On this episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson tackle some of the biggest stories shaping professional wrestling today before taking a fascinating trip back to one of the industry's most influential eras. The guys kick things off by discussing Tubi's emergence as a major destination for professional wrestling content. Eric shares his thoughts on what expanded streaming distribution means for wrestling promotions, how it could change the way fans consume content, and whether free, ad-supported platforms represent the next major battleground in the wrestling business. The conversation then shifts to Road Dogg and the challenges that await him if he joins TNA Wrestling's creative team. Eric breaks down the realities of modern wrestling creative, the obstacles anyone stepping into that role will face, and why building a successful promotion requires far more than simply writing compelling television. Next, Eric and Conrad celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic promos in wrestling history—Steve Austin's "Austin 3:16" speech. Eric offers his unique perspective on why the experiences Steve Austin endured during his time in WCW helped forge the "Stone Cold" persona that would eventually change the wrestling business forever. It's an insightful look at how setbacks, frustration, and opportunity combined to create one of the greatest characters the industry has ever seen. Plus, the guys continue their deep dive into the 30th anniversary of the formation of the nWo, revisiting the behind-the-scenes stories that made wrestling history. Eric reveals just how dangerous some of those unforgettable moments really were, including why one wrong move by Kevin Nash or Scott Hall during the early days of the nWo could have had catastrophic consequences. It's another candid look behind the curtain from the man who helped reshape the wrestling industry. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 378, “Stone Cold Response to the Word of the Lord,” Kim discusses the dangers of allowing our hearts to be hardened to God's Word. Recently, we examined the tender heart of King Josiah and how hearing God's Word changed him and how he led. This week, we see that his son Jehoiakim's heart was as hard as Josiah's was tender. How tender or hard is your heart to God's Word? Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 36:1-32, with 21-25 as the focal verses: 21 The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi brought it from Elishama's room and read it to the king as all his officials stood by. 22 It was late autumn, and the king was in a winterized part of the palace, sitting in front of a fire to keep warm. 23 Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up. 24 Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard. 25 Even when Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah begged the king not to burn the scroll, he wouldn't listen. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: On a scale of 0-10, with 0 being very tender and 10 being stone cold, where does your heart stand regarding the Word of the Lord? Additional Resources and Scriptures: 2 Kings 22 Jeremiah 36 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. On this special 350th Episode of the show, the Big Five Project returns as we enter the year PC Tunney has been looking forward to for a very long time. 1997 is here and so to is the Attitude Era. More or less anyway. We begin what will surely be an epic run of episodes here on the Big Five Project with Royal Rumble '97. It was a night that saw the WWE return to a stadium as over 61,000 fans packed the Alamodome in San Antonio to see the boyhood dream come true all over again as Shawn Michaels reclaimed the WWF Championship from Sycho Sid. But it was also the night that saw "Stone Cold' Steve Austin capture the first of his three Royal Rumble wins, and the most controversial of all of them as Austin was eliminate, but the refs never saw it. Austin's victory would set off a wild chain reaction of events that would completely shift the landscape for WrestleMania XIII. In reality, the entire evening was a who's-who of huge players in WWF at the time, even if they still were not quite fully aligned with the gimmicks that would launch the industry into the stratosphere. It was an epic night in every sense of the word so come with us deep into the heart of Texas and celebrate as the Attitude Era begins to hit its stride with Royal Rumble '97!Chairshot Radio Network Launched in 2017, the Chairshot Radio Network presents you with the best in sports, entertainment, and sports entertainment. Carlos, Javier y El George continúan recordando los tiempos del deporte de las mil emociones, esta vez concentrándose en la década de los 90's cuando ya la gente estaba harta de los "héroes", y los rudos se convirtieron en los verdaderos protagonistas: Stone Cold, la NWO, y la religión Chickystariana, entre otros. ¿Cuál fue tu luchador o equipo favorito de esos años?
Duke and Rogue are back to cover WWF Over the Edge 1998! On this show, Stone Cold defends his world title against Dude Love, DX and The Nation continue their feud, and The Rock defends his Intercontinental Championship against former friend and mentor Faarooq. This show comes fresh off the heels of the WWF ending WCW's 83 Week streak of dominance on Monday nights, and the Attitude era is in... Brenden Schaeffer breaks down the Cardinals 5-3 win over the Marlins from Tuesday night as Ryne Stanek continues to be an adventure in the bullpen. But Oliver Marmol had compelling reasons for trying to squeeze one last out from Stanek the way that he did -- and it has everything to do with managing the bullpen for the long haul.Luckily, Stanek's failure didn't cost the Cards the game as George Soriano and Riley O'Brien came through. We talk about the pitching plus the solid night by the bats as Nathan Church begins to potentially push Victor Scott II for more playing time in CF with a thunderous homer.

This remains one of the more infamous examples of a professional athlete attempting to become a movie star as former NFL linebacker Brian Bosworth stars as Joe Huff, a tough Alabama cop who goes undercover with the FBI to infiltrate and take down a militia group of bikers lead by Chains Cooper (Lance Henricksen) who has ambitions much more dangerous than just being a motorcyle club. Bosworth's pro football career ended prematurely by the time this was released due to injuries and as a result, this film's reputation soured before it even opened in the spring of 1991. The reviews were bad and it flopped at the box office. However....what if it actually turned out to be a genuinely GOOD action film? As directed by Craig R. Baxley (Action Jackson) who was a former stunt coordinator, this film is jam-packed with impressive action sequences and stunts using various vehicles....and it also features a go-for-broke performance by William Forsythe (Out of Justice, Dick Tracy, American Me, The Rock) as the most menacing member of the motorcycle gang named "Chains." On the eve of its 35th Anniversary, let's revisit the go-for-broke action film which 2002's XXX only aspired to be!Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us Fan MailSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

The Big Five Project returns as we bring 1996 to an epic conclusion. Before we get there, though, Rey Cash joins Dave and PC Tunney to take a look at the full card for WrestleMania 42, coming up in just a few days. What matches are we excited about, and what are we unsure of? From there, it is on to Survivor Series '96. The final PPV of 1996 delivered on many fronts. Emanating from Madison Square Garden, this event stood on the precipice of the emergence of the Attitude Era, and the crowd in New York City truly let Vince McMahon know what was working and what was not. On this memorable night, we saw Undertaker and Mankind end their storied rivalry, for a little while anyway. On the other hand, Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin were just beginning their rivalry. Speaking of beginnings, Survivor Series '96 saw the debut of an electrifying future champion and icon in Rocky Maivia, the man we would all come to know as The Rock in just a couple of years. In the Main Event, though, the NYC crowd would memorably turn against the WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels, and align themselves with Sycho Sid, and history was made. The Attitude Era is nearly here, and Survivor Series' 96 caught a lot of what would make the next few years in WWE, in the eyes of many, the greatest in the history of the industry! ANYONE SEEN RITCHIE???That's the central question driving this pulpy action thriller starring Steven Seagal (Under Siege, Hard To Kill, Marked For Death) during his breakout period in the early '90's. Here he plays Gino Felino, a dogged NYPD cop on a mission....to capture the killer of his partner. That would be the aforementioned Richie Madano, a cranked out mob enforcer played by William Forsythe (Raising Arizona, The Rock, Dick Tracy, Stone Cold) who seemes to be on a mission of his own....to rampage around Brooklyn causing trouble. :o And a chaotic cat-and-mouse ensues between cop and robber, leaving in its wake a lot of broken glass and broken limbs! This often (unintentionally) funny action thriller was directed by the late, great John Flynn (Rolling Thunder, Lock Up, Brain Scan) and also co-stars Jerry Orbach, Jo Champa, Gina Gershon, Julianna Margulies, and Dominic Chianese.
