Think of yourself as water in a vast, living ocean. On the surface, waves crash and swirl—loud, visible expressions of energy. But beneath lies a rich, complex ecosystem: deep, mysterious, and profoundly powerful. This is the perfect metaphor for our spiritual existence—our seen and unseen selves—and the hidden strength within our personal healing journeys. In this episode, we invite you to come home to your body, your energy, and your sacred significance. We begin with a channeled message that speaks directly to those moments when you feel small or insignificant: "Do not ever discount the importance of your singular journey. This is the only way—one beautiful soul at a time choosing to look within—that we can move the entirety of the planet forward."For the sensitive souls and empaths who've spent years abandoning themselves in service to others, this conversation is a breath of fresh air. We explore what it means to give from overflow, not obligation—and how nervous system regulation becomes the gateway to that shift. Candace shares a personal breakthrough: learning how to rest deeply (not just numbing with scrolling or shows) and how that kind of true restoration radically expanded her energy and presence in her family life.Together, we explore accessible, real-world tools for nervous system regulation—weighted blankets, intentional sensory practices, breathwork, and more. These are practices rooted not just in spirituality, but in emotional education and science-backed healing. (You can learn more through our friends at the Center for Emotional Education.)Because when you feel safe in your body, your soul can fully land. Your intuition sharpens. Your heart opens. You stop performing, and you start embodying. You matter. Your healing ripples. And by tending to your inner waters, you help calm the entire ocean.✨ Join us on Patreon for deeper conversations, guided practices, and live connection. ✨ Or connect one-on-one with Candace or Rose for personalized support on your awakening path.Join the Awakening Community on Patreon!!! https://www.patreon.com/c/AwakeningSoulsPodcast ___ Let's Stay Connected!Email: Ourawakeningsouls@gmail.comWatch us on YouTube: Awakening SoulsWebsite: Awakenings SoulsInstagram: AwakeningSoulsPodcastSubmit a question or Share your stories with us at Ourawakeningsouls@gmail.com___ ✨Book A Reading✨

Welcome to "Parenting the Intensity!"In this episode of "Parenting the Intensity," host Anouk is joined by guest Carrie Conrad, founder of Beating Disasters, to explore the challenging topic of dealing with emotionally intense children who engage in physically dangerous behavior. The conversation sheds light on the need for parents to approach restraint from a place of empathy and support, rather than control or punishment, while emphasizing the importance of safety and nonviolent parenting. Anouk and Carrie discuss the struggle of finding helpful resources for parents dealing with intense behaviors and highlight the crucial role of natural consequences, preventative measures, and emotional regulation in parenting. Stay tuned for valuable insights, practical advice, and helpful resources in this thought-provoking discussion on resilient and mindful parenting.3 Key Takeaways:1️⃣ How and When to use Restraints: Approach restraint from a place of service and support, rather than punishment or control. We emphasized the importance of turning to resources like Dr. Althea Solter's book "Tears and Tantrums" for valuable insights into understanding restraint from a gentle, respectful, and dignified perspective.2️⃣ Prioritize empathy and support : while implementing natural consequences and preventative measures for challenging behaviors in children, especially those prone to emotionally intense reactions. It's important to adapt parenting advice and resources to fit your own child and family's reality.3️⃣ Importance of parent's emotional regulation: Recognize the significant impact of a parent's emotional regulation on their child's behavior and practice self-care to model the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing well-being. Teaching children about self-care and boundaries is crucial for their own emotional growth and development."Everybody wants control. But when it comes to physical safety and people or children being emotionally dysregulated or not in control of themselves, oddly enough, we give control to gain control."Connect with Carrie:Website: Www.beatingdisaster.comFacebook: Www.facebook.com/BeatingDisasterResources mentioned:Book tears and tantrum from Aletha Solter, Ph.D. founder and firector of The Aware Parenting Institute: https://www.amazon.ca/Tears-Tantrums-What-Babies-Children/dp/0961307366Daniel the Tigger for emotional regulation: https://pbskids.org/daniel/Make sure to subscribe to our podcast for future episodes and leave a rating and review, that helps us get in front of more parents. The COVID-19 pandemic caused many of us to feel that we had lost more than lives of friends and loved ones - we lost opportunities for closure, lost productivity, lost time. This has caused a tsunami of grief to wash over the world. 2023 is the first post-pandemic year that has felt anywhere close to "normal," but how are we expected to act? Do we suppress our feelings and move on, as our western culture dictates, or do we recognize that processing such deep and profound grief is, well, messy? In this episode, Anahata, chats with Nathan M. McTague, co-founder of the Center for Emotional Education, about the emotional and neurological effects of grief. Nathan also is working through the grieving process in the wake of a brother's death. Nathan will discuss how, with an intention to bring love, compassion and empathy to the self, we can allow ourselves to work with our thoughts and honor our grief. https://youtu.be/xo0ZefnVBnc

What sinks us most often is our failure to navigate relationships, the emotional aspects of life, and yet we continue to neglect and diminish the need for an emotional education." In this episode I try something different. It's not quite a book review, nor is it just a summary. I share plenty of quotes and passages from the book with the intention to provoke thought and stimulate discussion. This is one of the best books I've read on personal development, growth, emotional awareness and generally understanding yourself and how you relate. Reflecting on it while recording this podcast I was reminded just how important this education is right now. And how much this has positively impacted my life at a time when I really need the support and perspective such fundamental truths provide. I read at least a book a week on these topics and have done for 20 years, and if I was to recommend one book to read, it's this. I take notes in all books I read and for this one, every second line was highlighted, some were double underlined with brackets, an asterisk and dog eared pages. In this podcast I work though the five sections of the book and share the passages that resonated for me and I also share why they resonated, we get personal on this one. Below are the sections and times at which I discuss certain topics if you want to skip ahead – it's a long one but I reckon it's worth a couple of hours of your time. Here's a link to  Alain de Botton's website and a link to  The School of Life. The School of Life YouTube channel has plenty of short videos explaining many of these topics - it's brilliant, check it out. While the two may go together, energetic and emotional sensitivity are a quality, either innate or developed, that allows us to sense that which is subtle and nuanced.  Reactivity, on the other hand, is often about unresolved past emotions and sometimes a need for an upgrade in skills for relating to other people.  The question of whether someone is “too sensitive” whether it arises as an internal conversation or based on a reflection from another person can be complicated to unpack.  The podcast just scratches the surface, but it can be a starting place for evaluating the validity of the feedback and helping you know what to do about it.  For example, if you’re dealing with a person who is messy and harsh with others and not interested in being responsible for the impact of their behavior on others, they may use “too sensitive” in an effort to shut down any efforts to address their behavior.  This is a different case than a healthy person earnestly trying to let you know that your reactivity makes it hard to sustain relationship. This podcast will give you a starting place to begin looking at the questions, “Is it me?” “Is it them?” “Or is it both?”  And, it will give you a map for how to start to get clear enough to respond effectively in any of those cases. Carli and Laura speak with Claudia Sheftel-Luiz, M.Ed, PsyaD. Topics of discussion include Dr. Luiz's journey with psychoanalysis, working with the awful and the disgusting, and the power of feminine energy in and outside of therapy. Dr. Claudia Sheftel-Luiz, Ed.M, Harvard University (1982), PsyaD, Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis (1997), has been in private practice and serving as a consultant to for-profit and non-profit corporations for over 40 years. A frequent contributor to news and radio shows, Dr. Luiz is the first-place winner of the 2006 Phyllis W. Meadow Award for Excellence in Psychoanalytic Writing (published in Modern Psychoanalysis) and first place winner of the 2008 Reader's Digest Best Writer's Website Award. Dr. Luiz is the author of a new introductory textbook in psychoanalysis, written as a set of stories about treatment, called: “The Making of a Psychoanalyst: Studies in Emotional Education” (2018 Routledge Press). The book illuminates the innovations to theory and clinical method that have revolutionized psychoanalysis. New Books in Psychoanalysis called the book “a tour de force poised to create a shift in the cultural consciousness” and the Journal of Modern Psychoanalysis called it: “arguably the best lay book written about Modern Psychoanalysis.” Dr. Luiz is on the faculty of the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, New Jersey, and has offices in New York City and Tarrytown, NY. She lives with her husband John Luiz, a writer, with whom she shares two college-age daughters. Being away from school and returning to an environment that has changed can be anxiety-provoking. Here are some ways you can support your child: 1) From a mental health standpoint, what is the best way to prepare students to come back to school? a) Be available b) Listen c) Provide support- not necessarily answers; Sometimes we can’t solve all our children’s problems, but they don’t always need solutions – just to feel understood and supported. 2) What advice can you give to our parents that have kids dealing with anxiety about returning to school? (it’s not just our kids) a) Recognize the difference between what we can control and what we cannot b) Practice mindfulness c) Practice gratitude; explore the positives (Explore the positives. Even if they are worried about returning to school, there may be some things they are looking forward to. It can be helpful to chat through these together if they seem open to this); shifting mindsets 3) Once students are back in the classrooms or are attending virtually, what can parents do to help foster their student's success? a) Consistency of schedule- Routines are safe and familiar which can help reduce anxiety. b) Again, being a good listener and support; Be available. It is incredibly important to remember that none of us have the solid answers we are all desiring at this point. Our board members, administration, teachers, staff, parents, students, government… everyone. The most important aspect of getting through this pandemic is trying to walk through it together with grace. Remembering that we are all being challenged at our own levels can keep anxiety, anger, and frustration to a minimum. And, THAT is what helps us from a mental capacity. If you notice your student having difficulties adjusting, please reach out. We all need help during difficult times.

Natalie Christensen and Nathan M McTague are founders of the Center for Emotional Education, and leaders of what they call "the emotional revolution". Their clients are powerful women, femme, and nonbinary leaders from all over the world who have been outrageously successful, but find themselves still struggling in a personal way that is truly painful, (and because of who they are) maybe even embarrassing. The struggle shows up in their health, their relationships, and their businesses, but the common denominators are often: a level of emotional overwhelm, a repetition of confusing and unhelpful patterns, and a lack of meaningful support. Natalie and Nathan have dedicated the last 13 years to empowering their clients -- through workshops, webinars, classes, and comprehensive coaching programs -- to unlock the secrets of emotional sovereignty. They've had such success catapulting their clients into lives where they get their needs met, cultivate deeper connections, and enjoy more fulfillment, that they've now launched their own Emotional Sovereignty School. The eight stories in The Making of A Psychoanalyst: Studies in Emotional Education (Routledge, 2018) are composites of clinical material highlighting familiar emotional conflicts found in treatment. Dr. Claudia Luiz invites the reader into session switch her as she demonstrates “how two human beings interact with each other to effect profound change.” Chapters do not start with reviews of theory and literature. They begin with patients. We are confronted with who they are, what they want, and their emotional impact on Dr. Luiz. We feel the immediacy of the patient’s needs and the pressures to fix something. We encounter Dr. Luiz, not as theorist looking for strategies, but as a clinician looking for “what might be required of her as a practitioner.” The dialogue between Dr Luiz and her patients is punctuated by endnotes where she shares the theories integrated into the chapter. Placing theories at the end of the chapter is an effective way of teaching because we’ve had the experience of being with the case as it unfolds. Working from a modern psychoanalytic approach Dr. Luiz Believes “the function of interpretation with its corollary penchant for insight is completely antiquated.” The job of the modern psychoanalyst is“to prepare our patients’ minds for self-discovery.” Dr. Luiz is the first-place winner of the 2006 Phyllis W. Meadow Award for Excellence in Psychoanalytic Writing (published in the journal Modern Psychoanalysis) and first place winner of the 2008 Reader’s Digest Best Writer’s Website Award. Lily and Megan from IDER are real shooting stars. Their friendship is not only the core of their musical collaboration, but also the musical inspiration for many songs they wrote. What's coning their electronic pop music songs are their incredible, synchronised and harmonising voices and the stories they tell. With songs like 'Body Love' IDER is empowering women around the globe. Among others this song is part of their debut album 'Emotional Education' which got released on 19 July. We met the two ladies during Melt Festival 2019 which we attended together with Desperados. As this festival is always a great party and Desperados is where the best parties are, we also talked about whats makes a good party in their opinion and how they partied, when they were studying together. In this interview we are talking about: - The musical journey of their debut album Emotional Education - How they brought themselves into the mood of producing songs that are really getting to the core - Their opinion about female empowerment - Their gig at Melt Festival - The most legendary festival or party they attended so far - If they were a fan of student parties when they were studying together - Their favourite spots in their hometown London - How the next weeks after releasing the album look like Transparency: in friendly cooperation with Desperados.
