In this lunch and learn, Kris welcomes Coach Ben Poswalk from Colorado to answer the first listener question from the amazing child care leader listeners. First up is Tomika Roberston of A Giant's Playschool, who has a question about budgeting. She is wondering how to get started with budgeting as she transitions her home based preschool to her first brick and mortar center. And, how to take in consideration for events like parent's night out, bonuses, grad events, etc. Ben shares some sage advice on measuring your information, accounting for fluctuations, and having support and a second pair of eyes. Key Takeaways: [7:00] Tomika calls in. [8:19] Tomika is aware she needs to focus on creating a budget from scratch and to implement best money practices. [10:33] Ben shares the importance of measuring and tracking data. Measure income first, then expenses. [11:16] Make measuring and collecting data a habit, and have someone to help you on a regular basis. [13:38] Get creative with ways to build parent relationships without breaking the bank, like potlucks or picnics. [16:28] You don't have to get stuck in just giving out bonuses to show appreciation. Think creatively, whether it's visible notes where people can see the nice things you and others say about them, donuts once a quarter, etc. [17:11] Getting your staff business cards also is an affordable way to make them feel more professional. [17:50] How to use bonuses to build relationships with your team. [18:20] What tools do most people use to create a budget? [19:55] How to keep your business on track with your budget. [22:00] Make the habit of actually looking at your numbers to ensure your business is going in the right direction. Quotes: “What gets measured improves.” - Ben/Kris 10:49 “People don't remember what you get them, they remember how you make them feel.” - Ben 15:29 “You need to just be able to explain the anomalies in your budget when it's not at 100%, or close to. And that's really how I learned to track my business.” - Ben 21:00 “Get support, get somebody else looking. Get a second set of eyes looking at your numbers.” Ben 21:40 Sponsored By: ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) Use the code CCSC5 to claim a free course! And in a second episode, I interview another three members about their experience of scaling their businesses. So basically, a choose-your-own (or both) adventure this week. In this episode, I interview Lauren Adlam, Elke Hoenisch and Tomika Steele. Lauren and Elke are right on the cusp of bringing their creations into the world when we chatted, while Tomika is pivoting her business. We cover the gestation period for their business babies, imposter syndrome, time on (versus in) their start-ups, dealing with other peoples' opinions, procrastination, support networks and much, much more. This episode is a must-listen if you're thinking about, or are already underway with, starting a business and I'd like to thank Lauren, Elke and Tomika for their honesty and generosity in what they've shared in our conversation. All three ladies were founding members of my Bold Darling mentoring group when I first opened doors back in March… and guess what? Doors are open again now! If you're ready to grow your business in a way that supports YOU, find out how being a Bold Darling member will change both your life and your business at: bolddarling.com You can find out more about each of the businesses of this week's guests here: Lauren Adlam - zown.app Elke Hoenisch - powerbodyforlife.com Tomika (Mimm) Steele - musicismymuse.com.au See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
3 moms. 4 kids. 18 years in prison. Since the beginning of the War on Drugs, the number of women in U.S. prisons has grown over 800%. The majority are mothers. In a Midwestern state caught between harsh drug sentencing and rising incarceration for women, three unforgettable mothers—Tomika, Lydia, and Amanda— return home from prison and rebuild their lives after being separated from their children for years. Their stories overlap at a new reentry program for women, run by Malika, an advocate formerly incarcerated in the same prison. Filmed over 3 ½ years, APART, by Independent Lens and PBS, traces their steps as they reconstruct lives derailed by drugs and prison.
Are you ready to rock? This week's show will melt your face off as we discuss School of Rock and eat turkey subs, Pringles, Goldfish, Cheetos, and a Crunch bar, in essence, everything from Tomika's desk. It's great to watch kids have fun shredding with Jack Black. If the podcast gig doesn't work out, maybe we can make our own tribute band. Step Off!

Rozmowa została przeprowadzona po angielsku .Na koniec każdego wejścia nie zabraknie krótkich podsumowań w języku polskim. Jesteśmy ciekawi, czy taki format również przypadnie Państwu do gustu.

On the lucky 13th episode of Shit We Don’t Talk About, Mia dishes with Tomika Bryant of Life in Pumps. Tomika is an organic lifestyle blogger, activist, and Philly girl, so you know she has thoughts on the nonsense of this election, agreeing to disagree, drawing lines in the sand, and cancel culture. As a black woman talking with a white woman and vice versa, this episode is real and goes to places most people don’t dare to go. A note as you read about it: Mia and the rest of the crew want you to remember if you’re lucky enough that your rights are not up for debate, consider voting for those whose rights are--those are the kind of places we’re going. Three takeaways from this episode of the Shit We Don’t Talk About podcast. Cancel culture is a calling-it-out culture. When people don’t want to tolerate unacceptable behavior, it’s very needed! This is not the time for cafeteria religion. An example of this is being pro-life for white women only. (Didn’t know that was a disgusting thing, huh?) Loving others is a noble and worthy goal, but it’s an empty platitude without action behind it. Besides, when that is a response to people asking for change, it is invalidating. Tomika Anderson Tomika Anderson is an award-winning content creator, communications director, lifelong traveller with passport stamps from five continents, longtime, proven champion of women and children and a lioness mom to Solomon, my adorable four-year-old son. Having worked with everyone from Beyoncé to Serena Williams, I've learned from the best and sought to share that knowledge as a communications strategy consultant. I'm on a journey to empower moms from all walks of life to design a life they're proud of, and one that supports their children to no end. Ms. Anderson and Stephanie Sampson have created the Motivated Mamas Mastermind. The Motivated Mamas Mastermind is a 90-day sprint cycle that provides a safe, virtual, supportive space for single moms of all backgrounds. The purpose? To share expertise, hacks, best practices and problem solve on anything and everything holding you back, whether that's having to navigate the child support system, a need to boost your credit score, a push toward launching your successful business or securing that corner office. Or maybe it's losing that stubborn “baby weight” and getting back out there on the dating scene so you can meet someone compatible. The not-so-secret weapon? Accountability. In case you didn't know, accountability partners are crucial to getting a promotion at work, mastering a new trade, finding a sponsor for your conference or replacing that soul-sucking job … and so much more. Recently, Ms. Anderson was on our show talking about the Motivated Mamas Mastermind. During our conversation, Ms. Anderson talked about: – How has life being a military brat impacted her – What influenced her to get into the world of journalism and some of her career highlights – How did she get into the world of coaching – How did her and Stephanie meet and how did the start the Motivated Mamas Mastermind – What is the Motivated Mamas Mastermind is all about and what services does it offer – What has Motivated Mamas Mastermind taught her about herself – How are people hearing about the Motivated Mamas Mastermind You can find out more about the Motivated Mamas Mastermind via: Website Email You can find out more about Ms. Anderson via: Website Visit our website at https://www.thedrvibeshow.com/ Please feel free to email us at dr.vibe@thedrvibeshow.com Please feel free to “Like” the “The Dr. Vibe Show” Facebook fan page here God bless, peace, be well and keep the faith, Dr. Vibe

Tomika Weston from The Read ATL discusses the monthly table read series featuring screenwriters and actors from all over the city as well as her own screenwriting career!
OK Girls, it’s the BOYS’ turn to speak out! Piper is on set with Ricard Hurtado (aka Ricky Hurtado - plays Freddy), Aidan Miner (Lawrence) and Lance Lim (Zack) from Nickelodeon’s School of Rock! The boys talk about how much their characters have (or maybe haven’t) changed from the original Jack Black movie (…or maybe Miranda Cosgrove movie, since most of you are iCarly fans)! Watch what happens when the boys face questions from the Princess of the Press! Yes, we’re talking pretty co-stars, what kinds of grades they really get in school, what music they like, and more. If you missed the first episode with Breanna Yde (Tomika) and Jade Pettyjohn (Summer), be sure to check that one out too! If you really like reading all of these video descriptions, feel free to read through our other 231 video descriptions. There’s some pretty awesome stuff. We suggest watching! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PIPER on iMDB: http://imdb.me/PiperReese ----------------------------------------------------------------------- REGISTER on PIPERSPICKS.TV: http://piperspicks.tv/ INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/PipersPIcksTV TWITTER: http://www.twitter.com/PipersPicksTV FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/PipersPicksTV ©2016 Piper's Picks® TV =====================
Yeah Baby! We’re going behind the scenes, back to school, and onto the set of Nickelodeon’s long awaited School of Rock! Since girls rock best, we’re starting with the PiPeRiFiC ladies of the show, Jade Pettyjohn and Breanna Yde (aka Summer and Tomika…yeah, in that order)! If Jade looks familiar, you probably recognize her from Henry Danger (as Chloe), American Girl’s McKenna Shoots for the Stars, or form a bunch of other shows she’s appeared on! Breanna is Nickelodeon alumni, of course! She’s Frankie Hathaway on Haunted Hathaways. (Trivia: She also was on an episode of The Thundermans called Haunted Thundermans. P.S. Watch our on set visits to The Thundermans too!) So…you’re seriously still reading? I know this is awesome stuff, but the video is even better! Go…watch…hurry…it’s free, I tell ya! FREE! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PIPER on iMDB: http://imdb.me/PiperReese ----------------------------------------------------------------------- REGISTER on PIPERSPICKS.TV: http://piperspicks.tv/ INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/PipersPIcksTV TWITTER: http://www.twitter.com/PipersPicksTV FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/PipersPicksTV ©2016 Piper's Picks® TV =====================
