A Table at the Tan-O: Conversations About the World of General Hospital
Wow. The Best Daytime Drama Series of 2023 is really strutting its stuff this week. Gia and Keisha have no (almost) complaints. And plenty of praise! The actors and their characters seemed to join forces and show just how much Bobbie meant to them in Port Charles and real life. Well done, Carly, Sonny, Laura, Felicia, Maxie, Anna, Elizabeth, Scotty, Lucy, Lucas (Lucas!), Felix (great to see you, Felix!), and everyone else. Well done. It was great to see all of these pros at the top of their game. And great writing! Carly and Sonny reminiscing, all of the flashbacks, Elizabeth's offer to paint a new sign for the diner, the trip around the world with Carly and Felicia, the return of BJ as a ghost reporter? All interesting and moving. Lovely. Job well done, General Hospital. Also, do not mess with Ava.

Hi I'm Jay Farner CO Quicken loans 30% of Americans who are planning home improvements of $5000 or more will pay for those renovations with a high interest credit card that may not be a great idea a better idea may be to take cash out of your home with the Quicken loans 30 year fixed-rate mortgage the rate today in our 30 year fixed rate mortgage is 3.99% APR 4.08% call us today at 800 Quicken or go to rocket mortgage.com 125% B receive it is not real because of drinking and nobody six and 130 and Haley IRA as they get check project episode number 20 with your host Dr. Ken Brown I am Eric Rager Dr. Ken what's up episode number 20 Lovett sleep now going to tend to time wow I know it's amazing the beautiful spoony studios excellent excellent so no just today no guest today because we can do some cool new low fund that I were to do that were to push the boundaries what we did we talk about today well we have several people have written talked about sleep apnea not only through email but we have people who come to the clinic with people who come through the procedures they want to know what can I do about sleep apnea and it's funny because whenever we have them go sleep for the procedures oftentimes we are able to recognize you may need to go and get checked out for your sleep apnea problem and then they ineffably say I know I had sleep apnea and then many times they end up going getting tested right back and say I did thank you exactly so we always talk about this that the three pillars of health gut brain and sleep sleep is so important that for next month's KB MD subscription box your health has arrived is to be an addition of things to help people sleep better get into a deeper sleep get into good sleep hygiene because it's so important and just the fact that people will have obstructive sleep apnea right like this guy right here so I learned I have obstructive sleep apnea and I've snored my entire life didn't think anything of it and then of course you know we know that my kids by love tennis I took Lucas on a turn at one time and he said you kept me up all night snoring and then he lost the message that is match and I went okay. Checked out so once my friend ear nose and throat doctor Dr. Keith with a knee and he sent me home with an at-home sleep monitor and we were both surprised me he's like a friend and source that there is like you know you just kind of appeasing the family is like do you horrible sleep apnea what I don't fit the profile of no little chubby but the but I'm not and I don't have big thick neck and have those other things but as it turned out I have a lot of redundant tissue in the back my throat right word and address that we got some cool stuff on look at some studies about that because now I realize oh my gosh as we attempt to bridge the gap between natural solutions and traditional medicine there's stuff that has been published years ago very easy to do very life-changing and were to work on that today so if you have trouble sleeping make sure you tune into the show went in and talk about what it is to have symptoms of sleep apnea a lot of people don't even realize why they suddenly feel fatigued why they feel like they're trying to lose weight but simply co-I don't know I think that the most common symptom of sleep apnea is a bruise on your shoulder from the wife punching you all night long I know I know I snore real bad when the shoulder hurts because she's rolled me over on it and then I got a big bruising that's out that's the most common symptom of sleep apnea is the spousal attack as you continue to keep the whole house up so that I'm really lucky because I don't snore and fortunately not my wife does not snore either so it's pretty quiet but my dad did and he had sleep apnea and it was he did not want the machine he did not want to address it but when he did there was no turning back he felt better he had better energy he was glad that he was able to address the issue that he didn't realize was sidelining him for so long my goal for our subscription box and the D had subscription box which I am eating again what they had on Tuesday were to continue to launch as things could be so exciting we will change the landscape of health in the DFW Metroplex and hopefully spread beyond the Metroplex and get way out there and really start looking at some things that's one of the reasons why I think that we can use a subscription box to try and get these aspects of health improved so that everything works when you don't get into your proper circadian rhythm of sleeping your gut motility changes and you can then have got issues which is my primary thing but then we start looking at that that leads to autoimmune disease right let alone the other aspects of increased cortisol increased weight gain insulin sensitivity actually decreases and now you've got this whole recipe of why is a nation we continue to get sicker one of the problems as we do not have proper sleep hygiene one thing that happens also which is that vicious cycle is it when you don't sleep good that stressor decreases and they shown this your two endogenous Endo cannabinoid site known as a nano might into AG Ananda my goes down to AG goes up which is your stress and a cannabinoid in response to the stress it's going on and then because a jury in fight or flight also signed all of the time so unfortunately if you're one of these people you hopefully are listening to this and you're driving to work and if you're one of these people that notices that you get tired on your drive home and everything a lot of this is out of your control a lot of this is a hormonal response due to improper sleep and even if you go into sleep a long time select one of the things ultimate Joe's podcast I've always been a big fan of Adam ruins everything right yet you know that show if your chat site is Adam Conover I think is a really funny guy and if it is a good actor and all this other stuff but what they do is that they look at different things they haven't a team of researchers do different stuff now he sort of taken that show in his own podcast so is bringing those experts on the just little snippets on the show and hold you like a full hour with them will get a sleep expert on and he freely admitted he goes I grew up in a home I think it's a town of Argosy's Irish group at home or having a nightcap is very normal then you will so for years I would work odd hours I would have a drink to get tired and go to sleep and then she said will here's what happens with that yes alcohol is a sedative you go to sleep but what it does is when it wears off you have a spike in energy in it will draw you out of your circadian rhythm and it moves your REM sleep further along so that typically when you're in your RAM is when you're waking up at six or 7 AM yeah and it disrupts the whole process so even though you went to sleep and if you get a good sleep you screwed that up same thing will happen sleep apnea the second you go into an ethnic episode it raises your awareness cortisol goes up pulls you out of that circadian rhythm and that happens so today were going to do some cool tricks on how to help sleep apnea forcibly like me if you get redundant tissue in this different stuff that's really cool the other really cool thing that were to do today is do you remember that kick ass guess that we had named Brandon Brown I do remember Rainer Brandon Brown from a flower power no flower child flower child our child sous chef at flower at the flower child great episode check that out is super cool dude he he contacted us he said you know what you guys as such's something really unique your doctor you there neuron's booty network which is kind of a ghetto chef Patrick's got his show is a catch start doing a little. Today for the first time where you have the tracking with KB MD CBD show it did happen and we have results were going to show how to make one thing and so something that was made already and brought in today but I've watched a lot of the Food Network back one of my patients is a producer for the Food Network site I get the inside scoop on how that action works in and everything so it's kinda cool to always fun to see the backing of the backend of how the stuff gets produced how they do another set it up but I watch a lot of Food Network authority to do that were to do a live cooking show you make some cool stuff today were the new CVD word and talk about that and we also make sure that the study just came out today as a matter fact I just saw where eating flavonoids and polyphenols specifically they looked at that from teasing from brute strength when you had a high risk population a smoking population and people with poor lifestyle significantly decrease the cancer risk wow so that brings up our moment of polyphenol talk and ponder on teal so we develop upfront to forget health overall good health but were realizing that the powerful polyphenols is the only NSF certified meaning if you're an athlete you can take this your doctor to get pop for anything wrong and if this actually has been shown to help athletic performance by increasing nitric oxide to the muscle strength we know the polyphenols do that we know the polyphenols actually decrease the oxidative stress and we also know that the polyphenols go to the Cold War your body breaks it down for anti-inflammatory antiaging molecules that were to call post-biotics that I got some cool news on that also so the fact that this study just came out more and more and more were hearing about how beneficial these molecules are these are the things that make vegetables and fruits colorful right from the Mediterranean diet study just came out that showed it you lead a high risk lifestyle meaning if you smoke or you eat processed foods you need to make sure that you get a significant amount of polyphenols in and one way to do to stake out front to in a really easy way to do it saves money is to vertigo they can go to love my tummy.com/study and use code spinning sinks and money so we will talk more about polyphenols we'll talk more our goal here is Dutch I project is just to make you your best you no matter what your lifestyle is were you did little like tax to see if we can figure out Kathleen speaking on life actually have two things that we need to address on some quick business so we have notified the six winners however I get to that have not heard back from them when we hear back from those to some going to resend the email to those two and confirm with everyone and we can read out the winners names I'll resend that email by tomorrow just be sure and check your email just in case you didn't go through last time that we want to make certain we have the correct mailing address etc. and then we will send out the winning six packages second thing what are they getting by what they are getting Dr. Brown's signature protection package which is a month supply of trying to heal as well as your choice of sentiment or natural flavored CVD KPMG CBD which of course carries its own certificate of authenticity and day means that day you're getting a real CBD product while so the Dr. Brown you call it the signature protection package correct okay also available way better than what I would put together which would've been a beware of $can amaze that's my protection yeah that has nothing to the doctor that you can also order your own signature protection package by going to KB MD health.com that again is KB MD health.com drop us a line and let us know that you have shared and subscribe to get check project in one last thing KB MD box KB MD box.com if you like we've gotten great feedback on the first now six weeks into launching KPD health box most people didn't really realize the value that was going to be in there it's well over $100 in savings it does include doctrine to and when you break it down it is the least expensive place to find out trying to will my deal is it isn't so much on the short-term savings is that if you commit to this and really really do this for me a solid six months to a year were to transform your life or to heal your gut were to get to sleep better to protect your brain and your good do it through vetted supplements that are backed by science absolutely and it's K BMD box.com you can sign up on your own and just to play on that we have a story later in today show that I know that touchdown with you a little bit about what it takes to have a roadmap to success and why road you may be loaded with all of the information that you need to succeed to be healthy to be fit etc. but it always makes you more productive to have a roadmap even if you create it yourself or you use somebody else's crib notes on terms of what it is that you're going to do its best to have a plan in a plan matters essentially KPD box keeping the health box is a plan it's a plan for supplementation that will make a difference for you healthy no wasting money no guesswork this is your baseline to start with some that's funny because yesterday I became friends with somebody is pretty cool he is the owner of Soto weight loss Lesotho San Pablo state-of-the-art state-of-the-art that's right yes I just just happen to be sitting next to Mark Doyle who is the CEO state-of-the-art set out to Hannegan the answer we discussed the talking and over time outrun to you and I was just thinking my gosh with the way that you're helping your people and you given them a roadmap to lose weight and were not sponsored by them or that you just a super nice guy and I've looked at his website I'm impressed anybody who's out there trying to help the general public with her health and one ways certainly weight loss and helping them achieve that yeah you had that in a subscription box you got yourself a bad acetyl package yeah so if you're doing any type of weight loss or anything like that check out outfront he'll check out our subscript and boxer KB MD box and make it although but easier make it happen little quicker we'll the polyphenols I was going to mark this yesterday that polyphenols are a fasting mimetic molecule right other words appear in ketosis or if your fasting to intermittent fasting it actually augments that and you can listen to Melanie Avalon podcast that I did with her legal way into that but so cool that you ran into him so in the end it's been a while since I've looked at what does soda has but it's it's it's it's essentially a proven roadmap two and functional ketogenic diet right that can help explain its personally never heard about it I did know what it was I would actually like that I think I've seen this before just a really nice guy would just sit there talking we start talking that's a cool deacon out a little bit a man and then he's staying up his account UA grandpa belly knees like 10,000 that we can work on that guy well and enough of the pitches so get started how was the house that lasted two weeks been and what's been going on in document household while so Dr. Brown household as we rounded out the summer school started boo-boo but the today I believe that for Carla yeah so so school starting today that summer was a thick thick summer of tennis Lloyd out basically was traveling everywhere around the country taken one or the other child Lucas or Carl around and it last week for the why was little over seven days I took Carla to Alpharetta Georgia for the 12s of hardcourt national championships and little life lesson there she was doing remarkably good and she lost first round to the seated person but then figure it out and then just started doing great one a couple really tough matches was doing playing fantastic will back to the hotel also caught up in tennis and then I got a reminder from American Airlines check into your flight tomorrow hello oh this happen that quickly been there since like Friday and it was Wednesday and I went I didn't anticipate being that long so that I had to sit have a heart-to-heart with my daughter unlike your kicking ass boy somebody getting to work to pay for this yeah so I had to simply go I'm so sorry and then we were trying to figure out that she could play one more match and it was just really difficult and then beautiful loop the cool thing about traveling were all packed up and then Caroline's just sent your flights were canceled though no cancel now the reason why it's a big deals because as you know you and I showed up on that Friday and we had like 20 some patients that that needed the thick day yeah we need colonoscopies and endoscopy's and helping people is out of town and so your growth is panicky like you just canceled my flight and then you try to rebook but everybody on that flight strata resorts would like that was not available that was unavailable arrive at 1 AM start scoping so I would not be getting there so I went to my dual trust to go to which is Southwest right so in the series of events is digressive recited the series of events were Carl and I went we went had breakfast came back with pack every thing up and I'm doing the whole was my phone thing couldn't find my phone oh my computer and zero it the computer says the phone was last years there and I like walking around trying to find it and I have a Google pixel so maybe the iPhones better at find my phone but it was and I found it in the parking lot South kind of panic and run over no I know so find phone come up 10 minutes later American Airlines canceled my flight so Marty kind of worked up here on the matter happens sure so I go through this like we do call him and I really have to get back I can't risk that flights would like it to leg flight to get me back it's all arriving at 1 AM so than those available might benefit just cancel despite that easy anyone 053 canceled even I'm not to build make it back to do my job so get on Southwest I book a one-way ticket for both of us to get back okay sounds good we get through doing to the Atlanta airport pull up to the counter guy was really cool but it was a slight your checking a bit early and now it's only like hour and 1/2 is like no this flight is for tomorrow in my haste I booked the flight for the next day Carla looks at me and the guy was so cool beautiful €20 he's a hoot and he was was your father flipping out today and she was really stressed and goes well and let you take it easy… Put you on the appropriate flight so that's why Kennewick goes but I have one question for you sir just as I why did you ever book with American in the first thought that was pretty cool so that was our that was our travels I was meeting Carla now Lucas Lucas was a beast he went to Kalamazoo which is that it's called gnats at the zoo is a very prestigious term it writes the hardware championships did a pretty good in singles he lost the tough indoor match but doubles him and his partner Aiden Tim they made it to the finals and they did a live stream of that they had commentators and everything there is why such big deals because the winner of that it's an automatic invite to the junior US open in New York he wanted it said Flushing Meadow he wanted so bad unfortunately they did not win it but I am proud that he at least the finalists they were the youngest kids are both 14 playing and you know you can play up till the day you turned 17 so Moses kids a little older and great so super happy about that and no that's a strong family as far as me I think I told you I listen to a podcast Goldmine pump right kind of a fun one at that its 3X bodybuilders/trainers in there they're pretty realistic and kinda neat and I downloaded their own mark at the Idella one of the work of at these different workouts called maps this maps that not a lit map stand for both buying whatever I did the map strong which is they have the strong man you're doing strongmen techniques to really work some different muscles right you know how it is you just getting these routines were you talk about a roadmap on how to do dieting ointment sometimes just have a roadmap you show up and that's what people love CrossFit because there never work out right therefore and I'm doing these workouts but in the heavies videos of forget what the guys name but he's an actual strongman doing front squats with 315#oh my gosh I'm almost there but yeah so anyways I'm in each of those guys a little shout out and tell them one little piece of advice that really makes their workouts stand out way more that way more I think you should start the work out in either go out and buy shirts a size smaller or do what I did with this thing and wash it in hot water because I feel like I'm getting bigger but the reality is just went tighter so that should be part of the protocol berries that's what's going on with me now is you had a really cool week with what would you do we the boys and Marie and I have always almost always vacationed where we do an outdoor adventure of some kind almost never leave town to go stand in a nice hotel or as Mac but it can we just have a vacation where we don't have to get up and start hiking and so Marine I decided to take the boys and in each of them took a friend and we went in Costa Rica's were raised in a NAI nice hotel in Tamarindo and it was right on the beach and honestly we just got in lots of days of surfing drinking great coffee eating incredible local food we did a catamaran tour which show Robert Drysdale the fighter former MMA now jujitsu master haven't heard that name in a long time he was on he was on the catamaran with its and he seemed I really did talk to me just seemed like a super cool dude and that means beautiful wheat we all went snorkeling saw some cool stuff did a oh yeah is a little guy abatement 64 GCA sees not small at all and but we did that did a ATV tour to the dry jungle saw a lot of monkeys solve three humpback whales made it was really lazy and ATV tooth is jungle that is awesome yeah it is it was I guided so they took us up and is really really cool and I mean very relaxing lot your phone doesn't work and a lot of these spaces so yeah it was it was a nice escape and ironically we flew Southwest down to Costa Rica seamless no problems no cancel flight so I'm a big fan of the old Southwest at sublessee will sponsor get we use the word love in our in our love meant to me.com where you so but they know you it was great in the now we've returned our boys that started back to school yesterday had a great day at school yesterday they both are excited date for the most part they actually keep up with their friends at that the summer because they both shoot hoops with with most of their friends they see them but to no great week and 1/2 for vacation yeah sometimes realize you don't get enough time with your family it that was awesome let me ask you some serving questions were you able to try different boards were able to know try and do so once you figured out you get up what did you find to be the easier board well it's funny that I think about a 7 foot foam board for an adult male seems to be the beginner style board but you don't tell him to stay there when you get confident of where you place your feet you can you can really cannot play around a lot and so there happened to be someone renting boards right by our hotel and he had everything we had one it was about a 8 foot board for a kid who came along with us Max buddy who's already 63 I think and it basically looked like a I like a closet door it was just gigantic and it was a little difficult to get up on but once you're up you can't tell he can't fall now and as so that that was a cool board but you the bigger the board the harder to cut right okay they had dad they had some other smaller boards around 6 1/2 maybe 6 foot long and and they varied in material but then the guy and his name is Delbert and Delbert you want to show you probably not you bet Anita but we we used when his cutting boards and strict board so it was about 4 feet long and while that was a half-hour yucky seem to climb and so anyway vertical surface held it to Costa Rica was beautiful dear will learn how to surf you are doing a great environment the waves coming nice and slow the Pacific waters down on Central America are not cold is beautiful that's awesome that's way better what else they can write while you were down there I turned into the euro on Apple TV the red bull channel were they did the big wave challenge like down in Peru was now knocking it was not as that is the first half-hour episode of a 20 to get check project we've got actually some really cool stuff doesn't Monday yeah this is as immigration we still got to Dr. Brown's corner to talk about our clinic review and then we've got some really cool stuff for you to possibly defeat sleep apnea and find new ways of consuming CBD place right the only bit why have thousands of aspiring authors teamed up with corner and just a quick call back if you ever want to get yourself your hands on some nice polyphenols which are NSF certified the only ones indicated for bloating and abdominal discomfort love my Tammy.com/spooning as love my tummy.com/miniature daily polyphenols we can talk little bit about why it matters to reduce that kind of inflammatory stuff absolutely by the way so one of the other things we really love talk about is CBD cannabidiol KB MD CBD today were to be having cooking with KPMG CBD our own little segment of the new of that nothing to show that a new segment to the show cooking with CBD were to do that but one of the things we love to do the signature protection package the reason why we put the two together because the polyphenols in trying to actually help you essentially produce more of your own and dodges in the cannabinoids by blocking enzymes that break it down so when you do CBD plus upfront to actually work synergistically it's like one plus one equals four that's a people to think about that's why I was put together that's where all my patients that both ice small side note to just a reminder that I was just talking with the Anthony at arch until headquarters and we are confirmed so we have lots of dietitians I want to show we have on feedback from dietitians and nutritionists fancy the nutrition conference at the end of October arch on teal for the first time ever will be making an appearance and it's in Philadelphia at the end of October this year as we sell yet so it's up to cool deal to write to you doing such a chemical city like I'm actually probably really never ever been there I did give a lecture there for the American culture yes virology does cool five but I was at the Philadelphia brotherly love you or if you go to the Eagles game just brotherly shove yeah little little piece of advice you know they'll have everyone has their favorite cheese Philly cheese steak place a Member with the two major ones are but there's like to churn major ones don't do it I didn't go did you free it doesn't work well in Philly may need you just gotta stop like everybody lined like or dislike about you bro Crichton Philly cheese steak. The reference I say whatever I do it I was the Jack-in-the-Box commercial Jack walks up to the to the new guy is like junk I need you to fill you learn about every mobility cheese statements and six months later could lead with a mullet yellow check all soaked up Philly like a sponge yeah I don't think it's really quite that kind of you to come back with a mullet hello and I hope so let's get down to the clinical work as we get some really cool stuff here and get some cool tie-ins to lead into what we got the rest show yeah so one of things before we get into our you know we always try to do some sort of deep dive into an article but before that a couple to third or two things just popped up in the news yesterday actually really cool salesforce founder the company sales force will have a huge yet and CEO Mark Ben New York Benioff began I owe FFD data saving been with Mark and now Mark market his wife Lynn there to donate $35 million specific to understanding the field of the human microbiota that's a lot of money so cool specifically they want the money to be used to look at asthma inflammatory bowel disease"" other elements of systemic disease from the cell stomach disease from the bowel manipulative microbiology and what they could do there to give the gift it's to be split between University California San Francisco and Stanford University Did that in mind and your quote from them is with a deeper understanding of the human micro biome our generation can unlock new treatments that impact lives around the world so we always taught Michael Banuelos about feeding the micro biome and how important it is to eat for it I was joke around if you see a pregnant woman interceding for two we need to be eating for hundred trillion right and that's what they're getting into they believe or basically he believes wise donating 35 million that were a watershed moment in human biology and our health rests not only on the proper functioning of our own genes but also on the genes and the products of our micro bio yeah so what you feed your micro biome in the products meeting post biotics review that term before this prebiotic switchyard under adjustable fibers there's probiotics which we know are just alive or the supposed be like bacteria and if you if you listen to our episode with Carolyn Krishnan we get into that we discussed the pros and cons of probiotics how the manufactured housing delivered how the delivered actually how probably what 99% of them are being destroyed around it alive and everything so go ahead look at that whatever episode that was a few episodes back but it's what we really get into that it's really cool so I love how they said that not only are human genes but also the genes and products or micro bio same day Stanford discusses a study so this got published I love the fact that they don't need the money I don't know if I knew that Stamper was republishing this or not but they discovered thousands of novel proteins produced by the human microbiologist was just published in the journal cell we always talk about post-biotics like molecules like-year-old Lifton right which you know of someone like Rhonda Patrick always talked about your Lutheran creating autophagy meaning that your aging and dying cells or my tough duty your aging and dying mitochondria actually go away will these guys figure something out that's really cool they used very specific techniques and they determined that there are thousands of previously undiscovered small proteins being produced by bacteria in the human micro micro bio these are all newly described proteins they serve an unknown function but what's really wild is it's a brand-new frontier it fits in exactly what Karen was talking about do you remember when he said we need to explore based biotic did it send signals to kill other bacteria about virulent and when we asked him or like what are the signals that will relearning that I think it's these small proteins guess what they are there sequences of amino acids anywhere between smaller than 50 amino acids wow that's a peptide that is a peptide member how we talk about BPC 157 yeah and what were to have Taylor compounding CEO on I been talking to him a little bit and is really excited with Vince exchanging emails but peptide therapy this is exactly what that is what what Stanford is saying is that our own bacteria are producing peptides that work on a local and possibly systemic level here's what's fascinating once they figured out how to find it they discovered immediately there were hoping to discover a few hundred over 4500 different protein peptide sequences being produced by different bacteria leading to different cellular responses so when we talk about how complex the micro biome is and how important it is to feed what it needs this is a whole new frontier so I was getting so excited and geek out will always want what will I was reading this and the return to how small proteins can be synthesized rapidly and can be used by bacteria as biological switches to toggle between functional states or to trigger a specific reaction other cells of those it can happen that quick why was this is amazing and that went on to outlaw because the last sentence was which could be very exciting for new future drug developments it's clear that's the endgame of everything I but it's fascinating because if you can get to the point where you eat a proper diet and have a systematic approach you could be using your bacteria to produce these things to make you healthier but why wait why wait to get sick to take some drugs and hopefully they develop in the future why not feed your micro biome what it wants right now you know what it reminds me a story and tell me if this is not the right time to bring it up get it from interrupting that the clinic owner but give you her Ryan Carrigan please football okay let's get understand yeah so I just read a story on him I think it was early yesterday morning and written by a writer from ESPN to second Temple that and to think so heavens window yes it is okay so Ryan Carrigan the whatever it what they were remarking on was the fact that he has I think the forest most consecutive starts in the NFL but the crazy thing is is he place for a team which last year led the NFL and number of players on injured reserve's they were curious like wise this guy not being hurt when everyone around him is right yeah and so Jay Gruden is the coach they are member reading stories like but don't jinx it and when they went to bed so they they go in a interview with with Ryan in what he did when he was younger is he read a story about Drew breeze redrew recent gone out and gotten food allergy testing any thought you know what I want to find some foods and maybe I should be eating really did I think one of was milk and a few other small things I decided to begin to avoid it and then as he aged back in 2016 2017 if our member correctly he began to really dive deep into a regimented mapped out meal plan so for instance his diet and there is now every day starts with two chicken breasts 1 cup of oats and diseases breakfast you what did in season and and during training camp every day starts at two chicken breast 1 cup of oats a tablespoon of flaxseed's Chia seeds plus raspberries blueberries and half of an avocado then for dinner and lunch it's heavy on freight on fish protein and vegetables red meat at least once a week and that's it let's go right on that breakfast will quit sure that is a great way to start your day yet so we've got the chicken breast which obviously proteins and have the protein would you need that is a building block to amino acids get broken down at that yeah little bit of fat let's bring it to get that right there right avocado we know that ever since we went to this low-fat diet we just become sicker that is not bad note and an avocado advocate that what that does bring in there is good fat so that you can produce your testosterone through the cholesterol and you can produce other things like and a cannabinoid site so you need the fat to do that other stuff Chia seeds in the raspberries and blueberries of the raspberry blueberry that's all poly polyphenols the Chia seeds are all three prebiotic things to feed the to feed your back. Not yet the polyphenols and the Chia seeds as a vehicle to go down there Ludwig is missing is a spore based biotic and he could kick it up and not by adding little upfront to his amazing so they they they now are looking at his diet and how he's avoided injury easy defensive lineman he makes contact every single play it's not like he's playing safety and only having to dive over one set every three plays or cover know he's he's head-to-head he's he's in combat for every place on the field and he started 120 consecutive games never been on IR injuries that is a topic that you know we bring up occasionally Junior Bryant is a good friend and he's let you know he played defensive line for the census go 49ers for years and when I talked to him about what his what the diet regiment they didn't focus on that fact that now that yeah do they just had he said I'll do that we just have Wonder Bread out and they just didn't know right now we realize that the nutrition is probably most importantly we know another really key aspect of what he does beyond the recoveries big foam roller he's big into doing ice baths after eel hard workouts and things like that all things system down inflammation right everything is to block information but something that he does as a preventative is he never wants to be now hydrated he always wants to have enough hydration so that granted this volume seemed large to me the probably for a guy of his size of things like 290 pounds probably isn't as much since he's active but he drinks 300 ounces of water per day which is 1520 ounce bottles is a lot so a gallon is hundred 20 8 PM as long water I don't think I need quite that much water but it is critically important that you do remain hydrated and you'll function better your body will function better the communication even the post biotic communication happens within your body becomes more efficient with enough hydration and I think we are chronically dehydrated if you look at people when we talk about health sitting is bad for your health we always people who were we read a patient yesterday describing what it's like to live in San Francisco and how people cannot afford to live in the city all my gosh I commute two hours two hours away four out five our five day work week is 20 hours in the car 20 hours in the car now think how much that time look at how bad it is for you number one just the stress of driving number two you're sitting where I feel that sitting for prolonged periods is very bad for you and you just brought up hydration how many people purposely don't hydrate so they don't have to pull over and use the restroom yeah like I will have to be yeah other than that woman who is the astronaut who wore the diaper she she was a trooper yet. She just strapped him to drive in my psychotic probably will after a guy favorite stories ever just a refresher woman chasing man leaves Houston drives to Florida wearing diapers and she has the pullover yeah that would that would be in such an awkward like you like okay what Cheryl what's up why are you wearing a diaper drove all the way over here didn't stop yeah I'm sure you understand the total love boot I think this is gonna work this is gonna work like your tender profile this is wearing that diaper tender profile I don't think that's something you should wear but anyway I'd love to thank you were talking about feeding the microbiota because really when you break down what they're not even referencing that in here but what that this is he's doing he's feeding his micro bomb and it's making what we think is making in health the only thing that I would've loved to see so do I were all about life tax article that I did not the print but I will talk about at some point they showed that vibration plates increase the microbial diversity for the first time ever researchers have shown that sanding on a total body vibration plate as you know kind of into that Asherah into the infrared sauna and the vibration plate something like that and now what would you do next my wife will just absolutely not be able to tolerate potential come out to the garage and I'll be there in the sauna will be on the vibration plate known she just to drive her nuts what she's in the seat next from now on is just to be weird to be doing first cool yeah so so like that's another thing like I would love to grab him have some like that go to you doing a lot that's awesome but is really doing that probably fills up as David might imagine that a little infrared sauna little vibration plate adding note that little extra polyphenols right and you can really you know just continue to kick it up a notch or you can turn into Ben Greenfield were that's pretty much all you do is try to bile hack your life at all times oh tell that story to click about Ted being Greenville because I number one I'm a big fan of him in the fact that he experiments on himself if you will be in Greenfields a great podcast the guy digs deep but the cool thing about then it is honest well so I did not hear Ben say this but one of my sons tennis coaches Anderson is a huge Ben Greenfield fan I and he listens to all his podcasts and he is also really big tennis coach that was big in the Spartan race and yeah so he likes to travel so he purposely went to Colorado because Ben Greenfield was going to do us part racing usually go there a lot of people were good despite race with them and apparently he was a professional bow hunting get the details wrong this is coming from somebody else but it makes sense knowing then and knowing his personality this makes total sense he apparently was on a pretzel bow hunting thing in Colorado and made his own water purification system that he thought would be perfect but he ended up getting Giardia and so had to pull out of the race to fill you told all his friends like that.Giardia couldn't do it sorry thought my filter would work turns out love that also yet I was to find out if that's reportedly hooking up with his CEO and Utah here if you reach him now Angelo have laughed and lamented about what happened so that you know that's and that's a thing Angel said adjustment bends always bet that is not a persona like you and I would patients go your time like this only unfortunately there's no off switch sorry about that good man that is awesome well now I like how all this stuff ties together because what were doing I think is creating a roadmap main and we talked about a roadmap healthcare BD health box and we talked about arch until multiple times over just reinforcing the fact that you can protect your health by making sensible choices my kids don't like it they think that I'm a Nazi when it comes to sugar and what they should be having and sometimes you have to relent a little bit I did need to sway going up but eventually you'll you can hear Crossroads and you'll end up benefiting from simply deceiving better you know it's if you come to my hospital go to the doctor's lounge oh career in word it hurts cringe worthy jars of M&Ms like like those big like Katie does report the lid off reacher handed tonight but I don't go to hospital Holland anymore but it is it is pretty funny to watch that where you like my gosh this is just having that you can get all the sodas you want it's all free for the doctors you want when there's cookies and cracker of the just of jelly bears and everything course beyond the sugar it just seems like that is just a MR essay VRE vancomycin-resistant Enterra caucus just select oh my goodness but that's all there and I remember reading a study where bad I want to say it's UC San Francisco Rhonda Patrick had had a PhD on talk about telomeres which are your chromosomes was a triangular your life like they banned so that yeah they banned soda and as it turned out the employees lost weight improve their hemoglobin A1c like across the board without even trying just getting Minnesota just soda and doesn't include any other sugary snacks our member that story and it was fascinating but not even surprising measures the inflammatory issue that you don't wheat we did the one study that we talked about where they gave mice the equivalent of one soda a day of high fructose corn syrup and there there were genetically predisposed mice to have polyps but they had like 80% increase in polyps and colon cancer and the only variable was the hyper just corn syrup from the equivalent of one Canaday and it's and it's unfortunate that you know I I was in that rut several years ago I just I fell into drinking Cokes and then laugh I walked away from and I still miss it but it's hard to get away from because you have a dopaminergic response yeah you have all that you money on it I'm trying to especially since a marked oil from soda so the impact I got a little extra weight my belly he did the whole picture. You know that's a great marketing technique I am saying that I read it but so I and I'm trying to get away from someone of the things that after listener that Adam Conover deal not uncommon I come home from work it's almost habit have a little dry form online or do anything like that even make a cocktail just a candidate you know that was just you to students, rhythm of doing that I'm like okay were to break that so it's I'm now in like a month of the Lord three weeks of not even having like a glass of wine with dinner which is you know something that kinda did for a lot of notes from the European theater knew my most wanted to know whatever my dad's German and so on corruption the carbonated sodas specifically bubbly now we have.Stu Ackerman I my partner got to get very in-depth intellectual conversation about bubbly flake letter like this one called Waterloo he sent me a picture of it which is funny because we are talking where it just the act of cracking it open sit marriage refreshing and when I was in Alpharetta Georgia with Carla no it's really hot him outside all day she was just laugh at me because I was just just going through cans and can't he just realize it's almost a rhythmic thing to hold something you and I've done that we've gone on business retreats yeah where we were we were one of the mind shares I was doing club soda like you are you just had like 12 club soda note is like I just think you just super hydrated like you say a word you think so are you writing about thank goodness over my diapers wouldn't have a conversation with anyone that's looking to be like you Kayla Mike yeah yeah long I'm good I prepared myself to Jeff to get a quick note to about this sleep apnea stuff do we want to take my before that the break you know what will do I'll tell you the story of the article okay and then were to do some life packs it out on top of the hour go endeavored to get into the KPMG trucking was CBD's pony show that's easier to be a chef today, walk you through a recipe I can't wait I think it's gonna be fun so I came across this super cool thing that the basically I got a news alert that set a five minute workout can lower the risk of a heart attack and increase your sports performance and improve clear thinking I'm in Oregon five and it worked out no lifting weights no cardio and as it turns out it's a very old technique that is just to resurface because somebody decided to do another trial this is the cool stuff that were talking about where there are so many things we can do that maybe have gotten forgotten listen to our photo by modulation podcast to understand that there is data on stuff and you don't know anything about much like the psilocybin research much like a lot of stuff this is one of these things it's so interesting this was an article that looked at inspiratory muscle strength training camp it was developed in the 1980s to improve respiratory muscles in people with lung diseases like bronchitis asthma and emphysema basically inspiratory muscle strength training is strength training for the muscles that you breathe with okay three talking intercostal traps nominate all the accessories as well correct so as it turns out it's all the accessories including your throat muscles okay so in 2016 they found that when you took people and you did destroy muscle strength training that 30 inhalations a day had significant improvement in obstructive sleep apnea which got me to read the rest of the article which was about sleep apnea but then I started thinking about different ways to hack sleep apnea okay so this particular article what they did is they looked at middle-aged in older adults age 50 to 79 with above normal blood pressure systolic blood pressure so there were recruiting hypertensive people They were randomly assigned to perform six weeks of 30 breast a day six days a week 30 breasts that's it and you'd be the Duchenne trial or you got this particular device which is an inspiratory muscle strength training device K which coincidentally I ordered from Amazon today okay so what they looked at is motor in cognitive function was measured at baseline and postintervention with this different cognitive toolbox that I use they looked at a battery of tests and some other standardized measures including significant very aggressive blood pressure monitoring what they showed is that neither treatment altered body weight so wasn't exercising the way that you think what would do this to lose weight sure they did not change the body composition but what they did shows there was a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure with an average of greater than 10 points so if you're walking around at let's say 150 you dropped to 140 you went from hypertensive to pre-hypertensive I just by breeding just by coming into the sky now what is really interesting is that they also show that cognition improved significantly they did memory test some people their cognition improved now what they did not discuss was the effect it is this related to the sleep apnea effect and getting better sleep so the article didn't get into just discussed we lowered blood pressure and their smarter and by the way in the background in 2016 they did prove this work. For obstructive sleep apnea okay so is it the obstructive sleep apnea crating the lower blood pressure in the improvement of cognition or is it just the breathing who cares right is a ship doesn't matter were talking about a non-pharmaceutical way to lower your blood pressure sleep better and improve your memory right I mean like if I gave you a bottle of that you go yeah like five birds one stone it's like five birds one stonefaced weight and cost nothing do Chuck Norris can even kill five stones with one bird but yeah I think that it's okay so anyways the data suggests that this inspiratory muscle strength improving the speed and episodic memory lowers blood pressure and it may be related to possibly sleep I don't know so that's my question so with a minute left on a plant a seed on you I did a show called superhuman radio with Carl Lenora Noriega and we got he's funny because he'll just go off on tangents and we get into a tangent where he said he cured his sleep apnea by doing throat exercises okay using an instrument were they get into that at the top of the hour like like a metal instrument or a musical instrument you know what you get into it it might be a kazoo I don't know basically what to look into this and then I looked at this and I want to tell you while you're practicing the instrument oh some science behind it so that you just realize I'm not to try to make you look silly now you know I'm sure I'll dig right at the top of the hour you're gonna work even though you don't snore more to at least improve your memory okay by doing inspiratory course good lobotomy.com/spooning love my tummy.com/money for your own are trying to heal in your own polyphenols if you want to make certain that you can control your information naturally absolutely and feed your microbiologist like her to come code spooning for your natural polyphenols and all the benefits come along with it feeding your micro biomes in the last half-hour the fascinating proteins are produced by bacteria of the beneficial genome that we have within us the happiness is endless microbiota so we left this last half hour and I'm now curious I've learned that I'm going to put on the spot anything on the spot to do something and it's going to be to cure my sleep at me that I don't have by the way but I'm going to take care of it and you said that I'm going to show how to do it while you explain what were doing correct so we talked last half-hour about this inventory muscle of benefit of breathing to that little thing where you can actually decrease systolic blood pressure that I thought an article inspired by Carl and or superhuman radio about from the British medical Journal to assess the effects of playing the didgeridoo Long daytime sleepiness another outcome related to sleep by reducing collapse ability of the upper airways in patients with moderate obstructive sleep apnea okay so straight out Australia from the it's an aboriginal instrument right yeah so my neighbors Australian I've never played Lloyd a was complaining about me snoring is why would I want to do that is Australia snow was didgeridoo at your neighbor Paul Hogan so of course him and I went around my yard while you that and we had yeah we we we grabbed a branch and we refashioned traditional didgeridoo guide to brand yeah and so what what you do is you carve out the middle of it termites Doolittle that now you know I am what you will notice as these are this is his family crest from my and my neighbor we have yes Hogan I can see yes yes right there so the salamander at that point so I would have you do is I will tell you about the rest of the story and you're going to hold this and learn it because we can have you play the didgeridoo learn learn it yesterday we are taught that sin but let me tell you why it's so important so the this is a randomized placebo-controlled trial which is really funny because I don't know how you do a placebo verse of the didgeridoo were somebody holding something like this and the other guys holding a kazoo or set together banks and obstruct and adjust but so there was a randomized controlled trial were they looked at 25 patients a greater than age 18 with no apnea and hypoxia did also complained about snoring and so this is kind of funny here and so participants in the didgeridoo group practice an average of 5.9 days a week for 25 minutes so you can do 25 inspirations to decrease your blood pressure okay then you bust out your didgeridoo and your practice for 25 minutes and then they compared that with the control group in the de jure group daytime sleepiness significantly improved they did sleep study and apnea hypoxia significantly improved and most important there was a significant improvement in partner complaints about snoring disturbances of throw everything else out vessel and the matters that so if you play 25 minutes the didgeridoo so I was kinda shocked that Carl Lenore was exactly right he was able to fix his obstructive sleep apnea because he played the didgeridoo as a method methodologic response to improve OSA so just where talk about the football player when he does all these regimented past I have obstructive sleep apnea that's what you're holding this that's why me and my neighbor works so hard to craft and out so that I would have one of those what's fascinating is in a self-reported effect of the quality of sleep they did not notice a difference say that again daytime sleepiness improved hypoxia improved the spouse felt no significant difference but the self perception of better sleep didn't take place which is why so many people with apnea don't realize they have apnea okay even though clinically you're getting better right subject would be your like my went to bed I woke up that is interesting but they at least recorded they were more lively or more awake during the day they recorded more lively more weight less spousal complaints and they showed in a hypoxia thing overnight that improved by yeah now that's pretty awesome so even when you think you're sleeping unfortunately many people just simply aren't so the combined analysis of sleep-related outcome should I moderate to very large effect of didgeridoo playing the conclusion is regular didgeridoo playing is an effective treatment alternative well accepted by patients with moderate obstructive sleep apnea so that I started get more into it and I realize that there's multiple studies on this and in fact they did a feasibility study with the VA population with those that have known sleep apnea so they took this cohort of people that are in the VA and that the using resources for their obstructive sleep apnea on the today if you were given a didgeridoo what would be the likelihood that you would at least try and do this for your charges about me and I had like a two third response for this again we want to go ahead and try to so there were try to see if this be feasible to proceed with a large study so they emailed like 300 or the mail 344 surveys so exciting that like 67% of the people expressed interest that they would consider doing something like this so how do you play the so babble I don't know it looks like a wide birthed woodwind instrument and I would imagine it would be similar to a brass instrument and only you can see on the camera on and try point right there you can come see Ellie down it's a big hole this looks like it's the mouthpiece I'm assuming it's more narrow than the big one right so I would give you a six step practice of mastering oh mastering mastering what outbursts were skipping straight at past novice like in three minutes okay I am going to have you actually try to think what song I could get you to play in the did you know yeah I mean anything by the Eagles I'm sure a lot of function is 80 take Seattle chaotic cake yeah they all of those bands often featured injury do I mean most you know I read this note back in the day when via trauma do find the music they all started out as didgeridoo and then they would build that then it would convert to guitar converted to percussion and everything that was that lady said that that that 50 stand on the didgeridoo I know I was still I was really depressed off that Bohemian Rhapsody I mean that's how they started with didgeridoo they can show that Freddie Mercury getting to seem his overbite prevented him from playing I know I know all of that is true so this thing here is that you have to do something else circular breathing okay okay so circular breathing is something work in I apparently and most what instruments I don't know this but the didgeridoo it's centuries it's essential for didgeridoo play maintaining pressure out of the mouth while inspiring to the notes trying 100% you nailed it right there so this is accomplished by storing air in the mouth inflating of the cheeks must be style okay and using this reservoir of air to SP inhale through the nose while air is still coming out of the mouth circular breathing is key to didgeridoo playing because it allows for continuous drones remain unbroken so I believe that if the circular breathing that forces your posterior pharynx to tighten up even you don't really have to play the didgeridoo is good is Freddie Mercury couldn't before he to Bohemian Rhapsody cry but what you can do is race master the circular breathing and then once you get to do that you need to breathe through your nose with inflated sheets I did find a website that described practicing this in the shower where you trying to spit water out while you breathe through your nose that trained you on the exact motion to do it to fill your mouth up with water in your spirit just like a little stream of water wall your breathing through your nose and that is actually circular breathing okay it's I got some YouTube things were I saw some of some different people doing and they can maintain a tone for like minutes just sound like one continuous breath it's really cool so what you can do is you can help your nose exhale through your mouth with inflated sheets now as you inhale to the nose while squeezing the air out of your mouth the way to make that sound is to start out with a like you'd like the yoga breathing were they just do like I love you ever done yoga with a talk about that we do that you sho
Kiran Krishnan is a microbiologist that has made huge waves in health and microbiome science. Well beyond concepts, Kiran has helped engineer, create, and study Spore probiotic delivery systems. It is incredibly unique in that before Microbiome Labs' data, there was almost no conclusive evidence to demonstrate probiotic efficacy en vivo (in humans/living animals). Kiran shares with GCP the basics of natural vaccination that we all should be doing everyday.https://microbiomelabs.comhttps://gutcheckproject.comhttps://kbmdhealth.comhttps://lovemytummy.com/spoonyHey hi Mandy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did start going on again and we got all kinds of good on this is kind of exciting show because we did a remote location with a really really cool guy Kieran Krishnan get on condition and get on so we ended up taking all of our equipment down to IFN that's the functional medicine meeting and we film the podcast with him and I think it's fantastic it really is some of the coolest microbiology an incredible explanation so the second hour or second hours are to be amazing and it's so cool this is actually really cool because we can look into the future and say we know 100% that we are going to deliver in the second hour because he did an awesome job there's lots of eye-opening anecdotes that I will call them anecdotes they would they were just new in concept the way that he said the but the look back you like it just makes sense it just makes sense he deed he is the backrub microbiologist behind mega spore and it's a spore-based probiotic were going to get into that whenever we have them on the show here and I think if if you have ever been interested in taking a probiotic absolutely have to listen to this because he has a lot of evidence about the industry probiotics how many people are making probiotics that are really not on the up and up and that we know where the product is coming from oh we covered that we covered why a soil baseboard biotic is much better and then with deep dive into the science of how it does so I really really like that that whole podcast that we did with them I did to if you are new to the gut check project this is the gotcha project with your host Dr. Ken Brown we check our egos at the door because nothing is off the table and you may already want to know I saw your post we can Winfrey outrun teal and keeping the CBD so let's just get straight to a doctor can what should they do if they would like to win the signature protection package for signature protection package go to gut check project sign up subscribe share and do they have take a picture of it to get the get enrolled how does it work they want take a screenshot just so that you happen to win when we will draw a winner in the mid part of July actually at least five winners if the if the numbers keep coming in online iTunes like they are now we may have more than five winners which would be great but you can go to iTunes or YouTube search get check project basically subscribe take a screenshot you wish but then go to get your project.com connect let us know that you subscribe and then you're entered that's all there is to it subscribe to let us know get your project.com search for gut check project on YouTube and or iTunes and dad tell a friend about because the more we grow the more giveaway that's all there is to absolutely and if you are enjoying this let us know so that we can keep doing what y'all want to hear about note no doubt so when you reconnect you'll see that you can you can actually suggest guests topics for the show we've already been able to book some in advance with with some of those it suggestion so really looking forward to that today you'll get a glimpse of one of those suggestions they came from a friend of ours named Bridget a little over a year ago when she knew that we wanted to have a show and this this delivers if you've ever really wondered what is it about probiotics that even mean anything and my taking the right one I promise if you're not taking one for mega sport or a mega mega spore a micro biome Lansing to get that right sorry for someone there then you're probably not taking a reputable or a probiotic the can and should prove that it's worth so as we launch the KB empty box we get a lot of feedback from people they will know what's in the box and one of the reasons why you're going to have two really cool things which is trying to heal and mega spore is because in this podcast he explains how the polyphenols not trying to actually augment the spore base biotic and you can improve your health and improve the diversity of your micro biome with that no doubt in on top of that the biggest hang at that you had long ago is how do I even know these probiotics of people are taking are getting to work where I need them to work if you're here ingesting them and their encapsulated in their breaking open the small bowel that the model does cut hole in your billing is pouring a bunch of stuff that is it makes sense he essentially addresses all of that in talks why the science behind spore-based probiotics is the answer so I went on Melanie Avalon's new show called the Melanie Avalon showing I got on Monday and we talked exactly like this that when you listen to guys like Eamonn Quigley who have been studying probiotics for 40 years the thing that he says the best as we can they do amazing things in a petri dish we just can't get them to replicate that in the human body because it's very very complex we get into big detail about how that actually happens how many people have we had come to the G.I. clinic who have said I had G.I. distress or whatever that whatever sentiment was happy but I had G.I. distress and then begin to take a probiotic and it went away for a little while and then after name the time interval for weeks six weeks 12 weeks whatever it is suddenly they returned to that feeling of the symptoms and often times what I hear is it was worse and so basically it's your the idea environment applying what Kant said correctly is that taking the wrong delivery system of probiotics is actually just dumping bacteria would know doesn't necessarily belong so when I see these people with really bad natural overgrowth say hello and they start taking the way worse that gives me a hint of what's going on sure the Cedars-Sinai protocol Dr. Pimentel is a little let the patients take probiotics now to Ron has some great research showing that the spore based biotics can actually help with leaky gut intestinal permeability I think it's funny because patients go oh I've tried probiotics before but that's a lot like when people say oh I tried to CBD before right and the like I didn't get any response Michael CBD is a lot like the supplement industry there's a lot of products out there which they do not show in the manufacturing process is not on the up and up so that's how come we see some of the people to take the KB MD CBD and the like wow I really feel a huge difference and it's because we know exactly with with a certificate of analysis how many milligrams is actually in the and we know we do a whole series of videos about why your body needs CBD tell me about the dosing of CBD so if any of you have any questions about that you have with CBD sent them over so that we can do videos and put them out there and trying to educate my job here is to educate everyone on the science of these different things always know the gut check project check your ego at the door and start relearning everything and that's what I had to do a CBD that's what I'm doing with probiotics right woman launching his boxes as part of it so the first box that were that were launching the ingredients that we put in there the Meigs point out front children work together and there there to begin to heal your gut then I put in life extension comprehend the digestive enzymes so that you can make sure that you can absorb all your micronutrients I want to protect your brain and we put in their organic tumor from Omega and they have is really cool blend of putting an animal which has been shown to help with insulin sensitivity and ginger which is been shown to help with digestive issues so those four things right there and then we threw in something really cool something called truancy try our US II now I recently I replied discover this because my patients were told me about it and member boxers saying that so many of the other influencers were having really good success with its Western look of the science micronized hydrogen as it turns out micronized hydrogen nanoparticles of hydrogen can actually help at a cellular level decrease inflammation so here were protecting your gut and then all these things added upward and thrown a couple of the really cool products a lot of people take apple cider vinegar so we went with Vermont Village organic flavored apple cider vinegar that actually taste good and the special guest from or special gift from me to everyone that signs up in addition to that we should say that anybody that signs up for the KPMG member box we do not have CBD in it yet because there's a lot of regulatory stuff going on but you will be given a discount is that correct they can I resend you sign up you'll get access that nobody else gets on CBD with KPMG CBD being a certified COA product already so you know that it's authentic it's already priced is the best value high quality CBD bits available anyhow simply sign up for the KPMG box KPMG box.com you will then be able to get price access to KB MD CBD that's not available on really anywhere on the web so absolutely and so this is legitimate still the old adage membership has its privileges except that's what were trying to do to be of the community when you get on that you're getting $250 with the product sent to you they are going to get IC work in my patients that's the key to this is that I see these things work or adding a little bit more and it's over $103 savings so you like to be able to find these products cheaper anywhere they come right to you and then with the feedback we get working to continue to evolve organ to get more products and were to be able to add more work to get me it's gonna be really fun in addition to being able to get discounts on CBD just add to it so simply what what I believe can you're saying is that this is an opportunity if you take supplements whatsoever that you're going to get settlements that work going to get them all for a price it is inaccessible to essentially like Costco for healthcare providers is as suggestions right and then we don't just talk about the science or the claims on the label weeks we essentially just tell you all of the benefits that it can be scientifically proven for this product that's in there what actually is happening for you is your benefit correct exactly and then when you sign up you get access to this big marketplace so Rivard had several people that built in addition to what's already getting the writing a few other things and and this is gonna be a really fun exciting time as we launch this it's an opportunity to change the landscape of health I want to see what happens with people I would love to see will go back into the regular doctor and find out that these great things are happening like oh my my insulin sensitivity is improving because we know that multiple products in their actually help with that oh and sleeping better just know that the magnesium in the truancy can help with that working to start doing that and then as we get feedback from everybody were you learn hey can you do something and similar patients of Artie been asking about this hey I have a I take a supplement for my eyes anyway that we can get on their gnomelike reward are working to get that product on this marketplace so that you can get it at a huge discount so it's good to be a really really fun exciting hopefully life-changing experience for anybody that signs up this is essentially an environment where it is totally consumer driven it's done for the benefit of the consumer and it's essentially like walking to the store saying this work for me does this work for me and then turning back to a physician insane I would suggest this one actually I don't know so much about that one and which is really cool and that's what a lot of people are looking for whenever the china shop and then everybody that's involved in this community there's a lot of other healthcare providers we've got gynecologic experts would get functional medicine doctors we got chiropractors we have health nutritionists and were all bouncing ideas off each other so I can find out that's our thought about truth he actually right like now you you have to try this it's awesome and it's incredible to value that were getting on that so this is going to be really neat I just want to see this happening of course percent money back guarantee go to KPMG box.com check it out check it out well to move forward Dr. Brown I didn't want before we got down to the topics I was going to ask you what's going on with the oldest tennis player and your family so Lucas Lucas right now is with his coach in Haverford Pennsylvania playing in IETF which is the International tennis Federation it's the I guess it's 18 and under Junior pro circuit were international people can come from all over it's a grass court tournament so these pictures are just beautiful is it some country club yes were all white just like your going to Wimbledon right Wimbledon has the same rules so they treat it just like that and he's doing really well apparently this grass surface suits his game because he is in the semifinals playing tomorrow he's got today off and then play in the semifinals tomorrow so and the boys can be playing as a is from Thailand okay and he he lives in Florida at one of the at one of the Database and Seleucus knows of him to his boy to start accounted go round is a few years older but the own so hopefully we'll see what happens but I'm just probably got here all the way on grass yet picture that you show this like they're playing on a bentgrass greenhead is out things ready Heck yeah I mean levels doesn't look like a lie would be Arctic adeptly but straight for the whole but yet is that is wild is beautiful with the boys for me are just it's all about taking a break from basketball next week being 4 July just after the listeners we won't have a live show next week because the fourth is on Thursday and have family and I are are going take a break and have two out to Colorado for a couple days to get out of the heat in Texas which actually has been a bad so far this year but I while we were getting ready for the show something I thought was really funny have we been looking at or hearing so much about how people found meat replacements have you seen this in new commercial or for RVs it was on online so we just look this up somebody texted Eric said yeah this is a check out the new Arby's Arby's unveils vegetables made from meat where there they now have meat carrots sort of a fight back against the whole but it's the amazing what's what's everybody doing Usha Patrick what had there is beyond beyond meet an impossible barter that since this is the fight back you have the lease they basically took me shape it is a ^ relevant ^ dusted and cooked it pretty it's pretty it's pretty interesting pretty awesome but Rob Wolf is the one who shared that when I was really fun that is funny so one would also really funny this past weekend that so what it was out of town and while she was out I decided to be a good hobby in those who are your car detailed and so I took it and Mike did the whole just keep it for a few hours they did the inside and out. You know the full on detailing proud of myself I go to pick it up driving home I don't drive a car very often and I clipped a curb or a pothole or something is went white and next and I blew a big old hold that tire nicely as so awesome it's only some found out that her accurate roadside assistance had run out and I had canceled that on our insurance because we have accurate roadside assistance why would I need that right so had neither some told this thing to tire shop on the it was on Saturday night told it left it discount tire whatever was going to fix it the next day will are closed on Sunday and I saw Lloyd arrive Sunday night not only are you mentally cannot brag about me washing the car detailing the car it's I pretty much screwed it up so it's that there will have to do tomorrow hey man it was the intention it matters thank you hope yeah exactly well what he got didn't say in the corner I know that we got you have kicked back and forth a bunch of really cool article this last week and I didn't really know which direction you're going to go today because there's a lot there but once you had lead off with your favorite one so far well usually it's thing there's been a lot of recent news there was Melanie Avalon and I actually talked about this one which I think nobody should lose take take a look at churn and realize something there's two studies published in the British medical Journal were looked at how when people take really, refined diets that all cause mortality increases significantly and there was another study with a look that were cardiovascular events goes up so then they started looking at what it does to the micro bio just just for clarity for for refined diets were talking talking about things where people have refined sugars refined carbohydrates things that have been bleached crack like flour etc. right there were some of the so what they're actually looking at is anything that's that has that been said impacted the happy stabilizers and chef Patrick could probably expand on this but they're looking at that most of these things have emulsifiers in them they have lots of sugar and a very interesting concept they usually decrease the amount of fiber content and the reason for that is is that fiber keeps you full this is and encourage you to keep popping the chinos or whatever so check Patrick do you know what an emulsifier is when they're doing with the processed foods Yemen there and there a lot of that that but it's a binding agent modified food starch is things like that yeah it said there chemically in its natural substance chemically modified to be cheaper – you need less of it so the date they work really well as a thickening or something at texture to to breads or things like that so what they showed as these emulsifiers so those three things the emulsifier actually damages your good micro biome and then the sugar feeds bacteria that allow them to grow more the lack of fiber means that your micro biome does not use that as a prebiotic so you diversity decreases so you don't have the benefit of having your micro biome Hope you so not only do we now know that that definitely increases cardiovascular risk and all cause mortality now we've got molecular reasons of how it messes with your micro bio so it's kind of a fascinating thing because they what they showed is that when these bacteria get hurt by the emulsifier they do not they cannot break down the prebiotic's which then allows the bacteria to produce short chain fatty acids which your body works and uses as fuel in in the colonic cells so becomes this very vicious cycle that replacement of fiber I would imagine would also increase the glycemic index then of those foods making them also more dangerous correct 100% what they showed is by not having the short chain fatty acids float around inflammation in your body goes up tested so they show these animal models that cortisol and CRP go up that the reactor protein yeah and what that does this is your goal of this they showed it was the first time I've seen this that when your cortisone CRP goes out you actually block the information walks your response to leptin growling is the hormone that makes you hungry leptin conventional full so you open up a package of something you start eating and you start get in the habit of doing that on a regular basis you change your micro bio you are not decreasing in not allowing your own bacteria to help you decrease the inflammatory response of anything in short chain fatty acids go down you will get hungrier you eat more of it more of the bacteria that like that start putting out signals and so a lot of times these are when people like and why can't I quit eating this junkfood there's a cycle going on in all of this were now seeing on a cellular level what's actually happening where huge explanation so if you if if you're experiencing already some inflammation you can see it doesn't have to be anything terrible but if you have acne it obviously feeding it more of a refined food diet would simply just be feeding into the inflammation process that you're currently experiencing right exact so you got a child at home maybe this even just these four minutes is worth watching on why you need to steer away from sugary cereals for breakfast or why you need to not come straight home and turned straight to a bag of chips or something else like that because you're going to not the you not to feel full and there the right way and you're just going to can keep consuming really bad calories you wake up and you take in and those cereals that such a great example we talked about that before the show were I grew up in fruity pebbles and stuff like that I cringe at screens where is he striking about it now and now we know that your not feeding your bacteria what it really needs which polyphenols work really well to feed your bacteria we know that fiber does that as well so that you can have a very diverse micro bound the key is to have a diverse micro bio they showed that the more people that eat this they have a much more narrow spectrum so you do not have the benefit of that microbiota you want your left in response so you're always kinda hungry you never really feel full and then let's take it up once that they didn't get into this but I that she had some patients that were food chemists working for I don't I don't member Frito-Lay or some like I actually work on having more likely it's an emulsifier now that I think about it to slide more easily so that the food goes down quicker so that the Fritos go down quicker all that stuff so there's a lot of science being put into it to trying get people to open up bags and then their engineering to make you dependent upon their crappy food and it's not gonna benefit you in the long term it's so weird I mean it's actually nuts like it at some point we have to start getting involved in not letting companies destroy the general health they have the money to take out the money to make beat carrots yeah so you have these companies out there doing that and it's an uphill battle wrist we do know the epidemic of childhood obesity everything else the activities is that will yeah that that is something to do with it but what if were really messing ourselves up on a cellular level that were not even paying attention to it's so hard in the grassroots level if you're not I just like you hug I grew up on really sugary cereals I mean I'm sure if you termite clock of wouldn't want to do that it also it it's like how do you move forward how to educate your kids and for the most part I would say even though my both of my boys feel it's incredibly boring for breakfast for them weight Marine I just don't buy that that Stuff and ironically supply as well escaping the CBD simply by going to iTunes or YouTube or both and subscribe and share and then go to get check project.com and let us know that you did it that's all you have to do do all those things Dr. Brown these are things you see I should add that that's the signature package there is what we call the signature package skills what might what I'm trying to do is bridge the gaps and bring traditional science into natural places and right now I think that what were lacking a lot of is just data and science on CBD there's so much confusion about the reason why the signature package is because we know that the polyphenols in front he'll actually decrease the enzyme that breaks down your own and a cannabinoid site and this is that they work together to increase so that's what I was seeing in my practice when people take the CBD and otter until they feel markedly better there was there so many things to get to like there is a recent article were it was looking at how CBD actually is very effective against superbugs better than antibiotics science is pretty thick on that go to KB MD health.com sign up for KB MD box and we were to continually update that site with a lot of science new science and everything but there's another article that I found little bit more interesting than I want to cover and note out let's get to that article just died just for those who haven't done it yet because it grows every single day KPD health.com which is why you find such a project.com etc. just simply sign up for the newsletter over the next three weeks the transition is going to be huge what what kids talk about is that from KB MD were going to be able to put the science were actually the science has been explained behind polyphenols CVD diet it's for you it's for free but it's for you to be more educated spend your money more wisely stay more healthy that's really what this whole things about and we have the ability to find a lot of articles a lot of my colleagues like will there's no science Alyssa Mike no no no no there's so much science on this you just have to know where to look and you have have access to a lot of these articles right so if anybody has questions like hey what can do you have you had any springs of receiving the articles on what it does for skin issues for instance like your dermatologist does as this have any background on things like that psoriasis eczema acne all kinds of different issues oh have you seen any benefit with rheumatology words are from Bruce her arthritis word osteoarthritis will not make any claims here what I'm saying is that working to find studies and see and they had just like we did with the photo bio modulation just like we did with the stem cells we can find this stuff and really saved now this makes sense absolutely I mean really that's that was the whole idea why you started caving to health in the first place is just find a place where people can turn these the same questions that come to the G.I. clinic every single day and so now we got a place where people can turn it start find some real answers speaker questions this morning I was working out poses new Joe Rogan's podcast and he had Bob Lazar on yeah that's a space so there's a there's a new Netflix movie out there word so will trickle UFO and saucers or something I think it even uses his name is UFOs and Balthasar something honest I don't remember exactly what it's called but yeah I lazy and hours avoiding exact figure just to be one of those conspiracy type things but no ma'am he on Joe Rogan the guy sounded like he was looked legitimately scarred from the whole experience in yeah I don't want to be pain but I'll I really, want to talk to Mildred more debt than on TV has any pictures because I thought it was really honestly it seemed it seemed sincere maybe if he's that good at holding that that form for almost 4 decades and while but I mean he's he said the stores were really really long time Dennis really messed them up yeah I mean he's any heat honestly was saying I don't want to be here but I need to get the story out and while he was on Joe Rogan show it was like he was bragging or anything I was weird listening to another podcast Kim of the comedian's name is on XM radio but they were kind of trying to debunk all that and say that he was just is just crazy I'm reading an article that just came out said film on Netflix finds UFO whistleblower baubles are seeming less crazy than ever yeah will admit the funny thing is even just two decades ago and I can't remember exactly what all of them were but similar like bone scans identification systems and the fact that he said that there was a certain isotope of the hydrogen that he knew existed before and they had been scientifically denied but it turns out that a handful of the things that he declared that he had seen before are suddenly now available the bone scan machine that he described exactly as he described it is now available the isotope of hydrogen that he described almost 3 and half decades ago everyone said didn't exist sudden exist now and it's really neat he's basically like I find this is a point of vindication I have stuck to the story and that's all been documented in fact they even say they who have the proverbial they is scrubbed his name as he claims he described his name as being a student in attendance at a few different it's so that's with the other podcasts talk about the light how can you just have no measures only exist they scrubbed his name from going to MIT or something like that it was a and Cal poly Cal poly and MIT on the scrub is named after the service and the like that is impossible somebody would've known him wreck that's how come they think that he may just be craziness in his own story and sticking to it but how is there nobody else saying hey I knew that guy would school with him here she went here that's the weird part is there is there's there's people who assigned affidavits who are listed as all real students who said that yeah he was totally in school with us so it's I don't know it's a very bizarre and promising new nothing about it until I heard that same podcast I nine so I'm starting to put that yellow color online from Alpha Centauri waiting on them back to Nelly I've spent a lot of time watching videos on YouTube no no I haven't any but it's interesting it's a fascinating story he is especially I seen the new Netflix shows that were in the watch that Check Out Joe Rd. in Charlotte is what you are she watched both and I think the Joe Rogan episode is probably more informative findings that the Netflix thing is okay but the hearing Bob is talking his own voice I found far more interesting and certainly in terms the validity would be more compelling and quite honestly fencing the Netflix thing first I don't know how much Otto believed yeah he just need to seem far more genuine than just the longform phone interview Joe Rogan is such a great host he really is he saying to her and intuitive question so that without question well I to change his story over 30 years picture the phone call there yet Patrick can we only got 20 minutes we get Karana on going to hit the yeah yeah I will hit the so much like Bob Lazar said he goes this is the stuff were looking at it just could be that they like to be dumped a motorcycle on the on the street in Victorian times people are to poke around that it somebody may figure out how to turn it on this kind were he was saying that I do know there's so much will in science we do the exact same thing were to talk this next hour with Quran and probiotics in spore-based biotics because micro bombs are really big deal now after until is NSF certified that is certified for sport the reason why that's a big deals because were making sure that we get no doping agents inherent giant athletes pro athletes College athletes there's all this reaction to anti-doping and everybody keeps putting new things on the list I got a new one for you okay probiotics may become anti-doping things really if they can figure this out there so if you had what you're saying is that you can test positive for probiotics there is a chance that I would become a flag there was they were referencing that there was and I don't remember what it was but they whatever sport it was a female had much higher levels of testosterone probably curling up in public but they said for her to continue to compete at the Olympic level she has to actually decrease her testosterone by taking some sort of testosterone blocker because whatever so that there's lots of different things that can be performance enhancers what this study that just came out June 24 in nature what it talked about his elite athletes gut bacteria give Road runners a boost so this group was looking and it's pretty funny to think about the tension with anti-doping I just wonder if this will suddenly pop up on the anti-doping list what they showed is that proportions of certain bacterial species increase after endurance athletes have completed a marathon furthermore this type of bacteria that increases breaks down lactic acid and produces another compound called propionic lactic acid is what makes your muscles tired and sore and weak propionate can be used as a fuel so then I looked at another group of people and this was a series of 15 runners that their look at the Boston Marathon and they found that they look at another group on some a bunch of very elite rowers Ro's of in Olympic trials and they got very similar result basically this type of bacteria called Velma Nella or villanelle at a Tippecanoe increased in both of these groups of people so Bella Bella atypical appears two have adapted in these elite athletes to break down the lactic acid yeah informed that so is it chicken or the egg right are these people elite athletes because possibly they have a higher proportion of villanelle or did they develop develop mellow in response to constantly increasing the lactic acid in the body while so that's what this group is trying to look at so they ended up taking a bunch of mice put them on of little reels treadmills mice treadmills whatever they're called and they were able to show in the mice if they gave them Bella Nella rectally and orally they actually had decreased amounts of lactic acid now I've done that before I've gone and done I went to the to the try shop and did a whole lactic acid to push yourself as far as you can go and my lactic acid just kept going up and elite athletes it will start to go up in the middle drop because it goes back into the Krebs cycle okay so does that happen because they've got more this melanoma or doesn't happen because their elite athletes and their bodies have adapted I don't really interesting so their ability essentially to of work or outwork others because they function better in an anaerobic state the right no no once they going to anaerobic state than the lactic acid gets put back into the Krebs cycle so it can be used as fuel again okay possibly converted to now I'm thinking it's possibly being converted to appropriate okay I so I and others a lot more to it but what I find really funny is the people that did the study have a new startup called fit bionics fit bionics for bionics bionic microbiology okay right so it is really interesting to sit there there's always a go to market something to try and increase the amount of this particular species and what we do learn in the next hours is how complex it is you really just can't say only take this one I'll go back to Dr. Soltis row study were he showed people with bacterial overgrowth they tend to take probiotics that are lactate producing probiotics okay that's what almost all the probiotics you get over the counter and he showed that lactate cross the blood brain barrier which is one of the reasons why a lot of these people maybe have some brain fog it could be intestinal permeability leaky gut it could be that the lactic acid is increasing we may be using the completely wrong species maybe we should be using this species to get rid of the lactic acid and produce this propria night so interesting yeah but it's it's going to be now if you be a race now revisited to others a probiotic for sleep this a probiotic for endurance and once again it still has to make it all the way through the intestinal tract and get Rick and start of dividing more and increasing the diversity you can't just do one memory of 100 trillion bacteria in your colon over thousand species this is what this is little of the marketing hype is been around over to skim through this want you to do all kinds of things that part is a make a lot of sense either that or just to simply take a bacteria or probiotic just for one desired effect of what you would want even for sleep and no doubt that someone will market like that but it all comes down to the biodiversity of that bacteria anyhow could you if you were to load up theoretically on sleep bacteria will then would you just have lethargy all of the times he sensei not exist to make sense it's marketing on everything on every single line so this is a mouse study where they said that so they took humans they checked her poop and they go oh these guys have higher part they have a higher percentage of this particular species that must mean something then were to go to rodents were to give it to we know that trying to replicate in a mouse model in the human models extremely difficult it's the closest thing we can have because there you can't keep humans in cages and you don't control her diet will look all that other stuff so there's a lot of other studies I've seen with a like oh this particular group had higher levels of this and they were skinnier so this is going to be a weight-loss probiotic so it becomes a marketing game with the science being really difficult to prove it is mastered adding that their research that makes sense to keep doing that did you see the article he came out I just was last week were two people died from fecal transplant now some super unfortunates the first time that people have had bad outcomes from people transport you ever get real excited about the microbiota transplants and if you don't know what this is as a whole new field of science were people taking one person's poop and they emulsify it and they put it in one way or the other there's a lot of different ways to do it either through a kaleidoscope or you can go way into the small bowel and push it through more and just dead just to cover the whole array want there some people who taken frozen capsules of the of poop and then and then just basically ingesting it like normal and then that idea was it with all yeah yeah so the idea would be there with thought you'd always through my partner Dr. Stuart Ackerman what he was doing is she was getting he was getting stool from this NIH grants location were there collecting school from people they do all the make sure that there's no diseases or anything in the they bring it back and then they injected it's frozen emulsified as it goes down with the scope way into the small bowel and then just pushes it beyond the stomach acid beyond the pancreatic and where would normally all get killed its way down and there's this part on seeking go and that's what that's what he was doing but that's been shut off because the cost of the poop has gone so high that the nurse on an island or something happened where regulations are coming in the cost to test it for all these other found my game yet became prohibitive so now you know we all have poop and now it's a controlled the FDA is they made it a they wanted when the FNT first came out they wanted everyone start applying for a new drug indication just poop it's poop but enforces a big setback because two people died but apparently the prepaid toxigenic E. coli on it they didn't realize that so they took one person give to other people would use a lot in the hospital for C diff infections okay so if you take antibiotics not only can you just disrupt your micro biome but you cannot actually allow one particular species to dominate yet the dominant cold seat of Clostridium difficile and and if you ever had a relative or you've ever experienced that it is not fun and hard to get rid of the fecal transplants were working very very successful for that so it's it's unfortunate but this the first time that we had no bad outcome so people are trying to figure out how to work with this microbiota it's almost like we have the ability to test but we don't really know what to do with it Peter Peter Addie it was talk about this on one of his podcasts use and yet we have this ability to do this big gene mapping we can do PCR analysis got all these different species and overlooked the runners had this let's do that it's just not that simple at least up until this point must we cracked the code on how to actually figure that part out its own of the game you can you find different things you can detect that learning how to interpret the analysis is as a whole nether probably can alarm just understanding how to apply the science that happens every day so what you think the numbers are if we've lost these two people and they've directly attributed it to the transplant self correct out of how many oh I don't I don't know you rationalize death but the truth is it is a number everything is run through statistics and it's unfortunate that this would be a setback but I say that that we have people who will die today the in several the died yesterday in the day before that from opioid abuse and that's not stopped anybody from administering that so when you when you look at then you put it in in those kinds of of boxes it is unfortunate now we can move forward in and make certain that this doesn't happen but the fact that that really famous kid back in the 80s Ryan White who died from AIDS from a blood transfusion bleeding stop doing blood transfusions because of that we learned how to get better at doing blood transfusions yeah I think that the cycle things if if they can be sensationalized it then it's going to make the moves and fecal microbial transplants are always something that is gonna make the news because people just go what in the world and they want to read more about it than when asked questions about it been in my field for years and years decades we been trying to figure out what actually do without you know there was the their study that came out I believe is out of Yale where they took poop from skinny my scared to fat mice the fat mice got skinny and vice versa than that led to this whole study there actually trying to do this at Brigham Young's University and I will say just got published but it really didn't didn't have any weight loss affects all really desolate it worked in mice got all excited your own fun skinny people got tight trying to poop the other they got all excited that that's what was going happen but it looks like the results of work it's really interesting I wonder what the parameters were around it because I I can I figured it wouldn't be necessary that you just simply metabolize food differently it may have to also it may also include what are you can foods do you desire by having that type of bacteria inside so it is small level where mice don't make a whole lot of decisions I guess you could say they may just eat a little bit less with that fecal transfer but maybe the reason why it didn't necessarily work in this one experiment Brigham Young is because people are still left to their own their own devices or vices whenever they're out there and they can contaminate the sample that they take to buy say love get the bacteria on still going to go to fill in the fast food chain restaurant or I should lose weight I back at the bacterium now that's a really good observation because you would almost have to have them in a cage to do this because just as we talk about your left and still in blunted and do not do your document feel full you may be taking in more cows have ever done it like I did my fitness pal thingy Jack Kerry and I were doing that Bruce was log all the food but it became really cumbersome but I was eating way more calories and I thought yeah like you to sit down and up around 2500 revenues keep adding them up you like, get the handful of almonds that you walk by throw down to hundred percent you look back you try to write off the day like that's the anomaly in the realized that days just like the day before and he put forth that now I'm guilty that Rhonda Patrick just came out with a podcast with her on telomere specials telomeres are the kind of tells our age right that it's the end caps of the chromosomes and as we age they decrease and they were looking at things that directly affect the telomere length stress cortisol sugar refined foods lack of bacterial diversity same stuff that were always talking about actually can speed up the aging process so telomeres can be damaged each time basically that ourselves replicate and what we don't want from all the things you just listed is telomere shortening because that that enables the sales to age more quickly and basically if it is I understand the DNA just does not get replicated in the future with the new the new daughter cells deliver younger cells in there that's another complex thing when we are at I effeminate if you remember that but there's booths were people check your telomere length and have been not only was it real well that's what Ron was talk about when she there's so many different ways of to be affected what lab it is what you going to do with the information and now there's companies out there that are selling products to increase to llama race decreased farmers I remember whatever you think it's increased telomerase which is an enzyme that kinda protects the telomere this and just go off, have gas podcast just it's really a menu notes Rhonda Patrick sure super sightseeing geeky and with that we don't know because sometimes you want shortening as if it's a cancer cell you want that you want the body to recognize that and it'll go away and that way you don't have because cancer cells will grow so fast that you need that shortening to prevent that from happening so we don't know try to mess with telomeres is going to do something like that but the same thing keeps coming around over and over and over if you get sleep eat right you feed your micro bomb what it needs like polyphenols like spore base biotics then decrease the information with CBD then all of that your body will figure out what to do so sometimes whatever we thought articles were people going only wanted this one probiotic and you can run faster really overthinking maybe if we just kind of got rid of those refined foods the emulsifiers in the high sugar and all that stuff a huge take away here is that you can if you step back you realize that there are there are real researchers that want to make things happen that the crazy unfortunate thing is oftentimes a marketer was simply just take the data and then want to be the first to make something happen rather than make certain that the science is solid or a company has a good product and they just won a race to get out and get a second product that doesn't necessarily burying value without having the research back behind it and honestly it's that that's the really cool part of being a part of KB MD health and KBS is that we we've always tried to make certain that the data is solid for eight do no harm be sure that you can help someone before you just turn a product loose now you make me feel bad because I'm actually scratching out abdominal discomfort and putting decrease veil and Ella and then underneath that protector tell me the only product available with you faster and younger trying to get your telesales cereal today exactly that out I don't know it it's it that you don't want to paint a picture of the whole world going dark but each but if you're listening just protect yourself when you if I go to these conferences and you listen to somebody scientist like vulture long ago and these guys are doing the research and like when Rhonda Patrick talks and such and panda it's very well this is what we saw we believe this is this we can extrapolate that it's real great it's not like you see when you're talking to a marketer like privilege and will increase your memory and it's like well and wait a minute's backup was little to the studies these guys are out there and all these PhD's there not that will I find them fun but sometimes is not up on the listen to them cry don't really land on anything the light that we kind of think this is what's happening what image frustrating to the general public and in their pioneers and is probably a lot like a Lewis and Clark they made their way through their just mapping they're not necessarily saying that everything's going to be roses by the time they get out to out to the West Coast right I mean they were just finding their way there they just basically charted as it came along we talked last week about all those medical reversals where they were looking all theatrical reversals they had three they found out in the Lancet New England Journal of medicine in JAMA that when they looked back at trials they showed that 369 straight up medical reversals has taken place like we talked about where we thought estrogen was really good for every woman take a bunch that we realized it was actually increasing heart attacks so it's really complex and it's hard to sit there and say okay let's look at an article this bacteria can increase running and there immediately when I would I guess I would too if I was the scientists are like weeds do a startup right now so during the startup called for bionics but it's no different than the multibillion dollar industry that is probiotics if you talk to Dr. Quigley that's not how he describes it he just says we hope that they they were great when he say they were great in a petri dish that we just cannot seem to replicate it consistently in humans right and that's this policy that leads right into the next thing Quran Krishnan is here to explain the real data in the application in humans on what the correct type of probiotic delivery system can do for you I this is you've heard me talk like this for so long as the first time a microbiologist is going to know exactly know your you're right and here's why right this is and I studied this and so I'm really excited to get this kind information out there and very pleased that were teaming up with them for our member box so that we can put the two together and you'll see why they work together but I think it's really cool be sure to like and share the gut check project if there's anything that you want to take away from you today show you can just show the next hour to anybody who's ever been exposed to probiotics ever whatsoever you'll learn a ton I know promised we are here in San Antonio with Karen Krishnan of micro biome labs makers of mega spore and 35 other private labels right yeah I am a busy this is a busy man yeah got a lot of science behind it is a lot of people that like what they do with probiotics and it's a completely new way of using probiotics can rethink that well what I think for starters I just got a text from your mom did I'm done she's always listening and I will need to apologize to all investors just in case you don't like the sound level it's because I'm doing it and I don't know exactly how the engineer now here's the really really bad engineer Jeff Chef Patrick sorry as best we can do so were over here at the IFN conference in San Antonio and we you and Eric have met before different conferences I love the work that you guys are doing yellow to start with us who are you so we are a band of super nerds that that are battling the revolution that is going on within the right so we we know that and this is a way to explain it to people all the time if you look at the human construct were essentially a microbial system we are the fancy word for it for those I want to impress your friends as holo- bio hello Viola volume we are super organism were no moral can we think of ourselves as a collection of organ systems of the brain and in her lungs and heart and all I connected by neurons and vessels we are a walking talking rain forest is what we are right we are an organism made up of thousands of other organisms that have to work in concert to perpetuate the health of the collective that's what the that's what all environments make it's like a ring for Savior look at a rain forest the canopy the floor every part has a different ecology and if any of those ecologies get damaged the entire ring for sufferers so we can trace back now virtually every chronic disease to some disruption in our ecology so in our thinking we are a microbial construct were made up of microbes we've taken this amazing microbial constructs and we put ourselves in an antimicrobial world like so we've really shot ourselves in the flick like crazy everything around us destroys our inner ecology and that leads to disease somewhere here fighting that whole problem in revolution of bringing back our ecology ecology fixing the rain forest I love that I was taught I was tell my patients about I've never use the word hole while I say multi-bile talk about just your micro biome there's other things going on your exactly what we are do we live for the multi-biome or does the multivolume live for us yeah you know if you look at the evidence and you look the history essentially we are an accident because of the multifile right so even the human cell is constructed of ancient bacteria write the eukaryotic human cell is basically a concert of ancient bacteria which at which make up our what sort I'm having to bring forth the energy production of the sound might've come in my country is so ancient back arrow essentially individual mitochondria that all came together to form a eukaryotic cell building nucleus surrounded also you guys in a way back we were going back to the beginning of time rice like where all of this started from we don't understand that and how do we understand how the lungs and dutiful nice so just going back to the simplicity of it because as it turns out when we start looking at these unique multicellular organisms that we are when where a small population of what's living in the universe are there in the world we don't know what's living Universalist living on earth most of it are single cellular organisms I'm also living entities are single cellular's will relook at multicellular organisms when we look at how multicellular organisms communicate from one cell to the other all of those rules are written by single cellular organisms you know hormones for example most people are surprised to know that our micro biome and the got produces virtually every hormone or endocrine system can make writing all of the serotonin's ANOVA means all of the stress hormones all of insulin estrogen and testosterone all that is made by Mike Bynum as well in the end the thinking is that that our micro biome actually taught our endocrine system how to make those hormones so the bacteria provided the DNA code to our endocrine system to figure out how to make hormones and accurately using hormones for millions of years to communicate with one another and so we now use hormones to communicate with in our body itself this is so fascinating because in my field the micro biome is a relatively new concept in traditional medicine and here you're talking about that the micro bio actually taught our bodies how to organize how to live in the world how to move that is fascinating because what we think about it the way that other people talk about all it's so complex we don't know that you just dumbed it down to you know it's actually so simple visits and darted yeah with just one cell that you follow Mr. I'm following in what I think is awesome is its way it does seem like it is so simple however it's not just the dumbed down version of what you just need some good bacteria is way way way different in that you have to understand I for long time kind of felt like that we are vehicles for this bacteria yeah and everywhere that you go you're basically being driven guy what is indeed the chemical messengers that you referenced we interpret that but is it really completely hours to interpreted not not necessarilyyou know there's evidence of vector making us do things right and and you would think that there is some altruistic reason for them to do it for example there are certain types of bacteria within your my combined that make you more social that make you go out Thanksgiving lead the motivation to go out and meet people and the reason for then you think all why did the back you want me to be more social and that's one of the ways of the transfer from house to house is that if you're not socially antisocial you sit back and back in the Navy set back in your cave all the time by yourself you're really not going up and spreading this Michael this micro bio there are there bacteria out there that connect you change your outlook on life there was a study looking at women who took probiotics versus women that didn't and they took women that the probiotics in the group that didn't and they showed him a bunch of pictures and they were measuring brainwave activity and was showing them like really stressful take pictures things that would bother them normally and they found that the women that took probiotics on a regular basis actually had a less intense emotional response to those pictures so their outlook on life seemed a little bit better than the ones that did you know and so these microbes are dictating a lot of how we even respond to the world around us is fascinating because yes urologist we always I was trying to people to feed their microbiological would eat the diet that your bacteria really should have diverse bacteria and now we have the highest incidence of anxiety of depression mean all were doing is just throwing more and more drugs at it trying to get that to be corrected when the reality is we could balance the bacteria and you know what I really like about this as an excuse for me to go to Vegas with my buddies. Tell me to get out for health that is one of the best places to swap microbial going to Vegas as a sign expression when you all the activ
Download In this episode Kyle sits down with a close friend in the psychedelic space, Lucas Jackson. They have shared many experiences such as Near Death Experiences, leading breathwork workshops, and other similarities. They cover topics such as the Near Death Experience, Ayahuasca experience, Breathwork tools, and accepting death, finding meaning and integrating these exceptional experiences. 3 Key Points: Exceptional experiences are not always euphoric and light, they can also be dark and cathartic and make it difficult to transition back into ‘real life’. Lucas explains his Ayahuasca experience as his darkest and hardest. He felt alone with no help, no one to talk to to help understand it, he felt as if he actually died. But this gave him a realization and acceptance of death. The key to making it through and putting understanding to the dark experiences is having the right tools, such as a community of understanding people, practices such as breathwork, yoga, meditation and just simply coming back to the breath. Navigating Psychedelics Trip Journal Integration Workbook Show Notes About Lucas Lucas' interest in psychedelics started in high school, the books that he read then were influential He had a near death experience at 19 He came down with a lung issue and was in the hospital for 2 months and in and out of different stages of consciousness After that experience his interest for psychedelics and breathwork grew Lucas describes it not totally as a single NDE but more as being so close to death for an extended period of time He says it wasn't mystical and great, coming back to ‘real life’ had some dark qualities Revisiting a Dark Past Lucas says he wrote stuff down when he was in the hospital with a breathing tube and couldn't talk and one day he went through it all and it was very dark and cathartic When he went through and read his past writings, he said that he felt sympathy for the ‘him’ that wrote it He says it is hard to remember the person he was before his experience and illness Breathwork After he dropped out of school, he started up a farm in Vermont and then toward the end of that he started to feel restless and there were synchronicities that led him to breathwork He heard that Stan Grof was going to be doing a talk at a local bookshop and he met Lenny and Elizabeth Gibson He ended up doing breathwork training in New York He explains the experience as more powerful than what he would have imagined He said he wanted to tell everyone about it after the first breathwork experience Kyle says its common with any exceptional experience, people want to run and tell the world Lucas says the sitting was just as powerful as the breathing It's not often that you have someone sit at your side for 2-3 hours giving you full attention Lucas says that his GTT training was supposed to take 2 years and he thought he was going to get through it in 2 years no problem and he is in his 5th year doing the program and he loves the pace Kyle says that part of the training in breathwork is doing your own work Lucas says with this kind of work, you don't get through it and you're done, It's a continuous process Robert Anton Wilson’s ‘maybe’ logic helps Lucas with being okay with not knowing He had a few experiences where he went through a ‘death’ feeling, and then he would let go and blast through this ‘light’ and then feelings oneness and wholeness Ayahuasca Lucas went through the ‘death’ experience and thought it was actually real, he felt complete void and nothingness That experience haunted him for years His ayahuasca experience was really about the purge, letting go of absolutely everything James Fadiman The remoteness of the experience was what he was seeking, being so far removed from everything he had known, everything that made him comfortable The shaman was known for his potency of the brew There is no consistency among the dosage He felt very alone during the experience, he had no help, but it was almost special because it taught him that he is alone always anyway so there was some comfortability with the realization The shaman didn't speak English and the messages that he received through the translator didn't make him feel completely safe about his experience It took him over 3 years of chewing on the content and the questions before feeling somewhat okay Lucas’ advice to anyone wanting to do this is ‘take off, make time for this, you'll need more time than you think’ “I believe that there is a collective pool to tap into, where you're processing the suffering of all, and once you hit that, it's an abyss and you have to surrender. It can be so freeing.” - Lucas Spiritual Emergence Lucas says there wasn't any day or event where he felt like he was going to have to go to the hospital or harm anybody, but it's because he has the correct tools and great community For him, the first experience was fun and exciting and then you want to do more and then you get into the work and the hard stuff "What is, waking up?" - Lucas There's the Ram Dass idea that the tool will fall away when its usefulness has been exhausted Lucas says the tool is having a daily practice, and for him its a breathing practice Grof’s framework was a lifesaver for Lucas “What are you going to do with the reality you are presented with?” - a quote from The Truman Show movie “Even if this is all an illusion, why not make this the best illusion, the best dream?” - Lucas How are we showing up to the world after something so exceptional? Final Thoughts What is this world for? Lucas mentions an Alan Watts video, it says life is like a dance, there is no goal, and then after the dance we sit down “What is the particular thing that we are trying to achieve? General improvement of all humanity sounds like a good goal. Hopefully psychedelics can be a huge tool in moving towards that.” -Lucas Lucas says that he isn't a therapist, but he is available to talk with someone if they may need it. Having an open and welcoming therapist is great, but if they've never had an exceptional experience, it's helpful to talk to someone who has, therapist or not. About Lucas Jackson Lucas has spent his life wandering through inner and outer landscapes, collecting experiences, and sharing those experiences with those closest to him. His outer wanderings have led him to working with earth and plants around the world, including starting a biodynamic/permaculture food forest in Central Vermont. Lucas has also spent time working with people who were experiencing extreme states of consciousness while at Soteria-Vermont and while volunteering with The Zendo Project. The galleries of his inner world are made up of psychedelic musings, astrological insights, and various constellations of esoteric traditions. Lucas holds degrees in Environmental Science and Psychology and is currently pursuing an MA in Religious Studies. Lucas can be reached through his email address at lucasjackson24@gmail.com as well as on Instagram @biodellic.
