It seems this is a new trend or one that I have been seeing more and more of out on social media…and quite frankly..it grinds my gears. Of course, I will be talking about it in this episode. Does it really matter what I eat in a day or what anyone else eats? What one person eats in a day should not matter to you. Most of these posts and videos I am seeing are not even enough food to sustain a toddler. Social media has so much of an influence on us BUT it's not always healthy. I am sure sometimes there are some great recipe ideas out there and we can find something to spice up our meals BUT what another person eats in a day should have no bearing on what you eat or decide to eat. Keep in mind that I can put 5 different clients on the SAME eating plan and they will all see different results. These “What I eat in a day” posts know nothing about you nor do you know why that person is eating that way. Eating plans MUST be individualized and in my personal coaching opinion, BE REALISTIC... MANY, too many of these posts are NOT a realistic way to eat. Let's dive into WHAT I EAT IN A DAY!!!

“I dare you to get to know who YOU are outside of your roles and responsibilities. You are your own person first.”I recently put up a Facebook post with these words. And boy, did that get the comment section lit up. A lot of people were saying “Yes, absolutely. It took me a long time to discover this, but I'm here.” Quickly followed with “I can't. I have too many children. I have too many responsibilities. Life is too demanding.” So, on today's Powerback® episode, we're going to break that down a little further. The Accountability Minute:Business Acceleration|Productivity
Today we are talking about Strategy #6 of the 6 strategies to help you deal with difficult situations which is to Be Realistic. Be realistic in what you can accomplish in any given amount of time. Although you'd like to think of yourself as Wonder Woman or Superman, there is a limit to what you can accomplish at any one time. Pushing yourself to do more than is physically possible will only create needless difficult situations and add to your stress. Set up realistic goals for accomplishing tasks, without forcing yourself into a whirlwind. Prioritize, create a schedule and stick to it. Using a timer can also help; open your phone and put it on your desk and use the timer every day for a period of time. Don't' let your phone distract you with other noises other than the timer, however. If you're swamped at the end of the day, reprioritize the tasks for tomorrow before going to bed, so you can rest peacefully. You can overcome difficult strategies with ease just by making a few changes to the way you handle tasks. Once you identify strategies for dealing with difficult situations and implement them, you'll be prepared to handle just about any tough situation that's thrown your way. It's about focusing on the end result, breaking each task down into manageable steps, and altering the way you work to reach maximum productivity.Remember, when you're feeling overwhelmed, that is a sign to stop and evaluate the situation. Tough situations are best dealt with calm and objectiveness. If you are too emotionally involved, upset or angry, it may be best to let it go for the time being. Take time to think and reflect upon your desired outcome and form your conversation around that goal. If you are ready to address it in 15 minutes, great. If you need 24 hours, that's okay too. The important thing to remember is to follow these six strategies we have been exploring over the past 6 days, to help you achieve your end result - however, long it takes. You got this!Consider using a time log to occasionally monitor what you do with your valuable time every day for a week or two. Apple Podcasts | Spotify | TranscriptMore Resources: 3K Mini Sessions BlueprintWelcome to the new year friends! Seems a bit wild that we are already getting settled into 2023, but I wanted to talk to you about what to do when life happens. I wasn't sure if I was going to share, however, I know this is common and real! Before unraveling what took place for me and my family back in September I do have a FREE blueprint called the 3k Mini Sessions Blueprint. If you want to run profitable mini sessions this Spring you should grab this free resource. It's actually the right time to start prepping for Spring and I want you to successfully execute those! If you've never made $3000 in a single date of minis it's your year to do just that. Ok, are you ready to hear why I didn't work for a whole month?! Here's what to do when life happens and what exactly took place in September! The BackstoryI have two kids, a girl and boy who I absolutely adore. My daughter is in a hybrid homeschool so she's at school for three days and the other two she's home and we do homeschool. My son is three years old and just started a new preschool this fall. And this year we sought out to potty train him. It was on and off since January, but we were hopeful it would click for him over the summer. Wrong! He's very strong willed and also doesn't care if he's messy or running a muck. Such a boy! Well, the preschool (like most) required him to be fully potty trained. He would have days where he was good and then days where I literally followed him around naked because it was accident after accident. Any mamas out there that can relate?!So when September came and he wasn't allowed in school, I had to step in majorly as mom and get this resolved! That also meant an unexpected month away from the business. So what did I learn that could hopefully help you know what to do when life happens?Be Realistic with Time and EnergyI knew I couldn't be at my computer for extended periods of time and some days not at all. And following around a toddler leaves you feeling drained. I had to figure out what was the bare minimum in my business. So, I made a list of must-have to-dos that my business needed from me. I suggest you do the same for these emergencies that pop up. Then go through and determine what is the bare minimum of what's required. Blogging will probably be on pause, book keeping may pile up a bit, etc. Think through the vital items and only put your hand to that.Reevaluate GoalsSometimes it's disheartening to adjust your quarterly business goals, but it's necessary. I had to look at my goals and determine what was most important. In that season I knew we wouldn't hit our business goals, but my son officially being potty trained was. These were long and challenging days, but I had quality time with him that I won't forget. So, business owner, photographer, mom... it is ok to adjust your goals!Give Yourself GraceYou need to give yourself permission to step back and be where you're needed most. That's also the freedom of being...

Now, let us dive into this week's reads.1. Retail giants vs Suppliers - Impact to End ConsumerRetail giants are taking a hard line with suppliers, pushing back on price raises that have become commonplace in the industry. Walmart is leading the way; last month its CEO told Sam's Club suppliers he would fight attempts to pass price hikes onto retailers, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing anonymous sources. Walmart has previously issued tough edicts to suppliers, threatening not to stock their products over price hikes. Chains like Target and Amazon have made similar moves, asking suppliers for discounts — as a tight labor market, high inflation and an inventory glut weigh on suppliers and retailers. That is really a conundrum when the buyer has so much power/clout. Seller's wallet share of Walmart purchase is in low single digit to very best mid double digit. So in my view its more of walmart's buying power vs. supplier's ability to price appropriately. This is just an observation but how do we counter such a push from walmart is altogether a different question and conundrum to me - Accept it as market structure/market constraints or plan taking the above push from Walmart as given variable in business planning.Consumers are 70% of the US economy. Consumer goods channels are now seeing: the “fastest boomerang (power) back to customers ever seen”. Most of the remaining B2B economy will follow. Retail is always a tough business but it's especially tough in an economic downturn. Walmart, Amazon and Target are all working to push more of the downward margin pressure back on their suppliers."Large retailers are canceling orders, resisting price increases and in some cases asking suppliers to provide discounts. This puts pressure on product makers that are struggling to adapt to shifting consumer demand."While it wasn't a macro economic event we saw that same thing happening during the initial phases of the trade war with China. Manufacturers got squeezed by their retail customers and were able to muddle through by pushing back on their suppliers in turn, and in some cases cutting into what little product margin they had.So far this has felt similar, but with the added pressure of an anticipated slowdown in consumer demand. I expect this Q4 and next year to be tough, and for manufacturer's to have to work especially hard to maintain a profitable and sustainable business.2. Be Resilient for your New Year ResolutionFew Notes from the book “ The Difference ”, Specially the topic of increasing your Resilience Quotient hit a note, which I thought of sharing with the group, specially near year resolutions on the way. This short list is going to help you increase your resilience quotient to keep your new year goal and meet. * Ask yourself one question, Do i have to change or does someone else have to change for me to succeed at my goal ?* Do Something. It may be wrong thing, but it is okay, you will do something else latter. Take small actionable steps towards your goal* Take a Break. This is opposite of #2. If you are working on something which is not going anywhere, Take a break. Rest to get your focus back.* Find a Cheerleader. When you share your goal with others, their is 50% chance of success. You are not looking for someone who can push the same mountain as you are pushing. You are looking for someone who can believe in you and keep a check on you every few months about your journey.* Emphasize the Positive. Be Optimistic. Recognize the good stuff that happens to you each day.* Be Realistic toward your goal.* Silence your Internal Critics. This is our own harsh internal radio that keeps on playing in our head about negativity over and over again and makes it difficult to reach our goals. Don't let it push you, rather listen to it, listen to all the Questions its raising. From your last one week of work, Look for one good achievement or work which you have done toward your goal. Come up with one good reason , a solid reason which can allow your brain to overcome those internal critics off, so which can remind your #1, why you are doing this. * Get Rid of Distractions. This is E-Mail, TV watching, Chatting, Social media mindless browsing, Internet. Get rid of distractions so you have your focus towards your goal. Be Resilient. That is all for this week. See you again.Do let me know in comments or reply me over email to share what is your view on this post. I believe the one most significant reason people don't stick to their goals and fail to accomplish is because they fail to audacious goals from the get-go. I've studied the habits of the affluent for more than 30 years, attended countless seminars on the topic and participated in numerous worshops. Routinely, I've discovered most people never step forward into greatness because they forge impotent goals. Frequently, we've have all been warned to stay against setting our sights too high. Be Realistic they tell us. Stay Grounded aim for what it possible. But you must realize these are toxic statements and they poison our potential. Listen to the full episode every Wednesday! It is ironic that we treasure having major holidays with the spirit of love and giving, yet there are many ways that they can be incredibly draining. Much of the “Holiday Spirit” is created by the marketing world and is not a lot of people's reality. In this episode, we'll be discussing the need to be realistic and also communicate. You can capture the Holiday Spirit. Here are 7 Tips from Dr. David Hanscom and Dr. Les Aria for not just Surviving the Holidays but Enjoying the Holidays. 1. Values 2. Morning Routine 3. Be Realistic 4. Communicate - practice listening with your value(s) 5. Be present in conversations (use diffusion - separating from thoughts) 6. Clear Boundaries in communication and foods 7. Pace Yourself - in thoughts, gifts, actions Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Accountability Minute:Business Acceleration|Productivity
Today we are talking about Strategy #6 (and final strategy) to help you deal with difficult situations is: Be Realistic. It's about focusing on the end result, breaking each task down into manageable steps, and altering the way you work to reach maximum productivity. Remember, when you're feeling overwhelmed, that is a sign to stop and evaluate the situation. The important thing to remember is to follow these six strategies, we have been exploring over the past 6 days, to help you achieve your end result - however, long it takes. You got this! Consider using a time log to occasionally monitor what you do with your time every day for a week or two. You might be amazed at how you actually spend your time versus how you think you spend your time. “Be Realistic.” I hate that phrase. What is possible for your life is what you believe. Period.Did you know your brain doesn't know the difference between what is real and what is imaginary? If you tell your brain something you desire enough, it will work (and come up with) ways for you to receive it because it doesn't understand "impossible" ---unless you choose to KEEP that belief.Let's dream, shall we? Because if you COULD create whatever you wanted out of life, WHY wouldn't you?Connect with me on Instagram @macierenae_ or Facebook @ Macie RenaeEmail: macierenaecoaching@gmail.com
What’s it really like to be a full-time teacher with a side hustle? Today we’re exploring the realities of this non- 9-5 job and how we can make a business work. Be Realistic Side hustle, by definition means that you’re building your business on the side. It’s not your primary gig, so you can not devote full time hours to it. Teachers have to take that one step further, because our jobs don’t end when we leave the school building. We have lessons to plan and papers to grade, so we have to take that into consideration when setting our schedules. Start Small Do one thing every day for your business. Every. Single. Day. Build the habit of working on your business so that it becomes part of your routine. Conversely, avoid the trap of going all in on your business too fast. Slow and steady wins the race. Be Flexible Life happens. Even the most diligent planners can’t predict everything that’s going to happen on any given day as a teacher, so you have to give yourself some grace as an entrepreneur, too. If you find yourself always putting things off, then you might have to reevaluate your scheduling. But if it’s just once in a while, don’t sweat it. Just go back to the previous point and focus on doing something, however small, every day. Session 04 Every year med students around the world prepare for their boards. Many of those students are making mistakes preparing for USMLE Step 1 and COMLEX Level 1. Once again, we’re joined by Dr. Andrea Paul from Board Vitals. Be sure to check them out because not only do they have the Level 1/Step 1 QBanks, but all of the shelf exams as you continue to move forward through your medical education! [03:03] Mistake #1: Not Giving Your Full Attention Students can find themselves doing so many stuff that they forget to focus on what they really need to focus on. If your mind starts to stray away, then that's a signal that you need to take a rest or break. Reset so you can get back to focus instead of just pushing through. Otherwise, you may just miss how many important points. So get up. Take a stretch. Take a minute. And then come back and be fully focused again. Slow down and it will help you in the long run. "The length of time isn't necessarily reflective of the quality of the time that you're studying." [04:35] Mistake #2: Studying Too Many Days in a Row There's a lot of data looking at how many days the students study per day and interestingly, once people went beyond 35 days, the scores started to go down. This is related to inefficient studying or maybe fewer hours per day. But there's a strong correlation that you can't study for too long. Hence, dragging out the day and staying up all night is only going to hurt you. "You only have so much stamina in a day to sit down and these questions are intensive, they require a lot of thought and you only have so much to do that per day." Board Vitals recommend studying for about 20-25 days with about 8-10 hours a day of studying. All of their data show that below or above it is just going to give them low scores. that said, it really varies depending on how your scores are looking. If you're already on the high range of your goal, then you probably don't need to spend the whole month rehashing everything again. Otherwise, doing so may only hurt you. So recognize where you're at then make a plan on the length of your study based on that. [07:25] Mistake #3: Going Through Content Too Quickly and Missing to Review Have a spreadsheet or notepad beside you so you can keep a list of what you missed and why. Was it an error or did you misread the question? Was it the way that question was worded that tricked you? Maybe you need to pay more attention to questions worded that way. Or it can be a specific piece of knowledge that you missed. Then go through the list at the end of each day or the week and you'll start to see patterns. "Keeping a really good track in analyzing how your own mind is working in answering these questions -- right or wrong -- is really important." Board Vitals provides feedback so you can see which areas you may be stronger or weaker. [09:45] Mistake #4: Thinking It's an Insignificant Amount of Pressure Unlike in high school or undergraduate where you just want to be competitive against others, this is different since it's an individual goal. It's something that's going to affect your life. But you just don't have one option. You may really want to do a certain specialty, but you may be just as happy doing something else. So it's not the be all and end all of life. "You want to stay motivated but not to the point that your nerves overpower your instincts on exam day." People who are scoring so high on their question banks, they get to exam day and the pressure is just so intense. So breathe and relax. Medical school is already an accomplishment. So just do the best you can. The boards actually don't allow retests like they do for the MCAT. For the MCAT, you can void it at the end of the test. I wonder if people are doing this on the boards as well. In fact, Andrea has received questions on whether this is a good strategy to take Step 1 and purposefully fail it to see if they could go in and get a strong score. Unfortunately, the rates for residency matching for people who fail on their first attempt is quite low. So no matter what you get on that second attempt may not outweigh that failure. So it's always best to do the best you can. [14:15] Mistake #5: Spending Too Much Time Studying in Ineffective Ways Several students still use textbooks to prepare but this strategy has never yielded high scores for those Board Vitals has spoken to. Those are not clinically focused but only basic science textbooks meant to get you through that course. That's the purpose of the school component, but not the purpose of the board exam. Instead, focus on things that are meant for preparing for this test. And do it in a way that does the highest yield for you. "Don't waste time on the textbooks that you use in those first two years of school. Those are not geared toward this test." As you go through this process, you need to be self-aware of where you stand. Are you solid enough with your foundation? One of the best predictors is doing well in your classes. Did you do well on those or did you struggle? Do you have that foundation to jump in and do questions and review? Or do you need something more substantial to get you up to the level to get you prepared to do those? [18:57] Be Realistic! If you didn't score well, remember that not everyone is a great test taker or study-er. So if you didn't do well in your preclinical classes, maybe keep a more realistic goal for Step 1. "Be realistic about it and not setting goals that are so far outside that you will only end up disappointed." Additionally, don't look at what other people are doing. By your second year of medical school, you should know what works and what doesn't for you and do that. Don't try and do something completely different now for this test. Stick to what's worked for you in the past. Links: Board Vitals

That's the power of regularity. It frees up valuable brain space and decision making energy for other things.Acknowledge your first landmark - Your new habit won't lock into place overnight but you will hit milestones along the way for sure. Think back to the step goals mentioned in step one above. Those are ideal places to stage your landmarks.Engage a supporter - Cheerleaders are called leaders for a reason. Tip #4 Your video doesn't have to be a big production. Remember you are not competing with HBO. It's engaging and personal and from the heart. Authenticity at it's best. Just be you, in your clothes, in a comfortable setting. And just get your point across. Tip #5 Use equipment that you are comfortable with. An iPhone is fine! Use a soft light in your home. Make sure your sound is clear and go! Tip #6 Batch the process. If you have 3 videos to create, do it all at the same time. Or parts of the process at the same time. For example, write all the scripts in one sitting. Shoot all the videos in one morning. Keep it together and your work flow will be efficient. Tip #7 Recap on the 50 tips! Find solutions in your business to free up time....or take something out of your schedule that isn't as effective for scaling your business and insert video marketing. [bctt tweet="The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking. ~ Albert Einstein"] Thoughts become things We are who we are because of what we think. The only way to change who or what we are is to change our thinking. One of my favorite websites is TUT.com and their motto is Thoughts become things - choose the good ones. This is very true. We are what we think. We are what we say we are. Negative self-talk is negative programming into our subconscious mind. When we are think about things, we should always be thinking positive, success-oriented thoughts. You have a choice over your thoughts. You control who you are by the thoughts you think. Choose the good ones. Go check out TUT.com and register for them to send you positive good thoughts to your inbox. Today we will talk about starting our #WorkOnWellness journey. As we #WorkOnWellness, we are going to change our minds thoughts about what we want. We are going to talk about our goals for wellness If you have your copy of the Goal Setting Worksheets I mentioned in our previous episode, follow along. If you need them, go to GoalGettingPodcast.com/action and pick them up. Pause the show now and go get them and when you come back we will get started. OK, you have your worksheets. Let's look at the top of the page. As you see, we have three sections. These are the 3 Keys to Goal Setting Success. This Goal Achievement Success System tool is designed to help you define The What, The How and The Why for each major goal you will set. Today we are going to focus on The What - What do you want to achieve? Did you set New Year's Resolutions? How's that working out for you? At the end of February, most people have already started to forget or quit their New Year's Resolutions. Why? They didn't set them as goals. They just said they resolved to change or do something. As we get into the 3 Keys to Goal Setting Success, you will start to understand why they don't work. Defining The What - what you want to achieve requires the following steps from the 9 Steps to Successful Goal Achievement. Write It Down Be Realistic Set A Deadline Write It Down Napoleon Hill explained in his book, Think & Grow Rich, that the most successful people of his time had Clearly Defined Written Goals. Most people don't write their goals down. Most New Year's Resolutions are not written down. Most New Year's Resolutions are not clearly defined. What was your New Year's Resolution? Was it To Lose Weight? Was it To Live A Healthier Lifestyle? Was it to get a new job? When we write our goals down, when we define The What, we want to use clearly defined speech. We want to be specific about what we want. I like to say "Specific is Terriffic". You will see that on the upper right corner of the worksheets. Specific is the S in SMART goals. Be Realistic Big Hairy Audacious Goals are important. Your goals should be set outside of your comfort zone. You want to dream big! You want to stretch yourself. You want to make it hard to achieve the goals. But, you don't want to set unrealistic goals. Realistic is usually a time constraint or an ability constraint. If you set a goal to graduate from college in 1 year, that is probably unrealistic, for most people. Graduating from college is an achievable goal. Graduating in one year without having started any courses is not likely. Your goals have to be achievable. Be Realistic is the A in SMART Goals as well as the obvious R. To me Realistic and Attainable are essentially the same thing. If they aren't attainable then it's usually unrealistic to assume you can achieve them. If the time frame you set to achieve them isn't a realistic time frame, than they would be unattainable. This is why we have only Be Realistic as one of the 9 Steps. Set A Deadline A dream without a deadline is only a wish! This is the T in SMART goals. T is typically set as Time-bound. You must have a defined time you are going to achieve your goal by. Creating a deadline puts a sense of urgency. It puts a finite end to what you are trying to accomplish. Without a deadline, there is no hurry to achieve. You will get to when you get to it. That's not a goal, that's a wish. Let's Get Started Writing Take out your Goal Setting Worksheet and a pen. Yes, I said a pen. You didn't think you were going to type it in did you? We want to hand write our goals on the worksheet. We want to hand write them in cursive, in longhand. What? You don't know how to do that? I understand they are no longer teaching that in schools. Bad Mistake. We use cursive in the Goal Achievement Success System because the process of handwriting doesn't take conscious thought. At least not as an adult and most kids don't have to after they learn how. The process of handwriting uses the autonomic nervous system, much like riding a bicycle. Once you learn, your body is conditioned to do it. The subconscious mind controls the process. Just like breathing. You don't have to think about breathing, you just do. In The What box let's start writing down what we want to achieve, careful to use all of the steps. Here's the example of WHAT I want to achieve for my primary goal: I want to reduce my A1C numbers to below 6.0 by July 1st, 2016. I will achieve my goal weight of 185 pounds by December 20th of 2016. I will have a 34 inch waist by this time and be able to see my abdominal muscles without all of the fat. The What for my primary goal is Realistic (and attainable). A deadline has been set for the weight loss that is realistic. A deadline has been set for the lowering of my A1C. I know it's realistic. I know both of these deadlines and this wellness goal is realistic because I have lost 40 pounds in 16 Weeks. When I did that, I had lowered my A1C to below 6.0. I know it is possible. It will be a stretch, but I know it's achievable. If I DO what I need to DO to achieve it. That's The How and we will talk about The How on our next Episode. What is your What? What do you want to achieve? I'd like to review Your What. I'd love for you to email me, or better yet, comment on the show notes page at GoalGettingPodcast.com/s2e2 Write down your what in the comments section or send me an email with it to Tony at Goal Getting Podcast dot com OK, you are on your way to your journey to #WorkOnWellness.
