1. DescriptionWhat Do You Do When Doubt Is Louder Than Faith? We've all been there — the moment when life doesn't go the way you prayed it would, and your doubts start drowning out your faith. In this message, we explore what it truly means to wrestle with God and still hold on.Drawing from the Old Testament prophet Habakkuk, we uncover a third option beyond either denying your faith or burying your questions: you can doubt and keep seeking God. Habakkuk's name literally means "to wrestle and to embrace" — and that tension is exactly what authentic faith looks like.In this message, you'll discover:Why doubt doesn't make you a bad Christian — it makes you humanHow honest, raw prayer can actually deepen your relationship with GodWhat Habakkuk's journey from wondering → waiting → trusting teaches us about holding on through the hardest seasonsWhy God would rather have you yell at Him than walk away from HimHow wrestling with God changes the way you walk — just ask JacobWhether you're in a hospital room, grieving a loss, questioning why God hasn't answered your prayers, or simply feeling like life's rounds are breaking you down — this message is for you.Doubt isn't the enemy of faith. It's often the pathway to a deeper, more meaningful one.Part of the series: The Benefit of Doubt, based on the book by Craig Groeschel.2. Ever wonder why certain skills are in the Acrobatic Arts syllabus? In this episode, Sarah walks through two of them -- the cartwheel rebound and the roundoff -- and breaks down not just how to teach them, but why they're there in the first place. Spoiler: the cartwheel rebound isn't a roundoff progression. And understanding that changes how you teach it.About Sarah Reis In her early development Sarah split her time between gymnastics and dance then later got into circus work and competitive rock climbing. The combination of these skills led her to a performance career as a stunt double in the thriving Vancouver film scene. While enjoying a professional performance career she worked on various projects including cruiseship contracts, print, television, film and nightlife productions. Sarah has always felt it was important to continue her education and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2006. After graduation Sarah started work as an artistic sport rehabilitation specialist in a Physiotherapy clinic during the day while teaching dance in the evening. At the clinic Sarah primarily designed return to training programs for injured artistic athletes. Sarah is a certified teacher in acrobatics through the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA) and is a level three coach in women's artistic gymnastics with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Sarah holds longstanding certificates with many established dance teacher, Pilates and fitness related organizations. Sarah eventually returned to school to study contemporary dance at Simon Fraser University and completed a second degree in Education. Sarah spent some time working in the school district, holding an official teaching license with the BC ministry of Education in the specialty of performing arts and physical education. In 2008 she completed her Master's degree in Human Performance Coaching Sciences from the University of Victoria where she researched in the field of athletic motor development and later developed the curriculum for the International Dance Teaching Standards teacher education program for developing dance educators. Sarah began her doctorate research in Leadership Education but has since switched her focus to Dance Medicine. Within her research Sarah is interested in AcroDance teaching methodology and recently presented at the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science. When not touring as a public speaker, Sarah is the director of a large dance competition and manages a physiotherapy clinic among other small businesses. Sarah has spent the last decade touring worldwide presenting at various universities, dance conventions and conferences and can also be seen live from Los Angeles with CLI Studios. With a strong creative pull Sarah has been choreographing AcroDance lines and productions for more than twenty years and continues to be passionate about student development when she is home and able to teach in her hometown. What if the bravest thing you could do was turn your life upside down — and trust yourself to land on your feet?In this first guest episode of our new season, we sit down with Amanda Kingsbury — writer, journalist, co-founder of Indy Maven, and Managing Editor of Innovation at Mirror Indy — to talk about reinvention, sobriety, friendship, and why starting over in midlife isn't a failure… it's a flex.Amanda opens up about the moment that led her to quit drinking, why she once did a cartwheel every day for a year after her divorce, and how loneliness, curiosity, and community journalism have shaped this current season of her life.We talk about empty nesting, losing friends to distance and change, and why friendship — not romance — is the relationship she values most.If you're navigating a transition, questioning what's next, or trying to trust yourself in a season that feels uncertain, this episode is for you.

Two eagles locking talons high above the ground might look like they're risking injury, but it's a normal courtship behavior called the “cartwheel display.” Fully entangled, the two birds begin spinning to the earth, disengaging just before they smack the ground. Their clasp could last for hours. At last, the eagles unlock talons and fly off. Rival adults sometimes perform the same flight.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org.Want more BirdNote? Galaxies frequently collide with each other, and the results can be spectacular. The encounters can pull out giant ribbons of stars. They can trigger intense bouts of starbirth. And they can scramble a galaxy’s stars and gas clouds, creating beautiful rings that look like cosmic bulls-eyes. One well-known galaxy that’s experienced a head-on collision is the Cartwheel. It’s about 500 million light-years away, in the constellation Sculptor, which is low in the south on November evenings. The Cartwheel is a good bit bigger than the Milky Way. It has a bright inner ring of mainly older stars that’s offset a little from the galaxy’s middle. A brighter ring of younger, bluer stars is far outside it. Wispy spiral arms that look like the spokes of a wagon wheel connect the rings, giving the “Cartwheel” its name. The Cartwheel probably started as a normal spiral galaxy. But a few hundred million years ago, a smaller galaxy plunged through it. The collision created a wave that rippled outward, like a rock thrown into a still pond. The wave disrupted the original spiral structure. It also squeezed clouds of gas and dust, causing them to give birth to new stars. And the drama isn’t over. Many more stars are being born in the outer ring, in giant nurseries that look like a strand of lights on a Christmas wreath. They will continue to make the Cartwheel shine brightly as it spins through the universe. Script by Damond Benningfield

It's not every day that a new song by the popular indie-rock band The Beatles drops. But that's what happened right as Steven and Ian were scheduled to record this week's episode. So they started late, and listened to "Now And Then," and then decided... that it sounds like a '90s power pop band attempting to sound like The Beatles. Not necessarily a bad thing? But is it really necessary to take an old John Lennon demo, have Macca and Ringo lay on a new rhythm track, and label it the "last" Beatles tune? After that discussion, the guys discuss "Soul Net," a new single by the great shoegaze outfit Diiv (15:21). Back in the 2010s, it seemed like these guys were either accused of being overhyped or totally ignored. But their music from that era really holds up, and Steven and Ian are excited about the potential for a new album. They are also really into a new shoegaze band, Hotline TNT, who dropped a great new album called Cartwheel today (24:41).Since the guys are so positive in this ep, it seemed OK to talk about a band they both hate, but also feel like isn't popular enough to publicly hate. What are the ethics of "punching down" for critics talking about artistically suspect acts that haven't reached the masses? Steven and Ian try to talk it out (34:05). Then, in the mailbag, they give the "yay or nay" treatment to They Might Be Giants (46:14).In Recommendation Corner (51:07), Ian talks up the latest effort from Empty Country while Steven recommends Philadelphia band Golden Apples.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday.
