Manu Delago is, hands down, the MOST influential handpan player in the world. He's been playing since 2003 and has introduced the world to a very percussive and professional style of playing. Manu was also the first player to introduce our amazing instrument to the world high level collaboration. He's got 15 full length albums starting with "Made in Silence" in 2006 up to his most recent release of "Enviorn Me" in 2021. If you're not familiar with his personal catalog...maybe you've heard him with one of his many collaborators such as Björk, Anoushka Shankar, Ellie Goulding, or Shpongle. In this episode, we hear about his beginnings in music, his path to developing his playing style, how he began working with other musicians, and much more! We also got a more in-depth understanding of his instruments, his personal set-up, and what he brings on tour. In other HUGE news, Manu is releasing a Masterclass on MasterTheHandpan starting on May 26th where he gives an incredible look behind the curtain of his biggest songs, the stories behind some of his biggest collaborative projects, how he develops ideas for his albums, and MUCH more! For the 100th episode of Comes A Time, Joe Russo joins Mike and Oteil to talk about the wonders of transcendental meditation, Joe's discovery of the limitless nature of Grateful Dead music through Joe Russo's Almost Dead, and why JRAD is constantly looking for new ways to challenge one another. Joe also tells the guys about jamming with Trey Anastasio, Scott Metzger, Dave Dreiwitz, and Jeff Tansky to help Trey prepare for Fare Thee Well, how playing with Fat Mama changed his approach to drumming, and Oteil and Joe talk about the importance of having an open mind as they each trace their respective musical trajectories.Joe Russo has been involved in many extraordinary musical ventures throughout his career- Furthur, Benevento/Russo Duo, and Shpongle to name a few- but he has gained monumental praise from jam band fans over the last 9 years for his sensational drumming in Joe Russo's Almost Dead. JRAD takes the music of The Grateful Dead to new heights through deeply experimental improvisation, and Russo has been at the helm of the group since its inception. Over the past few years Russo has put out several new collections of music including his 2019 debut solo album Phér•bŏney, as well as a collaboration EP with Circles Around The Sun, several singles, and has performed with Shpongle for their farewell concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. -----------*DISCLAIMER: This podcast does NOT provide medical advice. The Narrow Band Broadcast Network presents: KEEP YOUR (SLIGHTLY LARGER) HAT ON! Bonus bits that didn't make it into a show, but are still funny, and still about nothing in particular. In this episode: It's Andrew's time to spin the decks. He takes Chris, Robert, and Dr Mark deep into the musical ocean of modern electronic music production, which then devolves (or evolves, depending on your views) into talk of psychedelic drugs, natch. Dan's music is centered around an instrument called the "Handpan", an instrument created in 2001 in Switzerland. He tells us about how difficult it initially was to even find a handpan in the world, and his early experiences with homemade instruments made in places like Siberia and Italy out of peoples garage. Dan also discusses his career shift and how mastering the hanpan allowed him to eventually pursue music full time. Determined to push the limits of music revolving around this instrument, Dan's playing style is both beautifully melodic and intensely percussive. He brings his 18 years of percussion experience to create a stylistic approach that invites the listener to experience elements of multiple genres of music all housed in one easily digestible format, while keeping the handpan as the centerpiece of his compositions. In addition to multiple solo tours across Australia, Europe and the USA, Mulqueen has also shared the stage with Shpongle for two sold out concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and collaborated with artists such as Mereba, Long Arm, Zebbler Encanti Experience and many more. Zebbler Encanti Experience (aka “ZEE”) is an audio/visual collaboration between video artist Zebbler and electronic music producer Encanti, based out of Boston, Massachusetts and Valencia, Spain. The Experience is an immersive performance of mapped visuals on three custom winged projection screens, synchronized with heavy peak-hour psychedelic bass music, resulting in the creation of a fantasy world for audiences to lose themselves in. Zebbler Encanti Experience released a critically-acclaimed EP, End Trance, on standout bass label Wakaan, coupled with a performance at the inaugural Wakaan Festival. Coming out of the pandemic, ZEE released Syncorswim on longtime label Gravitas Recordings, which is a full audio-visual album exploring the ambient, glitchy, and IDM side of the project. Beautiful natural visuals accompany gorgeous, synth-heavy grooves. This different perspective gives fans a whole new look at what an A/V project can be. ZEE have seen a considerable amount of road time in the last few years, serving as integral members of multiple tour teams. The architect behind the projection mapped projects for Shpongle and EOTO, and assisting with Infected Mushroom's stage construction, Zebbler has toured the United States nonstop producing visual shows and performing as a VJ at hundreds of high profile events. In addition to ZEE performing as direct touring support for EOTO in venues throughout the country, and performing in the Shpongle Live band during their first few shows in the United States and final appearance at Red Rocks, Encanti has carved out some time to teach electronic music production to graduate students in the Valencia, Spain wing of Berklee College of Music. In the fervent, prolific, always evolving field of popular electronic music, genres rise, shine, and set—often with alarming speed. So it's reassuring to know that the relatively long-running streams of Psychedelic and Trance music have embraced the cool sonorities and spatial sound images of Ambient—giving birth to the variously named hybrids Psybient, Psytrance, or just Psy. It's a realm worth exploring. On this transmission of Hearts of Space—what happened when Psytrance Met Ambient, on a program called ADVENTURES IN PSYBIENT. It's a love story, with music by SHPONGLE, AROKEM, MASTER MARGHERITA, LAB'S CLOUD, BLUETECH, ADHAM SHAIKH, and ISHQ. [ view program page ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

This week on Eric Krasno Plus One, Eric talks with drum-phenom Joe Russo. Russo has been involved in many extraordinary musical ventures throughout his career- Furthur, Benevento/Russo Duo, and Shpongle to name a few- but he has gained monumental praise from jam band fans over the last 8 years for his sensational drumming in Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. JRAD takes the music of The Grateful Dead to new heights through deeply experimental improvisation and sky-brushing peaks, and Russo has been at the helm of the group since its inception.Over the last few years Russo has put out several new collections of music including his 2019 debut solo album Phér•bŏney, as well as a collaboration EP with Circles Around The Sun, several singles, and has performed with Shpongle for their farewell concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The rhythm guru has been busy, but quarantine has allowed him to spend time with his family, which he says he’s very-much enjoyed. In this episode, Kraz and Russo engage in a wide-ranging discussion that covers the early days of the Benevento/Russo Duo, playing with Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio of Phish, the formation of JRAD, Joey’s unconventional method of learning Dead songs, and much more. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. In this colorful and psychedelic episode, we dive into intimate untold stories, mystic secrets and wise advice about how our souls don't die yet leave traces of beauty and creativity. Raja Ram is an extraordinary musician born in Melbourne, Australia. He's a founding member of the psychedelic rock band Quintessence of the late 1960's. Raja also joined the psychedelic project Shpongle with Simon Posford in the early 1990s with shows full of light, color, rhythm and a high power level of positive vibes. He's one of the most remarkable figures of the Psychedelic Trance - also known as Psy music. Raja Ram is turning 80 next year and still active on large events and tours around the world. While others can only dream of keeping the groove he still shows us we can become even groovier overtime. YOU WILL LEARN You are your own guru We are all magical Leave traces of beauty and creativity QUESTIONS I ASK What does Raja Ram do for a ritual before he plays? What is Raja Ram's relationship to the planet Earth? How did Raja Ram get his name?

Road trips to nowhere, absinthe by diving enthusiasts, strange and awesome bars in faraway places, and bartenders who still think absinthe is either illegal or "not the real thing." All this and more on this brand new episode recorded August 13, 2019. Music at the end is by Shpongle. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/slowdeath/message
For the fans of ambient electronica such as Shpongle and Future sounds of London
Dear future listeners, the freshness of this episode is "high." Recorded on July 2, 2019, Dan and Jerry discuss why the Old Fashion cocktail is so dangerous, and Jerry professes his love for the Negroni (in all its various forms). Dan tells Jerry about The Wizard Academy in Texas -- we're talking bourbon, not Hogwarts. Jerry also professes his love for flute music, but we're talking Jethro Tull and Shpongle, not Yanni. Also discussed is the upcoming full legalization of marijuana in Illinois, the roots of the "420" reference, and ideas for turning absinthe bottles into lamps and maybe even fountains. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/slowdeath/message
Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful and unique contribution to sonic exploration. Often referred to as “The Master of Emotion” his music is patently beautiful and melodic. With diverse influences ranging from trip-hop, classical and Arabic to bass driven compositions, his songs are considered anthemic and timeless. As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, his tracks are organic, uplifting and stand on their own as a distinct genre. Listeners of all types of music can find something they can relate to in his sound. He has toured extensively across North America, including tours with Bassnectar, Shpongle, Emancipator, Beats Antique, and has headlined dozens of festivals across the U.S. and internationally. There is no doubt that Rab understands a multitude of musical styles. He has been the front man of a heavy metal band, toured as a classical trumpet player, played bass in a country music band, was a scratch DJ for a jazz fusion project, was the singer for a rock band in Mexico and has collaborated with countless musicians of all styles. From acoustic performances in the Himalayas to rocking packed clubs in New York, Random Rab has found a way to connect with people of all kinds. With a dedicated fanbase born from the San Francisco underground, Random Rab has become known world wide for his sunrise sets that have now become one of his most sought after performances. Having played before 3 solar eclipses and at the Pyramids of Giza, Random Rab has created a unique niche for his equally danceable, yet thought-provoking compositions. His current popularity can often be traced to his breakout album, The Elucidation of Sorrow and in particular his first hit, The Riddle and followed up by hits such as Release, Falling Tao, For My Corpse and Apparently. His critically acclaimed current and 10th album Formless Edge, catapulted him into the state of momentum that is now taking hold internationally. randomrab.com eastforest.org/podcast
Bruce Damer is a living legend and international man of mystery – specifically, the mystery of our cosmos, to which he’s devoted his life to exploring: the origins of life, simulating artificial life in computers, deriving amazing new plans for asteroid mining, and cultivating his ability to receive scientific inspiration from “endotripping” (in which he stimulates his brain’s own release of psychoactive compounds known to increase functional connectivity between brain regions). He’s about to work with Google to adapt his origins of life research to simulated models of the increasingly exciting hot springs origin hypothesis he’s been working on with Dave Deamer of UC Santa Cruz for the last several years. And he’s been traveling around the world experimenting with thermal pools, getting extremely close to actually creating new living systems in situ as evidence of their model. Not to mention his talks with numerous national and private space agencies to take the S.H.E.P.H.E.R.D. asteroid mining scheme into space to kickstart the division and reproduction of our biosphere among/between the stars…I find it amazing that anyone as potently psychedelic as Bruce gets the focused listening attention of audiences at NASA, Scientific American, Google, and numerous esteemed academic communities around the world. A late-career PhD who spent his early years designing software that changed the world and going on adventures with his dear friend Terence McKenna, talking to Bruce is an inspiration and reminder that the big questions really DO take the dedication of a lifetime – and that dedication DOES bear fruit.(Appropriately to the McKenna link, there were some connectivity issues during our call that stretched out Bruce’s voice in a way very reminiscent of the Shpongle grain delay remixes of Terence’s talks. I left these in because I think they’re funny and in keeping with the good doctor’s trippy ideas, but apologies regardless.)Bruce was the second guest of this show way back in Episode 4, but that was three years ago and his work (and my ability to discuss it with him) has developed considerably since then. Enjoy this high-level update about one of the deepest questions we have on the table, right now…the profound implications of this new model of life’s origins for everything from business and politics to the strategies for thriving through an age of worldwide turbulence and transition…Bruce’s Website:https://damer.comWe Discuss:• Updates on Bruce’s efforts to recreate the conditions of the original “progenote,” a living system before the invention of cells;• How modern life prevents a second “Genesis” from happening on the Earth;• Why life must have started in a wet-dry cycling pond, and not in the sea or on land;• The three properties of life: crowding/containment; networks; and information storage – or P,I,M: Probability, Interaction, Memory;• The origin of life as a niche-construction process;• The origin of life vs. the origin of individuality and competition – likelihood that started as integrated consortia, not free-living cells in resource conflict;• Scaling up the progenote origin of life hypothesis to human systems and the origins of human civilization with “social protocells”;• Does life require organic molecules, or is it primarily an informational process?• Are memes even a real thing? (Compared to genes, we can’t point to one…)• Working with Google to simulate the origins of life with a chemistry-modeling deep learning system;• The increasing evolvability of (some) genomes in ever-more complex environments leading to a transition from genetic to cultural inheritance;• How evolutionary networks can bump themselves off local fitness peaks and into novelty to prevent becoming over-adapted to tiny niches;• Cycles of federalism and fragmentation in both nature and society;• The possibility of a global plan to build sea walls – to make it an issue of national defense, and a better use of our time than border walls; • What can we learn from the origins of life about the future of planetary culture and the ongoing evolution of our “progenote planet?”SEE ALSO:Bruce on Future Fossils Podcast Episode 4:https://shows.pippa.io/futurefossils/episodes/5a85dca3144c44bd2557158bMichael’s Version 1.0 Mind Map & Bibliography of research on major evolutionary transitions in self-organizing systems:https://www.patreon.com/posts/toward-new-1-0-24798022Evolution Evolving Conference:https://evolutionevolving.org/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Thanks to Rev. Argus Faux for recording, somehow, the 8 hours of "radio" that happened at 20X-Day starting just before midnight, July 4, "2017," and ending about the time the world was supposed to end. It's all on an MP3 file that is EIGHT HOURS LONG, called "Suboxene Bloodstream Podcrust 3_01." The LAST four hours of it seems to be playbacks of weird edited canned SubGenius audio edits, but the first four hours feature that smooth talker Rev. Anna Maul and a rotating roster of "co-hosts" such as Rev. peas, Dr. Shoggoth and especially Rev. Fanboy (her most coherent co-host by far). The section we have started working with here is the first half of Hour Two. We have removed a few stretches of truly inside jokes, but otherwise it's unmolested. This episode also includes music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, Rev. Jimmy Ryan, Lothar and the Hand People, and The Rainmakers, and an intro barrage by Rev. Cool Hand Chris. Stang also explains his little sister's new vocabulary words for the various feathers on a dog, and reads some interesting sections from a National Geographic article about alcohol and human evolution, with background music by Shpongle.

Lisa Dewey fights for the title of “most woo woo guest” as she talks to Arash about the spiritual side of health, her experiences as a death doula and the status of women, both in and out of the Burner community. Also, Arash attempts not to be all whiny about his ex-girlfriend.
BOM! 00:00 01. Ephedrix - Astral Ignition (XSI remix) 07:11 02. Here we are in June, at the midway point between BoC 2014 and BoC 2015. You may be thinking to yourself, 'This mix is just going to have a bunch of jams from last year'. FALSE! Classics never die, and this year I've packed a ton of classics into a feel-good, early morning set, which is sure to delight. Bask in the aural bliss of Orbital. Smile as Love Tattoo takes you back to a classic Oakenfold mix from the 90s. (*Pro-tip: there's a lyric in this original version that you never heard in the Oakenfold mix. Can you find it?) Levitate with Shpongle. And freak the eff out on the Harlem Shake. Enjoy! -- Trav

Gunslinger is a genre-jumping group of musicians/producers and DJs. Forged by the musings of Anthem and mad tinkering of Vidal, Anthem (from Southern California) and Vidal (from Lisbon Portugal) originally met online and worked together sending music files back and forth for a year until an O-1 artist visa was secured. As DJs they have opened for some of the biggest names in dance including Tiesto, Pendulum and Shpongle. As a live rocktronica band they have toured the U.S., Mexico, Australia and Brazil with Infected Mushroom. In 2010 they teamed up with Last Gang Records for the release for their debut CD, “Early Volumes 1,” an epic song oriented journey through the worlds of electro, trance, and rock. Their electro house EP “The Ripper” went to #2 on the Beatport charts while their remix of “Blues Traveler's” Runaround was so well liked by the band that it was put on their 25th anniversary Universal release. With a new full-length rocktronica album released in April, new DJ music and an official remix of the The Doors – Waiting For The Sun, the group plans to have a very busy upcoming year. Whether it's a live show of guitar, synths and drums or a slamming DJ set, Gunslinger aims to please. TRACKLISTING1. Gunslinger - The Ripper (BugEyed Records) 2. True to form we're all over the map this week on HSS. We kick it off Malian style with a head nodder by Vieux Farka Toure. The gears get decidedly shifted as switch into some dark beats courtesy of Phaeleh. The identity crisis continues as we jump into Beirut and then we settle down into some Doomtree hiphop. Second half of the show is all bass. A brand new one from Shpongle leads us into some Phutureprimitive. Personal highlight of the week comes next with the big bass and beats from Gramatik and we close it with a gnarly and heavy one from the mighty Reso. Yesssss. Even though I bought a festival pass for this year's Bluesfest in Ottawa, I was actually able to get this episode done before I go out and see A Perfect Circle tonight. Highlights so far include Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Skrillex and Soundgarden. I strongly disagree with them keeping the Bluesfest name even though half of the major acts booked during the festival aren't even Blues, but what can you do.I hope you enjoy this week's episode!Clan of Xymox - She Did Not AnswerDaybehavior - Silent Dawn (Parralox Remix)Dismantled - Kill or Be KilledAccessory - Shout It OutSiva Six - Valley of the ShadowsGod Module - RitualsSonik Foundry - VaporizeKant Kino - Owner of This House Lives HereSchwarzblut - Die Eine KlageJuno Reactor - Mona Lisa Overdrive (Thomas P Heckmann Remix)Freakangel - My Darling BulletExtize - HeadQuakeModulate - Hard and DirtyConsumer Junk - Lot Lizard

This is a dark mix that teeters between dupstep and psychadelic dub, weaving between the likes of Pinch and Kode 9 alongside Shpongle and Ashtech. Laswell, Tosca, Cex, Deadbeat and others round out the low end.

A night under the stars DSNight 13 - Shpongle Best Of Mix Part 2 Related: DSNight 08 - Shpongle Best Of Mix Part 1 https://soundcloud.com/chillinspace/dsnight-08-2006 Shpongle is an English psychedelic music project formed in 1996. The group includes Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project). The duo are considered to be one of the progenitors of the psybient genre - a genre combining world music with psychedelic trance and ambient. Their musical style combines traditional music from all over the globe and vocals with contemporary western synthesizer-based psychedelic music. When asked to describe Shpongle's music, Posford has responded that it is "like nothing you've ever heard before." A lazy ethnic vide permeates this mix, from the psychedelic noodling of Shpongle to the beat insanity of Tabla Beat Science, and from the Japanese rhythms of Kodo to the fusion electronica of Karsh Kale. Inbetween are some usual and not so usual suspects.
