In a way, covid potentially accelerated the process of a Physical Education degree transitioning to fully online. We discuss why this continues in some universities and the factors that contribute to it. We also discuss some of the effects we think it is having on graduate teachers and ultimately the effect it may have on students – all because the PE community and others do not value the 3 dimensions of Arnold's model equally. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pwrhpe/support

Lyvita Brooks says her mission in life is "to help people get the clutter out of their lives so they can go and do what God calls them to do." Lyvita is an author, bible teacher, founder of "The Me Project" and host of the podcast "Hanging Out With Jesus."  Lyvita credits her mother for inspiring her to write and love books. The book that my guest recently published, "Nugget's for Thought-A Mother and Daughter's Collection of Poems, Reflections and Flash Fiction About the Life They See," was published after her mother's death but  it was something that the two women had talked about many years earlier. Verdell was often reading and writing and it truely inspired Lyvita.Verdell had this special magic that made each of her students and family members feel as though they were the most important and only person in the world, at that very moment. And her daughter was some what jealous of others taking time away from her being with her mother, including fellow family members. As a Physical Education teacher in the same school that Lyvita attended in Elementary School  made it a little tough for my guest. There were more people competing for  Lyvita's mom's attention and that was sometimes tough on Lyvita."She inspired me to be me, to be Lyvita"  says Ms. Brooks. That was a huge gift to her daughter.   Currently, Lyvita is the host of Hanging Out With Jesus Podcast, founder of The Me Project Academy,  and Owner of LRW Publication, LLC, but God is the CEO of them all.  WEBSITE:lyvitabrooks.comTHE ME PROJECT: https://lyvitabrooks.com/DisplayMe/new-the-me-projecthttps://lyvitabrooks.com/press WEBSITE: lyvitabrooks.com*Host of Hanging Out With Jesus" Podcast• Lyvita's Books: “Nuggets for Thought -A Mother and Daughter's Collection of Poems, Reflections and Flash Fiction About the Life They See”--- result of a young daughter keeping her promise to someday publish her mother's writings. In this episode, we interview Coach Stone, a member of the Nichols community for over forty years. During Stone's youth, many opportunities in sports now available were off-limits to women. Despite this, after excelling athletically in high school, Stone attended St. Lawrence where she studied Physical Education and played sports. Along her journey, Stone played and took leadership roles in basketball, field hockey, and lacrosse, which eventually led her to be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. This podcast focuses on the story of Stone as an athlete, while touching on her coaching at Nichols, the shift of "the game" over time, and much more.   Hosted by Molly Duffett and Brynn Bacak.

Graduating with a Sport Science Degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, which led to training as Physical Education Teacher and working in St. Peter's R.C High School, Gloucester. I joined the school that has a legacy for producing top performers, yet not reaching its potential at a national level, so I set about creating a positive culture around S&C with all young athletes. Since then more expertise was employed, until currently where we have an incredible programme led tremendously by our S&C Coach, and consistently performing at a national level. We have developed a curriculum that identifies talent and sets about making them highly literate athletes, whilst giving opportunity to the majority to develop themselves into competent performers. We are serious about education and passionate about unlocking potential where students are not afraid to make mistakes." Nominate future podcast guests here! Today's bonus episode features "Tiger Talks" produced and created by Caleb Harmel, Lucy Hansen, and Jen Tierney. In the podcast, they interview Nick Cornell (@CampoStrength), a coach and teacher at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, AZ.  During his time as a teacher and coach, Nick has been named the Arizonia Health and Physical Education Teacher of the Year, the Campo Verde High School Teacher of the Year, and the 2019 National High School Strength Coaches Association Arizona High School Strength Coach Of The Year Coach Cornell says that to be a great organization, the focus must be on hiring the right people and that “relationships are key.” He's high energy and his positivity shines through. I love how he describes that great leaders pour into their followers and why people need to feel cared about. Coach Cornell believes that a leader's job is to create other leaders and they do that by helping followers enhance their self-efficacy.  I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did! Asking kids how they feel at the beginning of class to learn of any issues that may be brewing or any emotional needs they may have is critical to better serving the whole child in learning. And that's what we really want, right? To focus on the child as a real person and not just a statistic. This episode is all about another great strategy to connect with and support students. Learn about how Physical Education Teacher extraordinaire Julie Whyte @WhyteJM makes these really creative class check-ins to make sure that every child is ready for learning and gets the extra help they need! Anyone can get a #DisciplineWin like this, but they have to work for it!
