Send us a textIn this episode we journey to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert to have a conversation with two young Catholics on fire with the faith. Genevieve Knight is a 28 year old cradle Catholic born and raised in Rancho Mirage, CA. Though she came from a Catholic background, it was not until the age of 21, while in her third year of college, she experienced a ‘simple, yet deeply profound' encounter with Christ which changed the trajectory of her spiritual life forever. Genevieve shares her story with This Connected not only as a young adult on fire for the Truth, beauty, and goodness of the Catholic faith, but as one who seeks to be a witness to every person searching for the story God is constantly writing upon his and her heart.Brian Ruberg is a 22-year old adult convert to Catholicism. Born on Rowlett, Texas and raised in La Quinta, California, Brian was brought up as a Non-denominational Protestant Christian but saw little value in his religion despite never abandoning it. After a search for meaning and purpose through various outlets such as philosophy and the straight-edge punk movement, he became involved in the online political scene where he met many like-minded young men, many of whom were Catholic. Already experiencing gradual growth in Christ, he became curious and fascinated with the Church and its reverence and tradition, attending his first mass in Latin. Over the next three years, he began to grow in the faith and fall in love with the sacraments, eventually becoming fully initiated into the Catholic faith on December 21st, 2024. The city of Fontana had placed a moratorium on building improvements in this section of the city thus halting Planned Parenthood's plans to perform abortions. On the day of the filming of this episode the City of Fontana extended that moratorium for another 12 months. This allows a stay on any abortions to be performed. Mary Lasham is an 85 years old youth minister. Growing up in a difficult childhood, teen years and early on in her marriage and family life she was convicted by the Holy Spirit at the age of 35.  Finding her call to "Praise God" in all she does she began youth ministry bringing not only her family back to the Church but many others including me through her smile, hospitality and JOY!This episode is 2 years in the waiting. It was scheduled two years ago but Mary got Covid-19 and struggled to recover.  At 85 she now continues to empower people to follow Jesus and glorify God. Out of the dark. Nallely Perez at 14 years old was pregnant. Begrudgingly she chose life for her daughter. But it was not a fairy tale ending when she chose life. At least not yet. Her journey is one of inspiration and her story is the truth of many other women who find themselves today.In this episode we hear from Nallely Perez, a mother, a wife, and an abortion worker survivor. This episode is with Fr. Nicholas Sheehy of the Legionaries of Christ.  Fr. Sheehy grew up as the oldest of eight children in a loving Catholic family in San Diego. Convinced of a priestly vocation from a young age, he joined the Legionaries of Christ in 1999, after finishing High School. His path to the priesthood led him to Germany, Italy and the United States, and he began his priestly ministry in El Salvador after ordination in 2013. The Eucharistic Celebration is his high point every day.He loves Jesus and is passionate about forming people in the faith. Big Bear, CA. A resort, mountain town in Southern California's San Bernadino mountains, popular with tourists from near and far throughout all seasons. About 15 miles out of town is the small town of Running Springs. It's there in a ravine off CA Highway 330 the body of 28 year old Cori Desmond was found wrapped in trash bags. A 42-year-old man "lied his way" into a guarded location and tried to drown his daughter. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Twin Speaks Station was dispatched to Pali Mountain Camp in Running Springs on Oct. 25 for a drowning report. Timothy Shipman allegedly tried to drown his 2-year-old daughter at camp. His 5-year-old son was allegedly confined in the car. Pali Mountain Camp workers removed the youngsters from Shipman until deputies came. The 2-year-old girl and her sibling were taken to a hospital and are stable. Shipman was taken to a hospital and released to officers, according to the sheriff's office. Shipman was jailed at the Central Detention Center for attempted murder. His $1 million bail. "We were glad to discover today that the victim is recovering and in stable condition," Pali Mountain Camp told KTLA-TV. "We commend the Running Springs emergency services for their rapid reaction yesterday." The camp was "proud" of how its personnel handled the matter. If you have a CRAZY FAMILY STORY, tell us!!
