This is because they tend to focus on external changes rather than addressing the root causes of dissatisfaction with one's appearance. They create an illusion of change, but beneath the surface, nothing has truly shifted. That is why I coach my style clients, not just style them. Often times it's their own self-doubt and lack of confidnece that keeps them from seeing their own beauty and showing up as a category of one in their industry. You Can Enhance Your Beauty Through Color Choosing the right colors can enhance your natural beauty, making your skin look healthier and more radiant. On the contrary, the wrong colors can age you. The Wrong Clothing Distracts Your Brain Wearing ill-fitting clothes can distract your mind and slow you down, hindering your ability to complete important tasks throughout the day. I teach you how to find gems in your closet and how to incorporated them with the current styles for an updated look. The key to a great wardrobe is knowing how to use the clothes you already love in your closet. Myth # 3 I Need to Dress Age Appropriate Sis, you don't need to wear clothes because you reached a certain age. And you don't have to cut your hair either. You can still wear whatever you love. Style is something anyone can learn, even you. It's about understanding what works best for your body type, lifestyle and personality. Myth # 5 Expensive Equals Stylish Many women believe that spending more money on clothes automatically means you'll look more stylish. However, style isn't about the price tag. Ready to elevate your personal brand image? Schedule your Complimentry 1:1 Coaching Consultation In the ever-evolving world of personal branding, visibility is key. One of the most effective ways to increase this visibility and elevate your brand image is through professional photography. A well-executed photoshoot can help your brand stand out from the competition and give it a sense of quality and professionalism. But it's not just about taking high-quality pictures. It's also about choosing the right colors for your branding photography. The colors you choose can have a significant impact on how your brand is perceived, and they play a crucial role in forming clear visual identities for marketing materials. Here are two essential tips we discuss: Choosing the Best Colors for Branding Photoshoots: The colors in your photos should align with your brand's aesthetic and message. They should evoke the emotions you want associated with your brand and fit with your visual identity. Finding the Perfect Personal Brand Colors: Your personal brand colors should be consistent across all platforms, including your photos and marketing materials. This helps build a recognizable and unique personal brand. Successful personal brands have mastered the art of using colors strategically in their branding photography. And guess what? You can too! To learn more about this topic, I highly recommend tuning into the newest episode of the Midlife Style School podcast. I have dedicated an entire episode to discuss how to use colors strategically in your personal brand. Remember, your personal brand is a powerful tool that can set you apart from the crowd. Show Notes Follow Afton on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/aftonporter She is answering your style question on Instagram the month of November. Be sure to go give her a follow. In this episode, we dive into the resurgence of wide-leg jeans and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe. Whether you're 20 or 60, we believe style has no age limit and everyone can rock this trend. We discuss: The cyclical nature of fashion: How trends from past decades make a comeback. The return of wide-leg jeans as a reaction to the dominance of skinny jeans. Wide-leg jeans and age: How anyone, regardless of age, can rock wide-leg jeans. The importance of fit and comfort. Balancing your outfit: Tips on creating a balanced silhouette with wide-leg jeans. How to choose the right length for your jeans. Style tips for wearing wide-leg jeans: From finding the right fit to pairing with the right tops, shoes, and washing options. Examples of dressy wide-leg pants and where to wear them: We explore different styles of wide-leg pants like Palazzo Pants, Suiting Trousers, High Waist Wide-Leg Pants, Evening Wide-Leg Pants, and Jumpsuits with Wide-Leg Pants. Wide-leg pants in the workplace: Can high-profile women wear wide-leg pants to work? Yes, they can! We share some styling tips to maintain a professional look. Additional Points: Wide-leg pants offer the best of both worlds with a high waist and flowy fabric. They provide comfort without compromising on style. To prevent your outfit from looking too casual, focus on fit. Even oversized pieces like wide-leg pants should be tailored properly. When styling wide-leg pants for the office, it's suggested to pair them with a work-acceptable bodysuit or a close-fitted top rather than a crop top. This helps maintain a professional appearance while balancing the volume of the pants. Wide-leg pants can be flattering as they give the illusion of an hourglass figure. Tucking in your top or keeping it short can further enhance this effect. For an even more polished look, consider cinching the waist with a belt. Most importantly, remember that any woman, regardless of her size, can wear wide-leg pants. They're great for women of all ages, heights, and body shapes as they accentuate the waist. Avoid Too Much Volume: If you're wearing wide-leg pants, it's generally recommended to balance them with a fitted or tucked-in top. An oversized top paired with wide-leg pants can create too much volume and may not flatter your figure. Consider Your Height: While petite women can certainly wear wide-leg pants, the proportion is key. Opt for high-waisted styles to elongate the legs and avoid pants that are too voluminous or long, as they can overwhelm a petite frame. Mind the Occasion: Wide-leg pants might not be suitable for certain activities or settings. For example, if you're going for a hike or doing any activity that requires a lot of movement, wide-leg pants might not be practical. Similarly, in very formal settings, a more tailored silhouette might be preferred. Choose the Right Shoes: The type of shoes you wear with wide-leg pants can greatly impact the overall look. Flat shoes might make the pants appear too long, especially if you're shorter. Heels or platforms usually work well with wide-leg pants as they add height and prevent the pants from dragging on the ground. Fit is Key: Regardless of body type, wide-leg pants should fit well at the waist and hips. Pants that are too tight or too loose may not give the desired look. Remember, fashion is about expressing yourself. Don't be afraid to experiment and make the wide-leg jeans trend your own. Happy styling!

Today I'm sharing my midlife makeover. Your story might be different but the end result is the same...it's time to decide how we want to behave, dress, and be in midlife. Join me inside my style coaching program THE MIDLIFE STYLE SCHOOL I am sharing my heart behind why we are narrowing down the podcast to midlife women and why it's important to me. In addition to sharing my personal reasons, I also shared 7 general reasons how women in midlife will benefit from this podcast. 1. We want advice that speaks to our experience with career, family and finances. Women in midlife often have different concerns than younger women such as what discreetly covers aging skin or how to dress for professional success without looking too stuffy. 2. Midlife women have different styles than younger women - We know that the styles of the younger generation are constantly changing, so midlife women need fashion advice specifically tailored to their needs. This means understanding which trends are appropriate for a more mature look and adapting existing trends to flatter a woman in her 40s and 50s. 3. Midlife women have a wealth of knowledge and experience - As midlife women, we have the benefit of already having years of life experiences behind us. This means that we can use these experiences to our advantage when it comes to looking good. We can learn from our past experiences, what works for us and what doesn't, allowing us to create a unique wardrobe that flatters our body type and complexion perfectly. 4. Midlife women need more accessible fashion resources – Many fashion resources are geared towards younger generations, making them inaccessible for midlife women who may not be as familiar with the current trends or how to shop for clothes in their age range. By focusing on providing fashion tips specifically for midlife women, we can help make fashion more accessible without compromising on style or quality. 5. Fashion isn't just about clothes; it's about self-expression and confidence which are important at any age but especially so during midlife when we may feel like our best years are behind us. By focusing on fashion tips specifically tailored towards this stage of life, we can help empower women to embrace their beauty as they enter into their older years with grace and poise. 6. Midlife women often lack confidence in their appearance - With age comes wisdom but it also brings changes in self-perception; something that may cause midlife women to feel less confident about their appearance than they did when they were younger. Join the style & life coaching for women elevating their image & style in 2023: The Midlife Style School Are you ready to start living your most stylish midlife in 2023? If so, you're in the right place, I'm going to show you how to start decluttering your mind of all the negative thoughts that have been keeping you stuck. You see, clutter isn't just the stuff on your floor — it's anything that stands between you and the life you want to be living. And that includes the thoughts that we tell ourselves like "I'm not good enough," "There's something wrong with me," "I'm not worthy of my dreams," or "It's too late." It's time to start believing different things about yourself and start living the life of your dreams — let's get started! Identify The Lies You've Been Believing The first step towards decluttering your mind is to identify the lies that have been holding you back. These are usually stories from our past that we carry with us into adulthood. They can be things like “I'm not smart enough” or “I'm a failure” or even “I can never do anything right.” It's important to recognize these stories for what they are - lies - and begin to challenge them. Ask yourself if these stories are really true - or if they were created by fear, insecurity, or an external force (like society). Once you identify these lies and call them out for what they are, then it will be easier to release them and move forward. Replace Negative Thoughts With Positive Ones Now that you've identified some of the negative thoughts that have been holding you back, it's time to replace them with positive ones. Begin by writing down a list of empowering affirmations such as “I am capable of achieving my goals,” “I am worthy of love and respect,” or “I have everything I need within me to succeed.” Then read through this list every morning when you wake up and every night before bed — this will help train your brain to think more positively and create new neuropathways in your brain so that positive thinking becomes second nature. Take Action Toward Living Your Dreams Finally, start taking action towards living your dreams. This could mean signing up for an online class in a subject that interests you, starting a new business venture or side hustle, creating a vision board for your future goals, signing up for a volunteering opportunity - whatever it is that brings joy into your life! Taking action is often one of the hardest but most rewarding steps towards living our dream lives — so don't be afraid to take risks and go after what sets your soul on fire! Now it's time for YOU take charge of YOUR life in 2023! Decluttering your mind is no easy task — but I'm here to teach you how inside the The Midlife Style School the month of January and more topics throughout the year. Once done it can help release years' worth of baggage so that you can finally live freely without being weighed down by the past. So don't wait another day; start taking small steps today by joining me inside The Midlife Style School. This episode of All-In features a woman who clearly has found her perfect professional match. Tara Patten is an image coach and virtual stylist whose lively personality and passion for helping people uncover their best selves is nothing short of inspiring. Daniel hosts a conversation that is both energizing and informative. While Tara is full of passion for her business and mission today, the road to get there was anything but a straight one. Born in England, raised and educated in Florida and Maryland, she was in search of a calling. That search took her to California and ultimately aboard cruise ships in the Caribbean, where she loved being a “shopping ambassador.” It was her first hint of where things ultimately would go. But, as is so often the case, there were a few storm clouds before blue sky broke through. At one period, when the way forward seemed particularly murky, Tara realized there was only one thing to do – something she recommends we all consider when the chips are down: Ask for help. She got invaluable coaching and before long had conceived of the branding and styling niche she occupies so successfully today. Learn about the services she provides and the results she witnesses when her clients decide to focus on – and commit to – doing some personal work. This episode is like several seminars in one podcast. Tara is excited about showing up in the world and helping people put forth their very best selves – and the feeling it's infectious! On today's episode, I chat with Ty Cutner, an IFS Informed Relationship and Image Coach who has a passion for working with men. Ty will be hosting two panels with the Heirloom Summit. You may know Ty from a Demo he did with Dick which is on the Continuity Program in the IFS Diversity and Inclusion workshop. Link to the Demo HERE! If that link does not work try this one :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al7jnW-Z08w&feature=youtu.be I just want to note how HUGE it is that Dick (and Sara Oberg at the IFS Institute!) allowed us to have access to this link. We talk about the polarizations from the demo and what has happened in his system since then. Ty is vulnerable and his story is painful and beautiful. It is full of hope and motivation. Ty continues to talk about his younger exiles throughout this episode. And, I continue to ASK- I have STRONG mothering parts who WILL NOT UNBLEND. I still notice them as I interact with Ty even now. Ty talks about his experience and lessons learned with an ice bath in Maine. Our internet connection is not the best during this story which is about the first 8 minutes of the episode.... it gets better. Around the 30 minute mark Ty shares his thoughts about racism. At the 40 minutes mark we talk about how Ty is coaching men on their image and shares his own discovery of why image is so important. Ty talks about The Gentlemen's Factory, a social club for men of color where he's a founding member in Brooklyn, NY. Connect with Ty on Instagram and Facebook or on Ty's Image Coach Website I'd love to connect with you @ifs.tammy on Instagram and Twitter and on Facebook at The One Inside Facebook page. Perception is the only Reality others have; and their Perception is their Reality. > Strategic Image Management and Personal Branding. Our image management coaching focuses on Personal Branding and Image Excellence. Personal branding is the inner perspective one needs to know about who you are, Image Excellence is the outward reflection and embodiment thereof. Authenticity is magnetic, if we can make the connection between the highest expression of our Personal Brand and what it would look like in the world, we start to develop a unique value proposition that is underpinned by a high degree of self-awareness and confidence. To guide us on this journey we use a framework that covers important elements outlining how we can enhance our personal impact power including: - The Primacy Effect and its Criteria; - “Enclothed” Cognition Psychology; - Dress code for the work context; - The Science of colour; - Basic Body and Face shape Analysis; and - Accessories, grooming, make up, hairstyle. > What is Strategic Image Management? Strategic Image Management by its very definition suggests that you can and should manage the perceptions that others have of you. Perception is the only reality. Strategic Image Management is a composite issue forming part of a holistic approach towards the way in which you communicate. Everything about you speaks – your body language, appearance and your voice.
