... I guess I got a little carried away!"

Matt and Brian jump into a movie about an evil intruder that makes a lot of people dead but without all the soul swallowing Deadites! That's right! The hosts are talking about the horror movie Intruder directed by Scott Spiegel! They go over how Matt cannot stand commercials and refuses to watch something for free, maybe the reason why Netflix is bleeding subscribers might have to do with they constant cancellation of new shows, the chaotic kills that get worse and worse, the boneheaded marketing that spoiled the movie because of the poster and trailer, getting fired from past employment, the dingy grocery store and how you should not eat anything from it along with so much more!

This week Mike, Rich and Steve take a look at a couple of films currently available on Netflix. First up is LAST MAN DOWN, starring bodybuilder-turned-actor Daniel Stizen. Then we have THE DIESEL, an Egyptian action film about a stuntman who becomes embroiled in a weird conspiracy... We also check out INCARNATION, starring Taye Diggs and Michael Madsen, involving a couple who move into a new house only to find themselves sucked into demonic shenanigans! Mike and Rich then attempt to review ZEROS AND ONES, the latest film from Abel Ferrara and starring Ethan Hawke. Its certainly a ...ahem...challenging film in that it challenges you to find anything to recommend it, and is certainly worth watching just for Ethan Hawke's own reaction to it at the end! We're on much firmer ground with our Short Shot, as its directed by Park Chan Wook! LIFE IS BUT A DREAM sees a village undertaker rob a grave of its coffin, only to be haunted by its occupant, a long dead swordsman, who forces the undertaker to explain himself. Not only is this a great little film but it was (mostly) shot using the latest iPhone! Click the link to watch the whole film! We wrap up with our DTV Throwback - INTRUDER is directed by Scott Spiegel and contains a lot of his directorial motifs such as shooting strange POV angles. It does surprise me though that this isn't a more well-known slasher! (Warning - the trailer gives away who the killer is!}. This film is currently available on the SHUDDER streaming service. Follow the Short Shots TWITTER page, where we will be linking to a short film every day! Don't forget to also check out our main show, the DTV DIGEST on TWITTER and FACEBOOK!

Business as usual in a cabin in the woods?

Tudo aqui.
We're going to start the year by focusing on a Scott Spiegel film from 1989. This is a cheese filled slasher that came WAY late in the game. It is, essentially most of the crew that gave us Evil Dead 2 returning to give us an ultra low budget last hurrah of 80s gory goodness. We hope you enjoy our Horror 101 treatment of Intruder. Conrad and Dan visit one of the scariest places in the world right now – a suburban grocery store – to check out a lesser-known horror thriller from the creative team behind The Evil Dead movies: Intruder (1989). The night shift staff of Walnut Lake Market are being picked off one by one by a bloodthirsty maniac, but is it the leatherclad bad boy ex-boyfriend of plucky final checkout girl, Jennifer, or someone much more unexpected? Featuring notorious gruesome death sequences and small roles for Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell, is Scott Spiegel's tongue-in-cheek video nasty a bargain bin gem or a footnote in the Book of the Dead?

This week’s flyer special is… murder! We’re talking about Scott Spiegel’s 1989 grocery store slasher INTRUDER! This grizzly gem stars Elizabeth Cox, Renee Estevez, Burr Steers, Sam Raimi & Ted Raimi as the night crew of a grocery store who are being picked off by a shadowy killer. With good death sequences, interesting camera work and likeable characters this is a pretty solid slasher. Plus, it has a Bruce Campbell cameo!
This time around, we're tackling the Scott Spiegel debut, INTRUDER. Listen as we discuss this tale of a killer running rampant among a grocery store night crew, and see if you agree with us or not!
