Wrestling Tonight: WWE HAS A DOMINIK MYSTERIO PROBLEM… AND IT'S GETTING HARDER TO IGNORE | 203

Turnbuckle Tavern is powered by G FUEL and Official Dick Lazer. Use code TAVERN for 20% off at GFUEL.com and DickLazers.com. Episode 203 of Wrestling Tonight centers on a question WWE may eventually have to answer with Dominik Mysterio: what happens when someone develops into a legitimate main-event talent faster than the company seems prepared to treat him like one? Dominik has now held the AAA Mega Championship since September 12, 2025, a reign that has reached 333 days as of August 11, 2026, and his progression has become increasingly difficult to dismiss as simply the product of heat, presentation or the Mysterio name. We discuss why Dominik has the ingredients of a future WWE main eventer, but also why WWE's recent history of starting and stopping momentum makes it fair to question whether the company will fully capitalize on what it has created. That conversation opens into a larger criticism of WWE's ability to develop new stars and, more importantly, keep them hot once the audience begins responding. Roman Reigns has argued that WWE had two years after he stepped away from the championship picture to give other wrestlers opportunities to get over, but that idea deserves more scrutiny than simply placing the responsibility on the talent. Wrestlers cannot grab a proverbial brass ring that creative repeatedly moves out of reach, and getting over is not exclusively an individual accomplishment when television time, meaningful programs, victories, opponents and sustained creative investment are controlled by the promotion. Roman Reigns and CM Punk can produce a memorable nine or ten-minute segment because they have enormous presence and established equity with the audience, but WWE also has to create the conditions that allow somebody from the next generation to eventually develop that same equity. Professional wrestling history itself complicates the argument that stars simply force their way to the top. Steve Austin did not become Stone Cold because WWE immediately handed him the company and waited for him to succeed. During the period when his momentum was developing in late 1996 and early 1997, Steve Austin was consistently working with Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Vader, Sycho Sid, Mankind and other established names. He won the 1997 Royal Rumble, challenged Sycho Sid for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship on house shows, worked repeatedly with Shawn Michaels and remained intertwined with Bret Hart even when he was losing matches. The company did not need Steve Austin to win everything for him to become important; it needed to keep putting him in situations where becoming important was possible. That historical context is why Dominik Mysterio is such an interesting test case. His connection to wrestling history is almost literal, because Zilla Fatu has recalled growing up backstage at WWE events alongside Dominik while their fathers were wrestling, describing the two of them running around backstage, getting into the ring and practicing the 619 as children. Zilla Fatu even remembered Dominik as the wrestler's child he connected with most during that period. What was once two kids playing wrestling backstage has now become part of a much larger generational story, with Dominik holding AAA's top championship while WWE controls 51 percent of the promotion following its acquisition of AAA in 2025. That ownership makes Dominik Mysterio's AAA run more significant than a disconnected excursion. WWE announced its agreement to acquire AAA during WrestleMania 41 weekend, the transaction closed on August 1, 2025, and the relationship has since expanded through Worlds Collide, AAA programming on Fox properties in Mexico and Latin America beginning in 2026, and a Mattel AAA action figure line scheduled for fall 2027. Dominik defeating El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at Worlds Collide on September 12, 2025 therefore places him directly inside WWE's larger investment in the Mexican promotion, and his lengthy reign provides an opportunity to determine whether WWE views him merely as a valuable character or as someone capable of eventually carrying a major promotion at the highest level. We also compare that approach with the way AEW has positioned Kyle Fletcher as a future cornerstone, because developing a main-event wrestler requires more than identifying somebody as talented. The audience needs repeated evidence that the promotion believes the wrestler belongs at that level, and the booking has to reinforce that idea long enough for perception to become reality. That does not mean every prospect should win constantly or immediately become world champion, but it does mean losses, programs and television appearances should contribute to an identifiable trajectory rather than repeatedly resetting momentum. That is ultimately why WWE has a Dominik Mysterio problem, although it is a potentially very good problem to have. Dominik has lineage, character, experience, sustained championship credibility in AAA and years of television development behind him, and the question is increasingly less about whether he can become a main-event wrestler than whether WWE will provide the sustained creative environment necessary for him to become one. If the company believes the next generation needs to step forward, Dominik Mysterio represents an opportunity to prove that WWE is willing to meet emerging talent halfway rather than waiting for someone to somehow become undeniable despite the booking around them. Has the CELSIUS growth story gone “stone cold” or are temperatures about to heat up once again? Celsius Holdings (NASDAQ: CELH) had quarterly revenue of $817.9 million, which was up 11% YoY. Excluding the Rockstar Energy acquisition-related financial impact, Celsius Holdings revenue would've only increased 1.6% YoY. CELSIUS had revenue of $387 million, which was down 11.6% YoY. Alani Nu had revenue of $364.4 million, which was up 20.9% YoY. And then lastly, Rockstar Energy had revenue of approximately $66.5 million. According to recent 13-week retail sales data, CELSIUS decreased by 2% YoY...remaining the third-largest energy drink brand in the category with a dollar share of 9.5%. Alani Nu increased retail sales 55.7% YoY and is now the dominant fourth brand in the U.S. energy drinks market with dollar share of 8.7%. And Rockstar Energy retail sales decreased 13% YoY and is still a Top-10 largest U.S. energy drink with dollar share of 1.9%. If we look at Celsius Holdings combined brand portfolio, it reached 20% of dollar share...ranking it third and trailing only Red Bull and the combined Monster Beverage portfolio. Additionally, while Celsius Holdings has a large lead on the combined Keurig Dr Pepper (controlled) brand portfolio of GHOST, C4, and Bloom…that lead is shrinking relatively quickly due to the extreme growth of Bloom. Things drastically shifted for CELSIUS because of the August 2022 distribution and investment deal with PepsiCo. Additionally, when Celsius Holdings took ownership of the Rockstar Energy brand last quarter, it designated them the PepsiCo strategic energy drink captain. Also, another major aspect of “Celsius Holdings and PepsiCo strengthening its long-term strategic partnership” was the transition of Alani Nu distribution into the PepsiCo DSD system starting December 2025. So then, in my latest first principles thinking content piece, I'll explore several key factors surrounding why the next 12-18 months will define the future of the Celsius Holdings brand portfolio.

Stone Cold (1991) Director: Craig R. Baxley Starring: Brian Bosworth, Lance Henriksen, William Forsythe, Richard GantSomewhere in 1991, a man in a skunk-tail alligator duster looked at a grocery store full of Ritz crackers and decided they had to die. That man was Brian "The Boz" Bosworth, and the movie is Stone Cold — the single greatest hour and 32 minutes of biker-gang, courthouse-siege, dummy-flying-through-glass action cinema you've never watched. We break down why this ex-NFL bust of a leading man somehow delivers, why Lance Henriksen makes everything better just by showing up, and why this might be the most purely entertaining B-action movie we've covered on the show.In this episode, we discuss:The Boz, Cinema's Greatest Accidental Action Hero – Brian Bosworth's mulleted, skunk-tail-jacketed debut shouldn't work, but somehow it does. We argue he's criminally underrated and nowhere near as bad as his post-NFL reputation suggests. The Worst Undercover Cops in Movie History – Bosworth and his partner blow their cover approximately every ten minutes, in broad daylight, with the subtlety of a marching band. We break down every hilariously botched sting operation. An Ending So Chaotic It Should Be Studied in Film School – A helicopter descending on a courthouse, Lance Henriksen dressed as a priest mowing down everyone in sight, and dummies flying through windows like it's an Olympic event. We dissect the most unhinged third act we've seen in ages.Explosions, Explosions, and More Explosions – This movie opens with an explosion and closes with an explosion, and in between it's just vibes and pyrotechnics. We talk about why practical stunt work and real dummies still hit different than any CGI ever could. We Also Talked About:Don't Panic (1987) (Amazon) – A Spanish-language Ouija board horror flick with a main character who won't stop wearing dinosaur pajamas.Night School (1981) (DailyMotion) – An early-'80s slasher featuring a kukri-wielding killer known as "The Lopper."Death Chase (1988) (Tubi) – Another David A. Prior joint about a regular guy turned reluctant assassin target.Kickboxer 2: The Road Back (1991) (Tubi) – Sasha Mitchell steps into JCVD's shoes for a sequel packed with absurdly brutal fight choreography.Ridiculous (Netflix) – Louis C.K.'s new Netflix stand-up special, and a conversation about where he stands today.Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America (Amazon) – Larry David's new HBO series reimagining American history, one uncomfortable sketch at a time. Some of the above links are affiliate links — if you purchase through them we get a small kickback, and it's the best way to support the show.New episodes of the Dewey Pod Monster podcast drop every week. On this episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson tackle some of the biggest stories shaping professional wrestling today before taking a fascinating trip back to one of the industry's most influential eras. The guys kick things off by discussing Tubi's emergence as a major destination for professional wrestling content. Eric shares his thoughts on what expanded streaming distribution means for wrestling promotions, how it could change the way fans consume content, and whether free, ad-supported platforms represent the next major battleground in the wrestling business. The conversation then shifts to Road Dogg and the challenges that await him if he joins TNA Wrestling's creative team. Eric breaks down the realities of modern wrestling creative, the obstacles anyone stepping into that role will face, and why building a successful promotion requires far more than simply writing compelling television. Next, Eric and Conrad celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic promos in wrestling history—Steve Austin's "Austin 3:16" speech. Eric offers his unique perspective on why the experiences Steve Austin endured during his time in WCW helped forge the "Stone Cold" persona that would eventually change the wrestling business forever. It's an insightful look at how setbacks, frustration, and opportunity combined to create one of the greatest characters the industry has ever seen. Plus, the guys continue their deep dive into the 30th anniversary of the formation of the nWo, revisiting the behind-the-scenes stories that made wrestling history. Eric reveals just how dangerous some of those unforgettable moments really were, including why one wrong move by Kevin Nash or Scott Hall during the early days of the nWo could have had catastrophic consequences. It's another candid look behind the curtain from the man who helped reshape the wrestling industry.     THIS WEEKS SPONSORS CHIME - Chime is not just smarter banking, it is the most rewarding way to bank. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 378, “Stone Cold Response to the Word of the Lord,” Kim discusses the dangers of allowing our hearts to be hardened to God's Word. Recently, we examined the tender heart of King Josiah and how hearing God's Word changed him and how he led. This week, we see that his son Jehoiakim's heart was as hard as Josiah's was tender. How tender or hard is your heart to God's Word?   Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 36:1-32, with 21-25 as the focal verses:   21 The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi brought it from Elishama's room and read it to the king as all his officials stood by. 22 It was late autumn, and the king was in a winterized part of the palace, sitting in front of a fire to keep warm. 23 Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up. 24 Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard. 25 Even when Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah begged the king not to burn the scroll, he wouldn't listen.     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   On a scale of 0-10, with 0 being very tender and 10 being stone cold, where does your heart stand regarding the Word of the Lord?   Additional Resources and Scriptures:   2 Kings 22 Jeremiah 36 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
