She is a frequent public speaker and media personality, and has written for and been featured by Forbes, CNN, The Atlantic, The Economist, TIME, The Financial Times, TED, Bulletproof Executive, New York Observer, DailyWorth, The Huffington Post, and dozens more. Favorite Success Quote “Happiness is not a goal, it is a byproduct” ~Eleanor Roosevelt Key Points 1. True Happiness is Never the Goal All too often in our modern Western culture, people chase happiness. Happiness is something that they try to attain, it is a goal that they pursue, and in the end, it is this pursuit of happiness that ultimately leads to its demise. True happiness doesn’t come from simply meditating, chanting a mantra, or looking at yourself in the mirror and saying “I am happy, I am happy, I am happy”. True happiness is a multifaceted feeling that is derived from creating a multifaceted and fulfilling life. I want you to imagine two men on their personal growth journey. Man #1 spends his mornings meditating, screaming incantations about happiness, and journaling about how he wants to feel happy. He is constantly chasing happiness, but finds that every time he experiences unhappiness, he spirals into a downward plunge thinking to himself “Why am I not happy? What am I doing wrong? Life sucks!” Man #2 on the other hand, is not concerned with feeling happiness, but rather with creating an optimal life where happiness is the byproduct. He meditates in the morning, says his affirmations in the mirror, and writes in his journal, sure. But he is focused on something bigger. He is building a business, growing a family, taking care of his body, and putting himself into flow every day. And as a result of these actions, he experiences true and recurring happiness. Stop chasing happiness and let it come to you. 2. Develop Your Personal Rulebook  There is an old saying that “Life doesn’t come with an owners manual”. Life is unpredictable and we are often left confused and clueless about what we should do. However, the only way that we can truly experience any level of consistency in this crazy thing called life is to hold ourselves (the only thing that we are truly in control of) accountable to our own set or rules and values. In other words, to create our own personal rule book for what we will allow in our lives and what we won’t, how we will act and how we will not, what we will and will not tolerate, and most importantly, who we will show up as every single day of the week. Life may not come with an owners manual, but whenver you create rules for your life, you don’t need one. You don’t have to look outside of yourself for the answer to problems that you face. Instead, you approach each and every hour, minute, and second of your life through a set of lenses that you have created and determined. If you have created a rule for yourself that you will prioritize family over finances, then you don’t have to worry about whether you should take the higher paying job or continue working at a lower pay grade so that you can continue spending time with your children. If you have a personal rule that you do not drink, smoke, or snort cocaine, then you aren’t going to have to wonder whether you should try it “just this once” when you are out with your friends, because you have a set of rules that you abide by. The thing is, outside of the basic moral fibers that constitute and uphold our society, there are no “wrong” rules. For some of you, finances might be the biggest priority in your life, for others it might be your health or your spirituality. Some of you are totally ok having an occasional cigarette and drinking a glass of wine each night and some of you have highly addictive personalities and can’t touch the stuff. Know yourself, know your worth, and create your rules accordingly. 3. Prioritize Your Social Life to Optimize the Rest of Your Life  Many men put off creating and maintaining a healthy social life in favor of relentlessly pursuing their financial and career goals. This is a mistake. What most men do not realize is that a healthy social life is actually one of the biggest keys to having a healthy life, period. Social connection, love, and friendship are so important that if you are not cultivating strong relationships in your life, you are doing the same damage to your body as if you were smoking a pack of cigarettes a day! It is hardwired into our genes and our psyche to seek out companionship and relationships and to build communities of our own. And in our “hyper-connected” world, we seem to forget the importance of real human interaction. If you want to instantly boost your happiness, health, and success, then seek out new friendships with positive people, and cultivate those relationships on a daily basis. Whether you simply have coffee with a friend before work, go to the gym every day with your significant other, or host weekly dinner parties, it is important that you get off of your devices and into real interaction. 4.It is NEVER too Early or Late to Pivot Your Life Whenever you ask someone why they are unwilling to make a drastic change in their life, they will often tell you that they feel they are too young or too old. Let me tell you right now, you are never too young or too old to pivot and achieve the life that you want. It doesn’t matter whether you are 15 or 95, you can make the conscious decision today to make a pivot, to make a change, and to start living a life on your terms. 5. Remember that Life is Created in Our Moments of Play and Introspection Two of the key components of true happiness that are often entirely ignored by the modern man are play and introspection. Life is a journey, and it’s supposed to be a fun one. You weren’t put on this planet to constantly be serious and miserable, you were put here to make an impact and have fun while you do it. If you want to be happier, then stop taking yourself so damn seriously! Relax, enjoy the simpler things in life, and just play around. Be goofy, be spontaneous, be funny, be ridiculous, just play. The funny thing that you will find is that your moments of play often bring about the greatest ideas and epiphanies to shape the rest of your life. However, as you work hard and play harder, never forget to take time to pause and reflect. Take time away from the noise for introspection. Think, reflect, and ponder your own existence, your own purpose, and your own character. Your moments of introspection will equip you with the power and the self-knowledge that you need to truly show up in every area of your life.

Meet Todd White, of Dry Farm Wines. We had a fascinating conversation about the wine industry and how larger companies are  buying out small companies in the USA and other countries. Wine is not what it used to be. The large companies are still masquerading as smaller companies but the quality of the wine has gone down, win are buying created in large factories and the percentage of alcohol has increased to created a stronger wine for the general public. This has taken away from not only the taste and quality but the health aspects of wine.  We both discuss our bad side effects from drinking commercial wines and how if feels like drinking poison. Todd created his company because of this and he wanted to create a way for health minded people who were really watching their sugar and alcohol intake to still be able to enjoy drinking wine.  By doing his due diligence and sourcing unique vineyards in Europe where they still care about the quality of the wine, he was able to start bottling some really unique and delicious healthy wines. He sources from  small farms in places like Italy where farms are family owned and run.  Daily practice of fasting all day and eating only one meal at night while also enjoying a bottle of wine. This practice of fasting for 22 hours a day has helped Todd to become lean and sharp-minded while running his company. He has been practicing his fasting methods for 4 ½ years and has been able to stay in ketosis this way. It took him about a month to adapt to eat this way. Now he doesn't need to eat during the day and is not hungry.  Willpower doesn't work and how you need to have a routine that you can stick to. To create a lifestyle of eating well on a Ketogenic diet and pay attention to how food affects you. Only then can you create eating as part of a healthy lifestyle instead of a diet or eating to sedate your thinking mind. Meditation and how doing even just 20 minutes a day minimum can help you have a happier life and can also help you stick to what's important to you in life. It can help you to  avoid using foods, drugs and alcohol and movies as escapism. Sometimes we check out because the trauma of thought is too stressful. That's why meditation  is so popular now, it's because it works. Cold Therapy: One of Todds practices daily is a freezing cold shower to start his day. He feels this creates a huge amount of energy for his workouts and for his day and he feels euphoric when he does it. It's not for bathing,  that comes later, it's just for jump starting his body. He practices the Wim Hof method of breathing which is a deep breathing and breath holding technique which can help boost the immune system and help to  withstand the cold temperatures much better. Cold exposure scientific studies show that it increases brown fat in your body which burns more calories and the studies showed an 80% increase in the metabolic fat burning rate. Mice who were exposed to cold therapy ate more than their counterparts and weighed less. It is also great for reducing inflammation in the body. Whether it's an injured limb or just overall chronic inflammation, cold baths and showers can help! Try starting with just 1 minute in cold water a day and increase your time to get up to 5 minutes. Ice baths same thing.  Wim Hof breathing  was mentioned, here is his information: https://www.wimhofmethod.com/ Fasting-. Todd has done extended fasting for 3-5 days at a time and is now interested in trying the fasting mimicking diet by adding bone broth to his diet. He has really good success with all kinds of fasting but believes that 3-5 days of a water fast can impart huge benefits.  More info about fasting: https://purejoyplanet.com/?s=fasting Training- Todd likes to exercise between 30-50 minutes for the benefits it has on his overall mental wellness. However when he doesn't have time, he loves the 10 minute high intensity interval training. He says he really benefits from those as well. You can even just go find a hill somewhere if you are traveling and sprint up then jog back down. Or use the gym at the hotel and do the treadmill on a high incline setting for similar results.   For the 1 cent bottle of wine go to http://dryfarmwines.com/purejoy Social: https://www.instagram.com/dryfarmwines/   Todd White Dry Farm Wines Founder | Health Evangelist todd@dryfarmwines.com (m)707-968-9700 (o) 707-944-1500 skype: dryfarmwines All social media: dryfarmwines   Todd has been serial entrepreneur and creator since he was age 17.   Today, after 15 years in the wine business his life is dedicated to educating and helping people make better choices about food, nutrition, and how they think about consuming alcohol. Fear will hold you back. I get emails every single day from listeners looking for how to overcome fear. The fears are different, but the problem is the same. I'm afraid I don't have what it takes I'm afraid that even if I'll lose the weight I'll put it back on Fear of missing out gets me every time What if I have loose skin when I lose the weight? Fear impedes action and is fueled by thought. ---Having Been Sick from Mold Toxicity, and With My Co-Host and Wife Jessica Lee STILL struggling and on a very long-road back to recovery from Mold Toxicity Poisoning, this is our perhaps our most important interview yet.--- DETAILS: The hosts of Inspire Nation have been living in a mold-infested house for four years, slowly withering away without knowing why. They were very impressed by MOLDY and the webinar and will interview Dave Asprey, producer, and host of Bulletproof Radio about the film. Jessica is taking a break from co-hosting as she still has mold toxicity and gets very fatigued, but this is an important interview for her so she will join for this one. Introduction: Today we have a very special guest. His name is Dave Asprey. Dave Asprey is the founder of The Bulletproof Executive, is a Silicon Valley investor and technology entrepreneur who spent two decades and over $300,000 to hack his own biology. Dave lost 100 pounds without counting calories or excessive exercise, used techniques to upgrade his brain by more than 20 IQ points, and lowered his biological age while learning to sleep more efficiently in less time. Learning to do these seemingly impossible things transformed him into a better entrepreneur, a better husband, and a better father. Dave is the creator of the widely popular Bulletproof Coffee, host of the radio show and #1 health podcast, Bulletproof Radio, and author of the New York Times bestselling book, THE BULLETPROOF DIET. Dave's newest venture, the first Bulletproof Coffee shop is scheduled to open in Santa Monica, California in early 2015. His Bulletproof Films released the company's first documentary film, MOLDY, in June 2015. – which is the topic of conversation today. Background: Before we begin, a bit of background on us. This year Jessica and I moved from Maui to her parents place in New Jersey. It was an emergency move, after our health came crashing down around us. We didn't know what was going on. For two years Jessica was getting sicker and sicker. We thought it was the air from a neighboring volcano, until we realized getting her out of the house, and into an air conditioned car or anywhere else on the island and suddenly she'd feel better. Get her out, she felt human, and became a little chatterbox. Bring her home, she'd been exhausted, unable to speak intelligently, frazzled, with headaches, nausea and feeling sick. For myself, my downward slide took the form of an old and fragile body…with unexplainable minor injury after injury, and with a fall that lead to a near death accident---later tested to reveal incredibly weak bone density, despite lots of activity. On top of that I struggled with brain fog. For Jessica, this meant she was back in bad, almost unable to finish sentences by the time it was noon. For me, it meant the shortest attention span and inability to multi-task I've ever experienced. And this from a life coach who's specialized in working with those with ADD, myself included. It wasn't until a week before we left, with the world crashing down around us, that the cleaners found a carpet 1 inch thick of black mold on the upper level of the house where we couldn't see it. It was in the walls, on all upper surfaces, on the ceiling, and even in the skylights…though we'd been told it was dirt. We are so lucky to have gotten out. The previous tenant who lived in our home for seven years, came down with what we believe was terminal brain cancer. On that light note, let's jump right into things. Key Questions: What the heck happened with you (Dave Asprey) in your life with mold? How did you figure out it was mold? Is this something others need to concern themselves with, or only in old, delipated houses? How many homes do you guess are mold infected? How many people are sensitive to mold? What do you do if you live in a home with mold or feel you're sensitive to mold. Is there a way to accurately test your home? What would you do if you can't move? In the documentary, Dr. Daniel Amen talks about measures you can take to heal the brain, what would some of those be? What would good dietary advice be? How strict does one need to be to eliminate sugar from their diet? What are the absolute most important supplements one needs to take? What do you do if you're stuck in a job with mold? How long does it take one to get better? How do you know when you're healed? (it's hard to remember what baseline is) How long does it take to get your brain back online? Where can people go to get more advice? Switching gears, what advice can you give everyone to begin healing their bodies? More Topics include: How do you tell if a home is moldy What does acute exposure feel like? What does PTSD and mold-exposure have to do with each other? How can sugar help you if you've had mold exposure? What's the emergency protocol if you've had acute exposure? What do you do if you're living in a home that still has some mold? What do you need to know if you've moved from a home with mold? What foods are the most important to eat to fight mold? What foods must be avoided at all costs if you've been exposed to mold? What do you need to do for your heart if you've been exposed to mold? What can happen to your bones from mold exposure? How can you test a home for mold? What are the unseen/unhidden mold traps to avoid (and in our food supply too)?

It’s 4pm. You’re slumped in your chair, your eyelids are drooping, your head is sagging. You’re at work, and any mental activity feels like you’re wading through a swamp of molasses. Have you ever stopped to wonder why you’re so tired, or why some days you just don’t get anything done? For even the most successful people in the world, this is not a rare sensation. If you’ve ever felt a little more sluggish, more lethargic, more tired, and less productive than you want to be, you’re not alone. And the good news is, thanks to Dave Asprey’s inroads in the field of bio-hacking, you won’t have to feel that way for much longer.    When we spoke with the affable Dave Asprey, he was the font of all knowledge on productivity, e-commerce, and entrepreneurial innovation. A millionaire by the age of 26, Dave Asprey is a Silicon Valley investor and entrepreneur who invented the juggernaut of ecommerce. Oh, and he’s also a pioneer in self-directed transhumanism. Simply put, he’s a bio-hacker. He’s spent fifteen years and a quarter of a million dollars hacking his own biology. He's ‘upgraded’ his brain by more than 20 IQ points, lowered his biological age, and lost over a hundred pounds in weight with minimal exercise. His goal? To maximize the performance of the human body and mind, transcending traditional limits. And his results are startling to say the least.    Dave’s journey began when he was the first person to sell something over the internet. When asked as to whether he was one of the first, Dave corrects: “I don't think I was one of ‘the first', I think I was the first person to do ecommerce.” Quite a claim, but one that is supported. Dave modestly asserts this wasn’t out of sheer Steve Jobs-like genius or insight. He maintains that his experiments in the formation of ecommerce were out of necessity. As a student working at ice-cream retailer Baskin Robbins, Dave’s college increased the cost of his computer science tuition by 1500%. “I realized I couldn't afford to go to school so I had to do something”, he says. His answer? Start a T-shirt company. “I sold ‘caffeine’ T-shirts to twelve countries out of my dorm room,” he says. “There was no web browser, so this was on a part of the Internet called Usenet.” Asprey claims it was “just a different way of thinking about the whole problem of connecting with your community.” But if you think T-shirts is how this aspirational computer scientist cracked his first mil, you’d be mistaken. “I would have loved that if the T-shirts made me a million dollars,” he says. “They didn't come anywhere close to it. But they did pay for my school.” At the time, Asprey had an inkling that the Internet was going to be the next big thing. So he followed his gut and went to the global hub of all things technological: Silicon Valley.    In this interview you will learn: -Dave'slife as an entrepreneur and how he got started - how he became a millionaire by the time he was 26 - first person to sell something online -bio-hacking - how it all started -Lessons learnt, as an advisor to extremely successful companies and startups -Super charging your body, upgrading your brain -How do you manage your time so effectively -Biggest breakthrough in all Dave's testing and hacking, biggest bio hack wow moment -Craziest thing Dave has done in his experimentation -The bullet proof life -The diet, how to obtain the best mental performance -limitless sleeping, and increasing your creativity -how did bullet proof coffee come about -How to become a more powerful entrepreneur by upgrading your biology -smart drugs, and tools used -First steps of action entrepreneurs can take today to increase their productivity - top 3 tools / hacks   I Need Your Help!   If you haven’t already, I would love if you could be awesome and take a minute to leave a quick rating and review of the podcast on iTunes by clicking on the link below. Have you ever wondered why some people can’t walk into a moldy building and others don’t seem to notice? Dr. Shoemaker has the answers and gives you the facts. Intimidated by the topic? Look for the Quick Reference Guide to this podcast on the Bulletproof Executive blog for terms and definitions, so you can easily be an expert too.     Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker is a practicing physician in Maryland and the author of eight books and multiple published academic papers. His latest book Surviving Mold: Life in the Era of Dangerous Buildings is a guide through diagnosis and treatment, remediation and a return to health. He is an expert on mold, having “looked death in the face” from his own mold-related illness. He lectures throughout the US on chronic inflammatory illnesses that are caused by exposure to moldy buildings and mycotoxins.

LISTEN        This bag of meat we drive around sure is complicated.  We’ve had millions of years to figure it out, yet we still don’t know all the ins and outs of caring for this body we’ve got.  To make matters worse, it seems like every week there’s some new piece of medical or nutritional research that contradicts a long-held truth about what it is means to be healthy- Fat has gone from bad to good.  Many grains have gone from the cornerstone of a healthy diet, to something you should probably NEVER eat.  It almost seems like we have no idea what we're doing.    Of course, there’s a whole host of hugely important factors beyond nutrition like sleep, lifestyle, relationships, genetics, environment and roughly a million more things.  But, who has time to worry about all of that?  If there’s not a pill that fixes it, it’s probably too much trouble for the majority of us an our equally jiggly neighbors.     Dave Asprey himself was among the pilled-up, overweight, misguided masses for many years.  But, all that changed when he began hacking his body, treating it as if it were a computer.  He spent over 300 thousand dollars trying everything he could get his hands on and some of it really worked.  Dave began reporting his findings and recommendations in his now wildly successful blog.  He's since branched out further with his own line of human optimization products.    The ever-dashing Former MMA fighter, fitness expert and all around scary (but nice) dude, Adam Von Rothfelder also joined me in hosting this show.  If you’re in the Milwaukee area, go check out his amazing gym, Drench Fitness.      Dave really covers all the major bases in this talk- nutrition, sleep hacking, smart drugs, recent controversies and even his own personal experiences with smart drugs and learning disabilities. Dave Asprey, founder of The Bulletproof Executive, is a Silicon Valley investor and technology entrepreneur who spent 15 years and over $300,000 to hack his own biology. From private brain EEG facilities hidden in a Canadian forest to remote monasteries in Tibet, from Silicon Valley to the Andes, Dave used hacking techniques and tried everything on himself, obsessively focused on discovering the answers to this one persistent question: What are the simplest things you can do to be better at everything? What emerged is the idea of being “Bulletproof”, the state of high performance where you take control of and improve your biochemistry, your body, and your mind so they work in unison, helping you execute at levels far beyond what you’d expect, without burning out, getting sick, or allowing stress to control your decisions. It used to take a lifetime to radically rewire the human body and mind this way, if you were lucky enough to even know it was possible. Technology has changed the rules. Dave founded The Bulletproof Executive to make these breakthroughs – and the body and brain you deserve — easily available to you in your everyday life. Dave Asprey talks to me about how you can bulletproof your coffee with...his Bulletproof Coffee. There are molds and mycotoxins lurking in your coffee that may be giving you headaches and brain fog! I learned so much about coffee and how to improve my morning cup of joe.  Transcript Click here to view the full transcript for #36 Bulletproof Coffee with Dave Asprey. What is Bulletproof Coffee? The concept of Bulletproof Coffee is about using the highest quality coffee and adding brain enhancing fats to the coffee. Dave uses the lowest toxin, highest performance coffee there is (he knows, because he created it and tested it!), brews it, and then blends unsalted grass-fed butter into it, along with an extract of coconut oil that improves brain energy. Yes, butter. It makes for the creamiest, most satisfying cup of coffee you’ve ever had. It will keep you satisfied with level energy for 6 hours if you need it. And if you have it for breakfast, you will be programming your body to burn fat for energy all day long! Bulletproof Coffee Recipe Download the Bulletproof® Coffee recipe card Start with 1 cup (8 oz.) filtered water, just off the boil. Measure 2 1/2 heaping tablespoons freshly ground Bulletproof® Upgraded™ Coffee beans (approximately 2 rounded tablespoons per 6 oz. water) and brew strong black coffee using your favorite coffee brewing method. (Why this is important) Pour in 1 teaspoon Bulletproof® Upgraded™ Brain Octane™ or Bulletproof® Upgraded™ MCT Oil (build up to 1-2 tablespoons over several days). Add 1 tablespoon grass-fed, unsalted butter or ghee (build up to 2 tablespoons or much more over several days). Mix in a blender for at least 20 seconds until the drink is frothy and looks like a creamy latte without a film of oil on the surface. The 50th episode of Bulletproof Executive Radio introduces you to a brand new free iPhone app called Bulletproof(R) Food Sense and to the scientist who made it all happen.  Today’s interview is with long time biohacker and founder of Sweetwater Health™, Ronda Collier. Ronda is putting her more than 25 years of experience in high tech to work at SweetWater Health™, where they are looking at the signal coming from the human heart, and instead of seeing beats per minute or simple heart rate variability, seeing a huge pool of big data just waiting to be analyzed using Ronda’s crazy advanced math skills. There is a lot more information in your heartbeat than you’d think – stress levels are just the beginning. By applying mobile health monitoring and stress management with medical research techniques, SweetWater Health is creating some very advanced, very easy to use biohacking technologies. My experience as a bio hacker who used to weigh 300 pounds and really struggled with food cravings, is that every single person has a set of things in their environment or their food that makes them weak. SweetWater Health and Bulletproof Executive just partnered to create the free Bulletproof(R) Food Sense iPhone app to help you find your personal kryptonite by using the phone’s onboard sensors to detect your hidden food sensitivities.   You can also get an amazingly full-featured version of the app that works with a chest strap to measure and track your heart rate variability all day long and use complex algorithms to quantify your food, stress, and overall health.   Have a race, event, Ironman triathlon or anything else coming up? I'd reconsider blue cheese and other “moldy” foods in your build-up – here's a few: sour cream, buttermilk and sour milk; cured, pickled and smoked meats and fish; prepackaged meats, like lunch meats, salami, smoked fish and some sardines; pickles, olives, capers, salad dressing or ketchup; vinegar and soy sauce. I'm not saying always completely ‘em – but nuke ‘em in final few important weeks of performance – and that would include moldy hotel room coffee too.
