Halley and Jaz are back from Miami and very much in need of a reset. In this episode of Delusional Diaries, they recap their chaotic trip filled with blackout martinis, accidental oysters, and one too many dinners (literally). Jaz open ups about her truly chaotic miami night—so chaotic, in fact, that the debrief is actually a rollercoaster & missing some parts, because well, she did in fact BLACK OUT. the girls dive into the group dynamics of the trip, the surprising joys of meeting online mutuals IRL, and the dangerous game of airport roulette via Newark and Miami International.they also get real about the pressure of online personas versus real-life energy, awkward post-lunch pregnancy assumptions, and pre-wedding tea in a way only they can—raw, hilarious, and just a little unhinged. Jaz shares the moment her shoe guy thought she was pregnant, Halley talks overpriced fitness classes, and they discuss why Miami is both their least favorite and somehow still fun city.it's a kinda insane catch-up filled with overshares, giggles, and a strong PSA: be very careful with martinis and Miami. We took a look at whether Miami International and Florida-Hollywood International Airports have fixed their nagging problems in time for the spring break wave (19:08). And we examined whether throwing more sand at the problem is really the way to save our beaches (35:29).

As we prepare for 2023's event (April 14th-16 at the James L. Knight Center / Hyatt Regency Miami) we look back at a fascinating entry from 2022; Apotheosis. Troy sat down with the creators, director Max Pearce along with fellow co-writer and producer Maria Sara Santoro, to discuss their short film. SYNOPSYS: Selene, a young aerospace engineer, dreams of going to space, but was born naturally in this near-future society where the first generation of genetically engineered humans has come of age and has more privileges than those born like Selene. When her mother loses her job, Selene decides to compete against these genetically engineered humans in order to secure a job position on the first habitable space colony, Rusk Venture's Ourania. However, she'll be competing against her friend Fabrizio, Rusk's engineered son. Their friendship is pushed to the limit as their willpower and determination are put to the test.
Bill Spohrer died December 16 in Sarasota, Florida at age 91. Air Cargo lost a giant that quietly walked among us and made one hell of a difference in air cargo, changing the face of Miami Airport completely by innovating that airport some decades ago, into the pole position of global leadership in perishables. It was Bill that changed "Corrosion Corner" in the air cargo area at Miami International into a huge refrigerator masquerading as an air cargo facility that eventually became a cornerstone of UPS operations at that gateway. Bill was the driver in the creation of The International Air Cargo Association where he served as that organization's first President. He also was instrumental in the founding of Air Cargo Americas. Both are forces for good in organized air cargo today. In the here today, gone tomorrow world of air cargo, Bill was for all seasons, and now he should be remembered as among the greatest air cargo builders of the 20th Century. Here is Bill's story, written in 1993 by the greatest aviation historian R.E.G. Davies, when Ron was Curator of Air Transport at The National Air Museum in Washington, D.C. Ron died in 2011, after many decades at NASM, having authored 30 books, including more than a dozen detailed histories of the leading airlines of the world and the Berlin Airlift. When the 2022 version of Air Cargo Americas/Supply Chain Americas Show launches this week on Tuesday March 8 after having suffering its 2021 version postponed because of COVID, the event venue will look pretty much the same as always. Maybe after all the uproar of the past two years that continues, 105 booths and 1,500 people signed up with many walk-ins always a factor at this event can be looked upon as some kind of miracle. For those of us who operate whilst in Miami on coladas and pastries from Vito's on Curtiss Parkway, the return to this place with its vibrance is always a happy one. It's about the people there and that this is the only true airport cargo show in the world sponsored by an airport, Miami International. No other airport in the world has a biennial cargo event of this size and dimension that has lasted as long, nor greeted more members of the air cargo industry --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geoffrey-arend/support

Many top tech executives will see more take-home pay, and some contractors will as well. Tech giants will see major tax cuts and will be able to bring back money earned overseas at a lower tax rate than they had been able to previously. Blue collar workers in the Valley, such as security workers, will see some tax benefits but nowhere near as substantial as those of higher paid workers. DHS conducting unauthorized face scans at U.S. airports In a new report, the Georgetown University Center on Privacy and Technology found that the Department of Homeland Security is scanning the faces of American citizens traveling internationally and comparing it to a national database. The report found that this program affects as many as 1 in 25 international travelers. Homeland is implementing the face scanning program at eight airports in Boston Logan, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Las Vegas McCarran, Miami International, Hobby International in Houston, New York's JFK, and Washington Dulles. Although it has approved the use of biometrics for screening foreign nationals who are entering the country, Congress has not yet authorized the practice of face-scanning American citizens who are exiting. Harrison Rudolph, Laura Moy, and Alvaro Bedoya authored the report, which you can find at airportfacescans.com.
