I am re-publishing this episode from 2021 for Christmas week, 2023. What better Christmas present to give ourselves than an understanding of the Law of Attraction and the Art of Receiving? The Law of Attraction, as we understand it, doesn't always work! My guest, Patty Lennon, shares why that is and how we can remove our blocks to receiving. Patty is an ex-corporate banker turned intuitive coach. She cared for aging parents, worked through grief and racked up significant debt in the midst of starting a new business. A big shift that brought 'magic' into her life happened once she started to surrender her heavy obligations and hold faith that the Divine truly had her back. Patty has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company and Daily Worth. She is the founder and CEO of The Receiving School and the author of the new book, Make Space for Magic. We have a lively and insightful conversation which includes: • Living with the question, “Would God be happy with me?” • Seeing success through a new lens of "How can I help others succeed?" • What is “magic?” • What the energy of surrender creates for us • How the Law of Attraction must vibrate from our soul, not just our mind • We have to be receptive to receive what the Universe gives us • Being in receptivity means receiving every piece of our life, every piece of ourselves -- the good and the bad • Timing matters – be willing to accept something that is in the direction of your dreams -- you may have to wait for the ultimate fulfillment • We sometimes have desires but we don't ask • The horrible experience of Law of Attraction shaming – when people say, “It didn't work because you didn't do it right!” • This is an individualized process, not a one size fits all • The minute you have a desire, the divine starts co creating with you • There's only one currency on the other side of the veil and it's kindness • The five rules of receiving: 1) Receive the outer world fully 2) Receive yourself fully 3) Clear space to make space 4) Learn your language – how the divine communicates with you 5) Do your 100 percent but not more; after that surrender • The rejected self theory – the benefit to accepting ourselves as lazy, selfish, needy, etc. Patty Lennon links: https://www.pattylennon.com/ https://patty-lennon.mykajabi.com/the-receiving-school https://www.amazon.com/Make-Space-Magic-Abundance-Universe/dp/195480119X © the spiritual forum 2023

Are you currently saving money and amassing wealth or are you living paycheck to paycheck? Whether you are a stay at home mom, have a career, don't know much about how to manage money, or are great at it but always love learning more — there is something in this interview for you. Jennifer Barrett is on to discuss her new book, “Think Like a Breadwinner,” a wealth-building manifesto for women. Who doesn't want to build wealth… but the real question is ‘are you'? Jennifer tells us why women haven't been accustomed to thinking like a breadwinner, even when they are one. How and why it's so important to shift our mindsets to one of a breadwinner. She also provides tactical tips and relatable stories in this conversation to empower you to secure your financial future and rely on yourself even if you have a spouse. The days of waiting to be rescued are over as you are the heroine of your story. We cover so much in this empowering conversation! Tune in now and you can access the show notes at https://thegoodlifecoach.com/225. Please be sure to share it with your friends who would benefit from this information. Also be sure to follow the show on Apple Podcasts or your favorite app so you don't miss an episode. Are you enjoying the podcast? If so, I would love your review on Apple Podcasts. It only takes a minute. 1. Click on this link 2. Click “View in iTunes” button 3. Click “Follow” button 4. Click “Ratings and Reviews” text 5. Click to rate and leave short review and you're done! WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: 1. How women are taught to budget, save for a rainy day, and find a partner instead of being taught how to think about our long term vision and retirement. We need to be building wealth all along the way. 2. We need to plan as if we are going to be solely responsible for ourselves and our families for the rest of our lives. 3. Why men are given expansive thoughts for their financial capabilities more often then women. 4. How things are changing where more women are breadwinners than ever before. 5. Why the conventional breadwinner model was pervasive through the 20th century and how that's created no real models for women. Most women just assume they will be the main caregivers. 6. We are vulnerable if we are depending on someone else. Even if you think you'll be married for life it is important you make choices for your future. 7. Women are ambitious with their careers but we need to be ambitious and expansive with our thinking when it comes to our finances. 8. The role that the media plays in how women perceive their potential in regard to finances and creating wealth. 9. The role that parents play in teaching their sons and not their daughters about investing and other matters related to finances. 10. Why it's important to be informed if you decide to “off ramp” from your work to stay at home with your kids and why it may not be that easy to “on ramp” when you are ready 11. How to find community and support other women and much more. Tactical steps:1. Earn as much as you can for the role you are in if you are working. 2. Check your salary in your area of expertise. Check salary.com, fairygodboss.com glassdoor.com — quantify the value you bring so you are prepared to negotiate the best salary and close the wage gap. Your income is the springboard for wealth building. 3. Use every paycheck to become less dependent on your next paycheck. Invest it – put some in savings and some in the market. 4. Visualize – write down where you want to be in 3 years from now and write out the entire day in visceral details. Where do you want to be and what do you want to be doing? Make it real for yourself to get into the energetic space of what you want. Cut out pictures and visualize the future you desire. Do it twice a year and write the list as if it is in the present tense. Make your choices based on your values. “Intuition is a practice of reading the unseen” according to master intuitive Nikki Novo. But she wasn't always attuned to her mystic gift of intuition. As a child, she showed no signs of being a psychic, except for her fascination with the divine. After a bad breakup in her twenties, Nikki sought out clairvoyants for answers. One fortune teller, in particular, gave accurate and insightful readings. During the session, Nikki expressed her interest do readings and her psychic encouraged her to learn by giving her books. Through reading and meditation with spirit guides, Nikki learned to become intuitive. Spiritual guides come in multiple forms: a deity, an ancestor, or even a past life. A support can help you become more sensitive to different energies by translating unfamiliar frequencies for you. However, be discerning with who you connect to. In our eagerness to receive messages, we may unintentionally connect with a false guide and distort our communication with our spiritual support. It's important to consider our own mental state, integrity, intentions, timing, and humility to improve our intuition. When it comes to dating, you can definitely use your intuition to find a partner. In recent years there has been a big uprising of the feminine. This collective change has also prompted a transformation in men. While some are ready, most men are still evolving. The male will have to rise to match the feminine. As you get to know potential partners, be kind to yourself and keep in mind that the male is undergoing a process of ascension. Nikki is a Cuban-American spiritual mentor, intuitive healer, and medium. As the founder of Soul Academy, she teaches students how to access their intuition and discover their spiritual gifts. She is also the bestselling author of The Final Swipe, a book about using intuition for dating and relationships. Prior to her practice as a wellness specialist, Nikki was an editor for Refinery29 and MSN. Her work has been featured in Allure magazine, Town & Country, the Huffington Post, DailyWorth, and others. You are loved. You are cared for. You are worthy. Always. You always have support and all your desires can and will be met. If you do one thing, let go and receive. That is what creates space for magic. –Patty Lennon On this episode of the PlanSimple Podcast, I'm really excited to talk with Patty Lennon, who helps women learn to receive and create magic. She teaches from experience and continues to learn herself. I'm so excited about her new book Make Space for Magic that dives into this topic. I watch so many people stack their schedules so full that there is no space to receive and create magic. And I learned how much room there can be for magic, if we are open. The past year was one of the hardest years of my life personally, and there was more magic that I would have ever experienced or known. In the moment it was incredibly hard, but I'm so grateful for all of it. We talk about: Why we need to let go to receive and what the work of letting go looks like How different giving up and letting go are Seeing signs from our spirit guides telling us we are enough, we are loved How the way we make space can create an energy of resistance The Five Rules of Receiving and the 100% rule Facing terror and sabotaging ourselves BIO Patty Lennon is a best-selling author, keynote speaker, certified coach, and founder of The Receiving School®. She is a former type-A corporate banker who discovered there was more to life than making money. Patty holds a masters in psychology and has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, and Daily Worth. She blends brain science and metaphysics to help her fellow humans manifest their dreams into reality. Patty says that whenever spirit guides come, some of the first things they say are “You are loved” and “We're proud of you.” What if we believed that? What if we believed we were loved and enough. Tell yourself that every day. Start the day saying it into your mirror. Leave yourself “I love you” or “I'm proud of you” notes. Keep repeating this message. STOP RESISTING CLAIMS ON YOUR TIME. Creating space for magic doesn't just happen, but creating too much resistance energy doesn't help either. Patty recommends getting to a point of letting claims on your time wash through you instead of holding them off. One first step to doing this is using a time framework, where you block off time for yourself. SIT WITH THE FEAR. The brain can only hold fear for 1– 2 minutes. When you feel the terror that you won't succeed and want to leave the work you are doing to grab a cookie, you are trying to get out of that discomfort. Instead, set time for 90 seconds or 2 minutes. Sit and breathe through the fear without switching what you are doing. When it passes, continue with your task at hand.

Our society has conditioned us to think that money is gendered and that men are more competent when it comes to matters of money. Further, society tells us that women, because we're “nurturing or caretaking” are not strong enough to handle money. Amanda Steinberg joins me to turn that idea on its head, talk about women's financial empowerment, and share a roadmap so you can become financially free. Amanda's founded multiple businesses in finance, media, and politics. In 2009, she founded DailyWorth, a startup focused on women's financial independence and grew its audience and email list to 1.2M email subscribers. I believe you'll get a lot from our conversation. But if there is one thing you gain from this episode, I hope it's this: your thoughts and feelings of powerlessness about money are not your fault. As Amanda shares in this episode, “You were socially conditioned to think that you're bad with money. That is how everyone got to continuously take advantage of you for most of your life. And honestly, how you also got rewarded and praised for being a good girl. So don't beat yourself up.” Phew. What a relief, right? Show Highlights What led Amanda to create a company that focuses on women's financial independence. (5:26) Amanda shares her own story around money, which started at the age of six. (6:43) We have collective money stories and then we have individual stories. (9:21) Amanda's thoughts on her vision for men and women during this time of change in which we are liberated from these preconceived notions of who we are supposed to be. (13:57) Busting the cultural myth that men are providers and women are caretakers. (15:00) Financial advice for women going through divorce. (16:56) Amanda created DailyWorth because she wanted to connect women's self-worth to their net worth. (18:29) A women's roadmap to financial independence. (39:17) Learn More About Amanda: Amanda's founded multiple businesses in finance, media, and politics. In 2009, she founded DailyWorth, a startup focused on women's financial independence and grew its audience and email list to 1.2M email subscribers. After DailyWorth was acquired, she moved into politics as the lead digital fundraiser for Marianne Williamson for President. How two of the most successful women at the helm of email newsletter media companies think about email. Jen Bolden sold IdealBite to Disney in 2009 and Amanda Steinberg sold DailyWorth in 2018. They co-founded HigherU, where they set emerging impact entrepreneurs for success in order to create a more just, humane, and sustainable world. Jen and Amanda are incredible examples of how we can utilize email in genuine and authentic ways to cultivate an audience and rally them around our mission and our purpose.Key Points From This Episode:When Jen started IdealBite, she created emails as a way to share ideas about how people can make the world more sustainable. The strategy was based after Daily Candy. Amanda started DailyWorth with email as the strategy from day one because it was highly scalable with really low overhead. Jen helped mentor Amanda in the early days of DailyWorth with tips on paid growth, barters, and understanding the importance of how you are perceived in the world. Both Jen and Amanda discuss what they would have done differently with their newsletters before they were sold. When Jen and Amanda created HigherU.com, they knew how to grow and scale a business where you need to have people who are very passionate and buy in. They love email for movement marketing and they have a formula for transforming people on your email list to clients, sales donors, etc. Doing the work is a key part of their formula and really staying true to one's unique self and mission. Pursuing 5,000 mission-aligned emails is important because you have to have a big enough audience to generate enough income from a very small percentage of it. Tweetables:It was a hundred percent like just get it into their inbox, let them have an amazing experience. Let them walk away feeling satisfied because they just learned something. @JenBoulden (02:40) What we know how to do is go from small to big. It's very much about what we've done, but it's about teaching others how to do it. @AmandaSteinberg (14:49) Email allows for just a much more natural flow of a real genuine quote-unquote relationship. @JenBoulden (17:07) In order to build a movement, you have to have a big enough audience where you can generate enough income from a very small percentage of it. @AmandaSteinberg (23:04) Links Mentioned in this Episode:HigherUJen Boulden on TwitterJen Boulden on LinkedInAmanda Steinberg on TwitterAmanda Steinberg on LinkedInMailchimpDaily CandyDanny LevyMarianne Williamson Tory Burch fellow

Today on the show, we welcome Jennifer Barrett. She is the author of “Think Like A Breadwinner” - a wealth building manifesto for women who want to earn more and worry less. A financial journalist first, Jennifer then moved to the management track, working for Newsweek, New York Times, Hearst, NBC, CNBC. Now she works at Acorn - an app to help people save more money. We talked about how she worked at DailyWorth - one of the first sites to focus on reaching women with money knowledge. And now thankfully, there are many sites that are trying to reach women. Jennifer stresses how important it is for women to find your people. Female leaders and female managers who feel like they’re the only in their company need to seek out other women and organizations to support and inspire them. Chief is a female only network Jennifer joined that is expanding all over the country. There are more similar groups - Luminary, The Riveter, Hey Mama, AllBright, Dreamers and Doers being a few. Jennifer shares more about the Acorns App. It’s the spare change investing app. When you use your debit card, they round up the purchases and invest the change. It makes investing so much easier. Jennifer’s book, “Think Like A Breadwinner”, was written from her own experience living in New York in a one bedroom apartment with her husband and toddler. She had been at Newsweek for 7 years and hadn’t negotiated her salary during that time. Even though she thought of herself as independent, Jennifer realized she wasn’t truly independent, she was just treading water. She knew she needed to be more proactive. After further reflection, Jennifer realized if she had been raised like a man who expected to be the breadwinner, she would have made very different choices. Then she asked herself, going forward, what kind of choices would she make if she was thinking like a breadwinner. Jennifer talks about how with each paycheck, use it as an opportunity to be less dependent on the next paycheck. Every time you have money coming in, ask yourself what is the most I can take out of this check to put towards my future, to start growing that money. One day you will be less dependent and not live paycheck to paycheck. It was also important for Jennifer to start negotiating like a breadwinner. She shares how it was difficult at first and how important and helpful a female network can be in this situation. Previously to being in management, Jennifer thought what they’re offering is what they can afford. She learned that there is usually budgeted ranges for salaries with the expectation that a candidate will negotiate. Parents talk to their daughters differently than they talk to their sons. Parents talk to their daughters about budgeting and shopping smartly, clipping coupons. They talk to their sons about building credit, investing wisely and all the skills you need to be a successful breadwinner and provider. Even though Jennifer had great role models in her parents, they didn’t have conversations about money. She also didn’t have any conversations with school counselors or advisors. When Jennifer got a job she began a cycle of overspending and then earning more. With her own children, Jennifer has taught them about pricing, investing and they have open conversations about money too. The definition for success Jennifer gives is being able to have the life and the impact she wants to have and to support the people and the causes she cares about. The 3 words that come to mind for her when she thinks about the word money are freedom, power and impact. Tara McMullin (formally Tara Gentile) is a podcaster, writer, and small business community leader. With over a decade of experience helping thousands of small business owners grow their businesses, she's on a mission to change the dialogue about what's really working from hype to candid conversation. She's the host of the What Works podcast, a top small business podcast that's been recommended by Forbes and Entrepreneur, as well as the founder of The What Works Network, a community hub for small business owners. She's also a bestselling Money & Life instructor on CreativeLive. Her work has been featured on Fast Company, Inc, Daily Worth, and The Huffington Post.In this conversation we talk about why she shifted from teaching, coaching and providing courses online to a radically different model - a community of learning filled with small business owners from across industries and business models who are ready and willing to get real about what's working–and what's not.We talk about why, for most of us, taking course after course simply doesn't work. There is no one size fits all approach, and instead, we need a combination of tailored solutions, support and ideas, community, resilience and more.We also dive into what drove Tara personally to leave a very successful business model behind and create something radically difference (even if she didn't initially realise just HOW radically different her new direction was!) For me, Tara has always been at the cutting edge of small business thought leadership. She was the first business mentor I hired and her work has personally influenced me a lot over the years. So this conversation was an absolute joy for me and I know you're going to find it fascinating and wickedly useful too. In the episode, we literally break down how you, an entrepreneur or a creator, can start getting media coverage with their ideas and content. I LOVE this episode because honestly, this is something that I struggle with so I selfishly asked Gwen on here and she over delivered with the value of this content. Of course, we get into her story, how she had to move home twice. Not once, twice. And I hope you take notes because even as I was listening to the episode, I learnt a couple new things.
