"Ferera Swan is a recording artist, songwriter, composer, pianist, violinist, and GRAMMY voting member of The Recording Academy. Today, the Austin, Texas-based cinematic-pop artist is boldly emerging from a transformative time of reclamation. Classically trained with the Suzuki Method, Ferera began piano lessons at age 3, violin at age 6, and began writing pieces for piano by age 10. By age 16, she composed her first cinematic score titled “Serenity”, which was premiered by four high school orchestras and piano after winning a district festival composition contest her senior year. Working out of her home studio in Austin, Texas to date, Ferera has released two albums under previous artist names and has written, co-produced, co-engineered, and arranged music for other artists in a wide variety of genres ranging from pop R&B, country, rock, and folk, as well as having worked as a vocalist, pianist and/or violinist session musician. Her vocals and voice-over work has been featured in various commercial jingles including a national advertisement for Old Navy, while also performing her original music live on radio and television in the Austin, Texas region. Her instrumental piece, “Lighthouse” was featured in the film documentary ‘Swim For The Reef' that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Sharing her personal story through music as an artist and adoptee, Ferera is passionate about raising awareness around adoption in support of family preservation and evolving society's mainstream adoption narrative. Her music is a vulnerable, unfiltered, and honest expression of the ongoing healing journey relevant to many, reaching the hearts of all listeners. Currently, Ferera is actively working on upcoming projects and over the past year, has helped launch Women In Music's very first Austin Chapter as Vice Co-Chair of Membership. Bridging music and activism for adoptee rights, social change, and collective healing, Ferera has channeled her trauma into a creative and personal rebirth. “Some of our greatest gifts can be found in our deepest pain. At dinner, the Ladies say that they are very sorry that Jane is ill, but Lizzy can tell that they don't really care. After supper, Elizabeth goes back to check on Jane, and the Bingley sisters start trash talking Elizabeth. They say that she has bad manners, bad conversation skills, and no taste. The only thing recommending her is that she is a good walker. They then discuss her idiotic idea to walk all of the way to the house to see her sister, and how awful it was that she was covered in mud and dirt. Mr Bingley defends her, saying that he didn't notice her dress at all, and thought it very good of her to have come. The girls then ask Darcy if he noticed, and if it lowered his esteem of her and they are a bit shocked when he retorts that it in fact lifted it. The girls then head up to pretend to be kind to Jane again and leave when coffee is called for. After Elizabeth believes Jane to be asleep, she heads down to find the group playing cards, but refuses to join in as she believes them to be betting with a lot of money. She goes to read a book instead, and Mr Bingley offers to give her his library if she would like. This leads to a conversation about Mr Darcy's extensive library at his home in Derbyshire, and homes in general. Elizabeth soon finds that she is not reading at all and is listening to their conversation, and she goes to join in. The topic then changes to ideal people, and Darcy explains exactly what it is that he looks for in a woman…Support the Show.Thank you so much for listening, if you want to support the me go to any of these links :)*Social*SHOPIFY: https://the-essential-reads.myshopify.com/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/theessentialreadsTWITTER: http://twitter.com/IsaacBirchallvoKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/theessentialreads

Every day the girls get news of the men's names and whereabouts, and they can talk only of these men at suppertime. Mr Bennet can barely take it. During one of these talks, the family is interrupted by a footman who has brought an invitation for luncheon to Jane from the Bingley women. Jane readily accepts and asks if she can take the carriage. Her mother and father say no, and Mrs Bennet adds that she will go on horseback as it is going to rain, and this will force the women to invite her to stay. Jane is a bit put off by this, but she goes and not long after, the rain begins. The following day, word is sent to the Bennet's that Jane has gotten a nasty cold and is bedridden. Elizabeth knows that she is going to be fine but insists nonetheless on going to see her sister. Elizabeth walks the whole 3 miles to Netherfield House and though covered in mud, is welcomed into the house to see her sister. Elizabeth's state impresses Darcy. Jane has become more ill since the writing of her letter, and insists that Jane be allowed to stay with her until she gets better.Support the Show.Thank you so much for listening, if you want to support the me go to any of these links :)*Social*SHOPIFY: https://the-essential-reads.myshopify.com/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/theessentialreadsTWITTER: http://twitter.com/IsaacBirchallvoKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/theessentialreads

Jane is very receptive to the ladies, and likes them very much, Elizabeth however is wary of their kindness. Charlotte and Elizabeth discuss Jane and Mr Bingley. Charlotte believes that Jane should just marry Mr Bingley now and get to know him later. Elizabeth isn't too sure of this though, saying that the two of them don't know each other well enough. Elizabeth is too caught up in her talking about Jane, that she failed to realise that Mr Darcy like her very much. It seems that even though he can point out several “flaws” in Lizzy, he has become determined to get to know her better and tries to listen to several conversations she has at the next ball. At the ball, Elizabeth finds it odd that this rude man is trying to join in with her. After a brief engagement with Darcy, Charlotte decides to put Elizabeth in the spotlight, and gets her to play the piano and sing for the audience. As the night goes on, several of the Bennet girls, and some of the officers go off to dance. Sir Lucas, sitting next to Darcy starts a conversation about dancing. Eventually Elizabeth comes over, and despite Sir Lucas' attempts, and Darcy's wanting of it, Elizabeth refuses to dance.Support the Show.Thank you so much for listening, if you want to support the me go to any of these links :)*Social*SHOPIFY: https://the-essential-reads.myshopify.com/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/theessentialreadsTWITTER: http://twitter.com/IsaacBirchallvoKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/theessentialreads

This is our first ESG Decoded episode to feature a professional sports team. However, instead of talking about players and stats, Amanda and Jordan take a fresh approach by exploring sustainability. Tune in as they unravel the intricacies of building a stadium, with a spotlight on site selection being a pivotal factor for sustainability advancements. Considering the climate, Q2 Stadium's design cleverly harnesses natural breezes and integrates inventive stormwater management and passive cooling systems. In line with an eco-friendly approach, the stadium's intentional limited parking promotes public transportation usage. The Austin FC organization extends its influence beyond the field, serving as a unifying force in the community with targets for financial and ticket donations to deserving causes.

In the summer of 2014, Davey McEathron Architecture was founded upon the idea of the architect as artist and master craftsman. DMA celebrates the process of designing and building through listening and collaboration. With an equal amount of space dedicated to a design studio and a fabrication studio, DMA positions itself in a unique location between design, testing, and realization. Davey McEathron has been designing buildings, furniture and public art in Austin since 2008. Born and raised in Houston, Davey spent the early part of his adult life travelling the United States as a singer and guitar player for several Texas indie rock bands before deciding to go back to college to become an architect in the early 2000's. Davey graduated from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon - a city known for burgeoning ideas in urban design and sustainability. On episode 539 Thom Singer sits down and eats amazing barbeque with one of the owners of LeRoy and Lewis. Saywer Lewis shares her entrepreneur journey as Thom eats, and eats, and eats. No matter where you live, you know that Austin is famous for two foods, Tacos and BBQ. Today we talk BBQ (but it is such a great interview, Thom will soon be seeking a Taco Entrepreneur to be on the show). About Saywer Lewis Sawyer Lewis is an entrepreneur, and the co-owner and operations manager of LeRoy and Lewis BBQ, specializing in hospitality, event planning, social media, and business development. At the age of 18, Sawyer moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where she fell in love with the community while working in local restaurants. Her passion for the restaurant industry has been cultivated over the last 15 years by working with award-winning chefs and entrepreneurs, and learning from key figures in the sustainable farm-to-table movement across the country. After traveling throughout America and Europe, seeking out various regional cuisine and beverage, Sawyer and her husband Nathan Lewis moved back to Austin in 2015 to settle down. In 2017, Sawyer and Nathan joined forces with Evan and Lindsey LeRoy to open LeRoy and Lewis BBQ truck at Cosmic Coffee and Beer, with plans to expand into a brick and mortar restaurant and brewery and launch a line of consumer packaged goods. In 2019, Sawyer helped to start an Austin Chapter of I’ll Have What She’s Having, a non-profit uniting hospitality professionals to raise funds and awareness for female health care. About LeRoy and Lewis New school barbecue, old school service. They serve up alternative cuts of meat and creative sides using seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and ranches. Expanding the boundaries of traditional barbecue, guests can expect market-style service of meats sliced to order and served by the pound, renewed versions of classic barbecue sides, and playful desserts. The food truck is located at Cosmic Coffee, in South Austin. A new brick and mortar location coming soon. Learn more at https://leroyandlewis.com Https://www.thomsinger.com/podcast/leroyandlewis

While The Rabble is on break, we are revisiting some of our favorite, most impactful, or most moving episodes. This episode originally aired on June 28, 2019. Since its debut, it has continued to be our most-downloaded episode. In the midst of the horrors at the border, it is comforting that so many people want to know how they can stop them. We ourselves were desperate to understand what was happening to child migrants and how we could help, so we made an episode all about just that. Plus, in a surreal twist of fate, Becky's pansexual stan Texas State Rep. Mary González (who inspired Becky to come out on our June 21 episode) represents the district where the Clint facility is (the one that made news this summer). Rep. González is our special guest along with guest host Dr. Cheasty Anderson, one of the most knowledgeable humans on the topic of child detention. SUPPORT ROUSER'S NEW PATREON PAGE! On our way into recording this episode today we heard that the Supreme Court kinda sorta decided to keep the citizenship question off the 2020 Census. Which is a BIG win! Yay. But here's the deal. People of color are scared for their lives, and that will effect who gets counted in the 2020 Census. And that matters for how much national funding we get as a state for services. How much power we get to hold in the number of representatives we get in Congress. The national arm of APAPA is coming to ATX for a training on making sure everyone is included in the census. If all you can think about this week are the babies at the border who have no toothbrushes, soap, or even diapers, this is the episode for you. We were desperate to understand what was happening to child migrants and how we could help, so we made an episode all about just that. Plus, in a surreal twist of fate, Becky's pansexual stan Texas State Rep. Mary González (who inspired her to come out on last week's pod) represents the district where the Clint facility is (the one in the news this week).
