Specia a dispărut din România în urmă cu aproape un secol și exemplarul respectiv era o femelă de 3 ani. Pasărea fusese atacată de câini comunitari, la o groapă de gunoi din județul Constanța. După ce a fost îngrijită, a fost trimisă înapoi în Bulgaria, la organizația care a crescut-o în captivitate și a eliberat-o. E vorba despre asociația Zeleni Balkani (Balcanii Verzi). Printre altele, asociația repopulează Balcanii cu cele 4 specii de vultur care, cândva, trăiau și în România: - vulturul negru (Aegypius monachus) - vulturul sur (Gyps fulvus) - vulturul bărbos, sau zăganul (Gypaetus barbatus) - vulturul egiptean (Neophron percnopterus) Am stat de vorbă și despre motivele pentru care vulturii trebuie reintroduși în zonele în care trăiau cândva. Pe lângă motive “sentimentale”, cum ar fi faptul că sunt păsări impunătoare (exceptând vulturul egiptean, celelalte 3 specii au anvergura aripilor mai mare de 2,5 metri) și că au un zbor elegant, mai există și argumente cât se poate de practice. De exemplu, pagubele făcute de gripa porcină (și nu numai) puteau fi considerabil mai mici dacă în Balcani ar fi existat populații semnificate de vulturi care s-ar fi hrănit cu cadavrele animalelor bolnave și, în acest fel, ar fi încetinit răspândirea virusului. Susanna's storyMy journey with work-based learning began over 20 years ago when I completed an NVQ 2 while working as a support worker with adults with learning disabilities. I'd already completed a 3-year degree at university, but found the NVQ far more useful as it was practical and relevant to the work I was doing. It made sense. A few years later, I became an assessor and then an IQA for the NHS trust I was working for. I then left the NHS to work for a training provider who delivered apprenticeships – where I later became national contracts manager. As I started my journey into apprenticeships, the inefficiencies soon became clear. A huge amount of paper was required to record the audit trail. Carrying cumbersome paper portfolios was not logistically efficient. Reporting wasn't objective as it wasn’t in real time and was out of date by the time you received it. The whole system was completely out of date, so I thought to myself – surely technology can be used to solve these problems? And so OneFile was born. OneFile is more than a software company. We give people the tools to shape their own future, reach their potential and be the best they can be. We believe that when people have the tools to learn in a way that suits them and apply their knowledge in the workplace, learning is more engaging. Learning becomes part of everyday life, so everyone is learning for their future. Hostus Maximus Justin Fort and able cohosting Powerstroke guy Majid do a garage-only workbench episode from the Fletcher Hills compound in scenic death-spiraling southern Kalifornistan.  The topics are standard-issue gearhead superiority - horsepower in sand and rock, engine swaps for trail rigs, the plug & play niceness of OE transplants, off-roading pre-production Ford Super Duty pickups, and a small look at the need for consumers to beware of any products made in China, not just the fakes. There's also a tidy little chat about how hybrid car technology can work when used in the real world, and not narcissistic little commuter dust-busters. The Garage Hour goons spent some time looking back at their visit to the Superstition mountains just west of El Centro as well for the annual Superstition Run (put on by San Diego 4-Wheelers) and the near-perfect off-roading terrain afforded by wet SoCal sand and rock.  There's tales of a Class 8 desert truck bombing the famous Sand Dam in full roost-mode, as well as a bunch of other metal that didn't make it.  Then they try to figure out how much 4Runner Majid can afford for a trail beater - the beatier the better.  In gratitude, the newest Garage Hour cohost attempts to burn Justin's new MTB tires with a blowtorch.
