The high school basketball season gets off to an electrifying start as the Maquoketa Cardinals face off against the Wilton Beavers in a thrilling game. The excitement fills the gymnasium as both teams showcase their skills, with standout performances and buzzer-beating shots. Maquoketa's height advantage is evident as their shortest player stands at 5'8", but Wilton matches this with determination and competitive spirit. Players like Burmeister and Ellinger deliver spectacular three-pointers, while Quincy Savel shines for the Wilton Beavers, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The intense back-and-forth sees Maquoketa's impressive ball movement meet Wilton's spirited defense, making for a mesmerizing first half. With Maquoketa's three-point prowess and Wilton's tenacity, this game promises unforgettable basketball action.
The Maquoketa Cardinals showcased their impressive three-point shooting skills in a gripping basketball matchup. Despite a strong start from the opposing team, Maquoketa's ability to consistently land deep shots proved to be unguardable, giving them a significant lead. Throughout the game, key players like Ellinger demonstrated leadership and scoring prowess, particularly with their clutch performances. The Cardinals' solid defense and fast play on both ends of the court ensured their dominance throughout the match. Wilton Beavers struggled to keep up, despite their efforts to cut down the deficit in a fast-paced second half. Maquoketa capitalized on turnovers and maintained a steady momentum, ultimately securing a decisive victory with a 26-point lead. The match highlighted the Cardinals' strengths and set the tone for their upcoming games.
Before the the Boys Development Academy came into being in 2007, it needed a model. Something the represented new concept of training and youth development for America's growing soccer population. When US Soccer established the Bradenton residency of its U17 Men's National Team, John Ellinger was the man to run it. Ellinger built a curriculum of development for forty of the countries top soccer talents -- a group that included the likes of Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley -- helping shape the future of the senior men's team. That program, and its success, also shaped "what good looked like" for a new approach to developing youth soccer talent in America. John Hackworth, considered the architect of the DA, credits Ellinger as the real "father" of the DA. He joined Founding Futbol for a wide-ranging conversation about the Bradenton residency, the DA, and the current state of youth soccer. Founding Futbol is a year-long exploration of the critical moments that have led to soccer's emerging popularity in America. Extra Time is an additional weekly episode that shares reactions and reflections from the chapters, and brings additional guests into the fold. This week, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear McKesson v. Doe. The case involves a police officer injured during a Black Lives Matter protest after the police murder of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, La in 2016. The injured police officer sued the organizer DeRay McKesson for damages. Last year, the US Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit sided with the officer. The Supreme Court, for a second time, declined to hear the case. The impact of the Supreme Court's decision to decline to hear the case is potentially devastating for organizers of mass protests. In our latest, Scott talks with movement lawyer Maggie Ellinger-Locke about the case and the precedent it may be setting up. Bio// Maggie Ellinger-Locke, she/her, is a movement lawyer based in the Washington DC area, living on the stolen land of the Anacostan and Piscataway peoples. She works for the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center at Howard University School of Law, where she helps train the next generation of movement lawyers. Previously she worked as a staff attorney at Greenpeace USA, and has also worked in public policy and private practice. She is currently co-chair of the DC chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. --------------------------------------------------- Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by Moody Links// +Supreme Court declines to hear appeal from Black Lives Matter organizer facing damages suit (https://bit.ly/3xNTh5K) Follow Green and Red//+G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast+Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/+We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/+ Join our Discord community ( https://discord.gg/AzY3gmpm )Support the Green and Red Podcast//+Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast+Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandRThis is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. A Budapest Bábszínháznak több, mint hetvenéves történelme van, több generáció nőtt fel az előadásain. Michigan District, LCMS Innovative Missional Ministry Podcast
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The founder of Elli’s House, Deb Ellinger, joins Jeff Heisner to talk about what’s going on in their Innovative Missional Ministry. Ellinger shares some of the recent success stories and the vast needs that still exist in the neighborhoods she serves.
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (Genesis 6:1-2) 82 “The sons of God fell because of beautiful forms and faces, of the daughters of men.” And that’s just exactly what we got today, same thing again. 83 Now, compare that day. Multiplication of people; the women getting fairer; the sons of God falling; marriage and giving in marriage; divorce cases; living in adultery; and so forth. 84 “Why” you say, “Brother Branham, just a minute. I don’t know.” Listen, brother, just before you say something, listen to this. Jesus Christ said, that, “Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” And when you see…When a man walks out of his office, walks out of the church, walks out of his house, strikes the street, what do you see but a display, on every side, of flesh and blood of females, form-fitting, pretty-faced, tempted. That’s what God said would take place. When that taken place, then the time was at the door. “As it was in the days of Noah, when the sons of God saw the daughters of man, and begin to take unto them women.” See? There you are. 85 Now watch. We find that, the same thing today. We see in the history, that such sex appeal they had in them, until the sons of God made unto themselves shrines of women. That’s of Venus, and so forth. See? They, they made shrines, and bowed to these. Well, you say, “Brother Branham, we don’t have such things as that today. You couldn’t compare that with this day.” I beg your pardon. I believe it’s worse today than it was then. 86 What do we see? TV. You can’t even pick up a newspaper but everything that you see is spread with females. Pretty women on every whiskey package, in magazines, sexy, immoral dressed. On the TV, in everything, is some sexy-dressed woman, some pretty woman. And we find out on—on cigarette advertisements, everything that you can look at, you find that it’s some attractive woman. You can’t even see the advertisement of a pair of silk stockings less you see some kind of a thin, shaped legs going through it. And that’s right. But what is it? Why is it? 87 I remember a man I worked for, Chris Meisner, up here on the corner. Many of you remember Chris Meisner. His wife, Lillian, her name was Lily, I think, an Ellinger. And when she…A man come over. She was a beautiful girl. And a man wanted to get permission from her father, to put her face, her picture, her profile, on a box of candy. And this old German Luthern stood to his feet, and he said, “That’s an insult to me, to put my daughter’s picture on a box of candy, to be spread across the country.” What about today? When, the billboards, the television, everything you see, is immoral, vulgar, sexy, ungodly-looking things. That’s right. What is it? The train, the old—the old train is in her blocks now. The Bible said so, she would be coming pretty soon. We hear the sound. 63-0623e - "The Flashing Red Light Of The Sign Of His Coming" Rev. The year of new guests continues as the 10th anniversary year celebration rolls on! This time we have only two people visiting but we talk to them for quite a long time. Kat Ellinger has made a name for herself in film fanatic circles over the last several years as the editor-in-chief of Diabolique Magazine as well as writing for both that site and the British Film Institute among others. She is a prolific commentary track creator contributing to dozens of Blu-Rays ranging from classic Hollywood to arthouse cinema to Euro-Trash of the filthiest type! She’s even a podcaster, teaming with up with fellow female film fans to discuss cult movies in Daughters of Darkness and Helles Belles. And did I mention her book about the great Sergio Martino? Kat was nice enough to add her voice to this show and chose DOCTOR JEKYLL AND THE WEREWOLF (1972) to dig into. I had a blast talking with her and can’t wait to do it again! Robert Monell has been a guest on The Bloody Pit but never before on this show. His is the writer behind the amazing blog “I’m In a Jess Franco State of Mind” where he has reviewed and dissected the work of that Spanish filmmaker since 2006. He has since branched out into creating extras for various Franco Blu-Ray releases and moved into commentating on movies as well. He also runs the Cinemadrome film forum which hosts some of the most interesting discussions of cult cinema you’ll find on the web. For his visit to this show Mr. Monell chose one of the most problematic of Naschy’s werewolf films, FURY OF THE WOLFMAN (1970). He has some interesting things to say about it starting with digging into the probable origins of its basic plot. It is quite an interesting find! Troy and I end the show with an extended dive into the mailbag to finally catch up on our backlog. We answer a lot of questions and take notes on possible future episode subjects. We can be reached at naschycast@gmail.com or over on the FaceBook page for the show. Let us know what you think and we’ll be back soon with more Spanish Horror!

When Scott Ellinger opened up his restaurant The Brass Rail in O’Fallon, he didn’t have enough money to change the sign. So he kept the name of the previous restaurant. But over the last six years, he has made a name for himself as not only the neighborhood steakhouse but also as the restaurant that serves up the largest Thanksgiving dinner. Ellinger, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, donates and delivers 10,000 meals on Thanksgiving. It’s an effort that takes nearly a week to pull of and results in four tons of food. We sat down with the restaurant owner to talk about giving back, the best way to cook a steak, and why he found himself settling down in St. Louis after living all over the country.

Zbyněk Brynych’s 1965 film The Fifth Horseman is Fear stars Miroslav Macháček as Dr. Braun. The film is ostensibly set during the Nazi occupation of Prague where Dr. Braun isn’t practicing medicine. Instead he’s cataloging the items the Nazis have pilfered from Jews who we can assume have been sent to the slaughter. This is never spoken aloud nor are a lot of other things. Instead, the film is rife with a sense of overwhelming dread that manifests in several interesting ways. Kat Ellinger and Ben Buckingham join Mike in this first #Czechtember2018 entry.

One thing people seem to misunderstand about being a storyteller, or simply about sharing stories, is that a story doesn't have to be flashy or exciting to make it interesting. It doesn't have to involve celebrities or risk of life and limb. As a matter of fact, most people prefer stories they can relate to, that they find humor in, and that connect with them on an emotional level. These are aspects of storytelling that really lend themselves well to video; when we share a story on video, as opposed to in writing or audio-only, we share our facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice, all on a potentially much larger scale than face-to-face performance. Jason and Matt from Beard & Bowler are very familiar with emotionally connecting stories, and are masters at uncovering personal, heroic stories and sharing them with the world. Though that wasn't what they thought they'd be doing with their lives, they have taken on this task with great competence and ambition. Their first hero story was when they realized they were really on to something. Jason's experience as a journalist was what pushed him to seek out these hero stories. He got tired of every story being sad and full of grief; he realized not only was he becoming cynical and accustomed to a similar tragic story every day, he also realized that those stories were self-fulfilling, and that the more we shared them, the more it would become common to experience them. That's when he decided to look for the good stories, the stories of people being compassionate, generous, and making a positive difference in their communities. And not just the big, well-known, celebrity style stories. Jason and Matt look for the stories of people within companies that make great ambassadors both as employees and as people. Listen to the podcast to hear where this motivation comes from, you might be surprised. Visit the Beard & Bowler website to learn more about what they do and how they do it, and connect with Jason and Matt on LinkedIn.

On this special episode of The Comics Alternative, Andy and Derek are joined by the guys at the podcast Comics for Fun and Profit for a lively discussion on trade waiting. They discuss the pros and cons of buying single comic-book issues, the reasons why you may want to wait for a trade instead of getting the monthlies, which current titles work well serialized and which are much better presented in one longer story, and how their personal buying and reading habits affect their preferences for trade editions. This is the first time these two podcasts have experienced a “crossover event,” and given the fun everyone had, it won't be their last.
Today's guest Julie Ellinger Hunt reads from her forthcoming book, In New Jersey, and talks about what inspires her writing and the process of creating a book.

Christopher Ellinger is a multi-talented individual who bridges the worlds of healing arts and philanthropy. Together with his wife Anne, he founded the Zing Foundation which helps generate funding for creative projects that emphasize healing and transformation. Christopher and Anne are also co-directors of True Story Theater, an improvisational performance company that builds community by "playing back" the true life experiences told by members of the audience. On March 24, 2009, Christopher talked with Arts and Healing Network's Director, Mary Daniel Hobson, about his latest project, Arts Rising, which aims, "to increase funding for arts and social change by engaging new and existing donors using the funding circle model and educational programming."
An interview with Christopher Ellinger of Bolder Giving. Christopher and Anne Ellinger were plunged into the philanthropy world when Christopher received an unexpected inheritance at age 21. After ten years of exploring the resources available for people looking to connect their money and values, they decided to put this knowledge to use by helping other wealthy people maximize their positive impact. In 1991, they founded More than Money, a nonprofit peer education network with over 2,000 participants nationwide. Through its publications, gatherings, and web resources, More Than Money helped people with significant financial resources to explore the impact of money in their lives and to act on their highest values.
