Take the free quiz to find out why you're stuck in a sex rut: https://TheBetterBedroom.comWhat does it actually take to feel dominant in the bedroom, and why do so many of us freeze up when it's our turn to lead? In this episode, Heather sits down with Amanda Dames, a kink consultant and former professional dominatrix, to break down the real skills behind dominance, submission, and power dynamics in a relationship.Amanda spent two years working at a dungeon while holding down a corporate job at the Wall Street Journal, and she brings that hands-on experience into a real conversation about how dominant and submissive roles actually work, how to figure out your own authentic style, and how to vet a partner for safety before you ever get started. They cover the different types of Doms (Master, Traditional Dom, Caretaker Dom, and Pleasure Dom), the different types of submissives (service subs, slaves, baby girls and boys), the red flags that signal an unhealthy power dynamic, and why most of what we see about kink and BDSM in movies sets totally unrealistic expectations. If you're ready to go deeper than a podcast episode, visit https://HeatherShannon.co to request a free consultation and learn about Heather's signature Pathway to Passion coaching program.Timestamps: 0:00 Amanda's path from marine biology to the Wall Street Journal to a Craigslist dominatrix job 4:30 Discovering a more powerful, dominant version of herself 8:00 What a Dom's real job actually is, and how to avoid burnout 17:00 Why you need to talk to your partner before you talk divorce 19:30 How a real negotiation between a Dom and a client actually works 26:30 Why being patient with yourself matters more than getting it right the first time 30:00 The four types of Dominants, explained 36:20 The submissive types, and how to find your own style 37:50 How to vet a Dom (or any partner) for safety 45:00 Why movies like Secretary and Baby Girl are not how-to videos 51:00 Amanda's free worksheet for talking about your desires with confidenceTake the free quiz: https://TheBetterBedroom.comLearn more about Heather's Pathway to Passion coaching: https://HeatherShannon.coGet Amanda's free worksheet, Speaking Your Desires With Confidence: https://AmandaDames.comThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp

Cinema's dirtiest little secret is that it's designed to make you want something you can never have.In this episode of Celebrating Cinema, host Laura Gommans and Tom Ooms — LAB111's Head of Cinema — talk about what cinema's fixations have done to them. Laura learned to write in Elvish because of The Lord of the Rings. Tom is still working out how much of his idea of relationships comes from Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958). We have all spent more time thinking about actors and characters we will never meet than is probably reasonable. Parasocial attachment used to be the strange edge of fandom. Now it's the default condition of watching. The conversation moves through 60 years of films about obsession — Vertigo, Michael Powell's Peeping Tom (1960), and what they made possible: Misery, Perfect Blue, La Pianiste, Whiplash, Babygirl — but the question underneath is the one cinema doesn't like to answer. What does this kind of looking do to the people being looked at? The actor engineered into someone else's ideal. The face that turns into a brand. And whether cinema knows what it's done to us, or is still pretending it doesn't.A film podcast from LAB111 — Amsterdam's arthouse cinema for independent and cult films. Programmed alongside the Can't Get You Out Of My Head season. Produced by Elliot Bloom. Tickets at lab111.nl/obsession.

The Trial & Travails Of Norma Brighton MillenJump to the AD-FREE Safe House EditionEpisode 43 is the story of a young girl, the daughter of a prominent minister and graduate of a fine finishing school, who fell into the wrong crowd and married a man who would be executed for the crime of the gang he was trying to build. The papers never said, but I can't help but think the Millen-Faber Gang fancied themselves to be the Dillingers of the East Coast. The story grabbed my attention because of the way Norma Brighton Millen presented herself after her capture. Is she the innocent dupe as she proclaimed? Jeff and Brian are joined by director Rod Blackhurst about his forthcoming independent horror film Dolly, releasing in theaters only on March 6, 2026. Blackhurst explains how horror can produce joy by confronting internal dread—identity loss, isolation, and moral extremity—through a cinematic language that bypasses reason and provokes visceral response. He describes Dolly as an extreme, unrelenting film rooted in a real person's fears about inheriting a “monster” mother's traits, and as a collision between opposing views of motherhood and family. Dolls function as uncanny stand-ins for children and chosen family, with a larger, partially withheld mythology. Blackhurst discusses casting, including Sean William Scott's dramatic role and Fabianne Therese's demanding lead performance, emphasizing actor safety, and he rejects “torture porn” as his aim. He also reflects on gatekeeping, genre labels, influences like Barbarian, and using proof-of-concept shorts (Baby Girl, Night Swim) to get features made.

Outlouders, enjoy this free bite of Mia Freedman, Holly Wainwright & Amelia Lester. Catch the full chaos at 5 pm TODAY. Not a subscriber yet? Honestly, why wait? Holly loved Wuthering Heights. Amelia hated it. Mia was meh - probably the most batshit of all reactions about the most talked-about movie of the year. So today we get into it. Mia Freedman asks Amelia why she thinks Margot Robbie was so miscast as Cathy, why she wished Jacob Elordi came with subtitles and why she’d like two hours of her life back, please. And Mia wants Holly to explain why there was a barking woman on a leash, and whether the finger-sniffing scene was, actually, in Emily Bronte’s classic novel. It’s a no-holds-barred dissection of the choices made by Emerald Fennell and of course, why Mia walked out of the premiere. Remember, this is your free sample of today's subs episode. Episode Description: What's the weirdest thing you've ever used your phone's flashlight for?
The word "nuzzle" is being used and Victoria Beckham's humiliation is complete. Yes, we have an update on the devastating private family breakdown playing out in the most public of ways. Including: Why was Brooklyn Beckham's name trademarked to his mum? Why are wedding guests posting, and then deleting their recollections of 'that' dance? And what does the 'Atlantic Gap' have to do with all this? It's all here. Also, there have been four shark attacks in New South Wales in just 48 hours, with devastating repercussions. So, is it time Australia got better and louder about shark education? And, do you have an age-gap friendship? Amelia Lester, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright discuss an article that argues every 20-something woman needs a 40-something friend. What do both sides of that dynamic get out of those relationships? And why do they confuse everyone? Plus: The meaning behind Naomi Osaka's "catwalk" moment at the Australian Open. OH, and if you can't get enough Beckham news, Mia Freedman hosted a subscriber episode for Outlouders, and you can listen to it, here. But first they discuss Luann and her hot new Euro man galavanting on the beaches of Cancun, Chris Noth negging SJP on Instagram, a Joe Keery stan taking things to a place AI marriage and baby, Jenny Lewis marrying her dog, and Bryan Johnson's long, lurid tribute to his girlfriend on X.On RHOSLC, the ladies meet in Lisa's former (and Meredith's current) home of New York. Ms. Marks, Esq. starts things off by launching into Wild Rose's very public booze blackout at BravoCon, while Whitney's pill-popping accusations against Meredith seemingly slip away. Meredith's sister in Plum, Lisa, begins her Terminator assault on Heather and Angie (who can barely breathe in her corset), and Bronwyn, gagging them within an inch of their lives. Bronwyn, done with her Transatlantic bob and embracing wavy extensions, attempts to clear up lingering questions over her sordid past. She also confronts Lisa about Gout D*ck Gate and other insults on Todd's manhood. Britani arrives to muted reactions from her sisters of salt, waving to an invisible audience and continuing to alienate her coworkers. The Entity may have lost a Rose, but it gained a BabyGirl. Lara and Carey yo-ho out to the Caribbean once more to check in with the Real Housewives of Davey Jones's Locker on their yacht trip from Hell, but first they discuss All's Fair debuting to an iconic 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, and why Kim K is a legend for that.On RHOSLC, the women wake hungover and charred from the previous night's battle, as Bronwyn takes to sleeping on the poop deck to avoid sharing a bed with Britani, fresh off her unsuccessful attempt to seduce Captain Jason. Lisa continues to swear her innocence and lob accusations of disloyalty at Meredith. Baby Girl's loose lips come back to haunt again when Angie — revived from her sea-sick malaise — tells Bronwyn that Lisa shared gossip about Todd's alleged, fart-laden infidelity. Then, Meredith's slow-mo bullying of Britani hits a snag at the zombie dinner party, when Miss Bateman dredges up some cheating flotsam involving Seth and an alleged Ohio mistress. This is the story of a three-year-old girl and the highest court in the land. The Supreme Court case Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl is a legal battle that has entangled a biological father, a heart-broken couple, and the tragic history of Native American children taken from their families. We originally released this story back in 2013, when that girl's fate was still in the balance of various legal decisions. We thought now was a good time to bring the story back, because the Act at the center of the story is still being questioned. When then-producer Tim Howard first read about this case, it struck him as a sad but seemingly straightforward custody dispute. But, as he started talking to lawyers and historians and the families involved in the case, it became clear that it was much more than that. Because Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl challenges parts of the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act, this case puts one little girl at the center of a storm of legal intricacies, Native American tribal culture, and heart-wrenching personal stakes.LATERAL CUTS:What Up Holmes? The GatekeeperEPISODE CREDITS:Reported by - Tim HowardProduced by - Tim HowardEPISODE CITATIONS (so many):Background and Reporting from a range of different perspectives"Couple forced to give up daughter"An introductory article by Allyson Bird, for the Charleston, SC Post and Courier"Supreme Court Takes on Indian Child Welfare Act in Baby Veronica Case" A report for Indian Country Today by Suzette Brewer, who has also written a two-part series on the case."Supreme Court hears Indian child custody case"Tulsa World article by Michael Overall which includes Dusten Brown's account of his break-up with Veronica's mother, and his understanding about his custodial rights.
