Welcome back to this week’s episode of the Suburban Warrior podcast. Our next guest is a true survivor and in my opinion, the epitome of a Suburban Warrior! My dear friend Tracy Coyle is a survivor and warrior for many reasons. First, she has survived being my “ride or die” for the last 24 years. We met the very first day of school, freshman year in college, and have been friends and sisters since. After college, like many others, she headed to NYC to fulfill her dreams. She worked for Morgan Stanley in one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the World Trade Center. Little did she know, just a few years into her career, she would survive something more horrific than any of us could imagine, the 9/11 attacks.Fast forward 20 years, and she once again had to face another attack. This one was with a breast cancer diagnosis. I am beyond thrilled that my best friend in the world is here today to share her story of survival with us. Tracy is a wife, a working mom to 2 amazing daughters, and has beat cancer in the last year. I can’t wait for everyone to hear her story and how keeping a positive mindset has helped her get through it all.Connect with her on Instagram @tracywcoyle and on Facebook @Tracy Werther Coyle. Backstory: last night I sat on my deck and started talking to the sky as I always do. I asked for a sign that I was doing what I need to be doing, that I was going n the right track, that all my work was worth it, that I was actually reaching people, that Truth & Freedom would win. My eternal prayer. I get an email this morning from a popular online DJ named Mixhound. I’ve never met the guy or had any idea. He made a really sick remix of my vlog that I did by the ocean and asked permission if he could play it in his set. He sent me a copy. This dude is really good at what he does. I was very honored. I’m taking it as the sign I asked for. If it resonates please share and thank you all.

Last week we covered what Grace was and this week we are looking at what it means to “Warrior Up”. There is a battle for your life going on every day! The enemy is seeking to steal, kill and destroy your life. God gives us a recognition of the enemy and enables us to look to Truth and allow God to equip us, arm us and protect us. He enables us to “warrior up” with His scripture as we walk out this life of faith. The power we have from the Holy Spirit is stronger than the enemy. Learn how to battle up against the lies of the enemy and fight the good fight, through finding your identity in the authority and power of Jesus Christ!
A MUST LISTEN episode for each and every one of us!!! Dr. Jenn Simmons is a functional medicine physician who lives in Gladwyne, PA with her husband, Albert, and two boys, Andrew and Will. Dr. Simmons attended Jefferson Medical College, completed a general surgery residency at Albany Medical Center, and was the inaugural fellow in breast disease in Philadelphia in 2003. Just three years into her career, she was named TOP DOC by Philadelphia Magazine and maintained that title every year since. Dr. Simmons was one of the leaders in breast surgery and cancer care in Philadelphia for 16 years. She performed innovative, cutting-edge surgery and successfully treated thousands of women for breast cancer. She was frequently called on for interviews by both local and national news outlets, as a breast cancer authority. She speaks both locally and regionally on the topic of breast health, disease prevention, and the treatment of breast cancer. In 2017, Dr. Simmons was diagnosed with her first auto-immune disease. It was then that she learned the importance of diet in promoting health. Being a traditionally trained physician, she had limited training in the area of nutrition. She learned of functional medicine during this time and began doing some training in that field. So intoxicated by the concept of pursuing health rather than treating illness, she immersed herself in the study of functional medicine. In late 2018, following her second auto-immune diagnosis, she knew that she needed to leave surgery, both to heal herself but to help others to truly heal as well! In October 2019, she founded Real Health MD, a comprehensive wellness center that offers functional medicine and access to a host of other interventions that provide a roadmap to those who want to stop treating symptoms and instead know real health. After only a few months of practice, she was put on the cover of Main Line Today as their TOP DOC in integrative medicine! Dr. Simmons frequently speaks on her health journey, and on what she has learned in the course of healing herself. She continues to serve her breast cancer population by helping them and others to achieve hormonal health. When Dr. Simmons is not working, you can find her spending time with her family, at the dog park with her three dogs, perusing her local farmers market, on the tennis court, or in the kitchen with friends cooking up a storm. Hey Warriors- I hope you are staying healthy and safe during this unprecedented and crazy time. We are all navigating unchartered waters, with worry and fear driving our thoughts each day. Now, more than ever, we need to focus on our mental wellness and daily practices to stay mentally strong. In this episode, mindful mommy Bizette Gailewicz, shares her health journey with us and how focusing on positivity and mindfulness helped her heal. At 27 years-old she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder. She then battled pre-eclampsia during pregnancy, cardiac and kidney failure, and years of major flare-ups of lupus. Throughout her journey, she refused to accept the diagnosis she was given and was determined not to let it define her. She reached out to holistic healers and used practices such as mindfulness and meditation to help guide her through her journey. Today, she is healed and has dedicated her life to empowering children to help control big emotions so they grow into healthier and happier adults. She teaches meditation to children and has written a children’s book on meditation. She believes giving them the tools they need at a young age will help them to deal with the challenges that we all inevitably experience in life. I couldn’t argee more! Take a listen to this inspiring episode to hear how Bizettte healed herself by focusing on what she could control in her life, her mindset! What did you take away from this episode? Hey Warriors-I hope that everyone is staying healthy, safe, and sane as we all adhere to social distancing and do our best to support our local healthcare providers and all essential workers at this time. They are truly our heroes, keeping business moving and leaving their homes so that we can have food, medicine, and all the essentials that we need. We are extremely grateful for you! This is a scary and devastating time for many business owners. Many of us live in a small town where the local businesses are the heart and soul of our town. They are there for us, supporting our community, and brining us together through their food, services or entertainment. In this weeks special episode of Suburban Warrior Podcast, I interview two small business owners from very different businesses. Sean Coyle, owner of The Goat's Beard Restaurant in Manayunk and Wayne, PA and Maureen Doron, owner of SKIRT Fashion Boutique in Bryn Mawr & Philadelphia, PA and Stone Harbor, NJ. Two very different businesses, both forced to reevaluate how they do business during a shut down. These brave owners share their journey of how they had to instantly and consistently pivot their business model just to keep the lights on. And not only are they thinking outside the box as to how they can still serve their customers, but they are giving back to the community as well, putting those less fortunate first and extending a hand to neighbors in need. A true example of what it means to be a small business and support a community. Take a listen! My hope is that if you own a business of your own, this may help you to think differently as to how you can support your customer base and if you are a customer or a client, please consider supporting a small business if you can. Now more than ever, they need us just as much as we've always needed them. To learn more about The Goats Beard check them our on OG @thegoatsbeard where they post their curbside pickup menu daily. Hey there warriors! You may think this is all woo-woo, but we all have an inner voice that sometimes we choose to block out...and sometimes we listen. What if we all knew how to better communicate with that inner voice?Michelle Young is an enlightened woman. Her gifts started presenting themselves in childhood and were always prevalent in her life. Recent events that impacted Michelle involved the death of a family friend. Michelle was aware of extenuating circumstances around this tragic event. As spirit would have it, Michelle found a wonderful mentor to help her understand her gifts and how to nurture and develop them. One mentor lead to another, and step by step, Michelle has been guided both with personal mentorship and spiritual mentorship with her pen. She is a medium, a mom, a reiki practitioner and she channels messages from heaven. Michelle believes that we are all enlightened. That each and every one of us has gifts and we can learn to tap into them, to listen to our inner voice/intuition. Going deeper and learning how to tap into that place inside all of us all gives us the ability to develop, nurture, and thrive in all areas (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) all the days of our lives.
