Your favorite procurement podcast is hosted by Alex Jennings on the Alchemie Network's livestream event.Ed and Rich muse on what we should expect in the world of procurement in 2025, as well as also looking back at what we said this time last year. Were we right about near shoring, the continuing focus on risk and cost reduction, the slow march of AI, procurement tech continuing to lag, and a lack of available talent beginning to hit recruitment??? And what are our predictions for 2025 – more AI, more tech, more risk, war, flood, famine, recession and tariffs - and that's just the positive stuff. What would Nostradamus think?? Perhaps, a new mysterious leader will come from the sea and form an aquatic empire. Oh, and a massive asteroid is going to come close to hitting the Earth. Yep.We also talk about ProcureCon, PSN merch and some amazing thought leadership coming soon. And you can even see video of us recording this one on the Alchemie Network - join up, it's as cheap as crisps...https://www.alchemienetwork.com/spaces/13204286/contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/procurement-says-no--5886102/support.

“The reason I like listening is I think, ‘If I'd have been CPO there or in other organizations, what would I have done to try and prevent that? And what red flags would I have held up? And what can we learn from that so that it doesn't happen again?'” - Alex Jennings, CEO and co-founder of The Alchemie Network We all consume content for different reasons–education, entertainment, or otherwise. There are always lessons to be learned from one company or supply chain that can be applied in another. To discuss these stories - and the process of capturing them on the Art of Supply podcast - Kelly Barner was invited to speak in a live session hosted by The Alchemie Network, an organization that promotes collaborative learning around ESG and sustainability for procurement. In this episode of the Art of Supply podcast, Alex and Kelly reminisce on past episodes to cover: How companies are coming up on social mandates and using malicious compliance to find loopholes and avoid them The role that legal statutes make in driving sustainability efforts worldwide The careful line businesses have to walk when considering taking government funding Links: Alex Jennings on LinkedIn The Alchemie Network Kelly Barner on LinkedIn Art of Supply LinkedIn newsletter Art of Supply on AOP Subscribe to This Week in Procurement

Dig into duck with Alex Jennings as we discuss his dream which commanded him to move to New Orleans (plus his brother's dream which supported that decision), how writing his debut novel transformed him into the kind of person he needed to be in order to write his debut novel, how Octavia Butler invited him into the field, which artist he wishes would draw the comic book adaptation of his novel The Ballad of Perilous Graves, what China Miéville taught him at Clarion about the deadly nature of "second order cliches," how joy is revolutionary in and of itself, the way his experience as a standup comedian helps him help you care about the multiple POVs of his novel, which issue of Uncanny X-Men was the first comic book he ever read, the nature of his quasi-mystical approach to writing, and much more.

Welcome to Building Brand You™, the podcast that helps you accelerate your success by unlocking your greatest asset – you. KEY TAKEAWAYS: “The world has a problem and we need to start sharing…owning the problem is what's behind the creation of The Alchemie Network and The Alchemie Foundation.” Alex Jennings Understanding others' strengths and matching that with areas where we are not strong is important in moving away from what's best for me to what's best for us - and that includes our teams, partners, customers and our organisation. When it comes to building high performing teams, a ‘no hire' is better than a ‘bad hire'. Recognising diversity in culture, gender, and social background within your team will lead to business success, only if you remain creative in how you get your team to work. When you were 18, what were you concerned about? If you're of a certain age, my guess is that the demise of our planet and Artificial Intelligence taking over weren't at the top of your list. But for today's youth, those are real concerns. And it impacts how they think about and prepare for the future. In Part 2 of our series, Across the Generations, I sit down with a mother and daughter who are grappling in real time with these questions and more.Amplify and Connect18 year old Alex Jennings is a freshman at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She's pursuing a degree in Visual Design, while wondering if AI will make her skillset obsolete before she even graduates. Her mom, Karen Walrond, is making a return appearance on Our Voices Matter to engage in this important conversation with her daughter. What are Karen's hopes and fears for Alex as she prepares for adulthood in an increasingly uncertain world?Karen is a badass, modern day renaissance woman whose new book, Radiant Rebellion, will be out later this year. The point of having conversations like this is two-fold: 1) to amplify the voices of Millennials and Gen Z who are often ignored, underestimated and misunderstood, and 2) to learn from each other and celebrate what connects us across generations.Three WordsEnvironment. Economy. Empathy. These 3 words play a prominent role in our conversation — as do three words I ask both Alex and Karen to share when thinking about the future. What are your three words?Whatever they are, my hope is that this conversation enlightens your perspective and encourages you to talk — and most important — listen — to those in your life of a different generation. There is so much for us to learn from each other. And together, we can tackle and solve the challenges that lie before us.Support the show

London. Tavistock House. 1851. It shaped Charles Dickens' life and career. Home to The Smallest Theatre in the World, Mrs Weldon's Orphanage and an alluring French lodger called Charles Gounod, Tavistock House is reputable for having been the home of three eccentric creatives - the Mancunian painter Frank Stone, the world's most famous writer and actor Charles Dickens, and Victorian England's notorious amateur soprano and litigant, Georgina Weldon. Within its walls lies a story of personal passion and chaos colliding with extraordinary creativity. Until it was destroyed in 1901. With the staircase creaking after dark and smog pouring in through every chink and keyhole, Ben Gernon guides us through this remarkable house, revealing what the walls hold and uncovering its unusual tenants. Alex Jennings leads a cast in this docudrama as we join the Dickens theatre company at rehearsals for their festive production of Wilkie Collins' The Frozen Deep. We eavesdrop on Mr and Mrs Weldon's crumbling marriage; witness Charles Gounod furiously composing in the upstairs bedroom with welcome interruptions from Georgina Weldon; and Catherine Dickens shares her story from the other side of that wall. From extra-marital affairs, screaming street children, kidnap attempts and madness to amateur dramatics and shattered dreams, this is the story of one of Victorian England's most famous houses. Joining Ben around the house are Lucinda Hawksley, Professor Joanne Begiato and conductor Charles Peebles. Cast Alex Jennings as Charles Dickens Katherine Kingsley as Georgina Weldon Ben Onwukwe as Frank Stone and Charles Gounod Ben Crowe as Wilkie Collins and William ‘Harry' Weldon Jane Whittenshaw as Mary and Catherine Dickens With thanks to Year 6 students at St Peter's Church of England (Aided) Primary School, Henfield, and Year 1 students at Underwood Church of England Primary School, Nottinghamshire, for ensemble roles. In a post-pandemic world, one of the brightest stars to light the London stage is Alfie Friedman. After bursting onto the scene earlier this year, Alfie Friedman has cemented himself as an actor to watch. Most recently, Alfie played Gabriel Davies in the hit Channel 4 drama The Undeclared War opposite the likes of Alex Jennings, Sir Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg where he also got to work under the careful direction of writer-director Peter Kostminsky. His performance earned much praise from critics and audiences, calling it one of the biggest breakthroughs of 2022. On stage, Alfie has also been making waves in the musical theatre scene, starring opposite his mother Maria Friedman in her Legacy show celebrating Stephen Sondheim, Marvin Hamlisch and Michel Legrand. Following this, Alfie went on to star in a new concert revival of The Witches of Eastwick as Michael Spofford, once again working under the watchful eye of Maria Friedman. In this exclusive interview, Alfie Friedman shares what it's been like to thrust himself into the entertainment industry, getting to star in a hit Channel 4 drama and carrying on the Friedman legacy. We hear him reflect over the success he's earned over the last year and why storytelling continues to be important to him. After developing a large TikTok following, Alfie also tells us about why he loves connecting with audiences and sharing his optimism with the world. Following the death of his friend and mentor Stephen Sondheim, Alfie also takes the time to share his love for the beloved composer and pays tribute to the man who he credits as being one of the reasons why he's alive today. It's a fascinating interview with a young man who we expect to see continue rise in his career.
Alex Jennings is a writer/editor/teacher/poet living in New Orleans. He was born in Wiesbaden (Germany) and raised in Gaborone (Botswana), Tunis (Tunisia), Paramaribo (Surinam) and the United States. He constantly devours pop culture and writes mostly jokes on Twitter (@magicknegro). He loves music, film, comix, and even some TV. He's going a little nuts shut up in his Central City apartment, but thankfully he has two of the best roommates on earth (one of whom is a beautiful beautiful dog named Karate Valentino. His debut novel, The Ballad of Perilous Graves is due out from Redhook in 2022. You can also find him goofing around on Instagram: (@magicknegro) Nola is a city full of wonders. A place of sky trolleys and dead cabs, where haints dance the night away and Wise Women help keep the order. To those from Away, Nola might seem strange. To Perilous Graves, it's simply home. In a world of everyday miracles, Perry might not have a talent for magic, but he does know Nola's rhythm as intimately as his own heartbeat.
