This week on Unchained: two big stories, one episode. First, Jesse Pollak, head of Coinbase's L2 Base, joins to unpack the chaos behind the viral “Coined It” memecoin moment, a tweet-turned-token that hit $17M in an hour, crashed, then rebounded, igniting a firestorm on Crypto Twitter. Was it a media experiment or a botched launch? Was there insider trading? And why does Jesse think coins are the future of creator monetization? Then, we dive into Converge, the recently announced chain backed by Ethena and Securitize, aiming to bridge TradFi and DeFi. Carlos Domingo and Guy Young explain what makes Converge technically novel, why they're building on Arbitrum and Celestia, and how it could reshape the onchain landscape for institutions. Also in this episode: Whether Jesse regrets greenlighting the Base post The future of creator coins and tokenized assets How Converge plans to prevent hacks and improve UX And why Converge isn't just about migrating existing assets, but “expanding the pie” Thank you to our sponsors! Bitkey: Use code UNCHAINED for 20% off FalconX Mantle Part 1 Jesse Pollak, Head of Base and Coinbase Wallet On Wednesday, Coinbase's layer 2 network Base posted a tweet that read: “Base is for everyone,” followed by a tweet: “Coined it.” That second tweet linked to a page where the post had already been turned into a coin. Within an hour, the coin hit a $17 million market cap, then dropped to under $2 million, then went back up to over $13 million. Crypto Twitter exploded. Some called it a rug. Others accused insiders of sniping the launch. Coinbase later issued a statement saying that Zora auto-tokenizes content, but Jesse Pollak, head of Base, tweeted that he personally greenlit the post. So what really happened? In this episode, Jesse sits down with Laura to discuss: Whether this was a memecoin launch or a media experiment Why he thinks the crypto community overreacted Whether insider trading occurred And why he believes coins, not NFTs, are the future of creator monetization Plus, he explains why he's okay being the “punching bag.” Part 2 A month ago, Converge was announced as the new chain backed by Ethena and Securitize, aiming to become a home for tokenized assets and institutional capital. On Thursday, the teams behind it released the full technical specs. From validator-triggered circuit breakers to 100ms block times and support for yield-generating private credit, Converge is pitching itself as the chain for both TradFi and DeFi. In this episode, Securitize's Carlos Domingo and Ethena's Guy Young join Unchained to explain what's actually novel in this architecture, why they chose Arbitrum and Celestia, and what it will take for institutions to get comfortable onchain. Plus: What Converge means for Ethereum and other L2s Whether gas tokens like USDe and USDtb solve real UX problems How they plan to prevent bridge-based hacks And why this isn't just about migrating existing assets, but “expanding the pie” Guest Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize Guy Young, founder of Ethena Labs Links Previous coverage of Unchained on Ethena: After an Incredible 2024 for USDe, Ethena Plans to Supercharge Growth Ethena's USDe Grew to $2 Billion in 7 Weeks. Israel is a nation often in the news but seldom for its potential as an investment.Israel is a tiny country but a powerhouse for investing opportunities, particularly in the tech sector. Brian Mumbert joins us today to examine Israel in a different light.Brian Mumbert is Vice President and Regional Sales Executive at Timothy Plan, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. Is It Safe to Invest in Israel?Despite frequent headlines about conflict in the Middle East, Israel stands out as a remarkably resilient nation with an entrepreneurial spirit.Israelis have a low view of debt culturally. In fact, at one point, the government even sent out piggy banks to every citizen to encourage savings and wise stewardship. That mindset—combined with a tech-forward economy—creates strong fundamentals that appeal to values-based investors.Understandably, some investors may wonder about the safety of investing in a country with frequent regional conflict. Israel is regulated just like the U.S. They have their own stock exchange—the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange—and the top 125 companies are listed on the Tel Aviv 125 index.Even during times of war, Israel's economy continues to operate. Brian compared it to the U.S. during World War II: while volatility occurred, the Dow still gained over 50% from 1939 to 1945.A Developed Economy with Room to GrowIsrael graduated from the emerging markets category to a developed economy in 2009. While this was a major step forward, it ironically resulted in less attention from global investors, since many international funds tend to favor larger developed economies like Japan or those in Europe.Still, the fundamentals are strong. Israel's unemployment and inflation rates remain low, and the U.S. continues to be a committed ally.Israel has earned the nickname “Startup Nation” for good reason. Its high-tech sector employs 12% of the workforce and generates 20% of the country's GDP.Many Israeli companies don't become household names because giants like Apple, Google, and Amazon acquire them. Notable examples include:Mobileye—A leader in automotive safety tech.Waze—The crowd-sourced navigation app developed to navigate Jerusalem's winding roads.Cherry Tomatoes—Yes, even innovations in agriculture like drip irrigation and cherry tomatoes can be traced back to Israeli ingenuity. The government's support of tech innovation has made Israel the third-largest tech hub globally by capital raised—just behind Silicon Valley and New York. While tech leads the way, Israel's financial sector is also strong due to the cultural avoidance of debt. This contrasts sharply with many Western nations. Innovations in agriculture (like drip irrigation) and strong export activity also contribute to Israel's economic resilience.Over 50% of Israel's exports are tech-related; major U.S. companies like Apple have invested heavily in Israeli startups, demonstrating the global demand for their innovations.Israel's global relationships are improving, with normalization efforts such as the Abraham Accords expanding diplomatic and trade ties across the Middle East.Venture capital is thriving, too. Israel boasts over 270 active VC funds, and from 2014 to 2018, investment in Israeli startups grew by 140%—more than double the rate in the U.S. during the same period. The Timothy Plan's Israel Common Values FundTimothy Plan offers the Israel Common Values Mutual Fund for those interested in investing in Israel in a biblically responsible way. This fund stands out in several ways:Actively managed—Fund managers respond in real time to geopolitical developments.Focused exposure—At least 80% of companies in the portfolio are domiciled in Israel.Faith-based screening—Just like all Timothy Plan funds, this one avoids investments in companies involved in abortion, pornography, and other areas contrary to Christian values. The fund performed very well last year as the Israeli Stock Exchange closed the year up over 20%, with most of that growth coming in the second half.If you're interested in learning more about investing in Israel and doing so in a way that aligns with your faith, visit TimothyPlan.com.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I just sold my home with $200,000 in profit. Where's the best place to put this money to earn more interest while keeping it ready for my next home purchase in 6-9 months? As a veteran with limited funds, can I set up a Christian investment account to tithe $100 monthly and distribute it to ministry programs after my death?I'm considering buying a rental property for passive income, but I would like to know if it is wiser to meet with a financial advisor and invest in the stock market instead. I'm single, planning for the future, and want to avoid the time-consuming aspects of managing a rental property.Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly MagazineTimothy Plan | Israel Common Values Mutual FundBankrate.comWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on Money (Pre-Order)Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. USDe shattered expectations in 2024, emerging as the largest decentralized stablecoin in circulation and a game changer for DeFi. Ethena's founder, Guy Young, joins the show to reveal how the protocol surpassed long-established giants, generating billions in fees and setting new benchmarks for yield generation. Guy also breaks down the mechanics behind Ethena's innovative strategies, including “Aavethena,” a yield-boosting approach that's changing how users interact with synthetic dollars. Plus, he addresses the risks: what happens when leverage goes too far, and how Ethena mitigates volatility at its core. Will Ethena bridge DeFi and TradFi, leveraging the disconnect between crypto and traditional interest rates to tap into a $100 trillion fixed-income market? Show highlights: Why Guy was surprised to see the rapid rise of USDe Why Guy is spending 80% of his time on bringing Ethena to TradFi The launch of Ethena's UStb How regulation comes into play and the challenges in different jurisdictions Whether USDe could launch in the U.S. with a friendlier administration Why Ethena hasn't needed to utilize the reserve fund Why Guy believes Ethena has been able, at times, to surpass OG protocols like Ethereum and Uniswap in fees How USDe is being used across the board in DeFi applications What the “Aavethena” strategy is and how it generates yield for users Whether USDe has brought considerable risks of liquidations How allowing Pendle's PT tokens on Aave could supercharge growth How Ethena counters the centralization risks around exchanges Why Guy thinks that Ethena's cross-chain strategy has been “pretty poor” How ENA has performed well despite airdrops not doing well in 2024 Why Guy believes this bull cycle is different Why he's expecting USDe to reach at least $15 billion in 2025 Visit our website for breaking news, analysis, op-eds, articles to learn about crypto, and much more: unchainedcrypto.com Thank you to our sponsors! Email us for the link or just look up Is It Safe? Talk Show on Discord. Oliver Anthony's anthem about the sorry states of affairs in the USA has elicited a ton of intense feedback. Luke wonders if the reaction videos to the song are genuine or not. Luke makes a good point about Anthony being a the type of person who should be welcomed into the progressive, reform movement. Govier ponders the path of media scrutiny from the days of Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent to the current right-wing media distrust. How did we get here and how do we objectively identify authentic mainstream messaging for what it is? The unnatural disaster as Steve puts in in Hawaii has roots in settler colonialism masked by tourism. We got emails! Sean wants to know what happened to Steve when he was expelled from high school. Plus Sean wants to know about the biggest mistakes each of the fellas made during their high school days. Luke has no bad-ass stories about his rebellion outside of a tennis racquet issue, but Govier has a doozy from the final semester of his senior year. Joe emails with curiosity about the weirdest or most hilarious names any of the dudes have run into over the years. Steve has a couple of Only Fans accounts he wants to share with you all. To start the episode, Ali and Asif discuss the controversy surrounding country singer Miranda Lambert chastising concertgoers for taking selfies (0:48). Then, after a brief digression on Dana Carvey's Joe Biden impression, Asif asks Ali about the surprise hit TV show ‘Jury Duty' (10:32). They discuss the background of the show and how it is a combination of ‘The Office' and ‘The Joe Schmo Show'. They then discuss how the show did not make much of a splash when it first debuted, but then gained buzz via TikTok. Ali and Asif then discuss the show's reception and their thoughts on the show. They then discuss the Emmy nominations the show has received, including James Marsden for best supporting actor…for playing himself. Then the guys RE-discuss artificial sweeteners because of a new press-release issued by the WHO on the possible carcinogenic effects of aspartame (37:45). Asif explains how it was a joint press release, highlighting findings about aspartame are released today by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). Overall, Asif explains how the IARC found “limited evidence” for carcinogenicity in humans aand classified aspartame as possibly carcinogenic to humans. He then explains that JECFA reaffirmed the acceptable daily intake of 40 mg/kg body weight (ie an adult weighing 70kg would need to consume more than 9–14 cans per day to exceed the acceptable daily intake). Asif clarifies how the agencies' statements are "complementary" in that the two groups work differently, and have a different aim: while IARC flags a potential hazard based on even limited evidence, JECFA assesses the real-life risk. Is ADHD just a fad or a trendy topic? Should everyone be considered "a little ADHD" based on occasional experiences of ADHD-like behaviors? There's a very real misconception that everyone exhibits ADHD symptoms to some degree. It's important to recognize the prevalence and interference of ADHD symptoms in an individual's life, distinguishing between occasional occurrences and the consistent impact of ADHD on one's behavior and daily functioning. In this episode, Lacy addresses the misconception that everyone is a little ADHD and clarifies the difference between occasional forgetfulness and the prevalence of ADHD symptoms that significantly interfere with daily life. She also shares statistics on ADHD prevalence, the challenges faced by women with ADHD, and how it can be important to seek a diagnosis for validation, understanding, and potential lifestyle changes. In this bonus episode, we wrap up our 2-part series on Group B Strep in Pregnancy, where I answer some of your questions following the first two episodes. Here are the questions answered in this bonus episode: Is it possible to retest between an initial GBS swab and going into labor? Are there things that can be done to get a negative test before labor occurs? If you are GBS positive in one pregnancy, are you likely to be positive in subsequent pregnancies? Discussion about an important limitation to one of the studies in our GBS update. Discussion about risk factors and the “Other Risk Factor” approach vs the Universal Screening approach Is there evidence for screening for GBS twice in the same pregnancy? Have you ever wondered if you astral travel or what astral traveling really is? This is a very popular topic among people actively working to tap into and increase their intuition. In today's episode we'll dive into all your questions about astral travel and more. What Is Astral Travel & Why Do We Do It? Astral travel is when your spirit leaves your body to visit the astral plane. This is possible because we are all spirit, we just happen to currently be inhabiting a body and having a physical experience on Earth. Energetically our spirit is still connected to the astral plane, therefore it makes sense for it to return periodically. Typically, we travel with a Spirit Guide who is our teacher to learn things in the astral plane where we are limited by the physical body. Our Guide may introduce us to people or experiences while traveling that will give us information or connection we will need later on in our physical reality. Basically, the purpose of astral travel is for our spirit to learn and grow. Does Everyone Astral Travel? Yes. Everyone astral travels. There are several types of travel. There is voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary is when you make a request to your Guides that you would like to travel. And obviously, involuntary is when they make the decision for you because they know it's needed. Most often we astral travel when we are sleeping. However, it can happen when you are conscious but in a relaxed state. Is It Safe & How Do I Do It? It is safe when you go with your Spirit Guides. You can talk to your Guides, specifically your Teacher and Protector Guides. Let them know your preferences and what is comfortable for you. By working with them, they can make sure you have the best experience possible. The how is very simple… just request to your Guides that you would like to astral travel. You can do this right before you fall asleep during your daily meeting with your Guides How Do I Know I've Been On A Travel? Usually astral visits (vs normal dreams) will be extremely vivid, if you remember them. They also can insight intense emotions. You don't have to remember the astral travel. The things you learn and the people you meet will be stored in your subconscious and will come up when they are needed. Another way to know you've been on a travel is if you know you slept through the night without waking up, but you still feel tired in the morning. And as always if that is too intense or is happening too often, just discuss it with your Guides so they can help your travels happen in the safest, healthiest way possible. I hope you enjoy your travels with your Guides and have amazing adventures. Here's to staying Spiritual & Ambitious. Dr. Walt Karniski, author of the new book ADHD Medication: Does It Work and Is It Safe? Dr. Karniski is a developmental pediatrician trained at Boston Children's Hospital. He was director of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, for fifteen years. He then opened a private practice and, for twenty years, evaluated and treated children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, learning disabilities, and other developmental difficulties. During that time, he developed and operated three private schools for children with ADHD, anxiety, and learning disabilities. Over the forty years he has been practicing, he has evaluated and treated close to ten thousand children, conducted numerous studies of brain activity in children, and has been director of a child abuse program and a program for enhancing development in children born prematurely. Dr. Karniski approaches each child as a unique individual with distinctive strengths and weaknesses, where the diagnosis does not matter as much as understanding the specific needs of that child. His new book is ADHD Medication: Does It Work and Is It Safe? We're still Scott-Free, but he is getting closer to returning. For now it's Luke and Govier. Luke went to North Carolina for a road trip last week. It sounds pretty trendy. Govier got a parking ticket in Detroit, but that's just the beginning of his problems. Detroit is a corrupt town. Are you surprised to read that? Mayor Mike Duggan is a scumbag of the lowest order. We ask the question you all are dying to know the answer to: did you use seek or scan when you strolled along the dial on terrestrial radio? Govier had a garbo rental car recently in Arizona and it was trash. Santa Claus has gotten a lot of love over the years, but Luke is baffled over the chimney thing and that Santa seems to ignore homeless people entirely. Have you heard Mother Theresa might have been a little worse of a person than you remember? Trump announced his run again after the mid-terms. He did it with a lack of enthusiasm that has some people concerned. Dr. Phil was on Joe Rogan's show talking about how Cheetos is the symbol of socialism and that's why the concept of a socialized society is a fraud. Also, have you considered that certain sentences reveal you have right-wing thoughts even if you didn't make the original connection? The Cheeto Depot is absolutely now and forever the official sponsor of the Is It Safe? Talk Show. Your emails are the finale for this episode. Emails came in from the original show stan Danny who misses Rodent Talk. Danny's email gets airtime and then Mr. Pink wonders about the lack of missing comedy bits about the bumbling adventures of President Joe Biden. We love you guys! We close the show with Born To Lose by The Bouncing Souls. If any of this nonsense inspires you for better or for worse, email the show at isitsafepod@gmail.com

This is one our favorite events here at Bootu Inc. and today's stories don't disappoint. This year we are putting out two separate bonus shows each with three stories, since we were just a little carried away writing this yearOn today's show we've got a frightening tale of corporate greed (and cupcakes), a classic tall tale of grand proportions, and a "sweltering" battle between good and evilCheck out our friends at the Is It Safe? His new book is ADHD Medication: Does It Work and Is It Safe? (Roman & Littlefield, May 15, 2022). Learn more at: adhdmedicationbook.com ADHD is one of the most common problems that pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, and pediatric psychiatrists manage. Most studies indicate that 6-8 percent of children have ADHD. Approximately seventy-four million children live in the United States, and these studies all support the finding that ADHD affects approximately five million of them. And that doesn't include adults with ADHD.Because there are no medical tests to definitively “make a diagnosis” of ADHD, it is easy for critics to dismiss it as a disorder fabricated by doctors, teachers, and pharmaceutical companies. Some parents blame themselves and react with guilt, believing that they should have raised their child differently. So, when presented with the diagnosis is it any wonder that parents might react with confusion, guilt or denial? It doesn't matter how often ADHD occurs in the overall population. What matters is what happens to your child. What matters is that a short attention span, distractibility, and impulsivity produce adverse consequences in childhood and as adults. But here is the good news: Treatment with medication significantly decreases the frequency of those undesirable outcomes. In ADHD Medication, Dr. Walt Karniski uses his 40 years of experience as a developmental pediatrician to address important concerns that parents have about the use of medication for the treatment of ADHD, explaining what medication can do for your child, what it cannot do, and how to use medication in a safe way.

MLM's and the health claims they repeat are dangerous, but often times we aren't really sure why. We place our faith and health in the hands of product reps who make illegal claims to get you to sign on the dotted line, but what could go wrong? I often get a lot of questions about the efficacy of essential oils as a natural health alternative, and so I asked my friend Kayla to come share her journey with that exact thing. As someone who has allergies to most modern medicinal solutions, Kayla was swept into the promise of essential oils being her saving grace, to the point that she was encapsulating and ingesting oils every single day.
