The Brewers season ... still over, and now the Mets are done, too, after wreaking a little bit of extra postseason havoc. Could the Brewers have realistically hung with the Dodgers or Yankees in the playoffs? Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss a number of things this week, from the postseason press conference, to the second act of reliever Jake Cousins to some early predictions about how free agency will go and even some names to discuss. But they also revisit some 2024 mysteries that still leave them puzzled. Why did the team insist on playing Rhys Hoskins at first base and Jake Bauers at designated hitter? Why did Bryan Hudson not get a postseason spot? Why did William Contreras keep catching so often? Why did they play ABBA in Game 3? We've reached the end of 162 games and the Milwaukee Brewers won 93 of them. How ... is that possible? Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writer Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe look at the final week of the season, but mostly look ahead to an unusual circumstance, where the playoff opponent is unclear until Monday's makeup games. The Brewers will begin postseason play at home Tuesday against either New York or Arizona, at least we know that much. Which team is the better matchup? How big of a loss is Sal Frelick after an injury over the weekend? Is there any fleeting possibility that Willy Adames returns next year? What other postseason roster decisions are still top of mind, including Bryan Hudson? Fjodor Dostojevskij (1821-1881) skrev annat än romaner. Men varför? I fembandsverket Dostoevsky: A Writer in his Time ger Dostojevskijs levnadstecknare Joseph Frank en bild av deras tillkomst:Skrivandet äger rum helt och hållet efter mörkrets inbrott. Vincent Flink Amble-Naess

Could the Brewers have two all-star starters for the first time in a decade? Remembrew When goes back in time to 1980, when an inside-the-park home run and grand slam happened at the same time. Then, JR sits down with Tyler Black, a rookie infielder with a bright future. Though he was optioned back to Class AAA Nashville at the end of the week, Black has been with the Brewers for multiple stints this year, and he discussed giving up hockey, Canadian baseball, his first memories of Milwaukee playing for Wright State at Hank Aaron Field, the automatic strike zone and his defense. A 3-4 West Coast road trip doesn't sound too bad, but the Brewers pitching staff continues to take on water; just what solutions can the Brewers muster to stay afloat through the final three-plus months? Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss the surging Tobias Myers, the return of Freddy Peralta but the question marks elsewhere on the staff, including in the bullpen. William Contreras has been struggling for a month, leading JR to invoke a comparison to the dreaded 2014 season. Sal Frelick saved the day with an unforgettable catch, but is he the leading candidate to go down to Nashville if and when Garrett Mitchell returns? What's the deal with one highly regarded modern statistic regarding the home-run saving leap as ... routine? Plus, discussion on Jackson Chourio's sprint speed and continued improvement, a Brice Turang grand slam and Remembrew When goes back in time to a legendary moment in Milwaukee from the late Willie Mays. Curt Blanche then questions if the Brewers are limiting how much they can get out of one of their best players. Then, JR is joined by Lee Kluck (1:05:00), who wrote the new book "Leave While the Party's Good: The Life and Legacy of Baseball Executive Harry Dalton." Dalton, a former Brewers general manager, led the franchise to its first brush with greatness, including the 1982 World Series. Snoop Dogg! Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe spent quite a bit of time talking about the rap legend in the house Saturday, but they did find some time to talk about a 4-2 week of Brewers baseball, chock full of exciting endings. That included Sunday, when Blake Perkins' throw home helped atone for a big-time miscue earlier in the series. Plus: Freddy Peralta is struggling, and so is Sal Frelick. Does the former mean the team is more likely to trade for a starter, and is the latter a pre-cursor to a trip back to Nashville? Jackson Chourio is heating up, and Three Up/Three Down starts with "generational player" Joey Ortiz. Remembrew When looks back at a wild moment in Brewers history that included Bill Schroeder, the longtime announcer who was celebrated Friday for his 30th year on the mic. Then, JR sits down with Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen, an Appleton West native reaching an interesting juncture in his career as free agency looms. An injury to Robert Gasser has further thrown the Brewers starting rotation in flux, with another top prospect in line to make a start Tuesday as the Brewers return home. All things considered, a 2-4 week isn't terrible considering the Brewers faced two and maybe three Cy Young contenders. Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe recap the six games and again find themselves wondering how the team is supposed to hold the pitching staff together, though Aaron Ashby and Tobias Myers delivered some encouraging performances. The offense has another double-digit scoring performance, but there are a couple red flags: The homers have vanished, and William Contreras is slumping. Rhys Hoskins' return to Philadelphia is among the topics in Three Up, Three Down, and after a huge Myers start, Steve Woodard's gem is the topic in Remembrew When. Then, JR chats with Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Gordon Wittenmyer, who follows the Reds but also previously covered the Cubs and knows both teams intimately. The Reds just snuck past the Cubs in the standings; are they suddenly the team to beat? What's his take on how Chicago is reacting to the early struggles of the Cubs under Craig Counsell? What a wild week of baseball in Milwaukee, with both Chicago teams coming to American Family Field and leaving with only one win. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss the many twists and turns of the week, including the heroics of Blake Perkins, Gary Sánchez and Willy Adames, the 23-hit game against the White Sox and another dust-up Sunday.  Remembrew When looks back at a 31-hit onslaught against Toronto in 1992 and Curt Blanche takes issue with one particular stat measurement. Fjodor Dostojevskij (1821-1881) skrev annat än romaner. Men varför? The Daily Hustle Podcast

With tomorrow being the 244th birthday of the United States of America, I would like to share the letter that John Adams wrote to Abigail Adams almost a quarter millennium ago...   “Time has been given for the whole People, maturely to consider the great Question of Independence and to ripen their judgments, dissipate their Fears, and allure their Hopes, by discussing it in News Papers and Pamphletts, by debating it, in Assemblies, Conventions, Committees of Safety and Inspection, in Town and County Meetings, as well as in private Conversations, so that the whole People in every Colony of the 13, have now adopted it, as their own Act. -- This will cement the Union, and avoid those Heats and perhaps Convulsions which might have been occasioned, by such a Declaration Six Months ago. But the Day is past. The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. -- I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. -- Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.” In the tumultuous time that we happen to be living in let's remember and celebrate those who paved the way and gave birth to this great nation...  Like John Adams suggested, it will cost us “toil and blood and treasure” to uphold and maintain the Declaration of Independence and I know I am grateful for all who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice their time, energy, effort and lives to maintain the principles of democracy that allow us to constantly challenge the status quo and strive to achieve the American dream of liberty and justice for all... Our country is not perfect but I do believe we are ever evolving with the intentions of progressing forward… Yes, there is gloom in today's world just as there was in 1776, but there are also “rays of ravishing light and glory.”  No matter where you stand on the political spectrum or what subjective thoughts you currently have about our country and it's fractioned leadership, let freedom fucking ring this weekend...  We've worked hard for it.  -EB P.S. Naturalistický román Jerzyho Kosinského Nabarvené ptáče bývá označován za jedno z nejzásadnějších děl světové literatury. V těchto dnech měla premiéru jeho filmová adaptace v režii Václava Marhoula a vydavatelství OneHotBook přispěchalo s audioknižní podobou. Nabarvené ptáče čtou Jiří Köhler a Jan Kačer. Audioknihu Souhvězdí Gulag Karla Pecky čtou Miroslav Táborský a Lukáš Hlavica, vydává Daniel Pagáč a Tebenas. Příběhy z alternativního Československa Verschluss, napsal Karel Drexler, čte František Dočkal a vydává Epocha. Fakt hustej nářez je druhým pokračováním kultovního akčního sci-fi Františka Kotlety ze série Bratrstvo krve. O legendárním střetu upírů proti mimozemšťanům bude vyprávět Richard Fiala, audioknihu vydává Epocha. Markéta Hejkalová se ve své knize Fin Mika Waltari věnuje životu a dílu světoznámého spisovatele a vykládá ho v kontextu kulturního a společenského klimatu ve Finsku první poloviny dvacátého století. V audioknižní podobě účinkují Jan Kačer a Renata Volfová, vydává Hejkal a Audiotéka.

V Zapomenuté vraždě dodala Růžena Merunková postavě slečny Marplové kouzelný šarm a nadhled. Dále uslyšíme Jitku Ježkovou a Jana Medunu. Inspirace klasickými detektivkami, plíživé sílící napětí a hororové vyústění s šokujícím odhalením. Román Shary Lapeny Nevítaný host s podtitulem Není kam utéct čtou Martina Hudečková a Libor Hruška, vydává Kalibr jako člen Euromedia Group. Audiokniha Smrt krále Šumavy vychází ze skutečností, známých z filmu Král Šumavy režiséra Karla Kachyni. Příběh ze současných Čech od Martina Sichingera přivádí posluchače ke starým příběhům šumavského pohraničí. Čte je Kajetán Písařovic, vydává Audiotéka a 65. pole. České národní pohádky Boženy Němcové, Karla Jaromíra Erbena a dalších autorů s hudebním doprovodem a v podání například Václava Vydry, Jany Bouškové nebo Veroniky Gajerové. Aired 08/11/09 It is my privilege to have Latin America's most acclaimed writers, EDUARDO GALEANO. I confess I was not aware of him until Hugo Chavez presented Barack Obama with one of his books. For that introduction, I thank the Venzuelan President. GALEANO's works are a unique blend of history, fiction, journalism and political analysis, and his life is so much more than that. Born in Uruguay in 1940, EDUARDO GALEANO began writing newspaper articles as a teenager, by the age of 20 he became Editor-in-Chief of LaMarcha. A few years later, he took the top post at Montevideo's daily newspaper Epocha. At 31, he wrote his most famous book - Chavez gift -- The Open Veins Of Latin America: Five Centuries Of The Pillage Of A Continent. After the 1973 military coup in Uruguay, GALEANO was imprisoned and forced to leave the country. He settled in Argentina where he founded and edited a cultural magazine, Crisis. After the 1976 military coup there, he moved to Spain where he began his classic work Memory of Fire, a three-volume narrative of the history of America, North and South. He eventually returned home to his native Uruguay where he now lives. http://www.sigloxxieditores.com/ http://www.progressive.org/galeano
