Today's episode is something a little different. I sat down with the amazing Ash from Rainbow Sky Creations for a raw and honest chat, and this time I found myself on the other side of the microphone. It felt a bit strange being the one answering the questions, but Ash has a way of making you feel safe enough to tell the truth about your work, your why, and the messy bits in between. We talked about teaching, life, purpose, and what it means to try and make a difference in this wild and wonderful profession. It's a conversation filled with heart, a few laughs, and some vulnerable moments that I'm really proud to share. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed being part of it.

Feeling stretched thin by the pressure to "do it all" online? In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain on what the creator landscape really feels like in 2025. I'm sitting down with world-renowned dietitian and mega-creator Abbey Sharp, who's built a multi-platform empire over 14 years… and is finally saying the quiet part out loud: the hustle, the burnout, the imposter syndrome, the pressure to keep performing. From navigating criticism to building multiple income streams to launching a supplement company with integrity, Abbey is as transparent as it gets and her honesty in this conversation is a breath of fresh air for any entrepreneur who's ever questioned whether they can keep up. Tune in to hear: What it actually takes to stay relevant in a changing media landscape (and why so many early creators disappeared) The emotional and mental cost of content creation and how Abbey is redefining her 2026 goals after burnout and a cancer diagnosis The truth about monetization: what's still working, what's dead, and what she'd never recommend starting in 2025 The supplement industry secrets she learned building her brand and why transparency matters more than ever How to navigate criticism, protect your mental health, and build a business that feels sustainable The one thing she wishes more dietitians understood about charging for their expertise The behind-the-scenes realities of launching books, running teams, and staying human while leading a massive online brand Connect with Abbey: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abbeyskitchen YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKLz-9xkpPNjK26PqbjHn7Q TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@abbeyskitchen?lang=en Website: https://www.abbeyskitchen.com/ Pre-order your copy of Abbey's newest book: https://www.abbeyskitchen.com/hunger-crushing-combo/ Instagram: @dietitiandeanna and @online.entrepreneur.academy Want my help and strategies to have $30, $50 or $100K launches of your online program? In this powerful and deeply honest conversation, Jess Connolly—author, podcaster, and speaker—invites us into a season of her life marked by heartbreak and uncertainty. In this conversation, Dr. K sits down with creator JasonTheWeen to talk about the pressure of growing up, managing online relationships, and the complicated emotions that come with watching your parents get older. What starts as a light catch-up quickly turns into a deeper look at loneliness, responsibility, and the fear of losing the people you love. Jason opens up about feeling torn between his own life and his parents' wishes, especially his dad's plan to eventually return to Vietnam. Dr. K helps him explore the difference between what he feels he owes his parents and what he actually wants, while also unpacking how cultural expectations and emotional suppression shape the relationship. They also discuss the challenges of balancing streaming with real life, how hard it is to communicate honest feelings with family, and why unspoken emotions often turn into sadness or anger. It's a heartfelt and very human conversation about trying to grow while holding onto the people who matter. The Pharisees attempted to come up with ways to make oaths that they could break. They would not swear by the name of the Lord, because failure to keep the oath would bring judgment. They decided that they could swear by everything else and be okay if they broke the oath. Jesus desires His followers to be so trustworthy that their speech would always be honest.

Many firms say they have a Law Firm Strategy, but few actually do. In this episode, Chris Batz breaks down what true strategy looks like inside corporate law firms and why clarity must come before growth. He introduces his framework for effective law firm strategy, the "three P's": positioning, perception, and competition. He explains how each reveals the gap between where a firm stands today and where it aims to be. From understanding client perception to benchmarking against competitors, he outlines how to replace internal optimism with market reality and strategic focus. Chris also tackles the forces reshaping the legal marketplace—AI, private equity, and shifting client expectations—and how they demand a more agile, evidence-based approach to law firm strategy. Rather than chasing growth for its own sake, Chris argues that firms must make disciplined trade-offs, align behavior with purpose, and revisit their strategy regularly to stay relevant. This episode challenges leaders to ask: when was the last time your law firm strategy reflected the market you're actually competing in? Are you struggling with learning how to cope as a special needs parent when alcohol has been your go-to for years? Amy once felt the same way—thinking wine was the only way to take the edge off. But during a 30-day alcohol experiment, she uncovered something surprising: her drinking had less to do with parenting challenges and more to do with old coping patterns she'd carried for years. In this Where Are They Now chat with Coach Hayley, Amy opens up about how going alcohol-free has helped her show up differently as a mom, let go of micromanaging, and even lean back into supporting the very community she once wanted to escape. In this episode, Amy and Hayley catch up on: How Amy's "sneaky" relationship with alcohol masked deeper coping patterns Why The Alcohol Experiment was just the beginning of her real transformation How to cope as a special needs parent by addressing root causes, not just symptoms Why her drinking habits had nothing to do with special needs parenting challenges Learning to feel emotions instead of shoving them down with alcohol and other substances Shifting from anxiety-driven micromanagement to mindful, empowered parenting Applying the same "why" questions to break patterns with sugar, caffeine, and social media Professionally reinvesting in supporting individuals with diagnoses after her transformation And more… Episode links: Start Your Alcohol Experiment - www.alcoholexperiment.com Related Episodes: Special Needs and Drinking - Amy's Naked Life -E313 - https://thisnakedmind.com/ep-313-naked-life-story-amy-m/ From Isolation to Connection: Finding Your Way Alcohol-Free - Alcohol Freedom Coaching - E825 - https://thisnakedmind.com/feeling-lost-after-quitting-drinking-e825/ Sharing Your Personal Journey with Alcohol: A Guide to Honest Conversations and Healing Connections - Reader's Question - E620 - https://thisnakedmind.com/ep-618-readers-question-annie-graces-tips-for-dealing-with-family-members-who-continue-to-drink-2/ Ready to take the next step on your journey? You already know we're open books around here, so when we sat down to record an episode of things you might not know about us, we quickly realized… this was harder than it sounded! We share so much on this podcast, but we did manage to find a few fun and unexpected things that even our most loyal listeners may not have heard before.Amy kicks things off by sharing one about Abby—let's just say Abby sometimes thinks the rules don't apply to her. If she doesn't agree with a rule, she's not likely to follow it. Meanwhile, Amy's perspective on rules might surprise you. We also dig into how each of us handles stress and uncertainty. Amy's not particularly attached to things and has a grounded belief that unless something bad happens to someone she loves, everything will be okay. Abby, on the other hand, tends to think in terms of the worst case scenario—if something goes wrong, her first thought is usually, “How much work is this going to cause me?”We also compare our spending habits. When you think of a “big purchase,” what amount comes to mind? Amy shares her number—and it might not be what you expect. While Amy is more cautious about bigger buys, she is also the queen of small, repeated purchases. Whereas Abby, even if she's hungry, she'll wait until she's home to eat what's already there. You'll also hear why Abby is easily influenced, how Amy falls down the doom-scrolling rabbit hole, and which one of us prefers multitasking while watching TV versus doing things in total silence. And finally, Amy shares what she means when she says she has a calling to be a wild and free animal. This one's lighthearted, real, and full of those behind-the-scenes stories that make us who we are. Tune in for laughter, a few surprises, and maybe a deeper understanding of why we each do the things we do.LINKS AND RESOURCES:BETTERHELP: 10% off first month at: http://betterhelp.com/herselfLMNT: Free Sample Pack with purchase: drinkLMNT.com/HERSELF Let's connect!HERSELF INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/herselfpodcastMEET AMY: http://instagram.com/ameskieferMEET ABBY: http://instagram.com/abbyrosegreenThis episode was brought to you by the Pivot Ball Change Network.
In this episode, two parent-advocates - each with a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - share how ASD shapes communication, safety, and trust, and why lived experience should guide training for police, firefighters, EMTs, and courts. Together with Cheryl Stehle and Jamiel Owens, we explore misread behaviors, practical de-escalation, family preparation, and the need for policy that reduces harm. When neurodivergent people interact with first responders a single misunderstanding can turn a routine interaction into a crisis. We sit down with two parents whose lived experience with ASD reshaped how they see safety, communication, and trust—and how first responders can, too. Their personal stories and experiences move from early fear about ASD and confusing diagnoses to purposeful advocacy that prioritizes dignity and practical skills. We unpack what ASD really means in day-to-day life—why one person's eye contact challenges or stimming are not defiance, and how processing time, clear language, or a written prompt can lower the temperature fast. Jamiel shares how fatherhood and his role at the Center for Autism Research inform an approach that treats difference as a lens, not a deficit. Cheryl explains how AUTT training equips police, firefighters, EMTs, and juvenile probation with field-ready habits: pause to observe, ask neutral questions about communication needs, and look for tools like blue envelopes, ID cards, or a support contact. The message is simple and actionable: just ask, then adjust. We also talk about preparation within the family especially when domestic violence is present. An autism go-bag with headphones, comfort items, and a communication device can restore predictability during stressful moves or shelter entry. We discuss emergency preparedness practices for people living with ASD such as visiting police stations, seeing emergency response gear up close, and rehearsing traffic-stop steps that can prevent sensory shock and build confidence. Finally, we push for systems change: mandate recurring, lived-experience-led autism training across public safety platforms; create policy that normalizes optional license notations and standardized info kits; and fund community-curated resource hubs that actually meet families where they are.If this conversation resonates, share it with a caregiver, a first responder, or a policymaker who can put it to work.
You guys sent in some deep questions, and we're diving into all of it: navigating confusing parts of Church history, how to handle doubts when faith feels shaky, frustrations with garments, and finding your spark again in marriage. Traditional leadership models tend to choose between kindness and clarity. Zen teacher and executive coach Marc Lesser argues that's a false dichotomy. In this episode, Sarah sits down with Marc to unpack the concept of compassionate accountability — or in Marc's preferred language, alignment with caring. It's the core of modern Entrepreneurship and Business leadership: setting clear expectations while staying deeply connected to the humans you work with. Instead of defaulting to micromanagement or passivity, leaders can choose high standards and high trust at the same time, the key to building high performing teams without sacrificing wellbeing. Marc shares why psychological safety isn't just a cultural ideal, it's a metric that correlates directly with business performance. Referencing Google's Project Aristotle, he explains how teams perform better when leaders normalize mistakes, invite real feedback, and resist the urge to appear infallible. Together, they open up about raising their three boys and reflect on how their approach to parenting has evolved over the years. They discuss teaching their sons critical thinking in the digital age, the importance of leading by example, and how they stay intentional about what they allow into their home. This week on The Follow Up, Bill, Jeff, and Jack go deeper into The Gospel of John chapter 3—looking at Nicodemus, what it really means to be “born again,” and why John the Baptist's words “He must increase, I must decrease” are still radically countercultural. They explore the difference between rule-keeping and true transformation, talk through how faith grows over a lifetime, and share some behind-the-scenes insight into how pastors choose sermon illustrations that make Scripture stick.

Dr. K sits down with Sadhguru for a rare meeting between science and spirituality to explore the roots of the modern mental-health crisis. Together they discuss how rapid sociological change, poor nutrition, and disconnection from nature are weakening our “human software,” and why inner engineering like learning to manage our chemistry and consciousness may be the antidote. Sadhguru challenges the Western split between “mind” and “body,” explaining how thought, emotion, and physiology form one system. He argues that most psychological suffering stems from compulsiveness, not illness—when the mind runs without conscious control. Dr. K probes how that idea fits clinical psychiatry, sparking a thoughtful exchange on chemistry, choice, and the limits of scientific frameworks. They move from philosophy into practice: what it means to take charge of your inner experience, how attachment and ego (“ahankara”) shape identity, and why love, relationships, and even stress are reflections of how well we manage our internal state. The episode closes with reflections on modern dating, dopamine vs oxytocin, and practical tools for returning to conscious, intentional living. Topics include: Why society's pace and environment are breaking our mental “software” The chemical basis of emotion, and learning to manage your inner factory Consciousness vs compulsiveness: the true axis of mental health The body as mind - why nutrition, breath, and movement matter Ahankara (ego) and the illusion of self-identity Suffering, stress, and the art of engineering your interiority Dr. K's reflections on dopamine addiction, relationships, and meaning This conversation bridges psychiatry and yogic science, offering both insight and practical philosophy for anyone seeking peace in an overstimulated world. Drew Hart joined me to dig into questions from our God of Justice class about his lecture on the black church and American experience. We covered a lot of ground—from Drew's own journey as a preacher's kid who found his tribe in the prophetic tradition of the black church and Anabaptism, to why James Cone's confrontational theology is actually necessary for real liberation (not just comfortable reconciliation). Drew pushed back hard on white progressive Christianity that performs solidarity without changing oppressive structures, explaining why gradualism is always justice denied. We talked about enslaved people adapting (not just adopting) Christianity into something radically different from what slaveowners preached, the messy reality of violence and peacemaking when your back's against the wall, and what a reparations God actually means—hint: it's about healing, not just debt calculation. If you want theology that takes the crucified Jesus seriously, rather than abstracting him into universal principles that leave power structures intact, this conversation delivers. Drew G. I. Hart is a public theologian and professor of theology at Messiah University. He has ten years of pastoral ministry experience and is the recipient of multiple awards for peacemaking. Hart attained his MDiv with an urban concentration from Missio Seminary and his PhD in theology and ethics from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences, campuses, and churches across the United States and Canada. His first book, Trouble I've Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism, utilizes personal and everyday stories, theological ethics, and anti-racism frameworks to transform the church's understanding and witness. Hart lives with his wife, Renee, and their three sons in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In this episode of Grit Meets Growth, we dive into the power of open dialog—not the surface-level kind that stays safe, but the kind that creates space for honest reflection, real accountability, and genuine connection. We explore how conversation becomes a tool for grit and resilience, challenging us to admit when we're struggling, to call each other out when excuses creep in, and to carry one another's burdens when life gets heavy. From the everyday encounters that remind us there are still good people in the world, to the brotherhood being built inside Built for More, this conversation is about taking the mask off, leaning into feedback, and growing together through meaningful, face-to-face dialog.5 key insights from this episode: Open dialog fuels grit and resilience Real conversation is not just about sharing opinions—it's about having the courage to admit struggles, the humility to ask for help, and the strength to listen to feedback. That kind of dialog builds resilience and helps us grow through discomfort.Accountability requires speaking goals out loud Books and self-help resources can provide valuable insights, but without accountability, most lessons fade away. When goals are spoken out loud in a trusted group, others rally around them, creating support and pressure that makes growth stick.Connection and trust are built face-to-face In a world dominated by algorithms and social media echo chambers, true trust and connection come from human interaction. Sitting in a room together, removing the masks, and engaging in real dialog creates a kind of support technology can't replace.Feedback is fuel for growth Feedback isn't an attack—it's a seed. When we receive it with humility, nurture it, and put it into action, it becomes the catalyst for transformation. Defensive walls only block the growth that comes from honest reflection and outside perspective.Brotherhood creates lasting change Inside Built for More, men are experiencing transformation because they're no longer carrying their roles and struggles alone. Sharing openly with a trusted group shifts how they show up—in their families, their work, and their personal lives. Community accelerates change. One Truth:Growth doesn't happen in silence—it happens when you're willing to take off the mask, speak honestly, and let others hold you accountable.

Becoming a mother transforms everything – your body, your relationships, your identity – but most parenting books barely scratch the surface of this seismic shift. Licensed therapist Rachel Elmore discovered this gap firsthand when she experienced postpartum depression after her first child's birth, despite her professional expertise. When established treatment resources failed her, Rachel created what became the foundation for her groundbreaking book "A Mom is Born" – the first postpartum resource written from both clinical and Christian perspectives by someone who lived through it. This conversation explores the comprehensive New Mom Wellness Plan that has helped thousands of women navigate early motherhood with grace and support.Rachel unpacks the practical wisdom behind creating a "postpartum pack" . Everything from handling meal trains and managing household responsibilities to navigating the significant hormonal shifts that occur even when weaning from breastfeeding. For those supporting new mothers, Rachel offers insight into creating truly welcoming spaces that accommodate both mother and baby needs.
