Eric Dorsey is an RN with a background in ICU and EMT. Eric is currently working as a dialysis nurse and is a published author--you can find his novel My Father's Indian on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Goodreads. While Eric enjoys his career as a nurse, he's also passionate about creative writing and exercising his talent for story writing. Although he doesn't reveal the entire mystery, Eric chats about the plot of his book, referencing patient sedation and certain themes of emotional wellness that derive from his experience studying psychology. Drawing from his own experiences in medicine, psychology, and just life in general, Eric's novel is a bouquet of extreme characters that display relatable struggles. The writing process took around 6 months for Eric, while the year after was spent editing, publishing, and getting readers, and procuring an agent. Eventually, Eric self-published, signed with a distributor, and got two popular critics to review his novel. Eric also chats about marketing and advertising his novel which includes Amazon ads and driving traffic. To learn more about Eric and connect with him personally you can visit his website https://www.ericdorseyauthor.com/. Don't Miss These Moments: Eric's extensive background in healthcare & life. Last year, in episode 3 of this podcast, I interviewed Eric Wargo, author of Time Loops. I had gotten to know Eric at a conference a few years earlier at the Esalen Center for Theory and Research. I was impressed by him and his ideas, and spent many hours talking with him. I find his theories about precognition, retrocausation, the nature of the brain, and the role of dreaming fascinating. They explain a lot of esoteric experiences and data that are often pushed aside by mainstream researchers. While Eric is pushing the boundaries of our theoretical models further than most, he is also a rigorous and serious thinker who speaks well to those who sympathize with his ideas but can also answer and engage his critics. I always enjoy talking with him, so when I realized his new book, Precognitive Dreamwork and the Long Self, was out, I thought it was time to get him back on the podcast.

Eric Feigl jumps on the podcast with CJ Gotcher to discuss his evolution as a coach. Unlike many of the other coaches, Eric has been a long-time coach and personal trainer and even has his own podcast, the Fitness Candor podcast. His story is more one of adapting and evolving and improving his own coaching practice and business. Learn more here: https://ericfeigl.com  Eric loves the IMPACT coaching makes on someone’s everyday life. Ultimately every job HELPS people somehow, even accounting. Coaching however can really alter the quality of someone’s life and how each moment feels, reducing pain, and increasing abilities. He was attracted to coaching because of this.  One of the things CJ & Eric discuss is how in learning deeply about something you ultimately have to believe in that thing. For Eric, is what Arthur Jones intensity training. For CJ, it was CrossFit. Though neither believes deeply in these, they’ve learned the benefits and downsides despite beginning as devotees of these respective training methods.  While Eric pursued a degree, he feels that most of what he learned does not help him be a better coach. You ultimately have to pursue those things that give you the tools to improve your coaching, and the Barbell Academy definitely provides many of those tools.  When Eric found simple, hard, effective barbell training, he already had to have clients. This occurred during the lockdown, so when clients returned he had changed his training philosophy quite a bit. He introduced barbells. Some people were all in, some needed a more compromised solution, but ultimately using barbells was better than what they had been doing. Some clients needed to leave and go elsewhere, but Eric believed more in his new approach and it did not hurt his business.  GET STARTED with one-on-one online coaching FOR FREE! While Eric is well known for receiving the 2014 Nobel Prize for Chemistry along with Stefan Hell and William Moerner for developing super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, you might be surprised to hear that he doesn’t consider himself a chemist at all. Join us as we talk about the challenges and excitement of building a living room microscope, moving from academia to industry and back again, and how being a house husband led to a scientific breakthrough. As this was recorded as a live event, the audience had the opportunity to put their own questions to Eric. Coffee or tea? Omnivore or Vegan? Ultrastructure or cellular dynamics? While we start to talk about Chris’ input into the show, we wind up on a journey through Chris’ topsy-turvy night that landed him on the floor… literally! We move on to a very poignant discussion about how all three of us have had people tell us about great shows that we would probably not watch soon, which then discusses our show-watching positions and preferences. Jay then proceeds to ask Chris and Maria what they would do to prove their spot in heaven to St. Peter. We discuss trips to knock off supermarkets and how Jay has a healthy disdain for market shamers and the lack of receptacles for carrying said supermarket products out to your car. However, a strong, brown, paper bag to carry your supermarket purchases out to the car is the way to go.  Not to mention the fantastic, DIY book covers that people either hated or loved if they had to make a book cover from a paper bag; was it a style or a way of life? Jay does a great job of circling back to Chris’s story about falling on the floor, and we confirmed he is, in fact, okay! And finally, Chris wraps it up with a. great monologue about accepting yourself, loving yourself, and becoming the superhero we all can be by merely accepting everything about ourselves!!! Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. Don't forget to subscribe, download, rate, and review! @theenlistedpodcast on Instagram.

On this episode of RPGrinders, the Grinders finally determine the Greatest Horror Movie of All Time. Besides the fictional horror, Frank and Break also have scary news. While Eric laments the passing of a magical legend.    It wouldn't be RPGrinders without some good old JRPG news. For the first time, North America is getting a release of the original 8-bit Fire Emblem. The Switch version of Outer Worlds gets several new updates. Da Capo 4 Fortunate Departures is coming in early 2021. And even though it's not an RPG, R-Type Final 2 is being published in America by NIS.    The RPGrinders don't always talk about gaming but they always find some reason to complain. 2020 has had no shortage of Stinkoes but none more serious than the deadly COVID-19 virus and America's abysmal response. COVID isn't the only thing keeping Frank indoors as the state of Colorado is besieged by a massive wildfire.  And Eric has more sad news with the passing of a legendary magician, James Randi.   With so many Stinkoes, it's always good to have hope. Frank and Colorado may be getting the help they need in the form of a snow storm. While not as personal of a Sweeto, Break celebrates the arrest of a domestic terrorist group that was trying to frame Antifa and incite violence between police and protestors.   There can be only one and tonight the Grinders whittle down 8 contestants to finally determine the Greatest Horror Movie of All Time! These movies are so good it was almost impossible to choose. Is Halloween scarier than Scream? Is a massacre in Texas more frightening that the Spanish horror film REC? Is Freddy more evil than the Evil Dead? Can The Thing beat a Kubrick masterpiece? And these are all just the first round! Without further ado, the Greatest Horror Movie of All Time is:                                 Yea right! Like I was going to tell. Adapt & overcome. While Eric undergoes a studio relocation, Jay & Maria have an episode between their therapy sessions. As you can imagine, the discussion takes on the topics surrounding the humanness that is modern living and mental health.  Maria reports how she was under stress about a potential lousy midterm grade that was the opposite.  The conversation steers to the worry about outcomes and the pressure that we undertake due to it.  A sad trombone sound effect leads to discussing what it would be to have that sound as a morning alarm.  Does the day's start with one adverse event have to set the tone for your entire day? The consensus, a single morning event should not set the mood for your whole day leading to more questions. Do we allow things we take in to alter our mental disposition?  Does sad music create a melancholy mood in our day?  The impact of a daily regimen on a person's ability to get exercise is discussed.  Jay seems to think saving up your activity and trying to make it up in an hour at the gym surely can't be the best way to live.  The two discuss how we let others' feelings about us dictate our internal feelings.  The reality is that everyone is sitting in fear of judgment so much that they barely have time to notice what anyone else is doing.  What did your coworkers wear yesterday?  The vast majority don't remember what you wore either.  We spend valuable headspace, letting our emotions controlled by worry or the sheer potential of judgment.Maria has a beef with her local area's surplus of Dollar Stores.  Why are there so many in her neighborhood?  Is the only difference between CVS and a dollar sore just knock-off brands?  Jay complains about all is poor kid knock off cereals.  Maria wants Cocoa Puffs and not  "Chocolate Poofies"  While Jay overdosed on Golden Grahams shortly after joining the army.  Do we fill the holes from our childhood with pleasures today?  The two wrap up by making the call that bacon only comes from pigs, and it's a hard no on turkey "bacon."

He holds a BS, BA in Business Management, B.S. in Entrepreneurship, and an MBA from the University of Arizona. In this episode… First-time founders are always eager to pitch even before figuring out who their customers are and what they want. According to Eric Smith, Executive Director at the UA Center for Innovation, these founders often have one thing in common: they fail to carry out useful customer discovery. The result is an ask that does not inspire confidence in the customer or a potential investor.  How, then, do you carry out useful customer discovery? Eric says ultimately, you need to have a clear understanding of what exactly you're asking for and why you're asking for it. Armed with that information, you should ask your prospects questions that’ll help you discover their pain points and identify who's giving you the money.   Learn more about making confident asks in this episode of the What's Your Ask show with Stephanie Sims as she hosts Eric Smith, Executive Director of the UA Center for Innovation. You don’t have to be an expert, but you have to know the subject better than most people. Would you be willing to work at least an extra hour a day on this idea to turn it into a business?48:45 - Dig the well before you’re thirsty. Find a company or industry that you are interested in and ask if you can volunteer your time. This will allow you to not only learn about the industry but the person you work for will want to help connect you and help you succeed.52:50 - If you've lost your job, your opportunity cost to start a side business is zero. While Eric seems to be an intelligent man, educated, articulate, bright, his argument isn't intelligent, it is cogent, it isn't educated, it isn't informed, and worse of all, it isn't sincere.

Do you have the right systems but still struggle to grow? Do you look at the big agencies and wonder how they got to 7- or 8-figures? It's all about having the ability to work with the right clients who can afford to pay what you're worth. In today's episode, we'll cover: How to turn more prospects into clients. 2 Key factors to establish effective pricing. How to get to the point where your agency can pick and choose. Today I sat down with Eric Vardon, co-founder, and president of Arcane, a Canadian-based digital marketing agency. Eric started his agency in 2011 with a keen focus on analytics and a clear understanding of his business. He's on the show today to talk about how you can get your agency to a point where you're able to pick and choose which clients you want to work with.   How to Turn More Prospects Into Clients As a digital marketing agency, it's your job to get clients to see the value of your services. Clients aren't eager to hand over money for a strategy that might work. This is why so many agencies have difficulty finding success — they don't know how to convince clients to take the risk.  So how do you get a client to see the value in what your agency offers? Make the pitch less subjective. Show potential clients actual figures to show you've run the numbers and care about their bottom line.      Arcane does their homework and researches the client. Within the first couple of meetings with a potential client, Eric's team is able to understand the business' revenue goals and profitability. Using this information, they build a spreadsheet and proposal outlining the specific metrics needed to achieve results. When your client can actually see the numbers and ROI, they are more likely to take the leap.  2 Key Factors to Establish Effective Pricing Pricing is a big part of your agency's growth and success. Set the price too high and you'll have difficulty finding clients. Set it too low and the good clients won't take you seriously.  At the end of the day, your goal is to be profitable.  How much do you need to charge in order to achieve this goal? Track and monitor everything. Remember those spreadsheets? Eric says there isn't a process or analytic where they don't have some sort of spreadsheet. Take a close look at your transactions. What are your hourly rates? What are your account costs? And what are your expenses? Look at the big picture. Sometimes you have to look at what you are going to get out of a client in the long run and determine the lifetime value of this client. You may need to do additional work upfront because you know you'll make the margin back over time.  How Your Agency Can Pick and Choose Clients In the beginning, most agencies are stuck working with any and every client. However, eventually, we all want to get to the point where we can be more selective about which clients we do and don't want to work with. One of the best ways to do this is to bring on solid leadership and surround them with a good team.  While Eric is the co-founder and president of Arcane, he brought on a CEO and a COO to focus on the day-to-day tasks. His COO comes from the public accounting industry and has been a critical part of developing the agency's financial strategy. The agency's CEO is a former HR professional. She knows the human side and is able to use her experience to work with clients and foster a successful team. Together, they create the perfect balance.  Arcane's rapid success comes down to partnership, clarity, and accountability. Eric and his team frequently come together to discuss what they want, what makes them happy, and where they want to go. It's about understanding your agency's vision and communicating it to the team.  Sometimes it's the simple things that bring the most success. When you understand what it takes to make your agency profitable and create a plan to get there, the rest is yours to pick and choose.

Come on.....every body loves even a little Doo Wop...it makes you smile no matter how shitty the world can get. How can you NOT smile at great songs like Goodnite Sweetheart, Teenager In Love, Barbara Ann or a ton of other more obscure nuggets?  Then, just for something different, Eric discusses punk......well sorta kinda....Eric turns his gaze onto another great Rhino set called Rockin' Bones: 1950s Punk and Rockabilly. As he always says, it's about the energy, and there's a ton of it on this box. Songs from the iconic to the 1-song-wonders - Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly to Pat Cupp and Benny Joy. It's a great celebration of when rock was young and raucous. Eric will tell you why you need this music in your life. He also presents his thoughts on the demise of the box set brought on by technology. Spotify and Youtube playlists make this inevitable. While Eric laments the redundancy of the CD box in 2019, he has an interesting suggestion to CD companies about distribution of the fascinating books that always made the boxes an essential part of any music lover's collection. Chad and Eric have both certainly been asked this a number of times. So today, they explore the answer. What is the primary difference between these nutritional programs? And what makes keto stand a cut above? What is the Paleo diet? How Eric feels about grains. The hunters and gatherers didn't exist without ketones. The importance of controlling your insulin. What does Atkins OD on? How the ketosis journey was kicked off by...epilepsy! The important missing piece from other nutritional programs. Can a weightlifter/crossfitter have as much success on Keto as Paleo? "I dope with fat." And getting you to your goal in a healthy way.
