Tech Advancements Await: Stay ahead by integrating AI and tech solutions to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.     In the evolving world of automotive sales, adaptability and foresight are paramount. These insights come to life vividly in a conversation between Dealer Synergy's LA Williams and Kristen Campbell from Motway, highlighting the industry's current dynamics and future directions. As automotive professionals, ranging from salespersons to managers, gear up for 2025, understanding and applying these lessons could define their success. Let's dive into the core themes that emerged in their discussion and explore how they can impact your automotive journey.   Embracing Adaptability in the Automotive Industry Adaptability has long been a cornerstone of success in any business, but in the fast-paced and ever-changing automotive industry, it's non-negotiable. LA Williams sets the tone by emphasizing, "Sometimes you got to get the job done anyway," underscoring the necessity of forging ahead despite imperfect conditions. The conversation with Kristen Campbell, Vice President of Account Services at Motway, also echoes this sentiment. Kristen, with her rich experience in public relations, illustrates how she navigated her career trajectory during challenging economic times. As she notes, the automotive industry demands resilience: "You got to show up every day ready to work, and you got to have that energy." This mindset not only helped her rise to a leadership position but also drives Motway's success in a competitive market. For automotive professionals, embracing adaptability means being open to new strategies, technologies, and market trends. As Motway demonstrated, growth often comes from a willingness to evolve and innovate in response to market demands.   The Power of Transparent Communication Communication remains an integral part of customer relations in the automotive industry. The transcript highlights this importance through Kristen's dedication to ensuring Motway's client interactions are both transparent and trustworthy. She shares, "One of the things that I think I was able to bring to the table was just really the communication piece…ultimately you're an advocate for them, [the customer]." Transparent communication not only builds trust but also fosters long-term partnerships. Kristen reinforced that effective communication can mitigate challenges, such as managing vehicle transportation issues—or as she simply puts it, "We try again to do what would be best for them." For automotive businesses, translating these insights into everyday practice means regularly engaging with customers to understand their needs and expectations. Dealerships should consider adopting a similar strategy to Motway's proactive client service approach, which includes dedicated support lines and personalized communication strategies.   Innovations and the Role of AI in Automotive Solutions As we steer into the future, incorporating advanced technologies like AI can distinguish leading companies from the rest. The dialogue between Williams and Campbell touches on Motway's exploration into AI solutions, particularly in optimizing transportation logistics and pricing strategies. Though Kristen mentions, "I wouldn't say we're there yet," Motway's forward-thinking approach prepares them for future breakthroughs. Artificial intelligence, for many businesses, represents a paradigm shift. It offers unprecedented opportunities for efficiency, accuracy, and personalized customer engagement. In the automotive industry, AI's potential applications are vast—from predicting market trends to personalizing customer experiences through intelligent data analysis. By integrating such technologies, dealerships can enhance their operational efficiencies and customer service offerings. As Kristen notes, features like "lane planning and route mapping" can streamline operations, which can be a game changer for businesses looking to improve service speed and reliability. The automotive industry stands on the precipice of significant transformation. As echoed in the insightful conversation between LA Williams and Kristen Campbell, embracing adaptability, prioritizing transparent communication, and capitalizing on technological advances like AI are essential for staying competitive. Automotive professionals who embody these principles are better poised to navigate upcoming industry shifts successfully. The vehicle to future success in automotive sales involves not just anticipating change but actively driving it.

In this episode, VP of Account Service, Jennifer Dawkins, talks about her experiences at MAICON, the Marketing Artificial Intelligence Conference. Jennifer shares the high-level timeline of how AI is expect to evolve over the next decade and how marketers can keep up. They discuss the rapid advancements in AI, the importance of AI literacy for organizations, and the evolving landscape of content marketing in the age of AI, including the broader copyright implications. As AI chat continues to answer user questions accurately, we discussed the importance of moving away from "what is" content, and work towards creating compelling content that stands out - with unique points of view and personal anecdotes. I also ask her about the new AI tools she's excited to learn about and try, including video editing tools and integration tools. The main takeaway from the conference? AI is here. If you don't learn it, you'll lose business to your competitors and it will ultimately hinder your career as a marketer. But it doesn't have to be impossible to learn or implement, start small and don't let initial AI mistakes dissuade you from taking advantage of the tools. TakeawaysAI literacy is essential for organizations to stay competitive.Generic content will not perform well in the AI-driven landscape and compelling content must have a unique point of view.Copyright laws regarding AI-generated content are still evolving.Organizations must develop a clear AI strategy and guidelines. The future of AI includes multimodal capabilities and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).Starting with small, low-stakes AI projects can ease the transition.ResourcesConnect with Jennifer on LinkedInConnect with Wendy on LinkedInLearn more about the Marketing AI InstituteListen to the Artificial Intelligence ShowRelated Episode: How We're Using AI Tools for Content MarketingRelated Episode: Navigating Data and Content in the Era of AI with Chris PennAI Tools MentionedChat GPTDescriptPoeChathub.ggMake

I ask her about her experience with the SGE program program. For some background, Google's SGE is an AI-generated search summary that appears on the Google homepage, providing quick, AI-generated answers to users' queries. Jennifer shared that SGE has been valuable for finding clear factual answers and quick information, but has been less than accurate when asking, technical or complex questions. Often pulling from sources that are not traditionally high-ranking in Google search results. We also talk about how brands can optimize their content strategy for Google SGE and other AI-assisted search tools. The bottom line? Quality content and a multi-channel digital presence are the most effective strategies. The rollout of SGE to the general public is still uncertain, and we believe that traditional Google search and quality SEO standards  will continue to coexist with AI-assisted search platforms like SGE.Key TakeawaysSGE provides quick answers and summaries for factual queries, but may provide inaccurate or misleading information for more complex and technical searches.A multi-channel digital presence is crucial for optimizing for AI-assisted search, as AI algorithms consider the frequency of brand mentions across various platforms.Quality content remains essential, and creating valuable, trustworthy content is key to gaining exposure and building trust with readers.Traditional Google search will likely coexist with AI-assisted search platforms like SGE, as they serve different purposes and cater to different user needs.ResourcesConnect with Jen on LinkedInConnect with Wendy on LinkedInRelated Episode: Optimizing for LLMs and Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) with Dale BertrandRelated Episode: Updating You 2024 & 2025 SEO Strategy with Kyle Roof

The Small Business Big Marketing Podcast with Timbo Reid
Why creativity in business is so important with restaurateur Howin Chui | # 619

The Small Business Big Marketing Podcast with Timbo Reid

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 16, 2023 62:03

I'm about to say one of the scariest (and I think) most exciting words in business. Are you ready? Creativity. You see, when you spend quality time thinking differently about your business, amazing things happen, the least of which is that you create a solid point-of-difference. But don't take my word for it … Let's hear from one of Sydney's leading new restaurateurs for whom creativity is his super power. It's a scary episode 619 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast with Tim Reid.A little more about Sydney restaurateur Howin Chui … Firstly, a quick rant on creativity. Having spent the first half of my career in the Account Service department of large advertising agencies looking after big brands like Gillette, Yellow Pages & Dulux, I quickly learnt about the power of creative thinking. About the power a big idea can have on a business's growth and success. In fact, sitting at the top of every client invoice was a cost centre titled Concept Development. This was the amount the client paid for their Creative Team to sit around and come up with ideas in response to a brief. And despite working in agencies where there were entire floors dedicated to Creative folk - art directors, copywriters, graphic designers - I also learnt that every single one of us is creative. You don't need to be in the Arts to be creative.  Whether you're an accountant, a builder, or you run an eCommerce store, you just need to find the time, regularly, to think differently about all aspects of your business. How you market it. How you employ. How you entertain. How you manage the finances. Make this part of how you do business, and you'll be in the successful minority of business owners who've cracked the creative code to standing out from the crowd, and creating a business people love to deal with. Entrepreneur Howin Chui is in this club. He's the quirky restaurateur behind Ni Hao Bar, Kowloon Cafe and Stir Fry King … very hip, very sought after Sydney-based eateries. As Howin says, ““The food world isn't just about the food quality; you need to create a feeling, a sensory experience .. you need to think differently. It's about your customers wanting to be a part of an experience they can talk about to friends and share online.” Now, Howin's slightly nervous at the start of our chat, but trust me when I say persevere, as he shares some absolute gold about his respect for creativity in business, and most importantly, how he does it. And just when you think he's nothing more to share, near the end he shares his next business venture, which is absolutely genius!  Learn how to take a strategic and proactive approach to content planning. Jennifer Dawkins, Vice President of Account Services at TREW Marketing, is an expert in content planning for both start-ups and enterprise companies. When it comes to the latter, she's seen her share of Content Managers who are overwhelmed with requests and have no formal process for planning and prioritizing content projects. This leads to random acts of content, lack of insight into performance, and a ton of aging content which can be detrimental to the brand.During the episode, Jennifer shares key steps in developing a content plan. It starts well before the first content brainstorming session, as all content should tie back to a campaign with identified personas and success metrics. She walks us through how to conduct a content brainstorming session using a content topic cluster framework, and shares who should (and should not) be in the room. We also cover accountability, measurement, how to handle ad-hoc content requests, and an approach to auditing aged content. For show links and more, visit the Content Marketing, Engineered podcast blog https://bit.ly/CMEPodcast Learn more about TREW Marketing https://www.trewmarketing.com Order the book! In that time she's seen companies fall into some common traps when approaching planning, which leads to wasted budget, poor results, and a negative reflection on marketing as a whole. We all know how critical account service people are to the success of our agencies. It's a tough job. Account service people must balance the needs of the agency, the internal team, and of course, the clients. A rock-solid account service person can help you retain and upsell clients, delivering a higher percentage of profitability on both counts. Creating a strong and dependable account services team and process is key to your success. Taylor McMaster is a former agency owner who discovered what she loved most about the work was the account services side of it. This realization inspired her to start a company that outsources account service people to agencies with the goal of improving agency-client relationships and allowing agency owners to step back from the day-to-day so they can concentrate on scaling their business. In this episode of Build a Better Agency, Taylor and I look at several different elements to building successful account services. We discuss how to onboard new clients, ways to ensure you're hiring the right account services people, and making the most of client relationships by understanding what they want and need from your agency. Strengthening your approach to account services gives you as the agency owner the freedom to put your focus on building your business. This is unfortunate because LinkedIn has tremendous potential to help institutions reach traditional prospect families, non-traditional and graduate school prospects, alumni, employer-partners, and others, while also strengthening the brand. One challenge is that the platform isn’t always intuitive and institutions need to approach LinkedIn very differently than they do other platforms. By doing so, however, they can get real results, while also positioning their students and alumni for success. ----more---- About our guest: Anthony Juliano, MA, MBASpeaker/Teacher/Trainer at Asher Agency Anthony is the Vice President of Account Service and Business Development at Asher Agency. 2-Minute Tip: Don't Memorize   Memorizing your speech is generally a bad idea. You want to internalize it, not memorize it.   There are 3 main problems with memorizing your talk.   First, it's a lot more nerve wracking. Second, if you forget a part you're more likely to get stuck and freeze. Third, your audience wants you to be real.   You want to practice and prepare of course. Memorizing word for word is not a good use of your time, though.   Post-Tip Discussion: Speaking, Purpose, and Hand Analysis with Jayne Sanders   I know that most members of my audience are career professionals looking to improve their speaking skills to advance their careers. You may or may not want to make the leap to the keynote stage.   That's one reason I love talking with guests like Jayne. She honed her public speaking skills in the halls and conference rooms of corporate America while doing her job. The message came first; the speaking was secondary. Speaking was secondary. Over time she grew to appreciate the power of it, though, and make it a core pillar of her modern career.   This week we talk both about Jayne's path as a speaker and the too she uses to help people learn more about their own nature -- scientific hand analysis.   Bio   Born and raised in southern Illinois, Jayne's Midwestern roots still influence her friendly, approachable demeanor, which can disarm and delight at the same time. Hearing an occasional “Well, hell’s bells!” or “I’m on that like green on grass, white on rice, and a duck on a June bug!” is not uncommon. At the same time, Jayne offer deeply insightful observations, sound solutions, and a quick wit.   Jayne's professional background includes an undergraduate major in Speech/Journalism with emphasis in Communications and Psychology. She then earned a Masters in Business Administration. In the corporate world she moved swiftly up the ranks of marketing management for eight years, then left for a more entrepreneurial position as SVP of Sales and Account Service for an international corporate identity firm, where she broke sales records and acquired numerous Fortune 500 accounts.   Wanting to contribute even more and help people at deeper levels, Jayne then founded her professional speaking and consulting business and spoke in the corporate world on topics including authenticity and courage, work/life balance, finding and living your passion, GenderSmart® communication, and presentation skills. Her book, GenderSmart – Solving the Communication Puzzle Between Men and Women, has been published in five countries.   Walking her talk as a consultant and transformational catalyst with first-hand knowledge of the importance of play and joy, Jayne is also an avid horsewoman, often seen galloping along trails on one of her horses, either Darby or Comet. Her impassioned “YEE-HAW!”s or “YA-HOO!”s can sometimes be heard echoing through the fields. Get her on the subject of how horses have positively impacted her life and you will have quite a lengthy but engaging and impassioned conversation!   Links   Jayne's website http://purposewisdom.com Purpose and Impact Denver Workshop https://purposeandimpact.co/ Forbes Article on Hand Analysis https://www.forbes.com/sites/cherylsnappconner/2014/02/05/how-hand-analysis-could-influence-your-success/#5d12d1aaeeb8 GenderSmart – Solving the Communication Puzzle Between Men and Women https://www.amazon.com/GenderSmart%C2%AE-Solving-Communication-Puzzle-Between/dp/0972381023   Call To Action   If you're listening to this episode before April 26 and will be in Denver that day, check out Jayne's Purpose and Impact Workshop.
