Kermode on Film supports the British Film Designers Guild Awards – and shines a spotlight on the BFDG Planet Positive Award sponsored by Sky Studios Elstree. In this episode Mark Kermode talks to the winner of that award, Freya Bruce, co-founder of ReCollective, about their work on 'My Lady Jayne'. ReCollective are a non-for-profit, setting new standards of re-use for the film industry to tackle the enormous amount of waste it produces. ReCollective's work on 'My Lady Jane' involved repurposing building materials which were then used for community builds in the South West of England including making poly tunnels for a market garden and a field shelter for a community farm.Find out more about ReCollective: https://www.recollective.uk/Hosted by: Mark KermodeWith: Freya Bruce of ReCollective and Peter Okell, Operations Manager at Sky Studios ElstreeExecutive Producer: Lornie Archbold at HLA AgencyAudio Producer: Alex JonesMusic: The Dodge BrothersThis audio programme is an HLA Agency production for the British Film Designers Guildhedda@hlaagency.co.uk(c) HLA AgencyWIP is a BFDG Podcast.Connect with us:Instagram: @british_film_designers_guildX: @BFDG_Film_GuildLinkedin: @british-film-designers-guildFacebook: /British Film Designers GuildWebsite:www.britishfilmdesigners.comAbout the BFDGThe Society of British Film Directors and Designers was founded in 1946. In Episode #200 of The XS Noize Podcast, host Mark Millar interviews acclaimed Northern Irish singer-songwriter Ciaran Lavery about his stunning new album Light Entertainment. Light Entertainment, Lavery's fifth studio album and first since 2020's acclaimed Plz Stay, bb, is his most multi-layered work yet. It features his trademark wit and invites listeners into a strange, intense world. Shaun Doogan and Ciarán McCann at Re-Act Productions have also adapted the album into a striking short film. The film follows Lavery through surreal, film noir-inspired scenarios, even featuring Daniel O'Donnell as a phantasmagorical version of himself. It mirrors the album's theme of feeling overwhelmed by a constant stream of information, news, and social media. In this episode, Ciaran discusses the inspiration behind the album, working with Daniel O'Donnell, how he nearly became a rapper and much more. In smoky halls where shadows dance, There strides a man with flair and stance. With saxophone in hand, he's seen, Shane Ritchie, the jazz machine. His fingers glide on keys so fine, A melody born from his mind's design. Each note he plays, a tale untold, In his jazz world, he's bold and bold. His voice, a velvet, smooth and low, Sings of love lost and nights aglow. The rhythm flows through every chord, In Shane Ritchie, jazz is adored. In every riff, a story's spun, Of midnight dreams beneath the sun. With passion deep and soul so pure, Shane Ritchie's jazz will endure.

In this special edition of the Accounting Influencers Podcast, hosted by Martin Bissett, featuring Gordon King from The World of Twist, the conversation delves into the intersection of creativity and accounting in the music industry. Gordon King shares insights into the rise and fall of The World of Twist, a band he co-founded, shedding light on the financial dynamics within the group. As creative professionals navigating the music scene, the band members initially had little business acumen and entrusted their manager with handling finances. Gordon reflects on the naivety and excitement that often accompany young musicians signing major record deals, highlighting the importance of understanding contracts and financial arrangements in the music business. The discussion provides a fascinating glimpse into the challenges faced by creative individuals when dealing with the business side of their careers.YoutubeYou can watch this episode and more on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@accountinginfluencers Guest BioWorld of Twist was an English indie pop band formed in Sheffield in 1985, experienced various lineup changes throughout history. The band's original lineup featured James Fry (vocals), Andrew Hobson (bass guitar), Gordon King (guitar), Tony Ogden (drums), Rory Conolly (saxophone), Nick Phillips (organ), and Andy Robbins (synthesizer). After disbanding, a new lineup emerged in Manchester in 1986.While the band gained attention for their live shows and radio sessions, their debut album, "Quality Street" (1991), didn't receive significant critical or commercial success. Despite not touring North America, "Sons of the Stage" succeeded in Toronto and New York. Creative differences and Ogden's decision to stop singing contributed to the band's dissolution in 1992.QUATERMASS III is the pilot recording of this exciting project that came from the minds behind World of Twist, Earl Brutus, and The Dials. Presented by The Ministry of Light Entertainment in collaboration with the British Experimental Rocket Group and Science Monthly, QUATERMASS III promises to be a unique and groundbreaking musical endeavour.◣━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◢If you like the show, we'd appreciate a review on whatever platform you listen to. DescriptionEine kleine Nachtmusik or “A Little Night Music” aka Serenade No. 13 in G Major, K 525, is admired for its lively, joyful quality and memorable melodies. Take a minute to get the scoop!Fun FactThe four-movement work opens with a bright allegro in sonata form, and a slow, lyrical second movement follows. The third movement is a light minuet, and the finale is a brisk rondo. Originally, the piece contained a second minuet, but that movement has been lost. The specific occasion, if any, for which Eine kleine Nachtmusik was composed has never been determined.About Steven, HostSteven is a Canadian composer & actor living in Toronto. Happy fathers day you fornicators! If you have kids that is. If you don't, maybe you got a sexy little thang wearing a diaper and sleeping in a crate. Either way, we love and respect you.
DONT MOVE! Whats that in the distance?! Is that a charging angry animal of some kind? What do you do? Bet you dont know...bet you fucking die. Thats why we're here. Today Matt quizzes the team on their animal instincts.
TWO SOLVERS ENTER......ONE SOLVER LEAVES!!! It's a head to head debate between Matt and Lizz on the hot button issues facing our world. Who will be victorious!? Open your dumb ears to find out
In a fear that we didnt come with it last week, we decided to hit the internet up again, but this time we did it die hard with a vengeance. We dig into the minds of the solvers with deep meaningful convo, and fart jokes.
This week we head out into the untested waters of the internet to address real world problems and concerns. But we dont find anything good so we just kinda shoot the shit
Heres another episode where I can honestly say I have no idea what happened here. We went in blind and came out dirty. We talk about sex and gross stuff. Lets label this one nc17
Sixty god damned nine episodes baby. This what its all been for. Now we're retiring on top.....or bottom....depends on the lay out
Oh shit! We're getting real weird today. Nice Chris joins us on Matt and Daves bday to ask some insanely awkward 'Would you rather..' questions. Here's one, would you rather listen to this episode or make a second holocaust? Thats what I thought! Now listen to this episode or just be a nazi for the rest of your life.
I know we've been giving you guys a lot of grief about not writing in, but truth be told, you're doing great. We're just lazy and haven't been addressing them in a timely fashion. So today we get all up in yo biznass, and fix all of your shitty problems, just like old times!
Hey NY...weeds legal. You thats cool?! You wanna waste your life getting stoned...getting blazed...getting turnt? Well dont! Matt and Lizz did and this episode sucks because of it. We said some really funny stuff, by they were too high and forgot to hit record
Nothing new, the internet has issues, and we're the people to fix things. The team takes on the reddit, but makes it sexy. Listen to it so I dont have to type about it.
So this week doesn't count as a real episode. We had to record remotely becuase Zak got Covis-19 and ruined everything. Too sick and tired to come up with a funny episode, so we talk about star wars.
We have a special guest! The crew talks covid vaccine, and oddly enough, Zak get Covid 19 just days after recording. The government is trying to silence us!!!
Oh man, this week!? Am I right!? We gotta talk about sexiest ass kids toys and racists ass children authors. Because this is the world we live in. It could be worse though. Luckily, it can always be worse, which means we'll always have something to talk about!
Man...what a week! Life has been mega man busy, so this episode is mostly us bitching about life. Did you want something funnier? Too bad! Go to Joe Rogan for that shit. We're more than just performing monkeys, we're people too
