Stephen Roach is a Senior Fellow at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and a Senior Lecturer at Yale’s School of Management, where his research and teaching focus on the impacts of Asia on the global economy. One of Wall Street’s most influential economists, Prof. Roach spent more than 30 years at Morgan Stanley, where he was the Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia and the bank’s Chief Economist. He has written extensively on globalization, trade policy, and international finance. Last October, Prof. Roach published an article in the Financial Times titled “The end of the dollar’s exorbitant privilege.” He argues that the dollar could fall as much as 35 percent by the end of 2021. In this interview, Prof. Roach walks us through the reasoning behind his arguments and discusses the economic and political significance of a dollar crash, mainly pointing to two metrics – a decline in domestic savings and an increase in the current account deficit. Domestic savings was at 1.4% of national income in Q1 2020, compared to the 45-year average of ~7%. The current account deficit plunged to -3.5% of GDP in the second quarter, the sharpest quarterly decline on record, and the massive stimulus package will further blow up the deficit. What are the implications of such a dramatic dollar crash in valuation, both in the U.S. and abroad? How have the current monetary and fiscal policy regimes exacerbated this issue? And is there anything the U.S. can do to prevent the fall of the dollar? We also touch on another important market trend: the rise of Bitcoin. Despite the cryptocurrency’s increasing popularity and legitimacy among institutional investors and corporations – most notably Elon Musk and Tesla – Prof. Roach is skeptical about its potential as a global currency. We discuss the implications of Bitcoin’s rise and the difficulty of valuing an asset with no traditional fundamentals. On one hand, Tiger argues that Bitcoin has never been supported by fundamentals but always by narratives and people’s faith in it. As long as the faith for Bitcoin is strong enough, as long as people’s doubt on the dollar and other forms of assets are strong enough, and as long as the hunt for yield continues, Bitcoin’s price will just keep shooting up. Prof. Roach counter-argues that by definition speculative bubbles do not go on forever; they always burst. When an asset turns into a speculative bubble, that means people are buying the asset just under the expectation that the prices will keep going up. So by definition, it’s an investor play on price appreciation that is detached from the fundamental value of the asset. That detachment can go on for a lot longer than we think, but ultimately it reasserts itself when the price point involved, for reasons that are very different for each asset, gets so far detached that just the slightest, inconsequential shifts can lead to the bursting of the bubble. Lastly, having spent the bulk of his career on Wall Street, Prof. Roach critiques the Fed’s monetary policy in the past few decades and reflects on his own forecasting career. He addresses the impact of the Fed’s rapid balance sheet expansion, which some argue is inflating prices of financial assets held by the private sector and, in doing so, primarily benefiting the wealthy. Do there exist more equitable ways of stimulating the economy besides Quantitative Easing (QE)? And, if so, what can the Fed do to implement them? This is a far-reaching conversation beyond mere topics of the dollar dominance, Bitcoin, and the GameStop saga. It’s about piecing together the large macro-financial trends we’ve witnessed in the past few decades and trying to make sense of what might come next.
Last October, an annual assessment by the Department of Homeland Security found that violent white supremacy was the ‘most persistent and lethal threat in the homeland’ and that white supremacists were the most deadly among domestic terrorists in recent years. What do we know about all the domestic militia groups in the US and what can the Biden administration do to quell the threats and violence?
In 2018, the City of Baltimore filed climate change litigation in state court against multiple energy companies seeking damages from the impact of climate change. The energy companies moved the lawsuit to federal court, arguing it was the proper venue; however, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland disagreed and ruled the case belonged in state court. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia affirmed the lower court’s decision and the energy companies appealed to the United States Supreme Court. Last October, the justices granted their petition for writ of certiori requesting review of the Fourth Circuit’s ruling remanding the case to state court. Oral arguments are set for Tuesday, January 19th.Indiana Solicitor General Tom Fisher joins us to preview this pivotal hearing, the implications for similar litigation around the country and his role in leading a 15-state coalition that is taking a stand against climate change litigation.Featuring:-- Thomas M. Last October, UNCDF named the investment management industry leader and philanthropist Sonia Gardner as Goodwill Ambassador for Gender Equality in Access to Finance—making her the first goodwill ambassador in the 50+ year history of UNCDF. In her role, Ms. Gardner will focus on advocating for ways to give women access to economic resources, including the capital they need to start and grow businesses, lift their families out of poverty, and in doing so, help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNCDF's Esther Pan Sloane interviewed Sonia about her professional journey as a pioneer of alternative investments, the challenges women face in reaching leadership positions in the financial sector, and her motivations for joining UNCDF as Goodwill Ambassador.

Last October following the re-election of indigenous president Evo Morales in Bolivia, the United States backed a coup that successfully forced him out of power. The coup regime reversed many of the gains made under Morales and waged violent and austerity policies against the people. A new presidential election was held this past weekend largely because of massive popular mobilizations over the summer that demanded them. I speak with Camila Escalante of Telesur English and Kawsachun News about the coup, the protests and the recent election. For more information, visit PopularResistance.org.
Last October, we created an Expendables of Horror movie featuring only living actors. This year, Joanna from Bloody Popcorn, Evan Hanson, Rob Graham, and Michael May resurrect their favorite dead actors to create an all-star cast. They pick the actors, discuss the types of roles they'd play, and Evan writes a plot. Listen and imagine The Evil Hunters... IF YOU DARE!
Title: One Body Text: Various FCF: We often struggle applying our faith communally rather than simply personally. Prop: Because our faith is communal, we must celebrate the Lord’s Table communally. Scripture Intro: [Slide 1] Turn in your bible to I Corinthians chapter 12. For about a year, the church leadership and I have been re-evaluating and exploring our understanding of The Lord’s Supper. Last October, we really began a deep study of what this ordinance of Christ actually means for the church and specifically – for CBC. To date, we have taught on our new perspective of the Lord’s Supper three times. Each time there was a particular emphasis or goal in the teaching. Each time we have honed our understanding a little more. Today – I feel a little bit cheap in that most of what we are going to discuss is review. However, I feel it necessary to do so for a couple reasons. First, since we have not done these sermons in a series, we as frail humans, tend to forget what we have learned. Second, because so much information is being communicated so quickly, it is hard to actually learn anything when being blasted for 45 minutes with it and then not touching it again for a bit. In short, the reason we are going to do some review today is because I probably didn’t teach you this information the way I should have. The upside is that in the drawn-out process of teaching this, I have had the time to understand it better and better. The downside is – I may be the only one that does.
Kate founded One Young World 10 years ago whilst Global President and UK Group Chairman of Havas Worldwide, in response to what she saw as a growing leadership vacuum in business, politics and civil society. Its goal is to identify, promote and connect the world’s most impactful activists to create a better world, with more responsible and effective leadership.During her time at Havas,Kate was the world’s most senior woman in advertising. Taking inspiration from her mother, the first woman in South Africa to become a Board member, she has always fought for young voices to be heard – and her policy of inviting under 30-year-old’s to join the Havas Board was a first of its kind. From its work in peacebuilding with the European Commission, to creating the world’s largest ever investment in youth-led SDGs initiatives, One Young World has become the definitive voice on young leaders – with a community of over 10,000 under-35-year-old activists from over 190 countries. As a result, it has garnered the support of some of the world’s greatest activists – from Bob Geldof, to the late Kofi Annan, Emma Watson, Meghan Markle and Paul Polman, amongst many other global figures.Last October, One Young World returned to its London home to celebrate its tenth anniversary – in what was the city’s most international event since the 2012 Olympics. The annual Summit gathered 2,000 leading young activists from over 190 countries – with notable guests including HRH the Duchess of Sussex and JK Rowling.Kate’s experience led her to co-author a recent book on how to successfully make a difference in today’s society. ‘How to Make a Difference’ is a guidebook that captures the experience of those she has worked closely with, including the young people at the forefront of movements from the Hong Kong protests to Black Lives Matter.(Interviewed by Chris Joannou @DREAMPUSHERS).

n an effort to promote the reopening of Las Vegas, casino mogul Derek Stevens is giving away 1000 free flights to town. Many of the flights will originate from his home town of Detroit. Grand Rapids is another city in Michigan with a number of scheduled flights. Stevens owns the D Casino and The Golden Gate in the downtown section of Las Vegas. His goal is to help jump start the sagging local economy. Las Vegas tourism the past two and a half months all but disappeared. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak shut things down in mid-March to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Tracking The Updated Las Vegas Casino OpeningsLas Vegas is once again abuzz with activity. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak gave casinos the green light to reopen their doors for business starting Thursday, June 4. Many area properties are busy preparing their casinos, bars and restaurants for the return of guests in the coming days. Downtown casinos Plaza, El Cortez and the Golden Nuggets all plan to be open right away. Caesars Entertainment has targeted Caesars Palace and the Flamingo for June 4. Other prominent casinos on the Las Vegas Strip planning to open include the Bellagio, MGM Grand and New York-New York. The Venetian is also on the list. Thermal Cameras Checking Temperatures at Casino EntrancesThe Nevada Gaming Control Board has been rather specific when it comes to the requirements to reopen a casino. The earliest date is Thursday, June 4 and an approved plan needs to already be in place. That plan includes safety protocols for sanitizing facilities and promoting social distancing on the casino floor. Another requirement is checking the temperature of guests as they enter the building. One option is the use of thermal cameras as a noninvasive way to accomplish this task. Installing these types of cameras is a costly proposition. There is also no guarantee they will work as planned. GamebetDC Makes Its Official DebutIt took longer than expected but GamebetDC is finally up and running. Powered by the DC Lottery, this brings online sports betting to Washington, DC. The original start-up date was in March but this was delayed by the coronavirus outbreak. Betting is currently available on the website. There are plans to launch the mobile betting app some time later in June. The initial delay took place last year because of a lawsuit. Last October, the Washington DC Superior Court ruled in the District’s favor. This enabled the Greek-based company Intralot to continue its effort to build the online betting platform.

Last October, Rogan said: “They’re scrambling for control. They want to control the way people communicate. And they also want to make a profit. See part of this is they’re incentivizing people to do shows that they can profit off of. On this show, we talk to the leaders of the Cannabis industry. Farmers, CEOs, public officials, anyone making an impact on the cannabis community and beyond. Being a leader in cannabis means existing at the whims of regulation. That's especially true for companies that make a cannabis derivative, for instance edibles, needing to meet food safety standards and vulnerabilities on both sides. JT Thompson is the Owner and General Manager of Sublime Solutions in Oregon. They specialize in cannabis extractions and they're the good stuff in a number of leading vape products. Last October, after two deaths possibly linked to vaping in the state of Oregon. Oregon’s Governor issued a six-month ban on all flavored vape products, which clearly was going to be a problem for JT. They will talk about surviving that, JT's wild personal story, and how he's navigating the current coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday night, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro met with reporters in Brasília. The country had surpassed China in the total number of deaths from the coronavirus and had just registered its highest death count in a 24-hour period: 474 people. In China, 82,858 cases have been confirmed to date, with the official death toll at 4,633. As of Wednesday, Brazil has seen 74,493 infections and 5,158 deaths.“So what? I'm sorry, what do you want me to do about it?” Bolsonaro said Tuesday. His statement went viral, as did the response. Related: As the coronavirus drags on, Mexico's food prices soarOn Monday, the Supreme Court ordered an inquiry into Bolsonaro’s alleged interference with police investigations for political gain. This case against him stems from allegations made by Bolsonaro’s former star Justice Minister Sérgio Moro’s resignation, who stepped down after the president fired federal police chief Maurício Valeixo.“It’s clear that there was interference in the federal police,” Moro told reporters on Friday when he announced his resignation. “The president told me more than once that he wanted someone in direct contact with him. He wanted to be able to call someone. He wanted to be able to have access to information and intelligence reports.”It’s widely held that Bolsonaro’s sudden interest in the federal police stems from his hope to block criminal inquiries into his three sons, who are under investigation for a series of crimes, including running a fake news scheme, money laundering and embezzlement.According to the Supreme Court documents, there are seven accusations against the president, including malfeasance and obstruction of justice. The federal police now have 60 days to question Moro over the charges. If confirmed, Congress could begin a process of impeachment. So far, 31 requests for impeachment have been submitted to Lower House Speaker Rodrigo Maia, including from members of Bolsonaro’s previous allies. But Maia has so far said impeachment is not the priority amid the coronavirus crisis.Regardless, the turmoil isn’t likely to encourage the president to change his tone.“Bolsonarism is a political ideology that depends on enemies. If they don’t exist, the president has to invent them every couple of days. In order to justify his behavior and mobilize his followers, he consistently needs new enemies and traitors.”Maurício Santoro, Rio de Janeiro State University“Bolsonarism is a political ideology that depends on enemies. He has more military officials in his government than any since the end of the dictatorship — a third of his cabinet members, including his vice president and chief of staff — have military backgrounds.Related: Bolsonaro’s denial of coronavirus puts the country at risk“There is much to be concerned about. There is always a type of military threat hanging over the heads of the Brazilian people,” said Emiliano Jose, a retired journalism professor, who was detained and tortured for many years under a dictatorship in Brazil. “So, you live in a state of permanent siege.”The Brazilian dictatorship was a brutal period. Hundreds of people were disappeared. Thousands were imprisoned. Roughly 30,000 were tortured, according to a 2007 report from a government commission investigating state crimes. In Brazil, the threat of military rule is never far from sight. On the night Bolsonaro won the October 2018 presidential elections, gun-wielding soldiers in fatigues celebrated by riding through the streets of Niterói on top of a procession of military transport vehicles.Last October, the president’s son, congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro, told a reporter that if leftist Brazilians hit the streets in mass protests, the government would have to sink the country into a dictatorship, suspending habeas corpus and the rule of law. This rhetoric actually goes over well with Bolsonaro’s supporters, many of whom look back on the military regime with nostalgia for what they call order and progress. On the heels of military rule, truth commissions revealed the horrors of the past, but no one has ever been held responsible.Related: Bolsonaro is still downplaying the coronavirus. Many worry about the impact on the most vulnerable.Federal University of Santa Catarina Historian Cristina Wolff says this failure to confront Brazil’s dark history is key to understanding why many still feel empowered to demand its return.“I do believe that this issue of never holding anyone accountable for the crimes of the dictatorship makes a big difference. Because in Argentina, where torturers were brought to justice, people could watch the trials on TV. The press covered it. So, the people had to remember.”Cristina Wolff, Federal University of Santa Catarina“I do believe that this issue of never holding anyone accountable for the crimes of the dictatorship makes a big difference,” she said. “Because in Argentina, where torturers were brought to justice, people could watch the trials on TV. The press covered it. So, the people had to remember.”We are not likely to see tanks rolling on the streets in the coming days. But the strength of the military is expected to grow inside Bolsonaro’s government as it descends into deeper turmoil and attempts to battle the growing financial, political and health crises. That, more than anything else, may be driving Bolsonaro’s rhetoric these days.
Al Gore is back and he’s got a new slide show. Better take heed. Last October the former Vice President, Nobel Prize-winner and Academy Award-winner for An Inconvenient Truth, together with activist, restaurateur, and founder of The Edible Schoolyard, Alice Waters, gathered farmers, ranchers, scientists, chefs, researchers, policymakers on Al's family farm in Carthage, Tennessee for a riveting set of conversations about the role of food and regenerative agriculture in solving the climate crisis. They called the two day event, The Climate Underground. Along with the conversations, some of Nashville’s hottest chefs and dedicated regenerative farmers joined Alice to create a sustainable organic school lunch for the 350 participants to highlight the power of local, school supported agriculture in nurturing the health of children and the land. This event happened long before the moment we all find ourselves in right now, as the coronavirus pandemic sweeps across the planet. But it holds the seeds and hope for a different approach to our future and the fate of the planet we all share. In honor of Earth Day, The Kitchen Sisters Present...The Climate Underground.

There's a special friendship at North Battleford's McKitrick Community School between a class of young students and a group of financial advisors that is bringing out the best in the community. In 2017, six investment advisors at RBC Dominion Securities formed a friendship with a group of kindergarten students. The advisors, which include Untapped producer Rob Rongve, wanted to partner with the community school to ensure that every student in this kindergarten class would graduate in 2030. I remember hearing Rob on CBC Radio in September of 2018 talk about why he and his colleagues were doing this, and you couldn't help but feel inspired!Since that first class, more businesses and non-profits have stepped up to help students at McKitrick Community School graduate and become the future leaders of our communities.Last October, McKitrick hosted a ceremony to celebrate this year's future graduates...the class of 2032!I wasn't able to make to the ceremony but Untapped's photographer Matt Jacques was there...camera AND microphone in hand! What you're about to hear is a series of interviews Matt conducted with a variety of people who are all involved in this amazing project. A big thanks to Matt for doing so much work to make this episode possible!Don't forget to subscribe to Untapped on your favourite podcast app and give the podcast a five-star rating!Thank you for listening.Cheers...Eric
Last October, Facebook announced that it would not fact-check political ads. And that decision angered a lot of people: outside, but also inside the company. To talk about Facebook's policy, and the potential risks of such a decision ahead of the 2020 presidential election, we sit down with Yaël Eisenstat. She's a former CIA officer and national security advisor to Vice-President Joe Biden. And in 2018, she served as Facebook's Head of Global Elections Integrity Operations for six months.
Last October, when Eliud Kipchoge broke the two-hour marathon barrier, there was a lot of scepticism about the shoes that he wore. These were the new, never seen before, Nike Vaporfly shoes, with carbon plates, patented foam and air pods. People made allegations of 'technological doping'. Now, World Athletics has taken a call to ban the use of such shoes that some are calling the 'democratisation of the running shoe'. In this episode, Mihir Vasavda and Nihal Koshie talk about this controversy and how it will impact the sport. Last October, railway employee unions staged protests against Tejas Express, the country's first private train that runs between Lucknow and Delhi. The All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) held nationwide protests to oppose the railway board's decision to launch Tejas and give another 150 trains to be operated by the private sector. Who owns Tejas and railways moving towards privatisation? So, let’s start with October 2019, when the Indian Railways made history by flagging off India’s first private train Tejas Express between Lucknow and Delhi. Now understand, despite being supported by corporate players, the train is essentially managed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the Indian Railways. What does ‘private train’ mean ? The Railway Board has made it clear that none of the physical operations and infrastructure – including safety-related operations – will be handled by private players. In case of Tejas, the locomotives, coaches, loco pilots and security personnel are provided by the Railways, while onboard services such as ticketing, catering and housekeeping were managed by private contractors entrusted by IRCTC. The concept of private train isn’t unique to India, countries like Japan already have a well established network. Next, the passengers. Considering the hefty amount of money you have to pay while traveling in such trains, what are the benefits provided? Besides, modern facilities like air-conditioned coaches, clean and high-quality food, CCTV cameras, LED TVs, automatic doors, bio-toilets and mobile charging points, a free insurance of Rs 25 lakh is provided to every passenger. What’s more, a bold move of compensating passengers for train delays on an hourly basis was introduced by the Railways, which has traditionally faced heat for lack of punctuality. Well, even if it looks like a cake walk, since aided by the corporate players, the Railways also have challenges ahead. A major change will be market-linked pricing for tickets, ensuring passengers pay according to demand. Besides, ensuring the safety and security of passengers while keeping private parties happy will be another challenge. Similarly, infrastructure capability of tracks should also be improved, as planned in the Mumbai-Delhi and Delhi-Mumbai routes, where the existing tracks, signalling and speed of the trains will be improved. And to bring in more private players, the average and maximum speeds of passenger trains should also be raised from the existing 40-45 km per hour and 160 kmph, respectively. What’s next? A concept paper floated by Niti Aayog states that 100 paths will be bundled into 10-12 clusters covering 150 trains. This may unwind an investment opportunity of Rs 22,500 crore from national and international private players having a minimum net worth of Rs 450 crore each. Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav said the bids that will be floated in this regard very soon, will be based on a revenue-sharing model. The concession period given for companies will be... Rarely does something impact my life the way Cultivate What Matters’ PowerSheets has and ::spoiler alert:: I am totally in love! Trust me. In this podcast episode, I want to share a little bit more about how PowerSheets helped me, how the whole thing works, and why this product (and process) meant so much to me, especially this year. 2018 was a really rough year for me. In fact, at the start of 2019 I was feeling like I was on my last leg. I bit the bullet and bought the PowerSheets, hoping that this “goal planner” was the thing I needed to get back on track. Ultimately, the goal of PowerSheets is to, as the name of the company suggests, Cultivate What Matters throughout the year. Studies have shown that once you write down a goal, you’re 42 percent more likely to achieve it. The PowerSheets are laid out so that you start by writing down your big goals, then you break them down into smaller “action plans” so they’re even more likely to come to fruition. Last October, I went back to the beginning of the book and looked at my 2019 goals and realized that I ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED ALL MY GOALS! I would say that PowerSheets is, hands down, the best investment I made in my business last year. I did masterclasses, went on an expensive retreat, and I invested a ton into my business and myself. While I loved each of those experiences and took a lot away from them, PowerSheets is the BEST thing I did! His one funnel away challenge review and success story. I asked Chris to come out for a quick interview here on level up podcast but he mentioned that he is not a podcast person. Chris we love you! The one funnel away challenge from clickfunnels supports you from day 1 to day 30 to help you get your funnel LIVE in just 30 days. Join the next one funnel away challenge for just $100 CLICK HERE I also prepared some very special bonuses for you guys when you take on the challenge so make sure to get and check it out When you’re new to ClickFunnels, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. The software can be a little intimidating when you first try it out. And once you’re up and running, you still might be unclear about how exactly to use it to help your business. Do you want to sell your own product or service? Perhaps you want to build funnels for other clients? Or how about just promoting ClickFunnels as an affiliate? As you can imagine, there are so many ways you can use ClickFunnels. And for some people, that’s scary. They want some direction. And that’s why you will frequently see people in the ClickFunnels’ Facebook groups asking around what the best training for ClickFunnels is. But now there’s only one right answer to that question. And the answer is the One Funnel Away Challenge I’ve purchased the course three times now, and it’s really changed my business. So in this review I’m going to show you everything you’re going to get as part of the challenge and how it’s going to help you. What is the One Funnel Away Challenge? The One Funnel Away Challenge is a 30 day training that guides you step by step on launching your first (or next) funnel. The course is provided by your three coaches. Russell Brunson, Julie Stoian, and Stephen Larsen. Russell of course, is the co-founder of ClickFunnels and his videos in the challenge are all about teaching you the strategy and the “why” behind that days mission. Julie Stoian, an 8 figure entrepreneur herself, is the 2nd coach. Her videos show the “how” part of the training. So she goes step-by-step in her videos to guide you how to actually implement what Russell talks about in the previous lesson. And finally the 3rd coach is Stephen Larsen. He conducts the live group calls and is basically your accountability coach. If you are familiar with Stephen at all from his podcast, SALES FUNNEL RADIO WITH STEVE, you’ll know that he’s always full of energy and makes things fun. There are 5 weeks worth of lessons in the challenge. The first week is the pre-training which will get you in the proper mindset for the reset of the challenge. Then over the next 4 weeks you will get daily lessons with links in your inbox. Every training builds upon each other, so it’s very important that you go through them in order. And, there’s even homework to do to make sure you are applying what you learn. What exactly are you going to be learning? Here’s a map of the entire challenge: The One Funnel Away Challenge is hosted inside the FunnelHacker Community. What’s nice about platform is that you get to interact directly with your fellow OFA participants. This provides another source of accountability for you to complete each days missions. Why I signed up for the One Funnel Away Challenge (Three times!) Last October, I spent $100 to get my hands on the 30 Day Challenge hardcover book. The book contains a set of plans from 30 “Two Comma Club” winners, who were presented with the scenario of having lost everything, how would they rebuild their business from scratch. I got my book and it was really interesting and great. I still have it on my desk for reference. As part of the 30 Day Challenge, I also got access to something called the One Funnel Away Challenge. I would get daily emails in my inbox telling me about these “Missions” I had to do, but since I was busy during this time, I didn’t check out any of the content. However, during the last week of the challenge, I finally got a chance to watch the first OFA video titled ‘Offer Hacking’. “Hook, story, offer… “ “Hook, story, offer…” Wow, that was an eye opening first video. It literally hooked me. I thought to myself, even though I’m behind, I’m going to set aside the time and go through this course! There was only one problem. I didn’t know that all the content would be taken offline at the end of the challenge. Oops. What do I do now? Fortunately, I saw that all the videos were actually posted as unlisted videos on Youtube. So I quickly went through and found all the video urls and recorded them in my notes. This allowed me to work through the One Funnel Away Challenge on my own time. And it was totally worth it. I was able to get so much value from the challenge. Here are a few of the lessons that I directly implemented in my own business: Week 1 Mission 1: Offer Hacking. This was the lesson that sucked me into the training. It was all about doing research on what other successful people were doing on Facebook by looking at their ads. What was cool about this lesson is that it validated this Chrome extension idea I had in my head. And that gave me the push to build my first product, Ad Extractor, which pulls Facebook ads from any Facebook page in just one click. Week 1 Mission 4: The Lost Art of the Visual. I always knew design was important, but as non-designer I’ve always been reluctant to invest in design for my business. This lesson emphasized the importance of creating visuals to make your offers stand out. So that’s what I did. I went to over to Funnel Rolodex and hired someone to create some new design assets for me. I got designs for my entire ClickFunnels bonus stack done, and they look really nice. This was one of the main reasons I feel my ClickFunnels affiliate commissions shot up directly. And after that I started using Design Pickle so I could get more designs done. Week 2 Mission 2: The Epiphany Bridge. I was already familiar with the framework from reading the Expert Secrets book. But the lesson really hit home that I should really be incorporating these stories into everything I do. So because of this lesson I’ve been practicing following the script and you’ll notice that I’m using a lot more stories into my writing. The One Funnel Away Challenge has been such a boom for my business that I bought it a second time when it relaunched in January. This was mainly to get the cool OFA Challenge Kit And the third time? I wanted to get access to the amazing Affiliate Bootcamp offer. What’s Else Do You Get With the One Funnel Away Challenge? One of the things that Russell teaches, and what you’ll learn in the challenge is to create a bonus stack for any offer. And the One Funnel Away Challenge is no different. Besides the training itself, you’re going to get a physical package sent to your house in the form of your OFA Challenge Kit. It was a big thrill when I received it. Here is what you’ll find inside the kit: “30 Days” Hardcover book. This is a 550 page book packed with detailed plans from 30 ‘Two Comma Club’ members on how they would start their business over if they lost everything. The book is amazing, and I’ve learned so much from studying it. eived it in the mail! Spiral bound copy of the One Funnel Away Challenge workbook. You’ll also get a physical workbook that you can use to complement the 30 days of trainings. Inside, you’ll find a checklist of the tasks that you’ll need to complete for each days challenge. There’s also space to brain storm your ideas, and links to the videos for each of the missions. MP3 player. Inside this MP3 player are all the audio recording of both Russell’s daily trainings and recordings of Stephen’s Live coaching calls that he did during the first challenge. What’s nice is it gives you the ability to go through the challenge lessons when you’re at the gym or commuting to work. Everything else you need to know about the One Funnel Away Challenge How much does the One Funnel Away Challenge cost? It will cost you $100 to get the One Funnel Away Challenge. If you want the OFA Challenge Kit, you will have to pay shipping which is $19.95 if you live in the US and $29.95 outside the US. You also now have the option to buy the Digital Only version of the OFA Challenge, which doesn’t come with the kit. Is there any guarantee? Yes, if you send back your challenge kit within 30 days of it arriving, then you will get refunded $100. But since it costs so much to ship, it’s probably not worth it to do this. I don’t have a lot of time to watch videos every day. Should I still join the challenge? If you don’t have an hour or so a day required to watch the challenge videos, then I don’t recommend signing up. It’s very easy to get fall behind, and when that happens you will have a difficult time catching up. Does it have an affiliate program? Yes, it has the One Funnel Away Challenge has a great affiliate program. It’s a super easy way to cover your own cost of the OFA. Why? Because it pays 100% commissions. So you only need to sell one course to someone else to make your money back. Since the One Funnel Away Challenge is pretty much the best ClickFunnels training at the moment, it’s a very easy sell. But I would definitely recommend going through it first, so you fully understand how it works. Here’s how many I’ve personally sold so far: How are the OFA Challenge and the Affiliate Bootcamp offers related? The Affiliate Bootcamp is a really cool new front end offer that was recently introduced. It’s a free virtual summit where 15 of ClickFunnels’ top affiliates map out step by step how they would promote ClickFunnels if starting from scratch. But the exciting opportunity with promoting it is that it upsells the One Funnel Away Challenge. Not only will people get access to the OFA, but they will get lifetime access to the Affiliate Bootcamp Blueprints as well. This is a very compelling offer that really converts well. Do I need to have an existing product to sell to join the challenge? While the challenge is well suited for people wanting to sell their own products and services, you don’t necessarily need to have one of your own. That’s because the lessons apply to selling affiliate products as well. So you could use the training to help you sell ClickFunnels or any other affiliate product if you want. Final Thoughts I go through a lot of different courses, but the One Funnel Away Challenge was the best training I went through last year. I had so many ‘aha’ moments that I was then able to apply immediately to my own affiliate business. That’s what made the challenge so exciting for me. Just make sure you can block out the time required to go through the training. I know it’s hard sometimes because life gets in the way. But it’s totally worth it. Last October, the IPCC reported that we must cut global emissions in half by 2030 to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Faced with the enormous task of decarbonizing our economies and radically transforming nearly all systems of life, we must dream into new and ancient futures. At the heart of this calling for transition lies evermore urgent questions of justice: How will power and resources be distributed? Whose voices will be represented and needs prioritized? Join us with Jade Begay and Julian Brave NoiseCat for a live recording at Bioneers 2019, as they share their thoughts on decolonizing a just transition and recentering Indigenous leadership within the movement. Jade Begay is a filmmaker, communications strategist, impact producer, and climate justice activist. Jade’s work explores Indigenous futurism, inclusion, and representation in the media landscape. Jade has partnered with organizations like Resource Media, United Nations Universal Access Project, 350.org, Indigenous Environmental Network, Sierra Club, Bioneers, Indigenous Climate Action, the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network, Allied Media Projects, and Tribal Nations from the Arctic to the Amazon to create content, develop strategies, and storytelling campaigns to mobilize and create more engagement around these urgent, complex, and sensitive issues of our time. Jade is also the Creative Director at NDN Collective, an Indigenous led organization that builds indigenous power through decolonizing the world of philanthropy and creates direct funding opportunities for Indigenous and Native communities. He is a correspondent for Real America with Jorge Ramos and contributing editor for Canadian Geographic. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Nation, The Paris Review and many other publications. Together, we are re-energized by the call for accountability within the environmental movement and invite you to reflect on your own habitual patterns of engagement and consumption. May this episode move you to not only listen, advocate, and stand alongside Indigenous and frontline communities, but also directly resource those at the forefront of climate chaos fighting for a just and livable world. ♫ Music by Sea Stars, Katie Gray, and The Ancient Wild
SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter
It was somewhere in the space between the Gstaad Major and the Espinho four-star when the façade came crashing down. How long had it been since Sarah Sponcil had decompressed? Relaxed? Reflected on all that had happened in her life in the past six blurs of months? In that span, she and Lily Justine, her partner at UCLA, established themselves as the best No. 2 NCAA beach pair in the country. In May, the Bruins repeated as NCAA champions. Days later, Sponcil was on a flight with Kelly Claes, her professional partner, to Itapema, Brazil, for an FIVB four-star where they’d play Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat in a country quota. They lost in 28 minutes. “It’s such a surreal fast-paced experience, national championship to pro in three days, trying to adjust my game to match the opponents, the best in the world,” Sponcil said when she and Claes joined us on SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter. “I’m just speechless when I’m asked that question. You’re never ready. You never know what you’re really doing and if I didn’t (go for the Olympics), I’d regret it for the rest of my life.” On the outside, though, it very much appears as Sponcil is ready for all of this, as if she has keeping up with her rapidly-changing world, no problem. She and Claes rebounded from Itapema with four straight top-10 finishes, including a ninth at the FIVB World Championships. They didn't just look like they knew what they were doing. They made it look -- dare we say? -- easy. On top of all of that, in Warsaw the week before, while the rest of Sponcil’s teammates and classmates at UCLA were walking across the stage back home, Sponcil and Claes put on a comical photo shoot of Sponcil “graduating,” cap and gown included, diving for a ball on the sand. It can all look so glamorous sometimes -- the world traveling, the funny Instagrams, the hilarious videos of them running through airports and Sponcil walking around the world doing handstands -- that it’s easy to forget that she’s never done any of this before. “Sometimes I can’t even wrap my head around how stressful this year has been for her,” Claes said. “I think back to my first season coming out of college. We finished the USA Pairs Championship and jumped on a flight to Rio. We jumped on the world tour and it was so stressful and we had so many new things coming at me and I felt like my head was spinning and on top of that it’s an Olympic qualifying year for her.” And then, after dropping in the qualifier in Gstaad, now two months on the road with stops in Portugal, Tokyo, Vienna, and Moscow still looming, Sponcil let down her guard. “Sarah sent me a text to come outside and she’s balling,” Claes said. “And I’m like ‘OK, we’re doing this.’” They’re a fun-loving duo, Claes and Sponcil. They’re goofy and happy and wildly talented, two of the top players in the country despite being in diapers when Kerri Walsh Jennings, who they’re trying to beat out for the 2020 Olympics, was making her Olympic debut on the beach. But they are -- in spite of how magnificently tailored their lives may look at times -- human. Three months on the road is a monumental task for a human being, much less one who had never done any of this before. Full-time World Tour, Olympic race, figuring out flights and hotels and meals and how in the world to survive this thing. “Honestly, I felt like I had nothing together,” Sponcil said. “I was missing home, I felt like I was trying to change so many different things in my game, and you can’t change a whole lot and still feel like you’re playing free. Everything was just crazy in my mind, and definitely had some teary moments, and I was just honest with Kelly and open and vulnerable and I was like ‘I am not OK right now.’ “To get closer you have to be vulnerable in those positions and it sucks to acknowledge that you don’t have it all together, especially coming off of college where you had everything. You did so well and now you’re being pushed in ways you didn’t think you could be pushed because you won a month ago, on cloud nine, and now it’s ‘Oh, shiz.’ “But Kelly had been in the same position and her listening to me means everything. It was a step in the right direction to know if we win, we lose, whatever, we’re still in this together, and that’s really powerful. That was a huge moment for us.” Claes may be the perfect partner for Sponcil, old enough to have done this for three years now, young enough to still be able to fully empathize with where Sponcil is in life. Perhaps that explains why, once considered underdogs by many in this race, these two are eighth in the world in the Olympic ranks and third in the U.S. They trail only April Ross and Alix Klineman and Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat, with another 12 or so events -- depending on what they want to play -- left in the qualification period. Theirs is a chemistry wholly unique to them. Last October, Claes was still unsure with whom she was going to partner for this run. She and Walsh Jennings played a few events, and when Walsh Jennings turned to Sweat, Sponcil turned out to be an easy decision. “Chemistry is huge for me. So that’s why when Sarah and I initially started talking I was leaning towards her,” she said. “Once we started talking and hanging out and training together, I was like ‘Shoot, we line up on so many things.’ I get that a lot of people see a partnership as more of a business but I think it’s important to have that chemistry. There’s so much time off the court.” On flights, they write rap songs together, which they debuted, hilariously, terribly, on SANDCAST. How much fun they can have off the court allows them to play free and creative on it, allowing them to stretch their full skillsets without fear of making mistakes. “We had a flight from Czech to LA, and literally the entire flight we wrote songs,” Sponcil said. “The lady was like ‘Do you want something?’ and we were like ‘No! We’re working on something!’” Indeed they are. They’re working on an Olympic run. A full album of songs. How to get from one place to the next, be it in the air or on the ground. They’re figuring this thing out, Claes and Sponcil, and the first step to doing so is acknowledging that they have absolutely nothing figured out. “You’re trying to force yourself to figure it out, whether it’s transportation or strategy in a game. It’s so different than in college and I think when you accept that you’re never going to have it all figured out and just accept it -- moral of the story, we don’t have it figured out,” Sponcil said. “So don’t try to figure it out. Delayed flights, canceled flights -- just smile and wave. We’ll somehow find our way to the next destination, we just don’t know how yet.”
Host Gregory Iron sits down with the toughest son of a bitch in WWE history, the one and only "Stone Cold" Steve Austin! Last October, Greg sat down with Steve at 317 Gimmick Street to record a couple episodes of "The Steve Austin Show." The "Wrestle Days" documentary crew was following Greg that morning to capture the unique friendship between "The Handicapped Hero" and "The Texas Rattlesnake." While a lot of great banter made it to the "Wrestle Days" doc (available on YouTube), there was a lot of footage left on the cutting room floor. On this episode, you'll hear an exclusive conversation between Iron and Austin -- with content you've never heard from "The Bionic Redneck.". Steve chats with Greg about his 1997 neck injury and the inevitable surgery that he had in the winter of 1999. Austin tells us how he convinced doctors to clear him to get back in the ring in 1997, when he knew he couldn't put off his neck surgery any longer, what he did during his time off in 1999, how he told Vince he wasn't coming back in 2000, his near death experience while blowing up the DX Express, his final run with The Rock in 2003, the emotional experience of having One More Round at WrestleMania XIX, and more. Before the interview, Greg and co-host Aaron Bauer discuss their first, best and worst pro wrestler interactions. Aaron tells a story about answering the challenge of former WWF Champion Iron Sheik, Greg tells us what ECW wrestler stole $10 from him, and Aaron and Greg discuss "Stone Cold" impersonator "Even Colder" Mike Austin. - - - Gregory Iron wrestles with cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that affects the mobility of his right arm, hand and fingers. Trained by WWE NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano in 2006, Iron has conquered his disability and gone on to work with some of the top names in wrestling including "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, CM Punk, The Dudley Boyz, Tomasso Ciampa and many others. Last October, Blair Crimmins & the Hookers teamed up with The Bert Show co-host Davi Crimmins to host a month-long residency at Paris on Ponce. Crimmins stopped by CL’s Short Notice studio to talk with host Chad Radford about his residency, children's music project, Captain Crimmins and the Story Boat Band, and the origin story behind his ragtime jazz band and stage persona. Meet Zan Asha, an artist who is blending fairytales, nature, folklore, and Halloween into her art. Zan is friendly, fun, and has one of the most interesting family and career stories I’ve ever heard. Zan has done time in corporate life, been a vet tech, directed a dance troupe, written, traveled, illustrated, and kept bees. Zan’s family is a blend of Hungarian (Slavic), Romany, and Middle Eastern roots. Her childhood was full of fairytales and folk songs from her parents. In addition to fairytales, Zan loves mythology, ancient knowledge, secrets, Alice In Wonderland, Halloween, and forest animals. Zan grew up in New York City and moved to Florida when she was a teenager. She returned to NYC to study film and theater at NYU. After school, she spent a decade running a dance and theater troupe. After the 2008 recession, Zan moved from dance to bee-keeping as part of an initiative of bringing bees back to the Bronx. Zan moved back to Florida to care for her parents. A car accident damaged her back. As an active person, Zan felt miserable and lost. A lover of learning, Zan started to investigate different art mediums. An interest in working in 3D lead her to functional ceramics. A kind pottery shop owner taught her how to make hand-built pottery. Her friend Carolee Clark validated her pottery was on the right path. She will be participating in the Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween art show this year. Last October, Zan’s home was damaged during Hurricane Michael. It is still under reconstruction. The garage with her kiln has no lights yet, so when she works at night, she needs a flashlight. Her studio is crammed into her bedroom. Many of her art supplies are still in storage. To wrap up the show, Zan shared with us a Hungarian hedgehog fairytale. She encourages us to make life as colorful as possible and to take risks. Check her out at https://www.themagicalvagabond.com/. She is on Facebook and Instagram as “themagicalvagabond”. Called the ADAC e-Rally Cup, the series replaces the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup collaboration that helped introduce fresh talent to rallying." reports evo.co.uk: "The Corsa-e Rally car itself shares an identical powertrain to that of the road-going hatchback, featuring a 136bhp synchronous electric motor mounted where the traditional internal combustion engine would normally sit under the front bonnet. The 50kWh battery pack is also carried over, which should help the e-Corsa complete more than a couple of special stages without needing a top-up." https://www.evo.co.uk/vauxhall/corsa/201649/new-vauxhall-corsa-e-to-race-in-e-rally-cup FIRST LEXUS EV COULD BE A HATCH, CONCEPT BOUND FOR 2019 TOKYO MOTOR SHOW Toyota is committed to launching at least 10 battery-electric cars by 2025, with the first expected to arrive in 2020. Some of these will come from Toyota's upmarket brand, Lexus, which may give us a preview of what's to come during October's Tokyo Motor Show. Citing comments made by Koji Sato, Lexus' chief engineer, Autocar reported Thursday that Lexus will present an EV concept at its home show that may just preview an upcoming production model." reports Motor Authority: "It's possible the concept will be an evolution of 2015's LF-SA minicar concept, a vehicle that fits the description above. And though the LF-SA concept hasn't been confirmed for production, Lexus is rumored to be looking at adding a model smaller than the UX subcompact SUV." https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1124681_first-lexus-ev-could-be-a-hatch-concept-bound-for-2019-tokyo-motor-show 2020 CHEVROLET BOLT EV GETS MORE RANGE "The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV is now rated with a 259 miles (417 km) EPA range and surpasses its most direct alternatives. The alternative that almost matches its range is the 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric with 258 miles range, which is just 1 mile less." says Pedro for PushEVs: "The 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV and previous model years had an EPA range of 238 miles (367 km), so this latest upgrade in battery capacity represents a 9 percent range increase.the Chevrolet Bolt EV still doesn’t have ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control). This electric car and the new Renault ZOE are probably the only mass production electric cars with decent range that still don’t have this important safety feature for less stressful driving." https://pushevs.com/2019/08/22/2020-chevrolet-bolt-ev-gets-more-range/ SINGAPORE FORGOES TESLA'S ELECTRIC 'LIFESTYLE' FOR BUSES "Singapore is in no rush to adopt a certain brand of electric car. In an interview with Bloomberg published today, a government minister offered a rebuttal to Tesla founder Elon Musk's criticism that the city-state is "unwelcome" to electric cars. Investing in mass transit -- rather than Tesla Superchargers -- is how the nation of slightly less than 6 million inhabitants wants to tackle climate change" writes Engadget today. Singapore has embraced electric public buses and is working on developing a system of self-driving, electric taxis. It certainly hasn't ruled out electric cars completely. Last October, British company Dyson Ltd announced that Singapore would be the manufacturing base for its first electric car." https://www.engadget.com/2019/08/22/singapore-forgoes-teslas-electric-lifestyle-for-buses/ STUDY LINKS SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE TO PM POLLUTION TO RISK OF PREMATURE DEATH "A major new international study shows independent associations between short-term exposure to PM10 and PM2.5 and daily all-cause, cardiovascular, and respiratory mortality in more than 600 cities across the globe." says Green Car Congress: "The study, led by Dr. Haidong Kan from Fudan University in China, analyzed data on air pollution and mortality in 652 cities across 24 countries and regions, and found increases in total deaths are linked to exposure to inhalable particles (PM10) and fine particles (PM2.5)" An article from the Telegraph in 2015 talked about the history of PM being in the news: "Particulates – tiny sooty particles in the air – were the first of the pollutants to be identified as toxic, 22 years ago, in a big Harvard study. The seminal 1993 research, dubbed “the six cities study” compared mortality rates in half a dozen representative US urban areas, following the fates of 8,111 adults for at least 14 years." https://www.greencarcongress.com/2019/08/20190822-nejm.html https://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufacturers/volkswagen/11899676/The-statistics-about-diesel-are-crystal-clear.-Its-deadly.html AUDI E-TRON NAVIGATION SYSTEM PROVIDES DETAILED PETROL INFORMATION "The e-tron’s navigation system was recently observed to have a very interesting, and notably humorous feature: it gives drivers useful information about nearby petrol stations and current gas prices." says Simon at Teslarati: "As noted by drivers who shared images of the e-tron’s navigation in action, the all-electric SUV’s infotainment screen displays information about petrol stations on a selected route. The information is quite detailed too, as it includes the current price of petrol in selected locations." https://www.teslarati.com/audi-e-tron-navigation-gas-stations-diesel-prices/ COMMUNITY The MYEV.com Question Of The Week. Submitted by Brian C: "Petrol users pay by quantity. EV drivers should ALSO pay by quantity. All charging companies be required by law to charge per kWh – do you agree?" Last October, at the Annual Meeting of the International Bar Association in Rome, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Katherine Meighan, the General Counsel of IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Katherine gave an eye-opening presentation at the IBA conference on IFAD’s efforts to address the issue of food security and world hunger, and I knew I had to have her on the podcast to share her message and to dig deeper into her work as General Counsel and IFAD’s incredible work in general. Katherine’s unique background has served her well in preparing for the role of IFAD General Counsel. Before joining IFAD, Katherine was Assistant General Counsel and Manager at the International Finance Corporation, where Katherine led the legal work globally for Financial Institutions, Treasury, and restructuring/litigation. During her 17 years at IFC, Katherine was based in Buenos Aires, Istanbul, and Washington, D.C. Previously, Katherine worked at a global law firm in Washington, D.C. and Paris focusing on international transactions and capital markets work for financial institutions. Katherine has a law degree from the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree from William & Mary, where she is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Center. In our conversation, Katherine tells us more about IFAD, the entities with which it works, and how it operates. Katherine explains why the organization focuses on supporting agricultural development of the “rural poor” and the “missing middle.” I had Katherine walk me through the Sustainable Development Goals set-out by the United Nations and how IFAD has developed innovative funding mechanisms to leverage private funds and create partnerships to make progress on increasing food security worldwide. We also touched upon the important social issues affecting global agriculture, including climate change and mass migration, as well as the tremendous gap between the number of women worldwide who are involved in food production and the number of women who actually own and manage land. As you will hear, Katherine is passionate about her work, and I really enjoyed getting to learn more about her and IFAD’s inspiring and important mission to eradicate hunger for the world’s most underserved rural poor. Bergeson & Campbell’s interest in food security is rooted in our deep engagement in the law and science of precision agriculture and fertilizers, and we are really excited to share with you IFAD’s important work on food security. So, here is my discussion with Katherine Meighan, General Counsel of the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Last October we had the privilege of attending Siglerfest in Las Vegas. This episode is a recap of the 10 days spent in America
Last October, the world’s top climate scientists, under a United Nations panel, warned about little time left before the earth warms to a 1.5°C threshold. With just 11 years left, urgent changes are needed to cut risk of extreme heat, drought, floods and poverty. In response to all of this, there have been calls to declare a climate emergency. We find out more about what this means on today’s show.

This month I had the opportunity to finally get to talk to my homeboy El Profé Mau Magaña. He is a Professor at the University of Arizona. Last October he gave an amazing lecture at The Fox Theatre in Tucson called “Hip-Hop Culture & it’s visual impact in Mexico”. It’s currently on YouTube & I highly recommend watching the entire video. He had a lot of great things to say & he’s coming out with a book very soon. He is an amazing human & I appreciate him blessing the show.
Last October, Governor Murphy laid out his Economic Plan for building a stronger, fairer New Jersey economy. In this episode of ECONversations, NJEDA Chief Executive Officer Tim Sullivan joins host Tai Cooper for a conversation about the Plan and the NJEDA’s expanded role as a comprehensive economic development agency. Read Governor Murphy’s full Economic Plan here: https://www.njeda.com/pdfs/StrongerAndFairerNewJerseyEconomyReport.aspx
Last October at the annual EDA Move leadership conference, Deb Hinkel, director of spiritual formation for Hershey Free church, gave a really important keynote talk about what it looks like to have men and women truly partner together in ministry, where there is mutual value and acceptance. Whether you got to hear her talk live or are hearing it for the first time, we think this is a really important conversation to have and to continue having.
Last October, reporters Michael Majchrowicz and Mary Katherine Wildeman published ‘Taught hate to myself,’ revealing how South Carolina is home to one of the nation’s most expansive networks of ex-gay ministries and counseling practices. Gay conversion therapy – which aims to suppress or eradicate a person’s LGBTQ identity – has been condemned by most major medical groups. Fourteen states have barred professionals from offering it. Majcrowicz and Wildeman identified 22 ministries, churches and practitioners across the Southeast, with at least nine operating in South Carolina. In this week’s episode, we catch up with Majchrowicz to get the background on just how these groups continue to operate here, what it was like to report this story and what the reaction has been to the project.
Last October, I shared an interview I did with Pastor Ken Gray who shares his journey through dealing with depression. Church leaders don't want to admit that they struggle with this issue - sometimes often. Ken's raw honesty will encourage and strengthen you in your quest to serve God's people.
Hi! This is Lexie of Read by AI. I read human-curated content for you to listen during work, exercise, your commute, or any other time. In June last year, feisty politician Bantu Holomisa launched a raft of sensational allegations against a trio of leading businessmen which were immediately lapped up by the media. As a result, Holomisa finds himself on the wrong end of a libel suit. But the UDM political party president’s colourful language and skilful media management has had an upside. Last October, a Commission of Inquiry was established to look into his allegations of impropriety at the R2 trillion Public Investment Corporation, or the PIC. And in hearings since January the commission has exposed two unexpected warts: the dictatorial management style of the PIC’s now suspended chief executive Dr Dan Matjila; and likely fraud around the PIC’s R4.3bn investment in Ayo, a wanna-be African tech giant promoted on vapourware. The great paradox, however, is the supposedly pillaging businessmen described by Holomisa as “hyenas” are coming through the interrogation as honest agents. Indeed, testimony heard by Judge Lex Mpati and his commissioners Gill Marcus and Chief Lediga reveals their businesses have actually generated billions in profit for State pensioners. For those in the know, this is no surprise. That includes anyone who heard my interview with the central character, Harith’s founder Tshepo Mahloele. I was looking for the other side to an incredulous story shortly after Holomisa’s allegations were publicised. At the PIC Commission these past two weeks, Holomisa fared poorly under cross questioning. But those he targeted - Mahloele, his chairman Jabu Moloketi and business partner Warren Wheatley - appeared voluntarily and delivered a consistent and believable version of events. Last weekend, I caught up with Mahloele at the National Portrait Gallery in London…
