fWotD Episode 2488: Last Gasp (Inside No. 9) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Monday, 26 February 2024 is Last Gasp (Inside No. 9)."Last Gasp" is the fourth episode of the first series of the British dark comedy anthology television programme Inside No. 9. It first aired on 26 February 2014 on BBC Two. The story revolves around the ninth birthday of the severely ill Tamsin (Lucy Hutchinson). Tamsin's parents Jan (Sophie Thompson) and Graham (Steve Pemberton) have arranged with the charity WishmakerUK for the singer Frankie J Parsons (David Bedella) to visit as a treat for their daughter. Frankie dies after blowing up a balloon, leading to arguments between Graham, the WishmakerUK representative Sally (Tamsin Greig), and Frankie's assistant Si (Adam Deacon) over the now-valuable balloon containing Frankie's last breath. The story, written by Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, was inspired by someone Pemberton had seen on Swap Shop who collected air from different places."Last Gasp" is a morality tale that satirizes and critiques celebrity culture. Though reviewers praised the episode for its humour and performances, critics frequently note that it compares unfavourably to other episodes of Inside No. 9. In retrospect, Pemberton claimed that "people hated" the episode. On its first showing, "Last Gasp" drew 872,000 viewers, lower than any previous Inside No. 9 episode. After "Last Gasp" aired, Pemberton sold a balloon containing his own breath on eBay, with proceeds going to a Sport Relief charity. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:32 UTC on Monday, 26 February 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Last Gasp (Inside No. 9) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Gregory Neural.

Angela and Nick are joined by national treasure, Alex Jones. Alex Jones' route to The One Show couch was far from linear. She began her career by getting fired, twice, but returned to work unphased, prompting the production company to suggest a screen test. Alex aced that and having found her niche, was soon presenting a dating show in Magaluf. Alex joined The One Show in 2010 and appeared on Strictly the following year. She has interviewed stars like Kate Winslet, the Rock and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was memorable for many reasons. Alex has also taken part in two incredible Sport Relief challenges, including Hell on the High Seas, which saw six celebrities sail a racing yacht one thousand miles around the UK. As Alex loves Italian food and is married to an ex-chef, Angela decides to do what she does best, pasta. She prepares puttanesca and reveals how she guarantees a delicious flavour, every time. Nick pours the wine, a No.1 Chianti Classico Riserva Piccini and for dessert, the trio enjoy a tarte aux fruits. This episode is a giggle from start to finish as Alex reveals what happened when she drove a bus down the M40 with Chris Evans, why she is NOT a baker and why Lionel Richie got more than he bargained for, the day they met. We caught up just after one of Liv's training sessions and discussed what it takes to be successful and how with the right mindset and vision, no matter your background or ability at the beginning of the journey, anything is possible. From the important qualities in relationships, to property and roof top football pitches... "I see property how I see Freestyle, the industry is always moving you can never stop learning".  Fast cars and investment, this lady has her head firmly fixed on her shoulders and is en route to taking over the world with her passion for learning. She inspired me during our conversation, so I hope you enjoy this one.  Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. How do elite athletes find the motivation to kick start their week come rain or shine? How do celebrities deliver no matter what the time of day? What knowledge can they pass on? Each episode drops on a Monday morning as a bitesize piece of content and weekly dose of motivation - right when you need it. Aimee will meet each of her guests for a walk and a chat and over the course of the mile she will find out how they cope on a Monday morning - their idiosyncrasies, breakfast routines, alarm noises - and how, when they need to, find the motivation to kick-on through the week. Life, Interrupted with Simon Thomas

Eddie Izzard is someone known to many. She's been a comedian for over three decades, whose unique and a time surreal style has made her a household name. But Eddie is art is much more than a comedian. She's also an actor who's made appearances in Hollywood movies, an activist and a Labor Party official. But in recent years, Eddie has become almost as well known for her extraordinary running exploits. In 2009, with only five weeks training, Eddie ran an amazing 43 marathons in just 51 days to raise money for the BBC Sport Relief. In 2016 she ran again for Sport Relief, and the start of 2021, she began the challenge of running 31 marathons and performing 31 stand up comedy shows to raise money for a number of different charities. The reason this episode is a bit different, is because I spoke to Eddie while she was running marathon number 18 on a treadmill. Despite this herculean effort, this is an honest and humbling insight into the life of a young boy who lost his mother when he was just six years of age, and who knew from childhood, she was gender fluid. They also gave us their thoughts on the group of sailors selected by Team GB for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo. As ever, we looked at the big sport stories of the week in the world of Olympic and Paralympic sport. We discussed at length the impact coronavirus was having and the potential impacts for Tokyo 2020. The Associated Press' Global Sports Correspondent Rob Harris joined us to give his views having been in Lausanne reporting on the recent meeting of the International Olympic Committee where the issue was top of the agenda. In athletics, we also analysed the latest developments in the Russian doping scandal, asked what next for Mo Farah and his advisors in light of more recent revelations and spoke about how Nike's new running shoes are not the only reason behind the breakthrough this season of leading British middle distance runner Jemma Reekie. Plus, we looked back at how Great Britain performed at the recent World Track Cycling Championships and what the medal return in Berlin meant for the potential sucess of British Cyling in the summer. In Rio, every member of the track team won a medal and it seems a repeat of that feat is unlikely, although there could be potential British medals in BMX and Mountain Biking. It was great to be part of Superpod 2020 and thanks to everyone who donated to Sport Relief. Zoe Ball is a radio and television presenter. She became the first woman to present the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show in 1997, and then the first woman to present the Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 2019. Zoe grew up in Buckinghamshire with her father – TV presenter Johnny Ball – and her stepmother. After working behind the scenes in TV as a runner and researcher, she first moved into the spotlight hosting children's programmes, including the very successful BBC Saturday morning show Live & Kicking, with Jamie Theakston. In the late 1990s, coinciding with her move to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, she found herself described in the press as a 'ladette', enjoying the partying culture of the time. Further headlines followed her marriage to superstar DJ Norman Cook - Fatboy Slim - in 1999. She decided to leave Radio 1 in 2000, and her first child, Woody, was born later that year. She and Norman announced their separation in 2016. Zoe was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, and has presented Strictly: It Takes Two since 2011. This week we review - Terry Alderton - More Crazy Now (Series 2 Episode 4)The prolific, uncensored and self-assured Terry Alderton embarks on a four part series where he plays every character and sings every crazy song.‘Terry Alderton’s All Crazy Now’ is not so much a radio show, but a piece of evidence against him, or possibly cathartic repugnance from years of frustration and self censorship. ‘All Crazy Now’ is unique – if Kenny Everett and Spike Milligan got together they would be making a show like this. It’s a one man Goon Show not to be missed.Terry plays all the characters himself – every single voice you hear is him – from dancing bears, Akil Chowdry, Morgan the Freeman, his inner voices, Victor, a sketch which is about a mother and something to do with Monkey Fights. Oh, and there’s songs – songs about pole vaulting chickens, sausages, cornflakes and keeping your dreams alive….His extensive TV credits include ‘The Royal Variety Performance’ (ITV1), Live At The Apollo‘ (BBC One) ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Road Show’ (BBC One), ‘Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live’ (BBC Three), Dave’s ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Let’s Dance for Sport Relief’ and that show set in London. Film credits include ‘The Flirting Club’, ‘Keeping Mum’, ‘Black Ball’ and ‘The Jam’. Terry is the man behind online sensations ‘Danny Dire’ and ‘Bloke Cast’ and short film ‘Brahms and Liszt’. The song I have sent you this week is about my favourite mountain….I wrote it back in the day for an album I produced for my pal Paul Damian…who sings it. I came up with the inspiration after one of my many climbs up Mount Snowdon in Wales…as it is always the first thing you say when you get there and get your breath back….there are a few different ways up there and I’ve done them all on several occasions…I’ve even put a video about it on Youtube….standing on the top is a wonderful experience with spectacular views. The news this week has been blanket coverage of the terrible terror attacks in Belgium…..we need to know the details of this sort of thing but doubt whether constant repetition of the same pictures and reporting actually helps…and the politicians using the situation to question our membership of the EU etc…it all gets completely out of hand…like most people I’m at the stage where I haven’t a clue as to what is actually going on anymore…all we get is conflicting opinions from publicity seeking politicians…they can’t ALL be right…someone has to be lying. My heart goes out to the poor folk of Belgium who innocently got caught up in all this…I don’t know what the answer is. We discussed him last week .. but let’s take our hats off and salute Eddie Izzard for completing 27 marathons in 27 days…TWO of which were on the last day….in an interview he said he now needs to do one or two a month to keep his fitness up….absolutely incredible…and Kelly Holmes has been on TV…she is making a comeback as a marathon runner…she has been out of the game for seven years when she retired from athletics…I must say I have keenly watched athletics since Roger Bannister ran the 4 minute mile in the 50’s so I have seen a lot..BUT the best race I have ever seen was Kelly Holmes winning a gold in the 800 metres in 2004…sheer guts…I was out of my chair….since then she has done a lot for charity…hence her knighthood. The Sport Relief raised 55 million pounds…let’s hope it all goes to the right place. Ladies tennis hit the headlines this week….some official had to resign after making sexist comments about the ladies…and as we know sexism is a one way street…as the “Loose Women” programme illustrates…they can say what they like and that’s O.K….this guy said ladies tennis has been hanging on the shirt tails of mens tennis for years…and Jocovich has added the men should get more money than the women….so all the girls are up in arms led by the Williams sisters. The answer is simple…make the women play best of 5 sets instead of three…on second thoughts I don’t think I could stand more than three sets….I remember Pat Cash saying that people would rather watch him knocking up than watch a ladies tennis match…couldn’t agree more….it’s like saying anyone who works three days should get the same as someone who works five. It’s time the ladies got over themselves…I wish them every success with their football, rugby and cricket but it aint for me…or most people…which is shown by the attendances….good job I don’t work in sport eh? Bear Grylls has a programme on TV called “Mission Survive” which is another one of those accidents waiting to happen….the whole thing is really a platform to show how tough Bear is.”look at me…I’m so macho”…he puts celebs through a series of survival tasks which could have serious consequences if they go wrong….I can’t really see the point….are these celebs that hard up? I gave up on it half way through the second episode…there should be a doctor on hand to see if the contestants actually have a brain........….and great news!!!...Britains Got Talent is coming back….hosted by Ant and Dec….this will follow Saturday Night Takeaway featuring Ant and Dec…after all this we’ll have I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here…hosted by Ant and Dec….I keep expecting the pair of them to turn up in the back of my car….is there no escape? If nothing else they prove that you can make a fortune with no talent whatsoever…they should form a trio with Cheryl Cole.

.In life certain things come back to haunt you….the song I have sent you this week in an example. It is a track off an album I wrote and produced for wrestler Adrian Street back in the 80’s which sold very well along with a few singles I did for him (two of which actually made MTV in the States). The album was called “Shake Wrestle and Roll” and was on vinyl….just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water it has suddenly reared it’s head again….with TWO record companies wanting to re- release it….one company in this country and one in the States. Four of the songs were featured in a film called “Grunt-The Wrestling Movie” which aint bad for something we did in my attic studio..plus the fact that Adrian aint no singer (but don’t tell him I said that) .I must say I was well impressed by the record breaking row across the Atlantic by our wonderful ladies….it really was a fantastic achievement and I can only salute them. I doubt if people realise how violent the sea can get…bad enough on a giant cruise ship…they should be knighted…And hats off to the designer of the boat which withstood everything that was thrown at them. .I’ve just about had enough of Piers Morgan on Breakfast TV….I would watch BBC but they only seems to cover a selection of grave illnesses and health issues…no thanks….so I’m stuck with Piers….when will presenters stop asking stupid questions….for example “How did it feel winning 6 million on the lottery?”….or “How did you feel when you found your house had burned down?”…etc….for heaven’s sake…IT’S OBVIOUS HOW THEY FEEL!!!….and whenever they have a statement from a politician he is always trying to make an argument out of it all….I feel sorry for Susannah Reid who is obviously fed up with him…like the rest of us…..it’s only a shame it wasn’t HIM that Jeremy Clarkson punched….that would have made good viewing. Very sad news about the death of Sir George Martin…I have always admired him and as far as I’m concerned it was because of his musical prowess The Beatles were so successful…which I feel is somewhat overlooked….the success of songs like ”Eleanor Rigby”…”Yesterday”,,,”Please Please Me” and many more were down to him. When a group of guys who don’t read music have a bloke like him on board you can’t lose….he was a genius. .Next week we have “Sport Relief” on ITV….where celebs and sports personalities raise money for charity….I’ve been contacted by the organisers who want to use my song “How To Say Llanfair PG”” in the programme next Friday night….so rock on….simply displays the power of the internet….little did I know that when I came up with the song over a cup of coffee thirty years ago that it would still be popular now. I’ve always said there in no time limit on a song….it finds it’s own way through life.

It’s disgusting the way the media are covering this missing plane incident….there are poor grief stricken relatives who are in turmoil only to have a camera stuck in their face to broadcast their anguish to the world…what does this achieve?…NOTHING…it doesn’t help in any way…just so some pig of a reporter can get a story without an ounce of human decency…this needs to be sorted. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club are to have a high power meeting as to whether they let WOMEN on the course…heavens above…what is the world coming to?….as you probably know G.O.L.F. means “Gentlemen only…ladies forbidden”…which obviously the R & A and a few other courses still stand by. We have a Golf Club close to where you once lived which is a men only set up…….I think in this day and age it’s time for Golf Clubs to get over themselves…speaking as a guy who has performed (musically) at hundreds of them I can safely say that they are all the same…overloaded with snobs and outdated rules and regulations. If you want to get away from the ladies go to the wood section of B&Q…..just the smell of timber and the odd DIY bod wondering round in peace…wonderful. There has been a survey regarding accidents in the home…WHICH IS ALL I NEED TO HEAR AT THE MOMENT!!!...and the major cause is a combination of ill fitting SLIPPERS and STAIRS. Apparentlly there are more accidents in the home than on the roads…which makes sense I suppose…it was showing how kids get scalded in kitchens by pulling pans etc off stoves…this sort of thing should be drilled into people more often…instead of prattling on about what we should and shouldn’t eat. I watched the Sport Relief show on tele….it was the usual mele but it’s all in a good cause..HOWEVER I thought David Beckham in the “Fools and Horses” sketch was genius…a classic piece of comedy. And I also thought Alex Jones was very brave climbing that rock face. They also had a programme about ignoring kids who may be lost…they set a little girl up on her own in a mall and filmed people just walking past her…..WHAT DO THEY EXPECT?...the media have made it quite clear that EVERYONE who makes contact with a kiddie is a paedo. Now they are saying that kids shouldn’t regard EVERYONE who approaches them as dangerous….who are these people who come up with this tripe? On the subject of the little girl…she was standing outside a shop in which you would naturally assume her mother was in…the whole exercise proved nothing…..waste of time.

Furry-Muscle Cast - Episode – 10 Next Cast May 18th 10PM EST / 9 CST Main Topics: 1.      The Pros and Cons of Weight Machines Weight Machines - Pro -          They're supportive. Most machines provide support, which is great for people who need help when learning new exercises. It can also be good for people rehabbing injuries or those who want to lift heavy weights without a spotter. -          They're easy to use. Because most machines work on a fixed path and have instructions and diagrams posted, it's easier to use good form. -          They save time. It usually doesn't take as much time to change weights on machines as it would for many free weight exercises. -          They're less intimidating. Trying to figure out what to do with a bunch of dumbbells can seem impossible. With machines, you know exactly what muscles you're working and how to do the exercise correctly.   Weight Machines – Con -          They're too supportive. Because you have so much support, you use fewer muscle groups at the same time. This means you burn less calories and work the body in a less functional way. -          They're limited. Most machines offer one exercise for one part of the body, which means having to use multiple machines for a total body workout. -          They don't allow you to work on weaknesses. Many machines require you to use both arms or legs to move the weight, so if one side is stronger than the other, that side may do more work than the weaker side. -          They don't allow the body to work naturally. Because many machines work on a fixed path, there's not much room for working the body throughout different planes of motion..   Free Weights – Pro -          Versatility. Free weights can be used for a variety of exercises for the entire body, so you don't have to move from machine to machine to work different muscle groups. -          Functionality. With free weights, you're able to move the body through natural motions as well as through a variety of planes allowing you to mimic movements you do in real life like squatting, lifting things over your head and rotating the body. -          Building whole body strength. Because you're supporting your own body, you can work on specific muscles while involving smaller stabilizer muscles that can get neglected with machine training...this can also help you burn more calories during your workout.   Free Weights – Con -          They're hard to learn. Using free weights requires skill and coordination, so you may need some instruction when using them for the first time. Good form is harder to achieve without the added support from machines, so there's a higher learning curve with free weights. -          Risk of injury. Because there isn't a fixed path when using free weights, it's easier to put your body in the wrong position, which could lead to injury. There's also the risk of dropping the weights, especially if you're lifting heavy. -          Confusion. With machines, you know exactly what exercise you're doing and what muscle you're working. With dumbbells, there are so many exercises you can do, it's easy to get confused about where to start.   2.      Compound Movements: -          Definition: Compound exercises in weight training are those that involve more than one joint and muscle group. Examples are squats, deadlifts and chin-ups. For example, the squat involves the joints of the knee, hip and ankle, and the muscles of the upper and lower legs and buttocks. -          Compound movements build the most muscle. Not only that, but they increase strength the fastest. And of course, they are brutal! -          Must be more mindful of doing these types of exercise as they are the ones that mostly cause injures. -          Types of Injures: Pectoralis Major Tear, Elbow Pain, Hamstrings Tear, Biceps Brachii Tear, Disc Herniation.                   Story 1: Building Muscle Without Heavy Weights Main Focus: That heavy lifting is not always the best. ScienceDaily (Apr. 26, 2012) — Weight training at a lower intensity but with more repetitions may be as effective for building muscle as lifting heavy weights says a new opinion piece in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism. "The perspective provided in this review highlights that other resistance protocols, beyond the often discussed high-intensity training, can be effective in stimulating a muscle building response that may translate into bigger muscles after resistance training," says lead author Nicholas Burd. "These findings have important implications from a public health standpoint because skeletal muscle mass is a large contributor to daily energy expenditure and it assists in weight management. Additionally, skeletal muscle mass, because of its overall size, is the primary site of blood sugar disposal and thus will likely play a role in reducing the risk for development of type II diabetes." The authors from McMaster University conducted a series of experiments that manipulated various resistance exercise variables (e.g., intensity, volume, and muscle time under tension). They found that high-intensity muscle contractions derived from lifting heavy loads were not the only drivers of exercise-induced muscle development. In resistance-trained young men a lower workout intensity and a higher volume of repetitions of resistance exercise, performed until failure, was equally effective in stimulating muscle proteins as a heavy workout intensity at lower repetition rates. An additional benefit of the low-intensity workout is that the higher repetitions required to achieve fatigue will also be beneficial for sustaining the muscle building response for days. Jonti Wilson, 39, of Station Road, Aspatria, was born without his right leg because of spina bifada – but has not let that hold him back. He will officially take over Presice Fitness on Tuesday when it will be renamed Jonti’s Gym. He has overcome his disability to become a well-known figure within the bodybuilding fraternity and now wants to help others achieve their fitness goals. He said: “The hardest muscle to train is the mind. If you can do that then you are halfway there. “We have a motto here: ‘Never say never; there is always a way’. No excuses. If I can do it with one leg, then you can certainly do it with two.” He added: “I have got my wish to have my own gym. Now I have got to make it what the community wants.” His plans include re-decorating it, moving the reception area and opening an in-house supplements and clothing store. He also wants to transform unused space into a women only weights area and to support various charity events including Sport Relief. Exercise classes including kettlesize, tone and sculpt and circuits will also be run from the gym. When Jonti started training three years ago, he had a beer belly, low self-esteem and got out of breath easily. Now in the best shape of his life, he will make a guest appearance in a bodybuilding show at Bolton, Lancashire, on Saturday. In a month’s time he will also take to the stage at the two-day Hercules Olympia in Essex, a huge event in the bodybuilding calendar. He won the UKBBF Championship in 2010 in the wheelchair section and has not ruled out competing in future events if they introduce more suitable categories. When he made his debut at the South Lakes Classic in Ulverston two years ago, cheers and applause broke out from the crowd as soon as he threw down his crutches. Some have called him ‘inspirational’ but Jonti rejects the term. “People do see me like that but I’m just doing my thing”, he said. He previously worked as a duty control manager for the ambulance service. More recently he has been working for a company called Trauma FX which simulates emergencies to help train army and medical personnel. The job involved travelling around the country with a team of make-up artists who made it appear as if he had lost his leg in violent circumstances. The aim was to help prepare soldiers for the horrors of war and to improve medical practices on the battlefield. But now he plans to run the gym full-time and is looking forward to his latest challenge. I think most of us knew this instinctively as kids: virtually all of us know the joys of sculpting something (with play-dough), painting something (with fingers), or drawing (with crayons and other materiels). However, other than making random doodles in the margins of a page while you’re on killing time, if you’re like most adults, you don’t express yourself with art like you did as a kid. Benefits of Art: One of the reasons that clinical art therapy is effective is that the act of drawing and creating art can help you relieve stress in several ways. Here are some ways that creating art can alleviate stress: Distraction: Drawing and art can take your mind off of what’s stressing you, at least for a few minutes. And when you’re finished being engrossed in your sketches, you should have a clearer head with which to tackle your problems again. Flow: There’s a certain quality of being called “flow”, that experts say is very beneficial for us. This refers to a state of being completely engaged in something to the point of being in a near meditative state. It carries many of the benefits of meditation, leaving you much less stressed when you’re done. You can experience ‘flow’ when you’re doing creative activitieslike writing, and even gardening. You can also get it from drawing. Self Care: Just the act of having a hobby can make you feel more balanced in your lifestyle. Sometimes with all of life’s responsibilities, we forget that we need and deserve ‘down time’ and self care. Taking even a few minutes on a regular basis to devote to a hobby can give you more of what you need in this area. And, with drawing, you have the additional benefit of being left with something beautiful (or at least interesting) to show for it! Do-It-Yourself Art Therapy for Stress Relief One of my favorite ways to use drawing for stress relief is to maintain a sketch diary. Keeping a sketchbook can be a form of journaling, and it can be cathartic, creative, and stress relieving. You can use a journal for personal art therapy and stress management in the following ways: Sketch pictures that describe your feelings related to things in your life that are causing you stress currently. If it’s in the back of your mind anyway, this could be a way of processing your related emotions, reducing some of the stress they carry. Sketch abstract pictures that express feelings related to past stressful experiences, as a way of processing your emotions and healing. Keep a ‘Dream Sketch Diary’, and sketch scenes from dreams you’d like to remember or better understand. Keep a sketch diary of what you think is beautiful in life. Draw the faces of those you love, places that bring you peace, or other pieces of beauty. The process of sketching can be a great stress reliever, and revisiting your creations can also bring you some peace in the future. Additional Art Resources: If you’re interested in trying out a regular drawing practice, there’s a great site on the About network devoted to drawing and sketching, for people of all levels, including beginners. You can sign up for classes and a regular newsletter (just like with you can sign up for free stress management classes and a free weekly newsletteron this site!), and get more tips on keeping a sketch diary. Have fun! Source: http://stress.about.com/od/funandgames/a/learningtodraw.htm Story 2: Practice the Tricky Bits Main Focus: Working on the weak points helps to make art stronger. It's always enjoyable to draw the easy things - it's fun when everything goes well and the drawing flows smoothly. It's only natural to avoid difficult things. But unfortunately, avoiding them isn't going to make them any easier! It's a classic feature of any first-year drawing class (especially once they've done enough to realize which bits are hardest) - lots of focus on the torso but the hands and feet either fade out, or fall off the edge of the paper.  The best time to practice drawing hands and feet is outside of class, when you're not using an expensive figure drawing model. Draw the feet and hands of friends and family watching television or reading. Do consider the whole figure and relate the feet and hands to the rest of the body, considering proportion.  How to Draw Hands  Examples of Hand Studies  More Hand Studies  Anatomy Reference Photos Source:  http://drawsketch.about.com/b/2012/04/10/practice-the-tricky-bits.htm

Illusionist Hans Klok, reputedly 'the fastest magician in the world', has been performing magic since he was ten years old. He recently played shows at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas, where Pamela Anderson was his glamorous assistant. He brings his homage to Harry Houdini, The Houdini Experience, to London. The show combines daredevil stunts, illusions and tricks. The Houdini Experience is at the Sadler's Wells Peacock Theatre. Adrian Jackson is a writer and director, who set up the theatre company 'Cardboard Citizens'. His latest play 'A Few Man Fridays' tells the story of how the British Government evicted 2000 islanders from the Chagos islands in the Indian Ocean during the cold war to make way for a US military base. Sabrina Jean's family were part of that community who eventually settled in the UK. She is secretary of the UK Chagos Support Association. A Few Man Fridays is at London's Riverside Studios. Scholar Mary M Talbot's latest book 'Dotter of her Father's Eyes' is part biography and part personal history which contrasts two coming of age narratives; that of Lucia, the daughter of James Joyce, and that of the author herself who is the daughter of an eminent Joycean scholar. Dotter of her Father's Eyes by Mary M Talbot with illustrations by Bryan Talbot is published by Jonathan Cape. Dave Kelly lost his sight fifteen years ago to a rare eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa. After two years of struggling to adjust to his condition, he was inspired to set up his own charity, Daisy UK. The charity runs sports sessions for the disabled, including blind football and wheelchair basketball. The project will use funding from Sport Relief to run one day sports courses for young people, both disabled and able bodied, and their carers. Producer: Paula McGinley.
