Everybody loves to talk about marketing. Companies will pay thousands of dollars for the chance to have their product catch your eye, but when they are looking at the results they aren't seeing the money come back. Today's guest is Amber Gray, the CEO of Trusty Oaks. Amber joins the host Molly McGrath to discuss how companies can better spend those marketing dollars. Takeaways: When looking at hiring new people, you want to hire people who are passionate about what they do and want to be a part of the company, not just people who are looking for a paycheck. A virtual assistant is a great person who can manage some of the essential steps in a project that you don't want to give to a marketing person. Collaboration always wins. It's essential that the team members at your company work together to make sure a project is going smoothly. Having fractional experts can help to have employees work better in certain aspects that they are stronger in. Meanwhile, the fractional expert can focus on their zone of genius and bring more value to your company. There are 5 levels of delegation that range from asking someone to do a task exactly as it is documented and don't deviate from it all the way to level 5 which telling someone to do something and fully trusts they will get it done the best way possible. When working with a virtual assistant, it's important to talk about the tasks that you will need them for and then they can help you find someone who would be the best fit. Planet Women envisions a world where the vibrant diversity of earth's people collaborate to care for the planet. Currently, the organization is focused on three geographic areas defined by rivers — the Congo, Amazon, and Colorado River Basins. Each area has an immense influence over global climate patterns and biodiversity or an outsized impact on the communities that depend on them.Of course, since Forever Our Rivers works in the southwestern United States, we're most interested in Planet Women's work along the Colorado River. And this podcast centers on their innovative Overflight Project. The initiative pairs volunteer women pilots with indigenous women leaders and youth from in and around the Colorado River Basin. The pilots then fly the women over their homelands, sparking inspiration and storytelling along the way. Planet Women plans to capture and share these stories of a landscape in the midst of aridification as seen through the eyes of indigenous women in flight. To learn more and to see photos from the flights and their progress across the Basin, visit the Overflight Storymap. In this episode, we talk to Joanna Marshall, Planet Women's director of development and marketing, and Amber Gray, a pilot and the Overflight Project's aviation operations director. We also speak to Crystal Tulley-Cordova of the Navajo Nation and the Indigenous Women's Leadership Network. Crystal is a principal hydrologist for the Navajo Nation and a participant in the Overflight program. If you are or know of indigenous woman leaders or youth who would like to participate in the Overflight Project email TheOverflightProject@gmail.com.Fact-checking notes: In this episode, we briefly discuss the amount of oil that the United States and California import from the Amazon. In this episode, I had an amazing conversation with Amber Gray of Grayson Interiors. She was very transparent about her journey walking in her purpose. Amber birthed Grayson Interiors out of her passion for design that has been slowly cultivating throughout her entire life. When she was young hrt mother and grandmother would take her shopping with them which kick-started her love for design. Over the last 10 years, her passion went from a fun activity to a professional in the field. Nothing, however, has pushed her more than God and the path He has put in front of her. We discussed: How she got her start in design How God confirmed his purpose for her Tips for designing and elevating spaces in your home Audible: Want to read more books? When writer and director Miriama Diallo attended Yale University, she referred to the person in charge of her residential college as ‘master' — an incredibly outdated term that the school tried to explain away as nothing more than a way to pay homage to a British system on which it was based while stating it had nothing to do with the ugly history of slavery in America. Diallo just went along with the university's rules but a few years after she graduated, she happened to run into the former head of her college and instinctively she called him ‘master.' That's when she realized the way she had been conditioned to just accept use of such a problematic title. It forced Diallo to really examine her history and how those experiences can truly shape a person but it also inspired her to write a screenplay loosely based upon some of her own experiences at college. The finished product centered around three women of color at an upscale university called Ancaster where all of them face the specter of institutional racism, not to mention microaggressions and a haunted history at this school with a legacy of intolerance…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to wait for the clock to strike 3:33 as we review the 2022 film “Master”…

Having confidence in the workplace can sometimes feel like a roller coaster. Meaning, you may have days when you wake up and feel like you could conquer the world. You feel like you can take on anything and are confident in your knowledge and skills and that you just really know your shit. Your confidence is at a 10. This could go on for a few weeks or months. Then something may happen like, losing a deal, not getting a promotion, or having a not so positive interaction with a peer or boss. These can all cause a set-back, and your confidence lowers. That excitement you felt waking in the morning weeks before can be reduced to feeling anxiety and second guessing yourself. If you have been here, you are not alone. Our confidence goes through peaks and valleys. It's human. The key is recognizing it and embracing how to get through it and learn to believe in ourselves despite it all. Hear this episode with Amber Gray. Amber talks about her personal journey through confidence and how she got through her own peaks and valleys.
On this episode of Elite Achievement, Kristin interviews Amber Gray who is the Founder and CEO of Trusty Oak, a virtual assistant agency based in Austin, TX. Under Amber's leadership, Trusty Oak was named the top freelancer hiring platform of the year and led Amber to be named Austin's top businesswoman of the year, both in 2021. Join us as we discuss the process of hiring a virtual assistant and much more. Amber talks about her experiences before she started building her agency as well as their core values and what services they offer at Trusty Oak. She also shares her hiring best practices and common hiring mistakes to avoid. Highlights 07:23 – I did apply for a job and they said “You're overqualified for this position” and I had a light bulb moment that I could start a business that does this. 09:31 – Now I'm taking home a decent salary, but still not where I want to be, but it's still something that I can be proud of. 11:57 – So the number one thing to think about is that you need to know what you need first. 14:23 – A lot of people do want to work in remote, flexible jobs and we want the best of the best, so aligning for values is the main thing. Skills can be learned, especially if you're resourceful. 28:47 – My mission statement is “500 virtual assistants have sustainable jobs and we want to support entrepreneurs to thrive and not experience burn out.” Connect with Kristin https://www.instagram.com/meetkristinburke/ (Instagram) https://kristinburke.com/ (Website) https://kristinburke.com/breakout-plan (Breakout Plan) Connect with Amber https://www.linkedin.com/in/ambergrayatx/ (LinkedIn) https://trustyoak.com/ (Website)

When you go through a big life change, it can affect all aspects of your daily schedule and tasks. In this episode we talk about how these changes can help us to figure out our priorities and use them to streamline our lives as we transition. Our community guest this week is Amber Gray from Healthy Family Project. We are talking about how her life has shifted since having a baby, specifically her food and cooking routines. Also, Amber has some great ideas for hiding vegetables in food so her daughter will eat more healthily. The meal plan this week features five meals inspired by Amber. They are simple, quick, and some include a few hidden vegetables for bonus health. Subscribe at COOKtheSTORY to get the recipe links and printable grocery list sent your way.Quick Tip Of The Week: To keep track of how long leftovers have been in my fridge, or of when I opened that jar of salsa, I write the date on the container using a Sharpie marker. I attach the sharpie marker to my fridge using industrial strength Velcro, but a magnet would also work. In this way, the sharpie is always right there when I want to write a date on something I've opened.Deeper Time Management Thought: When you've gone through big changes, what other things have been affected? For me, when I had kids, I stopped gardening. That told me that gardening probably wasn't a high priority for me. What other things change and how do we use that information to help us figure out what matters to us?Podcast Guest: Amber Gray from Healthy Family Project Links Mentioned In The ShowNote: Some links earn our show a commission.
