Greetings! Steve, Luke and Govier start with a newsletter than nobody had talked about prior to the show. Should the fellas do a newsletter? Govier had a stepdad that imparted a bogus behavioral routine upon him. What the hell was The MacLaughlin Group?! What about Ryan White? Remember when AIDS was put into every television storyline at some point in the 1990s. Steve shared the voicemails he talked about last week. Luke and Govier voicemails are a blast from the past! Southern drawls can be hours of entertainment as this week's show proves. The Oakland Athletics broadcaster said the word that nobody should EVER say anywhere plus he said it on live TV! It's a total nightmare. Jordan Neely was murdered by a Marine in the subway of New York City recently. The media is running with the classic buts, but there is a point to why this story matters in a genuine way. Govier is hopeful after the police in Windsor, Ontario will now be riding with professional nurses on weekend shifts to help with the overdose crisis in the city. Harry Belafonte and Gordon Lightfoot have died recently. Both left quality pieces of themselves behind that we should all be grateful for. Of course we read your emails! Eric wants to complain about how terrible The Dark Knight Rises script was! Eric is pissed! Luke is also pissed! Danny wants to talk Lions NFL Draft. Govier is now heavily focused on the Writer's Strike and the possible fallout from it. Luke is displeased because Biden called all ofus deadbeats. Not cool! The fellas also dream of a Hunter Biden focused you are not the father Maury Povich episode. We love you all! We close the show with Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos. If any of our nonsense provokes your thoughts, please share them with is isitsafepod@gmail.com
Lisa Torem is a returning guest to talk about her book “Tori Amos: Every Album, Every Song”. It's part of the “On Track” series of books by Sonicbond Publishing. Tori Amos gained fame in 1992 with the release of her album Little Earthquakes including the singles "Silent All These Years" and "Crucify". That was followed by 1994's Under The Pink which featured the hit singles "Cornflake Girl" and "God". She's released a total of 16 studio albums. With each release, she broke new ground both musically and thematically. She's been nominated for Grammys, she was the first female artist to chart in the Billboard Top ten in Classical, Alternative and Rock genres simultaneously. We'll talk about Tori's career, starting with her late 1980s synth pop beginnings right through to her 2021 album Ocean to Ocean.Purchase a copy of “Tori Amos: Every Album, Every Song” through Sonicbond Publishing in the UK through Burning Shed HEREPurchase a copy of “Tori Amos: Every Album, Every Song” through Sonicbond Publishing in the USthrough Amazon HEREListen to a playlist of the music discussed in this episode HEREWatch Tori Amos in Kellogs "Just Right" Cereal TV Ad HERE Follow Lisa Torem:FACEBOOKTWITTERVisit the Booked On Rock Website HERE Watch exclusive video segments from the Booked On Rock podcast HERE Follow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK TWITTER INSTAGRAM TIKTOK Support Your Local Bookstore! Coming up as a teenager playing piano in Washington, D.C. gay bars, Tori Amos has always had a special connection to the LGBTQ community - particularly gay men. For this week's guests, 'Drive All Night - The Songs Of Tori Amos Podcast' co-host Efrain Schunior and Tori super-fan Kenny Franklin, that connection was only deepened with the release of her 1996 tour de force 'Boys For Pele'. Recorded primarily in a church in rural Ireland, the album combines her typically virtuoso piano playing with more experimental instrumentation and sometimes stark, sometimes expansive songs about casting emotional demons aside and reclaiming one's fire. Songs featured in this episode: Mr Zebra, Professional Widow (Armand's Star Trunk Funkin' Mix), Strange Little Girl, Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos; Sonata for Harpsichord Four Hands in C major - Mozart; Beauty Queen/Horses, Blood Roses, Father Lucifer, Professional Widow - Tori Amos; Violet - Hole; Marianne, Caught a Lite Sneeze, Caught a Lite Sneeze (Live sessions at West 54th 1998), Muhammed My Friend, Muhammed My Friend (Live feat. Maynard Keenan), Hey Jupiter - Tori Amos; Wish You Were Gay - Billie Eilish; Little Amsterdam, Doughnut Song - Tori Amos; Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover - Sophie B Hawkins; Vibeology - Paula Abdul; The Springtime of His Voodoo, Putting the Damage On - Tori Amos; The Tourist - Radiohead; Time (Live on David Letterman, 2001) - Tori Amos

Me and my piano in rock style. Tori Amos and Garbage’s Shirley Manson ruled the ‘90s alternative music charts with hits like “Cornflake Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains" (respectively), and they continue to make vital music today. On the eve of Amos’ Boys for Pele twentieth anniversary deluxe reissue release, the old friends sat down to talk revisiting their younger selves and early work, the constraints society puts on aging women, the film Audrie & Daisy being a powerful teaching tool against sexual assault and the song Amos wrote for it, motherhood, and the patriarchy in the music business. They even offer some advice to aspiring female pop stars. Subscribe now on iTunes or Stitcher to stay in the loop on future Talkhouse Podcasts. — Elia Einhorn, Talkhouse Podcast producer and engineer
