Several fuel tankers were destroyed in Mali after al Qaeda-linked insurgents, who had declared a blockade on fuel imports to the country, attacked a convoy of more than 100 vehicles. That's according to local reports. A fuel supply blockade initiated by the militant group, JNIM, has been in place since early September. The militants had threatened fuel importers and drivers that they would be targeted while bringing products into the country. Mali's Prime Minister Maïga said, "the damage caused clearly demonstrates that armed groups in the area are desperate and have adopted a new operating method, causing panic in certain places." Diplomat Grant Dooley was inside the Australian Embassy building in Indonesia when a bomb went off, killing several people. This was just the beginning of a series of devastating events that Grant had to come to terms with years after moving back home to Australia.In 2004, Grant Dooley and his wife, Kristan, moved to Jakarta with their two young children to start a three-year posting at the Australian Embassy.In September of that year, Grant arrived at the embassy complex for a brief visit. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Syrian Christians facing “accelerated cultural erasure” Radical Muslim jihadis and other extremist groups have carried out brutal mass killings and other human rights violations against Syria's religious minorities, prompting calls from religious freedom advocates for the United States to take action, reports The Christian Post. Dr. Morhaf Ibrahim, president of the Alawites Association of the United States, says the attacks against Syria's Christian, Alawite and Druze communities are not just random acts of violence. "It's a deliberate campaign of terror," Ibrahim declared during a Wednesday press conference AAUS hosted on Capitol Hill to discuss the atrocities committed against Syrian ethno-religious minorities.  Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024, Syria's religious minorities are facing a rapid increase in violence from foreign jihadis, Assad loyalists and militias unleashed by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. After the Islamic alliance Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which is made up of former Islamic State and Al Qaeda fighters, ousted President Bashar al-Assad, religious freedom advocates have feared for the safety of Christians and other minority groups.  Sam Brownback, the former United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, talked about what he thinks needs to happen now. BROWNBACK: “I just know that right now is a critical moment to get the structure of Syrian government correct, where it needs to provide safety for everybody. It needs to be decentralized. “The minority groups need to be able to defend themselves, and you'll be able to have equal citizenship. It's important right now to get the structure, or you will have genocide in the future. It will go poorly.” The Christian back story in Syria is demonstrable, Of the 325 bishops who took part in the First Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325, twenty were from Syria. Suspected assassin of Charlie Kirk in custody The man suspected of murdering conservative influencer Charlie Kirk is now in custody, and has been identified as 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, reported LifeSiteNews.com. As police circulated images of the suspected shooter on Thursday, Robinson's father became convinced the killer was his son and confronted him, reports CNN. He asked, “Tyler, is this you? This looks like you.” His son acknowledged that it was him, and when his father urged him to turn himself in, Tyler suggested that he would rather kill himself. But after his father convinced him to talk with a youth pastor, Tyler agreed to be taken into custody around 11:00pm Thursday night. His arrest was first announced by President Donald Trump Friday morning on Fox and Friends. TRUMP: “I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody.” LAWRENCE JONES: “This is going to be a federal case, and there's many of us believe that Charlie was targeted because of his political ideology.” TRUMP: “Yeah.” JONES: “What's going to happen to this guy?” TRUMP: “Well, I hope he's going to be found guilty, I would imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did, Charlie Kirk was the finest person. He didn't deserve this.” Genesis 9:6 says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.” Robinson's hatred of Charlie Kirk A family member of Robinson's told investigators that the suspected shooter “had become more political in recent years,” and in particular had lashed out at Charlie Kirk at a recent family dinner, reports CNN. But, ironically enough, several years ago, in high school, Robinson – like his family – was politically conservative, and supported President Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 election. Robinson attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021. He was a pre-engineering major at the university but took a leave of absence after his first semester. Robinson then enrolled at Dixie Technical College in St. George. He is currently a third-year student in the electrical apprenticeship program, and obtained an apprentice electrician license in 2022. He drifted away from the Mormonism of his parents and became deeply connected to an on-line gaming community. Kirk's alleged assassin lived with transgender partner In a related development, the New York Post reports that Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, lived with his transgender partner. That individual, who has yet to be publicly identified by the authorities, is now fully cooperating with the FBI. According to public records, Lance Twiggs, age 22, resided at the same address where Robinson lived. A relative of Twiggs confirmed to The Post Saturday that “yes, they were roommates.”  Twiggs is a male pretending to be female. They shared an apartment in Saint George, Utah which is approximately four hours away from Utah Valley University in Orem, where Robinson allegedly shot Kirk. Twiggs said he "had no idea" Robinson was allegedly planning to assassinate the Turning Point USA founder. The person is not currently accused of any criminal activity in connection with the assassination. The FBI had text messages and other communications between Robinson and his partner that helped FBI agents zero in on Robinson. Officials said the FBI took evidence from their apartment, including computers, which has been sent to Quantico for review. Kirk was compassionate as he dialogued with a transgender student Charlie Kirk was known for respectfully disagreeing with liberal college students on a wide range of issues, political and religious, including with this 19-year-old woman pretending to be a man. Listen to both Kirk's commitment to the truth and compassion in a  conversation which Turning Point posted in May. STUDENT: “I just want to say I'm a transgender male. What age should kids be able to get things, like, hormone therapy? Because I don't know what's true, what's not." KIRK: “Tell me. Are you comfortable telling me your story?” STUDENT: “I've known that since, like, third grade, and I'm currently 19, almost 20. I have known basically since then. I didn't start going by, like, a different name until seventh and eighth grade, I just don't know, like, with the med…, like, the whole medical stuff, like, what's true, what's not, what's helpful. Because I've heard so many different opinions.” KIRK: “First of all, thank you so much for that.” STUDENT: “Of course.” KIRK: “And so I'm gonna have an opinion that very few people will ever tell you, which is, I want you to be very cautious putting drugs into your system in the pursuit of changing your body. I, instead, encourage you to work on what's going on in your brain first. I think what you need first and foremost is just a diagnosis, just someone that is going to listen to what you've gone through, listen to what else is going on. “My prayer for you, and again, very few people will say this, I actually want to see you be comfortable in how you were born." STUDENT: “Yeah.” KIRK: “I know that you might not feel that way, but I think that is something that you can achieve. I think that with the right team and the right people, you don't have to wage war on your body. You can learn to love your body.” People have posted fascinating comments online. One said, “This is what the Left calls hate! His response was pure compassion!”  Another said, “He was such a kind and caring man and they murdered him for it.”  A third person said, “Charlie … gave caring and respectful advice. Not at all the hateful monster the Left makes him out to be.” And another said, Charlie “WAS on his way to becoming the youngest president ever elected in America.  Bill Clinton was 46 in November '92. Charlie Kirk was gonna break that record. This loss will be felt for years!” Indeed, the Turning Point canopied tent proclaimed, “Prove me wrong.” Clearly, since the Left couldn't prove Charlie Kirk wrong, they killed him. Erika Kirk to assassin: “You have no idea what you just have unleashed!” On Friday, from the headquarters of Turning Point USA in Phoenix, Arizona, Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie, addressed the nation for 17-minutes, just two days after she witnessed her husband assassinated in front of her at Utah Valley University. ERIKA KIRK: “I want to thank the first responders who struggled heroically, heroically, to save Charles' life, and the police who acted bravely to make sure that there were no other victims on that terrible afternoon. “I want to thank President Trump and his incredible family for the same. Mr. President, my husband loved you, and he knew that you loved him too. He did. Your friendship was amazing.” Erika Kirk had a specific message for those responsible for taking her husband's life. ERIKA KIRK: “The evildoers responsible for my husband's assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God's merciful love. “They should all know this. If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, on the 24th anniversary of September 11th remember that Qatar and Saudi Arabia were behind it. Qatar protected Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind the attacks and Al Qaeda, and aided his escape from the FBI about two years prior. Qatar lies, cheats, funds terrorism, buys politicians, businesses, and sporting events, while providing safe haven to Hamas as it did for KSM. Later, the Charlie Kirk assassin is still at large, but the FBI is closing in. He will get caught and he needs to be put to death. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Papua New Guinea held National Repentance Day Papua New Guinea held its National Repentance Day last month with prayer and worship gatherings across the country. The event began in 2007 to remember the nation's Christian heritage.  The island country in Oceania is home to over 10 million people, most of whom identify as Christian. Papua New Guinea amended its constitution in March to declare itself a Christian nation. Rev. Jack Urame leads the Lutheran Evangelical Church in the country. He spoke at the recent event, calling for genuine repentance. He said, “Repentance is a way of life, acknowledging God as the source of our life, our country, and our very existence.” Matthew 3:8 says, “Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.” Nearly half of Evangelicals are in Africa Researchers shared data on global evangelicalism at an event hosted by the World Evangelical Alliance last week. Dr. Gina Zurlo, editor of the World Christian Database, estimates that there are up to 937 million Evangelicals worldwide. Also, the center of evangelicalism has shifted. Nearly half of Evangelicals are in Africa, 26% are in Asia, and only 11% are in North America. The country with the largest Evangelical population is now China, not the United States.  Poland shot down suspected Russian drones Reuters reports that Poland shot down suspected Russian drones that entered its airspace yesterday.   Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said it was “the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II.” But he also said he had “no reason to believe we're on the brink of war.” Russia denied responsibility for the incident. This marks the first time a NATO member has fired shots since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk assassinated on college campus Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old Christian founder of Turning Point USA, a massive conservative student organization on 3,500 college campuses, was fatally shot and killed on Wednesday, September 10th by an assassin at a Utah Valley University event in Orem, Utah, reports The Blaze.com. Justin Hickens was a witness, reports NBC News. HICKENS: “I was about 20 yards away on Charlie's left. There were thousands of people there. Unfortunately, there was no metal detectors. There was security by Charlie. But, you know, anybody could have shown up with whatever unfortunately. And I, I happen to kind of maneuver my way down close on the side. “The first interaction probably took about 10 minutes, it was a religious-related exchange. And then there was someone who stepped up, ironically, coincidentally, who asked the question about mass shootings. And about 60 to 90 seconds in, we just saw, we heard a big, loud shot. I saw a bunch of blood come out of Charlie. I saw his body kind of kick back and go limp, and everybody dropped to the ground. “Luckily, there were no other bullets sprayed into the crowd, because nobody was really able to go anywhere. It was just like a big open pavilion.” Kirk had 5.3 million followers on his X account and drew an audience of more than 500,000 monthly listeners to podcasts of his radio program, "The Charlie Kirk Show." He also authored or contributed to several books, including Time for a Turning Point: Setting a Course Toward Free Markets and Limited Government for Future Generations as well as The College Scam: How America's Universities Are Bankrupting and Brainwashing Away the Future of America's Youth, reports Reuters. Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox characterized the shooting this way. COX: “I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination. We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. First one of those is life. And today, a life was taken. “Charlie Kirk was, first and foremost, a husband and a dad to two young children. He was also very much politically involved, and that's why he was here on campus. Charlie believed in the power of free speech and debate to shape ideas and to persuade people.” While police initially arrested an older man as a suspect, he was subsequently released, reports The Daily Mail. Then, after FBI Director Kash Patel had a subject in custody, he was also released. The manhunt continues. Blaze Media CEO Tyler Cardon said, "Charlie Kirk was one of one. He was a gifted communicator, loving husband and father, visionary builder, and a faithful Christian. He was the most effective representative of conservative Christian values of his generation. A force of nature. I will miss him dearly." Conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings said this. JENNINGS: “I'll be honest with you, I am in utter disbelief at this. I sat in this room last summer, the night they shot the president. And now they shot Charlie. I'm not sure it's safe to be an outspoken conservative walking around in America right now. “This nation is in desperate need of prayer and some kind of an intervention. What was Charlie doing? Making a speech, engaging in rhetoric, having a debate. That's the bedrock of our nation.” Kirk's appearance at Utah Valley University was the kick-off event for The American Comeback Tour in which students, who disagreed with him, were invited to come to the microphone at the “Prove Me Wrong” table and ask Kirk a question. Blaze TV host Sara Gonzales was incredulous. GONZALES: “Charlie is doing this tour. Why? Because he wants to have a respectful dialogue with people who don't agree with him. That's the entire intention. That's why he sits there and he invites people up to the mic. He doesn't have to have a mic there. He doesn't have to invite people with opposing opinions up there. “The literal intention behind all of this is to have a civil debate, regardless of your opinion. And apparently, in this country, you can't have a differing opinion from the woke radical ideology without someone attempting to kill you.” Turning Point USA, whose revenue exceeded $81 million in 2022, has not only influenced multiple American elections, but has also sparked difficult conversations, changed perspectives, and helped build new connections on college campuses. President Trump addressed the nation last night on September 10th. TRUMP:  “I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah. Charlie inspired millions, and tonight, all who knew him and loved him are united in shock and horror. “Charlie was a patriot who devoted his life to the cause of open debate and the country that he loved so much, the United States of America. He's a martyr for truth and freedom, and there has never been anyone who was so respected by youth. “Charlie was also a man of deep, deep faith. And we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now at peace with God in Heaven. “This is a dark moment for America. Charlie Kirk traveled the nation, joyfully engaging with everyone interested in good faith debate. His mission was to bring young people into the political process, which he did better than anybody – ever -- to share his love of country and to spread the simple words of common sense. On campuses nationwide, he championed his ideas with courage, logic, humor and grace.” President Trump objected to how the Left and the media have demonized conservatives like Charlie Kirk. TRUMP: “It's long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible. For years, those on the radical Left have compared wonderful Americans, like Charlie, to Nazis and the world's worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.” And Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship shared this emotional reaction. LAURIE: “I'm sure many of you have heard the heartbreaking news. Charlie Kirk has died. This is an incredible loss. Charlie was such a courageous young man. “He was not only a bold and unwavering voice for Biblical truth in our culture, but also a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a husband and a family man. He will be deeply missed. “As shocking as this news is, we can take comfort in knowing that Charlie is now in Heaven. The moment he took his last breath here on Earth, he took his first breath in the presence of the Lord. That is the hope we hold on to as believers: eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.” Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife Erika, a former Miss Arizona USA beauty pageant winner, and their two children. Phillip Brown, a Christian businessman in Belton, Texas, said, “I pray that more young men will take his place and not be silenced.”   Hero of 9/11 remembered And finally, today marks 24 years since the tragic 9/11 attacks. In the early morning of September 11, 2001, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. The terrorists crashed two of the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. And the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania as passengers fought back against the hijackers.  One of those passengers was a Christian man named Todd Beamer. A call from the plane's phone records how he recited the Lord's prayer and Psalm 23 before confronting the terrorists. The plane crashed, killing everyone on board but saving the hijackers intended target, perhaps the U.S. Capitol or the White House.  Beamer's last recorded words were “Are you guys ready? Let's roll.” It became a rallying cry in the wake of the attacks which left nearly 3,000 people dead. Construction of the Virginia headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense began on September 11th, 1941 - spookily, the same date it was attacked by al-Qaeda six decades later.  The massive five-sided building, a potent symbol of America's military strength, became known as the Pentagon. Featuring 4 million square feet of office space, the building was designed by George Bergstrom under the supervision of Leslie R. Groves, who was later chosen to head the Manhattan Project and build the atomic bomb. Ltt Gen. Marc Sasseville was born into an Air Force family and that played a significant role in his decision to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy and become an Air Force officer. After 14 years on active duty, Sasseville shifted to the Air National Guard in 1999 and also became a commercial airline pilot.On September 11, 2001, Sasseville was serving with the 113th Wing of the District of Columbia Air National Guard at Andrews Air Force base when Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airliners. Once the second plane struck the World Trade Center, Sasseville and everyone else on base knew it was a terrorist attack. But would there be more planes? And would they be headed for Washington, D.C.?In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Gen. Sasseville tells how that day unfolded. He explains what development required pilots in the D.C. Air National Guard to scramble their F-16's and be ready to confront any other other planes being flown by terrorists. But they had a big problem. None of their F-16's were armed with missiles and there was no time to wait for that. The reality soon hit home: if they needed to stop an airliner, they'd have to hit it with their own planes. If that was required, they would not be coming home.Sasseville takes us through his thinking on the most effective way to strike an airliner with an F-16. Ultimately, that would not be necessary due to the heroism of the passengers aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Sasseville honors them and he tells us what it was like flying near the Pentagon not long after it was attacked.He also reveals the unexpected assignment he received later in that day on 9/11 and details his time as commander of the 410th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron in the early days of the Iraq War. Finally, he reflects upon what was really asked of him on 9/11 and his instinctive willingness to put his life on the line to protect our nation.

This keynote lecture delivered by Professor Hamit Bozarslan took place during the Kurdish Studies Conference organised by the LSE Middle East Centre and the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Sheffield. An expert in the Middle East, Turkey and the Kurdish question, Hamit Bozarslan has been director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris since 2006. A doctor of history and political science, he now focuses his research on the historical and political sociology of the Middle East, the revolutionary fact and violence present in the Arab world, and the formation of anti-democracies in the 21st century. Bozarslan is a regular contributor to French media such as Le Monde and is the author of a long list of works, including the essay 'Crisis, violence et dé-civilization' (2019), 'Révolution et état de violence: Middle East 2011-2015' (2015), 'History of Turkey: From the Empire to the Present' (2013), 'A History of Violence in the Middle East: From the End of the Ottoman Empire to al-Qaeda' (2008), 'From Political Struggle to Self-Sacrifice: Violence in the Middle East' (2004) & 'The Kurdish Question: States and Minorities in the Middle East' (1997). This event was chaired by Dr Zeynep Kaya. Zeynep is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Sheffield and a Visiting Fellow at the LSE Middle East Centre. Jewish Policy Center Senior Director Shoshana Bryen hosted Professor Mark Meirowitz, a foreign policy and Turkey expert from SUNY Maritime College, for a deep dive into Ankara's growing regional role, its involvement in Syria's evolution, and its increasingly fraught relationship with Israel. With characteristic clarity and urgency, Prof. Meirowitz broke down the labyrinth of regional alliances and rivalries, calling the situation “literally mind-boggling” and comparing Syria to a “petri dish for chaos.” HTS, Al-Shara, and the Shake-up in Syria The ousting of Bashar Assad by the jihadist group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by Ahmed al-Shara (also known as al-Jolani), marks a significant shift in Syria's power structure—and possibly the region's. Once associated with al-Qaeda and ISIS, al-Jolani now wears suits and promotes a veneer of moderation. “Maybe the Turks provided him with some of these outfits,” Meirowitz quipped, questioning the authenticity of his transformation. Al-Jolani was “boosted by” Turkish support, Meirowitz explained, calling him a Turkish client rather than an independent actor. HTS's limited control—bolstered by foreign fighters like Uyghurs—has led to violent, sectarian repression, particularly against Alawites, Druze, Christians, and Kurds. “We're with al-Shara, and a lot of people are depending on him,” Meirowitz said ominously. Turkey's Interests: Stabilizing Syria to Serve Domestic Needs Turkey's involvement, Meirowitz stressed, is strategic. With over 3 million Syrian refugees inside its borders, Ankara is pressuring Damascus to stabilize and repatriate them. “The Turks want them back to Syria,” he said, noting the domestic strain and political sensitivity of the refugee crisis. Turkey has walked a fine line—signing infrastructure and defense agreements with HTS-controlled Syria while avoiding giving it full military autonomy. “Turkey's position is that Al-Shara is the go-to person… Let al-Shara unify the country,” Meirowitz explained. But internal Kurdish dynamics—particularly involving PKK, now in peace talks with Erdogan's government—make full alignment with HTS and Syrian Kurds tenuous. Will Turkey's NATO Membership Complicate It All? One of the more sobering insights from Meirowitz was the hypothetical scenario of Turkey, a NATO power, declaring a no-fly zone over Syria—potentially triggering Article 5 protections if hostilities break out with Israel. “That, to me, is the number one worry… that Israel and Turkey would come to conflict,” he warned. He emphasized the ongoing “deconfliction meetings” between Israel and Turkey, and Israel and Syria—possibly triangulating with al-Jolani himself. But of all the moving parts, Meirowitz emphasized Turkey's NATO status remains a critical leverage point: “Let's be realistic here. If there was a skirmish…Article 5 could be on the table.” Humanitarian Crises and Jihadi Control: Who is Really Running Syria? The ongoing massacres of minorities, particularly the Druze in Suweida, raise urgent questions about al-Jolani's power. “Has he lost control over the jihadis in his own ranks?” Meirowitz pondered, highlighting the grim possibility of Syria spiraling toward becoming a full-blown jihadi state. “The optics are totally opposed to [the idea of moderation],” he said, noting public executions and forced beard-shaving of Druze men as disturbing parallels to Nazi visual propaganda. “Clearly, this is reprehensible. The United States isn’t going to stand for it,” he added, referring to conditional American Congressional support for lifting sanctions on Syria.  Erdogan's Domestic Calculations: Kurds, Elections, and Power Turning inward, Turkey's President Erdoğan is eyeing another term in 2028. Despite constitutional term limits, he may seek early elections or amendments—with the support of Kurdish parliamentarians. “He’s very popular in Turkey,” Meirowitz said, crediting Erdoğan's projection of Turkey as a global power broker. “Turkey's been made into a player on the world stage.” However, he noted Turkey's lira is down, inflation is high, and economic growth is tenuous beneath the surface. This tension is compounded by Erdoğan's crackdown on political opponents, including jailing rivals and invalidating degrees to prevent candidacies. The Bigger Stage: Turkey in Africa, NATO, and the UN Turkey's ambitions extend far beyond Syria. From military expansion in Africa to attempting alignment with BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ankara aims to diversify its global relevance. “They see themselves as undervalued,” noted Meirowitz. “It's not aggrandizement—it's coming from a feeling of being ignored.” Erdogan's call that “the world is bigger than five” is a veiled critique of the UN Security Council's permanent members—hinting at Turkey's desire for global restructuring that reflects its new stature. “They're trying to flex their muscles,” as one webinar participant insightfully noted.  Israel, Hamas, and the Limits of Pragmatism Meirowitz criticized Turkey's staunch support for Hamas and Hezbollah, calling it “a rabbit hole of disaster.” While support for Palestinian causes earns Erdogan domestic points, it's constraining Turkey's global relationships. “If everybody's a freedom fighter, that doesn't fly,” he said. At times, Israel and Turkey have found pragmatic partnership—like continued trade and oil transits during Syria's civil war—but the anti-Israel posture, sanctions, and rhetoric place those gains at risk. “We need to get together,” Meirowitz relayed from a Turkish businessman. “We like the same things… same food… same values.” Final Thoughts: Cautious Optimism, But Beware the Fault Lines In his closing remarks, Prof. Meirowitz struck a “guarded optimism” tone for Turkey's trajectory. “I believe Turkish leadership is going to give further thought to these directions,” he said, hoping Ankara will reconsider its Hamas alliance for more fruitful cooperation with Israel and the West. Bryen offered sober context: “Israel and Iran were friends once, too—until they weren't.” As Prof. Meirowitz put it, “Hamas is not a future for Turkey.” As the region’s political tectonics keep shifting, one question looms: Will Turkey's pragmatism prevail over ideology—or will ambition lead it down a path of strategic overreach? The answer, as Bryen put it, remains a moving thread.

Evidence has emerged that could change our understanding of the 9/11 terrorist attacks more than two decades ago. A 60 Minutes investigation has found that crucial information, initially turned over to the FBI shortly after the attacks, was never shared with the bureau's own field agents or senior intelligence officials. Correspondent Cecilia Vega reports on this evidence, which has come to light amid a lawsuit against the Saudi government filed by families of the nearly 3,000 victims and includes a video of a Saudi national filming the U.S. Capitol, thought to be al-Qaeda's fourth target. Alfonsi explores the artificial intelligence that powers Anduril's systems and reports on some of the company's most advanced weapons, including a submarine that operates without sailors. While several international groups refer to lethal autonomous weapons as “killer robots,” Luckey says that these innovations represent the future of warfare.
