“Addiction is an equal opportunity destroyer,” said Kim Beasley, reflecting on the last decade of her life as she watched her 26-year-old daughter, Brianna, spiral in and out of sobriety from drugs addiction. Brianna lost her battle with addiction in July of 2024, when she overdosed in a stranger's home in San Antonio. Nearly a year after Brianna's death, the Beasleys continue balancing their hope for justice — prosecution of an individual connected to her death — with looking to the future with hope. This is Part 1 of a two-part story. “She was supposed to be eulogizing me,” Kim Beasley told friends and family at the celebration of life ceremony for her 26-year-old daughter, Brianna Beasley. Brianna died July 22, the result of an accidental overdose following a long battle with addiction. Brianna was born Aug. 1, 1997, to Donnie and Kim Beasley of Poth. Just 16 years later, Brianna would take a pill that would lead her through the depths of addiction, and ultimately cost her her life. It was quite an emotional day when I interviewed this week’s guest, the former rugby international turned best-selling author, Peter FitzSimons. Because it was the day after my father died. I’ve written about my Dad, Desmond Zwar, a lot on social media. He was the author of 20 non fiction books, including The Loneliest Man In the World about Rudolf Hess, In Search of Sir Keith Murdoch, This Wonderful World of Golf, where he went on the golf tour with Peter Thomson, and the runaway best seller, Golf: The Dictionary with illustrations by the great Jeff Hook. Dad, an avid reader, was in a nursing home towards the end of his life, so I ran his Kindle account. Whenever he wanted to read another book, I would buy it and sync it into his Kindle. And the last book I bought Dad, and the last book he read, was Peter FitzSimon’s biography of Ned Kelly. So it was strangely appropriate that the day after Dad’s passing, I was interviewing Peter. I didn’t tell him the situation. I didn’t want to make him feel weird. But the coincidence was not lost on me.Some would know Peter from his seven rugby tests with the Wallabies as a lock forward from 1989 to 1990. Others would know him from his columns in the Sydney Morning Herald. But most would have read, or at least threatened to read, one of his 27 books – many of which have become best sellers. There have been the rugby books, which we’ll talk about later, joke books, a book on Nietzsche, historical biographies on Nancy Wake, Kim Beasley, Douglas Mawson, Kingsford Smith, Breaker Morant, and James Cook, and then there have been the books on big subjects like Gallipoli, Kokoda, the Batavia and the Eureka Stockade. And now he’s written The Opera House :The extraordinary story of the building that symbolises Australia. In this interview, we get into the guts of how Peter came to be a writer, the word he most overuses in his books, and how he gave up the grog and managed to fit even more into his day. #52 - Introverts unite! Then retreat into a quiet room. Alone. I really like today’s topic. It is all about introverts! We are going to talk about the special strengths that introverts often possess and how to use those strengths to your advantage both personally and in business, especially online. Online businesses offer a unique opportunity for introverts to really thrive. I am speaking with Kim Beasley, the "introverted entrepreneur whisperer". She has a whole coaching practice geared toward helping this personality type succeed and thrive in the online business world. This topic really hits home for me. I am an introvert!I used to think I was just shy, insecure, and awkward, but that was only because I didn’t know I could leverage my personality in my own way and on my own terms. Kim is going to tell us how to do that. My desire for this episode is to awaken the introvert, define this personality if needed, and empower this person. We have superpowers! I hope to help you discover them. You can find all the links and more in the show notes:howtolife.com/052

The focus of this show is to help introverts build your business brand online. A favorite quote of this show is Introverts Unite. Inspiring you with this quote so it can encourage you to be successful at building your business brand online. For this podcast episode, Dr. Laura Jaget shares tips to help you learn how to become free from stress and overwhelm as you learn to use your voice on their own terms. About our guest, Dr. Laura Jaget:Dr. Laura Jaget (Dr. L.J. for short), and in her “adult” life so far, she has been a nationally ranked NCAA Division I tennis player, a chiropractor, a business owner, a wife, a mother of four amazing, accomplished children, a healer, a teacher, dabbled in boxing, marksmanship, ballroom dancing, and most recently, she has been playing senior pro pickleball. Wow, that sounds pretty impressive, especially since in her mind she felt like she didn't know anything while she was doing all this stuff. And she believes she didn't. The adult world didn't care about her degrees or accolades. It just expected her to know how to file her taxes, iron clothes, feed her family, change a diaper, reconcile her bank account, decide between a 36, 48 or 60 month lease, pump her own gas, know what deductible to choose, and be a confident, competent asset to potential employers, to her family, and most importantly to herself. But somehow she learned, and because she is a doctor and a mother, she fixed, taught, and encouraged many others – A LOT! She created the YouTube channel, How To Life – Mominars because she got tired of repeating the same instruction over and over again when she was teaching her own children - and many of their friends- basic life skills. How To Life Mominars Answer Your QuestionsThe term HOW TO LIFE came about because her kids used to come to her and say “Hey, Mom, I have a How To Life question” whenever they needed to know how to do something, or work something. And she would joke that she would hold a MOMINAR about the topic, and all were welcome so that she would only have to explain, whatever it was, once. What is a MOMINAR? This is simply a seminar given by a Mom. It is a term she uses to describe a brief tutorial about any topic where she shows how to do basic life tasks as simply as possible. Hi and welcome to another episode of the Creative Introvert Entrepreneur Podcast, which is hosted by Kim Beasley, an Introvert Entrepreneur Coach. The focus of this show is to help introverts build their business brand online. A favorite quote of this show is Introverts Unite. Inspiring you with this quote so it can encourage you to be successful at building your business brand online. For this podcast episode, Fifi Mason shares tips that will help you to market your business online so you can connect with your target buyers. About FifiFifi Mason inspires introvert entrepreneurs to build a personal brand business that's in flow with their energy and personality. As host of The Quietly Successful Summit 2020, she helped over 700 introvert entrepreneurs alongside introverted industry experts such as Mark Schaefer, Matthew Pollard and Clare Josa. But there was a time when just the thought of hosting a summit or posting about herself on social media was terrifying. When she started as a freelance Brand and Web Designer, she knew the benefits of building a personal brand and putting herself out there. But after trying all the conventional 'out-there' marketing tactics to be seen and heard, she still struggled to do it consistently. The problem? She was scared to be herself, and it showed. Fifi hadn't figured out her values, discovered her purpose, or found her voice. So she set out to learn everything she could to build her personal brand and attract clients in a way that is authentic to her, an introvert. Everything she learned she put into practice, and she now feels more focused, prepared and less afraid to show up. And her mission has become inspiring to other introvert business owners to find their own way. She’s a former marketer, journalist, and social media manager devoted to helping entrepreneurs feel empowered and find incredible growth in their businesses. You can find Part 1 to this interview here: https://nolistmarketing.com/bc539Her business, Katrina Widener Coaching, exists to be a supportive, inspirational resource for entrepreneurs to feel empowered and find growth in their businesses. I get to spend my days working with the most amazing people — encouraging, supporting, and motivating them to find the sweet spot in their businesses (and their lives). Whether it’s watching a client tell me why they’re uniquely qualified in their profession, working together to create copy that sells, or seeing their eyes light up when they feel inspired to tackle a problem, my job is to be your sounding board, biggest fan, and kick-in-the-pants to get you where you want to go.PMB Nugget from Katrina during this Podcast:The number one lesson I learned was to stop trying to control the world around you, and focus on only controlling yourself. Hi, my name is Kim Beasley and I’m the host of Pamper My Business Podcast. Pamper My Business or PMB for short, focuses on providing you with solutions, tools, and tips that will help you gain the freedom to easily brand your business online. For this Introductory Podcast, I would like to start with a few stats about branding.1. Did you know that Google is responsible for 94% of total organic traffic? (Web Presence Solutions, 2017, Source: https://www.hubspot.com/marketing-statistics). Organic traffic is completely free and when someone is searching via a search engine for specific keywords, then they find you.2. Have you heard that generating traffic and leads (63%) is one of the top marketing challenges which is followed by proving the ROI of marketing activities (40%)? (According to the State of Inbound)3. Also, 55% of marketers say blog content creation is their top inbound marketing priority. (HubSpot, 2018) (Source: https://www.hubspot.com/marketing-statistics)4. I love this one - that YouTube was the top content distribution channel that businesses want to add to their marketing in the coming year with 48% of the market share, followed by Facebook video at 39%.With all of these stats in mind, you may ask, what does this mean for me? Good question! With the first PMB Nugget, it means that optimizing your content on your website can help build your brand so that you can be found via search engines. Then with the next PMB Nugget, it’s important to generate website traffic (people coming to your website) and leads (growing your email list) so that you can be seen and sell to your target customers. As you do this, you can measure your ROI to see if your efforts are paying off.Another PMB Nugget, BLOGGING! If you aren’t blogging on your website or on a similar website like Medium.com then you are missing out on a vital way to share your knowledge, be seen, and grow your customer base. Blogging allows you to create content that reflects your professional knowledge. At the same time teaching your readers. My final PMB Nugget is that video marketing is a diamond in the rough that all entrepreneurs need to add into their marketing plan. It’s a way of adding a fine-tune polish to your marketing efforts. Now that I’ve shared a few PMB Nuggets, let me tell you a little bit about myself.Since 2004, I’ve been developing highly customized WordPress websites and managing social media for corporations and entrepreneurs. Now, I’m taking the experience I’ve gained and sharing my knowledge with you. I truly believe in paying it forward.Quick question, do you remember the movie BIG that starred Tom Hanks? Think about the scene where he played the big piano in the toy store. He started playing it all by himself. Then he was joined by Robert Loggia who was right by his side as they played Chopsticks together. This brings to mind that even though you may have started branding your business online all alone, we want to join you on your branding journey so that you're not alone anymore. You have us, the Pamper My Business team here to assist you.We assist you by providing free and paid online training that will lead you on a journey of discovery about branding your business online.Watch for future podcast episodes where we will be interviewing industry professionals who will share their own story about branding their businesses and how they grew it.Once again I’m Kim Beasley, your host for Pamper My Business Podcast.
There is a massive uproar about Cottesloe getting rid of the pylon… We aren't sure it's such a big deal?Sneaky clients and customers… A cashier was stealing money from customers in a really tricky way… Michelle was selling her car and a guy offered her less money and a stolen iPhone X. Trish used to work at the TAB and a guy kept giving her fake coins. Nicole did a lady's hair at the salon and she bailed without paying. Brendon told us about a credit card scam. The Premier Mark McGowan joined the guys this morning to talk about the direct flight from Perth to London! Mark McGowan spoke in-flight movies and the new trend of selfies with quokka's and spoke about Kim Beasley and started to organise their play date in Rockingham. The ban of plastic bags is almost in!You didn't know what it was? Prince Charles freaked out because he saw glad wrap over his food… Masto thought Dua Lipa was a restaurant. Phil didn't realise his truck had auto-start, Jasmine had no idea a sultana was a grape and Nigel didn't know he had to swab his mouth for a drug test, instead he peed on it.
