Prophecy in the Spotlight with Dan Goodwin Danger in the Last Days: 2 Timothy 3 and Why Self-Love Is the Root of Perilous Times Dan Goodwin and Dr. Charles Hiltibidal open 2 Timothy chapter 3 to argue that the perilous times Paul warned about describe the condition of the church rather than the world, walking through the self-love, compromise, and broken families they see marking Christianity today. Opening: Perilous Times Ahead Dan Goodwin opens Prophecy in the Spotlight alone, telling viewers the broadcast is titled "Danger in the Last Days" and grounding it in 2 Timothy chapter 3. He reads verse 1, "this know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come," and stresses to viewers that Paul is not describing some distant future but conditions Goodwin believes are already here. He explains that "perilous" comes from "peril," meaning danger, and reads ahead to verse 2, where Paul writes that men "shall be lovers of their own selves." Goodwin argues that self-love has become the defining mark of the modern Christian, pointing to how believers now build their lives, beliefs, and priorities entirely around themselves rather than God. Self-Love, Obsession, and Yielded Members Dan Goodwin returns to the phrase "lovers of their own selves," calling it the key statement of the passage and arguing that every trait Paul lists afterward flows out of that self-love. Charles Hiltibidal agrees, describing the list as character traits of someone who has let his "old man" become spiritualized while still living as before. The two address a common claim that a Christian cannot be influenced by demonic forces, with Hiltibidal clarifying that a believer cannot be possessed, since the Holy Spirit seals the inner man, but can still be "obsessed" through outside influence. Goodwin cites Paul's teaching, likely from Romans, that believers become servants to whatever they yield their members, whether eyes, hands, or thoughts, to. He argues Christians can yield themselves to demonic influence even while remaining saved. Hiltibidal broadens the point to responsibility, saying pastors, Sunday school teachers, deacons, and fathers must guard their households because scripture and preaching have been "watered down" to avoid confronting sin, with churches increasingly excusing compromise as simply belonging to "the Laodicean era." Natural Affection, Abortion, and Broken Walls The conversation turns to the phrase "without natural affection," and Goodwin asks why a woman would want to end her baby's life, answering that it requires the same self-love the passage describes. Hiltibidal points to a man running for the Senate in Texas who identifies as a preacher yet says abortion is acceptable, calling it proof that perilous times have reached Christian leadership itself. Goodwin then raises the old "doctrine of separation," illustrating it with the image of a wall meant to keep children, and especially sons, from wandering off like the prodigal son, and both men lament that courtship and chaperones, common in earlier generations, have largely disappeared because fathers will not enforce boundaries. Hiltibidal shares a personal memory from his pastorate in Dallas, recalling a respected evangelist who fell into adultery, lost his church and family, and wept at his desk confessing he believed God's blessing on his ministry meant the affair would be fine, an example Hiltibidal calls a clear picture of self overruling what a man already knows is true. Money, Debt, and Seducing Spirits Hiltibidal ties the list's word "covetous" to Paul's closing words in 1 Timothy 6:10, that the love of money is a root of evil that has caused some to err from the faith, and warns that Christian leaders today take advantage of their position for personal gain. Goodwin adds that many preachers avoid confronting certain sins because they fear offending the large donors who keep their churches running, and Hiltibidal suggests some leaders have built such debt through buildings and the appearance of success that they cannot risk losing that income. The men then return to 1 Timothy 4:1, where "the Spirit speaketh expressly" that in the latter times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to "seducing spirits" and doctrines of devils. Hiltibidal blames a lack of personal devotion, guessing that the vast majority of preachers, deacons, and Sunday school teachers never open their Bibles or spend quiet time with God before starting their day, leaving them vulnerable to whatever consumes their attention instead, a habit he says shapes much of what is wrong with Christianity today. Boasting, Pride, and a Call to Repent Working through the rest of Paul's list, Hiltibidal describes "boasters" as those who claim accomplishments and knowledge they do not truly have, and "proud" as those who consider themselves superior because of a larger congregation or following. He calls "blasphemous" not blasphemy against God directly but leaders who promote practices, which he says are unbiblical, while claiming spiritual authority, and ties "disobedient to parents" to fathers who refuse to set standards for their children's dress and conduct, warning that many preachers have lost their families by living one way in the pulpit and another at home. On "unthankful," Hiltibidal contrasts self-centered American believers with joyful Christians he has met in Uganda who own almost nothing, and a miserable millionaire he has also visited. He defines "unholy" as living by the old sinful nature while claiming spiritual justification. Goodwin closes by summarizing that self-love drives every trait on the list, urging viewers to be certain of their salvation and to walk with God, before signing off telling them to keep their eyes on the skies.

The Atlantic sees Israel wrestling with an identity crisis, but from a prophetic perspective the crisis is far more serious than a battle between secular Jews, religious Zionists and the Haredim. Israel was called out by God, told to dwell alone, and warned against placing its trust in the nations around it. Yet the last days find the Jewish state increasingly dependent on alliances, security guarantees, normalization agreements and international diplomacy to preserve what only God can ultimately preserve. Think about it. The very nation at the center of Bible prophecy is still looking outward for the answer to a problem that Scripture says can only be settled when Israel is finally brought face-to-face with Jesus of Nazareth. The prophets are shouting, but no one seems to be listening. Awake, O Israel, thy King cometh!!“And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.” Isaiah 8:14 (KJB)Bible prophecy tells us that this search for peace will not simply continue forever; it will culminate in deception. Israel will enter a covenant that appears to offer stability, only to discover that the man behind it is the man of sin. The false peace gives way to betrayal, the breaking of the covenant, the abomination of desolation where he ought not be, and Jacob's trouble and the great Tribulation will be well underway. That is the terrible last-days irony. Israel rejected the true Messiah, and Scripture warns that another will come in his own name and be received. But Antichrist does not get the final word. The counterfeit is exposed, the nations gather, Israel is brought to the end of its own strength, and Jesus Christ returns as the only KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS who can actually deliver the remnant nation that God chose for His own. Come Out of Babylon: Awakening Lukewarm Christians Before Judgment | KIB 550 Kingdom Intelligence Briefing DESCRIPTION Welcome to Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Episode #550 with Dr. Michael Lake and Mary Lou Lake. Why are so many Christians comfortable inside a system Scripture tells God's people to leave? In this episode, Dr. Michael Lake examines one of the most urgent calls in the Book of Revelation: "Come out of her, my people." — Revelation 18:4 The warning is significant because God addresses those inside Babylon as "my people." The problem is not simply that Babylon exists. The danger is that God's people can become entangled in its values, practices, loyalties, materialism, entertainment, counterfeit identity, and spiritual compromise. Dr. Lake and Mary Lou explore the picture of a spider's web as an illustration of the enemy's systematic methods. Ephesians 6:11 warns believers about the devil's "schemes" or "wiles." The Greek term methodeia conveys calculated, systematic deception—the kind of strategy designed to entangle people gradually rather than capture them all at once. The message then confronts lukewarm Christianity. Revelation 3 reveals that Laodicea believed it was prosperous and needed nothing, while Christ exposed its true spiritual condition. Material comfort can disguise spiritual poverty, leaving believers satisfied with Babylon while believing they are walking fully in the Kingdom. But this episode is about far more than identifying Babylon. God does not merely call His people OUT. He calls them INTO something greater. Out of darkness—into the Kingdom. Out of compromise—into covenant faithfulness. Out of mixture—into holiness. Out of counterfeit identity—into identity in Christ. Out of slavery—into the freedom of obedience. Out of Babylon—into preparation as the Bride of Christ. The contrast between Daniel and Lot provides a powerful biblical picture. Daniel lived in Babylon without allowing Babylon to live in him. Lot moved progressively from proximity to Sodom, to accommodation, and finally integration. Daniel followed the opposite path: conviction, separation, faithfulness, and ultimately godly influence. This leads to one of the central messages of KIB #550: Babylon falls. The Bride prepares. The King returns. The ultimate message of Revelation is not the greatness of Babylon—it is the supremacy and worthiness of Jesus Christ. This becomes the foundation for the episode's central question: How do we reach Christians who do not realize they are lukewarm? CHANGES IN MAN'S SOCIETY ALWAYS COME FROM THE BOTTOM, NOT THE TOP--changes in economics, politics, or religion, or the earth--because the top does not want to change; it always wants to be on the top. But if they try to seal the pot to preserve the status quo, they cannot, and the pot will explode and destroy because of the fire. There must be this continual change; otherwise there would be stagnation. There must be this constant circulation or there would be total stagnation and corruption, because that which is at the top is the first to ferment, to sour, to rot, and that which is on the bottom is full of dregs, which if allowed to accumulate would solidify and clot the circulatory process, and that which is on the top would become scum and froth and, as in the brewing of a good beverage, it must be constantly stirred to prevent the settling of the dregs or the accumulation of scum, and to insure the equal distribution of all properties concerned, there must be constant change and constant stirring and constant circulation to prevent stagnation--either by fire or by sword.3. THIS IS THE PRINCIPLE OF SOCIETY--of the society of human beings--as sure as the laws of physics. God has ordained it that way! It is as sure as the law of gravity: What goes up must come down! And as sure as the law of circulation of liquids and gases: What is down must go up! "For every high place shall be made low and the low places shall be made straight, and the mighty shall be abased and the weak shall become great." "They which live by the sword shall die by the sword; but the meek shall inherit the earth."4. AS SURE AS THE NIGHT FOLLOWS THE DAY.--AS SURE AS THE SUN RISES, IT MUST ALSO SET. As sure as the rain falls, it must also rise again. As sure as "from dust thou art, to dust thou shalt return"! As sure as life and death there must be a continual birth, life, death, resurrection. The cycle must be completed. The perfect circle of eternity, to complete the creation of God, of which He is the Designer and the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega.5. SO, "HE THAT HATH BEGUN A GOOD WORK IN YOU SHALL COMPLETE IT TO THE END." There must be both "In the Beginning" and "The Last Days." "Fret not thyself therefore because of evil doers" because "their great houses shall become desolate and their palaces shall be laid waste," and the grandeur that was Greece shall tumble into ruins, and the glory that was Rome shall fade into oblivion, that He which is Eternal may be made manifest and the beauty of His creation and the Glory of His Power and the Eternity of His Love, that He may be All and in all, that God may be glorified.6. SOCIETY AND ECONOMICS AND POLITICS TEND TO SOLIDIFY LIKE THE CHURCH, IF NOT MELTED AND CAUSED TO FLUX BY THE WHITE HEAT OF GOD'S JUDGEMENTS--persecution, hardships, suffering--if not stirred over the fire by the sword of His chastisement.7. GOD MOVES. HE IS A MOVING GOD. HE IS NEVER STILL. He is always doing, going, saying, effecting change in every sphere of Creation. He is never static, except for Himself. "I am the Lord: I change not." Except for His Word. "Forever Oh Lord, Thy Word is settled in Heaven." And except for the future--His promises to His Children. "There remaineth therefore a rest for the Children of God."8. AS FOR ALL ELSE, "THE MOUNTAINS SHALL BE MADE LOW, THAT WHICH HE HAS EXALTED SHALL BE ABASED, AND THE LOW PLACES SHALL BE EXALTED. He that is of a humble and contrite heart, in due time shall be highly exalted, until time shall be no more, and the Kingdom of our Lord is come, where He that ruleth in righteousness shall judge the earth and establish everlasting peace, and the Kingdom shall never fall, neither shall it be given unto others." It shall be forever! And we shall rule and reign with Him upon the earth and He shall rule the nations with a rod of iron--inflexible, unchangeable, eternal--the society of the Kingdom of God. "For the things which are seen are temporal!"--for a little while--"but the things which are not seen are eternal."9. "FOR WHATSOEVER GOD DOETH, IT SHALL BE FOREVER; NOTHING SHALL BE PUT TO IT, NOR ANYTHING TAKEN FROM IT. For God doeth it that men might fear before Him, for God doeth it, that men might fear before Him!"10. BEHOLD, HOW THE MIGHTY HATH FALLEN, AND GOD HATH EXALTED HIM OF LOW DEGREE!11. ARE YOU BECOMING STATIONARY WITH THOSE SEEKING TO PRESERVE THE STATUS QUO, to freeze the world into a block of ice? Or are you moving with the white hot fires of the Spirit of God--burning, melting, moving, molding, flowing, pouring, sharing, in this Age of Aquarius--the Age of the Water of Life--the Age of the Water Givers--the Age of Life Sharers?12. ARE YOU ATTEMPTING TO FREEZE AND PRESERVE, TO SOLIDIFY INTO IMMOVABLE ICE THAT MEANS DEATH?--Or are you warm, loving and sharing and wooing and sowing and conceiving with the Seed that brings Life--new birth, new creatures, and a new world--where "old things are passed away and all things are become new"!13. YOU'D BETTER MOVE NOW--WITH THE LIFE OF GOD--OR YOU'LL BE LEFT BEHIND IN THE DEATH OF THIS WORLD! Karl Marx was right, this world must change in the dialectics of its materialism in which nothing is permanent, but he was short sighted and did not foresee the unchangeable eternity of the spiritual world which will never change. "For that which is flesh is flesh, and that which is spirit is spirit" and "flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God" for, "God is a Spirit, eternal, unchangeable in the heavens" and "they which worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeketh such to worship Him, neither in this place, nor in that mountain, but in the eternal Spirit of God."14. "ALL THINGS CHANGE, BUT JESUS NEVER!--Glory to His Name!"15. "Abide with me, Fast falls the eventide;The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide...."16. What does it look like to live faithfully when you know Jesus is coming again?In this message from 1 Peter 4:1–11, Peter reminds believers that “the end of all things is near.” We may not know when Jesus will return, but we know that He will. What we believe about the FUTURE should inform how we live in the PRESENT.Peter was writing to Christians who were experiencing suffering, opposition, and even slander because of their faith. Following Jesus didn't remove the struggle—it changed how they responded to it. Instead of living for human desires or returning to their old way of life, Peter challenged them to spend the time they had left pursuing the will of God.So how should we live while we wait for Jesus to return? Peter gives us a practical picture: pray regularly, love constantly, live hospitably, serve faithfully, and speak wisely. In a world filled with chaos, prayer keeps our hearts focused on God.
