By highlighting cost savings, clients can see how efficient water treatment impacts their bottom line. Sustainability isn't just a trendy term—it's about implementing practical practices that protect our planet for current and future generations. By adopting sustainable strategies, we can conserve resources, cut costs, and create lasting benefits for both the environment and our client's businesses. In our latest episode of the Scaling UP! H2O Podcast, we had the privilege of speaking with James Courtney, CWT, LEED AP of CSC Technologies an advocate for water sustainability, who shared actionable insights on how water professionals can effectively embrace sustainability while adding value to their clients. Meet James Courtney: A Champion for Sustainability In our enlightening conversation, James shared his journey in the water industry and emphasized the vital role that water professionals play in promoting sustainability. He stated, "We help our customers by saving them money on water, electricity, and fuel." This highlights how our work not only benefits the environment but also leads to significant financial savings for our clients. Sustainability: More Than Just a Buzzword Sustainability means optimizing our resources. As James noted, "We operate in this space where we are directly responsible for the sustainability of our customers.” Water treaters have a unique opportunity to minimize their clients' carbon footprints while improving efficiency. Whether it's running boilers without scale, optimizing cooling towers, or maximizing cycles of conductivity, every action contributes to a greener future. James also cautioned against greenwashing, reminding us that not all practices labeled as "green" deliver real benefits. We must be vigilant and ensure that our sustainability efforts  Educating and Empowering Clients Understanding water and energy usage is essential for effective water management. James encourages water professionals to educate their clients about their consumption patterns. “Clients often don't realize that overusing chemicals or wasting water is a problem,” he explained. By illustrating the cost savings—like reducing their electricity bills or fuel costs—clients can connect the dots between efficient water treatment and their bottom line. Harnessing Data One of James's most compelling stories was about using smart meters to identify inefficiencies. He shared, “Meters give you information; information gives you the opportunity to find solutions to problems you didn't even know you had.” In one instance, a client's building was using half a million gallons of water due to a blocked condensate receiver. The installation of a meter enabled the team to identify the issue and prevent unnecessary water loss, ultimately leading to significant cost savings for the client. James's team also tackled a fascinating case with two identical LEED Platinum buildings. Even though they were built exactly the same, one consumed significantly more power. By analyzing minute-by-minute energy data, they pinpointed the problem, leading to solutions that not only enhanced efficiency but also inspired other buildings in the community to adopt similar practices. The Impact of Visibility James highlighted an intriguing study involving a housing development where identical homes were built. In half of these homes, energy meters were placed indoors, allowing residents to see their energy usage, while the other half had meters located outdoors. The results were striking: “The houses with visible indoor meters used less energy simply because people could see it,” James explained. Residents began to turn energy monitoring into a game, challenging themselves to reduce their consumption. This simple shift towards visibility in daily energy use not only heightened awareness among residents but also nurtured a culture of energy-saving habits. As James aptly put it, “What gets measured gets managed.” Engaging clients in enjoyable and measurable ways can significantly drive sustainability efforts. Final Thoughts James's insights remind us of the significant role water professionals play in fostering a sustainable future. By leveraging data and educating our clients, we can create meaningful change that benefits both our communities and the environment. Together, let's continue to explore the importance of sustainability practices that protect our generation and the ones to come. Thank you for being part of the Scaling UP! H2O community. Together, let's continue to educate ourselves and each other on the importance of sustainability practices that benefit both our generation and those to come. There are a few trains of thought on control ranges. Which tests and readings really need a control range applied to them? How wide or narrow should the control range be? It's something one should consider carefully. I have seen control ranges applied to every test parameter for a makeup, such as city water, that the user had absolutely no control over. Are these control ranges really necessary? Sometimes, they are, especially if the makeup source is susceptible to changes in water quality, such as total hardness, which can impact downstream softener performance. I've also seen control ranges so large a bus could slide through them sideways. What good is such a wide control range doing for the water system? Nothing was actually being controlled. I've seen control ranges that were so unreasonably narrow that the parameters were almost ALWAYS out of range as well. What good does that serve? Is a better control system needed to meet these narrow ranges or is a wider control range more fitting instead? A lot of you out there use field service report programs that turn red, green, and sometimes yellow when a parameter is outside the control range. Not having good and proper control ranges can make that field service report's color coding nearly useless because it is always too red or even too green and not actually reflecting the true stressed or controlled state of the system. Control ranges that are too tight may yield field service reports that are red all the time, which will lead to either the end user ignoring the colors or being annoyed by the report always looking red. Control ranges that are too broad may not show the true state of stress the system is under and lead to more problems down the road. Lastly, I've even seen reps be pressured by their customers to avoid red color coding as much as possible, leading to either uselessly wide control ranges or no control ranges at all. This can be a touchy subject, but your control ranges must be meaningful and useful. It may take some finesse to get everyone on the same side of the table on this but seeing a little red when appropriate TODAY beats dealing with the impact of a failed water system and wasted energy and water TOMORROW. Welcome back to a special re-airing of the most popular episode from 2022 on Scaling UP! H2O - the Pinks and Blues series titled "Cooling Towers, Part 1." I'm your host, Trace Blackmore, CWT, and we're taking a deep dive into the world of Cooling Towers. For our newer listeners, Pinks and Blues episodes are our team's favorite way of answering our listener's burning questions, and this time, we're tackling a question that's crucial to anyone involved in water treatment: "What are the dos and don'ts of cleaning a Cooling Tower?" But before we can uncover those important dos and don'ts, we need to truly understand what a Cooling Tower is and why its maintenance is so vital. Cooling Towers are the unsung heroes working behind the scenes, responsible for the efficient exchange of heat in various industrial processes. This episode marks the beginning of a favored two-part series where we explore the ins and outs of Cooling Towers. So fasten your seatbelts, because we're about to embark on a knowledge-packed journey that will transform the way you think about these vital components of heat exchange. Why should you care about keeping your Cooling Towers in top shape? Well, I'll tell you why proactive maintenance matters and how neglecting these systems can lead to decreased efficiency, higher energy costs, and even safety concerns. As I always say, a Cooling Tower that's not operating at its best is a missed opportunity for optimal heat transfer. Throughout this episode, we'll be unraveling the intricacies of Cooling Tower performance and the fine balance between chemical treatments and mechanical processes. Remember, it's all about achieving that perfect "quadrinity" for the best results. In what turns out to be a pretty bleak deep dive into the most recent match, a lost wager to the Not Easy Being Green podcast guys somehow saves the episode with the help of a catchy late '80s Scottish rock band hit. Because we're just that good. Yikes. With that in mind, episode 72 begins with Matt and Travis breaking their long-held tradition of taking 24 hours before commenting on a match to instead let their raw emotions pour over in what is no doubt one of their most negative episodes to date. Which is saying something! In Part One, the fellas give shout outs to OFC members, Twitter, and especially the podcast platform Anchor for not allowing live streaming (thank goodness). But along the way, they set the stage for some ... Scottish rock band trivia! In Part Two, the disappointing loss to Bremen is covered, including topics such as the home support, the lineup change, Dino's mistake(s), and substitutes like good 'ol Chestnut Macaw! Huh? In Part Three, it's News and Headlines time, and the guys get into a heated - and one way - debate with two Stuttgart reporters from SVW who are way more qualified than they'll ever be over the issue of the roster's "quality." In an effort to make the debate as unfair as possible, Travis sets it up in such a way that there's almost no way that he and Matt can lose the debate. ALMOST! Before all is said and done, both go on a rant about the club, Bruno, rumor's regarding 'Rino, and the now infamous banner. Part Four consists of Question and Answer time, as some great questions are asked about who replaces Sehrou up front, what's Anton doing as RB, and whether VfB is going to survive February, let alone the season. And while the questions may be great, the answers ... well ... not so much. Part Five is Prediction Time as Bruno and company travel to Freiburg to see if they can earn their first Bundesliga win of the new year and, depending on how you interpret Matt and Travis' predictions, both guys are absolutely positive about VfB's chances! Nation, welcome to 2022's very first Pinks and Blues episode. For all of our new listeners, at least once a month, the Scaling UP! H2O podcast answers YOUR questions, and we call these episodes “Pinks and Blues”.  In today's Pinks and Blues, I start answering a very interesting question from one of our listeners: “What are the dos and don't of cleaning a Cooling Tower?”. Before I can answer that question, it is important to know what a Cooling Tower truly is, and why it is important that we clean it.  This is the first episode of the two-part series about Cooling Towers, so buckle your seatbelts because it's going to be a great episode.   Bottom line: WHY we should clean our Cooling Towers proactively. Your roadside friend, as you travel from client to client.  -Trace    Timestamps:  Completing your goals this year [00:01] If you don't have a standing desk, you don't know what you are missing [02:47] Upcoming Events [04:46] What do we need to know about cleaning a Cooling Tower? What are the interferences in your water analysis tests you run each and every day? How do you know your test results are not artificially high or low due to an interference? Do you know how to recognize an interference? Is iron an interference? High alkalinity? pH? Chlorine or other oxidizers? Is molybdenum an interference for iron testing in a closed-loop? Read your test procedures, ask your technical support department, and search online. Take this week to think about and research test interferences and which ones may impact you the most.   Quotes: “Scheduling (how often a Cooling Tower needs to get cleaned) deals with a bunch of unknowns.” - Trace Blackmore “We normally find that towers are cleaned as a reactive approach that something's not working right instead of a proactive approach.” - Trace Blackmore “Remember: a Cooling Tower is all about exchanging heat.”  - Trace Blackmore “Less surface area for the water to come in contact with the air means that the Cooling Tower is less efficient as a heat exchanger.” - Trace Blackmore “More energy means more cost to run the Cooling Tower.” - Trace Blackmore “A Cooling Tower is a heat transfer device because it allows air to interface with water, and that interface is the heat exchange.” - Trace Blackmore “If there is dirt and debris in that tower somewhere, it's not allowing us to be efficient.” - Trace Blackmore “A non-efficient heat transfer device is not doing a very good job at transferring heat.” - Trace Blackmore “Mark Lewis said: the dirt that settles out at the bottom of the tower basin should never exceed one quarter inch.” - Trace Blackmore “There's only so much we, as water treaters, can do without our customers committing to all the things they have to do.” - Trace Blackmore “A successful Legionella program is not that you have no Legionella in the system ever, it's that you know how much Legionella is in the system.” - Trace Blackmore “A lot of times, we overclean to overcompensate for not having filtration in the system.” - Trace Blackmore “The 'quadrinity' is the balance of chemical and mechanical working together so we can get the optimal job done.” - Trace Blackmore   Connect with Scaling UP H2O:  Email: corrine@blackmore-enterprises.com (podcast producer) Submit a show idea: Submit a Show Idea Scaling UP! Whether you know her from her Wainwright Prize nominated “Dancing with Bees”, from her time on the BBC's “It's Not Easy Being Green”, or from her intoxicating twitter-feed, there's no denying that Brigit Strawbridge Howard is charming, endlessly-inquisitive and has truly let nature into her very soul. But it has not always been that way. Here - in an incredibly personal interview - Brigit explains how Nature didn't feature in her early childhood whatsoever - only eventually making itself known to her as a “refuge from bullying”. Today, she is now part of a growing groundswell for environmental change and possesses a desire to place greater pressure upon policy makers - to make them see that the future is far more than just the coming weekend. But, there's perhaps no denying, that Brigit's true passion revolves around Bees! Here she will explain how Bumble Bees use the sonic resonance of their buzz to pollinate tomatoes, how Honey Bees use wild yeast to make fermented bee bread, how Bees are basically just “Vegetarian Wasps”, and how it was Bees that brought love into her life. On this episode, The Barretta Brothers celebrate the TV show Dinosaurs and welcome the people behind the Unisaurus and Hand Puppet Characters.   Episode Outline: 07:200mins: Conversation with Julianne Buescher, Michelan Sisti, John Kennedy, Rickey Boyd, and Jake Tate   33:30mins: Conversation with Julianne Buescher, Michelan Sisti, John Kennedy, Rickey Boyd, Jake Tate, Bruce Lanoli, Pons Maar, and Terri Hardin   35:50mins: Conversation with Allan Trautman, Terri Hardin, Bruce Lanoil, Tom Fisher, and Pons Maar.   ABOUT OUR GUESTS: Allan Trautman Allan Trautman was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Miami Beach with his family at the beginning of 9th grade. He began acting in Miami Beach Senior High under the direction of famed drama teacher Jay Jensen. He spent four years in St. Louis at Washington University, earning a BA in Physics and Drama. He then earned an MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts, where he met his wife, Diane. While in St. Louis, he began his puppetry career working on The Letter People at public TV station KETC. He performed in all 60 15-minute episodes, each one shot on a Friday (he skipped classes). Two years after graduating from CalArts, while working full-time at Leo's Stereo in the San Fernando Valley, a friend told him about an audition notice for a “puppet school” sponsored by Sid and Marty Krofft. Allan spent the summer of 1980 at what were a series of workshops under the direction of Tony Urbano. There he met other young puppeteers who all became lifelong friends—Bruce Lanoil, Kevin Carlson, Tim Blaney, and others. Much of the 1980s were spent working on projects for the Kroffts and for Dave Pavelonis and his Peppercorn Productions, as well as pursuing his acting career. During this time he was sent on an audition for Return of the Living Dead, and was cast as the Tarman, who went on to become an iconic zombie film character—among the first to ask specifically for “Brains!” In 1990, as part of the then-pending purchase of The Muppets by the Walt Disney Company, Jim Henson came to Los Angeles to direct Muppetvision 3-D, an attraction for Disney's theme parks. Again, a friend was able to get Allan into the audition, and this was the beginning of Allan's career with The Jim Henson Company and the Muppets. In 1991 Allan joined the cast of the ABC-TV series Dinosaurs as the animatronic puppeteer for Fran Sinclair. That show remained in production for 65 episodes, until the end of 1993, introducing Allan to sophisticated animatronics. This experience continued with movies like Babe, Men in Black, Doctor Dolittle, Jack Frost, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, Monkeybone, Cats and Dogs, Men in Black II, and The Country Bears. After Dinosaurs, two producers on that show requested his presence on their next show, Unhappily Ever After, a sitcom on the brand-new WB Network. Allan puppeteered Mr. Floppy, the lead character's wise-cracking (imaginary) talking bunny, voiced in front of a live audience by Bobcat Goldthwaite. In the meantime, Allan's work with The Muppets included videos such as It's Not Easy Being Green and Muppet Classic Theatre, the movie Muppets from Space, and, for TV, Muppets Tonight, It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, and The Muppets' Wizard of Oz. In the summer of 2005, Allan became a founding member of Puppet Up!—Uncensored, Henson Alternative's puppet/improv show. He performed in the show off-Broadway, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, on tour throughout the U.S., and on the historic Chaplin Stage on The Jim Henson Company lot. He also acted as puppetry technique instructor. He was one of three on-set puppeteers during production of The Jungle Book (2016), and was a core puppeteer on The Happytime Murders. Allan continues to work in physical as well as digital puppetry, in shows such as Splash and Bubbles for PBS Kids, and has moved into directing for that show and others. Julianne Buescher  Julianne Buescher is a whimsically versatile, classically trained actor, voice-over artist and Muppet Performer…whose new Muppet character Beverly Plume can be seen in “Muppets Now!” On Disney+! Follow Julianne on IG at @juliannebuescher and see all her credits at IMDb.me/juliannebuescher Jake Tate Jack Tate is an actor/puppeteer/voiceover guy. Mostly, he's retired, but he'd work if someone asked.  He was in movies: The Right Stuff, Monster in the Closet, Interview with an Assassin and many others. On TV, he did a lot of day-player roles: Fresh Prince, Frazier, Hotel, Murder She Wrote and many others, before he landed on Dinosaurs, as a regular player, a Unisaur, appearing as many of the characters interacting with the family. Another show he was a regular on later, was The Journey of Allen Strange, for Nickelodeon. He was more successful in commercials than TV or movies, doing pretty near 1000 of them, many as a spokesman for AT&T, Pepsi, Bud Light, Ford Mercury and played, for 20+ years, the character Jack in the Box. Dinosaurs was easily his career favorite. Michelan Sisti Michelan began his performing journey as a musician, then an actor with multiple Broadway roles, which directly led to him becoming a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in the original live action movies (Michelangelo).  Being Mikey, evolved into our ultimate animatronics show, “Dinosaurs”.  The coolest suit show EVER!  Since then, Mich has enjoyed 26 more years of Muppets and other neat things with puppets and motion capture.  He has loved every minute of the trip. Rickey Boyd Rickey's interest in animation and puppetry began at an early age. At eleven, he and one of his friends produced their own crude TV puppet shows at a local cable access station and experimented with 8mm animated short films. During High School he continued designing and building his own puppet characters. Later, he attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia where he majored in art and theater. During an internship at a local cable station he worked with college classmates Keith Thomas and Jeff Brown to produce two children's shows that featured his creations. This provided valuable monitor experience as well as enough footage for a demo reel. That reel would land him an audition with the Muppets. In 1988 he was interviewed by Jane Henson then met and auditioned for Jim Henson himself. He was asked to continue working with Jim Henson Productions as both an assistant and as a featured performer on various productions. He went on to performed various background characters on Sesame Street, The Abby in Wonderland special, Grandma Cookie Monster for Sesame Workshop's “Sesame Beginnings” project, Scooter and Crazy Harry in “Muppet's Wizard of Oz”, and Waffle in “Animal Jam”. Other projects include “Muppets From Space”, “Dinosaurs” the series, “Muppetvision 3D”, “Muppets at Disney World”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, The Jim Henson Hour's “Dog City” and “Song of the Cloud Forest”. Aside from  Henson Productions, Rickey has performed lead characters for The Nashville Network's Peppercorn Productions. Most recently he continues to puppeteer as Doug the Slug in “The Slugs and Bugs Show” for RightNow Media, and as “George” in the web series “Wondermore” for In Touch Ministries. In addition to performing Rickey is an Emmy winning Creative Director for Magnetic Dreams Animation Studios in Nashville, Tn. There, he designs and directs animations for clients such as “Sesame Street”, among others. He lives outside Nashville with his wife Judy and their children Emily and Andrew. John E. Kennedy John E. Kennedy is a lifelong puppeteer who began performing at age three and met and worked with Jim Henson at the age of 22.  He has been a member of Sesame Street since 1994, and currently performs The Amazing Mumford, a character originated by Jerry Nelson. John has also been a Muppet™ performer on projects such as Muppets From Space, The Muppets Wizard of Oz, The Muppets Take the Bowl, and The Muppets Take the O2. He has authored two puppet-making books (Puppet Mania and Puppet Planet), and has been a puppet captain, a choreographer, and a musician.   As a puppet builder, Kennedy has represented Jim Henson's exhibits around the world with his puppet kits; he has also instructed young puppeteers on cruises, camps, and festivals.  He lives in Ocoee, Florida with his wife, Julie, and creates custom puppet characters for theme parks and performs music with his band, Johnny K Band. Bruce Lanoil Bruce ”B” Lanoil, spawned in Brooklyn N.Y., raised on steady diet of Saturday morning Cartoons, Sugary cereals, Mad Magazines, Jerry Lewis and Classic Star Trek, is today, a proud and grateful 30 year veteran Muppeteer,.. Oh, the beaten path was never in the mix! As a Theater major at Cal State Northridge, a vaudevillian improvisational clown at heart, fate truly lent a “hand” when Master Puppeteer Tony Urbano chose Bruce from hundreds, for Sid and Marty Krofft's exclusive 1980 workshop. Many Commercials and videos followed, furthering his performance skills with Master teachers, Paul Sills, Avery Schreiber, (Spollin Theater Games), and Harvey Kalmanson (V.O.). Destiny and Jim Henson came knocking when Brian Henson cast Bruce as “Charlene Sinclair”, in TV's DINOSAURS for five glorious seasons on ABC/Disney (1990-93). Animatronics and Facial Puppeteering was a specialty as Bruce traveled the world complements of the incomparable Jim Henson Creature Shop, both in Films, Dr. Doolittle (1998), Adventures of Pinocchio (1996), Jack Frost (1998), Cats and Dogs 1 & 2, (2001 2010) and Television, The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss as The Cat in the Hat, Nickelodeon Season one (1996). Transcript —– It’s Not Easy Being Green – a 100 word story “We don’t like your kind here” said the elf to the orc. “Your kind?” asked the orc, bewildered. “Green skinned, orcs” the elf retorted. “I’m not an orc” said the orc. “What are you then” asked the elf, scratching his head. The orc answered “Isn’t it obvious? I’m an elf.” The bar exploded in laughter. A ball of arcane energy appeared at the orc’s hand. A few minutes later, everyone at the bar was either scorched or electrified. “My name is Viridi, I’m an elf and a mage, and no one laughs at me” the orc said as he left. —– Hi there and thanks for stopping by. I’m Guy, and you’re listening to my surreal sketchbook of reality. —– Episode 6, A Ball of Arcane Energy Fiction is often held together by what is commonly known as world lore. This episode Is a semi-philosophical look at the lore of fictional worlds and what it is made of. I’m not a professional philosopher by any means and my approach can be quite absurd, illogical and not at all that serious, so – you’ve been warned. Do not take this podcast too seriously. If you tend to take things too seriously, this might not be the podcast for you. Seriously. I mean it. Find another podcast to listen to. You’re still here? Good. Let’s talk about lore. The word lore might be a derivative of the word folklore, but it is far removed from it. If you want to immerse yourself in a fictional world, it has to be a believable one and there has to be some amount of suspension of disbelief. That’s where the lore of the story comes into play. It’s there to help your suspension of disbelief by making fictional worlds more believable. Lore gives you a background for the story and can include everything that surrounds the story, giving it a unique setting like stage decor. Lore is most common in the fictional worlds of fantasy and science fiction, though not exclusive to them. It would include the history of the fictional world, it’s mythology and even the geography of that world. It would include everything that would make it a living, breathing world. If it’s a fantasy world, the lore of that story might include things like the science of magic, how magic scientifically operates in that world. I have an experiment running in the other room. I’m trying to discover how magic works in our world. Let me check out how it’s going. I’ll be right back. —– Golbins – a 100 word story “The Golbins are coming.” I looked at the man with the unwashed hair and seven day beard and was sorry I sat next to him at the bar. I had to correct his mistake though. “Don’t you mean Goblins” I retorted. “No, those are completely different creatures. Goblins are little and green and they are only after your money. Golbins are furry and cute looking until they go for your throat.” I gave up and went home. Later that night, when I went to bed a little furry creature attacked me and gave me a good bite at the neck. —– Welcome back. Apparently we live in the real world and magic doesn’t really work here. If we were living in a fictional world though, part of making that world believable might be an account of how magic scientifically works at that world. That would be only a part of the lore of that world. There might be, for example, a political counterpart of the lore. That’s where factions in video games come from. Some games and stories, such as the worlds of Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft, have such developed lore that they have entire encyclopedia volumes devoted to that lore. Such volumes can include things like maps of the fictional world, information about it’s politics and the races evolving there and even things like studies of the languages spoken on those fictional worlds, including professional looking essays on linguistics. In fact, you could put anything that makes up that world into that encyclopedia, and if it’s a well constructed fictional world you would probably need several volumes to cover just a small portion of that world. In fact, you can put so much lore into a fictional world, even the people living in that world would start believing it’s real. If our lore is rich enough, even we might start believing our world is real. This concludes episode 6 of this podcast. Close the door on your way out and don’t forget – I’m just a figment of your imagination. —–

Most of us have a sense that if we’re really brilliant at our job, we’ll eventually get promoted to a leadership role, but something we often don’t realize is that doing and leading are two different things. And being great at doing, doesn’t mean that you’ll be great at leading. That’s because leadership is not an inherent skill — it's learned and trained. Chrisa Zindros Boyce is an expert on helping people figure out their leadership brand, and has some great insights on power shifting, and the importance of having a dream.   Chrisa has been a consultant, executive coach, and educator with the Handel Group since 2009. She works with serial entrepreneurs, perennial corporate executives, and established individual contributors around the world from a broad range of sectors including Finance, Legal Media, Entertainment, Fashion, Technology, and Government, to teach them how to define their leadership brand, strengthen their competitive edge and foster relationships that impact the bottom line.   Comfort is often a big reason for not changing. Chrisa explains how micro-changes and small nudges can be more effective in adding up to big changes, particularly when it comes to getting buy-in for innovative ideas. She also explains why climbing up the salary and responsibility ladder in an organization often decreases people’s ability to do their jobs and why having dreams for your career is so important (rather than getting stuck in goals). We dive into power shifting and discuss how we can make the mental shift to avoid listening to your ‘chicken’ and conceding defeat before you even begin through rescripting and reframing. Of course, all of this ties into how you can become a stronger leader and innovator — find out how with Chrisa.   If you are ready to: get buy-in from key decision makers on your next big idea be a high-impact, high-value member that ignites change foster a culture of innovation where everyone on your team is bringing innovative ideas that tackle challenges and seize opportunities… Join us on LaunchStreet — gotolaunchstreet.com   Mentioned in This Episode: Burst of Innovation Live Video on website — drivers and resistors of change and innovation Chrisa Zindros Boyce on LinkedIn Handel Group InnerU “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” by Chrisa Zindros Boyce Nine Lies About Work: A Freethinking Leader’s Guide to the Real World, by Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall

H2O’s 100th episode!  If you are a listener of the show, you have heard my voice 100 times.  Unbelievable...  Hosting this podcast has become a passion of mine.  Several years ago, I didn’t even know what a podcast was, now I'm celebrating 100 episodes of having a podcast.  During the past 100 episodes, I have learned a great deal about several things. On this episode we are going to celebrate not only what was done over the last 100 episodes, but what we learned, like these:  The importance of having community in our industry? a.) I don’t think I can take credit for it, but I have seen a shift in how water treaters reach out to fellow water treaters.  Before the show, I didn't think crossing company lines was a common practice.  But since the show started, I have had several individuals let me know that they have befriended other water treaters and they have both benefited from the new relationship. The podcast gave creation to The Scaling UP! Nation!  The Scaling UP! Nation! has become the community for industrial water treaters, and I think that is amazing.  I am humbled to be the tribe leader of our Nation! Other people think there is a need for the podcast:  a.) When I started on 4/4/2017, I would have been happy if my company’s team would have listened to the show.  To date we are over 10,000 listeners in over 64 countries and growing every day.  If this show didn't fill a need, we wouldn’t have numbers like that.  GO Scaling UP! Nation!  It’s all about the guests:  a.) This podcast was the first experience I had interviewing someone, outside of a job opportunity.  I learned how others in the podcast community conducted interviews and morphed it to my own style.  Interviewing was something I used to fear, now I find it very enjoyable.  I have learned so much.  Not just how to interview, but on a multitude of topics like how to be a better listener.  Additionally, our guests have been fantastic, not only are they knowledgeable, that are at the top in their field.  Thank you to all of our guests!  The list goes on but suffice it to say, I have experienced so many wonderful things in the past 100 episodes.  Thank you for being a listener of Scaling UP! H2O.  I truly wouldn’t have been able to get to 100 without you!  Please enjoy this 100th episode.  I know I enjoyed bringing it to you and look forward to the next 100!  Key Points From This Episode: Our humble beginning [0:02:05] Significance of 4-4-2017 [0:04:08] Trace's Favorite Story [0:05:50] Mark Lewis [0:07:25] Why Scaling UP! Greetings from Storybrooke – A Once Upon A Time Podcast

(S03E16) - A twister! A twister! Zelina in Oz. Her powers give her new parents some pause. The Wizard is waiting with her silver slippers. She leaves to find Rumple who’s suddenly chipper. In Storybrooke now she’s baiting Regina (Main Street at sundown her chosen arena). Her sister’s heart is what she is after, the absence of which sounds Regina’s laughter. She’s changing the past… at least that’s what we gleen… in this week’s new episode “It’s Not Easy Being Green”.

The second part of my interview with MERE SMITH, TV writer/producer of Angel, Rome, Burn Notice, and The Nine Lives of Chloe King. We talk a lot about Angel in the first half, including specific episodes Mere wrote, being on set, fight narrative, characters she loved to write for, and criticisms of the serialized nature of television. We talk about her departure from the show, then her subsequent jobs, including working for HBO's Rome and USA's Burn Notice, and all the ups and downs that came with those gigs. We touch on the differences between writing for network and cable, job titling & the WGA in Hollywood, the stresses of development hell and staffing season, and finally, the obstacles Mere has run into being a female writer in a predominantly male industry.Note: the episode does contain spoilers to plot points in "Angel."Gobbledygeek Podcast Ep 128 "What's Your Heroic Damage?"Mere's TwitterMere's TumblrMusic brought to you by music alleySong: See You at the LightsArtist: 1990sOther music -Song: It's Not Easy Being Green (words by Joe Raposo)Artist: Andy Hallett (as Lorne a.k.a. Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan)All rights reserved by those artists and their labels. Brigit Strawbridge will be remembered by many from the TV series 'It's Not Easy Being Green'. More recently, she has spent much of her time writing and talking about wild bees, especially bumblebees. This year, she is moving back to Cornwall, to the farm that was her family home and the hub of the TV series, with the aim of turning it into an educational centre, where people will be able to learn not only about bees, but also other country crafts and skills.  I visited Brigit at her farm and she spoke to me about her plans.
