You might not know Andrew Synowiec's name, but chances are you've heard his guitar playing. Heck, chances are you heard his guitar playing this week.Synowiec makes his living as an LA session guitarist, with a list of credits as long as the California coastline. Among those credits: you can hear him on the score for pretty much every recent Disney film (Frozen, CoCo, Zootopia), as well superhero flicks like Logan and Spider-Man: Far From Home, TV shows like The Simpsons and The Good Place, as well as on records with recording artists like The Who, HAIM, P!nk, Nick Jonas, Donna Summer, and so many more. A couple weeks back, Kirk sat down with Andrew to talk about his career as a session player, how he finds a good balance when doing creative work for hire, his approach to practicing and guitar tone, how he designed and built his home studio, and why he continues to make the time for his own personal music projects.FEATURED/DISCUSSED ON THIS EPISODE:Guy Lacour etude No. 4 as performed by David Hernando Vitores: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyGo9NmZUNwWes Montgomery on “No Blues” from Smokin' at the Half Note w/ the Wynton Kelly Trio, 1965“Where The Streets Have No Name” by U2 from The Joshua Tree, 1987“Sad But True” by Metallica from Metallica, 1991“Blood and Thunder” by Mastodon from Leviathan, 2004“Last Goodbye” by Jeff Buckley from Grace, 1994“Already Taken,” “Second Story,” and “Humor Me” by Andrew Synowiec from Second Story, 2019“Jonkoloni” by Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba from Segu Blue, 2006, feat. the Ngoni“Salsa Caliente (Versión Aumentada)” by Meridian Brothers from Desperanza, 2012“You Are Young” by Keane from Strangeland, 2012A video with Andrew about his work and his home studioA Spotify playlist Andrew maintains featuring things he's played onAndrew's website, with lots more credits and other infoSTRONG MERCHCheck out the Strong Songs merch store for some cool t-shirts, mugs, totes, and more: store.strongsongspodcast.comJOIN THE STRONG SONGS DISCORDThe Strong Songs Discord server is now open to everyone! Many people think they have to do something to get forgiveness, but God's Grace is independent of our actions. He loves us no matter what. We just need to put our faith in action and thank Him for the gift He's already supplied.

It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA. Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game. Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development. I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2022 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion. Squadron 42 will not be released before 2022. I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED. GameGlass, Shadow & NordVPN referrals give me a small kickback, however I am not paid by them for any specific videos or promotion. Unless Otherwise Stated. Daniel Lismore is considered one of today’s most influential fashion leaders. His authenticity and personal courage have inspired works of striking originality and bold ideas. Through the medium of fashion, Daniel achieves a synthesis of art, history and culture that truly transcend time. His book, Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken, includes contributions by Debbie Harry, Boy George, Steven Fry, Vivienne Westwood and Stefano Pilati. His record-setting exhibition of the same name opened at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film in 2016, followed by Art Basel in Miami--later traveling to Iceland, Italy, and Poland. Over his career, Daniel has collaborated with photographers like Mario Testino, Steven Klein, and David LaChapelle. He’s worked with celebrated art directors, models, fashion designers, and actors. As Creative Director of Sorapol, he won critical acclaim for his work with some of the world’s most beautiful and influential women: Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Rita Ora, Debbie Harry, and Cara Delavigne. This past year, Daniel starred in Burberry Creative Director Riccardo Tischi’s Pride Month campaign. Along side Iggy Pop, he starred in H&M’s Close the Loop Campaign promoting sustainable clothing, as well as Bulgari’s Sustainable Future campaign in 2019 and newly released Bulgari 2020 campaign. Currently, Daniel presides as Circuit ambassador for the Tate Modern, and has presented two exhibitions at the Tate London. In this two-part interview we discuss Daniel’s work with Vivienne Westwood and her Climate Revolution projects, and his modeling career culminating in the September 2019 opening of Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief runway show at the British Museum. We talk about Daniel’s costume design collaboration with Swarovski for the English National Opera’s production of The Mask of Orpheus, and his work with fellow Cool Earth Ambassador Pamela Anderson and David LaChapelle at the English National Ballet which he produced and starred in. We highlight Daniel’s candid interview with Tim Yip, Academy Award Winning Art Director of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And share a sneak preview of Yip’s new film in which Daniel has a starring role. We hear about a celebrated punk exhibition on the Thames in the company of Vivienne Westwood...and so much more. If 2020 taught us anything it’s that we all crave freedom—freedom to create, freedom to prosper, and freedom to love. In that spirit, I hope you enjoy this two-part series in which we explore fashion as art, and the role creativity can play in bringing our world closer together. That problem that is on your mind that is weighing you down, give it to God he already has a plan for it. It's going to work out in your favor don't stress out about it. And this podcast I give you encouragement to know that whatever you're going through God has already worked it out.
Saw this amazing quote on someone's Instagram and it really hit home.
Please join my Facebook group (it's FREE) https://www.facebook.com/groups/618850222133587 Today I'm going to question a few things that you might believe, but you just didn't notice it and it is just draining your energy and you are being stressed when you could have a little fun. Do you find that the belief is not serving you? Find empowering whys and remember them at least 2 times a day for 20day. That will help you to change that limiting belief. The next tip comes from my own story. I always like to imitate people that I love but I find out that I have much bigger fun when I'm truly myself and I'm more confident. Be yourself, and don't pretend to be someone else. When I listen to a story the best one is the one that is true from your heart. Believe me, I am a speaker and I know when I get the most people's attention. More is in the podcast! Wish you all the best! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/an-planovek/message

It’s time we start trusting and stop trying to pay a debt that’s already paid. We don’t need to work to be forgiven, God has already forgiven us. He’s already made up His mind; nothing and no one will change it. So stop beating yourself up, and start resting in the finished work of Jesus.

Your Judgement has already taken place! Knowing this will transform your thinking, and life!
Your Judgement has already taken place! Knowing this will transform your thinking, and life!
Mike Robbins is the author of five books, Focus on the Good Stuff, Be Yourself Everyone Else is Already Taken, Nothing Changes Until You Do, and, Bring Your Whole Self to Work, which have been translated into fifteen different languages. His fifth book, We're All in This Together: Creating a Team Culture of High Performance, Trust, and Belonging, was just released. He admits that writing books is not his favorite thing to do, but he keeps getting downloads and ideas for new books. Every team has a chemistry – egos and ambitions included – that makes them special. After playing baseball he got interested in the dynamics of teams. There really isn’t a “them” it’s all “us.” And when we can stop the us vs. them mindset… Some questions they explore: · What are some ways we can bring mindfulness to our work? · Are you actually able to articulate what you’re feeling? · How has the question “Hey, how are you?” changed in recent times? He learned about meditation when he was in college back in the mid-90’s. His girlfriend at the time introduced him to a teacher who had come in to help her swim team. He found that he was better able to connect mind, body and spirit, and he knew it was going to be a path he would travel in his life. These days, his now wife even asks him “Are you meditating?” when he seems out of alignment. Mike recommends to meditate in whatever manner you choose, that works for you. His personal practice has him meditating in bed in the morning to start his day. Find ways in the midst of your lives to spend a few minutes in mindfulness. Focus on the Good Stuff He keeps a gratitude journal for about twenty years. He not only writes down what he’s grateful for but what he needs to forgive himself for. Self compassion and gratitude. We have an opportunity to bring our whole selves to work these days. We are experiencing something globally, at the same time. The ups and downs are very stressful right now, and he recommends just being present with the experience and whatever we’re feeling right now. Be present with sadness, anger or fear – Then move through it! Also, meet others where they are and be present without judgements – Then move through it! The power of curiosity and compassion with ears on our heart – we could be more present with each other. Collectively sharing what each person is going through is recognition of being honest about where we are in the moment. It’s also ok to take breaks when you need to! Do you find yourself seeking external validation? If so, what do you hope that person or group of people will tell you? She said, “I was seeking external validation for my accomplishments because I didn't come up in a home where it was instilled in me … It was something I was always seeking … I realized that, ‘okay, if you do well in certain areas, this is how you'll get certain types of validation' … I have been operating off that until I was about 33 … I hit a ceiling professionally, and then also continued to recognize this void that I had, and I realized that I had to stop, and go inward to see where this was coming from … Once I started learning who I am and the things that I like … How well do you know yourself? Jason, with 178 days since his last drink, shares his story... “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier “It’s difficult to believe in yourself because the idea of self is an artificial construction. You are, in fact, part of the glorious oneness of the universe. Everything beautiful in the world is within you.” – Russell Brand “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” – Henry Ford “If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.” – Zen proverb “It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.” – Agnes Repplier “If things go wrong, don’t go with them.” – Roger Babson “Recovery is not for people who need it, but for people who want it” – Anonymous “When the past calls, let it go to voicemail. Believe me, it has nothing new to say.” – Unknown “The greatest mistake you can make in life is to continually be afraid you will make one.” – Elbert Hubbard “If you can quit for a day, you can quit for a lifetime.” – Benjamin Alire Sáenz “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear.” – Rosa Parks “When was the last time you woke up and wished you’d had just one more drink the night before? I have never regretted not drinking. Say this to yourself, and you’ll get through anything.” – Meredith Bell “The Pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow” – Anonymous “The best way out is always through.” – Robert Frost “Your heart is leading you in the right direction. Quiet the mind and follow. “ – Paul Churchill “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” – Babe Ruth “Happiness is where we find it, but rarely where we seek it.” – J. Petit Senn “Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit.” – Bernard Williams “What is addiction, really? It is a sign, a signal, a symptom of distress. It is a language that tells us about a plight that must be understood.” – Alice Miller SHOW NOTES [11:50] Paul Introduces Jason. Jason is 46-year-old social worker from Connecticut He's married with two children. He likes the outdoors, soccer, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. [14:00] Give listeners an idea of your drinking background. He started drinking in high school. It escalated when he went into the navy. After the navy, his drinking settled into a regular pattern which slowly escalated as well. In mid 30's his drinking started to feel like it was getting to be a problem. He had a previous 5 year period of sobriety. He was trying to be health conscious. He has heart disease in his family. He tried to stay on top of it. Around 38, his physical wasn't so great. He was referred to a cardiologist. He thought cutting alcohol out would improve his health. He stopped on NYE of 2010. He felt a lot better so he kept going. He did not work a program. He was hung up on the stigma of being an alcoholic. He thought that after 5 years he didn't have a problem, and he was feeling healthy and he thought that maybe he could be a normal drinker again. After relapse, he kept it under control for a while, but shortly thereafter it started escalating again quickly and he began to fall back into the same patterns. He had a difficult summer, drinking most days, and he realized that he was a better person during his stint in sobriety and decided to go back to being sober. [27:38] Did you find it difficult to stop the second time? He could see how bad it would get if he didn't stop. He was hiding drinks, and every week seemed to get worse. He knew he was worse than he had been previously. He thought that his previous bout of sobriety meant he could do it again. He just had to get back to sobriety. He feels our society surrounds you with pro-drinking messages. [32:07] How were you able to quit this time around? The first few weeks were difficult, more difficult than he remembered from before. This time it felt more ingrained into his routine, making it more difficult. This time he is consuming more sobriety media and it helps him keep his mind right. [34:00] Do you think you are addressing more dimensions of sobriety this time? Last time he was too focused on the physical part. This time he's addressing the mental and spiritual sides of his life. He's building a meditation practice and doing yoga. He he has more tools this time than before. He's trying not to think about the time line as much. He's trying to stay in the present and focus on what's right in front of him. [36:37] What's something that you've learned about yourself in sobriety? Honest really helps. Also, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Dependence happens to some people quicker than others, but it's nothing to be ashamed of. He's taking things more gradually and slowly. [37:22] Have you experienced any cravings? Definitely, in the first few months. He just tries to ride it out. They're only about 20 minutes long. He tries to distract himself realizing that they will pass. [38:56] If you could go back and change anything about your getting sober, what would it be? He thinks he could have talked to and with more people. [39:20] What's on your bucket list in sobriety? He wants to travel more, and spend more time with his kids. [40:00] Rapid Fire Round What was your worst memory from drinking? When he was in the navy, he blacked out and had to walk around ashamed. Did you ever have an “oh-shit” moment? It's a cumulative thing. His many mornings feeling terrible. Hearing about conversations he didn't remember. What’s your plan moving forward? To keep taking it slowly. To focus on his meditation and yoga practice. Be open and honest with people in his sobriety. What’s your favorite resource in recovery? Recovery Elevator podcast. On Instagram: Drybe club. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received (on sobriety)? You do not have to drink. What parting piece of guidance can you give listeners who are in recovery or thinking about quitting drinking? If it's something that's on your mind, just do it. Reach out to people, be honest and find resources. "Be yourself everyone else is taken," (This quote is often attributes to Oscar Wilde.) Most of us are trying to be someone we think we should be, or someone we've been told we are. In these shows we explore how to break free from this and discover who we really are!
Pin Drop Studio was thrilled to welcome the incredible, Daniel Lismore to Soho House for this very special evening. This event marked a rare opportunity to hear Daniel discuss his views on style and creativity, as well as some of his key influences following the publication in 2017 of Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken, published by Skira Rizzoli. The lavish edition is Daniel’s first major publication, and shares the 32 ensembles that comprised his first U.S. museum exhibition of the same name at SCAD FASH: Museum of Fashion and Film before moving on to Art Basel, Miami. The exhibition immersed audiences in Lismore’s unique sartorial point of view. These life-size sculptural ensembles, each worn by the artist at one time, are reflections of his own multidimensional identity and are a tapestry of his journey to his true self. As a prominent fixture of the London fashion and nightlife circuits, Daniel shared stories from his life as an artist and tastemaker.

Ah, Buzzkillers, good old Oscar Wilde, the author of so many excellent plays, novels, and poems. Dripping with epigrams, Oscar entertained literary circles in London, Paris and Dublin with his wit, often pairing philosophical and comical themes to excellent effect. There are dozens of legitimate Oscar-isms, but is there any evidence that he ever said "Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken"? Find out in this episode!

In this week’s solo episode, I discuss trust and how we can expand our ability to trust. Many of us believe trusting is naive. We spend a lot of time and energy shielding ourselves from being embarrassed, taken advantage of, or compromised. But, what are we really protecting ourselves from? Vulnerability is power, and trust is a generating energy. What would happen if we learned to embody trust and lead from a place of trust? How would our lives be different? Mike's book is an honest look at the profound changes you can initiate in your life and in your relationships (family and otherwise) when you give yourself permission to be who you are.
